Everything you need to know about Costco Travel — and why I love it for saving money

Madison Blancaflor

Costco isn't just the place where you can buy toilet paper in bulk, inexpensive gas, cheap hot dogs and gift cards. You can also book great trips via the company's online travel agency, Costco Travel.

I know, I know: At TPG, we're often staunchly against booking travel through third-party sites , as there can be tradeoffs versus booking directly. But in recent years, I've become a big fan of the travel deals I can find via Costco Travel.

When planning our annual beach trip back in 2022, my best friend found a few options for Mexican all-inclusive resorts on Costco Travel and shared the links with me. I promptly told her we'd probably be better off booking directly and brushed off the idea of booking through Costco — neither of us even had a membership at the time.

However, comparing the prices and benefits at a few of the resorts proved my initial reaction wrong.

I actually got a Costco membership to book the deal since the cost of the membership was less than what we'd save by booking through Costco. We saved around $300 on a three-night stay at TRS Coral near Cancun (one of TPG's best all-inclusive resorts in Cancun ), not including the free hydrotherapy spa circuit and the $241 Digital Costco Shop Card included in the package.

Our stay was fantastic, and I officially became a Costco Travel convert.

If you're curious about how to use Costco Travel to find deals, here's everything you need to know about Costco Travel — and why I love it for saving money on travel.

What is Costco Travel?

number for costco travel

All Costco members have access to the Costco Travel booking platform, where you can find and book a wide range of travel — from vacation packages to hotels, cruises and rental cars. You can even book theme park vacation packages to Disney and Universal or specialty vacations such as an African safari.

Once you log in to Costco Travel, you can search for specific dates or destinations or browse through available deals and featured destinations. I personally love perusing the limited-time deals when I know I want to plan a getaway but don't have a specific destination in mind.

Trips booked through Costco Travel are often discounted and/or include perks and benefits you may not get by booking directly or through other booking portals. Usually, a trip booked through Costco Travel will also include a Digital Costco Shop Card (essentially a type of Costco gift card) of varying value.

What travel can you book through Costco Travel?

You can book hotels, cruises, rental cars and vacation packages through Costco Travel. Vacation packages range from hotel-only offers to all-encompassing packages that include airfare, hotel stays and rental cars. You can even build your own package.

number for costco travel

However, one thing to note is that you can't book stand-alone flights via Costco Travel. There is an option to book flights through some vacation packages, but if you're only looking for airfare, you'll want to head to Google Flights to check out your options and book.

You can book Costco Travel offers both online and by phone.

Do you have to be a Costco member to use Costco Travel?

Yes. Costco Travel is an exclusive service for Costco members.

There are two personal membership levels: Gold Star and Executive. Gold Star costs $60 per year, while an Executive membership costs $120. The basic membership will give you access to all of Costco's services, including Costco Travel, while the Executive membership also comes with a 2% reward on all Costco (and Costco Travel) purchases.

I've found that the Costco Travel deals alone are worth paying the $60 Gold Star annual membership fee, even though I don't regularly use Costco for my grocery store runs.

Check sites like Groupon for discount Costco memberships, as you can sometimes save on that rate — or get an included gift card that helps offset the cost.

Is Costo Travel worth it?

Costco Travel has its pros and cons, but there are definitely times when it's worth it.

For example, let's look at a five-night stay in Maui in early April. At the time of writing, Costco is currently offering a hotel and rental car package for Hotel Wailea, a Relais & Chateaux affiliated property and one of TPG's favorite Maui hotels .

Here's one cost comparison breakdown of Costco Travel's deal versus booking directly:

number for costco travel

Even without including the additional benefits, you're already saving more than $400 via the Costco deal. Add in the value you get from the card, daily breakfast and resort credit (which is more than $1,000 in value if you maximize all benefits), and you're looking at $1,442.45 in savings by booking through Costco Travel versus directly.

And since Hotel Wailea isn't a member of any major hotel loyalty program, booking through Costco Travel wouldn't mean missing out on elite night credits or other loyalty program benefits.

Here's another example — this time for a Universal Orlando theme park trip from June 4-6 for one adult and two children from Houston. The total cost when booking each part (hotel, tickets and airfare) individually came to $2,701.35, while booking it as a package via Costco saved just over $300.

That's a fair amount of savings you could use for some frozen butterbeer or even a new wand inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter .

When is Costco Travel not worth it?

Not every offer on Costco is worth booking.

For one, you won't necessarily find the same availability on Costco Travel. For example, flights booked through Costco may have some seats blocked off, and certain dates for hotel stays may be unavailable. Additionally, not all rental car companies are bookable through Costco Travel (such as Hertz*, which is my preferred rental car company due to the perks I get through my Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card ).

Plus, some hotel stays have a minimum stay requirement. If you're on the hunt for a long weekend getaway, you may not be able to take advantage of some Costco Travel deals.

number for costco travel

Even when you do find availability, you should always price-check what you can find by booking directly or through your credit card travel portal and hotel programs.

After booking our fantastic stay at TRS Coral just north of Cancun through Costco, I looked at booking through Costco again in 2023 when planning our annual beach vacation.

While Costco had a deal available for the same resort, we happened to be booking when the resort chain was having a Mother's Day sale for anyone booking directly. We were able to try out a new TRS resort closer to Playa Del Carmen, TRS Yucatan; we saved more than $100 on an even nicer suite than Costco Travel offered by booking directly (even when considering the Digital Shop Card we would have gotten by booking with Costco).

