Skirt the coast of St. Kitts in a catamaran, then cool off with a snorkel adventure in the ocean. Though Barbados is known for its picture-perfect beaches and turquoise waters, it also has a wild side—a rocky coastline with crashing waves, the oldest rum distillery in the world (built in 1703), and gorgeous gardens everywhere. British influences are abundant. Kids love seeing the protected green monkeys at the Barbados Wildlife Preserve. Bridgetown, the capital, is historic and colorful with a laid-back vibe and plenty of shops and boutiques to find mementos.
On the island of St. Croix, there are numerous beaches where you can relax. For the more adventurous, head to Coakley Bay Beach or Cane Bay Beach for snorkeling and diving. Its volcanic origins have resulted in incredibly lush vegetation and awe-inspiring scenery. Whether you want to lounge on a powdery sand beach, hike to the top of a volcano, or zip line through the jungle, St. Lucia has you covered. Evening Chic on Celebrity Cruises: What It Is and What to Wear for a Glamorous Night Out!
Planning a cruise with Celebrity Cruises and wondering what to wear on those special evening chic nights? Or even when they are?
Most cruises have Formal Night, but Celebrity cruises likes to do things a little differently…
To get some clarity on what to expect (and when,) we’ve got you covered.
Table of Contents
What Nights Are Evening Chic On Celebrity Cruises?
Evening Chic nights are special events that encourage passengers to dress up and enjoy a glamourous and sophisticated atmosphere onboard. Typically, the number of Evening Chic nights varies based on the length of your cruise.
For cruises that last 4-to-6 nights, you can expect to have one Evening Chic night. Meanwhile, on 7-to-11 night cruises, you’ll have two chic nights to look forward to.
Finally, if you’re embarking on a 12-night or longer voyage, your cruise will feature 3 Evening Chic nights.
It’s important to note that Celebrity Xpedition cruises do not have Evening Chic nights—instead, they promote casual attire for the entire duration of the cruise.
Remember, although Evening Chic nights are primarily scheduled on port days, the actual day may vary depending on the cruise itinerary.
So, it’s a good idea to check your specific itinerary or ask the crew for the exact dates once onboard.
What Is Evening Chic?
Evening Chic is a dress code that Celebrity Cruises has introduced as their version of formal nights. It encourages you to dress to impress, showcasing your unique, glamorous, and sophisticated style.
Unlike traditional formal nights, which usually require tuxedos or gowns, Evening Chic allows you to express your personal flair while still maintaining an elegant atmosphere.
During Evening Chic nights, feel free to wear a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, designer jeans, or an elegant dress top or blazer. You have a lot more flexibility.
Some guests even choose to pack a tuxedo or gown for these special evenings to capture memorable onboard photos.
The key is to combine comfort with a touch of glamour, so you can enjoy the night to the fullest.
Celebrity Cruises typically schedules Evening Chic nights based on the duration of your cruise. For cruises lasting 4 to 6 nights, you can expect one Evening Chic night.
On 7 to 11-night cruises, there will be two such nights, while cruises of 12 nights or more will have three. However, be sure to double-check your cruise’s specific itinerary, as schedules may vary.
Celebrity Cruises’ Dress Code Policy
Celebrity Cruises encourages guests to embrace their sense of style and sophistication on board. They have designed their dress code policy to cater for both comfort and elegance.
Evening Chic nights are a part of this policy, allowing you to showcase your unique fashion choices.
Guidelines for Men
Evening Chic means your attire should reflect a polished and refined look very similar to smart casual. Opt for dress shirts paired with slacks or chinos to create a classy ensemble.
Feel free to don a blazer or a sports jacket to elevate your outfit further.
Remember, footwear should complement your attire, so choose loafers or dress shoes to complete your look.
While some men may go the extra mile and wear a tuxedo or suit, it’s not required but encouraged for those who love dressing up.
Standard Evening Chic outfits for men are your basic smart casual outfits, think:
- Pants or chinos (not jeans, unless designer and NOT ripped) with a dress shirt, button-down shirt or long sleeves
- Optional sport coat or blazer
- Tuxedo or dinner suit
- NO Flip Flops, jeans, or T-shirts
Guidelines for Women
Women can choose from a variety of options, such as cocktail dresses, elegant skirts, or dressy tops paired with slacks or designer jeans.
