April to October is the peak season. When planning your trip to the Longreach Region, please be mindful that bookings are essential for all museums, tours and accommodation.
During our off peak season November to March they experience high temperatures and low visitor numbers, some of the attractions, tours cease to run, contact the Explore Centre to enquire about attractions and tours that are open.
From aviation and outback pioneers to prehistoric crocodiles the thriving Longreach region in the heart of Queensland has something for every traveller.
Soak up a stunning sunset on the Thomson River, or trace Major Mitchell’s footsteps along the Outer Barcoo. Longreach Tourist Park has more than 300 powered sites and slews of cabins, with ample room for large group camping adventures. In fact, if you call well enough in advance, the friendly staff will annexe a private camping area for your convoy or sporting group.
Longreach Tourist Park also welcomes pets on caravan sites and can put you in touch with doggie day care operators if you wish head out and explore.