Something else to consider when booking hotels through Costco Travel is loyalty program rewards and elite status. There are a lot of hotels available to book through Costco Travel that are part of major loyalty programs, from Hyatt Honors to Marriott Bonvoy to IHG One Rewards and more. But booking through Costco Travel — just like booking through most other third-party services such as Expedia — means you likely won't earn loyalty rewards, elite night credits or have any elite night benefits honored.

You'll also have to use Costco customer service if you run into any issues rather than going directly to the brand. This is especially important when considering booking a vacation package that includes flights, given the higher potential for delays or cancellations.

Why I love Costco Travel

I am typically a staunch proponent of booking directly, but Costco Travel is an exception. I've found that the benefits I can get by booking some trips via Costco outweigh the cons (some of which include having to go through Costco for any customer service help or occasionally losing out on elite night credits).

Digital Costco Shop Cards

My favorite thing about booking trips through Costco Travel is the Digital Costco Shop Card I get after booking. The card's value varies from trip to trip (generally depending on how expensive the package you book), but you can get hundreds of dollars back to use at Costco.

The Digital Costco Shop Cards can be used for Costco warehouse purchases (a game changer with grocery prices so high due to inflation), but you can also use them toward future Costco Travel bookings. And remember — Costco doesn't just carry bulk grocery items. You could use a Digital Costco Shop Card to buy a new flat-screen TV for movie nights and game days, a new outdoor patio setup ahead of summer or even Costco Pharmacy prescriptions.

I admittedly don't use Costco for groceries often (buying in bulk doesn't make a lot of sense for someone who lives alone), but I have used shop cards to help pay for Christmas presents and future Costco Travel trips. I've actually been looking into using my most recent Digital Costco Shop Card on a new pair of AirPods and a new TV mount for my living room.

Deals on non-points hotel stays and all-inclusive resorts

When I'm looking at booking a hotel stay at a brand like Hyatt or Marriott, I generally choose to book directly in order to earn elite night credits and points. However, when looking at properties not part of a major loyalty program, Costco Travel is often a go-to anytime I can find a deal.

Costco Travel has a nice deals section, and I usually look there first if I'm not sold on a specific destination for a getaway. While deals found on Costco generally have a narrow booking window, I've found that many offer a lot of flexibility for the actual trip dates.

A few examples of limited-time deals for January include Hotel Wailea from the example earlier in this guide, all-inclusive resorts in Mexico's Riviera Maya, and Disney and Universal theme park packages.

Simplifying group vacations

I'm often the travel planner in my friend group (which makes sense, considering what I do for a living), but not everyone is an avid points and miles user like myself. For group trips where we're splitting the cost of hotel rooms among multiple people, it often doesn't make sense to use points and miles to book.

Costco Travel vacation packages offer a way for all of us to save money, and it makes narrowing down potential destinations and hotels easier. Rather than everyone having to spend hours researching ideas and prices from across the internet — which might be my idea of a fun Wednesday night but isn't for some of my friends — I typically just send them to Costco Travel to see if any of the featured deals catch their eye.

Having reservation information for multiple aspects of a trip, such as a hotel and rental car package, makes sharing and saving the itineraries a breeze.

Bottom line

Whether or not you currently have a Costco membership, you shouldn't dismiss Costco Travel as just another online travel agency.

If you know where to look and are willing to price-check the deals you find, you can save a lot of money with Costco Travel deals. I've personally had a lot of success booking friends getaways to popular destinations like Mexico through Costco. Using the service has helped me save on other expenses with the Digital Costco Shop Card I've gotten with my bookings.

For me, the $60 annual membership fee to Costco has been more than worth it to utilize Costco Travel.

Costco is known for having great deals, top-notch products, and various items to purchase in one place. As one of the largest membership warehouses, it caters to consumers and businesses alike. However, there is one area that is sometimes overlooked—Costco Travel.

Here are five things you should know about Costco Travel and why you might look at your wholesale retailer membership before booking your next getaway.

1. You Can Book Hotels, Rental Cars, Flights, Cruises, Vacation Packages, And Even Theme Parks Through Costco Travel.

One of the many perks of using Costco Travel is convenience. Travelers can turn to the service to book a variety of ways to travel. This includes the ability to combine travel services and see the prices, including taxes and fees. Members can book the following travel itineraries:

  • Vacation packages, including departure airport, to domestic and international destinations
  • Hotel + flight
  • Flight + hotel + car rental
  • Car rental + hotel
  • Cruises, including domestic and international tours

Unless specifically mentioned, flights are not included in the price of packages. However, flights from most major cities around the United States can be added to vacation and cruise packages. Additionally, not all airlines are part of Costco Travel, so it is good to compare costs if you don’t see an airline you would typically use.

If you want to book a last-minute cruise, look to Costco Travel. There are several cruise line partners, so there are plenty of options for visiting multiple destinations. Travelers can also get a digital shop card for their cruise travel.

Universal and Disney theme parks and specialty travel are also available through Costco Travel. The Costco Travel team can also help you take the ‘ Vacation of a Lifetime .’

2. Costco Travel Offers Specialty Vacation Options.

Specialty travel includes African safaris and guided vacations. Guided vacations cater to different lifestyles, including those looking to connect with locals, those who have a bit more money to spend and are willing to explore a destination with a small group, and even 18-35-year-olds who want to save some money and can travel together.

