Family Visit Visa

Requirements:

• Original passport valid for no less than six (6) months, with at least two (2) successive empty visa pages.
• To fill your online application and make a visa payment, please log on to  https://visa.mofa.gov.sa .  ( Guideline for Enjaz )  Health insurance must be purchased from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Options for local health insurance providers will appear upon processing your Enjaz form.
• A visa referral note: indicating number and date of visa, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs or either of its branches in Jeddah or Dammam.
• Proof of relationship between applicant and inviting party in, along with proof of relationship between applicants themselves, if any.
• Minors (under 18 years) travelling alone, or with one parent, must submit a notarized letter in Arabic or English signed by a parent or a legal guardian.
• For non-U.S. citizens, copy of green card or document confirming legal residence in the U.S.

Book an Etimad Appointment For a Saudi Visa

The first step in the visa process is securing an Etimad appointment. Here’s a straightforward guide on how to book your Etimad appointment easily.

Step 1: Visit the Tasheer Online Platform

• Visit: https://vc.tasheer.com/
• Select your country.

Step 2: Schedule an Appointment

• Select your Nationality
• Select Visa category
• Select the type of Saudi visa you are applying for, such as a work visa, family visit visa, or Umrah visa.                                                                                                             
• After selecting, an authentication prompt will appear, featuring an empty box that requires you to confirm you are not a robot. Click on the checkbox to proceed.
• After completing the verification, you will encounter a disclaimer and a consent section. To proceed further, mark the checkbox in the consent section and press Continue.
• After that, you will be redirected to the terms and conditions page. To continue, you must accept these terms.

Step 3: Enter Visa Details.

You will now be directed to a visa details page. Here, you will choose whether the visa is for an individual or a family. 

Step 4: Enter sponsor details

• Invitation/preapproval number (visa number) 
• Sponsor ID ( iqama number ).

Step 5: Fill out the Etimad Appointment form

Input your personal and passport information.

Step 6: Select Your Appointment Date

When booking your Etimad appointment, this page offers several options:

Appointment Date: Here, you can select the date you plan to visit the nearest Etimad center. You will also see a list of cities where Etimad centers are located.

Appointment Category: You can choose between two categories – “ Normal ” and “ Lounge .” The Etimad fee varies depending on your category, with “Normal” being more budget-friendly than ” Lounge. “

To make the right choices :

Pick the Etimad center closest to your location.

Once you’ve selected the center, pick a convenient date for your visit. You can scroll through available dates to find the one that suits you best.

How to Find Your Etimad Appointment Letter

Obtaining your Etimad appointment letter is essential for your visit to the Etimad center. Here’s how:

Method 1: Directly From the Etimad System:

Once your Etimad appointment procedure is complete, the system will provide you with the appointment letter containing all the essential details.

You have two options:

• Click on the print icon at the top right of the page to print the letter.
• Click on the save button, located next to the print option, to save the letter

Method 2: Via the Tasheer Portal:

• Visit the Tasheer portal .
• Choose your country.
• Click on “Appointment” and then “Reprint Letter.”
• Enter either the Appointment Reference Number or the Passport Number of the Applicant.
• Add the Applicant’s date of birth and complete the captcha.
• Click “Submit” to access your appointment letter. Remember, it’s password-protected, with the main Applicant’s passport number as the password for future access.

Your Etimad Appointment’s Unique Reference Number:

Upon completing the appointment, Etimad issues a 10-digit unique reference number. This reference number, a combination of letters and numbers, serves various purposes, including tracking visa stamping status, appointment letter printing, and appointment rescheduling. 

To find your reference number, look at your appointment letter below the barcode, as Etimad centers use it to access your data and begin the visa process and biometric verification.

How To Check Your Etimad Appointment Status

To verify the status of your Etimad appointment, follow these steps:

• Visit the Tasheer website .
• On the homepage, click “Track Status.”
• Enter your “Appointment Reference Number” or “Visa Number.”
• Provide your Date of Birth.
• Click “Get Details.”

Once you complete these steps, you’ll receive a confirmation message with your appointment date and time. This ensures that your appointment has been successfully secured.

How to Reschedule Your Etimad Appointment

If you need to change your appointment date, Etimad allows rescheduling. 

