  • lenee m 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great tour of LA, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood! She was very prompt picking us up at the airport! I had requested to visit the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary in LA to see the graves of many celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Kirk Douglas, Dean Martin, Farrah Fawcett, etc! It was just awesome to see all of them and more! Our next ride was through Beverly Hills, the Chinese Theater, and seeing the Hollywood sign! I got to see all of these places I have always dreamed of wanting to see! She was even kind enough to stop and let us get some lunch to take back to the airport! We had a wonderful time and I HIGHLY recommend you doing this! Read more Written March 18, 2021
  • CluningJ 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, Santa Monica, Venice Beach Fantastic private tour company. Our tour guide Jenny was amazing and tailored a tour of Hollywood Sign, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Santa Monica & Venice Beach for my family. She was so flexible with the time we spent in each location and we had such a memorable day. Highly recommend this private tour company. Thanks Jenny! Read more Written January 1, 2020
  • GandKCampbell 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Excellence day seeing LA sites with Kim We had 13 hr lay over in LA so contacted Sara at Layoverstop. She suggested the 5 hr tour around LA. Visiting and sometimes stopping at Venice, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Hollywood. We were assigned a tour guide (Kim), who met us at LAX. Great communication meant we were collected at the spot we had agreed on. Kim knows LA well and we had a great time and filled in the time needed before she dropped us back at LAX for our flight to NZ. Your bags travel with you so no need to find a storage facility (which I understand is not easy in the area). If you need to fill in a half day or so, ensure you check these guys out. Tks again Kim and Sara Read more Written May 18, 2019
  • CrazyArcher7 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles One of the best trips, Thanks Jenny! I had a chance to stop in LA for some time on the weekend of 9thFeb2019. I'm a solo traveller most of the times. Was wondering how to visit the place on my own, without getting along with a group. I wanted something customized for me, like a private tour of wherever I wanted to go. And thats when, found the this group on Tripadvisor. The best part about my trip was Jenny. Who took me around the whole of LA. Beverly Hills.. shopping in Hollywood.. walk of fame.. rodeo drive.. the list goes on. I would highly recommend this group to anyone looking for a private or customized trip of LA. The best part is they have some amazing women to show you all the beautiful places in the limited time you have. Thank you Jenny, for a memorable trip and i am coming back .. this time with more time on my hand. :) Read more Written March 2, 2019

  • Ovens3738 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Best decision ever! We had a total of 6 hours between our flights in LA. Our children are 4 and 7 and I couldn’t think of anything worse than trying to keep them occupied in a boring airport. LayoverStop Tours was the answer! The booking process was simple and we received an email from our driver Jenny a week before our departure date. Jenny told us what car she would be picking us up in and that a red balloon would be in the car to make it easier to spot her. Even though getting through immigration was horrendous, (we waited for 50 minutes!) AND please ensure you have an ESTA, (visa required to enter the US), the tour was great. Jenny picked us on time and had water and fruit for us to snack on for our little trip. We really wanted to see the Hollywood sign and go to Venice and Muscle Beach and we got to do that!! The kids were tired so they got to nap in the car while we drove around. We also had time to drive down Hollywood Boulevard, jump out to see the Chinese Theatre and look at some of the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jenny was a wealth of knowledge and so friendly and and accommodating. I would probably recommend doing this tour if you had 6 hours or more to kill between flights. The delays going through customs, made it a little bit tight but, so, so happy we did this tour. Great value for money, easy to do with children and a great way to spend time, that would otherwise have been a nightmare trying to keep our kids entertained. Such a great idea. Thank you again Jenny, from the very jet lagged Aussies!!! Read more Written December 14, 2018
  • Beverley R 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Kudos to Jenny - Fabulous way to spend 4 hours while on layover at LAX Jenny picked us up right on schedule, and suggested an itinerary that was perfect as we were travelling with a 13 year old. We started at Venice Beach just as the sun was setting. It was beautiful and our 13 year old was able to rent a scooter and go up and down the boardwalk. We then drove through Beverley Hills and went to In and Out Burger for dinner - an icon unavailable in our part of the world. After that, we walked some streets in Hollywood, looking at the stars in the sidewalk, then returned to the airport. Not only an excellent driver, Jenny was full of information, fun to spend time with and made our 36 hour journey home so pleasant. She was wonderful. Read more Written November 30, 2018
  • hpsummer 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles What a great day! My sister and I had the pleasure of a Layover Stop tour this week. Our host, Jenny, was marvellous from the time she picked us up at our hotel to dropping us off at the airport. The car was spotlessly clean and water and snacks were provided. We visited every place on our "list" and got some great pics. Jenny is friendly, laid back, has plenty of local knowledge and a great sense of humour. Being able to sit back, relax and be chauffeured to wherever we wanted to go, with great company, was the perfect way to end our trip. I could not recommend Jenny, or Layover Stop more highly. • MotherSimon 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Reema and the time she spent with us was “BLOODY BRILLIANT”. There are not enough superlatives to describe the 5 or so hours we spent with Reema during our layover in LA. It was like catching up with an Old Friend. We had just got off a flight from Australia and had been travelling for nearly 20 hrs and wanted to see some of LA before a nights sleep and a domestic flight first thing the next morning. Touring with Reema was the answer. She picked us up at our hotel with fresh fruit, snacks and water and then we were off. Taking us through lots of different neighbourhoods so we could see the variety of lifestyles, we discussed cost of living, work opportunities, lifestyles, compared livi in Sydney to other parts of the world - basically we had real conversations. As we drove around we saw the Hollywood sign, drove through Beverley Hills, went to the walk of fame, Chinese theatre, Looked at the memorabilia at Hard Rock, explored Hotel Roosevelt and saw where the Oscars are held now. We went to Rodeo Drive, Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier and all had dinner together at a burger joint called “Hi Ho”, a little hole in the wall joint with a limited menu with THE BEST Cheeseburgers we have ever eaten. I cannot even tell you how good. The menu is limited to cheeseburgers for a reason, they are so good. Anyway back to Reema and Layover stop - if you have a short amount of time to see LA and you want to experience something really different and authentic, contact Reema and the team. You would be supporting a start up by a young women that employs other like minded young women, It’s such a great concept I wish I had thought of it. Thank you Reema for a great time, it was so wonderful to meet you, oh and thanks for stopping so I could buy milk to have with my cup of tea that night. Read more Written September 30, 2018
  • neildeal2018 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great solution for a long LAX layover After passing thru LAX many times and getting caught with long layovers and a suitcase to lug around I searched for a private tour guide and found layoverstop tours. On the day I got caught with a 2 hour queue at border control before exiting the building. I was unable to inform my host of the delay as there was no phone service in the border control area. When I stepped outside I was so relieved to find that my host was still waiting. Thank you Reema for your patience. With 2 hours less time available for a tour Reema put the best improvised tour together that you could imagine. We visited the Venice and Santa Monica areas and Reema dropped me downtown at the Amtrak station to finish my tour. Thank you Reema for your guiding, your enthusiasm, and your intelligent conversation. Read more Written September 11, 2018

