Egypt Escorted Tours & Guided Holidays

Escorted tours & guided holidays to egypt.

Shrouded in mystery and intrigue and home to some of the world’s most famous historical treasures, Egypt guided holidays are on most people’s must-do lists.

On an escorted tour to Egypt you can explore ancient wonders such as the Pyramids at Giza, the temples of Karnak and the excavated tombs located in Luxor’s haunting Valley of the Kings. You can descend into many of the tombs and gaze in disbelief at the near-perfect condition of some of the paintings and hieroglyphics which adorn the walls of these underground treasure troves. In the Egyptian Museum in Cairo you can marvel at the riches discovered inside the tomb of Tutankhamun, the boy king who died in his late teens and remained at rest for more than 3,300 years before he was discovered, as well as view thousands of other ancient artefacts housed there including many mummies, sarcophagi, sculptures, household items and grand statues.

Many people who take Egypt tours plan to take a panoramic cruise on the River Nile, which flows through nine countries and is the longest river in the world. The stunning natural scenery of the Sinai Peninsula and vast expanses of desert which are home to the nomadic Bedouin tribes are yet more mesmerizing sights to be admired on holidays to Egypt.

egypt tours malta

Welcome to Egypt’s capital and largest city. Travelers who purchased our air-inclusive package will be met at Cairo International Airport, and assisted through customs and formalities before transferring to your hotel. Take some time to relax and get settled before joining fellow travelers at a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Pyramids of Giza

egypt tours malta

Our destination today: the wondrous Pyramids of Giza. Built during the Third and Fourth Dynasties, these monuments stand as testimony to the skill and strength of their builders. We’ll get up close to study the Great Pyramid, as well as see the Pyramids of Khefren and Mycerinus in the distance. Nearby, we’ll gaze at the mythical Sphinx of Giza, which famously combines a reclining lion with the head of an Egyptian king. After these amazing sights, we’ll lunch like the Egyptians do at a local Cairo restaurant.

Day 3: Cairo – Aswan

egypt tours malta

Today you’ll be picked up at your hotel and we’ll fly from Cairo to Aswan. Upon arrival you can either hop on another short flight for an optional tour to the Abu Simbel Temples or head to the hotel and start exploring Aswan at your leisure. Later we will all join together to sail on the Nile by a motorboat to the Nubian Village that is located on the West Bank of the River Nile. This fantastic tour to the Nubian Village lets you meet a Nubian family, have a drink in their home, while learning about their lifestyle, culture, and traditions.

Day 4: Aswan – Nile Cruise

egypt tours malta

In the morning, visit a modern-day architectural wonder, the Aswan High Dam, as well as Philae’s Temple of Isis, which was nearly lost to rising water in the 1960s until the dam was built. Afterwards, you’ll board your Nile cruise ship to depart on a three-night journey from Upper to Lower Egypt.

Day 5: Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo – Edfu – Luxor

egypt tours malta

We’ll cruise to Kom Ombo to visit an unusual double temple, built in the Ptolemaic period and dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-head god Horus. After exploring Kom Ombo, we’ll sail on to Edfu, an Egyptian city on the west bank of the Nile River. Our day continues with a tour of the immense, well-preserved Temple of Edfu, built between 237 and 57 B.C. and also dedicated to Horus. Legend says that this was the site where Horus avenged his father’s murder by his uncle, the god Seth. Back on board our ship, we’ll sail past Esna to Luxor.

Day 6: Nile Cruise – Luxor

egypt tours malta

Often considered the most extraordinary open-air museum in the world, Luxor boasts an imposing array of ruins and monuments. The modern name for Thebes (the “city of palaces”), Luxor is also the inspiration for the word luxury, and we’ll see quite a bit of architectural extravagance today. The graceful Temple of Luxor was built over several centuries by Amenhopis III, Tutankhamun, Ramses II and Alexander the Great and features an avenue of sphinxes. We’ll also tour the ancient temple complex of Karnak. The immense wealth of Thebes was spent embellishing and building temples in honor of Amun-Ra, the most important and powerful of ancient Egyptian gods. The balance of the day is at your leisure.

Day 7: Luxor

egypt tours malta

After breakfast, we’ll say farewell to our ship and continue our exploration of Luxor and the Nile’s west bank. We’ll visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Egypt’s second confirmed female Pharaoh and regarded as one of its most successful rulers, as well as royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. The afternoon is free to relax or investigate exhibits at the Luxor Museum.

