Destination Must-See's
This enchanting seaside city with boundless culture is home to fabled architecture and a world-class drinking and dining scene. Barcelona's architectural treasures span 2,000-plus years. Towering temple columns, ancient city walls and subterranean stone corridors provide a window into Roman-era Barcino. Fast forward a thousand years to the Middle Ages by taking a stroll through the shadowy lanes of the Gothic quarter, past tranquil plazas and soaring 14th-century cathedrals. In other parts of town bloom the sculptural masterpieces of Modernism, a mix of ingenious and whimsical creations by Gaudí and his Catalan architectural contemporaries for which this city is so well known. Barcelona has also long-inspired artists, including the likes of Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, whose works are in bold display in the city's myriad museums.
The capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain is Seville. Approximately 2,200 years old, the early origins of the city date back to the year 712. It is situated along the Guadalquivir River, which splits the city into two halves. Seville is famous for being the birthplace of the Flamenco dance. It is also known for its culture, monuments, traditions and artistic heritage.
Spain’s capital city sits on the Manzanares River, just northeast of the center of the Iberian Peninsula. It is estimated that the origins of Madrid can be traced back to the 2nd century B.C. Madrid is home to the head of the Spanish government, the Spanish royal family and the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization. Madrid’s influence on politics, education, entertainment, fashion and culture make it one of the world’s major global cities.
The Costa del Sol:
This “Sunny Coast” is the southernmost part of Spain stretching primarily along the calm and warm Mediterranean Sea. Its major province is Málaga, the home of Picasso. To the far west part of the Costa del Sol comes another body of water, the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates the Mediterranean from the Atlantic. In the last province of the Costa del Sol lies the province of Cadiz. These provinces are most known for their golden sandy beaches, fresh Mediterranean seafood and relaxing environments and are especially home to vacationers during the warmer months.
Destination Must-Do's
Guggenheim Museum:
This museum of modern and contemporary art is located in northern Spain. The museum is built alongside the Nervion River, which runs through the city of Bilbao. The museum is one of several belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and features permanent and visiting exhibitions of works by Spanish and international artists. The museum was designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. The museum was inaugurated on October 18, 1997 by King Juan Carlos I of Spain, who was the king of Spain at the time.
La Sagrada Familia:
Meaning the Holy Family, this modern structure is known as the church of the people, built by the people, with the money of the people. While it is not the cathedral of Barcelona, it is widely known due to its unique architecture and phenomenal design initiated by architect Antoni Gaudí. Work on the exploratory church began in 1882 and continue to this day, but with modern technology and the rising number of visitors and donations, the church’s completion date has rapidly become closer. The facades of the church are breathtaking in their intricate and artistic details, all of which were inspired by Gaudí.
The Alhambra:
This stunning palace and fortress complex is located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. The first palace on the site was built in the 11th century. Over the years it developed into a sprawling complex comprised of many structures. It is very well preserved and gives visitors a peek into Moorish culture. The Alhambra is part fortress, part palace, part garden and part government city. Many visitors come to Granada specifically to visit and see the Alhambra.
This was the first capital of Spain located about 43 miles south of Madrid. The history of Toledo dates back to the Roman occupation circa 192 B.C. The old city of Toledo sits atop of a small mountain surrounded on three sides by the Tagus River, and medieval walls on the fourth. From the top of the mountain you can get a 180 degree view of the surrounding landscape.

Due to the influence of its Islamic, Hebrew and Christian occupants, Toledo is known as the city of 3 cultures. We visit the Church of Santo Tome to see the famous El Greco painting “El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz.”.

