Maybe you can take Jim’s place on the radio, dear Doctor? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhKob4eAvLI&ab_channel=RogerWaters

This is the bootleg I used to give everyone who was interested in early Floyd. It usually blew their minds. In one case, my friend scared his daughter while listening in his truck. “What is THIS daddy? It’s scary!” I haven’t listened in many years. Thanks so much Doc!

This is great! Thanks for your great work on these. Love it!

Wow, this was great to hear. I probably haven’t heard it for 17 years! I love the intro/outro tidbit. (“Isn’t this where…?”) Thanks again, Doc.

Fantastic! Thanks

This has always been one of my favourites and in fact one of the first bootlegs I ever bought on a CD in a record store in Prague back in 2001. It was the version with the radio speaker with a very calm voice. I remember listening to it on my Sony Discman on the busride at night back to Denmark. It was just perfect! 🙂

FloydPodcast – The Man And The Journey

The Doc is back this month with a new podcast! Featuring Pink Floyd’s conceptual piece “The Man And The Journey” taken from The Early Years boxset (1969 Dramatiz/ation set).

Here’s the latest and this time, a revisit… a spotlight on Pink Floyd’s first conceptual piece, The Man And The Journey. It was a pivotal time for Pink Floyd and you can clearly hear the direction they’re starting to go down, so I figured I’d dust this recording off a little.

Someone released this one into the wild back in the late 90’s, but it wasn’t officially released until 2016. From the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, 17. September 1969.

the man and the journey tour

FLOYD’s first concept work, but a phantom masterpiece “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” that was not recorded in the studio. An upgrade master is born in the symbolic sound board album. It will be released as a press 2CD that will permanently leave the design of the much-talked-about “Prof Stoned”.

– The highest peak update board of the first concept work “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” “Amsterdam performance on September 17, 1969” is engraved on this work. It is the stereo sound board recording. This show is just a legend. In the first place, “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is a concept work that reconstructs the songs from “Dawn Whistler” to “More” into two parts, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY”. It was not officially recorded at that time, and was performed only on the 1969 “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY Tour”. The sound board of the 1969 Amsterdam performance has served as an “official substitute” for such a phantom work. FM radio broadcasting has created a number of existing groups, literally continuing to convey phantom masterpieces as a substitute for studio works. When it comes to such a large standard, it is destined to undergo repeated upgrades over its long history (similar to official works). In 2016, the box “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972” was officially realized, but even after that, “masters beyond the official” have been discovered. In particular, the pre-FM master tape of the broadcasting station “VPRO” changed the standard at once. It is a master tape that goes back to the original broadcast master LP, and the “original sound” itself, which has never been converted into a physical groove, shocked collectors around the world. Until today, the highest peak was our “UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969”, but this work is a new version that surpasses that peak.

● Vivid sound of another dimension by “Prof Stoned” The new master was the much-talked-about “Prof Stoned”. The Beatles remix board has been a big topic, but in fact, PINK FLOYD is also a defensive range. The other day, “THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN 2022 REMIXED” was very well received. A true researcher with a deep knowledge of FLOYD, even working on official works. This work is “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” by such “Prof Stoned”. The upgrades for this work are both quantitative and qualitative. First, quantity. It’s 20 seconds longer than the previous record, UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969. The increasing part is at the beginning, and the traditional Dutch DJ is longer. “UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969” was also converted to CD without leaking the pre-FM master, but the increased part this time is restored from a different air check master. I am reprinting a historical DJ that was not even a pre-FM master. “However, the extra 20 seconds is nothing more than a bonus.” The true dreadfulness of this work is the sound that penetrates the whole story. This is already an eye-opening splendor. The basic version is not the official version, but the same “pre-FM master” as before, but its vividness is completely different. The vividness is completely different from the chirping of the birds at the beginning of the opening “Daybreak”, and the sharpness is wonderful. And the acoustic guitar arpeggio that flows there is beautiful one note at a time, and it emerges three-dimensionally. The point here is that there is no feeling of forced processing. The sound of the acoustic guitar is so fine that each string is visible, and the sound is so delicate that you can feel the vibration of the body. In fact, it has been digitally remastered, but it is beautiful without being crushed to the subtleties, so it is as natural as it is unprocessed. Even after that, the sound that was reborn with each note clearly does not stagnate. “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is also important for modest sound effects, and each one draws a landscape. Therefore, the “three-dimensional and delicate” sound of this work is directly connected to the reality of the concept world itself. It is not just a dimension of “a masterpiece with better sound”, but “improving the expressiveness of the masterpiece itself”. Pink Floyd’s first masterpiece, embarking on the concept road, is depicted with such an upgraded sound. As mentioned above, it consists of two parts, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY”, and the previous repertoire has been rearranged and played. I think that there are many people who know the contents of the show, but even for the first time, let’s organize the contents here.

