The PGA Tour is expanding its live video coverage of The Players Championship as far as it can go – every shot by every player in every round.

In a first for golf, and most likely the first step toward video access to every player at every tournament, The Players Championship will offer live streaming of all 144 players in the field.

Coverage will be available to PGA Tour Live subscribers on NBC Sports Gold or Amazon’s Prime Video channels.

''Our vision is to bring every shot in every PGA Tour golf tournament live and on-demand to our fans,’' said Rick Anderson, the chief media officer for the PGA Tour. ''And this is the first step to making that happen.’'

The ambitious production will require about 120 cameras – some stationary, some hand-held and others part of the NBC Sports Group broadcast – to show shots that for the opening two rounds start about 7:40 a.m. and end some 12 hours later.

Augusta National had video coverage of every shot from every player at the Masters this year, though it was available through a catalog of players chosen off its website. The difference at The Players is that every shot will be accessible live.

It’s up to the subscribers to choose whom they want to see.

PGA Tour Live for the last few years has had featured groups in the morning and afternoon that have live streaming, often the biggest names in the field that have consecutive tee times to make it easy for cameras to get to them.

That was expanded this season, with all domestic events in the fall having featured pairings for live streaming.

Now it’s every player, even those who might not be seen at all during a tournament.

''You’ll be able to click on any group and watch that group play, and we do that for every golfer in the field,’' said Luis Goicouria, the Tour’s senior vice president of media. ''We’re not viewing it from the perspective of who wants to watch a certain golfer. We’ve known for many years that the future of our sport absolutely involves taking all the content that is happening live and making that available to our audience. In golf, that’s a huge amount of content.’'

The Tour is using its showcase event for the debut of its latest technology, which is not unusual. It’s where the Tour first tried ''Live at 17'’ by showing every shot from every player on the notorious island-green par-3 17th hole.

The announcement Monday comes as the PGA Tour already is talking to media companies about a new television deal. The current arrangement ends after 2021, and consumption habits are changing rapidly.

The Masters has the smallest broadcast window of the four majors and The Players – 18 hours over four days – and it has widened the digital coverage with live video channels from Amen Corner, the 15th and 16th holes, and a featured group, but still not the entire round. Augusta National prefers limited coverage.

The PGA Tour is all about wall-to-wall coverage, and its global distribution now includes a 10-year deal last year with Discovery and its GOLFTV arm.

''Those platforms are becoming more sophistical, more ubiquitous and more content hungry,’' Goicouria said. ''Live sports of any kind is extremely valuable to media companies. ... If we create and get all the content out there, it will find an audience. And there’s any number of ways to leverage this content.’'

Anderson said it could take as many as five years before the Tour can develop a system where live streaming of every player in the field is available and every tournament, though it was not clear if that included the three events it has in Asia.

The starting point is The Players Championship, which is March 12-15.

''We’re doing it to showcase a really major advancement at our flagship event,’' Anderson said. ''The idea is absolutely to get to a point where it makes economic sense. That’s still some time period away. We wanted to demonstrate it at The Players that we can do that. As it becomes more efficient and the costs come down, it’s something we can do every week eventually.’'

The PGA Tour Live Is Coming to Amazon Prime Video Channels

With your PGA Tour Live subscription, you get access to extra live coverage of select PGA events. Starting December 16, 2018, and running through December 31, 2019, you will get live streams, detailed scoring, and statistics. After each day you will get speed rounds for each featured player giving you a quick shot by shot look at your favorite golfer.

The PGA Tour Live announcement comes about a week after Amazon Prime Video Channels added NBA League Pass. With these additions Amazon Prime Video Channels now allows Prime members to manage their subscriptions to over 100 streaming services such as CBS All Access, Showtime, and HBO Now in a single place.

Other companies are rumored to be working on their own Amazon Channels services. From Roku to Facebook, numerous companies are trying to make managing multiple subscriptions easier. For now Amazon Channels has become the leader when it comes to helping cord cutters manage subscriptions.

No date has been set for when PGA Tour Live will come to Amazon Prive Video Channels but look for it to happen soon.

ESPN+ gets PGA Tour Live starting in 2022; NBC and CBS keep the broadcast and cable rights

It's the second big exclusive sport for ESPN+

Big news for golf fans this week as the PGA Tour also hits one of the biggest events of the year — The Player's Championship — and a pretty major future shift coming to the way you'll watch golf online.

Starting in 2022, ESPN+ becomes the exclusive home for the PGA Tour Live. That's the PGA Tour's subscription streaming video service that's been around since 2015 (you may have seen it advertised on Amazon Prime Video Channels ). It'll expand with four simultaneous feeds from all four days of 28 events throughout the season, and more than 4,000 hours of coverage from a total of 36 tournaments.

