Le Petit Patrimoine

Traditional french restaurant | tours.

This restaurant popular with Tourangeaux since 1991 famous as the name suggests, the local culinary heritage. Traditional recipes here reveal their richer flavors through the crackling pie and Sainte-Maure de Touraine, the parmentière veal, fish from the Loire. The setting between tufa stone and exposed beams, perfectly matches the authenticity of the cuisine, which remains innovative and creative ... Little Heritage offers a selection of authentic wines because it provides Live from the Loire Valley winemakers. Surely one of the best tours of addresses, to be discovered, by reservation.

Open Tuesday to Saturday from 12h to 14h and 19h to 22h. Reservations recommended. Menus from € 23.80 to € 2.80. Lunchtime: € 13.50 and € 15.50. Wine of the day. Holiday vouchers, Cheque Restaurant. Terrace.

Le Petit Atelier

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Great coffee and delicious cakes and desserts. The only minuses are that it closes very early (18:00 or 18:30) and on Sundays is closed. 😟

A cosy coffee shop with relaxed ambience, great coffee and teas with homemade desserts. A nice relief from sightseeing nearby historical sites or shopping in the center of Tours. Visited twice and surprisingly as a tourist experienced good conversations with the local clientele.

Perfefct place for a good coffe/thea break. Loungy atmosphere. Small snacks are available too (sandwich) and cakes!

I'm kidding, it's good not for hipsters only ;) You know what's missing in Tours? Good coffee spot where you can take a nice mug of coffee, work a little or chat with friends. Well it was missing before, now we've got a Petit Atelier!... :) I tried here a mocaccino and a carrot pie and my friend took a sandwich. So our big compliments for a chef, everything was just perfect! You know the sandwiches you never find in France, ones that makes no crunches? They live here!:) P.S. You can take coffee to go too!:) More

Arrived in Tours today and needed a coffee after a slightly stressful car journey. Two cappuccinos, absolutely delicious. The best coffee we've had so far. A lovely quirky and scrupously clean little cafe plus service with a smile. What more can you want!

In a sad town, a horrible street, this is the only place worth a stay. Very nice patrons, awesome cappuccino just like those you can find in every Italian bar. Cosy and smart. Very nice!

Grazie per aver dedicato del tempo per scrivere questa recensione ottima !!!

Called in for coffee and cake on a Sunday afternoon. This is a gem of a place, with friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Tasty food too and coffee made to perfection. Worth a detour to find this place.

Very relaxed coffee shop set up with cozy mixed styles of furniture. V.Good coffee(pity decaf not available). Waiter who served us both days was both friendly and professional. Definitely a popular spot in Tours & rightly so.

Coffee the way I like it, a stylish but laid back atmosphere, attentive customer service. It’s surrounded by routine businesses but it’s a cut above the rest. Recommended.

Early morning breakfast on the go. Great coffee, fresh orange juice and home made brownies. Well worth detour into the centre.

Drove 14 km for lunch here and now know we would go twice the distance. She makes all the goods. Generous portions. Plenty of flavor. Super neighborly and tolerant of our English-only. We had pea and goat cheese quiche and a cinnamon roll and a... chocolate chip cookie and it was all delicious. Indie coffee shop vibe and a healthy respect for tea drinkers - the Earl Grey was very nice. (How can I get the French to know that the tea bag goes in the cup before the water? ...been trying for two weeks....) 26€ Super clean, good contemporary design, smart-feeling spot. Best for solo or pairs, but groups of three or four can find a spot, and there is seating on the little walk street. Highly recommend. More

If you search for a cosy hipster place in Tours, that's where you need to go. Good coffee with choices to your taste. Baristas know what they are talking about. Great choice of pastries, mostly Anglo-Saxon kind, not French.

This was the best coffee we had while we were in France in a lovely little street. We went everyday! Nothing fancy but boy they know how to make good coffee! Selection of pastries and cakes available too. Friendly service and great value! We miss... it!! More

We seek good coffee when we travel and have found most of the coffee in France disappointing. Early on a Saturday morning in Tours, as we were returning to Paris, we enjoyed the finest latte we’ve experienced in six weeks of travel throughout France, including... a month in Paris. Congratulations to the young woman who runs this shop. She has succeeded in her mission to bring the best coffee there is to Tours. More

Along the pedestrian section of Rue Colbert with its long line of food places is this excellent coffee shop. Seating outside or comfortably inside this is a perfect place for real coffee made with care. From cafe longues to cappucinos they are all here and... carefully prepared. Enjoy the cakes but come here for three reasons a) for the excellent coffee b) the cakes and c) the excellent service Just brilliant More

Arrived at 1740 after a 30 minute ride here to be told they don't serve anything 20 minutes before ... Grrr not happy ! BUT!!.... came back the day after and the coffee and atmosphere is absolutely divine ! Worth two trips across town for

Photo of Kristen O.