★ Part 1: THE MAN (DISC 1) 1. Introduction 2. Daybreak → band arrangement “Granchester Ranch” 3. Work → Freeform song with percussion and vibraphone 4. This is a shocking soundboard album that further updates the highest peak of the official surpassing master. The upgrade feeling of this work is in the so-called official world high-quality CD, that is, the dimension like “Mobile Fidelity” and “Nimbus Supercut”. The shocking “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” shines with the skill of “Prof Stoned,” who even “Dawn Whistler” was reborn. Please enjoy it anytime, forever with the permanent preservation press 2CD.

★ Stereo sound board recording of “September 17, 1969 Amsterdam performance”. This is a product mastered by “Prof Stoned” from the pre-FM master tape of “VPRO”, which has a reputation for “more than official”. The Dutch DJ at the beginning is also 20 seconds longer, and the longest and highest peak update board with a significantly more vivid sound. It is a shocking cultural heritage album that pushed Floyd’s first concept work “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” to a higher level.

What Happened to Blades Brown’s Father? His Fierce Cancer Battle Revealed

the man and the journey tour

Who is the new 16-year-old kid on the block? In recent days, Miles Russell and Kris Kim have emerged as two prominent junior golfers who have made history in the golf world. Following suit now is Blades Brown from Tennessee. The 16-year-old made the cut at the Myrtle Beach Classic on Friday, and though it was not as historical, he was able to grab something better. Making his father proud!

Blades’s father, Parke Brown, has been his biggest supporter on the greens, and interestingly, he is also the one who steered him to the sport. Much of the junior golfer’s success can be attributed to his father, who, despite struggling with cancer, didn’t stop guiding Brown and inspired him to be a better golfer on and off the course.

Had it not been for Parke, Blades Brown would never have played golf

Blades Brown comes from an athletic background. His mother, Rhonda Blades Brown, was a point guard for Vanderbilt University and used to play in the WNBA. She was even the first player to make a three-pointer in WNBA history. Initially, following in his mother’s footsteps, the youngster began playing basketball in his freshman year of high school. However, as he entered his sophomore year, his father, Parke Brown, insisted that he instead take up golf.

Blades did exactly that, and he found his love for the sport. And now, he’s even gone on to grab the spotlight by becoming one of the youngest to make the cut on the Tour. Even though it’s all sunshine and rainbows now, his journey here has been far from it! In 2022, his father was diagnosed with hairy cell leukemia, and the doctor gave him only a year to live.

Fast forward a year and a half to today, though, and Parke Brown is more than just around. He’s healthy and kicking, and is extremely illustrious to see his son make it on the PGA Tour. “I’m as big as the ocean out there. I’m so happy, Proud of him,” he said to the press after round 2. His bought with cancer has undoubtedly been more than tough. However, after all the ups and downs, seeing his son shoot a 4 under 67 on Friday at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club to tie for 48 and make the cut at the Myrtle Beach Classic has been thrilling.

🥹 Post round @BladesBrown2026 ’s dad was very thankful to see his son enjoy success this week at @MyrtleBeachCl : “A year and a half ago I had a year left to live…” “Lord gave me some more time.” 🙏 pic.twitter.com/tddJqR08vL — NUCLR GOLF (@NUCLRGOLF) May 11, 2024

Even though it was a hard battle for Parke to lift himself up after the rounds of chemotherapy and cheer for his son, he did so without a single complaint. This strength has even inspired Blades to be a better golfer and make his family proud!

Blades uses his father’s journey as “fuel”

In December 2022, Parke and his son were not sure if he would be alive by 2024 or if he would witness his son play on the PGA Tour. After all, the doctors were skeptical, as were the Brown family. But the old man had faith. “Lord, give me some more time,” he had prayed back then, so that he’d be able to be there for his son even through sickness. His pleas were clearly answered.

