Prince Charles and Camilla Are on Their First Royal Tour Since the Pandemic
The royals are in Jordan this week for an overseas visit that was originally scheduled for March 2020.
Back in the days before the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, royal tours were something of a regular occurrence for the British royal family. All of those official visits abroad were, of course, swiftly halted when many countries began to go into lockdown in early 2020, but now, as vaccination rates have gone up and the world has begun to resume some of its previous activities, so too have the royals. This week, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are out on their first overseas trip since the start of the pandemic.
The couple are traveling through Jordan and Egypt for a trip that was originally scheduled for March 2020, prompting Charles to say, "It is always very special indeed to come back to Jordan–I'm sorry this time it is 19 months late," after the couple's arrival in the country on Tuesday. He added, "The fact that we can come back is hugely encouraging."
Charles and Camilla are scheduled to spend four days in Jordan and Egypt, visiting cultural sites, exploring programs like Rania's, and discussing important issues of the day. According to People , Prince Charles's private secretary confirmed that climate change would be a significant talking point, along with inter-faith issues, women's empowerment, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Amman City Tour
A Modern City Built on the Sands of Time;
Enrich your stopover with a tour of Amman. Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative at Royal Jordanian's transit desk, who will guide you on your tour through Amman. The capital of Jordan, Amman is a fascinating city of contrasts with a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley.
The downtown area is uniquely old and traditional, with smaller businesses producing and selling everything from fabulous jewelry to everyday household items.
Start your tour of Amman by visiting the Citadel (Jabal Al-Qala'a) for an unparalleled view of the downtown area. The Citadel sits on the highest hill in Amman and is the sight of ancient Rabath-Ammon. Artifacts dating back from the Bronze Age show that the hill was a fortress and agora.
Then you can pass by the archeological museum, the stunning Roman Theater and the museum of traditional culture for an overview of unique Jordanian heritage. The Roman Theatre was built during the reign of Antonius Pius (138-161 CE) and could seat about 6,000 people.
On the way back, you'll pass by the majestic King Abdullah Mosque from outside with its radiant blue dome.
During the tour, you will have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, and then proceed to the airport for final departure.
This package is inclusive of:
- A “meet and assist” service at Queen Alia International Airport.
- Transportation from/to the airport and touristic sites.
- Entrance fees to the touristic attractions mentioned in the package.
- Either breakfast, lunch or dinner meal in a local restaurant depending on your journey
Duration: 04 – 05 hours
- Opening hours for museums and archaeological sites:
- Winter: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Summer: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

2024 RBC Heritage live stream, TV schedule, how to watch online, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage
There was no rest for the weary with a signature event on tap one week after the masters.
Players have made the short trip from Augusta, Georgia, to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for the 2024 RBC Heritage. In total, 69 golfers teed it up on Harbour Town Golf Links as yet another signature event on the PGA Tour's playing calendar rolls on.
Unlike the Genesis Invitational or Arnold Palmer Invitational, the RBC Heritage does not feature a 36-hole cut, meaning the entirety of the field will be around for the weekend. That is music to the ears to those who missed out on the weekend action at the Masters, including the likes of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.
Spieth, the 2022 champion, looks to kickstart his season after a disappointing showing at Augusta National. He is no stranger to bouncing back at the RBC Heritage, following a missed cut at the year's first major championship with a win a week later in Hilton Head. He's not in contention to win this tournament, but he's certainly playing better than he did last week.
This tournament, like the rest on the PGA Tour these days, goes through Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 1 aims to collect his fourth trophy in his last five tournaments, and he holds the 54-hole lead entering the final day of play. Fresh off slipping on his second green jacket, Scheffler has widened the gap between him and the rest of the world and shows no signs of slowing down. Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Åberg -- just as they did at the Masters -- are breathing down Scheffler's neck on Sunday.
