Why Visit Dalyan?

Dalyan is famous for its unique Dalyan river, protected sandy Iztuzu beach, also known as Turtle beach by most of the UK travellers, the Caretta Carettas sea turtles, the world famous mud baths believed to give extra health to your body and skin with its sulphuric mud, the ancient Lycian Kings’ rock-cut tombs, and the ancient city of Kaunos.

What to Expect?

You will be picked from your hotel (mostly about 08:00 am.) in Marmaris , Icmeler and meet the other participant on the boat.

Dalyan boat will depart the Marmaris port about 09:00 am., you’ll take your sunbed on the upper deck of the boat and start sailing about 2 hours along the beautiful coasts and crystal clear water of Marmaris through Dalyan.

During the boat trip, first you’ll have a swim break at the Aquarium Bay and than continue sailing along the Adakoy coasts, and than to Dalyan. And you’ll have a lunch (grilled chicken, salad and either rice or pasta) on the boat around 12:00-12:30 pm.

The boat will dock at the world-known Iztuzu beach, also know as the Turtle beach, that is a conservation area and prime breeding ground for the loggerhead turtles (caretta carettas).

You’ll have a swimming and walking break along this unique golden sandy beach. After the break you’ll hop on to a riverboat and cruise along tall reeds and maze-like passages of the Dalyan River and Delta.

You can take pictures of the Lycian Kings’ rock-cut Tombs, carved high in the cliff, from the 4th century BC. while you cruise on the riverboat, also learn the history from your guide on-board.

And than you’ll be taken to the famous mud baths and thermal pools of Dalyan. There, you’ll be refreshed up with its healing mud bath, swim in the warm, sulphur pools.

After the mud baths and thermal pools session, you’ll be taken back to your main boat at the Iztuzu Turtle beach and set sail back for Marmaris.

When you arrive Marmaris, you’ll be dropped back back your hotel in Marmaris.

Koycegiz is a small hamlet located at about 45 minutes drive from Marmaris. During this special excursion, you will have the opportunity to visit koycegiz lake, sultaniye mud baths, temple tombs and the famous Dalyan Turtle beach.

Dalyan (Turtle Beach) & Koycegiz Lake excursion is very popular among our guests. There are a lot of things to do during this excursion. The breathtaking Koycegiz Lake in between Dalyan and Marmaris is a notable attraction. You will take a boat ride through the lake of Koycegiz and pay a visit to the Mud Baths at Sultaniye. The hot spring waters mixed with minerals such as sulfur and mud are great fun.

The trip begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 08:30 am in the morning and ends up with a drop-off to your hotel at around 18:00 pm in the evening. The bus drive from Marmaris to Koycegiz village will take around 45 minutes. Upon your arrival, you will be transfered to river boats and cross the famous Koycegiz lake to arrive to Sultaniye mud baths. The thermal springs, mud baths and the hot spring baths are known to provide you with some secret health benefits. Your friends or family accompanying you will have a great time playing in the mud baths here. After you are filled with all this fun, you are offered a specially cooked local cuisine for your lunch on the boat. The boat then moves along the pristine surroundings and reach the shore. On the way you can see the ancient Rock Tombs at the city site of Caunos, while you are watchig the Temple Tombs your tour guide will reveal you several legends and stories associated with this enchanting place.

Then you move on your boat to the Turtle Beach (Iztuzu beach) facing the Mediterranean Sea. You can swim in the fresh water lake just beside the beach and if you are lucky enough, you can see turtles moving around the beach. The entire Marmaris Turtle Beach Tour moves across nature’s most pristine environment. The pick-up from the hotel, meals, entrance fees, river boats and guidance services are all included in the trip fee. Koycegiz is a cute touristic town famous with it's beautiful tectonic lake. Double-decked boats sail through beautiful lake and offers best possible combination of green & blue color. Being on this tranquil lake gives you mixture of rare feelings you possibly haven't felt for long. Koycegiz lake is 5200 hectares which makes it one of the vastest lake of Aegean region. This smooth lake is fed by Dalaman River and thermal springs offers life to many endemic flora and fauna such as loggerhead turtles, nile turtles, kingfishers, egrets, pine and sweetgum forests.

Sultaniye Mud Baths

Playing among the mud baths in Dalyan is great fun. Some say that you will feel ten years younger after visitng these mud baths. It is believed that taking a mud bath here, gives you some health benefits. Don’t worry !!! there are shower facilities nearby where you can clean-off all the mud on you before leaving from here.

Dalyan (Turtle Beach)

The Iztuzu beach is popularly known as the ‘Turtle Beach with Golden Sands’. This 7 km long stretch of shoreline is one of the last breeding ground for the extinct Loggerhead Caretta Caretta Sea Turtles. This very special beach stands right between the lake (freshwater) and Sea (salty water).