These options are curated and offer unique perspectives in destinations around the globe. These options plan your journey for you while allowing you to see multiple places, removing the stress of coordinating, researching, and making arrangements for your destination.

3. Kirkland Signature Labeled Vacations Are Available With Exclusives For Costco Members.

Frequent Costco shoppers likely know that products with the ‘Kirkland Signature’ label will be comparable to some of the top products in that department. But many folks may not know there is also Kirkland Signature Travel , which can provide value and quality for Costco members booking vacations and cruises.

Traveling with the Kirkland Signature brand will get you extras, which may include special rates, experiences such as dining or spa exclusives, and shipboard credits ranging from $25 to $100 or more per person. These exclusives vary, so it may be worth shopping around if you are looking for ideas that fit your travel goals.

4. Use Costco Travel To Upgrade Your Rental Vehicle And Save Money On Gas.

Another perk of using Costco Travel is including an extra driver for free when renting a car (only available at select locations). Depending on the rental company, the added driver perk can also be applied outside of the United States.

Additionally, drivers can book their vehicle early to secure their price and pay later when they pick it up. Renting through Costco Travel may also get you an automatic vehicle upgrade. There are also no cancellation fees to worry about.

Plus, Costco generally has lower gas prices, which can save a bit of money if you are near a Costco with gas stations.

5. Benefits Include Travel Insurance, Availability Of Travel Specialists, And Limited Time Deals.

Booking through Costco Travel also comes with travel insurance benefits , which include baggage coverage (including baggage delay), trip cancellation, and emergency benefits. You can also get a quote if you want to shop around for insurance.

Travel specialists are also available to help if you want assistance planning your trip or have any questions. Specialists are also available via phone if there is an emergency or you need to cancel.

Limited-time deals are also available for members. Deals can include resort credits, waived fees, and complimentary daily meals. These deals are available for a variety of destinations as well. Signing up for Costco emails and checking the deals page are recommended to get the most value.

Bonus: You Can Earn Up To 5% Back.

One other perk worth mentioning is the ability for members to earn up to 5% back on their travels. Costco Executive Members earn 2% back on their Costco Travel purchases, along with added perks that come with some of the travel bookings.

Additionally, Executive Members with a Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi can earn 3% back on select travel on top of the 2% back they earn. And since the card is a Visa Card, it will be accepted domestically and internationally.

Costco Travel can save members time and money when booking their next excursion. However, note that one must have an active Costco membership to use the service. While Costco Travel can save time and energy, making an extra effort to compare prices can get you the best deals. Offers may be combined with Costco Travel to get the most value.

7 things to know about booking travel through Costco

number for costco travel

Costco, America’s beloved wholesale behemoth best known for its bulk goods and Kirkland Signature™ private label, has long been one of the country’s favorite one-stop shops. Here, you can get high-end perfume and camping gear. Although most people know that Costco has great deals on household paper goods, they may not realize that Costco has been in the travel business since 2000. Costco Travel offers members discounted rental cars, cruises and guided group trips, as well as domestic and international vacations.

Because Costco Travel is a division under the regular Costco umbrella, its users can expect the same benefits shopping for a vacation as they would shopping for chicken. Here’s how it works: Costco Travel is made up of buying teams, just like the dealmaking foot soldiers who work for regular Costco. These buyers work with travel vendors to negotiate lower prices on a limited number of goods (i.e., hotel rooms or cruise fares), then offer those discounted rates and packages to the many millions of Costco members. Buyers don’t work on commission or incentives; their job is simply to secure the best value.

Other wholesale stores like Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale Club also sell discounted travel experiences, but Costco’s cult-like following and robust vacation package options make the company stand out from the pack.

Perhaps the nicest part of booking with Costco Travel is that it’s straightforward. The prices advertised on the website already include taxes, so you don’t end up with a completely different estimate at the end of the process, unlike other online travel agencies (like Booking.com or Hotels.com).

Intrigued? Before you book a trip with Costco Travel, here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. There’s something for everyone

There isn’t one kind of Costco Travel vacation. The most popular itineraries usually involve Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean and cruising, but there’s much more out there to book. Costco Travel has trips for adventure-seekers , for young people ages 18 to 35 who want to travel with fellow young people, or people who want to drink a bunch of wine in a new place.

The prices vary, too. Travelers can hunt for packages around $300 in the Under $499 category or splurge on one of the “Costco Vacations of a Lifetime.”

You don’t have to book a big blockbuster vacation to reap the Costco Travel benefits, either. You can use the service to book an individual hotel room, or a hotel and flight. And according to insiders, one of the best-kept secrets is its rental-car business.

2. Look for Buyer’s Choice vacations or cruises, or Kirkland Signature vacations

Costco Travel insiders say that where the real savings lurk are in Kirkland Signature vacations , Buyer’s Choice vacations and Hot Buys, or limited-time deals that are advertised online and in Costco email newsletters. These trips will offer added value and amenities beyond what regular Costco Travel experiences already deliver.

3. Take advantage of flexible payment options

Costco members have options when it comes to how to pay, like setting up recurring payments to cover the whole cost. You’ll probably have to pay a deposit on packages or pay for your airfare upfront, and some payment requirements may depend on the time of year. People who are able to pay early may be eligible for bigger savings .

