Tom Cruise Fights For Eternity In The New 'Edge Of Tomorrow' Trailer
Warner Brothers just released the second trailer for the Tom Cruise futuristic time-traveling war film, "Edge of Tomorrow."
Much like the first trailer , we see Cruise's character Lt. Col. Bill Cage reliving the same day over and over again.
The new trailer delves a bit more into Cage's repetitive lifestyle along with his relationship with the mysterious Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) as she tries to turn him into Earth's greatest weapon.
"Edge of Tomorrow" is in theaters June 6.

Here are a few takeaways from the new trailer:
Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) doesn't know why he keeps dying then reliving battles with a futuristic alien race.
It's important that he finds out because it seems that the human race is losing.
Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) tries to train him, but if he fails then they'll have to "start over."
However, repeating the war over and over again may be humanity's only hope.

You can imagine the elevator pitch: “It’s like ‘Groundhog Day,’ but with explosions, mech suits and Tom Cruise.”
That would seem to describe director Doug Liman’s upcoming sci-fi action movie “Edge of Tomorrow,” judging by the new trailer released by Warner Bros. on Tuesday.
Based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s award-winning novel “All You Need Is Kill,” the movie stars Cruise as Lt. Col. Bill Cage, a soldier dropped onto a futuristic battlefield and killed within minutes. To his shock, he then wakes up shortly before the battle, which he relives over and over again in a time loop.

In the trailer, which you can watch above, Cage eventually connects with a sword-wielding war hero played by Emily Blunt, who recognizes his peculiar situation. “Come find me when you wake up,” she says before being engulfed in an explosion.
Cage does so, and begins training under her to try to save the world. From the looks of things, he gets rather adept at maneuvering his mechanical exoskeleton, firing his wrist-mounted cannons and dodging shrapnel and bullets.
Then again, this isn’t the first time Cruise has faced down a futuristic menace, having done so in “War of the Worlds” and “Oblivion,” to name a couple.
In addition to Cruise and Blunt, the film also stars Bill Paxton, Laura Pulver and Jeremy Piven.
“Edge of Tomorrow” opens June 6, in the middle of the action-packed summer movie season.

Trailer Teaser for EDGE OF TOMORROW Starring Tom Cruise; New Trailer to Be Released (Edge of) Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow trailer teaser. Trailer teaser for Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, and Jeremy Piven.
Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow have released a trailer teaser for Edge of Tomorrow . Based off a manga with a superior title ( All You Need Is Kill ), the film stars Tom Cruise as a military officer who is killed within minutes of a doomed combat mission to take down a hive-like alien race. He wakes up and is forced to relive the day over and over again, but it allows him to become a better soldier, and perhaps change his fate thanks to the help of a fellow officer played by Emily Blunt . Or to put it another way: Groundhog Day with mech-suits. I can get on board with that.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer teaser, and come back tomorrow to watch the full trailer. The film also stars Bill Paxton , Laura Pulver , and Jeremy Piven . Edge of Tomorrow opens June 6th.
Here's the official synopsis for Edge of Tomorrow :
The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again… and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

There are no other movie stars like Tom Cruise . And despite his litany of hits across an over 40-year career, there’s no better movie to explain his stardom than 2014’s Edge of Tomorrow .
Director Doug Liman ’s future-set action movie about humanity’s war with robots casts Cruise daringly against type as Cage, a stiff bureaucrat in a suit, terrified, cruel, cowardly , and almost completely incapable… at least, at first. But when he suddenly gets the power to reset to a certain moment in time when he dies (and with a little training from Emily Blunt’s legendary war hero), he slowly begins to learn how to fight, how to lead, and how to win the war. It’s basically Groundhog Day with robots, guns, and giant swords .
But beyond just being an incredibly kickass action movie — which it is — Edge of Tomorrow is also an incredible deconstruction of Cruise as an actor. For years, Cruise’s on-screen MO has been effortless charm and talent. He was a brilliant lawyer who won an impossible case the instant he decided to try in A Few Good Men , he was a pool shark who could beat the pros in The Color of Money , and he was the best pilot at a school full of the best pilots in Top Gun . But Edge of Tomorrow was the first movie to let us in on a secret Cruise would spend the entire decade after exploring: Appearing effortless takes a tremendous amount of work.
Edge of Tomorrow is like a movie made of behind-the-scenes footage. It’s the cinema of grueling, endless hard work, and the incremental improvements determination can get you. Cage dies over and over and over again. His development as a savior of humanity is, like anyone’s development at anything, decidedly nonlinear. Sometimes he makes genuine progress, getting a few feet further into the battlefield before the robots mow him down. Other times, he tries something new and dies faster than he ever has before. But even in those failures, Cruise’s trademark focus comes through — in his tight-lipped sneers or the way he tenses his jaw and narrows his eyes — and we see the improvement building. And slowly, by the end of the movie, Cage looks as effortless in battle as Tom Cruise felt in the ’80s.
And that effort — the hard work and grueling failure — is the real secret to Cruise’s success . Watch any behind-the-scenes footage of his Mission: Impossible movies and it’s impossible not to see little bits and pieces of Cage in there. In fact, a major part of the promotional campaign for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was how many attempts it took for Cruise to nail the stunt where he jumps a motorcycle off a cliff and parachutes away .
Hard work is more than just a part of Cruise’s movies now; it’s baked into why he wants you to see them. He’s way beyond effortless cool now, and we have Edge of Tomorrow to thank for that. Now that he’s in the latter half of his career, Cruise is finally ready to let us know that he’s not just the biggest star in Hollywood, but the hardest-working one, too.
Edge of Tomorrow is streaming on Apple TV Plus, or rentable on Amazon , Apple , and Vudu .