My husband and I recently traveled to tours and we stopped by here daily for the delicious coffee, pastries and kind service. The store is run by a husband and wife she does the baking and he runs the shop. We are still dreaming about the scones and quiche. We liked the coffee so much we even brought some home to California. It's organic and roasted in France. You won't be able to come here only once.

Very tasty, home made food with friendly service. One of the best experiences we had on our vacation in France.

Possibly the best coffee you will have in Tours! I had a flat white - the shot was flavorful and the milk was well streamed, not overheated.

Photo of David D.

The coffee here is so good, he takes his time to make sure it's special and is presented well. The cakes were also very fresh and delicious. Only wish I lived closer!

Le petit patrimoine

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

We had a wonderful dining experience, from the ambiance, to the friendly service, to the delicious food. The menu (charmingly written on a large chalkboard that gets moved around as new patrons arrive) is very traditional to the region, with local wine options to compliment... the food. The servers were happy to help translate the menu for us and offer recommendations. Braised veal was a standout! We highly recommend. More

A lovely small restaurant serving local Tours food. Situated in Rue Colbert, a street full of restaurants and bars. We were lucky to get in here. We had the fixed price menu, and added a small supplement for local cheeses. Good vegetarian choices and an... excellent local Sauvignon Blanc house wine. More

petit restaurant tours

Amazing place! Service is perfect! Affordable gastronomic food! Ask for advices when choosing the wine. They know everything about it and only work directly with producers! I highly recommend this place. Unfortunately it’s a small restaurant and you need to wait sometimes.

We went with my wife a Saturday night. The environment was quite good, but the food not even close. For hors-d'œuvres we ordered a courgette soup "creme de courges", which was quite tasty, and a marrow bow with a pochée egg "œuf poché alcofribas et... son os à moelle", which was terrible. It was pre cooked, heated in the microwave and the marrow bow was cold! As a main dish we took the filet mignon and a piece of beef with a sauce, both nothing special. For dessert we ordered a chocolate parfait with a creme anglaise. Unfortunately it was also a great disappointment. We could easily find a better dessert in any local patisserie. Including a 500ml red wine (not of a good taste or quality), which cost 20€ we paid approximately 68-70€. Not a good experience or a value for money! More

for the price it was really good - we had lunch there and i liked the place. its near the st. gatien cathedral so if you are near there, this is a great place to go ... they have a prix-fixe menu for lunch and... perhaps for dinner too.. More

You could tell that the Cook was a proper chef. Meal extremely well presented. Young man who was the waiter was attentive and worked hard all night handling the small restaurant alone. Really recommend for a lovely meal

My wife and I found this place in Rue Colbert, Tours, France, as it was one of the few recommended establishments that were still open for business from my old 2006 Rough Guide to France. It certainly lived up to its recommendation, and of the... many nights we stayed in Tours, we ate here EVERY NIGHT. Such was the wonderful and varied menu, and the warm welcome of the staff ! We were travelling in a group of 33 people. All of whom had gone in search of a nice meal, and many had been disappointed. So we recommended this place. The next night, there was 4 of us, and 2 more had to be turned away as the place was full to bursting and none of us had reserved a table. So the next night the 4 of us decided to reserve tables, and told more of the group. The following night there were 8 of us, and yet more turned away because it was full. By the last night there were 12 of us sitting there, enjoying the food. All commented that this place was the best they had found in the whole of Tours, France, by a considerable margin, and they were most envious that we had discovered this gem at the beginning of the holiday and had eaten there every night since. The only disappointment you will get if you try this, is if you are turned away because you failed to book a table, and it was full (like every night). The place even has tables out of the street, such is the popularity with locals, and a few lucky tourists in the know. Good choice of food, nice sized potions, high end dining, excellent wines and good beers (ales). What is not to like ? More

We came across this restaurant by chance just walking the very crowded rue Colbert. Let me tell you, we were very lucky to have chosen it. It's a little restaurant with a few tables, but don't be fooled, the food is amazing! We didn't know... what to order as our french is not as good as we would like, so the waiter took it upon himself to make sure we had a great experience and was very patient at explaining the dishes and offering recommendations of food and wine. I don't care if there are other restaurants in tours with better ratings because to us, with that service and that food was enough to make it the gastronomical highlight of our trip to Tours and we remember it with a smile on our faces. More

