The Ultimate Beaver Creek Weekend Travel Guide

Ah, Beaver Creek. Think: freshly baked cookies delivered by chefs in white suits the moment you descend from the mountain. Warm lift seats, heated sidewalks, and conveniently-placed escalators so that you don’t have to go up stairs in your ski boots. It all sounds like a dream, right?! Well, that is exactly what is in store for you at this exclusive Colorado ski resort town. The level of service and luxury is unparalleled at Beaver Creek – culminating in their motto, “not exactly roughing it.” It goes without saying that this is my kind of ski town!

Perched high in the Rocky Mountains, Beaver Creek is home to some of the highest slopes in the country, meaning there is typically always quality snow from mid-November to mid-April. Because it is one of the furthest resorts from Denver, it also tends to be less crowded (locals often opt for closer options like Keystone or Breckinridge). The slopes are evenly divided between beginner, intermediate, and expert-level runs, and snowboarders are welcome, too!

The Scene at Beaver Creek

beaver creek travel blog

Geared towards luxury travelers and families, Beaver Creek is more about a boujee winter experience and less about the club scene (like what you’d find in Aspen). So, if you’re looking for all-out nightlife, this might not be the right choice for you.

On the other hand, if you enjoy a sleigh ride to a white tablecloth dinner or taking in the views as you sip a perfectly crafted cocktail, all of your dreams are about to come true.

Getting to Beaver Creek

There are two ways to get to Beaver Creek: flying directly into the smaller, and therefore more pricey, Eagle Country (Vail) airport, or flying into Denver International and renting a car. The drive is around two hours depending on traffic. Once you get to Beaver Creek, you won’t really need your car as most things are walkable.

Where to Stay in Beaver Creek

The ritz-carlton bachelor gulch.

beaver creek travel blog

Slightly more secluded on the Bachelor Gulch side of the mountain lies the Ritz-Carlton . Staying here will truly level up your experience. With a four-star spa and fitness center, ski concierge, in-house ski school, and a premier sushi restaurant, The Ritz-Carlton is 22,000 square feet of pure luxury. As you enjoy s’mores and happy hour by the fire each night, it’s safe to say you will feel like you are in a winter wonderland.

The Osprey at Beaver Creek

A stunning mountain lodge that boasts luxury private properties. Located steps from the Centennial Lift, you’ll be centrally located to all the best aprĂ©s and dinner spots! The concierge will take care of everything from setting up rides, to dinner reservations, to drying off and storing your skis each day.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Located right at the base of Gore Mountain in the heart of Beaver Creek Village, the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa is a great ski-in/ski-out option. You can easily grab a drink at 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill, but it’s Antler Hall that will become your favorite for apres ski indulgences.

Where to Eat in Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek Village is the heart of the resort with five-star dining, luxurious hotels, a performing arts center, and great shopping – all centered around a fun outdoor ice rink.

beaver creek travel blog

The Chophouse

Located right at the bottom of the main lift, the Chophouse is great for both lunch and apres. On a sunny afternoon, enjoy a drink on their patio while you watch the remaining skiers glide down the mountain. At night, they offer an upscale steakhouse dining experience in their main dining room. With key lime pie martinis, freshly shucked oysters, and the best loaded nachos I’ve had in a while, you won’t leave disappointed.

Allie’s Cabin

Allie’s Cabin is one of Beaver Creek’s three famed on-mountain fine dining cabins. To eat at Allie’s, you have to be a Beaver Creek Club member (or be friends with one). It’s the “it” spot to be seen at for midday lunch on the mountain. With great cocktails, incredible food, and even better views, this spot can be compared to Aspen’s “Cloud Nine.”

Dusty Boots Saloon

Sometimes, all you really want after a long day on the mountain is a good ole burger and fries with a cold one. Get the Dusty Boot’s signature “Fat Burger” with crunchy onion rings, or for something on the healthier side, go with their tuna poke power bowl.

Treat yourself to a date night at this modern American bistro located at the gorgeous Chateau Hotel, where they use all locally sourced and foraged ingredients. From local Froi Gras and coffee roasted beets to delicate Dover Sole and Valrhona chocolate souffle, it’s a full-on dining experience. If you have a group, rent out one of their signature yurts and enjoy the chef’s tailored tasting menu under the stars.

Yurt Dining Splendido

Beano’s Cabin

Take an open-air sleigh ride (pulled by a snowcat) to the top of the mountain for an incredible five-course meal. Prices start at $140 per person, but the splurge is worth it! Upon arrival, you unbundle and swap out your snow boots for slippers. Executive Chef Bill Greenwood takes “locally sourced” to a whole new level by harvesting daily from Beano’s garden and foraging in the mountains for greens, berries, mushrooms, and roots. You do not want to miss his exquisite Berkshire pork porterhouse with heirloom antebellum grits, honey-glazed carrots, and apple preserves!

For a nice night out in the village, head to Toscanini , right next to the ice rink. This restaurant boasts innovative Italian flare, yet has plenty of gluten-free options. Tapas are served from 3 pm to 8 pm, and it is reservations only for the dining room. Ask to talk to the on-site sommelier for recommendations on the perfect wine pairing for your meal, selected from their extensive Italian wine list.

Blue Moose Pizza

Craving a pizza night while you rest those sore legs? Blue Moose is the go-to around here. You can’t go wrong with their signature flying pig pizza or their mushroom, truffle oil, and goat cheese “autumn” pie.

From blind caviar tastings and sashimi to fish tacos and live lobster, this is the go-to spot for seafood. Plus, by Beaver Creek’s standards, it’s reasonably priced, too!

Where to Aprés in Beaver Creek

While this is a more family-oriented resort area compared to Breckenridge or Aspen, there are still several spots where you can find the apres crowd.

Coyote Cafe

A local dive where you’ll be sure to find all the powder junkies gathering for post-shred margaritas (this is the spot to catch a game as well).

C-Bar at The Chop House

Right at the base of the mountain, across from the Centennial Lift, you can sit out on the Patio of C-Bar and sip a key lime martini as you watch the last of the skiers roll into town from the mountain.

beaver creek travel blog

The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch

Get ritzy at The Ritz. Hop off the mountain from the Bachelor Gulch side, and you’ll almost immediately be on The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch Mountainside Terrace, where you can visit Daniel’s Bar & Grill. There is typically live music or a DJ performing outside, so sit back, relax, and ritz TF out. You could even stay for dinner at their acclaimed restaurant WYLD (if you can get in).

beaver creek travel blog

The Ritz Carlton Patio

Powder 8 Kitchen

Everyone loves an oven-roasted pizza paired with a cold drink. Featuring a massive patio and central fire pit, there’s no better spot to hang out once the lifts stop running!

