The staff can be very nice, the store always smells good and looks clean, but may not always have items in stock. Their food can be expensive for a modest taste. Large pizza can be $20 when the same size pizza that also has more sauce and not as crunchy as $7 at little Caesars Pizza. Food can be over cooked and more expensive still in small portions. Make it be bang for your buck!! Not struggle meals!! Now the Tea is Amazing!! I do 1/3 cup of the raspberry or strawberry then finish the cup with The regular sweet tea!! I have also gotten free food late if there was too much prepared or not enough bought by customers. (This was fantastic)! Last they removed my favorite drink I got every day and still would have if it was still their!! (Cinnabon iced coffee)!! Miss this stuff at my stores location [Strawplains Pike Knox TN] bring back the coffee and fix portions to be a little more for the dollar and I'll raise it to 4 .5 Stars!!

Reserved a spot as i was coming in late. All spots were taken with only 1 truck showing a window tag. App said 15 available. They would not remove any non paying drivers from spots and i was nearly out of hours. They gave me a refund and said giid luck.

Stopped here to buy gas and the first pump I tried flowed less than a gallon a minute. So I stopped the pump and pulled up to another pump only to have the machine tell me to see the cashier. The cashier informed me their pumps were acting up and weren't working. If I can't buy gas at your gas station then you've failed as a business.

Good prices, easy access, typical pump and fuel options, clean. Right around the corner from a Cracker Barrel ;)

One of the best pilots i've been to. Most are tiny, dirty, run down and nothing good to eat. This location has multiple fast food places surrounding such as arbys, taco bell, krystal and burger kind, kfc and a waffle house. Good selection of hot food inside like pizza and wings, soup and fresh salads. And Subway ofcourse. Good service. Friendly workers Clean hot shower with good water pressure. Decent sized parking lot. But you know you gotta get in early to get a spot. All in all a great pilot.

Best coffee in town and much cheaper than Starbucks. Can find almost anything you need for road trip there. Fast in and out.

The clerk who made my Cinnabon hot pecanbon was rude. I had been waiting for her to come to her station for a couple minutes. The manager saw me & when she was complaining to him about something I didn't hear what she said. He told her I was waiting & she came over. She made a point of washing her hands first, then rudely asked what do you want? I asked for a hot out of the oven roll to be made fresh for me. She said "Oh these over here are fresh." I could tell they weren't. The icing wouldn't even soften on them. There was such a thin layer of icing you could see the roll right through it! She didn't add the mixed frosting as they're supposed to add. She only added the caramel topping & one scoop of pecans. When I asked for the squirt on cream cheese she told me rudely that's an extra fifty cents. I politely told her that this was the skimpiest frosting effort I'd ever received on a Cinnabon, but I wouldn't pay extra. I don't recall her name, but her employee number on the receipt says 851. I hope if you want a Cinnabon, she isn't the one preparing it. I love Cinnabon pecanbon rolls, but this one was pretty low quality. I should have gone to the manager immediately but had my hubby waiting in the car & had to go.

Worst frosting job ever!

When I was traveling for work this pilot was the best bathroom spot very clean always nice people and good assortment of Fountain drinks and a small buffet with different specials every day! Love this place

Clean bathrooms, and unlike some pilot stops, this one offers salad as a good option.

We obviously come here to get gas but it's also a good place to take a break. Traveling with 4 kids from NC to western TN is one long trip and this is where we stop so that they can stretch their legs. The bathrooms are clean and there is a lot of room to park and walk around. If you don't want Subway or Cinnabon from inside the store, you have the option of eating at Krystal's, KFC, Burger King, or Puléo's Grille, which are all near the store. Being open 24 hrs is a big plus bc sometimes we'll drive through the night and need to get gas at 2 am.

Pilot Travel Centers LLC Continues Growth in 2024 With New Locations, Remodels and Expanded Truck Maintenance Network

As North America’s largest travel center network, Pilot Travel Centers LLC continues to prioritize strategic growth in 2024 with plans to add 35 travel centers and remodel more than 75 locations across its network. It is also expanding its truck maintenance network of Southern Tire Mart at Pilot Flying J (STMP) shops.