• Navigate to “Appointment” and choose “Reschedule.”
• Enter one of the following details:
• Appointment Reference Number
• Passport Number
• Complete the captcha.
• Click “Submit.”
• Select a new date and time for your appointment.
• Click “Confirm and Book.”

A pop-up window will appear. To finalize your Etimad appointment rescheduling, click “Confirm.” After successfully rescheduling your appointment, the subsequent screen will confirm the modification with a message.

Do I Need Visa for Saudi Arabia?

The short answer is yes, you do. Like many other countries in Asia such as Cambodia or Thailand, KSA needs the citizens of most countries in the world to come with a visa. And now that we are talking about it, getting a Cambodia visa or visa for Thailand is much simpler than a visa for KSA.

There are four countries whose citizens don’t need a visa for Saudi Arabia. Yep, you heard that right. People from these countries can enter with their ID cards. It’s like their mini Schengen zone.

• United Arab Emirates

Saudi Arabia Visa Types

Depending on teh purpose of your stay in the KSA, different Saudi visa types are available. Some of them can be applied online and some of them can only be obtained in a KSA consulate.

1. Saudi Arabia eVisa

Citizens of 51 countries/territories can obtain eVisas online or on arrival to Saudi Arabia. The KSA eVisa comes with a validity of 90 days.

Here are the countries whose citizens can get eVisa for Saudi Arabia. You can apply for a Saudi eVisa at the official website of Saudi Ministry of Tourism.

An eVisa can be granted for tourism, family visit or business purposes.

2. Saudi Arabia Tourist Visa

If you are not eligible to get an eVisa or visa on arrival for Saudi Arabia, you can get a visa from an embassy of KSA. The Saudi Arabia tourist visa will allow you to be in KSA for sightseeing and tourism purpose only.

3. Family Visit Visa for Saudi Arabia

A family visit visa for Saudi Arabia can be issued to foreigners who want to visit a family member in KSA.

To be eligible for this, you need to be a first line relative such as spouse, parents, children of the Saudi citizen.

You can apply Family Visit Visa online if you are from one of 51 countries eligible for eVisa or in a KSA embassy.

3. Saudi Arabia Business Visa

Foreign visitors wanting to visit KSA for business purposes such as meetings, trainings, business deals etc. can obtain a Saudi Arabi business visa.

4. Saudi Arabia Umrah Visa/Hajj Visa

Muslim pilgrims from all over the world can obtain a Umrah visa for Saudi Arabia free of charge at the Embassies or Consulates of Saudi Arabia.

If you are eligible for a Saudi Arabia eVisa, you can also use it to enter the Kingdom to perform Hajj/Umrah.

5. Saudi Arabia Work Visa

A Saudi Arabia work visa or employment visa can be issued to foreigners who will be gainfully employed in KSA. For this you need to have a job offer from an employer in Saudi Arabia.

Your employer has to procure a Saudi work permit for you, and then only you can apply for the Saudi employment visa in a Saudi embassy or consulate.

And once you receive the Saudi Work Visa and you enter the KSA, you also need to apply for a Residence Permit from the Ministry of Labor in KSA.

6. Student Visa for Saudi Arabia

If you want to study Arabic in the KSA or any other thing, you would need to get a Saudi student visa. In order to get it, you first need to be accepted in an accredited institute or university in the KSA first.

Then your university has to apply at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authorization for the Saudi Student Visa. Once your visa is authorized, you can apply for a Saudi study visa at a consulate of the KSA.

7. Saudi Transit Visa

Citizens of many countries who need to fly to a third country en route to Saudi Arabia and are not visa exempt for the KSA, can get a Saudi transit visa.

But you don’t need a transit visa if

• You have a confirmed onward flight ticket a third country within 12 hours, and you don’t leave the international transit area of the airport.
• You are traveling via Dammam (DMM), Jeddah (JED) or Riyadh (RUH) international airport.
• You have a valid visa or residence permit or are visa-free for your final destination.

How to Apply Saudi Arabia Visa Online?

The only KSA visa that you can apply online is the Saudi eVisa, and that too if you are eligible for it. You can apply for it on the official website of Saudi Arabia .

Saudi Arabia Embassy Visa: How to Apply?

If you can’t get the Saudi visa online, you need to apply for KSA visa at a Saudi embassy in your country or any other country where you are a legal resident.

