While there are many things to do that don’t require the assistance of a guide, the gems of Khao Sok National Park can only be explored on a guided tour.

Below is a list of some of the tours that we offer. Plus the amazing “Cheow Lan Lake Tour” which you can see here .

One day trekking

Here is a sample itinerary:

– 9.00 a.m. Departure – on this tour we will trek through the rainforest and you will see many different species of flora, butterflies and birds such as the Great Hornbill. Some animals we may encounter are: monkeys, dusky langurs, wild bear etc. – 10.30 a.m. Arrive at Bang Hua Read where you will find many huge rocks for sun bathing and a swimming hole. – 11.30 a.m. Continue trek to Wang Yaow for lunch, relaxing and swimming. – 1.00 p.m. Depart from Wang Yaow trekking to Tang Nam where the Sok river has eroded a dramatic gorge through the rock and has created a deep swimming pool. Swimming and relaxing. – 3.00 p.m. Return to Khao Sok Jungle Huts Track and Trail Office. – 5.00 p.m. Arrive at office.

Other destinations include Tan Sawan waterfall and Sipet Chan waterfall.

Two days, one night camping

Tour itinerary:

– 9.00 a.m. Departure towards Tan Sawan waterfall. Along the trail we can probably present you a wide range of animals and fantastic scenery of vegetation. – 11.00 a.m. Arrive at Bang Hua Read a place which offers many big rocks for sun bathing and a refreshing swimming hole. We have lunch. Time to relax. – 1.30 p.m. Continue trek towards Tan Sawan. – 3.30 p.m. Looking for a nice place to stay overnight nearby the river. (We know some). Preparing the sleeping places (either hammock or tent). Furnish the cooking utilities out of fresh bamboo. – 6.30 p.m. Cooking, BBQ, eating relaxing. – 8.00 p.m. Night safari. If you dare…

– 8.30 a.m. Breakfast – 10.00 a.m. Depart towards Tan Sawan – 12.30 p.m. Arrive at Tan Sawan waterfall. Time for lunch and relaxation. – 1.30 p.m. Depart trekking through the rainforest passing the Rafflesia flower (when in season). – 4.00 p.m. Arrival at Khao Sok Jungle Huts

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that you will see many different animals, however the night is the best time to find them. During some nights we are lucky to encounter several species of mammals like barking deer, mouse deer, wild pigs, porcupines civets, long-tailed macaques, slow lori etc.

Complete organised personal itinerary + 100% of the time in contact with organisation. We thought at first it might be a bad investment but we were so so wrong. We bought the most luxurious package with glamping and rafthouse. The glamping was Amazing. We got the honeymoon suite and oh my god I would like to stay there to read a book for my whole life. The raft house had an amazing view, but the luxury aspect was more average to high average of what you expect in Thai/SE-asia. So if you can, take the glamping:D

The Cheow Lan Lake, also known as Rajjaprabha Dam Reservoir, is a stunning freshwater lake located within Khao Sok National Park in southern Thailand. The lake was created in 1982 when the Ratchaprapha Dam was constructed across the Phuket River. Our Jungle House is part of a cluster of guest houses at the entrance to Khao Sok National Park. You can get here by private car, airport transfer or public bus from Phuket, Krabi, Surat Thani. We offer private transfers to make life easy, details and pricing are displayed when you book your stay.

There are multiple driving and public transport options from Phuket. Private journeys are the quickest and take approximately 2.5 hours. Public transport can take up to 4 hours.

Travel time from Krabi takes approximately 4 hours. There are no direct public transport options. The most hassle free solution is to book private transfers with us.

The closest transport hub to Khao Sok is Surathani. There are no public transport options from Surathani Airport direct. Private transfers take approximately 2 hours and offer the greatest convenience.

We can arrange private transfers from Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, picking up at Don Sak ferry. From Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi, take a boat to either Phuket or Krabi pier for pickup.

Grand Jungle – Khao Sok Jungle Tour

Khao sok jungle tour 4 days, 3 nights package with 1 night at riverside cottages, 1 night at floating bungalows, and 1 more night at riverside cottages.

Day 1: Arrive at Riverside Cottages for check in and be shown to your room. In the afternoon, explore the river by canoeing or hop on top of a rubber ring and go river tubing . At the end of the day, continue the Khao Sok Jungle Tour with a night safari to look for nocturnal wildlife or skip the night hike and get a relaxing one hour Thai massage.

Day 2:  Continue the adventure with an overnight trip to Cheow Larn Lake. Join with a guide and a group of 10-18 other guests, take a boat ride through incredible scenery to a raft house where you will have lunch. In the afternoon, swim in the emerald waters, tour the jungle, or spend some time kayaking.  After a fresh dinner (included), spend the night in a floating bamboo bungalow. Please note that the floating bungalows at the lake are very rustic, and there is a shared bathroom (private bathrooms are not available).