4. Do your research on airfare before you book

Shalen Fairbanks, a Costco member who lives in Silver Spring, Md., first started using Costco Travel six years ago. She has booked five trips for her family to Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. Her advice to potential Costco Travel users would be to shop around for flights before booking a trip, because she has occasionally found better airfare deals than what Costco offered.

“You pick where you want to go, [Costco Travel] gives you a bunch of different options of hotels and packages, and then I do look at airfare separately,” Fairbanks says. “Sometimes it’s cheaper to go buy your own flight and then book the rest of the package” through Costco Travel.

If you do go with Costco Travel’s airfare option, which often comes with airport transfers, make sure you book any upgrades ahead of time. Charleston, S.C., resident Michael Fanning booked an African safari through Costco Travel when he noticed that it cost drastically less than what he had seen elsewhere.

“The trip was fantastic,” Fanning says. “I mean, it really was extraordinary.”

But one thing he would’ve done differently: “The one part that was not as fun was the 14-hour plane ride on South African Airways from JFK to Johannesburg,” Fanning says. “That’s a tough trip. We would have preferred to have upgraded our seats, but we weren’t allowed to do that through the package.”

Already thinking about summer travel? Good. It’s time to book flights now.

5. Get cash back on your vacation purchase

Depending on your membership level, you may be able to get even better deals on a vacation when you book with Costco Travel. Executive Members (whose annual fee is $120) earn 2 percent cash back on their Costco Travel purchases.

Members who book their travel with a Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi credit card (a card with no foreign transaction fees, by the way) earn 3 percent cash back.

6. Costco Travel trips come with perks

Executive Members are treated to benefits like food and beverage credits, spa credits, room upgrades and more for the primary cardholder booking the trip. The extras that get thrown into vacation packages are one of Fairbanks’s favorite parts of using Costco Travel.

“They’ll give you a $250 Costco Rebate Card,” she says. “The [trips] we’ve been on have a $100 or $200 spa credit per room. The one to Jamaica, we had a spa credit per room, plus we got $200 to use toward the local activity” company.

That Jamaica trip also included access to a VIP departure experience at the airport that got the Fairbankses through customs quicker. Accounting for the perks her family of five earned, Fairbanks estimates she saved the cost of one person’s trip.

7. Costco can’t control everything

While the planning and booking can be seamless, keep in mind that Costco Travel trips can have hiccups, like any travel experience. For example, the Fairbankses’ airport transfer didn’t show up for their scheduled pickup. “But that’s a problem on the company that made this transfer,” she says — not Costco’s. “Their driver didn’t show up that day.”

In the event that anything goes awry, pick up the phone and contact a Costco Travel representative to assist with any issues.

Public health alert issued over ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli

number for costco travel

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert Saturday for ground beef products produced in March and shipped to food service institutions and retailers nationwide that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The raw ground beef items were produced March 28, 2024, have a packaging date of "032824" and have a Use/Freeze by date of April 22, 2024. The affected products also have an establishment number of "EST. 960A", found inside the USDA mark of inspection .

There is no recall for these items because they are no longer available for purchase, the FSIS says. Anyone who has previously purchased the products should not conserve or serve them, and they should be thrown away or return to their place of purchase.

What ground beef products are under the health alert?

The problem was discovered by Greater Omaha Packing Co. while conducting an inventory of product that was on hold because it was positive for E. coli, according to the FSIS, which was notified that the company had "inadvertently used a portion of the contaminated beef to produce ground beef products that they subsequently shipped into commerce."

The products' labels under the health alert can be found on the FSIS' website.

There have not been any confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of these products, and anyone concerned about an illness is recommended to contact their healthcare provider.

What is E. coli?

Escherichia coli, abbreviated as  E. coli , are bacteria that are found in the environment, foods and intestines of people and animals, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Although most strains of E. coli are harmless, some can make you sick and cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections, respiratory illnesses and pneumonia and other illnesses.

While symptoms can vary person to person, common symptoms for E. coli can include severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Some people can have a fever, often less than 101 degrees Fahrenheit, and most people get better within five to seven days.

Most people who are infected start feeling sick three to four days after eating or drinking something that contains the bacteria, but illnesses can start anywhere from one to 10 days after exposure.

Some infections are very mild, but the CDC says others can be severe or life-threatening.

What’s the Most Popular Costco Product? Here’s a State-by-State Breakdown

This is what Costco shoppers are buying most.

The Most Popular Costco Item in Every State

When it comes to shopping at Costco , everyone does it differently. Some visit the food court or make a beeline for one of the chain’s piping hot rotisserie chickens , while others prefer to dedicate their Costco trips to stocking up on paper goods and other home essentials. No matter what gets you through the doors at your local Costco, every customer likely has their favorite item—the one that they simply can’t ignore on each shopping trip. Thanks to new data from CouponBirds.com , a coupon aggregation site, we now know what the most popular Costco item is in each state. While there are a handful of states without a designated favorite, the Coupon Birds folks poured over a combination of social media data and Google intel to determine which Costco product shoppers in each state purchase the most. More specifically, the team constructed a list of the 30 most-discussed Costco products across various social media platforms—including Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram—and ranked said items. They then used the location of the comments and Google Trends data to determine the most popular item by state.  Unsurprisingly, several patterns emerged. Keep reading for a deeper dive into the most popular Costco products across the country, including that state-by-state breakdown.