With a 3-5 pm happy hour, this is another great spot to snag a small bite and maybe even a matcha green tea cocktail.

beaver creek travel blog

Skiers and snowboarders descend from all over the world to explore the snow-capped Colorado Rockies in the wintertime, flocking to Vail, Breckenridge, and Keystone mountains. But just a little bit further down the I-70 corridor, Beaver Creek is a hidden gem, offering lighter lift lines and a sophisticated, luxurious skiing experience. The resort features terrain to satisfy all levels of skiers, from World Cup downhill racers to beginners, as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding Gore Range mountains.

Day 1: Arrive & Explore Beaver Creek Village

beaver creek ski vacation guide

Beaver Creek lies just outside of Avon, Colorado. Nearby airports include Denver International Airport and Eagle County Airport. Shuttles, such as the Epic Mountain Express, are an easy and convenient way to access the resort to and from the airport. Once at the mountain, free shuttles make it easy to navigate the base areas.

Once settled into your accommodations, take a stroll through Beaver Creek’s Bavarian-style village and enjoy window-shopping at the many small shops and art galleries, all linked by heated walkways and escalators (amenities we are very thankful for when in our ski boots). Fuel up for the week of skiing at one of the area’s 70-plus bars and restaurants, which include multiple five-star options. Italian lovers will enjoy Toscanini, conveniently located in the heart of the village and offering a mouthwatering contemporary menu as well as an impressive and award-winning Italian wine list.

Day 2: Brush off The Cobwebs & Take a Tour of the Mountain

beaver creek travel blog

For your first day on the hill, familiarize yourself with the mountain and enjoy a complimentary guided tour of Beaver Creek. Offered every day at 10 a.m. at the top of the Centennial Express lift, tours are two hours long and are available to intermediate and advanced skiers and riders.

For those ladies who feel like meeting up with some other vacationing women while learning the lay of the land, Beaver Creek offers free Women’s Social Ski Tours. Intermediate female skiers can join the two-hour tours, led by a team of female Ski School Ambassadors, to acquaint themselves with the mountain and meet some fellow skiers. The tour finishes with a Starbucks beverage of your choice. These tours meet at the base of the Centennial Lift at 10:00 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.

Spend the afternoon exploring the front side of the mountain, home to a plethora of green runs to brush up on skiing and boarding skills. The mid-mountain Cinch Express Lift offers access to a handful of runs to keep you busy all day long. Enjoy Lunch at the Spruce Saddle Lodge, which claims an impressive altitude of 10,200 feet! Thrill-seekers should check out the Stone Creek Chutes area for powder, cliffs, and moguls, located just on the resort area boundary.

At the end of the day, reward yourself with a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie distributed daily at the base of the Centennial Lift at 3:00p.m. You’ve earned it.

Day 3: Explore Bachelor Mountain & Sleigh Ride Dinner

beaver creek travel blog

If you’re staying at Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch Mountain and Arrowhead Mountain are easily accessed by a free shuttle or via the mountain lifts, such as Strawberry Park Express Lift. This area is often less crowded and offers a variety of rolling intermediate and beginner terrain. Enjoy lunch on the sunny deck of the Broken Arrow, located at the bottom of the Arrow Bahn Express Lift in the Arrowhead Village. Specializing in American cuisine, the restaurant claims to be home to “Beaver Creek’s Best Bloody Mary.” We’ll leave that up to you to decide.

Enjoy a romantic evening and take an open-air sleigh to mountain top dining at Beano’s Cabin. Upon arrival, enjoy a five-course meal, featuring local and seasonal ingredients and Colorado meats. There’s live guitar, a warm fireplace, and floor to ceiling windows offering glimpses of the White River National Forest surrounding you.

Day 4: Nordic Ski & Enjoy The Arts

beaver creek travel blog

Take a day off the steeps and explore the surrounding 32 kilometers of groomed and rustic Nordic and snowshoe terrain at McCoy Park. The Beaver Creek Nordic Center (located next to the Strawberry Park Express Lift) offers a complete rental shop with top of the line Nordic, Telemark, and snowshoe gear. Daily private and group lessons, as well as tours, are also available for those looking to learn or brush up on their skills. Want to try it all? The Nordic Sampler package allows you to mix and match Nordic activities such as a Snowshoe tour, Cross Country lessons, or Telemark tours.

If you’re not too exhausted from the morning’s activities, we recommend enjoying a cozy fireside hot cocoa and either partaking in or watching the ice-skating at the beautiful outdoor Beaver Creek Village rink.

In the evening, take a break from usual ski-town activities and enjoy a little culture a the Vilar Performing Arts Center. A 535-seat theater located in the Beaver Creek Village, the Vilar offers year-round performances including Broadway musicals, concerts, family entertainment, comedy, dance performances, and more. Whether looking for a sophisticated classical concert or something the kids will enjoy, the Vilar Performing Arts Center has something for everyone.

Day 5: Treat Yourself to White Glove First Tracks & Explore World Cup Terrain

birds of prey beaver creek

For your final day in Beaver Creek, treat yourself to a special morning and sign up for White Glove First Tracks. A pre-dawn lift ride followed by a five-star gourmet breakfast in an on-mountain cabin gets you out to the goods before the crowds. Enjoy a beautiful sunrise before you carve up fresh corduroy or enjoy truly untracked powder.

Now that your legs are warmed up, take Day 5 to try your skills on the Birds of Prey Downhill course, located just at the top of the Cinch Lift. This run was the site of the 2019 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and a regular stop on the World Cup tour. The steep relentless pitch will challenge even advanced skiers and riders.

For your final evening, enjoy true Colorado-style dining at 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grille located in the Beaver Creek Village. Featuring natural and organic ingredients from the Rocky Mountains, the restaurant offers sustainable cuisine such as local elk and all-natural fish. Sample some of Colorado’s finest craft beers to quench your thirst, or opt for a signature cocktail.

The summer season in Beaver Creek officially runs from mid-June to early September.

As Colorado locals, we call the time between the end of the ski season (mid-April) and the summer season “mud season”. This is when the snow is melting and the ground is hardening up so we can enjoy the hiking trails starting in mid-June! If you come to Colorado too early, you won’t be able to hike or bike because it will still be muddy and soft.