The 2024 growth plan includes building 10 new travel centers to increase the company’s presence in several states, bringing additional services, amenities and over 500 truck parking spaces to the road. With 25 dealer locations also expected to join the network, drivers will gain access to more stops along their routes that are eligible for Pilot Travel Centers LLC’s myRewards loyalty perks and other company programs.

“Expanding into new communities and enhancing our services remains a key part of our long-term strategy,” said Allison Cornish, senior vice president of store modernization and development at Pilot Travel Centers LLC. “We continually evaluate our network with our guests’ needs in mind and are making significant investments in our travel centers to provide drivers an exceptional experience at every stop along their journey.”

Last year, the company opened 10 new travel centers and welcomed more than 20 dealer locations to its network. The new stores were conveniently located along major routes in key markets for travelers and professional drivers, including Yucca and Ash Fork, AZ; Colton and Rialto, CA; Gallup, NM; McCarran, NV; Edon, OH; Holladay, TN; Odessa, TX; and Wamsutter, WY.

As part of its New Horizons initiative, Pilot Travel Centers LLC has plans to overhaul an additional 75 locations this year for a total of nearly 200 completed remodels since launching the program in 2022. These major enhancements include curb-to-counter makeovers with refreshed restrooms and showers, new kitchens, expanded food and beverage options and updated technology.  

In addition to expanding its travel center network, Pilot Travel Centers LLC is looking to bring more top-of-the-line maintenance and tire services to its trucking customers through its partnership with Southern Tire Mart. Over the next year, the company plans to add more than 30 shops to its travel centers for a total of over 85 locations across the country.

Pilot picks another Berkshire Hathaway executive to lead growing energy division

I n its first major hire since being fully bought by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Pilot Company has picked longtime Berkshire Hathaway Energy executive Gary Hoogeveen to lead its growing energy division.

Hoogeveen was previously CEO of Rocky Mountain Power, a division of Berkshire Hathaway Energy's PacifiCorp. He has held management roles with Berkshire Hathaway since 2000.

As president of Pilot Energy, he will oversee fuel supply chain, asset management, fuel procurement, logistics and transportation and electric energy innovation, the company said.  

Hoogeveen is not the first Berkshire manager to come to Pilot. After Warren Buffett's massive holding company raised its stake in Pilot to a controlling 80% in 2023, it replaced the CEO and CFO with Berkshire managers .

Pilot CEO Adam Wright and CFO Joe Lillo had each spent over 20 years leading subsidiaries of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, itself a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.

"I’ve known Gary for a long time, and he is an experienced and talented leader who will bring a trusted voice and perspective to an important part of our business,” Wright said in a release. “Our energy team will continue to be foundational to our ability to reliably serve customers and navigate the alternative fuels transition.”

Pilot expanded energy business before Berkshire ownership

Pilot, base d in Knoxville , is the largest North American truck stop chain with more than 870 locations in 44 states and six Canadian provinces. It also operates the third largest fuel tanker fleet in North America, supplying around 14 billion gallons of fuel each year.

Pilot expanded its energy trading business in the years before the Berkshire acquisition, buying assets in crude oil and pipeline operations and recruiting fuel traders. After Berkshire bought a controlling stake in 2023, Pilot cut 15 employees from its energy trading team, Reuters reported . The company said it would continue to grow its energy division.

“As a leader in energy, Pilot understands we have a responsibility to help move the industry forward while continuing to optimize traditional fuel supply, which is core to our business,” Hoogeveen said in a release. “The potential for positive impact and innovation at this company is incredible and so is the talent."

At Rocky Mountain Power, Hoogeveen supported a $4 billion new nuclear reactor in Wyoming , set to be built by Bill Gates' company TerraPower near a retiring coal plant.

Hoogeveen replaces Brad Jenkins, who left Pilot in January.

Berkshire Hathaway bought Pilot from the Haslam family in three parts for a total $13.56 billion :

• 38.6% for $2.76 billion in 2017
• 41.4% for $8.2 billion in 2023
• 20% for $2.6 billion in 2024

Starting this year, Haslam family had an annual 60-day window beginning Jan. 1 to sell its remaining 20% to Berkshire Hathaway. After a dispute over the price of the final stake , the Haslams took the first chance to exit the company in a sale announced Jan. 16.