Tonight, we thought you would like to enjoy dinner on your own. Be sure to ask your tour leader for restaurant suggestions!
THURSDAY : An action-packed day! We will visit Jerez de la Frontera, well known for its wines, horses, and flamenco. We’ve reserved the best seats for you at the Royal Equestrian School “dressage” horse show.
Next, get ready for Bodegas Tradición—a winery producing world-class Sherry. Be careful—it’s strong!
Lucky for us, the vintner has his own, personal fine-art gallery filled with million-dollar Spanish masterpieces—including Picasso’s childhood art. After a light lunch, we drive to Seville, the capital city of the Andalucia Region.
Tonight, we enjoy dinner in our hotel with fine local wines.
FRIDAY : After breakfast, we discover the marvelous city of Seville. We start by viewing Cartuja Island where Christopher Columbus lived while planning his voyage to “India”.
We’ll see Columbus’ ornate tomb inside the Seville Cathedral with its gothic Giralda Bell Tower. You’ll also see the statue of King Ferdinand who defeated the last Islamic rulers in Spain - also in 1492.
To this day, Spaniards argue over the more important figure in their history – Columbus or King Ferdinand? You’ll have to decide for yourself! Via the old Jewish District, we’ll visit the vast Plaza de España built for the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929.
We end our tour with an old-fashioned, 30-minute horse and buggy ride through the center of Seville!
Tonight we will attend an authentic "Flamenco Show" in a real Andalusian "Patio". Dinner and wines will be served during the show. But be careful not to drink too much – you don’t want to end up being part of the show!
SATURDAY : Today, we will spend the afternoon at the Basilippo Olive Oil farm. Spain's olive oil is among the world's best, often referred to as “liquid gold”.
After a light lunch in the olive oil farm, we’re off to the airport for our quick flight to Barcelona. Upon arrival, we’ll go directly to our hotel to enjoy dinner and relaxation.
SUNDAY : It’s time for us to discover the fascinating seaside city of Barcelona.
We’ll visit the Columbus Monument, Plaza Cataluna and the historic buildings along Paseo de Grazia. Then we’ll have the opportunity to see the most visited bullring in Spain, and, Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece, the almost psychedelic Church of the Sagrada Familia.
Our day ends with a visit to the Basilica Santa Maria del Mar in the Gothic Quarter. Tonight, we’ll enjoy our final dinner together in a fine local restaurant with our new travel friends.
Don’t forget to exchange email addresses and make travel plans for the future. How about you all meet again on another Perillo Tour – to Italy or Hawaii!
MONDAY : Today we enjoy more of Gaudi’s amazing work. We visit his Casa Mila’, originally a private mansion, it resembles an undulating pastry made of concrete.
Next, we visit Gaudi’s colorful Park Güell, similar to “Main Street” in Disneyland but created 50 years earlier. We’ll end our visit atop Montjuic Mountain, with the best panoramic views of the city and harbor.
Tonight, you’ll enjoy your final evening on your own. Be sure to visit some last-minute shops for souvenirs!
TUESDAY : Today, we fly home full of happy memories and pictures to show our friends and family. For now, a warm hasta luego!

Posted: May 13, 2024 | Last updated: May 13, 2024
Editor’s Note: The list features only U.S. tours and is updated on a weekly basis. Tours that have already ended have been removed from the list .

They represent a wide-ranging crop of artists who've diversified the Billboard touring charts, according to the year-end Boxscore chart . More and more Spanish-language artists also toured stadiums, as was the case for Fuerza Regida , RBD and Karol G . It's set to follow the hitmaker's World’s Hottest Tour stadium run, which along with his Ultimo Tour del Mundo arena run led to a record-breaking $435 million in tour grosses for Bad Bunny in 2022.
Brzilian superstar Anitta is set to embark on her 2024 Baile Funk Experience Tour. The 20-date global trek includes her first-ever North American leg. Other artists who are set to hit the road next year are Pepe Aguilar , Laura Pausini , Hombres G and Gloria Trevi .