Day 8: Luxor

egypt tours malta

Enjoy this free day at leisure in Luxor to explore further or relax by the pool.

Day 9: Luxor – Cairo

egypt tours malta

A morning flight takes us back to Cairo and our last hotel. Today, we’ll explore the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, which houses the world’s largest collection of artifacts from the era of the pharaohs, including some belonging to King Tut. Afterwards, we’ll wander through the bustling, colorful Khan El Khalili Bazaar. We’ll end the day by sharing memories of our amazing travels through Egypt at a farewell dinner.

2025 Tour Itinerary

Welcome to Egypt’s capital and largest city, where ancient wonders blend seamlessly with modern life. Take some time to relax and get settled before joining our fellow travelers at a welcome dinner.

egypt tours malta

Our destination today: the wondrous Pyramids of Giza. Built during the Third and Fourth Dynasties, these monuments stand as testimony to the skill and strength of their builders. We'll get up close to study the Great Pyramid, as well as see the Pyramids of Khefren and Mycerinus in the distance. Nearby, we’ll gaze at the mythical Sphinx of Giza, which famously combines a reclining lion with the head of an Egyptian king. After these amazing sights, we'll lunch like the Egyptians do at a local Cairo restaurant.

Today, we'll travel to the airport for our flight from Cairo to Aswan. Upon arrival, either hop on another short flight for an optional tour to the Abu Simbel Temples or head to the hotel to start exploring Aswan at leisure. Later, we'll join together to sail on the Nile by motorboat to a Nubian Village located on the West Bank of the Nile River. This fantastic visit to the Nubian Village lets us meet a Nubian family, have a drink in their home, and learn about their lifestyle, culture, and traditions.

This morning, we'll visit the Aswan High Dam, a modern-day architectural wonder and a testament to human ingenuity. Next, we'll visit Philae's Temple of Isis with its intricate carvings. We'll learn about its dramatic relocation to higher ground after it was nearly lost to rising water in the 1960s. Afterward, we'll board our Nile cruise ship for our three-night journey from Upper to Lower Egypt.

We'll cruise to Kom Ombo to visit an unusual double temple, built in the Ptolemaic period and dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-head god Horus. After exploring Kom Ombo, we'll sail on to Edfu, an Egyptian city on the west bank of the Nile River. Our day continues with a tour of the immense, well-preserved Temple of Edfu, built between 237 and 57 B.C. and also dedicated to Horus. Legend says that this was the site where Horus avenged his father’s murder by his uncle, the god Seth. Back on board our ship, we'll sail past Esna to Luxor.

Often considered the most extraordinary open-air museum in the world, Luxor boasts an imposing array of ruins and monuments. The modern name for Thebes (the “city of palaces”), Luxor is also the inspiration for the word luxury, and we'll see quite a bit of architectural extravagance today.

Day 8: Luxor – Cairo

A morning flight takes us back to Cairo. Back in Egypt's capital city, we’ll explore the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, which houses the world’s largest collection of artifacts from the era of the pharaohs, including some belonging to King Tut. Afterwards, we’ll wander through the bustling, colorful Khan El Khalili Bazaar.

Day 9: Cairo

egypt tours malta

Enjoy this free day at leisure in Cairo to explore further. We’ll end the day by sharing memories of our amazing travels through Egypt at a farewell dinner.

Our tour comes to an end after breakfast today.

Old City Cairo

  • $42 per person

Day 9 Morning Tour

This morning, we'll discover Old City Cairo beginning with one of the oldest and most beautiful Christian places of worship in Egypt: Al-Muallawa (Hanging Church). The church was built on top of one of the old fortress gatehouess with its nave suspended over the passage. We'll continue to The Church of Saint Sergius, also known as Abu Serga, which was built upon an ancient Roman fort in Old Cairo. The Church of Saint Sergius was named after renowned 4th century saints, Sergius and Bacchus, both of whom were martyred at al-Resafa in Syra for their Christian beliefs. Our last visit will be to the oldest synagogue in Egypt, Ben Ezra Synagogue, where we'll learn about its history.