And it goes without saying that apart from the eVisa, any other visa like work visa or study visa can only be obtained from an embassy of Saudi Arabia.

And not to forget that different Embassies or Consulates always have their own way of doing things. And when it comes to Saudi Visa, most of them use authorized agencies for visa approvals.

However, Israeli citizens are barred from visiting Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia Visa for US Citizens

US citizens can get an eVisa for Saudi Arabia as well as a visa on arrival if they want to go to the KSA for tourism, sports, leisure or business purposes.

But other visas such as Saudi work visa or student visa can be obtained through the Saudi embassy in Washington DC only.

Family Visit Visa Saudi Arabia 2023 | Updated Requirements and Process

Visa information and guidelines.

• Family Visit Visa is a short term visit visa issued to family members and relatives of residents and people working in Saudi Arabia.
• Electronic Waqala (Visa slip)
• Passport copy of the sponsor (first & last page) with spouse name amended on the passport and original and photocopy of birth certificate attested for children (if applicable) is required.
• Polio & MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) Vaccinations are mandatory for all visitors travelling to Saudi on Visit Visas.

• Copy of pre-approval for family visit permit issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saudi Arabia.
• Proof of relationship (e.g. marriage certificate for married ones, and birth certificate for children).

• A Service fee is levied on each visa application submitted at the Etimad Visa Service Centre. This is a non- refundable fee and will be levied even on applicants who are exempted from paying the Visa or Enjaz fees.
• Visa Fees, Enjaz IT Fees & Medical Fees are collected on behalf of Saudi MoFA.
• Fees are subject to change as per exchange rate. If there is a change in fees at the date of appointment then the difference in fees will be collected in the center.
• The above visa fees, does not apply for American Nationals applying under a visit visa category.
• If applicant selects ‘any’ fee as already paid, they have to come with proof of payment at the time of appointment in the center.

Mode of Payments

Step 1. Schedule an appointment on the website ( Here ) by entering your details

Step 2. Print an appointment letter and visit the Visa Service Centre bringing all the documents along with passport on the appointment date.

*NOTE: – VSC Service fee will not be refunded for cancellation or no show applicants. – Rescheduling has to be done at least 48 hours prior to your initial appointment.

About Enjaz Registration

Enjaz registration is mandatory for entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  The Enjaz registration process will be completed by the Visa Service Center staff for the applicant.  Applicant must acknowledge the correctness of the information before signing the Enjaz form.

Steps for Application

• The necessary documents must be obtained by the applicant prior to submission of visa application.
• Visa application can thereafter be submitted by the applicant at the Visa Service Center
• Schedule an appointment for Application submission with the Etimad Visa Service Centre. Note: Scheduling is not required if Applicants choose different packages
• Carry the documents required on the day of the appointment, to the Etimad Visa Service Centre for verification
• Submit your documents and provide your Biometrics information at the Etimad Visa Service Centre.

Processing Time

For applications received in the same city as the Mission, the documents are sent to the Mission on the next working day and for applications received at the VSC different from the city of the Mission, the documents reach the Mission in 2 working days. The likely processing time for a Saudi Arabian visa will depend on the completeness and accuracy of the documents provided by the applicant. Etimad takes no responsibility on the accuracy and completeness of the documentation. We recommend that you check the status of your application through the link provided below.

Photograph Specification 

The photograph must be:

• 2 x 2 inches in size
• Not more than 06 months old
• Coloured with plain white background
• Full face view of the applicant, facing the camera directly- Side or angled views are not accepted
• Identical, where more than 01 photograph is required to be submitted
• On good quality paper

The photograph must not:

• Be torn, creased or marked
• Be trimmed or cut down from a larger photo to the size of the photograph size requirement detailed above
• Have any writing on the front or back

Procedure for Collection of Passport

If you have submitted your passport to the Visa Service Centre for processing, you may visit the Status of Application link at any time post submission to check the status of your application. After the application is processed and a decision has been made on the visa by the Mission, the passport is returned to the Visa Service Centre for delivery to the applicant.

If you have opted for the SMS service while scheduling your appointment or submitting your application at the Visa Service Centre, you will additionally receive SMS updates on the status of your application.