After September 4th some businesses close for the fall season. Many stay open through September, especially on the weekends because the weather can still be lovely! Through September, people still come to the mountains for weddings and group trips to Colorado during September because the pricing can be really great and the weather is still nice, just chilly at night. The Weekender: A Guide to Beaver Creek, Colorado

The ski town is a must-visit even during the warmer months..

The Weekender: A Guide to Beaver Creek, Colorado

Welcome to The Weekender , Coveteur’s travel series where seasoned globetrotters share their insider guides to top destinations across the world. Read on for the best spots to eat, stay, and enjoy.

With East Coast temperatures recently at an all-time high, I was desperately in need of a change of scenery, so I escaped to Beaver Creek, Colorado: a ski town about a three-hour drive from Denver. I’m not much of a domestic traveler, but I knew I had to visit the Colorado Rockies someday. Think: vast lush greens, crisp air, and a relaxing atmosphere. My friend and I decided to stay at The Osprey . We wanted to shed the hustle and bustle of the city, and let the views and breeze calm our busy souls. Plus, we were curious about what a ski resort could offer in the summer, and we were not disappointed. If you're planning to head to Beaver Creek during the warmer months, find a few ideas for where to stay, what to do, and where to eat in this nestled town by the mountains, ahead.

Where to Stay

Photo: Courtesy of Vail Resorts

Nestled in the heart of the Beaver Creek Resort , this intimate hotel is perfect for everything from family travels to a weekend getaway with friends. The location borders a ski lift that brings you straight up the mountains—perfect for an early ski run in the peak seasons. It’s quaint and cozy, and only a short walk away from the bustling village full of shops and restaurants.

Take a 4x4 Tour

Photos: Courtesy of Katie Mok

This 4x4 tour offered by the resort explores Beaver Creek’s terrains, showing off the natural beauty of the mountains. The tour takes you 11,440 feet above, where you'll overlook multiple ski slopes, neighboring mountains, and layers of towering trees.

Go Horseback Riding

As someone who is quite wary of animals, I like to think I did quite well horseback riding for the first time. Hosted by the Beaver Creek Stables , the company offers a few different options for you to choose from that's suitable for all ages. My trusty companion, Lobo, and I trekked an hour through some of the lushest green valleys and a rumbling river. We became best friends the second we met, especially since we uncannily matched from head to toe.

Remembering that the altitude is much higher than we’re used to, my friend and I opted for the Spruce Saddle Loop —an easy one-mile loop in the mountains just off the Centennial Express Lift. Our trek was packed with scenic views where the mountains met the clouds in the sky. Remember to pack extra water and light outerwear as temperature can change in an instant. You can head to the Summer Adventure Center for more trail options and ski lift tickets depending on the time of year you're visiting.

Book a Massage

Walking into the Exhale spa in the Park Hyatt Hotel was incredible. Experiencing a full-body massage in this stunning space along with their Aquas Sanitas Roman baths made me feel like I was walking on clouds afterwards!

Where to Eat

Our first stop was at Citrea , which set the tone for the rest of the trip. With the restaurant located in the heart of the village, we opted to sit outdoors to people watch and enjoy the nice breeze. Combining Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist on your favorite dishes, Citrea was a great first impression of Beaver Creek!

Beano’s Cabin

Beano’s was the place that had it all: ambience, food, and music. This, without fail, was an incredible experience. I arrived to the restaurant via horseback, trekking closer and closer with my new best friend Lobo. I won’t lie, I was definitely overwhelmed the second I opened the menu, but as soon as I saw the waiter make his way over, I went with my gut. This five-course meal (yes, five!) was the best decision I’ve ever made. I went the seafood route and I still think about it today. The menu at Beano's is seasonal, representing a vast amount of fresh ingredients, and is high up on my favorites list.

I never imagined to see so much raw seafood in the Colorado Rockies, but alas I was proven wrong. Hooked is located by the main lawn in the village. At dinner time, enjoy your meal with some live music. My friend and I had some flavorful oysters, followed by an omakase platter accompanied by local draft beer. I’m a sashimi fanatic, but there were amazing cooked options as well.

beaver creek travel blog

Located in the heart of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Beaver Creek is an upscale resort offering experiences both on and off the mountain. Overshadowed by better-known resorts, Beaver Creek doesn’t get the crowds other places do, which makes a visit here even more appealing.

Here’s how to spend a perfect long weekend in beautiful Beaver Creek .

Things To Do In Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek is known for its world-class skiing, but it truly is a year-round resort. Here are just a few things to do in the area.

Golf course at Beaver Creek Village.

Head To The Mountain

Three areas make up Beaver Creek Resort: Beaver Creek Village (the main village), Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead.

In the summer, the resort offers more than 62 miles of biking and hiking trails. Hike from the main village to the top via the moderately rated Overlook Trail. At the top, there’s a restaurant and a disc golf course. And if you hike up, you get to ride the gondola down for free. You could also take the Village To Village Trail to hike between all three resort areas.

In the winter, Beaver Creek Mountain offers 150 trails spanning more than 1,800 skiable acres. There’s also a Nordic area at the top of the Strawberry Park Lift. McCoy Park has cross-country and snowshoe trails as well as a dedicated beginner ski area.

Enjoy A Colorado Dinner With A Twist

There are three private cabins on Beaver Creek Mountain, all with unique offerings.

Beano’s Cabin serves a gourmet prix-fixe, five-course dinner. In the winter, a sleigh ride will take you to the cabin. In the summer, you can try your hand at horseback riding to earn your dinner. The hour-long guided ride up the mountain is beginner-friendly. If that isn’t for you, you can ride up on a wagon pulled by a tractor.

Take a 15-minute sleigh ride from The Ritz-Carlton in Bachelor Gulch up to Zach’s Cabin . The rustic-chic cabin has a cozy vibe thanks to the fireplaces. For dinner, you can choose from a-la-carte menu items that feature regional ingredients, like lamb and steak, and sip on award-winning wines while enjoying the sweeping mountain views.

If you’ve got the grandkids in tow, Allie’s Cabin is where you want to be. Their signature family dinners include a three-course meal for adults and a buffet set up just for kids. For dinner and a show, book one of the Thursday wine dinners, which pair food with wine followed by a fireworks show. To get to Allie’s Cabin, you’ll take an open-air sleigh pulled by a snowcat. You’ll love the plush slippers that greet you when you arrive!

Take In A Show

The Vilar Performing Arts Center is in the center of Beaver Creek Village and features Broadway musicals, jazz shows, family shows, and films. Beaver Creek Resort was the first resort in the world to open its own performing arts center. Today, the center continues to bring top-notch shows to the area as well as host local awards shows and functions.