The Drinks Business
United breweries sees profits soar thanks to kingfisher brand.
Heineken’s United Breweries Limited (UBL) has recorded a more than five-fold leap in profit in the January – March period of 2023-24.
The beer business saw net profits rocket to Rs 80.15 crore (£7.7m) and, according to an exchange filing, revenue from operations rose 17% to Rs 4,788.68 crore (£459m) in the last quarter of FY24 compared to Rs 4,081.01 crore (£391m) in the same quarter a year ago.
According to local reports, the premium segment grew 21% in the quarter and the company saw strong growth for Kingfisher Ultra and Kingfisher Ultra Max as the lager brand’s popularity drove premium volume growth across the south and eastern Asia regions.
Speaking about the results, a spokesperson for UBL said: “Volume in Q4 increased 10.9% predominantly driven by south and east regions. We continue to invest behind our brands and capabilities in combination with revenue management and cost initiatives. Investments in CAPEX during the year were Rs 190 crore (£18m), primarily in supply chain initiatives to cater for future growth.”
According to the filing, total expenses rose to Rs 4,705.38 crore (£451m) in the quarter under review from Rs 4,079.32 crore (£391m) in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, net profit for the full fiscal year ended on 31 March 2024 and had risen 33% to Rs 412.59 crore (£40m) compared to Rs 308.10 crore (£30m) in the previous year.
Total income rose 10.49% to Rs 18,453.27 crore (£1.8bn) in FY24 compared to Rs 16,700.52 crore (£1.6bn) in the previous year, the filing stated.
Describing the company’s view and outlook for the future, the beer giant outlined that even though it remains cautious, it was at least “optimistic” for how things will develop from here and noted the business’s strategy taking into account how discernment among drinkers is shaping the way.
The UBL spokesperson added: “Despite some inflationary softening as seen from Q2, volatility will remain. We remain optimistic about the long-term growth potential of the industry, driven by increasing disposable income, favourable demographics and premiumisation.”
Along with the filing, the UBL board also recommended a final dividend of Rs 10 (£0.10) per share of the face of Re 1 for the 2023-24 financial year. The dividend, if approved by shareholders, will be paid on or before 30 August 2024. UBL shares closed 0.96% at Rs 2,001.75 (£19.19) per share on BSE.
Back in March, UBL launched a new beer in India, named Queenfisher , via its Kingfisher brand. The new lager, which was positioned as “a celebration of sisterhood amidst International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, used the slogan “Queen of Good Times” and was priced at INR80 per 500ml can.
In September 2023, UBL appointed Vivek Gupta to lead the firm as its new CEO and managing director , a decision that would see him take on the position for a period of five years.
Heineken has been integrating UBL into its business since its acquisition of the company in July 2021. One of Gupta’s primary roles within the company is to assist in the Kingfisher beer brand to regain its ground and re-assert its premium position within the beer sector.

North Spain Discovery
Our tour guide, Carlos Sanchez, took our trip to the next level. He knew every popular bar, restaurant, and pincho! He was attentive to each person's individual wants and needs throughout the entire trip. Because of him, this was one of the best guided tours I've ever been on!
Discovery of Spain - 10 days
The tour guides were exceptional. Anna and Rafael were extremely knowledgeable and looked out for our group, keeping us safe and well informed. Definitely recommend!!!
Charming Spain - 9 Days
The trip, the itinerary and the guides were very good. The hotels were 4 star except one in Seville. Everyone in that tour had a hard time. The hotel had accepted every person on the tour regardless of whether they had the package for 3 star or 4 star. They had overbook and their rooms had major plumbing and air conditioning situation. Water had flooded few of the rooms including ours. This was tiring and frustrating. Don’t book the hotel in Seville.