We had an 8 hour layover on our way home to Australia and it was certainly better than being stuck in the airport. Mona was very accommodating and easy to get ahold of. Her Mazda SUV was very comforting and we were able to fit ALL of our luggage in the boot. Mona recommended we go to the original LA markets which were awesome and something we hadn’t heard of before. Awesome tour. Would definitely do again. Read more Written August 30, 2018
  • Marcovojage 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A great day out in between connecting flights at LAX Having visited Los Angeles before for business, on this occasion I wanted my family to “experience it all” during a stop over on the way to Papeete. We had about seven hours in total and knew that with bus tour or hop on we would have not seen much in the available time. Also, it is very warm in LA this time of the year and I was concerned about a tour in the heat turning unpleasant rather than fun. This is when I came across LayoverStop proposal for a personalized tour on a convertible car! That looked instantly like easy and yet dynamic and fun. And this is exactly what it was. Super convenient as we were picked up on the curb just outside the terminal. As we landed in LAX a message from our guide was already making connection, thus all we had to do was to ring past passport control and there was a wonderful convertible red mustang with Reena at the wheel and in less that one minute we were off to Venice beach: a nice stroll and then off to Santa Monica with Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills and South Bay ti complete the day with a very special seafood dinner at Captain Kidd! By 9.30 pm, we were back at Lax for our connecting flight - just perfect. Throughout the tour Reena introduced us to the various sights and was always spot on time at every pick up. In the end we could settle the bill easily by credit card, no surprises, no extra cost even if dinner at South Bay made our itinerary a little longer than originally planned. Highly recommend the services of LayoverStop: all run by sporty, classy lady drivers! Ciao Read more Written August 19, 2018

Sleeping in Airports

LAX Airport Layover Sightseeing

This article includes links to our travel partners at Tripadvisor, where you can read traveller reviews, book tours and plan your visit to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Airport Layover Sightseeing

Airport Overview

The massive LAX is another institution in American air travel. The nine separate terminals can be a mission to navigate – as can transfers into the city center. As such, those faced with an LAX layover of less than six hours might be better suited to staying in the terminals. Restaurants make for great spaces to people watch, while rotating photography and art exhibits better give you a taste of the city itself. Check out our Los Angeles Airport Guide for more information on the airport.

Los Angeles Sightseeing Attractions

Below are a few of the top things to do in Los Angeles:

Santa Monica Beach

Los Angeles Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Beach is the most accessible major beach from the airport in Los Angeles. Here, you can happily spend a few hours outdoors while gazing out onto the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding mountains. Restaurants, a small amusement park, an outdoor shopping mall and countless street performers provide entertainment as you wander the pier and the shoreline. It is also extremely convenient that the LAX FlyAway service directly connects here and the airport. Should you be faced with less time, Marina del Rey is a beach located even closer to the airport – it just happens to be a little less ‘classically Californian.’