The lock-in marks the second major exclusivity agreement for ESPN+, which is the only place you can see UFC pay-per-view events through 2025 ..

In addition, PGA Tour Live also will feature replays of Tour events, original programs, and round recaps edited for time. (Speed golf!)

And, again, the only place you'll be able to get that starting in 2022 is ESPN+.

On the "traditional" television side of things, CBS and NBC will continue to have coverage of most tournaments throughout the year, through 2030. CBS will average about 19 events, and NBC gets eight. FedExCup Playoff events will alternate between the two networks, starting with NBC in 2022, CBS in 2023, and so on. And, of course, the Golf Channel will continue to do its thing.

ESPN+ will provide a significant growth opportunity for PGA TOUR content through its digital reach, innovative platform and young and diverse audience."

Missing from the ESPN+ conversation, however, is the women's side of the sport. It'll still be available on the Golf Channel, and is getting "expanded exposure" on CBS and NBC.

Specifically, the TOUR secured the long-term extension of the LPGA/GOLF Channel partnership (2022-2030) with ancillary programming, including a season preview, season review and Road to the CME Group Tour Championship. In addition, GOLF Channel will provide dedicated programming for the Symetra Tour each year, as well as enhanced marketing and promotional assets and expanded benefits for LPGA sponsors.

Again, this all takes effect in 2022, which isn't quite as far away as it might sounds.

ESPN+ is available on just about any internet-connected device you own, including Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, iOS and Android devices, web browsers, and Xbox. It runs just $4.99 a month for a solo subscription, or you can bundle it up with Hulu and Disney+ for $12.99 a month.

Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain meet again on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League semifinals having met already this season in the group stage. Edin Terzic's men and Luis Enrique's side both came from behind in their respective quarterfinals to eliminate Spanish opponents and set up this first leg at Signal Iduna Park.

BVB are winless in their last two Bundesliga games after a draw with champions Bayer Leverkusen and a thumping at the hands of RB Leipzig who are rivals for a UCL berth. Dortmund are currently fifth in the German topflight and five points adrift of RBL with just three games to go although fifth could be enough for the Champions League if Germany seals the second-best coefficient spot.

PSG recorded wins over Olympique Lyonnais and Lorient before a draw with Le Havre AC but it was actually Lyon's win over Monaco that confirmed Les Parisiens' 12th Ligue 1 title this past weekend . Luis Enrique's men can now focus on their UCL exploits and a potential second-ever final after their maiden 2020 appearance as well as the Coupe de France final vs. OL.

The Germans have won just one of their last six meetings with PSG which came in the 2019-20 round of 16 but they are unbeaten in 10 UCL games at home in a run which included this year's last 16 opponents PSV Eindhoven.

How PSG got here

Luis Enrique's men saw off Barcelona in spectacular fashion to reach these semifinals with a 6-4 aggregate success sealed in Catalonia. This is PSG's third final four appearance from the past five seasons which is a big improvement on some of their earlier efforts. Real Sociedad fell before quarterfinal victims Barca in the round of 16 and it was Dortmund who finished above Les Parisiens in Group F although PSG won 2-0 at home and drew 1-1 away. That 3-1 combination would be enough to send the French champions to the final for the first time since 2020 and the Ligue 1 giants are unbeaten in their last 15 away games across all competitions since losing in Milan.

Dortmund: Ramy Bensebaini and Sebastien Haller are out while Ian Maatsen, Donyell Malen and Mats Hummels are all doubts ahead of the clash. Emre Can and Maatsen served domestic suspensions over the weekend but both could start ahead of Salih Ozcan or Felix Nmecha. Niclas Fullkrug should lead the line with Jadon Sancho and Karim Adeyemi out wide.

B ATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) —  Southern University will hold a campus screening and panel at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 for its episode of the Amazon Prime Series, “The College Tour.”

The program will be at the Valdry Center for Philanthropy at Southern University. Then, a student-moderated panel with the cast will follow, according to a news release from Southern University.

“The College Tour” episode will feature students and programs from the Southern University System. It includes Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Southern University at New Orleans, Southern University Shreveport, Southern University Law Center and Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

“Hosted by Alex Boylan, each episode of ‘The College Tour’ tells the story of what life is truly like on college campuses across the country and around the world. From academics, housing, sports, career preparation, campus life/location and much much more,” said Amazon on their website .

The episode about Southern University will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Tuesday, May 28, the university said.