If you’re feeling particularly glamorous, you may even opt for a gown to make a statement, but its completely unnecessary.
An elegant top with a dressy skirt is a great look.
Accessories like scarves or pashminas can add a touch of sophistication, while dressy shoes, such as heels or stylish flats, will add the finishing touch to your outfit.
Just ensure that your outfit aligns with the guidelines provided, and you’ll be ready to enjoy an unforgettable night full of elegance and style.
Guidelines For Kids
On chic night, it is mandatory for boys to wear full-length trousers in the main and some specialty restaurants.
However, smart pumps are allowed as long as they are not trainers.
In addition to the footwear, boys must also wear a collared shirt or a smart collared polo to complete their outfit.
It is important to note that adherence to the dress code is required in order to maintain the desired atmosphere in the restaurant on these special nights.
Not wearing formal attire or smart casual can get you denied access to the main dining room or specialty restaurants.
Evening Chic Nights on Celebrity Cruises
Cruise Length and Frequency
Evening Chic nights are a glamorous and sophisticated event on Celebrity Cruises. Depending on the length of your cruise, you can experience different numbers of Evening Chic nights.
For cruises of 4 to 6 nights, there is one Evening Chic Night, while for cruises lasting 7 to 11 nights, you’ll have the pleasure of participating in two Evening Chic nights.
If you’re lucky enough to be on a cruise of 12 nights or more, you’ll enjoy 3 Chic Nights.
Remember, dressing up for these events is key to making the night memorable and fun, so pack accordingly!
Specific Cruise Ships
It’s important to note that not all Celebrity Cruises ships follow the same dress code rules.
Most of the Celebrity Cruises ships offer Evening Chic nights, giving you the opportunity for more sophisticated attire and a special night out.
On the other hand, the Celebrity Xpedition cruise ship has a different dress code policy. For those planning to cruise on this specific ship, casual attire is acceptable throughout the entire cruise duration.
This will allow you to focus on exploring the remarkable destinations without worrying too much about dressing up for specific nights.
Additional Tips for Evening Chic
When preparing for Evening Chic night on your Celebrity cruise, remember to embrace your personal style while sticking to the dress code.
Although many think of it as a ‘formal night,’ it really is just smart casual attire. You don’t have to rent out a ball gown or suit and tie.
Don’t worry too much about over-(or even under)-dressing. As long as you’re dressed to impress (NO FLIP FLOPS!), you’re on the right track.
To best prepare for these nights, consider the length of your cruise. On a 7-night cruise, typically, two evenings are designated as Evening Chic nights.
You can plan two outfits OR take advantage of the laundry service onboard.
Planning your outfits in advance can help take the stress out of getting ready for the big night.
Make sure to pack versatile clothing items that can be dressed up or down. For example, a flattering pair of slacks, a skirt, or even designer jeans can be matched with various tops to create different looks.
Bring a few elegant dress tops or blazers to mix and match with your chosen bottoms. This way, you’ll have several outfits that are both chic and comfortable.
Accessorizing can add an extra touch of glamour to your ensemble. Whether it’s a statement necklace, a pair of eye-catching earrings, or a stunning clutch, the right accessories can elevate your outfit and showcase your personal style.
Don’t forget to bring along complementary shoes – think heels or dressy flats – for a complete, polished look.
Even though you are cruising in warm climates, it’s a good idea to pack a light sweater, a scarf, or a pashmina.
The evenings may cool down, and you’ll want to stay comfortable while enjoying the ship’s decks or your stateroom veranda .
Finally, remember that Evening Chic nights are an opportunity to make memories with loved ones or new friends.
Don’t stress about the outfit too much. A formal gown is the last thing you need to make the night memorable.
Don’t forget to take pictures before or during the event to capture the fun and add them to your souvenir collection.
Summary: Evening Chic on Celebrity Cruises
When planning for your Celebrity cruise, you’ll want to know when to don your evening chic attire. Typically, on a 7-night cruise, you can expect formal nights on days 2 and 6, which often coincide with sea days.