  • Time Required: We recommend a minimum of an hour for a stroll along the beach. Should you wish to have a sit-down meal or do more extensive shopping, more time is required. This does not include travel time to and from the airport.
  • How to Get There: Check out this Google Map for details on public and private transit options and the required time. Remember to factor rush hour traffic and security wait times into your travel time estimates.
  • Plan Your Visit: Visit Tripadvisor for more information about visiting the Santa Monica Pier, book a tour or read traveller reviews.

Los Angeles Airport Hollywood

It would be hard to visit LA without making it to Hollywood Boulevard and its countless iconic landmarks. Again, the connection time between the airport is a bit more convoluted; once you make it, you will be steps away from the Hollywood sign, the Kodak and Dolby theatres, and, of course, the Walk of Fame. With some extra time, you may want to pop into a few famed restaurants and museums, including Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Ripley’s Believe it Or Not Odditorium, or the Musso and Frank Grill.

  • Time Required: To cover most of the major sights that line Hollywood Boulevard, we recommend a minimum of two hours – plus transit time. Remember to factor rush hour traffic and security wait times into your travel time estimates. This estimate does not include transport to and from the airport.
  • How to Get There: Check out this Google Map for details on public and private transit options and the required time.
  • Plan Your Visit: Visit Tripadvisor for more information about visiting Hollywood, book a tour or read traveller reviews.

Howard Hughes Promenade

If you have barely enough time to leave the airport, the Howard Hughes Promenade might be the best place to visit. This shopping center is the closest outdoor mall to LAX (15 – 30 minutes), offering excellent shopping opportunities. The Nordstrom Rack outlet store is one of the most visited shops, given its incredible deals on name brands. The mall also has a movie theatre and several restaurants. Of course, if you are a serious shopper, you may want to head further into the city to explore the celebrity-filled Robertson Boulevard or the famous Rodeo Drive.

  • Time Required: Shopping at Howard Hughes Promenade requires a minimum of an hour – plus transit time. Add additional time if you plan to sit down at a restaurant or dive into the shops and discounts!
  • Plan Your Visit: Visit Tripadvisor for more information about visiting the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center, book a tour or read traveller reviews.

Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour

Los Angeles Hop-On Hop-off Bus

Would you be interested in seeing all the highlights of LA rather than just picking a single one? The Hop On – Hop Off option may be your best bet. Starlines runs four routes throughout LA, covering major sights in Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Brentwood and Century City. Some of the most famous stops include Rodeo Drive, The Farmer’s Market & The Grove, China Town, the La Brea Tar Pits and the Chateau Marmont Hotel. The beauty of these tours is that they enable you to jump off and explore various sights at your own pace while providing seamless connections between all the major destinations. There are a few easier ways to check off that city bucket list on a layover.

  • Time Required: Each route lasts approximately two hours, assuming you do not get off. Be sure to factor in additional time for exploring the various sights and perhaps some shopping and eating. Tickets can be purchased for 24, 48 or 72-hour windows.
  • How to Get There: Unfortunately, public transit does not easily connect the airport to the points of the tour, so your best bet is to take a taxi to one of the stops somewhere in the city on your particular tour.
  • Plan Your Visit: Visit Tripadvisor for more information about Los Angeles bus tours, book a tour or read traveller reviews.

Airport Transportation

LAX is connected to Los Angeles through several private and public transit options.

Public transit options include:

  • Bus (Metro Bus Center): The free “C” shuttle connects passengers to the airport bus terminal from the LAX Shuttle and Airline signs at each Arrivals Hall. From the Bus Center, you can board buses from several companies that service the broader Los Angeles region. For schedules and rates: LA Metro Transit Information
  • Light Rail (Aviation Station): To reach the city’s light rail line, passengers must board the free “G” shuttle service at the LAX Shuttle and Airline sign in the arrivals hall. From there, you can take the Green Line into the suburbs and connect to the lines that run into downtown LA.

Private transit options include:

  • LAX FlyAway (Arrivals Halls Island, ‘FlyAway’ Sign): Regularly scheduled round-trip bus routes between LAX and critical locations in the city (Expo, Union Station, Van Nuys, Westwood, Santa Monica and Hollywood).
  • Taxi (Arrivals Halls): Connects LAX to the city center – but be wary of traffic!
  • Shared Ride Van: Shared taxis are run by Prime Time and Super Shuttle and allow you to share a ride with those travelling to the same destination for a reduced price.
  • Car Rental: Several rental companies have stations in the Arrivals Hall of LAX terminals. Shuttles are then organized out to the off-airport rental car terminal.

Before You Go: Layover Tips

Now that you are motivated and excited about your mini layover vacation, check a few final logistical concerns off your list before you fully commit.