Down South, Self-drive
Loved the self-drive tour, gave us the ability to stay on our own schedule. Locations were great with lots to explore in each town as well as along the drive. Ronda and Seville were our favorite! We had the ability to stop while on the road to wine and olive oil taste too, as well as explore Castillo de Almodovar, a beautifully restored castle near Seville where they shot several scenes of Game of Thrones. Location of hotels were good too, easy to get to so you didn't have to drive through some of those difficult narrow one way streets. Only issue was having to pay for parking at some of the hotels, this should have been part of the package. Other than that, it was a great tour!
- Walking Adventure
Must of Andalusia, Self-drive
The tour covers the "Andalusian Trinity" of Seville, Cordoba, and Granada. Accommodations in Seville were lovely, but about 5 k outside town, too far to walk. There was a bus that went to Plaza de Espana. The accommodations in Granada were also far from the center and a bit past their prime but right on the tram and bus lines. The car was brand new and comfortable. The hotel in Seville was luxe. The one in Grenada had seen better days.Cordoba was a nightmare as our visit coincided with the Fiesta de Flores and the streets and parking lots were mobbed. The highlight was the Alhambra in Grandada (not included, book in advance). I did not see any "value added" for booking through tourradar. The next time, I will just reserve the rooms and rent a car myself.

A Taste of Spain: 8 Days
What people love about historical tours in spain.
Everything was great. Really loved it
Before I arrived on this tour I thought my highlights would be Barcelona and San Sebastian but honestly, I enjoyed every moment of the holiday! The food and drink in this region is excellent and relatively cheap compared to the UK. You don't spend much time on the tour at the start in Barcelona or at the end in Madrid so I would recommend booking at least an extra night pre/post tour to be able to both great cities. Pamplona has a nice historical old town with some nice walks. San Sebastian is just the place to go to for foodies but is also a nice place in its own right! Logrono is the capital of the La Rioja region so you know you'll get to taste some good wine. I will definitely be coming back to this region! For the tour overall, I felt that we didn't really need 2 nights in Logrono and could have done with either an extra night in San Sebastian to visit Bilbao or a night in Bilbao itself. And that's taking into account the included evening tour of Logrono and the winery tour activities. Beware the 4hr + coach journey from Logrono to Madrid. Our tour leader, Maria Christina did a great job considering that she had to take over at short notice. She organised all our public transport and organised the optional meals, selecting some very decent restaurants. I definitely think she made the trip more enjoyable! I had great fun on this trip and hopefully have made some good friends for life!

Nearly 40% of money laundering around the world is flowing through London, overseas territories and crown dependencies, the deputy foreign minister has said.
In a speech at the Bright Blue thinktank, Andrew Mitchell said the dirty money was passing through the capital and that "crown dependencies and the overseas territories have not yet done as much as they must do", The Guardian reports.
"If these overseas territories and crown dependencies want to have our king and our flag, then they must also accept our values, which is why we are so intent on ensuring dirty money cannot flow in and from there," he said.
The comments come a month after Mr Mitchell promised to work with the international community to tackle illicit flows of money "through increased transparency of company ownership".
Feel like you've been on hold to the taxman for hours? You're not alone.
Customers spent around seven million hours collectively waiting to speak to HMRC in 2022/23, the spending watchdog has revealed.
That's more than double the time spent waiting in 2019/20, which was around 3.2 million hours.
It's the equivalent of 798 years.
Once answered, calls more than doubled to over 23 minutes in 20022/23, up from just over 11 minutes.
Advisers also answered 22% fewer calls.
HMRC's strategy is to encourage customers to turn to its digital services first - but it is not clear how far and fast digital services will reduce demand for telephone and correspondence services, the National Audit Office said.
And the move to digital services has not eased pressure on traditional services as much as HMRC expected.
Gareth Davies, head of the NAO, said: "HMRC's telephone and correspondence services have been below its target service levels for too long.
"While many of its digital services work well, they have not made enough of a difference to customers, some of whom have been caught in a declining spiral of service pressures and cuts. HMRC has also not achieved planned efficiencies.
"HMRC must allow more time for these services to bed in and understand the difference they make before adjusting staffing levels."
New York has topped the list when it comes to the world's wealthiest cities, with 349,500 millionaires and 60 billionaires.
In its latest report, Henley & Partners found the Big Apple's millionaire population has surged by 48% in the past decade.
And San Francisco came in second place, with 305,700 millionaires and 68 billionaires.
Meanwhile, Tokyo has seen its millionaire population declining by 5% to 298,300 people.
Joe Biden has confirmed he is going to raise the special tariff on electric vehicles coming from China.
The standard US tariff (the amount you have to pay to get goods into a given country) on cars used to stand at 2.5% but then Donald Trump levied an extra 25% tariff on China in 2018.
Now, Mr Biden has gone further and is quadrupling the tariff to 102.5%.
Why is the US doing this?
Our economics and date editor Ed Conway describes the latest move as "one of the biggest issues in economics right now".
He says the move "is partly because the US is worried about competition from China".
China in the past few years has become dominant when it comes to electric cars and their manufacture of the components that go into the vehicles.
But they are not dominant when it comes to electric car imports into the US.
"The US is trying to increase its share but it is going to be difficult," Conway says
"It's only the beginning of a very big saga here and the next question is what about the EU and UK?"
Will it have an impact?
Conway says the new electric vehicle rate "won't affect many goods at all" because the "vast majority of Chinese electric vehicles are going not to America but to Europe and elsewhere", including the UK.
"We're buying loads," he says.

