Today’s English expression is to move on. This means, to start doing something new and to leave something else behind in the process.

The classic way to use this expression is after a breakup. After a breakup, both partners may need to take some time to work through their emotions, think about the past, and think about the future. Some may hold out hope that they get back together. But eventually, both sides need to move on. Both sides need to do something new and leave the old relationship in the past.

In today’s lesson, you heard about the parenting trend of “birdnesting,” where two divorced parents share the family home and a separate residence. The kids stay in the main home, while the parents shuttle between the two homes. This has certain advantages. But it can make it hard for each parent to move on because they’re still sharing not just one but two homes with their former spouse.

It can make it hard for the parents to do something new. Why would this make it hard for the divorced parents to move on? Well, a few things. For one, neither side has space that’s truly their own. For another, they have to continue to share household duties with the former spouse. And finally, this would be a less-than-ideal situation if one or both parents started to see someone else.

So there are advantages to this in the short run, especially for the kids, but “birdnesting” can make it hard for the parents to move on.

Another way to use “move on” is to talk about leaving a job or a career. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found that quitting a job is hard. I tend to stay at jobs for a long time, but when I do leave, I get this sick feeling in my stomach when I have to tell my boss. One nice or polite way to saying you’re leaving a job is to say that you’re “moving on.” That just sounds a little nicer than, “I’m quitting,” or “I’m leaving,” or “I’m resigning.” None of those words really sounds great to me.

“I’ve decided to move on,” is a softer, more polite way of saying the same thing. If you’re talking to your friends, you might say something like, “I really need to move on from this job.”

If you decide to leave a city, you can say you were ready for a change and you wanted to move on. I lived in New York for three years and I’m really glad I did. But after three years, I was ready to move on. I was ready to leave New York behind and do something else. I don’t mean any offense, but I was ready for something else. So I decided to move on.

Here’s another way to use it. Have you ever been in a meeting where there’s one topic taking up way too much time? Maybe there are two sides that disagree, or maybe the discussion is just going nowhere. If you’re in charge of the meeting, you can say, “We need to move on from this topic.” That means, you need to leave that topic behind and move on to other topics.

Quote of the Week

It’s time for us to move on to the Quote of the Week. This is technically not an English quote; it’s translated from French. Here it goes: “In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” That’s from the French writer Albert Camus. I just read that quote in a book today. Here it is once more, from Albert Camus: “In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”

See you next time!

It’s sometimes hard for me to pick out a topic for the video lesson. The videos are less about explaining a phrase and they’re more about how to enliven your speech a little bit, how to help you use the words you already know to express your best ideas. And for today’s lesson, I’m going to choose “half and half.” This is a way to say that two people divide something evenly.

That sounds confusing; it’s hard to explain in the audio lesson. That’s why we make it a video! And in the video, I’m going to show you: what are the situations in which you can use this, and how do you form it? We’re going to go step-by-step, nice and slow so you can see right there on the screen how to use it. And then as always, you’ll have the chance to write your own sentences using “half and half.”

James and Jennifer Crumbley, a school shooter's parents, are sentenced to 10-15 years

(From left) James Crumbley, his attorney Mariell Lehman, Jennifer Crumbley and her attorney Shannon Smith sit in court in Pontiac, Mich., for Tuesday's sentencing on four counts of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of four Oxford High School students who were shot and killed by the Crumbleys' son.

James and Jennifer Crumbley, whose son murdered four classmates and shot seven other people at Oxford High School in 2021, were each sentenced Tuesday in a Pontiac, Mich. courtroom to between 10 and 15 years in prison.

Both Crumbleys were found guilty in separate trials on four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Each of those charges carried a maximum penalty of 15 years, and the sentences are to be served concurrently.

In court, the Crumbleys looked visibly shaken, breathing heavily as they read from prepared statements prior to learning their fate.

James Crumbley spoke directly to the parents of the students his son had murdered. Several family members attended the sentencing.

"I am sorry for your loss as a result of what my son did," he said. "I cannot express how much I wish that I had known what was going on with him or what was going to happen. Because I absolutely would have done a lot of things differently."

In her statement, Jennifer Crumbley said she, her husband and her son, Ethan, were an average family.

