The unholy union of Adalita, Phil Jamieson, Tex Perkins and Tim Rogers will also perform a whole ‘nother set of Stones classics.

More The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones Revue – an all-star tribute band comprising Aussie legends Adalita ( Magic Dirt ), Phil Jamieson ( Grinspoon ), Tex Perkins and Tim Rogers ( You Am I , The Hard-Ons , about 600 other iconic bands) – have announced an eight-date tour to pay homage to the classic 1971 album Sticky Fingers .

The ultimate Stones celebration will see the band play two sets every night, first rolling through Sticky Fingers in its entirety, then smashing out a full suite of other hits from the Rolling Stones sprawling discography. Highlights noted in a press release included Satisfaction , Jumping Jack Flash , Gimme Shelter , Start Me Up , Honky Tonk Woman and Sympathy For The Devil .

The tour will begin at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul on Saturday June 29, followed by an appearance at the Big Red Bash in Birdsville, Queensland on Wednesday July 3 (though it should be noted Adalita will be sitting this one out). From there, the band will hit stages in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney and Newcastle. To wrap it all up, The Rolling Stones Revue will perform at the Mundi Mundi Bash in Broken Hill on Friday August 16.

Tickets to all of the headline shows go on sale at 10am local time next Tuesday (March 12), following a presale that kicks off at the same time this Friday. You can access the presale by signing up to the band’s database , or bookmark this link for the general sale. Otherwise, tickets for both the Big Red Bash and Mundi Mundi Bash can be found here .

In a press statement, Adalita said of the upcoming tour: “I’m so thrilled to once again be joining my good mates to celebrate this incredibly iconic band I cannot wait to get my teeth into this one, it’s going to be an amazing show!”

Rogers shared the sentiment, albeit in his own unique fashion: “Them bloody longhaired Rolled Stones have ruined it for all us good hearted folks with morals and underwear. What can a tender boy do, huh? Can’t beat ‘em, gonna join ‘em. This malarkey happening again. Shadoobie.”

Brissy Riverstage was unreal, so good, played so many new n old songs, with so many awesome tracks, always gonna be some I missed. Few Fav's were gold snafu, yours to keep, laser head with an amazing brilliant light show. Absolute rippa moment was when Dylan and Paddy played front n centre acoustic, the unreleased track; cyclone, that song has everyone's hearts! Felt so lucky to hear it live, busting with joy. Freddy in his undies, all the boys and thier stage presence, there for the fun. Will never forget, Dylan screaming "we're gonna keep playing till they kick us off the stage!" Melted my heart. Stickys love music, many stories to tell, fans love them. Much love always!

One of the best atmospheres at a concert - everyone there was a huge fan and waiting in the standing area before they came on, me and my mate were chatting to loads of people, exchanging social medias, generally just getting hyped for the performance. The opening act were great and got the whole crowd dancing, then when sticky came on everyone lost their minds. The set, the music, the mosh, the sweat - if u wanna lose ur mind to some great music with hundreds of other people, this is the place u wanna be.

There was heavy moshing at the beginning, collective dancing to their lower tempo songs like Rum Rage, heart-wrenching vocals and guitar solos, and a finish of How to Fly.

STICKY FINGERS DROP LONG-AWAITED 5TH STUDIO ALBUM, LEKKERBOY AND ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE TOUR

  • “Lekkerboy”  is the perfect reflection of the journey Sticky Fingers have been on thus far. Released on April 20 th and written over a 2.5-year span and a pandemic, it’s the first time in thirteen years that the band were isolated from each other, living in different places across the country. The band eventually reconnected to make some of their best work to date.
  •  “Even when the world stops our story keeps unravelling and we’re good at capturing that story. Lekkerboy is open to your own interpretation and the poetry is left for the taking...But for me this album is raw and already feels nostalgic - It’s big and full of heart.”
  • Now that Lekkerboy has been released – after a 6-month rollout with 8 singles and video clips leading into the release, the band is excited to deliver the album live to fans all over the world. Catch Sticky Fingers across Australia this July for the first time in years. This is the long-awaited return the fans have been waiting for and tickets will go quick.

Sticky Fingers 2022 Australia Tour

After releasing their new album ‘Lekkerboy’ in June, Aussie rockers Sticky Fingers kicked off a national tour, with 99 Acme StagePAR 100 fixtures lighting up their sold out performances across Australia.

Ei Productions delivered once again a fantastic production, supplying a full lighting package, together with trussing and rigging. The show was designed and operated by Bryce Mace.

The Acme StagePAR fixtures were spread apart on the truss behind the band, providing that true rock & roll look for their energetic indie rock performance.