Relax And Rejuvenate

Whether you’re wearing yourself out on the mountain or just need a break, there are many great spas in Beaver Creek to help you unwind. The Exhale Spa inside the Park Hyatt offers all the usual spa services, but it also has a relaxing water sanctuary inside called Aqua Sanitas. It includes several hydrotherapy pools, a steam room, and a tepidarium , or an essential-oil filled room modeled after Roman baths.

Conde Nast Traveler has recognized Spa Anjali inside The Westin Riverfront Resort as one of the best spas in the world. Both its decor and its treatments are inspired by the natural world. For a truly unique experience, book one of the chakra journeys, which use ancient techniques and scents to take you on a healing escape.

The Beaver Creek Ice Rink in the village.

Spend A Day In The Village

Beaver Creek Village is a quaint oasis of shops and restaurants. Walk through the village to find plenty of clothing, art, and jewelry. At the heart of it all is the Beaver Creek Ice Rink, which operates in both the winter and summer.

Beaver Creek Village hosts many festivals and events throughout the year. Highlights in the summer are the Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival and the Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival . In the winter, you can enjoy snowshoeing and culinary delights during the Winter Culinary Weekend . And don’t miss Oktoberfest , where you’ll be dancing and eating bratwurst all weekend long.

Go Fishing Or Golfing

Fishing is a year-round sport in Beaver Creek. A number of companies, like Gore Creek Fly Fisherman , will take you to the best fly-fishing spots on the Eagle River, Colorado River, or Gore Creek.

If you’re visiting during the winter, try your hand at ice fishing. Vail Valley Anglers will pick you up from your hotel, take you to a frozen alpine lake, and provide you with a fishing reel, bait, a warm hut, and a hot lunch.

If golf is more your thing, you can easily hit the links at one of the golf courses in Beaver Creek. The course at the Beaver Creek Golf Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and is open to the public. The EagleVail Golf Club is less than a 15-minute drive from Beaver Creek and is also open to the public. You can book a tee time online here .

Best Restaurants In Beaver Creek

Powder 8 kitchen & tap.

Located at the base of the ski resort, Powder 8 Kitchen & Tap is a hot spot for apres-ski drinks. It’s a no-frills cafeteria with limited food options, but on a bluebird day, nothing beats having drinks outside in the sun while listening to live music. Powder 8 is open in both the winter and summer.

Vail & Beaver Creek Chophouse

For a more expansive menu, head over to the Vail & Beaver Creek Chophouse , also located in the base area. The patio is pretty big and is lined with heaters and firepits for warmth in the winter. You could easily sit here for hours and just people-watch. Attached to the chophouse is CBAR , where you can get your fill of seafood and oysters.

Beaver Creek Candy Cabin

For a sweet pick-me-up, head to the Beaver Creek Candy Cabin at the top of the Strawberry Park or Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express Lift. Once a ski patrol hut, the wooden structure is now an old-style candy store filled with taffy, bulk candy, and even chocolate bars in the shape of ski boots. Sorry, summer visitors — this sweet shop is only open in the winter.

Sauce On The Creek

Beaver Creek Resort is near the town of Avon, which has its own food scene worth checking out . If you can only get away for one meal, go to Sauce on the Creek . It has the best-priced happy hour around. Don’t miss the Fat Tony (homemade meatballs) and pasta with vodka sauce. If you are there during the summer, sit outside on the patio. It has a laid-back vibe with bocce and live music.

Northside Kitchen

Pastries the size of your head? You will find them at Northside Kitchen in Avon. Don’t be surprised if you also find a line out the door in the morning — the sweets are that good.

Here’s a tip: Stop in to Northside Kitchen in the afternoon to snag any leftover pastries for a discounted price. They’ll still be delicious the next morning!

Best Places To Stay In Beaver Creek

Whether you’re looking for a hotel room or multiroom condominium, a variety of accommodations are available at Beaver Creek Resort. The resort offers several specials throughout the year that will allow you to combine your activities — like ski-lift tickets or golf — with your hotel stay to save money. You can refine your online search to book a place within a short walk or shuttle ride of the lifts. Or go for a ski-in, ski-out place like The Osprey at Beaver Creek , which claims to be the closest hotel to a ski lift in North America!

If you prefer a hotel setting, The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in Avon has its own gondola that will take you to the ski resort. It has traditional hotel rooms as well as larger rooms with kitchens. The hotel has an outdoor pool that is lively all year round, plus delicious dining, including the award-winning Mexican restaurant Maya .

For an especially luxurious stay, consider The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch . This rustic mountain lodge is set at the base of the Bachelor Gulch lift and is known for its lively apres-ski scene with an over-the-top seafood station, outdoor bar, and live music around the firepit. While you’re there, be sure to say hello to the resident dogs, a Bernese Mountain Dog named Scout and a Saint Bernard named Bachelor.

Pro Tip: You absolutely cannot leave Beaver Creek without trying one of its signature chocolate chip cookies . Chefs in white coats come out to the main base every day at 3 p.m. sharp to deliver these fresh-from-the-oven treats.

Image of Amy Sward

Amy’s passion for traveling and writing started at a young age. She grew up traveling with her family -- visiting three continents by the time she was 16. She’s always looking for her next trip and isn't happy until she has at least one (or two) on the horizon. She is most fulfilled when she’s exploring new areas like a local and finding good deals on travel and activities.

Amy studied broadcast journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She started her career as a TV news producer in Tulsa and Denver, winning 4 Emmy Awards for her work. She’s also worked in production for HGTV and as a spokeswoman for a small Colorado mountain town.

Amy is married with two young kids. Both kids got their passports before age one, as it’s her goal to instill the travel bug in them from a young age. If you can’t find Amy at an airport, you can find her trying out new restaurants, reading, or running.

The resort itself is very family-focused. You will not find late-night bars and dance clubs here. Instead, you will find lots of kids and family-oriented activities. There is also a performing arts center and an ice skating rink. Parts of Beaver Creek, like Bachelors Gulch are also known to be a little more upscale. But what everyone will tell you about Beaver Creek is the cookies! Every day when the lifts close, employees hand out hot cookies as you come off the mountain. Pretty awesome right?!

beaver creek travel blog

Below I have broken down Beaver Creek into three areas, Beaver Creek, Avon and Bachelor Gulch.

Where To Stay In Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek sits between Vail and Edwards above the town of Avon. The main area of the resort is beaver creek. There are two other ski areas on the mountain known as Bachelors Gulch and Arrowhead.