  • Do you need to organize a visa to leave the airport? Requirements change frequently and for each nationality, so be sure to seek out current details on the availability, cost and procedures of obtaining a transit visa.
  • When is your next flight’s check-in time? Double-check with your airline exactly when you need to be at the airport – and plan your layover accordingly.
  • What are security wait times like at the airport? Some airports are notorious for extended security wait times, so research in advance and factor that into your overall time budget.
  • What’s happening with your luggage? When you check in to your first flight, confirm whether your luggage is checked through or needs to be picked up between your connecting flights. Visit our Los Angeles Airport Guide for information about Luggage Storage.

Travel hacks, insider tips to enjoy a long layover at LAX like a California local

There is an inside joke among locals in Los Angeles — their airport is always under construction.

With over 75 million passengers last year, Los Angeles International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. With nine passenger terminals it holds the record for most terminals in the world , according to travel deal platform Going.

In 2017, LAX began an ambitious $30 billion renovation to redesign the airport experience . Although the upgrades aren’t entirely finished — the airport expects the project could end in 2030 — the completed renovations have already made LAX a much more enjoyable place to be.

Which is surprising for anyone from Los Angeles to admit.

For those on a long layover after landing in the City of Angels, hitting the streets might be tempting. But for any tourist unfamiliar with Los Angeles, between the traffic, the sprawling landscape and an often-long Transportation Security Administration line awaiting your return, it’s very easy to lose track of time and come dangerously close to missing a flight.

Redditors agree the safest sight to see is the In-N-Out down the street. Or there’s the LAX-adjacent food hall Proud Bird , for comfort food and cold beer.

However, travelers on an LAX layover are in luck: They don’t need to leave the airport at all to make the most of their short stint in California.

The renovation project has connected all nine LAX terminals for the first time. If there are a few extra hours between flights, travelers can access any airport area with a brisk walk. From end to end, terminals 1 through 8 — including the Tom Bradley International Terminal, aka Terminal B, between terminals 3 and 4 — the walk is a little over 2 miles and takes about 35 minutes.

Along the way, tucked within the sprawling airport, are places for peace and relaxation, if you know where to look.

Best views of coastal tarmacs

The best location for  plane spotting at LAX is the Delta Sky Club. But this year, Delta updated its lounge policies and even some elite status holders can’t enter without booking an upgraded class.

For all of us in economy, those views might be off-limits. But don’t worry — there are plenty of opportune places to watch the planes go by.

Plane spotters can find views of different airfields between Terminal 3 and Terminal 4. The indoor lookout is perfect for catching takeoffs and landings.

Before security, passengers can catch also views of the iconic Theme Building between terminals 1 and 2.

The space-age landmark has become LAX’s most famous feature, constantly appearing in movies and TV shows. The four-legged, modern building was constructed over 60 years ago and the Los Angeles City Council designated it a historical monument in 1992.

LAX invested in eateries with celebrity pull, like Ludacris’ Chicken and Beer and The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck . But if you can’t step out of the airport for some of Los Angeles’ more iconic eats, you can still find them inside the airport.

In 1991,  Urth Caffé opened its doors in Manhattan Beach. The food has made it an Instagram-worthy mecca, often with lines wrapped around the corner for its “health-conscious approach,” and there are now locations all over Southern California. The airport menu of Urth Caffé & Bar is a bit limited, but its breakfast items are still worth a try.

The giant doughnut statue that locals and tourists easily recognize at Randy’s Donuts in Inglewood made its way inside Terminal 7 in 2023, as a miniature version. Made fresh daily, the doughnuts are delivered from the original location.

While See’s Candies has expanded to other parts of the country, its original shop opened in Los Angeles in 1921 , and more than half of the company’s stores are still in California. There are several See’s Candies outposts in LAX. A great souvenir to bring home is the Milk California Brittle, made with California almonds and wrapped in milk chocolate.

The Grove, a reputable outdoor mall in Los Angeles, has a longstanding  Farmers Market that’s charmed locals for nearly a century. There’s a mini version inside LAX with a variety of meals, snacks, coffee, wine and tea, plus a relief that’s an homage to the market’s distinguished clock tower.

Like other airports in the state , LAX remakes its corridors into a curated museum.

One of the more captivating pieces is a 94-foot-long, hand-painted mural between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 called “Bird’s Eye View.” Painted by Erin Miller Wray, the mural reenacts when a plane prepares for landing. With bright colors and geometric shapes, the mural reveals itself deeper with a closer look, but after stepping back, you start to see the bigger picture.

The mixed-media piece “Awake in the Dream” by Chenhung Chen uses drawings and sculptures to convey information about the Taoist concept of chi and the artist’s beliefs about nature. Chen took wires and electrical conduits and stapled, wove, bound and crocheted them into a fresher outlook.

Killing time in LA

Forgot to pack an Xbox or a PlayStation? Make your way to one of the Gameway lounges. The premium video game lounges are in Terminal 3 and Terminal 6. Make a reservation to settle into the leather gaming chairs and dig into popular titles like Fortnite, FIFA, Madden, Call of Duty and Minecraft.