Convenience Wins

When it comes to the most popular item, it’s not surprising that convenience is key. In fact, the product that reigned supreme is the Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells, which dominated the online discussions in an impressive four states—Georgia, Mississippi, New York, and Ohio—the most out of any single item. Shoppers love the fact that this mac and cheese has more protein than most boxed varieties, thus making it a bit healthier, and also praised it for its ease, cheesiness, and affordability. Another convenient item that followed closely behind is the Trident Fish Sticks, which are the most popular Costco purchase in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Washington. Sold frozen, these fish sticks are panko breaded and ready-to-eat in as little as three minutes.

As far as in-store labels go, Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand is one of the best there is. We’ve chosen our favorite Kirkland Signature items , and it’s no surprise that shoppers across the country have their own top Kirkland picks as well. In fact, nearly two thirds (19 out of 30) of Costco’s most popular products come from the Kirkland Signature line. This includes Kirkland Signature Organic No-Salt Seasoning, Kirkland Signature Three Berry Blend, and Kirkland Signature Italian-Style Beef Meatballs.

Not every grocery store chain sells alcohol, but Costco does, and at reasonable prices to boot. The clear favorites in the alcohol category are the Kirkland Signature Prosecco and the Kirkland Signature French Vodka. The prosecco was the most popular Costco item in three states—Arizona, California, and Illinois—while the vodka (which is rumored to be a dupe of Grey Goose ) took top honors in Delaware and Michigan.

Everyone Needs Necessities

When you think of Costco you may think mainly of all the food and drinks you can buy, but the chain also stocks a variety of everyday items (including many affiliated with its own Kirkland Signature label) that shoppers can’t live without. This includes Kirkland Signature Premium Paper Towels, a favorite in Alabama and Alaska, and Kirkland Signature Diapers, the most purchased item in Utah.

Now that we’ve taken you through some of the key data points, here’s the breakdown of the most popular Costco item in each state:

Alabama: Kirkland Signature Premium Paper Towels Alaska: Kirkland Signature Premium Paper Towels Arizona: Kirkland Signature Prosecco Arkansas: N/A California: Kirkland Signature Prosecco Colorado: Kirkland Signature Maple Syrup Connecticut: Woozoo Globe Fan Delaware: Kirkland Signature French Vodka Florida: Kirkland Signature Three Berry Blend Georgia: Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells Hawaii: Woozoo Globe Fan Idaho: Kirkland Signature Italian-Style Beef Meatballs Illinois: Kirkland Signature Prosecco Indiana: Kirkland Signature Stretch Tite Plastic Food Wrap Iowa: Sanders Small Batch Wonders Sea Salt Caramel Kansas: N/A Kentucky: Reese's Dipped Animal Crackers Louisiana: N/A Maine: Kirkland Signature Premium Bath Tissue Maryland: Kirkland Signature Three Berry Blend Massachusetts: Trident Fish Sticks Michigan: Kirkland Signature French Vodka Minnesota: Sutton Place Cooling Throw Mississippi: Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells Missouri: General Mills Morning Summit Cereal Montana: Reese’s Dipped Animal Crackers Nebraska: Reese's Dipped Animal Crackers Nevada: Kirkland Signature Organic No-Salt Seasoning New Hampshire: Costco Fresh Berries New Jersey: Kirkland Signature Stretch Tite Plastic Food Wrap New Mexico: Kirkland Signature Leggings New York: Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells North Carolina: N/A North Dakota: Food Court Hotdog/Soda Combo Ohio: Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells Oklahoma: N/A Oregon: Bibigo Cooked Sticky Rice Pennsylvania: General Mills Morning Summit Cereal Rhode Island: N/A South Carolina: Kirkland Signature Maple Syrup South Dakota: Kirkland Signature Italian-Style Beef Meatballs Tennessee: La Terra Fina Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread Texas: General Mills Morning Summit Cereal Utah: Kirkland Signature Diapers Vermont: Costco Fresh Berries Virginia: Trident Fish Sticks Washington: Trident Fish Sticks West Virginia: N/A Wisconsin: Sutton Place Cooling Throw Wyoming: N/A

5 brand-name health and beauty items at costco that can save you more than $60.

When most folks think of Costco , they think of the excellent deals customers can reap on its Kirkland Signature brand, gas purchases, and even scrumptious goodies at its food court. What often slips people's minds is that Costco offers great deals on brand-name products that we all know and love, too.

As the weather gets warmer and days get longer, it's a great time to stock up on products that will benefit our skin and bodies. You can save over $60 on the following five brand-name health and beauty items by purchasing from Costco at today's prices, compared to even the cheapest big-box retailers. That's enough savings to recoup the cost of Costco's basic membership ($60 annually), and even get you halfway to an Executive membership ($120 annually). Don't overlook these deals!

1. Olay Pro Advanced Retinol Complex. 1.7 oz, 2-pack

Costco price: $36.99 (limited time – through May 5, 2024)

Walmart price: $63.99

This product offers the biggest savings of the bunch, with an extra $15 discount available through May 5. After that date, the price will go back to its regular Costco price of $51.99. You'll save $27 on this product by buying before the sale expires. But even if you don't get to it in time, you'll still save $12 compared to Walmart.

This Olay Pro Advanced Retinol Complex Moisturizer hydrates and revitalizes. It contains collagen peptides and retinoids to boost the look and feel of your skin, and boasts brighter and smoother skin, overnight! This product is great for all ages. I love it, and so does my 68-year-old mother.