To collect your passport:

• Visit the Visa Service Centre Reception at the appropriate timing for Passport Collection. Check the timing for your center in the Visa Service Center section of this website.
• Please bring along the original Invoice- cum- Receipt provided to you at the time of submission of your application
• If a representative or travel agent is collecting your Passport, they are required to carry an authorization letter signed by you in addition to the original Invoice cum Receipt. You may download the format of the Authorization letter from the  Download forms  section
• On presenting the above documents, you will be directed to the Delivery section of the Visa Service Centre to collect your passport
• If you have opted for the Courier service while scheduling your appointment or submitting your application at the Visa Service Centre, your passport will be delivered to the address provided by you during the submission process

Please note that if your Passport has not been collected within 30 days from the Visa Service Centre and/ or has been returned after 02 unsuccessful attempts by the Courier Company of delivering the passport at the address provided, your Passport will be returned to the Mission.

Security Regulations

Only applicants will be admitted to the visa service center, with the exception of children (below 16 years) who should be accompanied by a responsible adult and elderly applicants (above 60 years), caretakers of applicants with physical disability and interpreters for the hearing impaired.

Due to security reasons the following items will not be permitted inside the Visa Service Centre or stored in the premises. Other items may be prohibited based on the discretion of security staff:

• All battery operated or electronic gadgets such as cameras, audio / video cassettes, compact discs, MP3’s, floppies, laptops, or portable music players
• All bags such as travel bags, back packs, briefcases, suitcases, leather, jute or cloth bags and zip folders. Only a plastic bag containing your application related papers would be permitted.
• Sealed envelopes or packages.
• Any inflammable item such as matchboxes / lighters / fuel etc.
• Any sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail filers.
• Weapon or weapon like objects or explosive material of any kind.

Note: There is no facility at the Visa Service Centre to store prohibited items. Applicants are requested to make alternate arrangements to safeguard their belongings.

For security reasons applicants may be subjected to physical frisking. Handheld/Archway metal detectors are safe for all including pregnant women and heart patients with cardiac pacemakers. Applicants are requested to cooperate and in case of serious concerns, contact the Visa Service Centre manager.

How to apply for permanent family visa in Saudi Arabia?

You can apply for a permanent family visa in Saudi Arabia either online or by filling out an Istiqdam form, paying the fee, and submitting all the required documents. Here is the procedure.

Eligibility Criteria

If an expatriate meets the following criteria, he can apply for a permanent family visa in Saudi Arabia.

• The iqama validity should not be less than 3 months at the time of applying for a permanent family visa.
• You need to have an acceptable profession .
• The visa cannot be applied for sons above the age of 18 years.
• The visa can be applied for only one wife at a time.
• You cannot apply for a permanent family visa for your mother or father (parents).
• The minimum salary on the GOSI Certificate requirement for a permanent family visa in Saudi Arabia: SR 3,500. 

Pay the fee

The fee for a permanent family visa in Saudi Arabia as of 2023 is SR 2,000. If you are a government employee, there is no fee for this visa.

• How to pay for the permanent family visa?

The following message will appear on your screen if you don’t pay the fee.

• You haven’t paid the Istiqdam Family Visa application fee. Kindly pay the fee to proceed.

Apply for a permanent family visa online

The online application for the permanent family visa is available to people with a few selected professions only.

As per our experience, expatriates with the following professions have been able to get visas through an online application. If you have a different profession, you can still try your luck as it costs nothing.

• Doctors registered with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
• Engineers registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers.
• Accountants and Auditors registered with the SOCPA.

Log in to your account and click on the “My Services” tab. https://www.absher.sa/ .

On the next screen, click on “Expatriates Services” out of several options given.

In the next step to apply for the permanent family visa online in KSA, you will have to click on the “ New Family Visa Application ” after reading the instructions.

In the next step, a new page will appear containing your full details including Full Name, Iqama Number, Passport No., Passport Expiry Date, Religion, Mobile Number, Nationality, Iqama Expiry Date, Passport Issue Date, Passport Issue Place, and Profession on your Iqama.  It will also be containing information about your sponsor.

Just make sure that the details fetched by the MOI System are correct and click on the tab “Apply for Family Visa”.

If you are eligible to apply for a permanent family visa online, this application form will appear on your computer screen. You will have to fill the details such as;

• Amount of Salary in SAR.
• Level of Education.
• Date of receiving the highest level of education and;
• Major subjects studied.

After filling out this information, you will have to add the name of the dependents, passport number, age, religion, relationship with you, and Port of Boarding.

