Rolling Loud has partnered with superstar artist Rod Wave for the “Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour Presented by Rolling Loud.” Spanning 20+ dates, the “SoulFly Tour” brings the Rolling Loud experience to cities across the country.

Kicking off in August, the “SoulFly Tour” is merely the first tour promoted by Rolling Loud Presents to be announced. Tickets for “Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour” go on sale starting Friday, June 18th at 10am.

The announcement of Rolling Loud Presents comes hot on the heels of the return of Rolling Loud New York 2021 . Occurring October 28th-30th at Citi Field in Queens, the festival will offer headlining performances by J. Cole , Travis Scott, and 50 Cent , and features a lineup packed with superstars and NYC legends.

Rod Wave Announces Fall Tour, Kicking Off Rolling Loud's New Concert Promotions Venture

Rolling Loud has announced its new concert promotions venture Rolling Loud Presents with the announcement of the Rolling Loud Presents Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour.

Rolling Loud has revealed its new concert promotions venture with the announcement of Rod Wave ’s forthcoming tour in support of his latest album SoulFly .

Rolling Loud Presents Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour kicks off August 27 in Houston and runs through October 23 where it will wrap in Seattle. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (June 18) at  SoulFlyTour.com .

The tour arrives amid a breakout year for the 22-year-old St. Petersburg rapper, who scored his first career No. 1 album in April when  SoulFly  debuted atop the Billboard 200. Wave’s third studio album earned 130,000 equivalent album units, 126,000 of which came from streaming. At the time, it marked the biggest streaming week of the year for an R&B/hip-hop release.

Wave’s SoulFly Tour marks the beginning of Rolling Loud’s new concert promotions venture “Rolling Loud Presents.” 

In partnership with Live Nation , Rolling Loud looks to position itself as a nationwide promoter, overseeing the promotion of 20-plus tours through the end of 2021 and beyond. 

“We came into the game producing shows in Florida in 2010, so we really cut our teeth in touring,” Tariq Cherif, co-founder of Rolling Loud, told Billboard . “We’ve built Rolling Loud into a worldwide brand and it felt like the right time to expand our reach from our flagship festivals to nationwide tours.”

Rolling Loud expects a prolific 2021, with its  Miami  festival headlined by A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott and Post Malone kicking off July 23-25, followed by Rolling Loud NYC October 28-30 and Rolling Loud California  set for December 10-12 in Los Angeles.

Hip-hop megafestival Rolling Loud has announced its concert promotions venture, aptly titled “Rolling Loud Productions,” and is kicking it off by announcing a full theater/amphitheatre tour by Rod Wave . NoCap, Rubi Rose, OMN Twee, and DJ Five Venoms will join the show as support.

The "Rolling Loud Presents Rod Wave: SoulFly Tour" kicks off in August and will include a performance in Cincinnati, OH at The Andrew J Brady Music Center on Monday, September 27 . The tour will run through Oct. 19 at the Hollywood Palladium (followed by Rolling Loud New York (October) and Rolling Loud California (December).

While a new venture for Rolling Loud, the festival's Miami-based founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif have been booking hip hop since the early 2010s, coming up in the club scene before going big with the Rolling Loud concept that now takes place on both U.S. coasts and has spread to other continents. The duo continues to show its ability to thrive in multiple types of environments, with its Loud Stream virtual events attracting millions of viewers during COVID, with regular original content and truly live performances adding to the buzz.

Florida-based hip-hop artist Rod Wave had a breakout 2020, with agent and MAC founder Andrew Lieber (who also represents superstar DaBaby) in January predicting "Rod Wave is (...) going to be a spectacular touring artist and his fanbase is spectacular. ... What he’s doing on the ticket side, I don’t think any new artist is touching him."

St. Petersburg’s Rod Wave sets U.S. tour dates, including Tampa concert

Fresh off his first No. 1 album, SoulFly , St. Petersburg-born Rod Wave announced this week that he’s headed out on his biggest tour to date, including a stop close to home in Tampa.

The singer and rapper will play the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Sept. 11 as part of a U.S. tour stopping in 36 cities this summer and fall.

The SoulFly Tour will kick off in Miami, where Rod Wave is set to play the Rolling Loud festival on July 25. Other Florida dates include Jacksonville’s Daily’s Place on Sept. 9 and Ithink Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on Sept. 10.

Tickets for the Tampa concert, and all other dates, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster and livenation.com .

Tampa is the closest Rod Wave will get to a hometown concert on the upcoming tour. He was set to play Jannus Live in downtown St. Petersburg in February, but that show was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. He last played Tampa in late December 2020, performing in the parking lot of the Cuban Club in Ybor City.

The new tour will see the 22-year-old star headlining the largest venues he’s played yet in his career.

SoulFly , Rod Wave’s third studio album, premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard chart after its March 26 release, displacing Justin Bieber from the top spot. His previous album, Pray 4 Love , released in April 2020, went to No. 2.

The singer, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was born and raised in St. Petersburg. He graduated from Lakewood High School, where he played football.

Green began his music career when he was still a student in St. Petersburg. In 2020, he told Billboard that he struggled to figure out what he wanted to do before music came into his life.

He also recounted the details of his first live performance, saying “it was in a strip club on a school night. I had a show, $500. ... It was 20 minutes away from my city, so it was a bunch of people from my city in there. And they was just singing, word for word. After that, he booked me every week.”