Coming with kids? I would recommend staying on the mountain in Beaver Creek. Older group? You may enjoy staying in Avon, putting you within walking or short driving distance to bars and restaurants in the area.

Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek Room

Westin River Front Resort and Spa – Avon I have stayed at Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in Avon twice now and love it! The Westin has its own gondola that takes you from the hotel to the ski lifts! We loveeed the infinity hot tubs and lap pool. The Hotel has two restaurants including Chef Richard Sandoval’s Maya. Highly recommend this spot!

beaver creek travel blog

The Christie Lodge

The Christie Lodge is another great option in Avon. Each suite has a full kitchenette making it group for longer stays and groups. They also have Indoor and outdoor hot tubs and heats the pool. The accommodations are dated but if your looking for a place to soak and lay your head after a long day on the slopes this is it.

The Ritz Bachelors Gulch

Looking to ritz it up? Bachelor Gulch! The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch is amazing, as are all Ritz’s right? The Ritz and surrounding condos offer great ski-in, ski-out access. I really love all the blues and tree skiing around Bachelor Gulch so this is often where I ski in Beaver. We actually stayed here in the summer and it’s easily one of my favorite spots in Colorado!

Airbnb Beaver Creek

Airbnb , of course, is always a great option and you will find available houses and condos in each of these areas.

Where to Eat and Drink in Beaver Creek

Beaver creek.

CBar: I have only stopped in here for drinks but the nachos we kept seeing looked incredible. Plus they have really great Happy Hour specials like $3 beers! Can’t beat that!

Beano’s Cabin: Looking for an amazing dining experience while on vacation? Look no further than Beano’s Cabin. Book an open-air sleigh ride (pulled by a snowcat) to the top of the mountain for an incredible five-course meal. Stating at $140 ahead, this is pricey. But it’s totally worth every penny! Upon arrival, you unbundle and swap out your snow boots for slippers. Beano’s Cabin has a great cozy feel with a roaring double-sided fireplace and live music. Everything we ate was decadent. Read more about our meal here.

Dinner at Beano’s Cabin

Gondola Pizza: We ordered delivery pizza from here while staying at the Westin and WOW! Just wow! So unexpectedly good! Highly recommend.

Agave: A trendy Mexican restaurant that also has a music venue. Check the calendar as this venue gets some killer bands.

beaver creek travel blog

Avon Bakery & Deli: Call ahead or swing by here to pick up a bagel or breakfast sandwich before hitting the slopes or the trail.

Bachelor’s Gulch

Zacks’s Cabin: Similar to Beano’s Cabin, you can ride a cat up to a cabin for a fun dining experience. This is not a set menu but still a pricey dinner for the experience. I did this a few years ago with about 10 friends and had a great time.

Where to Ski in Beaver Creek

I really do love to lap the Bachelor Gulch/Arrowhead area. If you’re looking for a little more expert terrain head over to Birds of Prey. If you are more of a blue skier then head to the base and all the way up to the top to ski some great long blue runs.

beaver creek travel blog

Centennial, which runs from top to bottom, and switches from green, blue to black may be one of my favorite runs in Colorado! Beaver Creek does not have the Back Bowls like Vail but Strawberry Fields is their alternative, which has is some good blue runs and lots of steep black runs back here too.

The Essential Guide to Beaver Creek Ski Resort

If you want world-class skiing with all the amenities, yet half of the Vail resort crowds, head to Beaver Creek ski resort in Colorado . An easy 15-minute drive west of glittery, Swiss-inspired Vail sits this gated ski community tucked up in the mountains. Here, you can experience world-class powder skiing, as well as the incredible Birds of Prey downhill course that hosts the Xfinity Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup each year.

Beaver Creek's skiable terrain spans Beaver Creek Mountain, Bachelor Gulch Mountain, Larkspur Bowl, Grouse Mountain, and Arrowhead Mountain. The resort is perched at just over 8,000 feet above sea level with a summit elevation of 11,440 feet. Beaver Creek gets an average of 323 inches of snow per year on more than 1,800 acres, and 150 different trails are accessible by 25 lifts. At just under a two-hour drive (in light traffic) from Denver , this resort is far enough off the beaten path for you to avoid the Summit County weekend push.

Beaver Creek's Base Villages

Vail purchased the land for Beaver Creek in 1972 and opened it for action in 1980. Since then, numerous expansions have resulted in three distinct base villages. Beaver Creek Village represents the heart of the resort, with five-star dining, luxurious hotels, a performing arts center, and great shopping all centered around a fun outdoor ice rink. The smaller Bachelor Gulch Village revolves around the Ritz-Carlton and is a ski-in and ski-out resort community comprised of private homes and mountain lodges. Arrowhead Village provides a western entry point to the ski resort and access to the Arrow Bahn Express Lift. Most homes and private condos let you access the lift by foot, as well as the community pool, seasonal restaurant, and an outdoor fire pit.

Beaver Creek boasts 1,800 skiable acres with a 3,340-foot vertical drop and offers terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders . However, the resort is mostly regarded as intermediate, with mid-level terrain making up most of its runs.

Head to Bachelor Gulch if you’re a newbie skier or rider to check out beginner trails with a view at the top of the Bachelor Gulch Express Lift. Also check out the Elkhorn Lift which services trails like Lamplighter, Maverick, and Easy Come, Easy Go. From this lift, you can wind your way down to Beaver Creek Landing and take the Riverfront Express Gondola into the town of Avon.

Intermediate enthusiasts should take the Larkspur Express Lift to Coyote Glade near Bachelor Gulch. Here, you will enjoy open, spacious terrain with great views. Advanced intermediate skiers may find a fitting challenge off of the Centennial Express Lift, where you can dabble in a few short black diamond runs that lead into blue and green trails.

Grouse Mountain is the haven for advanced skiers and riders on a powder day. Head down through Royal Elk Glades, but note that this area closes at 3 p.m. Challenge yourself on all four of the resort's terrain parks and its halfpipe, which is located off of the Centennial Express Lift. Extreme athletes can check out the famous Stone Creek Chutes at the edge of the resort's boundary (they close at 2:30 p.m.). Of course, there’s also the Birds of Prey downhill racecourse for those who want to strap on their skinny skis and lay down some carves.

Lift Tickets

Beaver Creek's adult lift tickets start at $169 per day, with weekend passes for $338. Children can ski or ride for $117. Of course, for a premium price, you can also buy an Epic Pass that gives you access to multiple ski areas throughout Colorado, California, the Midwest, the East Coast, Canada, and Europe. The scaled-down Epic Day Pass will give you seven days at Beaver Creek, as well as many other participating North American resorts.