There is no single destination in the world so identifiable with its ancient culture as is Egypt. When we first learn of it at school ,we are captivated by tales of pyramids and tombs and mummies and hieroglyphs. Then, if we are lucky, we make it to Egypt and find that the stories pale in comparison when presented with the real thing. The land of the Nile awaits.

Egypt Tours Highlights & Experiences

The capital of Egypt and one of the largest cities in the world. Cairo was established in the 10 th century and was a key link on the east-west spice trail. Today’s Cairo is a place of extremes where modern skyscrapers stand alongside ornate mosques. You’ll find attractions in and around the city, which include the historic capital of Memphis, the Egyptian Museum, Alabaster Mosque, Citadel of Saladin, Khan el-Khalili bazaar, Old Cairo, and more.

Giza Necropolis

The most famous ancient site in the world and listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The Great Pyramids of Giza and the iconic Sphinx fascinate all who visit this ancient site.

A port city in Northern Egypt, founded by Alexander the Great. Alexandria is known for , the Library of Alexandria, the Roman theatre, and the Catacombs.

To many, Aswan is the most beautiful of the cities along the Nile. Once ancient Egypt’s gateway to Africa, it is the perfect place to explore major attractions such as temples and monuments in Upper Egypt. Visit the Nubian Museum, Elephantine Island and the Aswan Museum, and see the Unfinished Obelisk, which would have been the largest single standing stone had it not cracked and been left abandoned!

Originally called “Thebes” in ancient Egypt, Luxor has a wealth of temples and tombs to explore. From here you can visit the Temple or Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple and the Temple of Deir al-Bahri (Queen Hatshepsut). Well worth a few days at least, to explore all that Luxor has to offer.

  • Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm el-Sheikh is a well established resort town, located between the desert of the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea. Loved by divers, it is known for its natural sandy beaches, crystal waters and coral reefs. Don’t forget a visit to the Old Bazaar – one of the top spots for shopping!

One of Egypt’s top tourist and most recongised attractions, this breathtaking monument is a massive rock temple carved in sandstone rock. The twin temple was carved out during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses the great as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari, before being moved for the construction of Lake Nasser.

Nile Cruising

A visit to Egypt wouldn’t be complete without a cruise on the River Nile. Fly to either Luxor or Aswan to join a 3, 4, or 7-night cruise, which include stops at Edfu to visit the Temple of Horus, and Kom Ombo to see the temples of Sobek and Horus. Sites you will witness in Luxor include the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In Aswan, wonder at the awe of Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk.

Julia was an excellent and knowledgeable guide for the 2 days she showed us around Malta and packed in quite a lot. We especially enjoyed the fishing town of Marsaxlokk, with its small market and several seafood restaurants, outside beside the bay. Jonathon and Alex were excellent drivers. Alex was guide and driver for the day on Gozo, he also had good knowledge, and taking us to the salt shop was a highlight.

  • 333llp 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Excellent trip Had an enjoyable trip from Malta to Pozzallo(Sicily). The catamaran ferry is very big and stable – the weather was excellent and Mediterranean sea was quiet. We had a club class level, which is very roomy and includes free snacks/sandwiches and drinks(non alcoholic). The two hours trip went very quickly. Read more Written April 20, 2024
  • G8933LKjessicam 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Virtu Ferries: where customer service goes to die. Virtu Ferries' lackluster response to customer inquiries further compounds their abysmal performance. When approached for assistance, they offered nothing but hollow platitudes and devoid-of-substance advice, leaving travelers adrift in a sea of uncertainty. Their failure to provide meaningful guidance reflects a profound disregard for the welfare of their passengers, underscoring their woeful incompetence and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. In times of crisis, Virtu Ferries proved themselves to be not just unreliable, but actively unhelpful. It's clear that their commitment to virtue ends where their responsibilities to their patrons begin. If reliability, customer care, and basic decency are virtues they aspire to, Virtu Ferries has certainly missed the boat. Avoid at all costs unless you have a penchant for disappointment. • 587bobbyn 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Dissappointing I was looking into booking a trip to Sicily. After doing my research on their website I asked for a quotation of prices from their contact team. The website prices are completely different to the quotation I was given. The quotation was triple the website price for a person, double the price for a vehicle and furthermore, they stated that they do not offer return tickets despite the website saying so! Failure to update ones website is quite sad to be honest and misleading to persons who wish to book through a website. Read more Written November 5, 2023
  • Petiboi 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great ferry but watch out for port "taxis" Great ferry trip. Modern, safe, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Great way to get to Sicily. Had a bad experience at the other end though. Needed a taxi to station. A little guy grabbed us and proceeded to squeeze 10 Euros each out of us for the trip. THEN he loaded another entire family into the van. We for some reason stopped at a service station. He kept delaying and pushing to drive us all the way to Syracuse for an undisclosed sum. Not until I went ballistic did he finally drive us to the station with 5 minutes to spare. Try uber maybe. Read more Written September 25, 2023