2. Sun Bum Original SPF 50, 5 oz, 2-pack

Costco price: $21.99

Walmart price: $33.81 (sale price, originally $39)

Sticking with the theme of skin care, protect your skin from the sun's harsh rays with this Sun Bum spray-on sunscreen . Get a pack of two for just $21.99 and save $11.82 compared to Walmart's sale price.

This sunscreen isn't cheap, but it's great! I used it for my recent trip to Aruba and didn't get even the slightest hint of a sunburn during my entire vacation. The scent is pleasant, and it has a moisturizing formula with Vitamin E. This particular brand of sunscreen is also reef safe and perfect for ocean use, without harmful ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate that can harm our ocean's coral reefs. Another perk? It's FSA eligible for those of you with flexible spending accounts looking for a way to spend funds before they expire.

3. Secret Outlast Antiperspirant Deodorant, 2.6 oz, 4-pack

Costco price: $18.99

Walmart price: $23.88 ($5.97 each)

This pack of heavy-duty Secret Outlast deodorant comes in an invisible solid, Completely Clean scent. It's refreshing, and let me tell you, it works! At the risk of telling you too much about myself, I'll just say that this brand and style of deodorant is the first I've come across in my adult life that truly keeps me fresh all day long, no matter what I put it through.

Your savings here aren't as impressive ($4.89) compared to the first two products. But you'll still save by stocking up, and trust me, this is the type of product you don't want to run out of. Think ahead: it makes a great stocking stuffer for adults, as well!

4. Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash, 33.8 fl oz, 3-pack

Costco price: $12.99 Walmart price: $25.92

Now our skin is smooth and protected, our pits are fresh and smell fabulous, so what's left? Don't forget to keep your mouth fresh, too! This Crest Pro-Health Advanced Complete Care mouthwash comes in a three-pack of 33.8 fluid ounce bottles. It's alcohol-free and has a refreshing clean mint flavor. It offers six benefits, including enamel protection, strengthening teeth, and of course freshening breath. A three-pack of the same size bottles from Walmart will cost you $12.93 more, so do your personal finances a favor and stock up at Costco instead!

5. Tylenol PM Extra Strength Acetaminophen 500 mg Pain Reliever & Sleep Aid, 225 Caplets

Costco price: $24.99

Walmart price: $29.96

Is there a better way to close out a long summer day full of excitement and activity than by soothing away those lingering aches and pains and ensuring you can do it all again tomorrow with the help of some Tylenol PM ? Generally, you'll find larger bottles of OTC medications at warehouse clubs like Costco. The largest bottle I could find for comparison at Walmart was just 150 caplets for $19.97. But by calculating the per-unit price and multiplying that number by 225 (the number of caplets in Costco's bottle), we learn that we can save $4.97 by buying from Costco.

Now, it's worth mentioning that medications can lose efficacy if they sit unused for long periods. But for larger families, or even just a household that goes through a lot of Tylenol, buying in bulk can provide decent savings on this product.

Don't overlook Costco's brand-name deals

Some quick calculations show that buying these five brand-name health and beauty products from Costco will save shoppers approximately $61.61 compared to Walmart's low prices. Keep in mind too, that Costco prices used here are all online prices. Costco's online prices are higher than its store prices to account for built-in shipping and handling. So visiting your nearest warehouse club and picking these items up in store could save you even more!

Give your credit card tab a break and take advantage of these products from Costco that will keep you fresh, healthy, and happy all spring and summer long!

Top credit card to use at Costco (and everywhere else!)

Envying a nice find in a nearby Costco shopper’s cart is quite common, and adding that SKU to your own haul may just be human nature. After all, who can stand to miss out on a bulk deal when the opportunity presents itself?

If you’re eager to peer into the Costco carts of shoppers nationwide, this new survey is for you.

The coupon aggregation site CouponBirds.com looked at social metrics to determine which Costco products are the most popular purchases in each state. Mac and cheese, fish sticks, and Kirkland prosecco all made the list. And yes, products from Costco’s in-house brand, Kirkland, feature prominently as most states’ most popular items.

ablokhin / Getty Images

The analysis didn’t source sales data from Costco but rather examined 50 popular hashtags and posts regarding Costco products across social media platforms including Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, and Reddit. This methodology found the 30 most discussed Costco products as of March 2024. The number of comments about each product, along with Google trends data, was used to rank the 30 products in popularity, by state.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most popular product overall is a convenience grocery that hits pasta cravings with a little added nutrition. Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells is the most popular item for Costco shoppers in Georgia, Mississippi, New York, and Ohio. That’s quite a regional stretch of Goodles lovers! Though the specialty product is not carried in every store, an eight-pack of Goodles' Cheddy Mac retails for $17.99 at Costco — about $2.25 per box — making it a bit cheaper than Target’s price of $3.39 per box. With food costs currently skyrocketing , any savings on groceries, particularly pantry nonperishables to stock up on, are welcome.

Though no other product is the most popular in four states simultaneously, several products have triple-state ties. Trident Fish Sticks , sold in a 4-pound bag in the freezer section, are most popular in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Washington. Reese's Dipped Animal Crackers are big hits in Kentucky, Montana, and Nebraska. General Mills Morning Summit Cereal has its best audience in Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Texas. And Kirkland Prosecco , Costco’s very own sparkling wine, wins the popularity contest in Arizona, California, and Illinois.