We came across this restaurant by chance while on a trip to Tours. Located on a pedestrian street which is full of restaurants and bars and within a five minute walk of the Best Western Hotel.. The restaurant is small but has a really pleasant... atmosphere. There was one waiter serving the entire restaurant and he was excellent. He took time with us over the menu as our french is very limited. His recommendation of pork or salmon from the menu, which we had was superb. The wine list had an excellent selection of local wines which complimented the main courses. This was our last night in France after a 3 week vacation, and this was our best meal by far, for taste, presentation and value for money. More

My husband and I had lunch here today. We each has haricots vertes with salmon salads and then a plat du jour. I had salmon artistically surrounded with vegetables. My husband had beef. We both thought they were wonderful. They suggested a new wine for... me. A Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay blend which was perfect. Service outstanding. Perfect French lunch! More

Somewhat disappointed with our dinner here...we shared the ravioli appetizer, it was OK...then my wife had the parmentier veal (their version of a shepherd's pie)...it had an overwhelming touch of acidity (maybe too much vinegar?) while I had the cod filet (with a ceviche marinade),... which I enjoyed. Both dishes were served warm, but not hot like we prefer...too much time in presentation, which is not a highly valued preference for us. 86€, including a bottle of rosè and a dessert, but they forgot the Cafe I had requested... More

This little 30 seats maybe place is located amongst many restaurants on a pedestrianised street. Great service, waiters English way better than my French, great polished service and friendly. Food quality was great and very tasty. The place was very busy on a Wednesday night... with several tables having multiple diners while we were there. I’d go again when next in Tours. Good priced Prix fine meal. More

My partner and I arrived about 7 and were lucky to get a seat outside. We opted for the three course menu and were so happy we chose to sample so many French dishes. Everything was fantastic. The service was great, the blonde French waiter... was so patient with us as we don't speak French. He explained the whole menu to us and also went through the wines to ensure we were happy with our choices. The prices were also great considering the standard of food and service we paid approx 65€ for two people for three courses, 1/2 bottle of rose and a few beers. Can't recommend this place enough! More

petit restaurant tours

Easy going place with simple menu, service was litte slow, but who cares in France. Not too expensive either, farily limited menu choice. Good value for money, great location.

We chose this place at random after inspecting the menu at the door - we were not disappointed. All of the food was very good, but the main courses were exceptional. The rabbit was very full of flavour, and the chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender with... a sublime mushroom perfume. Really excellent. For 2 people eating 3 courses and a bottle of gamay wine, the meal came to 57 Euro, which I think is great value for money. Highly recommended! More

More

More

  • Petit Fours: Let These 7 MICHELIN-Starred Restaurants Tickle Your Sweet Tooth

The last course of most tasting menus, Petit Fours leave a sweet and lasting memory for the diner. Here's what seven MICHELIN-Starred restaurants in Singapore serve in theirs.

desserts Michelin Guide Singapore 2021 sweet

petit restaurant tours

To cap off a delicious meal, Petit Fours are usually served post-dessert, along with coffee or tea, in a tasting menu. Some chefs find fun with the wordplay; hence, presenting four sweet bites, which has become more of a playful tradition. However, despite its reference to the the English word "four", the French culinary term Petit Fours does not have anything to do with the actual number. When translated from French,  Petit Four means “small oven”, and sometimes, it is seen alongside another French dining term:  Mignardise . While both allude to bite-sized desserts served at the end of the meal, what sets the two apart is that Petit Four  is usually baked in the oven. For example, madeleines, tarts, macarons, and canelés are baked in the oven, so they would be considered petit four , whereas jellies and chocolates are  mignardises . For those who have a sweet tooth and find delight in these small, indulgent treats — or for those who just have a sheer culinary curiosity —  we take a look at what seven MICHELIN-Starred restaurants in the Lion City serve in their array of tiny bites at the end of a luxurious meal.

3-Star Zén's petit four program consists of six different items and is the restaurant's take on a traditional Swedish serving of "Fika", which means "a coffee and cake break".

JAAN by Kirk Westaway

The Final Sweets at JAAN by Kirk Westaway boast a Devon Cream Tea, which comprises a soft Scottish shortbread that envelops clotted cream from Westaway's hometon of Devon, and a house-made raspberry jam. "This is a real nod to my Devonshire heritage, encapsulating key flavours of the traditional British Afternoon Tea," he shares. Next, a Roasted Almond and Caramel, where caramel sauce is dipped in chocolate and rolled in roasted almonds, is described by Westaway as "the ultimate decadence". The Coffee Chocolate, which is decorated with a small JAAN logo, offers a dark chocolate crisp filled with a liquid coffee centre, and in the Lemon Meringue Pie, a homemade lemon curd is deliberately prepared using modern techniques to showcase the quality of produce used at the restaurant. "We start with Devonshire butter, Amalfi lemons, and the best organic eggs from Japan. We cook these together sous vide at 72 degrees for 45 minutes," explains Westaway. "The mixture is then blended and emulsified to produce a cooked lemon curd. By preparing it this way, we ensure that the flavours will not be lost through steam."