"We weren't perfect but we loved our son and each other tremendously," Crumbley said. "This could be any parent up here in my shoes. Ethan could be your child, could be your grandchild, your niece, your nephew, your brother, your sister. Your child could make the fatal decision not just with a gun but a knife, a vehicle, intentionally or unintentionally."

The teenagers who lost their lives during the shooting rampage were Justin Shilling and Madisyn Baldwin, both 17, Tate Myre, 16, and 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana. Six other students and a teacher were injured.

When it was time for their families to speak, several members described how the murders still haunted them.

Nicole Beausoleil, whose daughter Madisyn Baldwin was shot at point blank range, told the Crumbleys buying their son a gun when he was already spiraling into despair made them just as responsible as the shooter.

"Not only did your son kill my daughter but you both did as well. The words 'involuntary' should not be a part of your offense. Everything you did that day, months prior and days after were voluntary acts (helping) your son to commit a murder. Not just one, but multiple," Beausoleil said.

A rare prosecution

The Crumbleys are believed to be the first parents of a mass school shooter to have been charged and convicted of such crimes. Many legal experts say it could set a precedent for charging parents with serious crimes because of actions taken by their child.

Their son, Ethan Crumbley, pleaded guilty to murder and previously was sentenced to life without parole for the school shooting he carried out when he was 15.

Prosecutors never claimed the parents knew about their son's plans to go on a killing spree at Michigan's Oxford High School. However, they argued the Crumbleys ignored signs their son was seriously troubled and bought him a powerful Sig Sauer 9mm handgun as an early Christmas present.

They never told counselors about the gun they gifted their child when they were called to a meeting at the school the day of the shooting, not even when they were shown drawings the teen made. The images featured a pistol resembling the Sig Sauer alongside a figure with bullet wounds and phrases like "blood everywhere" and "help me, the thoughts won't stop."

Instead, the Crumbleys left their son at school and returned to work. A few hours later, Ethan emerged from a school bathroom with the gun and began firing his first of 32 shots.

Prosecutors told the jury if the Crumbleys had taken a "tragically few steps," four Oxford students would likely still be alive.

They showed evidence that the murder weapon was never properly secured away from their troubled son.

In court, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald used the murder weapon to demonstrate how to use a cable lock to keep the gun from being fired.

The process took about 10 seconds.

A 'chilling' lack of remorse

The prosecution had asked for the Crumbleys to serve 10 to 15 years in prison, citing what they called a "chilling lack of remorse" on the part of both parents after the shooting.

Prosecutors noted that Jennifer Crumbley testified during her trial that "I've asked myself if I would've done anything differently. And I wouldn't have."

And they pointed to repeated profanity-laced threats James Crumbley made against Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald on jailhouse phone calls he knew were being recorded, as well as in an electronic message.

'Mistakes any parent could make'

James Crumbley's attorney countered that his client had not physically threatened the prosecutor, he merely "vented" his anger over what he saw as an unjust incarceration.

The Crumbleys said they, too, were victims of their son, who they claimed had "manipulated" them into the purchase of a gun they had no idea he would use to kill.

They argued they made "mistakes any parent could make," given the information they had.

Defense attorneys for the couple noted an Oxford High counselor determined Ethan could remain in school the day of the shooting because he did not seem to pose a danger to himself or anyone else.

The couple maintained they thought their son was a normal teenager simply depressed over the loss of his grandmother, a pet dog and a friend who had moved away.

In a pre-sentencing interview with state officials, Jennifer Crumbley said that with the benefit of hindsight, "There are so many things I would change if I could go back in time."

Defense claims extra prison time unnecessary

The Crumbleys had asked to be sentenced to time served.

Defense attorneys argued the parents had already spent more than two and a half years in prison locked in a cell for 23 hours a day, and that further prison time was not necessary because the Crumbleys were not a threat to the public.

Defense attorney Shannon Smith also said more time would not deter others from committing a similar offense because "there is no person who would want the events of Nov. 30, 2021, to repeat themselves."

Smith added that, far from being the uncaring, remorseless mother prosecutors had portrayed to the public and the media, Jennifer Crumbley was focused on her son and distraught over the devastation her son caused.