Among the top Kirkland products, several necessities and more fun items topped states’ lists. Alaskans’ most popular purchase is Kirkland Premium Paper Towels ; Floridians and folks in Maryland love Kirkland Three Berry Blend ; Vermont and New Hampshire favor Kirkland Fresh Berries ; South Carolina and Colorado are all about Kirkland Maple Syrup ; New Mexico is getting dressed in Kirkland Leggings , and New Jersey loves Kirkland Signature Stretch Tite Plastic Food Wrap .

That tracks, honestly.

Up north, Maine shoppers go to Costco for Kirkland Premium Bath Tissue , Michiganders are filling carts with Kirkland French Vodka (often compared to Grey Goose), and the Sutton Place cooling throw is most popular in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

North Dakotans know how to do Costco right: The food court hot dog-and-soda combo is the state’s most popular commodity, while South Dakota digs Kirkland Italian Style Beef Meatballs , as does Idaho.

Connecticut and Hawaii have something in common, they both have the Woozoo Globe Fan as their most popular Costco purchase. Utah, Nevada, Oregon, and Tennessee all have unique favorites: Kirkland Diapers , Kirkland No Salt Seasoning , Bibigo Cooked Sticky Rice , and La Terra Fina Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread , respectively.

Kansas, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Louisiana shoppers didn’t post enough on social media for data analysis, and three states are still sadly without Costcos of their own. Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Wyoming are all Costco-free, for now.

The Most Popular Costco Products in (Almost) Every State

Ease up on the Kirkland Signature French Vodka, Michigan.

By Jake Rossen | Apr 24, 2024

Costco's biggest product success stories vary by state.

Some stores are merely stores, while others seem to engender a tremendous amount of consumer loyalty. A prime example of the latter is Costco , the cavernous warehouse chain that offers family-sized barrels of food and home goods as well as their vaunted $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.

Recently, coupon hub CouponBirds.com examined data to try and find out which products were the most popular in a given state. The site used social media hashtags and discussion to determine the greatest number of mentions: After determining the 30 most popular items, the site broke down their prevalence in each state. (A few had insufficient data, while others don’t currently have a Costco location.)

The results:

  • Alabama // Kirkland Signature Premium Paper Towels

One of the most popular Costco products in the country by the metrics of CouponBirds.com is the Kirkland Signature Premium paper towel. As paper towels are a frequent-use item, it makes sense that Costco shoppers appreciate buying them in quantity and at bulk prices.

In fact, 19 of the 30 products bear the Kirkland Signature label, which is Costco’s own in-house brand. It was the result of Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal, who decided to kickstart a private label in the 1990s. The name refers to Kirkland, Washington, site of the eighth Costco warehouse and where the Costco corporate headquarters are located.

Another of the most-talked about products: Goodles Cheddy Mac White Cheddar Shells, which seem to vie for boxed mac and cheese loyalty next to the gold (or orange) standard: Kraft.

Costco consumers also seem invested in Trident Fish Sticks, Reese’s Dipped Animal Crackers, and Kirkland Signature Prosecco sparkling wine.

Not surprisingly, some of Costco’s more curious offerings didn’t make the cut. None of the states were eager to discuss the company’s funeral arrangement services, including caskets.

Where do I find my vacation package confirmation numbers on my itinerary?

Your confirmation number will begin with the letter "C".

  • Reference your reservation when speaking to the airline directly
  • Look up your flights on the airline's website and to update seat assignments
Please note, your itinerary will state "Electronic Ticket Issued". This does not mean that this is your ticket. You will still need to check-in online or at the airport to receive your actual airline ticket.

The Flight Confirmation Number is located at the top of the Flights section on your itinerary.

  • Use this number to reference your reservation when speaking to the hotel directly
  • You may find this area blank, as some hotels do not provide a confirmation number. This will not affect the check-in process

The Hotel Confirmation Number is located at the top of the Hotel section on your itinerary.