“For me, the Petit Fours, or Final Sweets, are the final expression of the dining experience. It’s such an important part because that is what will form the lasting memory for our guests.”

Among the Final Sweets, Westaway confesses that the Devon Cream Tea is his favourite. "Its recipe has barely changed since we started serving it, apart from a few different flavours of jam to reflect seasonality. It’s symbolic of our vision at JAAN ; a modern and elevated take on British gastronomy. I feel it is the perfect way to close off a meal, to be enjoyed with a fragrant cup of English tea. When crafting the Final Sweets, we make sure it is light on the tastebuds. The flavours must be delicate yet memorable."

“Petit Fours, to me, is the edible translation of one last warm hug from the team before you go. After all, we need some sweetness in life.”

A Crème Caramel Rosemary Tart with pink peppercorns evokes a lot of nostalgia for Sperindio. "Crème caramel is one of my all-time favourite desserts. I used to order it all the time during our family outings, usually after a wood-fired pizza. At Art , we have infused it with some fresh rosemary and topped it with a touch of pink peppercorn for character. The final result is an egg-tart-like flan; I have been very fond of egg tarts as well since I moved to Asia," he says. "Cereals Chocolate Tile is an ode to youth. It is filled with milk and puffed barley, so you get toasty and coffee notes. Think of it as coffee and cereal enjoyed together," says the Italian chef. To celebrate the coming of spring, Solero , a medley of coconut gelato and citrus sorbet, is also served. "This brings memories straight from camping by the beach with my family," says Sperindio. Finally, to wrap up the petit fours  is  Bombolino e Nutella, a signature at Art , and is also Sperindio's favourite among the selection.

"It's an absolute favourite snack for all seasons, filled with a luxurious homemade gianduja (hazelnut chocolate) soft cream, made with cacao and hazelnuts from Piedmont. It's the best way to finish the edible journey at Art , departing the restaurant with a lingering gianduja flavour in the mouth. It tastes like a home run for me every time," he says.

Buona Terra

Chef Denis Lucchi of Buona Terra  fondly recalls past treats such as Bread, Chocolate, and Olive Oil, which holds a personal story to it. "This petit four is inspired by a childhood snack that my grandmother would make after I returned from school. My rendition is a toasted brown buttered sourdough topped with a quenelle of chocolate ganache made purely of chocolate and water. Extra virgin olive oil is drizzled over the ‘toast’, and finally, it is garnished with salt, spices, orange zest, and wild fennel," he shares. "We also used to serve Baci Di Dama or ‘Lady’s Kisses’. Originating from Northern Italy, this cookie is typically eaten with coffee or tea, and our version features a rich 55% Valrhona chocolate ganache sandwiched between the aromatic almond flour cookies." Lucchi also says that petit fours are important as they comprise the last few bites that guests take at the end of a meal. "It forms a lingering memory of the dining experience," he says. "They have to be appealing and full of flavour, all in a single bite; light, delicate, and luscious enough to round up the meal nicely. At Buona Terra , I like to present a selection of petit fours that includes at least one mini treat that is quintessentially Italian, so the menu seamlessly tells our story from start till end."

“Having petit fours at the end of your meal is part of French culture and history. It's a sweet way to end your meal.”

Together with executive pastry chef Suzuki Ryo, Gillon's petit four selection boasts French techniques and Japanese flavours. To be enjoyed first in the sequence is a Red Miso Caramel Macaron with miso buttercream, followed by a Walnut Crumble made with walnut caramel and roasted walnut. Staying true to his mission of showcasing the herbs from the mountains of Savoie,  Melilot , flowers that provide notes of vanilla and tonka bean, is used to flavour a chocolate ganache with grilled cacao nibs; this is also Gillon's favourite among the four. The last of the series is a Black Sesame Petit Choux with black sesame pastry caster cream. RELATED: 7 Must-Have Herbs According to JAG's Jeremy Gillon and His Herb Whisperer

“I enjoy focusing on the classics whilst using creativity to elevate them a little bit, but not steering too far away from the flavours they are recognised for.”

07 Sommer P402.jpeg

"It's a feeling of overindulgence with generosity. I like to focus on the classics when it comes to my  petit fours and cover the grounds of texture and flavour profiles through crunchy, spongy, biscuit-like bases, along with sweet, salty, and acidic notes," he shares. Among the petit fours served at Sommer , Barker says his favourite is the  Choux Croustillant . "I tend to enjoy more citrus-based desserts, and this one covers the sharp acidity of passionfruit, as well as the floral flavour of mango, rounded off with the opalys  chocolate cream."