Santander has become the latest bank to offer a £175 switching offer on their current accounts, joining First Direct, which relaunched its incentive this month.

But existing Santander customers must visit a branch to take advantage of this offer .
To qualify for the First Direct incentive you must:
- Go through the full Current Account Switch Service (Cass) process;
- Transfer a £1,000 balance into the account;
- Switch at least two regular payments;

The chairman and chief executive of JPMorgan has told Sky News he is confident the UK economy will be in safe hands "whoever wins" the election.
Jamie Dimon told Sky's Wilfred Frost that he had met with both Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer and liked that they were both "pro-business".
"Growing the economy is a good thing, and that should benefit everybody," he said.
"Everyone I heard in the Labour and Conservative government are talking about growing the economy, technology, research and development, simplifying regulations and making it easier for people to start and grow businesses.
"Those policies work."
Asked if he was confident the UK economy would be in safe hands no matter who won the election, he replied: "Yeah, I certainly hope so, and we would help whoever wins."
Mr Dimon also said the world "had been through a difficult and weird time".
On the UK specifically, he said: "It's a great country and partner and friend of America."
He said he was "optimistic" about the UK, and said the government should keep investing in "education, work skills and technology".
Here's Mr Dimon's interview in full:
By James Sillars , business news reporter
A solid start to the day for the FTSE 100 despite one of its well known constituents posting a big drop in profits.
The index rose by 0.5% in early dealing to stand at 8,469.
Leading the gainers were industrial and mining stocks.
Among the big names reporting its progress this morning was Burberry.
Its annual results to the end of March showed a 34% fall in operating profits as demand for luxury slowed in the second half.
The company's chief executive, who is in the process of taking the firm more upmarket, said he expected the current year to remain challenging but with a pick-up in sales weighted to the final six months.
Burberry, nevertheless, awarded a 61p per share dividend which was flat on the previous financial year.
Its shares were down by more than 3%.
Sophie Lund-Yates, lead equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: "Burberry's latest figures leave a lot to be desired, amid slowing demand for luxury... Not only does this highlight the extent of consumer caution across the globe, it also puts a spotlight on some Burberry-specific issues.
"Refreshing the store estate is all well and good, but only if those costs and charges can be recouped by selling the clothes they hold. While Burberry's brand repositioning has come a long way, it’s not yet sharp enough to slice through to the core of the even more resilient end of the luxury market."
She added: "Slowing trends are being seen across the board in the sector, so these weaker results aren't a total bolt from the blue. The question now will be how quickly demand picks up, and that of course is in the hands of the economy... Burberry faces challenges, but it remains a strong heritage brand, with a lot of the right strategic ideas."
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has been predicted to provide a £997m boost to the UK economy.
Fans are expected to fork out an average of £848 to see the star on one of her 15 tour dates.
That's according to data from Barclays, which has added up the total spending of the Swifties lucky enough to get a ticket.
After tickets, fans will spend the most on accommodation at around £121, with other notable costs including £111 on travel and £56 on an outfit.
Those visiting London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff for the concert are expected to spend £79 each on official merchandise, as well as £59 on a pre-show meal.