In a sentencing memo, Jennifer Crumbley's parents and others pleaded with the court for leniency. A young woman, who said she was 18 when she became Crumbley's cellmate for a year and a half, also wrote to the judge.

She said Crumbley had greeted her with a basket of snacks and served as a mother figure to her.

The woman also wrote that inmates screamed threats at Crumbley, who tearfully told them she was sorry and "wished she could change everything her son had done."

Though Judge Cheryl Matthews sentenced the Crumbleys to the stiffest penalty possible, she said that the sentences were not designed to send a message to other parents or prosecutors that they should hold families responsible for children's crimes.

"These convictions are not about poor parenting. These convictions confirm repeated acts, or lack of acts, that could have halted an oncoming runaway train. About repeatedly ignoring things that would make a reasonable person feel the hair on the back of their neck stand up," Matthews said.

Moments after they were sentenced, the Crumbleys began filling out paperwork in the courtroom for an appeal.

Their son, Ethan, who pleaded guilty in October 2022 to murder and terrorism charges, is also likely to appeal his sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

After emotional trip, Coyotes head home for possible farewell in Arizona

CALGARY, CANADA - APRIL 14: Lawson Crouse #67 of the Arizona Coyotes skates the puck during the first period against the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome on April 14, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (Photo by Leah Hennel/Getty Images)

CALGARY — How do you prepare your team for their possible final game in their home city, just days after you’ve learned it could be the end?

“How about I digest that one?” Arizona Coyotes head coach Andre Tourigny said when asked. “We’ll figure that out. It’ll be a day off tomorrow, well-earned after that long trip and all the emotion.”

Tourigny and the Coyotes had just finished their penultimate game of the season, a 6-5 loss to the Calgary Flames on a mid-April Sunday evening. Neither team was vying for a playoff spot. Instead, that game could be marked as the beginning of the franchise’s final week in Arizona.

It was revealed  Wednesday that the NHL is preparing for the Coyotes’ potential relocation to Salt Lake City before the 2024-25 NHL season. By Friday, Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong told his players that relocation was possible and that players might soon visit their new home city. Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo released a statement Saturday afternoon saying the team was focused on a “myriad of issues that are unresolved” and couldn’t comment publicly on the team’s future.

“However, you have my commitment that I am going to speak on all of these issues and publicly address all of your concerns as promptly as possible,” Meruelo added.

The Coyotes spent the past week playing out a five-game road trip along the West Coast and through Alberta, unsure of their franchise’s fate beyond next season while trying to finish their season strong. They completed the trip with a 3-2 record, including overtime victories over the playoff-bound Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers .

“I think our guys showed a lot of character in the last week,” Tourigny said.

Tourigny, however, declined to answer when asked how he felt the organization handled the situation.

“There’s lots of stuff going around the league with every team,” Coyotes forward Alex Kerfoot said. “There’s always distractions. There’s always stuff that’s going on in people’s minds. So, this is no different. We’ve played 80 games together. This one was no different. Just got to keep it professional out there, go about your business and try to win hockey games.”

Before Armstrong met with players on Friday, two other Coyotes players — Lawson Crouse and Clayton Keller — addressed the media about their team’s situation before playing the Edmonton Oilers later that night.

“We saw it everywhere just like everyone,” Crouse said. “We don’t know anything more than what everyone else is seeing.”

“We’ve just tried to focus on hockey,” Keller said. “Since I’ve played in Arizona, there’s always been a lot of rumors and stuff like that. So, I think, we’ll try to do as best as we can to focus on hockey.

“Throughout this whole time, there hasn’t been a ton of discussion on what’s going on, I guess. We’ve just kind of taken it day by day, heard different things here and there and none of them are really true. So, we just kind of learn from that and take it day by day.”

The Coyotes have spent the last several years in the news for business reasons, primarily arena and ownership concerns. Following the 2021-22 season, the Coyotes were kicked out of their previous home, Gila River Arena, by the city of Glendale. The move came after failed discussions over lease extensions amid multiple notices concerning outstanding balances under their previous lease agreement. The Coyotes have since made their home at Mullett Arena, a sub-5,000-seat venue on the Arizona State University campus.

“It’s not an NHL rink,” Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson said. “That’s how I’m going to put it. Probably good for college. But for the NHL, it’s not an NHL rink.”