About Sticky Fingers

Bluesfest Sticky Fingers

Bluesfest Director Peter Noble Defends Booking Sticky Fingers for 2023 Event

By Alex Gallagher

Byron Bay Bluesfest director Peter Noble has defended the festival’s decision to book controversial Sydney band Sticky Fingers for the festival’s 2023 edition.

Sticky Fingers were included as part of the sixth lineup announcement for this year’s edition of Bluesfest, alongside Zambian hip hop artist Sampa the Great and a tribute to the late Uncle Archie Roach organised in association with the Archie Roach Foundation.

Sticky Fingers Were Included in the Sixth Artist Announcement for Bluesfest 2023

“Sticky Fingers, the bad boys of Australian music, currently on their sell-out UK Tour, will be playing one of their all-too-rare shows in Australia. They have only played a handful in the last five years, and Bluesfest is happy to welcome them back.” – Peter Noble. pic.twitter.com/OI4AsFycio — Jules LeFevre (@jules_lefevre) February 14, 2023

Sticky Fingers’ place on the bill sparked backlash on social media, with many questioning the decision to book a band that has a history of alleged incidents of racist, sexist and transphobic conduct.

Noble made a passing acknowledgement of that history in a statement alongside the announcement, describing Sticky Fingers as “the bad boys of Australian music” and saying Bluesfest was “happy to welcome them back.”

Among those to criticise the booking were Camp Cope drummer Sarah Thompson (who tweeted “bluesfest go fuck yourself”) and musician Jaguar Jonze . “Disgusting and sickening to see abusive and violent behaviour glamorised into a bad boy image,” Jonze – real name Deena Lynch – tweeted.

“Victims of their violent, racist, abusive, [misogynistic] behaviour have to carry the pain from their actions and yet we’re expected to just continually forgive even though no accountability was taken and ‘some time’ has passed? Cultural change starts with those in power.”

In the comments below Bluesfest’s Instagram post announcing the new lineup additions, one user asked if the Archie Roach Foundation were aware that they were going to be announced at the same time as “a band who verbally abused Thelma Plum .”

Sticky Fingers frontman Dylan Frost was, in 2016, accused of being physically threatening to Gamilaraay singer-songwriter Plum at a pub in Sydney. Shortly afterwards, the band announced they were going on hiatus , and Frost posted a statement on Facebook in which he apologised to those affected by his “behaviour.” The singer disclosed an alcohol addiction and diagnoses for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and announced he would be entering into rehabilitation and therapy.

Responding to the comment on Instagram, the official Bluesfest account replied: “The incident was in 2016. The singer from the band had an incident for which he apologised. He is a diagnosed Bipolar Schizophrenic. after almost 7 years… [without] a recurrence. Isn’t it time to forgive, and let him get on with his life.”

Noble reiterated this sentiment in comments made to the Sydney Morning Herald . “I’m aware the singer is a diagnosed bipolar schizophrenic, and I am aware that, whatever happened in 2016, he’s had years of no incidents while he’s been managing his condition,” the festival director said.

“At what point are we going to show compassion and forgiveness through his efforts at growth? When do we forgive people with a mental health issue at attempting to move forward in life?” Noble added that “everybody has a right to be forgiven and to show who they can be”, and said Frost was “attempting to do that.”

He continued: “Our community is one of inclusiveness… and this man deserves an opportunity. Give him a chance. That’s what I’m trying to do.”

Sticky Fingers returned from their self-imposed hiatus in March of 2018 . The following month, the band were slammed after giving an interview on triple j’s Hack where Frost commented that “boys will be boys” and “shit happens.” In May of that year, Frost was reportedly ejected from a Sydney pub after allegedly verbally harassing and threatening to fight a transgender woman.

The same year, Newcastle festival THIS THAT were criticised for booking Sticky Fingers on the festival’s 2018 lineup. As a result, Sticky Fingers later withdrew from the bill .

In 2019, Frost and Sticky Fingers bandmate Paddy Cornwall were involved in a physical altercation with each another outside a licensed venue in Marrickville. In 2021, Cornwall received an 18-month prison sentence – served in the community – while Frost entered a rehabilitation facility.

It’s not the first time Noble – who was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2016 – has drawn criticism for defending his Bluesfest booking choices. The first lineup announcement for Bluesfest’s 2019 event was slammed for only including four acts featuring female performers. Noble complained on Facebook that critics were “SJWs” (social justice warriors) and compared denouncing the event as “the sort of thing that worked well in Nazi Germany. ” Noble later walked back those comments.