Day 3:  Wake up early for a morning mist safari, and look for giant hornbills, monkeys, and gibbons feeding in the trees before breakfast. Check out of your room and relax, swim, or kayak until lunch, then return to Riverside Cottages in the afternoon.

Day 4:  End your Khao Sok jungle tour with a half-day hike in Khao Sok National park or take a short drive to a scenic viewpoint and the warm waters of the hot springs. Program finishes with checkout at noon.

Example Itinerary

• We start the jungle tour by picking you up from your hotel in Khao Lak and drive out of town and into the hills surrounding Khao Lak.

• Arrive at a small jungle temple near a waterfall in the hills overlooking Khao Lak.

• Trek into the thick rainforest and follow a jungle stream deep into the jungle.

• Along the hiking trail, our guide will show some key resources and skills used by local people in the jungle.

• Stop for a rest by the jungle stream for a cup of ‘jungle coffee’. Our guide will show you how to cook rice in the jungle using freshly cut bamboo.

• Emerge from the jungle and enjoy a Thai style lunch with the rice you cooked over the camp fire in the jungle.

• Take a look around the nearby community sustainable farming project and feed the animals while you learn more about the importance of the jungle in local life.

• Drive back to your Khao Lak hotel in time for cocktails by the pool.

Although Khao Lak is popular with tourists, the mountains and jungles surrounding the town are all but ignored by visitors. Most visitors automatically flock to the more famous Khao Sok National Park for jungle tours and a taste of life in the tropical rainforest. Often ignoring the fact that their hotel in Khao Lak is surrounded by lush jungle covered mountains, every bit as spectacular as the mountains in Khao Sok.

Join us as we take you away from the tourists and up into the mountains on an exclusive Khao Lak jungle tour! Exploring the jungles in Khao Lak means that there are no long drives and no wasting time.

As there are less tourists disturbing the natural feel and very few other jungle tours in Khao Lak, wildlife in the Khao Lak jungles still behave in a much more natural way.

This may mean that you are less likely to get an up-close encounter, but it does mean that you are also less likely to have your camera stolen by a monkey expecting to be fed!

The Khao Lak jungles have been sustaining life in this area for hundreds of years. During quiet times in Khao Lak, walks in the jungle are one of our favorite Khao Lak activities. You can always be sure of a beautiful day out followed by a good night’s sleep.

Khao Lak Jungle Tour Adventure

We will start the jungle tour by picking you up from your hotel in Khao Lak with our local style ‘songteaw’ taxi. This style of transport is a great way to see the Khao Lak countryside as we take you a on a short drive up, into the hills.

After a short drive we arrive at a small jungle temple with a small but dramatic waterfall that is perfect for photos. From here we begin our jungle trek through the lush rainforest and the jungle tour begins for real! As we walk our guide will point out some of the natural resources and foodstuffs that the local people forage for in the jungle. The trek is fairly gentle and usually lasts about half an hour to 45 minutes each way. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for Khao Lak wildlife along the way!

After a while we will arrive at a picturesque clearing by the stream where our guide will help you to make coffee and rice cooked in bamboo over a campfire, jungle style. After lunch we will take a drive over to the nearby sustainable community farming project to feed the animals and learn a bit more about the lives of the local people before heading back to your Khao Lak hotel.

Wildlife in Khao Lak

There are many exotic animals in Thailand. Khao Lak is home to a huge range of plant and wildlife. Including Asian tapir, wild boar, black giant squirrels, common tree shrews and southern red muntjac deer. If some reports are to be believed there is even evidence of tigers and Asia black bears. There is also over 80 species of bird around Khao Lak including great hornbills, great argus, red junglefowl and Malay brown barbets.

Although of course there is never a guarantee that we will see these animals on our jungle tour or any other Khao Lak nature tour, there is great pleasure in knowing you are in with a chance! For most visitors, the only chance to experience wildlife in Khao Lak is by visiting wildlife in captivity. There are many elephant camps in Khao Lak which allow customers to experience animals up close, with varying levels of animal welfare standards. Experiencing Khao Lak wildlife in the wild is always the best way, and the most exciting.

One of the most important and versatile plants growing in the Khao Lak jungle is bamboo. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet, making it just as sustainable as it is useful. It can be used in almost any situation. From fire lighting, to building, to cooking and making clothes. You can even eat it and use it to harvest fresh drinking water.

As part of our Khao Lak safari and jungle tour, we try to educate our visitors in importance of the jungle eco-systems, both locally and worldwide. FAQ’s

Is the walk difficult.

The trail is through thick jungle. However, the path is not steep. We take it slow and there is no set route so we only have to walk as far as we want to.

What do I need to wear?

It is best to wear light weight clothes that breathable and can dry easily. Boots or full foot shoes are recommended along with long trousers and sleeves.

A hat is also a good idea.

How do I book?