While Coyotes ownership is bidding on a 110-acre plot of land in North Phoenix to build their new home, Mullett Arena was expected to remain their home through the 2024-25 campaign. If relocation plans are finalized as expected, those plans will be moot.

On Sunday morning following his team’s morning skate, Andersson expressed sympathy for Coyotes players and their complicated situation.

“I’m thinking about the players that have been there a long time,” Andersson said. “(Clayton) Keller and (Nick) Schmaltz and those kinds of guys. Been there a long time, probably bought a house in Arizona and lived there for the most part of their adult life. And then you read that you might be moving without knowing too much. It could be tricky. So, you know, you feel for the guys.”

“For them, it’s got to be kind of weird not knowing much about their future leading into next year,” Flames forward Connor Zary said. “But I think they’re the same as us, right? They’re just hockey players and they’re normal guys. I’m sure they’re just trying to finish out the season hard, look forward to their summer and hopefully get their stuff sorted out.”

The Coyotes’ final game of the season, possibly their last ever in Arizona, will be a Wednesday night home matchup against Edmonton.

GM is moving its downtown Detroit headquarters with help from the Rocket Mortgage founder

Mary Barra

General Motors General Motors plans to move its iconic Detroit headquarters to a new downtown office tower and redevelop its home office site, a person briefed on the plans said.

The company has scheduled a news conference Monday afternoon with the Bedrock real estate firm to announce the plans, the person said.

In addition, Bedrock, which owns multiple office buildings downtown, will join GM in studying redevelopment of the seven-building Renaissance Center now owned by GM, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the plans have not been formally announced.

GM CEO Mary Barra and and Bedrock Chairman Dan Gilbert will attend the news conference at the site of a new tower Bedrock is building on the site of the old Hudson’s department store in the heart of downtown.

The person said that GM’s main office would move to the Hudson’s tower.

The plan does not involve GM selling the RenCen, as the tower complex is known locally. The complex is the centerpiece of Detroit’s skyline and often appears on sports television broadcasts.

GM bought the tower complex in 1996 and later moved its headquarters there from a site north of downtown. It has housed the company ever since, so the move would mean the end of an era at the site.

Gilbert’s Bedrock has been buying up properties downtown for many years and has led its rebirth. He also runs loan company Rocket Mortgage .

In a 2022 interview, Barra told The Associated Press that GM will keep its main office in the RenCen complex just across the Detroit River from Canada.

But she qualified her statements, saying she can’t predict what might happen in five, 10 or 15 years. Since then, about 5,000 white-collar workers at GM took early retirement buyouts, and may workers are still on a hybrid office-home work schedule, so GM needs less office space.

“Our headquarters will always be in Detroit, in the RenCen,” she said, using the name given to the complex by locals. “Right now the plan is for it to be at the Renaissance Center. That’s our home,” she said.

The company takes up about 1 1/2 of the RenCen’s towers, which have seen little pedestrian traffic for years. Much of GM’s work force, including product development and engineering, is north of the city at an updated 1950s technical center in suburban Warren. After GM’s 2009 bankruptcy, the company considered moving the headquarters there.

“As we move to having more of a hybrid work structure, we have to look at what’s the right space,” Barra said.

She also hinted in the interview that GM would explore riverfront development opportunities with the city.

The Renaissance Center was built by Henry Ford II, who formed a coalition in the 1970s in an effort to reinvigorate Detroit’s downtown.

Bedrock announced last week that the final structural steel beam had been put in place on the Hudson’s tower, which is expected to have 1.5 million square feet of retail, office, dining, hospitality and residential space. The new tower is about a mile north of GM’s current headquarters.

How did it happen? Kentucky's Calipari is the new Arkansas coach

John Calipari is finalizing a five-year deal to leave Kentucky and become the next men's basketball coach at Arkansas. (1:09)

Nothing like a stunning news drop on the eve of the national championship game.

John Calipari is leaving Kentucky and headed across the SEC to Arkansas , finalizing a five-year deal to replace Eric Musselman in Fayetteville.