• Port of Boarding means the city in which your family will stamp the visa on their passport.
• In case the second and third name of the dependent is not available, you just need to write “-” in the second and third name.
• The name should be entered as per the passport.

Post Application Process

• After applying, the Absher system will give you the option to print the Family Visa Recruitment Form containing an order number on top of it.
• You will submit this Family Visa Recruitment Form to the HR of your company.
• The company will open the Chamber of Commerce website, choose التصديق الوثائق authenticate the application, and submit it.

• Now the status in your Absher account will also be updated to “ Has Been Approved “.
• Download that approved document from Absher and send it to your home country for further processing.

Reasons behind the rejection of the online application

“Your application cannot be processed because it does not fulfill Istiqdam e-service business rules.”

In case, your profession is not eligible to apply for a permanent family visa, the system will ask you to visit the Istiqdam office with the following message. 

If this message appears, it means that your employer’s commercial registration, chamber of commerce, or Maktab Amal account has expired. 

Apply for permanent family visa through Istiqdam

The second way to apply for a permanent family visa in Saudi Arabia applicable in 2023 is through the Istiqdam.

• First of all, you need to book an Istiqdam appointment  in the same city whose chamber of commerce has attested your documents.

Required Documents

The following documents are required to be submitted to the Istiqdam to apply for a permanent family visa in KSA as per the latest update in 2023 . 

• Istiqdam Form for a permanent family visa with the company seal & authorized signature. 
• Iqama Copy.
• A copy of the Saudi visa stamped on your passport.
• Passport copy of all visa applicants.
• Attested Degree certificate from Saudi Embassy and MOFA matching your iqama profession + Arabic translation.
• Attested Marriage Certificate from Saudi Embassy and MOFA + Arabic translation.
• Birth Certificates of children attested from Saudi Embassy and MOFA + Arabic translation.
• Final Exit visa copy – if they ever had an Iqama before.
• Salary Certificate ( sample ). The letter needs to be stamped by the Chamber of Commerce .
• GOSI Certificate mentioning your salary in GOSI return.
• Professional certification for doctors , engineers , technicians , accountants , and auditors . 
• Commercial Registration certificate of company you are working in.

Visit the Istiqdam

Arrange all the required documents to apply for a permanent family visa in KSA in a file and visit the Istiqdam office at the time of the appointment. 

• If you are living in Jeddah, you need to go to Istiqdam Jawazat Office situated in Rehab District.

Yellow Slip

After around 30 minutes, you will be called again at the window and if everything goes fine, you are given a yellow slip.

• Make sure that the names on the Yellow Slip are correct.
• If any information in the yellow slip is not correct, you can go back to Istiqdam within 3 working days to make any changes.
• The validity of the Yellow Slip or the permanent family visa issued by the Istiqdam is 1 Hijri Year i.e. 354 or 355 days from the date it is issued. It means that now you need to process the visa in your country within 1 Hijri year.

After almost two weeks of getting the visa, you can hire an agent in your home country to get the visa stamped on your passport.

If a baby is born after the permanent family visa is issued from Saudi Arabia, there is no need to modify it. Just submit the newborn baby’s documents to your agent along with the mother’s passport, and the Saudi Embassy will stamp it.

Cancel Permanent Family Visa

In case you change your mind to bring your family to Saudi Arabia, you can always cancel the permanent family visa before it is stamped on the passport and get a refund of SR 2,000.

Required documents

• Letter from your sponsor addressed to the Jawazat officer mentioning the reason you need to cancel your permanent family visa. This letter needs to be authenticated by the Chamber of Commerce as well. 
• The Original Iqama and along with a copy.
• The Original passport along with a copy.
• The original Yellow Slip or copy of the visa issued by Istiqdam.

Now you need to visit the same Istiqdam office that you visited at the time of applying for the permanent family visa.

• They would give you a form to fill out. If you don’t know Arabic, you can seek help from someone who knows it or takes it out of the building and gets it filled by some agents for SR 15.
• Submit the form along with all the above-mentioned documents to the visa officer and he will cancel your permanent family visa.
• The visa fee of SR 2,000 will be fully refunded to the same account which was used to pay it initially.
• In the case of one of our readers, it took him around 1.5 months to get the refund of the permanent family visa.