Parke’s fight to stick around and help guide Blades inspired the youngster to play even better. In the interview post-round, the 16-year-old opened up about how seeing his father’s cancer battle had boosted his performance on the course. “I just use it as fuel. Having him here is just awesome. Like he could not be here right now; that’s crazy to think about.”

Recalling the time when he qualified for the U.S. Amateur and eventually broke Bobby Jones’ record as the youngest medalist in U.S. Amateur history, Blades stated that Parke was on cloud nine, despite his diagnosis and condition. “I remember when I qualified, he posted. My son is going to the U.S. Amateur! What dad can say that after thinking that they were going to die?”

Parke’s constant support is undoubtedly pure motivation for Blades Brown. And the 16-year-old will no doubt use it to try and play even better at the remaining two rounds of the Myrtle Beach Classic this week.

Maybe Man Tour Concert Review: AJR creates an immersive experience with current tour

When AJR stopped in OKC and brought their Maybe Man Tour to the Paycom Center on May 4, 2024,

roughly 8.1k people were in attendance in the nearly sold-out crowd . It was the 20th stop on the band's 43-stop US tour. Dean Lewis opened and played roughly a 45-minute set and he surprised fans with both a Taylor Swift cover of "Cruel Summer" and a Goo Goo Dolls cover of "Iris," along with his biggest hits such as "How Do I Say Goodbye" and "Be Alright."

After a quick 30-minute set change and what felt like an endless wave that the crowd gladly kept going for an extended period, it was finally showtime. Before the band took the stage, the final song that played over the PA was "Swimming Pools" by Kendrick Lamar. This is somewhat of an easter egg, as the song is referenced on a song on the trio's tracks on their latest record Maybe Man .

AJR Maybe Man Tour Setlist:

  • "Maybe Man"
  • "Yes, I'm a Mess"
  • "I Won't/Birthday Party Mashup"
  • "The DJ is Crying for Help"
  • "God is Really Real"
  • "The Good Part"
  • "Touchy Feely Fool"
  • "Turning Out Trilogy"
  • "World's Smallest Violin"
  • "Steve's Going to London"
  • "Burn the House Down"
  • "Way Less Sad"
  • "Don't Throw Out My Legos"
  • "Weak/Jack's Speech/2085"

This was an excellent setlist that flowed well and allowed for time for the band to point people out in the crowd which has become a staple at AJR concerts. Prior to the tour kicking off, Culturess attempted to predict the setlist, you can check out what songs we got right here .

Let's Involve the Crowd

During their Maybe Man Tour AJR has taken getting the crowd involved to new heights, as they go into the stands and play two songs while sitting with the audience. During Ryan Met's trilogy performance of "Turning Out I, II, and III" the biggest surprise of the night occurred, as security began rushing into my section. No, there was no problem, the band was simply preparing to play their viral hit "World's Smallest Violin" and "Steve's Going to London."

Final Thoughts

Attending an AJR concert is more than a show, it is an immersive experience. It is one of the most scripted, yet unscripted spectacles that can be witnessed in live music. If you are on the fence about attending one of their shows this summer, now is the perfect time to act as tickets to select shows are only $25 for Live Nation's concert week 2024.

These dates and deals will not last long, it could even be two or three seconds until they are gone. Overall AJR puts on an unforgettable show, and it is one you will not want to miss out on so just go because it will leave you feeling way less sad. The next stop on the Maybe Man tour is scheduled for May 9, 2024, in Tampa Florida.

BroadwayWorld has learned that a production of Meredith Willson 's The Music Man will tour across the United States beginning January 2026. The new production will be produced by Big League Productions.

Big League Productions is currently touring The Cher Show, and will also tour The Addams Family in 2025. Other recent national tours include Little Women and A Christmas Story: The Musical.

In a statement exclusively to BroadwayWorld, Executive Producer Daniel Sher said "2026 marks the 250th birthday of the USA and we are thrilled to bring this slice of classic Americana coast to coast starting in January of 2026. Boasting a traditional theatrically robust production, the show’s creative team will revisit the material with modern eyes in realizing a lush Mid-West landscape fully in bloom."

Booking is by Tracey McFarland at Broadway & Beyond Theatricals (BBT).

The Music Man was most recently revived on Broadway for the 2021/2022 season starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster . The production played 358 regular and 46 preview performances

Meredith Willson 's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957. The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

France’s Freedom Flame arrives in UK as part of D-Day thank-you tour

The flame normally resides on the tomb of the unknown soldier under the arc de triomphe in paris..