Nobody could have foreseen this chain of events when SMU fired Rob Lanier after just two seasons, leading to the Mustangs poaching Andy Enfield from USC and Musselman departing Arkansas for the Trojans' vacancy. Arkansas took a couple of early swings at Ole Miss ' Chris Beard and Kansas State 's Jerome Tang, but both coaches turned down the Razorbacks and returned to their respective schools.

So, Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek reassessed the search and came out with a new name atop his target list: Calipari.

ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Myron Medcalf react to the new move, including what it means for the conference and the schools -- and who could succeed Coach Cal in Lexington.

How did we get to this point? What compelled Calipari to leave Kentucky?

Myron Medcalf: After a series of disappointing outcomes (9-16 in 2020-21; the 2022 NCAA tournament loss to Saint Peter's ; last month's first-round loss to Oakland ), Calipari no longer had full control in Lexington. Rather than give Kentucky's brass another year to decide if they wanted to keep him, Calipari did what some coaches do in this scenario: He left.

The joy of coaching at Kentucky is enjoying the admiration, popularity and influence one gains from a massive fan base and basketball brand. But Calipari lost that support in recent years. It had felt like Calipari and Kentucky had been living under the same roof but were no longer together. Calipari just made it official Sunday night.

Jeff Borzello: Once a coach gets to the point where his athletic director needs to release a statement confirming his return as coach, it's hard to regain the trust of the fan base. And Calipari reached that point. The NCAA tournament losses, one Big Dance win since 2019, refusing to embrace the transfer portal and continuing to build freshmen-focused rosters -- it all added up to a frustrated fan base. And so when another school with huge resources and a passionate fan base showed interest, Calipari jumped. Better to leave than live on the hot seat.

Sean Farnham reacts to the news of John Calipari leaving Kentucky to become the head coach at Arkansas.

What is most attractive about the Arkansas job?

Medcalf: Football is Arkansas' first love, and it last won a basketball national title in 1994. It has an extremely passionate fan base, but nothing rivals Kentucky's Big Blue Nation. Calipari won't face the same pressure he endured in Lexington, but he will have access to power boosters (the Tyson family, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the Walton family) who will supply enough NIL money to help him attract elite talent.

Borzello: Arkansas has plenty of resources and is increasing its NIL budget to bring Calipari into the fold. The fan base is there too. When Bud Walton Arena is rocking, it's one of the best home-court advantages in the SEC. And Arkansas has a stranglehold on keeping in-state talent home for school; there was a stretch from 2016 to 2022 when zero ESPN 100 prospects left the state of Arkansas for college.

What are the chances Calipari will enjoy the type of success he had at Kentucky now that he's at Arkansas?

Medcalf: In five seasons, Eric Musselman had a better postseason run (two Elite Eight appearances and a trip to the Sweet 16) than Calipari did at Kentucky over the same stretch. Calipari has always been a top recruiter; that won't change at Arkansas. He might not get four or five McDonald's All Americans every year the way he did at Kentucky, but Calipari will sign great talent.

Borzello: Calipari can win a national championship at Arkansas. Everything is in place to consistently compete at the top of the SEC and push for Final Four berths. Musselman didn't quite have the regular-season success to match, but he had the Razorbacks within a game of the Final Four in back-to-back years. The key for Calipari is whether he will change his outlook on roster construction. He'll be able to recruit at a high level in Fayetteville, but Calipari can't continue to build with only one or two transfers. There has to be a mix of high schoolers and veterans, and he'll have the NIL budget to build a roster in that way.

Is the move good or bad for Kentucky?

Medcalf: That's a complicated question. Calipari had the flair (and hint of arrogance), personality and experience to handle the demands of a rabid fan base that craved the success he had brought in his first six seasons -- including a national title. It's a unique role, one only Rick Pitino and Calipari have excelled in over the past 30 years. There is no clear successor who can continue to attract five-star recruits and future NBA stars. The new coach also will have to endure the expectations of a fan base that hasn't witnessed a national title run since 2012 but still expects to compete for a championship every season.

Borzello: It's going to be hard to answer this right now. While Calipari's buyout was the biggest impediment to firing the Hall of Fame coach, the lack of a natural replacement was second on the list. Most of the logical successors either have huge buyouts or won't make the move. If Kentucky has to dip down into its second- or third-tier candidate pool, it might not be a great move for the Wildcats.