If you’re more interested in relaxing after a long flight, LAX travelers can check into a Be Relax Spa . Located in Terminal 1 and Terminal B, the spas offer massages, manicures, pedicures and facials. Be Relax recommends making appointments, but it also accepts walk-ins.

Although LAX has been making improvements, more projects are still on the way, such as the highly anticipated  Automated People Mover train system — an over-2-mile elevated guideway.

The seemingly never-ending construction is expected to wrap up in a few years and, once complete, the new LAX may challenge its rotten reputation as one of the worst airports in the country .

How To Get from Los Angeles International Airport to Los Angeles [2024]

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. and serves as a primary gateway city for flights to the South Pacific and Asia. It’s a massive complex with multiple terminals, tons of traffic, and a terrible transit system to get into or around LA.

We’ll show you the best ways to get from LAX to downtown, taking into account cost, reliability, and ease.

Los Angeles International Airport is different from many other U.S. airports, which is worth describing when discussing transit options. While LAX is the primary airport for the LA region, LA is absolutely massive — there are numerous destinations in the city, from Santa Monica to Beverly Hills to Manhattan Beach to downtown.

Most travelers aren’t likely headed to downtown LA, unlike other major cities, where you’re usually headed to one spot (like Manhattan, from JFK , for example). Because of this, it’s tough to describe the available transit options since there are so many different places to go. Los Angeles is a city that’s not very convenient for public transit, so when getting around, you’ll need to rely heavily on ride-share and taxis.

There are several Los Angeles area airports:

  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the primary airport for the region and serves as a hub for Alaska, American, Delta, JetBlue, and United. It’s the largest airport in the area and can handle the largest planes.
  • John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA) is in Orange County and is especially convenient for people visiting Anaheim, Huntington Beach, and Newport Beach, among others.
  • Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) is located north of Los Angeles and is actually the closest airport to downtown Los Angeles if you’re headed there.
  • Long Beach Airport (LGB) is the smallest airport in the area. It is situated just north of the city of Long Beach and primarily serves the Long Beach area.

FlyAway Bus at LAX

One of the easiest ways to get from LAX to downtown LA is the FlyAway bus , which departs from every terminal. Simply walk outside from baggage claim on the bottom level and proceed to the FlyAway bus stops, which are very clearly signed with large blue wraps around support poles.

The FlyAway bus departs regularly , usually about once every half hour. The same bus stops at all terminals, so depending on airport traffic and how many passengers are getting on, it can actually take a while to make the loop within the airport, so plan on a little buffer time on your journey. The FlyAway bus serves Union Station in downtown LA, where it’s easy to catch Amtrak or other rail services to points north or south of LA or the subway system to local stops within LA.

Once the bus arrives, the driver will assist you with baggage and place it in the hold below. The bus is a big coach-style bus, so there are plenty of seats and a relatively comfortable ride. Once the bus leaves the airport, it’s usually about a 30- to 40-minute ride to the train station , though traffic can obviously change that.

When you arrive at Union Station, you must purchase a $9.75 ticket from the ticket booth. Then, you’ll need to show that ticket to the driver to collect your luggage. It’s a relatively straightforward system and the fastest public transit option to downtown LA.

LA Metro Aviation Station

An on-site metro or subway system does not currently serve LAX , so if you wish to take LA’s public transit system, it’s a tad convoluted in its current form.

First, you must catch the Metro C Line (formerly the Green Line) bus shuttle on the lower baggage claim level. Each terminal has a clearly marked shuttle stop. Once you board the bus, it’s about a 10-minute ride to Aviation/LAX station, situated off the airport property. At this station, you can board the Metro C Line train headed towards Norwalk.

At Willowbrook/Rosa Parks, you need to exit the train and transfer to the Blue Line train in the direction of downtown LA. It will take well over an hour to get from LAX to downtown LA via the Compton area. Keep in mind that this train passes through what is known as one of LA’s more unsafe neighborhoods, so it may not be the best option for most travelers.

LAX It Bus

All ride-share vehicles depart from the LAX-it lot across the street from Terminal 1. Instead of ride-share vehicles picking you up at the terminals, you must head to this designated lot for pickup. Free shuttle buses depart each terminal regularly , though it’s only about a 20-minute walk from the farthest terminal.

Once you’re at the ride-share lot, follow the signs to the company you’re using (Uber or Lyft, for example). Usually, there’s a long line of ride-share vehicles waiting to pick up rides, though occasionally, you need to wait as drivers finish rides at the nearby terminal. The average price from LAX to downtown LA is around $46.

If the wait times for a ride-share are extreme or prices high, you may want to consider walking a bit further down from the LAX-it lot to the Hyatt Regency hotel or some of the other nearby hotels. Sometimes, you can catch a ride here much faster.

LAX It Lot with Umbrella

Taxis also pick up from the same LAX-it lot that ride-share vehicles pick up at.