Exciting new wb sci-fi movie is the perfect replacement for tom cruise's $370m sequel i've wanted for 10 years.
Warner Bros has a new sci-fi movie on the horizon that is the perfect replacement for a Tom Cruise sequel that has yet to happen, 10 years later.
- "Mickey 17" is an exciting sci-fi thriller with a star-studded cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, and Mark Ruffalo.
- The film's plot, based on the novel "Mickey7," involves a character who can die repeatedly and return with memories intact.
- "Mickey 17" shares similarities with "Edge of Tomorrow," offering a potential substitute for the long-awaited sequel to Tom Cruise's film.
At the beginning of 2025, Warner Brothers is releasing Mickey 17 , which is not only exciting for its unique concept and star-studded cast, but also because it is the perfect replacement for a sci-fi sequel that is taking more than 10 years to happen. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, Mickey 17 is a sci-fi thriller following Mickey, an "expendable" who goes on a mission to colonize an ice world, however when he unexpectedly dies, his new body forms with almost all his memories intact. Mickey 17's cast includes Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and Thomas Turgoose.
Mickey 17 has a lot going for it, even so far away from its release date. The movie's cast is outstanding , with each actor coming off of huge successes, like Mark Ruffalo's Poor Things, Steven Yeun's Beef, and Robert Pattinson's The Batman. Furthermore, this film is the first for writer and director Bong Joon-ho since his Oscar-winning film, Parasite. However, Mickey 17 is not just strong due to its cast and crew. Its story, based on the 2022 novel "Mickey7," by Edward Ashton, is also something to anticipate, especially because of its striking similarities to another beloved science fiction film .
Bong Joon-Ho Explains Why Mickey 17's Title Is Different From The Sci-Fi Book It's Based On
Wb's mickey 17 sounds similar to tom cruise's edge of tomorrow, both movies use repeated deaths in a sci-fi setting.
Part of the excitement surrounding Mickey 17 is the commonalities it has with Tom Cruise's movie , Edge of Tomorrow. Not only are both movies deeply ingrained in the sci-fi genre, but they also use a fairly similar plot device . Where Mickey 17's main character is an "expendable," which can die repeatedly but return via "human printing," Edge of Tomorrow's Cage enters a time loop which allows him to die and resurrect himself over and over again. Both characters face these horrible circumstances, and yet, it seems that their memories are the key to their stories .
What is especially great about Mickey 17 and Edge of Tomorrow's similarities is that the 2025 movie can be a sort of replacement for the Edge of Tomorrow sequel that still has yet to happen.
Although Edge of Tomorrow 2 was discussed soon after the first movie's release, it has been ten years and a movie still has yet to occur . In this way, Mickey 17 can be a stand-in for what has yet to happen. Mickey 17 can delve into a new yet similar world that, hopefully, can appease the impatient fans of Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow.
Will Edge Of Tomorrow With Tom Cruise Ever Happen?
Edge of tomorrow 2 is still in the works.
Edge of Tomorrow 2 is definitely happening. The movie was jumpstarted in 2015 when Tom Cruise claimed he had a strong idea for a sequel . Director Doug Liman signed on, and since then, has been the film's biggest advocate. From 2016 to 2019, the script went through various rewrites, and was headed toward production when the COVID-19 pandemic hit . Emily Blunt then cast doubt on the film, mentioning its high budget. However, in Janaury 2024, it was revealed that Tom Cruise would be starring in various Warner Brothers movies and Edge of Tomorrow 2 would be one of them.
In 2016, Doug Liman noted that Edge of Tomorrow 2 would be a sequel that is a prequel.