How will the move affect the SEC?

Medcalf: It depends in part on the dominoes. Will Kentucky target Alabama's Nate Oats? Or will the Wildcats chase former Villanova coach Jay Wright or UConn's Dan Hurley? Either way, Kentucky won't settle for a subpar candidate. On the flip side, Arkansas, which hasn't won the SEC since 2000, is certainly in a new tier with this hiring. Overall, a league that will soon add Oklahoma and Texas probably will improve.

Borzello: It's landscape-shifting. As Myron mentioned, the dominoes falling will have an impact. But this isn't just about Kentucky and what it does from here. This immediately vaults Arkansas into the upper crust of the national conversation -- and therefore the SEC conversation. The Razorbacks suddenly have title-contending expectations every season. Kentucky will always have those, but the Wildcats might not be the biggest story in the league during the 2024-25 season.

What's next for Kentucky? Who should Kentucky target for its opening?

Medcalf: Again, there are no simple answers here. But Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart should pull up to Monday's national title game and ask Hurley for the amount of money it would take to lure him to Lexington -- even though Hurley is happy in Storrs, Connecticut. Oats would make sense, but he has an $18 million buyout. Wright doesn't seem too interested in leaving TV to return to coaching. If those options all fall through, Kentucky won't have an obvious target. That said, the Wildcats don't owe Calipari his $33 million buyout because he left, so they have the financial backing to go shopping.

Borzello: There are huge obstacles to hire most of the names who would theoretically be the top targets. I don't think Hurley would go from UConn to Kentucky, especially if he wins another national title on Monday night. Does the Chicago Bulls' Billy Donovan really want to coach in college again? Does Wright want to coach at all again? Oats has a huge buyout. Iowa State's T.J. Otzelberger has a huge buyout. Arizona's Tommy Lloyd just signed a new contract. Auburn's Bruce Pearl has had similar NCAA tournament struggles in recent years. Baylor's Scott Drew is probably the most realistic target, and he just turned down Louisville . Whether Kentucky can hire -- or at least try to hire -- Drew will likely be determined by the buyout in Drew's new deal.

This Is the No. 1 U.S. City People Want to Move to in 2024 — and It Has the Largest Retirement Community in the World

Hint: it's in the Sunshine State.

Americans are on the move. Over eight million people relocated to a different state in 2022, according to estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau . And a new report by relocation company MoveBuddha sheds more light on where Americans are headed in 2024. Based on customer search data, the company identified the most desirable destinations with the highest migration rates, and a city in the Sunshine State topped the list.

The Villages in Central Florida, known as the largest retirement community in the world, had the highest in-to-out ratio, 4.38, meaning that for every one hundred people who leave the city, another 438 move in.

“The Villages is a racehorse that’s outpacing every other city in the country for growth. Fueled by a ‘silver tsunami,’ this Baby Boomtown has been on the rise for a decade and shows no signs of slowing down in 2024. With baby boomers reaching retirement age through 2031, the Florida destination is poised for even more growth in years to come,” the report stated, noting that the community offers a mix of good weather and activities.

MoveBuddha’s analysis also shows that while housing costs are a consideration, Americans are willing to relocate to a destination where real estate prices are not necessarily the lowest. In The Villages, for example, the median home value is $407,528, which is more than the nation’s average of $347,716.

Another destination popular with senior adults that made it to the top three is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where over a fifth of the population is aged 65 and over. The oceanfront community ranked third with an in-to-out ratio of 3.22.

However, MoveBuddha noted that cities with bustling art scenes located in natural settings draw the most interest overall. Asheville, North Carolina, for example, which takes the No. 2 spot with an in-to-out ratio of 3.29, is one of them. Similarly, Billings, Montana; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Boulder, Colorado; and Burlington, Vermont; are in the top 10 most desirable places to move to in 2024.

But if you are looking for affordability, the report also points out that five of the 25 winning cities have median home values of under $200,000, and those are Dayton, Ohio; Hartford, Connecticut; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Des Moines, Iowa; and Champaign, Illinois.

Another significant outtake from the report is that Americans are no longer leaving urban areas — a trend that started during the COVID-19 pandemic. People favor mid-size cities of about 200,000 residents, with Boston being the most populous of all on the list.