  • 846ecemt 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Trip Last week, we made a trip to Malta-pozzallo. The ferry was very cold. When we asked to turn off the air conditioners, the staff on the ship did not pay attention to us. (Denise S.. one of the employees, took very good care of us. We express our gratitude to him. Thank you for your assistance. He is very friendly and helpful. THANK YOU DENİSE :) ) Read more Written September 4, 2023
  • klegau 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great ferry ship experience Going by one of the Virtu Ferries was our main reason to go to Malta, so spending one day going to Siciliy and back is, well, a bit crazy, but we very much enjoyed the experience. The vessel is just "cool" and we were staying in business class, enough seats available. Definitely we would do this trip again. One star is deducted actually only because of the slow catering service on board but as the main purpose of our trip was the "ship", everything else we consider super fine! • Raff-Daff 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Malta <-> Sicily?! Go Virtu Ferries For our first trip to Sicily with friends, we decided to take the ferry across, and rent a car on the island. We tend to choose a plane, but we're happy we didn't on this occasion. It's an easy way to travel, especially without a car as was our case, and we highly recommend using the Club Class on the upper deck. Better chairs, more spacious and good catering. Though we had rough seas, the voyage was fast and easy, and we look forward to our next crossing! Read more Written June 18, 2023
  • 241sallys 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Avoid Virtu Ferries We reserved a round trip from Pozzallo to Malta and got email confirmations several times, including 3 days before our trip. I specifically asked where to check in, yet the office they told me to report to was closed on Sunday (when we were leaving). When we got our boarding passes, we saw that our return trip was booked for the 7:30 am sailing, even though we were booked and confirmed on the 6:30 pm sailing. Despite multiple phone calls, Virtu Ferries refused to let us on the sailing that we had reserved. We will never book with them again unless we are desperate. They have terrible customer service and clearly do not honor prepaid reservations. Avoid them!!! Read more Written June 8, 2023
  • Faithfultravelerrev 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles All ferry services were excellent Well operated ferry service we were able to enjoy from Valletta, Malta to Pozzallo, Sicily and back, and also from the island of Malta to the island of Gozo and back. Along with the short Valletta to Sliema ferry service, all the ferry crossings were enjoyable, and great opportunities for making memories and keeping them in photos. 10 highlighted pics attached to this review are from our sunrise departure from Valletta and sunset departure from Pozzallo after enjoying a full day in Sicily. • fiftystatesevenconts 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles wonderful day Decided the day before to go to Sicily from Valletta because it was only 68 euros round trip. Ferry had free wifi. Purchased food was terrible, but I should have known better with a captive group. It was less than 2 hours to Sicily and we easily found public buses to take us to the 2 UNESCO towns we wanted, Modica and Ragusa. We spent the entire day wandering around and loved it. The ferry only had one departure from Valletta at 6 am and returned only at 8:30 pm and that made for a long day, but sooo worth it. Now I want to return to Sicily to further explore such a history filled island. Siracusa is the oldest city in Italy and everyone told us it was beautiful, but it was in the opposite direction from Modica and Ragusa. The entire day, not counting the ferry ride, only cost about $15 taking the buses. Read more Written January 20, 2023
  • EmanC1572 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Virtu Ferries is simply the best A superb travelling experience with Virtu Ferries. Boarded their beautiful high speed craft St.John Paul II, the check in staff were great and very friendly with us, especially Mr. Jonathan Tabone and Chief Purser Brenda El Khazmi. Prices on board are for everyone's pocket, we bought from their onboard shop some great perfumes also. The bar staff is amazing.. Arriving in Malta back we were also greeted by a real gentleman who is a security officer there with the name of Alexander Storace . Thanks and well done Virtu Ferries. A full marks review from our family. Keep up the great work and passion Read more Written December 20, 2022