You can expect to pay around $51 for a one-way trip from the airport to downtown, excluding tip. As with many major airports, traffic can be extremely bad coming from the airport, so you’ll want to keep this in mind if you’re using a taxi.

LAX Limo Pickup

You can hire a car and driver to pick you up curbside and take you right to your destination. While this option can be expensive, it can be somewhat economical if you have multiple people and bags.

Here’s what you can expect to pay:

  • $128 for a business SUV that can fit 3 people
  • $145 for a business SUV that can fit 6 people
  • $174 for a first-class sedan that can fit 3 people
  • $217 for a luxury SUV that can fit 6 people
  • $254 for a transit vehicle that can fit 10 people

Unfortunately, despite being one of the largest airports on the West Coast, LAX is not a transit-friendly airport. Because of the lack of transit, taking a ride-share or taxi can be incredibly convenient, depending on where you’re headed.

The FlyAway bus is a great public transit option and is very cheap, too. Once you get to Union Station, you have access to local trains and are within walking distance of many downtown Los Angeles attractions, making it one of the best ways to get into LA.

Top 5 airlines serving from Los Angeles to Anywhere

I didn’t not like that I could not select my seat and ended up with the worse seat.

Great, on time departure, friendly and accommodating crew, great leg room, Smith flight

Honestly, I didn’t expect that I will experience this long time wait during the check in. There was only one person who was taking care of the passengers for the economy class and it took us to wait about one hour to do our check i. As a result we barely get to the airplane as the gate was at the end of the airport. That is totally not professional where one crue is working at the registration desk with economy and 3-4 crues are helping for the business class.

I guess they don’t serve drinks on planes anymore

Delta planes have the WORST seat comfort of any plane in history. It's the opposite of ergonomic, in every sense. They also recline minimally, are covered in a vinyl and have no feet rests. Then the disembarking process is chaotic and time consuming (because of the way they load the plane and deal with luggage). Overall, somewhat frustrating but we arrived safely :)

It was a very smooth ride. Not sure on a flight departing at midnight can be much better but it was late arriving and I had an early day so really just the logistics.

Really liked the choice of the 4 free snack options. Crew great. Good vibe on plane.

Very disappointed in the food selection. It was not good compared to other airlines.

Good breakfast granola bar good crew seamless flight and baggage transfer we’ll done!

Everything was great but the difference in paying for comfort + did not seem worth it.

Great. Loved that there was WiFi on flight to keep in touch and excellent service of beverages and snacks.

Business class is great. New airplane, very comfortable, better than some of the major airlines I am used to

Terrible. Flight was cancelled due to the weather in the east and sout east(florida). Did not get any compesation of any kind. According to them, it was not under their control so I lost all the money paid for the 2 fairs from Raleigh, NC to Orlando, Fl.

great flight. Pilot was communicative, flight attendants were excellent. Really nice experience except my tv didn’t work.

Overall, the flight was better than the flight I took to go to Florida, which had a bunch of problems. The crew is really nice and the plane was new so it had a small problem when we were on the runway, but the flight itself was great. They even made some time back up, which is always a good thing.

at the time for boarding the lady just call Group A and no other goups and everybody from A to F go inside without the right turn, and when we get in theres no more spsce for carry on , the ones that get in at not correct group from the back occupy our space !!!!! a mess !!!!

I really liked the way snacks and drinks were available throughout the flight!!! The flight attendants were also all fantastic!

Best Thing flight took less time than programmed, quick entry and exit. Recommended!

Always like Jet Blue! It seems, however, that people are getting bigger & seats are getting smaller! We had a very full flight and I couldn't get an aisle seat like I always do. I wish there were more leg room. People sitting next to me were very nice though so it was fine to disturb them if I needed to use the restroom. Otherwise the flight was fine but a bit long.

For some reason, the seats on this flight seemed unusually uncomfortable. Speaking with friends who took another JetBlue flight later in the day, they brought up the same issue.

Left 2 hours later for delayed I had to take care a kid with special need since people don’t want to move to accommodate the rest of the family. . It wasn’t bad but that made me upset that people can be that selfish.

For a 22 minute flight all you expect is for it to be safe and comfortable

Flight was on time. Staff were friendly. I paid for Economy Plus but was required to check my standard carry-on luggage due to lack of space on the aircraft. This cost me 30 minutes, unexpectedly, in waiting at the baggage claim. This experience did not meet my expectations.

No snacks served! Seating in the kast row in uncomfortable.

Wouldn’t let me check in said couldn’t find a ticket had to wait very long Time

I liked that we arrived earlier, you could improve your snacks give away

Flight was fine, it was delayed but only 30 minutes, staff were efficient, lady making announcements at LAX was really hard to understand but the rest were great.

I really enjoyed the staff and crew! Very positive and happy people! Made the experience easier! The entertainment was a bit lack luster. Better movie options as well as equipment that works smoother could be nice. My ear buds from the airline didn’t work and my tv screen had a terrible delay that made it hard to search for things to watch. Also the selections were very limited.