In the Galician province of Pontevedra, situated on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, lies the city that lends its name to the southernmost estuary of the Rias Baixas: Vigo. Its fishing origin has left an historic quarter with a strong maritime flavour, which contrasts with the modern facilities of its marinas. This city is an excellent base from which to visit the towns and villages along the Vigo estuary and the Cies Isles that form part of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands. The cuisine of the Galician coast, based on fish and seafood, is an added incentive for visiting this region. The port of Vigo, one of the finest natural ports in the world, was the origin of this city fringed by mountains. Its maritime qualities, already exploited in Roman times, have given rise to the present-day marinas and the transatlantic harbour, as well as to the fishing and canning industries. All of this has contributed to the urban development of Vigo, which includes the traditional port area and boasts major historic buildings and wide tree-lined avenues. The historic quarter, the so-called Cidade Vella, is articulated around the old maritime quarter of O Berbés, near the port. Situated in this quarter, which has Tourist-Historical Interest status, are the arcades around the Plaza de la Constitución, fishing streets and emblazoned houses. One of the main features of this network of tiny streets, in which most façades have glass-encased miradors, is the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, the Procathedral of Vigo-Tui. Neoclassical in style, this edifice is constructed on the remains of a Gothic church burned down by the pirate Francis Drake. Also worthy of visit in this area is the do Pedra market, a fascinating place for buying and sampling Galician oysters. The newer part of Vigo occupies a triangle formed by the Puerta del Sol, Colon and Urzaiz. Lining the wide avenues are notable buildings, one such being the García Barbon Cultural Centre, designed by Antonio Palacios. The modern sector contains one of the best miradors over the Vigo estuary, the Monte do Castro mount. Located amidst the forests and leisure areas are the remains of the hill-forts that constituted the early settlement, as well as the ruins of the 10th-century O Penso Castle, the layout of which was used for the construction of the 17th-century Tower Castle still standing. The large Municipal Park of Castrelos is located on what once was the estate of the Quińones de León country house. Amidst Neoclassical gardens and ancient trees, the Municipal Park contains an interesting collection of Roman steles, furniture and statuary, and an art gallery exhibiting European works from the Baroque period as well modern works by Galician artists. The park also boasts an open-air auditorium where key music events are held. The mounts of A Madroa and A Guía that lay around the city of Vigo provide magnificent viewpoints from which to admire the surrounding landscape. Also worthy of a visit is the Zoo, situated on Mount A Madroa, whilst the Municipal Park also contains the hermitage of Nosa Seńora da Guia. The Galician Museum of the Sea, situated at the Punta do Muińo in the parish of Alcabre, comprises buildings, gardens, a square and a wharf. The work of Aldo Rossi and César Portella, this complex houses various items related to the sea. The city of Vigo is easily accessible thanks to the motorway and airport, and there are also excellent nautical facilities and a golf course in the vicinity. At its maritime station it is possible to purchase passages to the coastal towns of Cangas and Moańa on the other side of the estuary, and even to the Cíes Isles. Part of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands, the sheer cliffs and dunes of these isles are the home of thousands of migratory birds. The route along the Vigo Estuary affords the contemplation of historic country houses such as Baiona. Its parador, an incomparable viewpoint over the Atlantic, combines elements of the past, such as the medieval fortress, with vestiges of Galician stately architecture. The restaurant serves both traditional and highly imaginative dishes made with products from the region, such as sea bass with razor-shells in turnip green sauce. The beaches of Nigrán, the oysters of Arcade and, further inland, the Mondariz Spa, are just some of the area's numerous attractions. Another attraction of the province of Pontevedra is its capital city, which is situated on the estuary of the same name. The network of streets and squares that make up its historic quarter contain major civic and religious buildings. The palace of the Counts of Maceda houses the city's parador, which provides privileged accommodation for over-night stays. Another of the major ports along the Pontevedra Estuary is Marín, famous for the Naval Military School. Other places of interest, and also boasting excellent beaches, are Combarro, Sanxenxo and Portonovo; so too, the Ons Isles, which close the estuary and form part of the Galician National Park. The Arousa Estuary leads to Villagarcia de Arousa, O Grove and the island of A Toxa, which boasts one of Galicia's most impressive spas. Visitors to Cambados can stay at its parador, housed in the former Pazo de Batán country house dating back to the 17th century. Towards the south of the province, almost on the Portuguese border, the itinerary continues with the Monte Aloia Nature Reserve, which contains highly interesting archaeological remains; the historic city of Tui, the point of entry into Spain for the Northern Road of the "ruta jacobea" pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, where the parador is situated amidst mountains and rivers; and A Guarda at the mouth of the river Mińo, where the hill-fort of the Monte Santa Tegra is a worthwhile visit. All of these places offer the opportunity to sample the delicious cuisine that Galician tradition has preserved and that is now exploited by the most innovative chefs. The Rías Baixas provide hake, turbot and sea bass, not to mention a whole range of shellfish including goose barnacles, oysters, clams, mussels and cockles. These raw materials are served in stews and pies, on their own or combined with other flavours and textures. Veal and Galician potatoes, known as "cachelos", both have Label Guarantee status and are used in the tastiest of dishes. Wines with the Rías Baixas Label Guarantee make an excellent accompaniment to any of these dishes. Local cuisine sampling can be rounded off by a slice of Santiago cake (an almond-based sponge) and a "queimada", a traditional beverage obtained by flaming the local eau-de-vie.

Porto is the second largest city in Portugal. The greatest sites in Porto are its five bridges, three modern, two nineteenth century and all of them sensational. The valleys and tributaries that run along them form some of the most spectacular landscapes in the the country. The wealth that flowed into the city from the 15th century onward is evidenced throughout Porto. Trade in the commodities from Portugal’s newly claimed lands brought Brazilian gold and exotic woods to embellish Porto’s many elaborate churches and palaces. Prosperous merchants spent lavishly on paintings and the ever famous azulejos. The true fascination with Porto lies very much in the day-to-day life of the place, with its prosperous business core surrounded by well to do suburbs as well as depressed housing estates, tempered by a heart of cramped streets and ancient alleys wholly untouched by the planners. Porto is renowned for the great variety of light, fresh and often fizzy wines as well as the heavyweight Port wines. Vinho verde ‘sparkling wine’, is grown in the northwest. Country wines from the northeast are made in the area between the Spanish border to the north and east and four mountain ranges to the west. The Vinho verde region is best known for its slightly under-ripe wines, with a slightly sparkling character. They are mainly white, and the best are made from the alvarinho grape, as well as the azal, ljurerio and rabigato. Wines from the Douro region are beginning to be accepted as some of Portugal’s finest. Although excellent white wines are produced here, the area is best known for its great reds. The accommodations in Porto range from inexpensive rooms (south east of Sao Bento station) that will fit just about any budget to more expensive places around the city. They are generally a good value but in winter investing in a more expensive place with better facilities to counter the freezing cold is worth the a little extra.