However, on a 9-night cruise, the evening chic nights might vary, so it’s best to check your specific itinerary for more accurate information.
As you prepare for your evening chic outfits, keep in mind that the goal is to dress up in a sophisticated and glamorous way.
This can include wearing a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, designer jeans, an elegant dress top, or even a blazer.
Some guests may choose to go all out with a tuxedo or gown for special onboard photos, but that’s entirely up to you and your personal style.
Don’t worry about the weather on your cruise; it’s always a good idea to bring along a lightweight sweater or fleece, as nighttime temperatures might drop, especially when enjoying the starry sky from your stateroom veranda or on one of the ship’s decks.
A scarf or pashmina can also add a touch of elegance while providing warmth during the cooler evenings.
Prepare for your Celebrity cruise’s evening chic nights by packing a few stylish and elegant outfits, along with some versatile accessories to stay comfortable during the cooler nighttime hours.
With a touch of glamour and sophistication, you’ll be ready to enjoy the fantastic dining experiences, take memorable photos, and create lasting memories during your time on the ship.

Is 10 days too long?
By keke1227 , June 29, 2004 in Celebrity Cruises

I am 19, and a few of my friends and I have booked the 10 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera on the Mercury in January. Of of my friend's mother is going, and I want my mother to come too. She thinks that a 10 day cruise is too long. Does anyone else agree? This will be my third Celebrity cruise, and I think that there is no way that 10 days is too long. I just love cruising!

Though our longest cruise is 12 days, I could easily cruise longer. 10 days gives you plenty of time to learn the gentle art of relaxation, which most of us have long ago forgotten or misplaced. 7 days just isn't quite long enough.
The exception, of course, would be for the person who may just not like being on the ocean in a ship. Generally in 10 days you will have 4 or 5 ports, so there's lots to do, plus time for that relaxation on sea days.
Too long? Never. I hate going on 7 day cruises now because it seems you just get unpacked and its time to start packing to go home. I really love the 14 day cruises, but 10 is much better than 7. You'll love it!
You're just getting relaxed by day seven. Anything longer is pure heaven. The longest cruise my husband and I have done is 14 nights and we loved it, would do it again in heart beat. Enjoy.
There isn't a cruise I've been on where the last day (even after 17 days) wasn't one day too early!
StephenJohnson
Longest to date was 15 nights, and while we were certainly ready to go home at the end of it, we could also have stayed on longer. A 10-12 day cruise is a nice length. One weekers are almost always too short.
If there is such a thing as a cruise that's too long I haven't been on it yet...not that I'm all that experienced mind you. Our very first cruise was just 4 days to see if we liked cruising....which turned out to be a really silly question. After that we jumped to 10 day cruises and that's all we'd taken until our Oosterdam 7 day cruise last March. Way too short!!!! Galaxy is a 12 day cruise and we can hardly wait! :) http://www.geocities.com/theklugspage/
I've been on 7 cruises - 5 7-day and 2 5-day. I think it really depends on the ship and the number of ports. On our 1st 7-day on the Nor. Sea, a 42,000 ship, I started to feel trapped on that small ship by the 2nd sea day in a row (it was the 6th day on the ship). My 5-day cruise to Canada on the Carnival Victory felt too short but my 5-day cruise on Carnival Jubilee felt just right. I just had a friend do a 12-day Hawaiian cruise in early June on a Norwegian ship that started in Oahu and stopped at a port per day for about 6 days, then 2 sea days, Fanning Island, then 2 sea days and then Oahu. She said they got very bored on the ship (I think it was an 80,000 ton ship) and there was no casino even open on it. She also said the average age on the ship was probably about 70.
I think the 10-day on the Galaxy will be just fine because it's a big enough ship, lots to do and lots of ports. However, you'll probably find a much older crowd on this kind of cruise, especially in January, than on summer or holiday cruises.
As long as I've got all that calming water to look at I'm in heaven! I find the opposite to be true, I see no point in packing for anything less than 7 days at a minimum and 11 to 12 is better, 14 wonderful and if you can tack on a 7 night for a 21 day you've hit a Royal Flush! :D :D
Too long!? Surely you jest!