Flight was diverted to Canberra because Not enough fuel to circle on Sydney’s skies waiting for showers to pass. After that everything went wrong. It took forever to put fuel. Once back rolling, we stopped short of takeoff because crew had reached maximum work hours per shift. Back to gate we waited and waited in the plane with no water and no food - a total of 4 hours. Received contrasting news about the follow up of our trip. Finally we disembarked but our luggage could not be processed there as not enough custom agents. We ended up on buses and arrived at Sydney airports after a 3 hours trip. There we had to queue in line with 240 more passengers to file a lost luggage claim. We received the luggage after 48 hours, many of which spent holding with non-existent United customer service. Never able to speak to an actual person during those long phone calls. Finally on a chatline I could talk to a baggage agent, who filed another report as our luggage did not appear anywhere in their system. Thus it was surprising to get it back.

I got upgraded, so comfort was not an issue. But as always, it is the people from baggage handlers, flight attendants, pilots etc. that make the difference.

The experience was great and much better than the flight going out. of course I was in first class but the service was excellent

Comfort of seats, ease of boarding. Food selection could be better

Food options were limited which is absolutely embarrassing for a Flight of this size The staff did not come around as much and I am not accustomed to such poor service from American Airlines Drinks I believe were limited to soda and water

Crew were attentive and friendly. Flight was smooth and early! I enjoyed the less crowded plane. Thank you!

You cancelled my flight by email then made it very difficult to get in contact with you. Then put me in a flight with a long layover in Mexico returning to the wrong airport in uk. Mind blowing my stressful. I missed see my grand dad because of you.

This was not the BA business class it used to be. Mediocre food, attendants seemed stretched thin. All the little luxuries that used to make BA business fun were missing. Flight delayed and the explanation given was they forgot to pick up crew - I hope I misheard! Transfer in LHR “sticky” - we thought we had way too much time at 3hours but it was needed. Next time will try different route.

The food at Admirals Club was really great Pijamas were a nice feature The flight attendant was very nice and great attitude The aa.com does not work well specially internet service Overall a very good flight .

Nothing, flight was supposed to leave at 758 am. My flight didn’t leave until 430 pm. Spent the whole day at the airport.

Flight a little late. Entertainment system didn’t work for first hour. Toilets dirty after 2 hours. Is there no one assigned to clean them?

Food was very average. And top up drinks offer was absent. For a 11 hour long flight that should be the minimum. The crew didn't want to be there. I understand it was new year day but given they had signed up for it

One hour late taking off. Concerning, very hard landing. Uncomfortable seats with no recline. Extremely slow baggage claim. Very professional, knowledgeable flight attendants. Brand new, very clean plane.

Can’t say there was anything I particularly liked. Seats were very tight, leather wrapped plastic. I followed up a much longer and cheaper trip from Honolulu on southwest, everything was phenomenal, this flight was the exact opposite. Blows my mind they charge for water of all things. One of the attendants seemed very rude, I watched a taller gentleman a couple rows forward with his knees pressed into the back of the seat ahead, while the woman in that seat leaned forward the entire flight, I’m sure because she could feel his knees. I’ll be avoiding spirit like the plague from here forward.

Enjoyed the experience, on time flights, friendly staff the WiFi was intros d kept cutting out.

Awful experience. Both flights were delayed several times with weather but also crew members being the official cause. The vouchers are unusable and insufficient ($50 voucher to fly the same crappy airline is a joke for putting me on a red-eye that landed at 3:00 am). The aircrafts were old and uncomfortable (have a real pocket on the seat, for crying out loud!).

I was penalized for a mistake made by your team

I was charged $99 for a carryon on the 4th out of 4 flights only. It was placed under the seat just like the other times. Ridiculous.

Was 2 hours early for my flight they canceled my flight 2 hours before flight took off then told me to get a flight 24 hours later I had to pay $297 for I missed it. I had flight insurance and bc they put I missed my flight I had to wait 2 days to book a new flight. Flight insurance through spirit isn’t worth anything because I ended up paying for my hotel and flight and insurance didn’t cover anything!!

I MISS MY FLY AND THEY NOT EVEN TRY TO GET ME ALEAST A CREDIT TO BUY ANOTHER TICKET BUT IS FINE I WOULD NEVER BUY A TICKET WITH SPIRIT EVER AGAIN

Good enough for the price. I will rate great if water is available for passenger.

The whole expierience was one to forget. From the $99 carry on fee, to the seats not reclining and not having any headrest adjustment, to the completely disrepectful gate agents to paying an arm and a leg for snacks on the plane. The whole expierience was something that I will never put myself through again. I will never be flying spirit again. Even if I have to wait another day just to catch another airline flight that is what I will do. Completely unacceptable.