Rod Wave didn’t have to sing one word during his headlining performance. In support of his chart-topping SoulFly album, the St. Petersburg rep has embarked on a 36-city tour to flex the range of his pain-filled melodies. Backed by sold-out dates and a mushrooming fanbase that’s itching to be back outside, Rod Wave’s vulnerability has proven to be a means of catharsis for his supporters. There’s healing that comes from sharing pain. This emotional experience (on wax) is what allows Rod Wave to transcend feelings beyond natural sound, using his croons to reflect truth. 

On September 3rd, the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre became sacred ground for anyone under the sound of music. The lines were long. The weather was nice. And yet, there was an intensifying feeling in the atmosphere that a sigh of relief was imminent. It’s hard to put into words, but social interaction is an essential part of our mental health. The SoulFly tour was an escape from reality, a well-needed distraction from the ongoing pandemic. 

In addition to Rod Wave’s commanding performance, fans were able to experience the musical stylings of Rubi Rose – 2021 XXL Freshman – and NoCap , who’s arguably considered a treasure trove in rap by today’s standards. Rubi’s high-energy display was championed by a tandem of backup dancers that had a vested interest in showmanship more than anything. Beyond the synchronized cavorting, Rubi’s set featured an intermediate twerk session and some of her most notable singles, “Big Mouth,” “Hit Yo Dance,” and she even recited her verse on Asian Doll’s “Nunnadet Shit” remix. 

For NoCap, the stage became a canvas for his imagination, offloading double entendres and his signature didactic flow. You would think his music served as a call to action the way fans were reciting his song lyrics word-for-word, verbatim. Surprisingly, Rod Wave and NoCap’s ear for music are one in the same: they both speak on life through an introspective lens that channels a palpable sense of relatability.

Throughout the show, there was never a dull moment or break in energy. Rod Wave did a phenomenal job at ensuring that all 5,000+ patrons were treated with consideration and respect for spending their hard earned dollars on tickets. He even managed to fit in time for a few selfies using fans’ phones. Beyond Rod’s selfless actions, what stood out the most to me during his performance was his willingness to deliver music from his entire catalog. Essentially, Rod Wave rewarded the people with a three in one package, performing fan favorite cuts from Ghetto Gospel , Pray 4 Love and SoulFly .

Ari Lennox Blasts Rod Wave For Not Defending Her From 'Evil' Tour Treatment

Ari Lennox has called out Rod Wave for not coming to her defense after she experienced “evil” and “racist” treatment while opening for him on tour.

The Dreamville singer was reacting to a video of Flo Milli flipping out after being hit with a shoe from the crowd while performing on Gunna ‘s Bittersweet Tour in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend.

“Flo Milli I’m sorry this happened to you,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, lending support to the 24-year-old rapper. “You are a beautiful and incredibly talented woman. Some of these people can be so damn cruel.”

Lennox then revisited her own traumatic time on Rod Wave’s 2023 Nostalgia Tour, which culminated in her being pelted with a bottle from the audience during a show , and called out the SoulFly star for failing to speak up for her.

“Maybe I could’ve gotten over some of Rod Wave’s evil, racist and demonic fans, but what made it even worse is Rod saying nothing in my defense. Privately or publicly,” she said. “The only reason we met was because we ran into each in a Hotel Lobby after constant efforts of me trying to share my gratefulness for the opportunity.

“I never had issues with fans being violent or evil towards me while opening up for legendary singers and legendary hip hop acts. Those were some of the best tours of my life and really taught me how to sing better. I’m use[d] to men rarely defending me publicly, but it was a triggering experiencing nonetheless.”

After acknowledging that her “abandonment issues” means she “take[s] rejection a lot harder than the usual person,” the R&B star continued: “I was so blessed to be protected and spoiled by Dreamville on those tours. I didn’t know how easy I had it. And I’m also aware that half of the mess I end up in I’m solely responsible for. Doesn’t make the disrespect feel good or valid.

“To protect my peace I will never open up for a soul again. STOP disrespecting openers. STOP creating excuses as to why these openers get violated on stage ‘maybe she shouldn’t have been on that tour’? This makes the disrespect and violence to Black women valid? Headliners, protect your openers.”

Ari Lennox previously opened up about the ordeal in January , describing it as “lonely” and “heavy on my soul.”

“I was never comfortable. I just remember every show, just racing to get off stage, racing to get through my set,” she admitted during a vulnerable Instagram Live broadcast.

She also clarified that her issues weren’t with Rod Wave himself but his fans.

“I started trying to communicate with the audience and then I realized they were getting angry at me affirming them. You’re getting angry that I’m affirming you? This is not my crowd. And it’ll never be. And that’s alright,” she continued.

“It was tough and it was heavy on my soul, especially the day when the bottle happened because that side of the stage, like, I felt the energy … It was just all darkness — that was literally the energy that was coming from the left side.”

Elsewhere, she added: “I was on that stage and would people would have shit on their screens saying ‘Next,’ and I can’t deal with shit like that … What is this aggression? You’re that pissed?

“It was a lot for two and a half months, like, getting my wardrobe stolen. It was just a very hard two and a half fucking months. Very lonely too. But I thought it would be a good idea.”

Rod Wave has yet to publicly address Lennox’s comments.