I have to agree with most of the posters. 10 days is a whole lot better than 7 days. I reallylike 14 day cruises myself. Looking forward to a 15 night with a lot of sea days next December. We'll get to really chill out!
MortgageBabe
Too Long! Never. Our next is 17 days and it will still not be long enough. I would love to do the HAL World cruise- approx 108 days. If I stop cruising for the next 5 years I will have saved enough for an inside cabin for the World cruise however I would be insane after 5 years without a cruise. We are only doing 2 this year and I am in withdrawal!!
Not long enough!!
the longer the better I enjoyed our 17 and 18 days the best and would love to take longer ones
brigittetom
Unfortunately, our longest cruises have been a 7 day b/b on the Century and a 14 day cruise on the Zenith and we still weren't ready to get off the ship. We vote for "the longer the better".:)
Like Randy, our first cruise was a short one. Our last was 12 days with 2 days pre-cruise and 1 after. If I could get enough vacation it would be longer and still couldn't possibly be too long!
As to your cruise, it is the one that I am attempting to convince dh will be next (he's convinced just won't admit it). The great thing about it is that it includes 2 weekends which means less vacation time used. Nothing better than sitting in a deck chair on Sunday and dh asking - "So where will we be next Sunday?" and knowing that you will still be enjoying that deck chair! Tell your mom to go for it!
Sorry....double post.
Too long a cruise??? Now there's a concept I don't think has ever been brought up on this board!!
My feelings...
3/4/5 day cruises...not worth missing work for.
7 day cruises...worth the trip but over too soon. ( I have two booked for the next year)
10/11 day cruises...well worth it and I'm ready to came home and go back to work.
11+ day cruises...oh to dream!!
1stimekruiser
10 days absolutely not too long. I'm frankly kinda jealous that you can take a 10 day cruise at 19. ;)
If you are flying, it really doesn't seem to be worth the hassle to cruise for 1 week only. Remember, the first day is all unpacking and getting settled in and the dreaded lifeboat thing (I have trouble seeing my feet on the stairs wearing that lifejacket) and such. The last day - let's not even go there. Up too early, eat a hasty breakfast, wait to debark, etc. etc.
A 7 day cruise is only about 6 days really. Although the last evening you spend time packing. 10 days is good. 14 or 15 days are much better.
Even on Sea days there are lots of activities, crafts, trivia, ping pong, it does depend on the ship of course. Casinos are another activity, shows, demonstrations, informational talks on everything under the sun, digital cameras, jewelry, hair care, skin care, you name it.
Remember too, the airfare is the same for a 7 day cruise as a 14 day one. Often you can do back-to-backs, most ships go to the Eastern Caribbean one week and the next the Western Caribbean. Lots of variety, very little duplication of ports.
I have to agree with most of the other posters, 10 days is the shortest cruise we would even consider!!! :D Never bored on a ship & never can have too long of a cruise!! :D :D
One thing to consider--the original poster is 19. Although she was asking about her mother, I wonder if the other passengers on a 10 day would appeal to teenagers. Our Summit cruise in February made my husband and me feel like kids again, and we're in our fifties. I heard that 75% of the passengers were 55 and up, and I would believe it. Depending on how many friends are along, I think a 10 day might not have the kind of nightlife that a lot of teens enjoy.
I have to agree with the others, 10 days is definitly not too long. I can't imagine any cruise being too long. Up till now the longest I've been on is 7 days, but we're booked on a 10 day Princess cruise next year and I am really looking forward to it. I would love to do a 14 day back to back on Century, but I don't know if I can take that much time off work.
As I stated above, this will be my 3rd Celebrity cruise. The crowd is not really of the younger type, but I still have had a blast on my other two cruises. I have 3 other friends going with me also. I am not ready to try another line yet.
Of of my friend's mother is going, and I want my mother to come too. She thinks that a 10 day cruise is too long. Does anyone else agree?
You didn't say if your Mother had cruise before. That may have an affect on an answer. It may be too long if she hasn't cruised before. ;)
Our first five cruises were all seven day ones. Once we tried a longer one, we have never gone back; for all the above posted reasons. :D
We prefer, fourteen days! :)