Top questions about LAX car service

Wait times depend on demand in the area, traffic conditions, the type of ride you request, and other factors. We recommend searching for a ride in the Uber app or on Uber’s website to see estimated pickup times. To best reduce waiting, you can use Uber Reserve to schedule a ride and match with a driver in advance.

We recommend getting to the airport 3 hours early for international travel. You can reserve a ride ahead of time to help reduce wait times and even save your airline trip to your Uber account to take the guesswork out of scheduling airport dropoff and pickup.

Yes. With Uber Reserve , you can schedule a dropoff and pickup up to 90 days in advance.

The grace period for you to meet your driver depends on the ride option you choose. For UberX, Uber Comfort, and UberXL, you can avoid wait time fees by meeting your driver within 2 minutes of their arrival. For Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, Uber Premier, and Uber Premier SUV, you will have 5 minutes to get to the vehicle. You will be assessed per-minute wait time fees beyond that. Riders with a disability can request a wait time fee waiver. Get more information here.

If you’re unfamiliar with the layout of the airport or where the rideshare pickup point is, we recommend requesting a ride when you’re closer to exiting the departures gate.

With Uber Reserve, your driver will wait up to 45-60 minutes after your flight’s estimated arrival time, depending on the ride option (45 minutes for UberX, Uber Comfort, and UberXL; 60 minutes for Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, Uber Premier, and Uber Premier SUV). In most cases, this should be enough time to get to the rideshare pickup point.

The luggage capacity varies by Uber ride type. For example, an UberX ride can usually hold 2 suitcases while an UberXL ride can usually hold 3 suitcases.*

The availability of ride options will vary by time of day, region, and airport guidelines. The best way to get an accurate list is by searching for a ride in the Uber app.

All drivers using the Uber app get background checks, and their vehicles undergo inspection. In addition, drivers and their vehicles must adhere to city and airport-specific airport operating procedures and regulatory guidelines. If you have any safety concerns, please visit our safety page .

By law, small children are required to be in a car seat. Get more information about our safety policies .

Service animals are allowed, and Uber app drivers may not refuse a trip because of the presence of one. For pets, however, it’s recommended that you select Uber Pet when choosing your ride option. Otherwise, it is up to the discretion of the driver; once a driver is assigned, you can message them in the app to make sure. Get more information on animal-related policies .

An emergency slide fell off a Delta plane while it was in the air Friday morning — forcing the Los Angeles-bound flight to return to JFK Airport, sources told The Post.

The freak accident set off an emergency alarm around 8:30 a.m. aboard Flight 520, which had departed the Queens airport an hour earlier, sources said.

The crew — who had reported a vibration, according to the FAA — had no choice but to return to JFK, on runway 22L, according to the sources.

Cops were still searching for the missing chute early Friday afternoon and sources said it’s believed it could be in Jamaica Bay.

There were no injuries reported.

The plane is a Boeing 767, which wound up departing JFK for Los Angeles International Airport just before 11 a.m., according to FlightAware.

A Port Authority spokeswoman said there is “an ongoing investigation into what took place.”

The airline did not immediately respond to a request for information.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Woman unleashes wild nsfw rant at lax workers, but wrong terminal, unruly passenger unleashes nfsw tirade at lax ... barked at wrong terminal.

LAX airline workers got an unexpected earful from a woman who went on a vicious tirade ... only for her to realize she was screaming at the wrong terminal the entire time.

Check out this video TMZ shot Wednesday at Los Angeles's premiere airport ... where this lady had an absolutely epic meltdown that was laced with expletives and demands to get Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on the horn. Yep, it was one of those days.

The woman was fuming after Delta apparently rebooked her flight for the next day because she missed her initial one ... and she was unloading on these employees about it.

Safe to say, her behavior here is beyond belief -- going on a full-blown expletive-laden rampage, demanding Delta "get her the f*** on the next flight" and foot the bill too!

When it comes to Mayor Pete, she seems aware he's in charge of planes and stuff in Biden's administration, branding him a "useless motherf***er." Like we said, this was ugly.

This woman's so fired up, she actually punches the counter in protest ... all while the airline workers stand there dumbfounded, clearly trying to figure out why the lady's so pissed with them. BTW, as we monitored this whole thing, we heard her say she'd been drinking earlier.

Anyway, this woman's chaotic freakout came to a hilarious screeching halt when she realized she was actually at the WestJet terminal at LAX, not at Delta ... the airline she had a beef with.

Just like that, she goes from a raging bull to a giggling schoolgirl in seconds ... laughing off her colossal mistake and cracking jokes like it's no big deal.

Pacing back and forth in disbelief, she's suddenly the life of the party ... even teasing us about being her chauffeurs to the correct terminal. Sounds like the WestJet workers got a kick out of the mix-up too ... despite being on the receiving end of her venom moments earlier.

Goes without saying, airport meltdowns are already cringe-worthy ... but if you're gonna go there, at least make sure you're raging at the right target! Lesson learned ... hopefully. 😅