Food and Drink

Beaver Creek Village's charming downtown is lined with great restaurants and slopeside dining, from fine dining to seafood that's flown in fresh. Or, you can head down the hill to the town of Avon for off-hill dining.

  • Beano's Cabin's legendary on-mountain dining experience is far from your typical ski resort burgers and beer. Instead, Beano's serves up five-star, fine dining perfectly paired with wine. Enjoy a 20-minute, open-air sleigh ride through the powder to the restaurant nestled in Larkspur Bowl. (No car necessary.) Reservations are required to score a five-course dinner at this award-winning restaurant, so make sure you come hungry.
  • Hooked , in Beaver Creek Village, is easy to miss unless there’s a massive line out the front door, which, rightfully, there should be. Here you can enjoy amazing sushi, oysters, king crab, and live lobster flown in fresh. However, don't leave without trying Hooked's famous chef's specialty, the Crimpster. It's a lobster tail stuffed with a snow crab stuffed shrimp. Now, let that sink in ... Hooked is pretty casual, so come as you are.
  • For a nice night out in the village, head to Toscanini , right next to the ice rink. This restaurant boasts innovative Italian fare, yet has plenty of gluten-free options. Toscanini's open-air kitchen lends a nice ambiance and their roasted calamari (yes, roasted, not fried) tastes like bacon of the sea. Ask to talk to the on-site sommelier for recommendations on the perfect wine pairing for your meal, selected from their extensive Italian wine list.
  • Maya , located inside the Westin in Avon (just a short drive from any one of the base villages) is one of the best Mexican eateries in Colorado. This modern Mexican grill puts its own spin on traditional dishes, and the guacamole alone is worth the drive from Denver . Tequila abounds, as the restaurant has more than 100 agave-based spirits and house-infused tequilas—a perfect warm-up after a day on snow. Snuggle up with a drink in hand next to one of Maya’s outdoor fire pits and enjoy views of the mountain and Eagle River.

Rentals and Gear

Save money and time by reserving your gear online at Epic Mountain Rentals . Select from demo skis (the latest technology for all abilities levels) or performance skis (specific to intermediate carvers), and then pick your skis up slopeside from multiple locations. Even better—your gear can be delivered to your hotel room or condo, complete with overnight storage and an on-snow valet. (Don't forget to tip.) Snowboard rentals can be picked up at the Burton flagship store in Beaver Creek Plaza. Other rental outlets include Base Mountain Sports , Christy's Sports , and multiple hotels like the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch and the Westin Riverfront.

Lessons and Clinics

The ski and snowboard school at Beaver Creek is top-notch. Whether you're up for a powder lesson, some coaching through the steeps, or sharpening your skills on wide, flat groomers, the instructors here will hook it up. Choose from private or group lessons for kids, teens, and adults. You can even book a session with video analysis to further strengthen your skills.

Beaver Creek's ski and snowboard instructors are USSA-certified; they even have race-specific staff for those who want to brush up on their slalom skills. Their clinics suit newbies to all-mountain technical freeriders, and their school won the National Ski Area Association’s Best Overall Safety Award, so you can be sure you're in good hands.

Skiing and Snowboarding Alternatives

If you need a day off from skiing or snowboarding, Beaver Creek offers plenty of other activities, too. Try a snowshoe tour with a 48-hour advanced reservation. Don’t miss the Thursday night fireworks shows. Allie’s Cabin gives you front row seats, if you care to dine while you watch. Of course, you can also shop and ice skate in Beaver Creek Village and munch on a free, homemade cookie at 3 p.m. on the plaza (the staff at Beaver Creek hands out nearly half a million cookies every year).

Beaver Creek's lodging options fall in line with the rest of the resort's world-class service. So, if you want to be pampered with slopeside amenities, catch some z's at one of these lodging options:

  • The ski-in, ski-out luxury of the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch gives you exclusive access to the Bachelor Gulch trails, meaning shorter lift lines and no need to drive, park, and haul your gear to the base of the resort. This dramatic mountain chalet was inspired by lodges in the National Park System and is one of AAA's Five Diamond Hotels. The spa at the Ritz offers jaw-dropping luxury with rocky, grotto-style soaking pools where you can relax your sore muscles.
  • The Beaver Creek Lodge offers an indoor-outdoor swimming pool, breathtaking balcony views overlooking the creek, and easy access to the center of Beaver Creek Village's restaurants, shops, and two chairlifts. Rent one of their fully equipped, three-bedroom condos if you're traveling with a group. Each condo has a full kitchen, separate dining room, multiple living rooms, and plenty of space to sprawl out and make yourself comfortable. Enjoy pillow-top beds, artistic mountain decor, crackling fireplaces, and a great concierge service. Other in-suite features include a Keurig coffee maker, a laundry room, and a whirlpool bathtub.
  • Trapper's Cabin is a totally exclusive private residence located right on the mountain, allowing you to ski out your front door. The cabin has four bedrooms and can sleep up to 10. You can also customize your stay to fit your needs with a personalized concierge, a private chef, ski rental delivery, and spa treatments.

Here’s Why You Should Travel to Beaver Creek, Colorado this Fall

As the streets of Beaver Creek and Vail empty out once school is back in session, the fall season is fully upon Colorado’s mountain towns. In this shoulder season – the few months between warm weather activities and ski season – Beaver Creek visitors have the opportunity to experience a plethora of fun activities, while avoiding overpriced lodging and hour-long waits at popular restaurants. Here’s a breakdown of the best Beaver Creek fall activities by month.

Hot Air Balloon Rides: September introduces the opportunity for hot air balloon rides, offering a unique perspective of the Vail Valley and the Rocky Mountains. Soar above the colorful landscapes as the rising sun bathes the mountains in warm hues. Hiking Trails: September’s crisp air and clear skies set the stage for invigorating hikes around Beaver Creek. The surrounding Gore Range offers opportunities for high-alpine hiking, with summits reaching 14,000 feet. Alpine lakes, meadows, and wild strawberries pepper the beautiful landscape.

Summertime in Beaver Creek, Colorado

by Lisa Harris | Travel | 14 comments

Feature image for blog post on Beaver Creek in summertime

Established in 1980, Beaver Creek Resort was once referred to as the “Tiffany’s of ski resorts.” And while the resort is undeniably upscale, it’s most definitely not snooty or pretentious. In fact, it has a real family feel to it with wholesome activities and attractions. One of them being Munich transplant, Helmut Fricker, who gives weekly performances in the plaza on his alpenhorn and accordion while dressed in traditional lederhosen.