Famous Temple Tombs in Dalyan

During you sail from Koycegiz lake to Turtle beach, you will come across the famous temple tombs of the ancient city Caunos. We will stop right infront of these ancient tombs. While you are taking your pictures, your tour guide will explain you the history of these ancient graves dating back to 4th Cent BC.

We searched on the internet and we had the the best deals for excursions from Mares Travel. We had done lots of tours with Mares Travel, but the Dalyan tour from Marmaris was the best among all others . It was a great day out , we had a lovely boat trip in Dalyan , nature was really fascinating. I highly recommend Marmaris Dalyan Excursion to any body.

We had a lovely slow boat ride from Mamaris to Dalyan takes a couple of hours, the turtle beach and the mud bath was fun but be warned it stinks , so you better dont wear your best swimwear because you will be throwing it in the bin when you get back. Also the hot spring baths next to it was very pleasant and there are outside showers , so be sure to get a good wash before you leave the place.

We booked Dalyan & Koycegiz Lake trip online, which offered fantastic views and lots of wildlife. Koycegiz lake is a breathtaking place, made lots of pictures. This trip is a must, a relaxing day and lots to see.

If you are going to do a trip, this is a must seeing number one. The koycegiz lake, tombs, mud baths and the turtle beach are fantastic places to visit. A great day out !!! You will not be disappointed.

I recently spent a week in Marmaris – Turkey. I was astonished by the beauty of the natural environment and the exceptional friendliness of the people. Especially the staff at Mares Travel agency. My intinal contact was Cem/Gem, who was incrediblely hard working, friendly , helpful and full of smiles. Myself and a friend booked this excursion as our second out 0f 6 excursions with Mares. Mates were by fare the cheapest, but of exceptional quality., I looked around.

We were picked up on time, a driven to the boat through parts of Turkey I had never seen and arrived promptly at our beautiful traditional boat. Our rep was Mehmet (Bob!), he was absolutely amazing and I was lucky enough to have him as my rep on other trips. Mehmet was friendly, fun, enthusiastic (I am English, so to much enthusiasm can be annoying, not Mehmet he was fabulous!) he was excellent, knowledgeable and very through.

The trip itself was breathtaking, across stunning lakes and open rivers. It was the tip of paradise. Mehmet was full of knowledge and on hand for any queries. We past the Lycian Monuments, went to the mud bath , then to Turtle beach, saw a blue crap and a baby turtle, fished! Then back to port. It was incredible.

I highly recommend the tour, the travel agency and Turkey. Myself and friend were two lone female travellers and often travelled alone. We felt safe and looked after at every point of our trip. This trip was such good value. We were out for all day and had a nice lunch on the boat. We took a lovely boat cruise through the lake and the river – which was glorious! We also visited mud baths. They were very smelly – but very enjoyable.

As is always the case for us with Volkan’s trips, this was a lovely day out. It started well, with a delicious Turkish breakfast whilst cruising along the river and, as we progressed out to sea we were blessed with beautifully calm weather. We stopped at several little bays to swim and later were able to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the young captain’s mum. An afternoon swim was slightly interrupted by a bottle of Efes floating towards us on a tray – mine’s a Mojito next time please Volkan! The company on board was great, as was the crew. The captain’s father even dived overboard to recover our friend’s sunglasses from the seabed., much to his relief. Volkan has the knack of mixing people well and makes sure that no- one feels like an outsider, whilst respecting their need for their own space. You never feel hurried or hassled on any of his trips and this one is no exception. A lovely way to spend a day!

I know from previous trips to Dalyan what a great reputation Volkan’s has. Having just booked and paid via Paypal, I just wanted to share what fantastic communication and super quick responses I received from Lisa. Rarely do you ever experience customer service this good. Thanks Lisa and I look forward to two wonderful trips in July.

This was a lovely boat trip which visited some lovely bays for great swimming. The food was excellent as is always the case with Volkan’s trips and again as usual the staff all very friendly and helpful. A lovely day.

I did this trip in september 2020.it was a delightful day. The breakfast was really good and lots of it. The captain and his mate were very nice, and nothing was to much. They were very nice. The swim stops were very nice and beautiful scenery. Lunch was very fresh and again lots of it. It was a very chilled day and I would highly recommend it.

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It’s an absolutely wonderful day out visiting stunning bays only accessible by boat. Swimming in the crystal clear turquoise sea whilst admiring the beautiful scenery around you, it’s just magical. Complements to the captain and his wife for the outstanding quality of food provided for lunch. Thank you team Volkan’s Adventures for another fantastic tour.

I did the Devil’s bay boat trip in June 2022. It was brilliant. The boat is gorgeous and the Captain and his wife are a great team. We had the pleasure of Volkans mum as our guide, she was lovely. Food was brilliant. I loved all the swim stops.