France’s Freedom Flame is displayed during a ceremony at Portsmouth International Port

France’s Freedom Flame has arrived in the UK on its way to the US as part of a tour to thank the two countries for their key roles on D-Day.

The flame, which normally resides on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc De Triomphe in Paris, has left its home for the first time in its 101-year history to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings.

It travelled across the Channel aboard a Brittany Ferries ship and was accompanied into Portsmouth, Hampshire, on Tuesday evening by classic vessels HMS Medusa, HSL 102 and MGB 81 as well as two Royal Navy P2000 patrol boats and the French schooner Etoile.

The flame is carried in a procession at Portsmouth after its journey by ferry from France

After arriving into port, it was greeted by a 20-person guard of honour made up of French and UK personnel as well as the Royal Marines Corps of Drums who performed a short procession to the terminal for a reception hosted by Portsmouth International Port, the Royal Navy, Royal British Legion and Brittany Ferries.

A brief ceremony was then held involving naval and civic officials, including Portsmouth Naval Base commander Commodore John Voyce, Portsmouth City Council’s Deputy Lord Mayor Gerald Vernon-Jackson, Brittany Ferries chief executive Christophe Mathieu and Helen Patton, granddaughter of General Patton.

As it departed, the Royal Marines Corps of Drums performed a traditional Beating Retreat ceremony before the flame was taken to the D-Day Story museum in Southsea where it will be on public display before continuing its journey to Arlington, Virginia.

Councillor Vernon-Jackson said: “It is a huge privilege for the city to be the first place to welcome the flame and pay respects with a poignant tribute.

“It is important to learn lessons from the past, the value of countries coming together and for the next generation to play a part remembering momentous events and the impact that remains to this day.”

Cdr Voyce said: “The flame we welcome tonight is a symbol of liberty for all across the globe and it is poignant that the first time it has come to the UK is on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of France and mainland Europe that began on D-Day.

The Flamme de la Liberte will next travel to Arlington, Virginia, in the United States

“It is so important that the service and sacrifice made on that day, and all the days our nations have fought oppression, is remembered and honoured.

“On behalf of the UK military, veterans and our families, I welcome the La Flamme de la Liberte, and all that it signifies, to Portsmouth before it journeys across the Atlantic – itself the backdrop to acts of sheer bravery and sacrifice during World War Two – to rest at the hallowed ground of Arlington National Cemetery in Washington.”

Mr Mathieu said: “It is a great honour for Brittany Ferries to have carried the Freedom Flame across the Channel, a symbol of great respect and humblest thanks to all brave veterans who crossed the channel nearly 80 years ago.

“Today, those arriving in Normandy by sea are faced with sweeping golden sands, full of happy families making joyful memories. But those very memories are thanks to freedoms we must never take for granted and the sacrifices we must never forget.”

Jonas Brothers add more than 50 dates to The Tour: 'We want MORE!'

the man and the journey tour

The Jonas Brothers – and their fans – want more. More tour, that is.

The brother trio – Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas – announced a new batch of dates Thursday for their upcoming The Tour, which kicks off in New York with two sold-out nights at Yankee Stadium Aug. 12 and 13, supporting their sixth release, "The Album." The band is adding more than 50 new shows to the North American leg of the tour and across Europe, Australia and New Zealand, totaling more than 90 shows across 20 countries in their largest tour to date.

"You heard us… we want MORE! We added additional dates for THE TOUR in Australia, Europe and the US," the Jonas Brothers shared on Instagram alongside a cheeky video of the three of them excited about wanting "more."

Another sibling group, pop-soul act Lawrence led by Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, will open all the North American shows.

Ahead of the tour, the Jonas Brothers unpeeled the layers behind their albums at midtown Manhattan's Marquis Theater for their  five-night concert residency on Broadway .

Fans might also get an emotional moment between the brothers on tour with their ballad "Little Bird," which talks about the importance of a father/daughter relationship and is among their new favorites to perform live.

"It's one of those tunes where you're fighting back tears," Joe Jonas told USA TODAY in a May interview . "It's an emotional tune and we all kind of go, 'OK, here we go' when we see it on the setlist."

"I think it's like a thing where (before) one of us was out on a boat or something and the other was home with kids. There was a clear difference in what our realities are on an everyday basis," Nick Jonas said in the same interview. Now, "there's a better understanding and awareness of where we're all at, and that's totally reflected in the music."