The entrance to Beaver Creek village is this photogenic pedestrian bridge crossing over Beaver Creek.

Village of Beaver Creek Colorado

The center of Beaver Creek plaza features an ice skating rink in winter. During summertime, however, the rink turns into a turf-covered family area with games, picnic tables, and a small stage for musical performances. Quaint shops and restaurants surround the ice rink. When it’s time for a break, settle into one of the plush couches near a fireplace and enjoy a refreshing gelato.

Beaver Creek Chapel in Beaver Creek Colorado

The Chapel at Beaver Creek sits on the outskirts of the village and is an easy stroll from the plaza. The peaceful creek runs past the chapel, through town, and down the valley.

I rode the chairlift and had lunch at the Spruce Saddle, which is a restaurant located mid mountain. Then I hiked a bit and took in the breathtaking scenery. In the summer, wildflowers are abundant on the mountain. Lupine, columbine, and Indian paintbrush, among others, line the hiking trails.

A quick word about my outfit…I recently purchased these pieces from Athleta and love them for hiking! Both the top and shorts are lightweight, quick drying, breathable, and offer sun protection. I’ll also use the top over my swimsuit for paddle boarding and boating for added sun protection.

Bachelor Gulch is Beaver Creek’s neighboring village and is home to the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch and “Bachelor,” the hotel’s 8-month old, 100-pound Saint Bernard ambassador pup.

A favorite hike is the village to village trail connecting the two resorts…then finishing with a refreshing mimosa.

Just 15 minutes away, Vail is home to the Betty Ford Botanical Gardens. It’s free of charge (donations are appreciated) and definitely worth a visit.

If you’re taking a road trip this summer and coming anywhere near Colorado, put Beaver Creek on your list. You won’t be sorry!

Beaver Creek looks like a beautiful place to visit whatever time of year it is. xx

It really is, Alison. Summer is my favorite, though. xx, Lisa

We visited the Betty Ford Botanical Gardens and it was amazing!! Colorado has such wonderful mountain towns, and I’m glad we were able to enjoy them once I retired. XOXO Jodie http://www.jtouchofstyle.com

I couldn’t agree more, Jodie! xoxo, Lisa

This place is a dream come true. I would love to see photos of Beaver Creek this winter too!

It really is dreamy. Not sure I’ll go back in the winter, but it looks like a winter wonderland! xo, Lisa

Leslie Susan Clingan

Oh, my gosh!! I have pinned this post and am looking up how far Beaver Creek is from El Paso. What a stunning vacation spot. Your photos are breathtaking. Beaver Creek needs to put your on their Chamber of Commerce or Tourist Bureau. Truly, you should share your post with them.

Love the hiking shorts. I have 2 similar pair of hiking pants from North Face. They were snug before Covid. Might have to make dust cloths out of them now.

Thanks for pinning, Leslie! You can see why it’s one of my favorite places. I hope you can make the trip someday.

My favorite thing about these shorts is the wide stretch band at the waist – almost like maternity pants, but way cuter and super comfy.

Lisa

Lisa, these photos are amazing! I totally want to visit! It all looks so beautiful!

Thanks, Lisa! It’s a gorgeous place. You’d love it! xoxo

Winter Things to Do in Beaver Creek for Non-Skiers

May 2, 2024   No Comments »

Home » Blog » Destinations » North America » America » Colorado » Winter Things to Do in Beaver Creek for Non-Skiers

February 14, 2024 No Comments »

Being a non-skier in Colorado can be perplexing to people. People often question why I moved to Colorado if I don’t ski. Of course, that’s ludicrous – there are so many things to do in the Colorado Rockies besides skiing!

It’s inevitable that as a non-skier in Colorado, you’ll likely have skiing friends, however, you don’t have to avoid them all winter – instead, you can join them to go play in the mountains. I recently traveled to Beaver Creek, Colorado, with my skiing friend Courtney, and I found lots of non-ski things to do, ranging from adventure to culture!

Table of Contents

Beaver Creek Colorado

This was my first trip to Beaver Creek Resort. It’s located in Vail Valley near the town of Avon just west of Vail ski resort. It was the most recent addition to the long list of ski areas along the I-70 corridor in Colorado. The ski resort opened in the 80s and has grown into one of the premier winter destinations in Colorado.

Beaver Creek Colorado village

The cute resort town is nestled back into the mountains away from I-70 making it feel exclusive. A creek runs through the village, and there are ample condos, hotels, restaurants, and shops to make your stay enjoyable in the winter or summer.

Things to Do in Beaver Creek for the Non-Skier

Of course, the most popular thing to do in Beaver Creek in the winter is skiing. However, even if you don’t ski you can still soak up Beaver Creek’s wintertime atmosphere. You can even get up on the slopes
without skis!

Nordic Center at Beaver Creek

The Nordic Center near the Strawberry Park Express Lift is your headquarters for winter adventures that have nothing to do with downhill skiing! Here, you can rent snowshoes and cross-country skis and choose organized tours through McCoy Park with Nordic Center guides. McCoy Park is a spectacular lift-accessed natural area that offers Nordic, snowshoe, and alpine trails. With breathtaking views of the Sawatch Range, McCoy Park offers more than 19 kilometers of groomed and rustic trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

I love snowshoeing, it’s basically winter hiking
what’s not to love? I got a guide, rented snowshoes, and went snowshoeing around McCoy Park. My guide, Carrie, was super and took me all over McCoy Park, pointing out mountain ranges, dining spots, flora, and fauna.

Beaver Creek Snowshoeing

My Best Tips for Snowshoeing in Beaver Creek

If you are new to snowshoeing – then I would suggest renting snowshoes for the full day and hiring a guide for the morning. The guide will take you up the mountain and also point out trails and get you oriented.

Snowshoe through Aspen Groves to Mamies Mountain Cabin, located at the top of Bachelor Gulch near the Express Chairlift (#16), and have lunch on the deck with a spectacular view! If you have skiing friends – you can even plan to meet them there. Then, you can spend the rest of the afternoon snowshoeing on your own around the trails of McCoy Park.

Discover Piney Lake, Colorado – a hidden secret in Vail

If you have your own snowshoes and are fine with going out on your own, then just get a lift ticket for McCoy Park for $61 for the day and go out and explore the trails on your own! Maps are available at the Nordic Center, and the trails are well-marked.

Finally, make sure that when you take the Strawberry Park Express lift, you stop at the Candy Cabin and pick up a few of your favorite sugary sweets for a pick-me-up on the trail! I highly recommend a few sour gummy worms!

