Chance the Rapper's Magnificent Coloring World Event Revealed

After releasing his new mixtape  Coloring Book ,  Chance the Rapper  announced an event called Magnificent Coloring World . It takes place today in Chicago. According to attendees who wrote about the experience on social media, ticket holders met at a location in Chicago, and then buses transported participants to a warehouse. Then, a video projected on a screen soundtracked by Chance's “Blessings.” After a message that said "Are You Ready?" appeared, the screen came down, revealing an enormous play area. The "Sunday Candy" video set seemed to be there, people appeared to be drawing on massive surfaces, dancers came out , a choir performed , people were given kiwi Mistic  to drink, and naturally, music from Coloring Book played. He was also apparently spotted on location. Essentially, it looks like a giant Chance-themed carnival. There was also new merch for sale. Watch the big reveal happen , and find some photos and videos from the event below.  Update (5/22, 2:33 p.m. ET): Chance has shared footage of him setting up for yesterday's event—find it below.  Update (5/25, 5:41 p.m. ET)____: Chance has shared more video from within the event (shot by Yak Elijah Alvarado ). It shows people on the bus to Magnificent Coloring World, people dancing, a choir practicing, and more. At one point, Chance is dressed in the suit for Chicago Bulls mascot Big Ben. It's set to "All Night" and "D.R.A.M. Sings Special." Watch the video below.

Towering Chicago, Printing a Coloring Book at Bookmobile

Printing a coloring book at Bookmobile is an easy process. As a short-run digital printer offering many options and competitive pricing for black and white interior pages, we’re the perfect fit for coloring books. An excellent example we printed recently is  Towering Chicago , an adult coloring book featuring images of iconic downtown Chicago scenes.

The Coloring Book

Based on the photographs of Katie Heupel,  Towering Chicago  brings a great 3-dimensional image to the flat book page. (Download a free coloring page here .) You can color the Fern Room at the Garfield Park Conservatory, the entrance to the Art Institute of Chicago, the Loop skyline, and Crown Fountain by Jaume Plensat, among other places.

Towering Chicago  is a square  trim size , 10″ x 10″. The interior printed black ink only, 80 pages on 70-lb. offset white. We perfect bound the book with a 4-color cover on 10-pt.  C1S  stock with gloss lay-flat film lamination.

Keep at mind that we count pages (and two pages is one sheet of paper) whether you’re printing duplexed or not. Like Towering Chicago , many coloring books print on one side of the sheet only. So while this book has a page count of 80, we only printed 40 images—the backside/verso of each page was blank. At Bookmobile, that’s still 80 pages/40 sheets of paper.

Katie marketed  Towering Chicago  well before publication so she could take advantage of holiday sales. It was even featured in a Holiday Gift Guide from the Chicago Reader ! The book is sold online at the Towering Chicago website and also in local independent stores . It’s been a great success—as soon as the first run was delivered, Katie was back for a quick reprint! Katie says,

Bookmobile provides custom book manufacturing; no cookie-cutter templates or trim sizes to adhere to here. We produce everything in house, and we only produce books. So the collected know-how of our experienced staff goes into every book we produce. Our minimum run is 25 copies—we could not maintain our high quality standards and breadth of options if we were only printing one copy of a book. For custom coloring books, we offer paper from 50- to 100-lb. in weight, white or natural. Most of the coloring books we print are on at least 60-lb. weight. For binding, we offer perfect binding , plastic spiral binding , and wire-o binding . Perforated paper is also available, but limited to 50- or 60-lb. white, a run of at least 100 copies, and a trim size that is 8-1/4″ x 10-3/4″ or smaller.

The  Chicago Reader has published a coloring book to raise funds for the paper and the artists who contributed drawings to the effort. More than 50 local artists contributed an amazing mix of illustrations, from legendary people (Gwendolyn Brooks, Frankie Knuckles, Svengoolie, Michael Jordan) to architecture (the Art Institute lions, South Shore, Pilsen, Music Box, Fireside Bowl, Hollywood Beach, downtown) to fun illustrations of everyday Chicagoans, pets, transit, and more.