The average amount spent on an Eras Tour ticket is £206, yet for 14% of fans, including those who purchased VIP ticket packages with premium seating and exclusive merchandise, the total exceeds £400.
Dr Peter Brooks, chief behavioural scientist at Barclays, said fans of "cultural icons" like Swift have a "powerful" spending power.
"Whoever came up with the phrase 'money can't buy happiness' clearly wasn't a Swiftie," he said.
"When it comes to cultural icons like Taylor Swift - like we saw with Elvis and Beatlemania in the 50s and 60s - supporters have such a strong connection to the artist and to the rest of the fandom that the desire to spend becomes even more powerful.
"For non-fans, £848 may seem like an enormous amount to splash out on a concert - but for Eras Tour ticketholders, every pound they spend is an investment in the memories they'll create."
Every Wednesday we get Michelin chefs to pick their favourite Cheap Eats where they live and when they cook at home. This week we speak to Andy Beynon, chef patron of Behind in London - which was awarded a Michelin star after being open for just 20 days.
Hi Andy, c an you tell us your favourite places in London where you can get a meal for two for less than £40?
I love Lahore Kebab House in Whitechapel. It's family run and I've been going there for about 15 years. I used to go with my dad - we'd get a couple of lagers from the shop next door, then tuck into lamb chops, tarka daal, the Peshwari naan, which is always cooked fresh on the tandoor, and all the dips on the menu.
You can't beat a "That Spicy D" from Dom's Subs . There's just something about that burnt chilli mayo and schiacciata piccante. It's my favourite lunch to have on the go, and totally worth the mess.
Umut 2000 in Dalston is my go-to for a kebab fix. They also do this amazing chargrilled lamb mince on a bed of tomato sauce with yoghurt and clarified butter. So good.
What's your go-to cheap meal at home?
I don't cook at home often, but when I do it's usually a big pot of spicy daal. It's super easy to make and keeps well in the fridge or the freezer. My secret ingredient for making the perfect daal is condensed milk - simply add a spoonful at the end to balance all of the spice.
We've spoken to lots of top chefs and bloggers - check out their cheap eats from around the country here...
Vinted has apologised for a tech issue that has left its sellers facing long delays to withdraw their cash.
Users have been complaining over the past few weeks about their balance not updating quickly enough after being told they had been paid...
We reached out to platform about the issue - it said its payment service provider Mangopay was aware of the problem and was "in the process of resolving" affected cases.
It said a "very small number" of Vinted members have experienced an issue with funds being received by banks after payouts had been initiated.
"The large majority of payouts are successfully completed every day," it added.
"Vinted is in constant contact with Mangopay to resolve any cases brought to our attention, however, there may be a further delay as a result, for which we apologise.
"Many cases have already been resolved and we are working as quickly as we can to help resolve the remaining cases."
Mangopay processes and stores transactions made through Vinted and then pays the cash into users' bank accounts.
It told us part of its legal obligations require it to verify users' identities for the payment process to be successful.
"Our team works to carry out this verification process as quickly as possible so that users can continue using their accounts as normal," it said.
"Marketplaces and platforms often have complex payment needs and as a regulated financial institution, we take our compliance, due diligence processes and regulatory obligations very seriously."
However, it added that from "time to time" the process can be delayed, which means it needs to withhold funds for a certain amount of time, or it "may experience issues with the payout process".
"We apologise for any delays in receiving payments caused as a result of this and are working with Vinted to resolve each case as quickly as possible," it added.