Cookies – A Beaver Creek Tradition

beaver creek warm cookies

At 3 PM, follow your nose to the base of the mountain at the base area to enjoy a chocolate chip cookie! It doesn’t matter if you skied or snowshoed down the mountains; just look for the people wearing chef hats and holding platters of chocolate chip cookies. This loved tradition was the perfect way to end my day on the mountain!

Plan your weekend in Colorado Springs – where to eat, stay, and adventure

Ice Skating in the Heart of the Village

At the heart of Beaver Creek Village is a small ice rink that opens at noon each day. You can bring your own skates or rent them and give the rink a twirl. Or if you want to give your legs a break, just sit by one of the many cozy fire pits to sip a drink and watch the ice skaters show off their moves. Either way, it’s a great way to enjoy an Apres ski experience.

Beaver Creek ice skating

Go to a Show at the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC)

It’s hard to imagine, but underneath the ice-skating rink is the home of Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) . This architectural wonder is hidden underneath the village and is the perfect place to spend a cultural evening.

When they were developing Beaver Creek, they were in search of a ‘heart’ for the village. They found it in the unusual architectural design of Gorden Pierce. The goal was not only to give culturally enriching experiences but also to invigorate the village, and it did just that. Of course, local residents enjoy it frequently. But it’s also an attraction bringing in people like me from the surrounding communities as well as Denver. It makes this typical Colorado ski resort a more interesting place to ski, visit, and live!

“I looked and looked for a location in Beaver Creek for a site and could not find an available or suitable location. I thought that the plaza area might work, except that the required height of the fly for all of the rigging would block the views from the Market Square building condos,” architect Gordan Pierce said. “Then a lightbulb in my brain went on. I remembered reading about a building in the theater district in New York that was mostly underground.”

Vilar performing arts center

What seemed like a crazy idea was a brilliant idea! However, it certainly came with challenges too. Much of the stage rigging needed to be created horizontally, rather than vertically, since the ice rink was directly above the stage! They also had to take into account the potential noise from the Zamboni clearing the ice during concerts (a pretty unusual theater issue to have)!

Inspired by the heritage of European theater design, the 535 seats in the theater’s horseshoe shape are reminiscent of many classic European halls. Raised, parterre seating at the orchestra level, along with a curved balcony, create an intimate room, bringing the audience closer to the performers. Interior finishes, the use of natural wood, and custom-designed carpets and fabrics reference the rich, autumnal palette of the Colorado mountain environment.

Learn more about the founding and building of VPAC

You might be thinking that a small little community like Beaver Creek might not have a very good lineup. Ok – that was me thinking that! I suppose after living for three years in New York City, I became a bit of a theater snob. That’s why I was so surprised to see that VPAC has attracted big-name acts out to the small-town mountain community. VPAC has played host to world-renowned performers like B. B. King, Ringo Starr, Lyle Lovett, Tony award-winners “Rent” and “Kinky Boots” and comedian Jay Leno.

VPAC performance

See the complete VPAC lineup

Courtney and I went to see MOMIX perform their show, Alice. This trip down the rabbit hole was a nod to Alice in Wonderland. MOMIX is a modern dance company that performs all over the world. I never expected a town like Beaver Creek, this small and remote, to have productions that are so sophisticated. More than once I had to remind myself where I was!

MOMIX Performance Calendar

Alice was one of the best shows I’ve ever experienced; creative, surprising, and ingenious. The costumes and lighting were out of this world – creating Alice’s world of illusions. This is one ’trip’ you definitely want to take! Many of the performances included props that were so basic but used in ways that I never could have imagined. I kept imagining how fun it would’ve been to work with the props and come up with the choreography!

Dining Tip: Have dinner at the Dusty Boot or Aritza Restaurant before the show, and let them know that you are going to the show at VPAC because you’ll get 25% off your bill.

Have a Meal at Beaver Creek’s Dining Cabins

If you want a unique dining experience, make reservations at one of Beaver Creek’s dining cabins!

Beaver Creek cabin dining

Allie’s Cabin offers an on-mountain experience, complete with unparalleled views of Beaver Creek village and delicious Italian food. Get there and back by sleigh ride and enjoy the views along the way!

Take a 25-minute sleigh ride to Beano’s Cabin for a fine dining experience. During the sleigh ride, you’re treated to sweeping views of Larkspur Bowl and Grouse Mountain. In operation for more than 35 years, Beano’s is Beaver Creek’s longest-running dining cabin, and it’s known throughout the state for its five-course menu.

Board a snowcat-towed sleigh at Bachelor Gulch, and after a few minutes, you’ll arrive at Zach’s cabin tucked between the Cabin Fever and Stirrup ski runs. The food at Zach’s is Alsatian, and the heartiness befits the mountain atmosphere.

Check out these unique things to do in Denver from a local

Where to Stay

Since Beaver Creek is a ski resort, there are plenty of options for accommodations, ranging from hotels to condos to home rentals. We stayed at Creekside at Beaver Creek , a luxury ski-in/ski-out property located within the heart of Beaver Creek Village. Nestled right up against the bubbling Beaver Creek, it’s easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and the theater.

creekside beaver creek

Next time your skiing friends want to head to the mountains to catch some runs, go with them! Beaver Creek has a variety of things to do for the non-skier, such as hanging out with your skiing friends on the mountain or in the VPAC theater. Sometimes, the best experiences are found in the most surprising places!

TESTIMONIALS

I just completed my reservation up there with some guys for a golf trip. I've been working with Anna Marie for the last week or so. I just wanted to tell you how amazing she is! It's very difficult to find somebody that's willing to go above and beyond. But she definitely did. I had to make some changes here and there but she was happy to do it with a great attitude! I just wanted to let you know what an asset you have working for you! Thank you so much! Debby

I would like to commend your reservations agent, Anna Marie, for the pleasant, professional manner in which she helped me and my family find just the right accommodation for our upcoming trip to Vail. Not knowing where to start, but wanting something special for our family and our good friends who will be flying in from Maryland, she asked just the right questions, made several good recommendations, and ultimately found just the right room (condo) for us. The location is perfect, the room is perfect, and the price is perfect as well. In this day and age, it was truly a pleasure to work with someone so responsive, knowledgeable, kind, pleasant, and helpful. Please thank her, once again, for me, and please give her my best regards. John

I recently had the pleasure of booking my reservation with Heather. She is absolutely amazing! I just wanted to let you all know how great she is and I really appreciate all she did for us! See you in July! Stephanie
