What is FIT And GIT in The Tourism

In the tourism industry, some travel terms can be a little bit confusing for tourists. For instance, FIT and GIT in tourism are such travel terms that people are mostly confused about. It is important to understand what FIT and GIT in tourism mean to avoid any future problems during your travel.

FIT (free independent traveler) definition:

FIT in tourism is an acronym for Free Independent Travelers. They are people who travel independently without being a part of any tour group. This type of tourism offers travelers an opportunity to travel on their own. As a free independent traveler, you travel without a tour operator and choose your accommodation, transportation, and other parts of your trip. You might take an organized package tour, but it is just you – not a group.

Examples of FIT Tour – Some examples of free independent travel are trekking, backpacking, bicycling, camping tourism, motorcycle touring, yacht traveling, etc.

GIT (Group Inclusive Tour) definition:

In GIT, you join other tourists for a Group Inclusive Tour and don’t have to worry about your accommodation, transportation, and other parts of your trip. A group of a minimum of 10 people travels together. These people can be related or non-related and usually book on the same travel arrangements. The group size is not defined by the number of travelers but by the size of accommodation reserved.

An important condition is that some people are responsible for the whole group, so it is possible to determine who will be the guide and travel organizer.

Examples of GIT Tour – Some examples of GIT are family tours, group tours to a monastery or a sightseeing place, etc.

FIT and GIT in the Tourism – Detailed Guide

Fit and git in the tour packages.

When you book a tour package, you should know what FIT and GIT mean. FIT is not defined in the package, which means that you will be traveling on your own. You are responsible for arranging all your travel arrangements – you will have to make reservations yourself. If you choose FIT, it also means that there are no refunds for any missed flights or accommodation bookings.

GIT is called a group inclusive tour, which means that you will travel with other tourists. When it comes to GIT, many different companies offer completely different conditions. The tour can be booked by 20 people or 50 people – the company decides how big the group should be. There is usually one organizing person in charge of the group size. This person has to ensure that all members are properly booked.

FIT or GIT?

Actually, it depends on your travel style. If you are not the type of person who is happy to travel with other tourists, FIT is perfect. However, if you don’t mind traveling with other people and you want everything to be arranged for you, GIT is the best choice.

Difference Between a FIT and GIT Package Tour

FIT and GIT package tours are different from many points of view, but the main difference comes from the number of people on a group tour.

Here are some main differences:

FIT Package:

  • This is suitable for a small number of people like couples or friends.
  • You have to be a free independent traveler who has the experience of traveling alone in different countries.
  • This is more secure and reliable for international travelers because all attention will be paid by the operator.
  • You will be provided with better accommodation and food facilities since there are fewer people in the group. This means you won’t have to share your room, dinner table or bathroom with other guests.
  • You also get one carrier instead of sharing it among many members of the group.
  • It also costs more than the GIT package.

GIT Package:

  • This is suitable for a large number of people like family or students / young people who are looking for adventure at a lower cost.
  • You will have to share your room with other guests, dinner table, tour carrier etc. Plus, you also do not have much freedom as you are not a free independent traveler.
  • You can get more facilities at a cheap rate than FIT Package tours.
  • You will have to share your tour carrier with other people in the group.
  • The rate depends on the size of the group.
  • It is more suitable for families, and students who want to have fun with other members of the group.

Is There Any Other Type Of Tour Package In Tourism?

Yes, besides FIT and GIT, there is also IIT(Independent inclusive tour), which is also quite popular in tourism industry.

FIT Travel: All About Independence

fit tour packages

TripSavvy /  Wenjia Tang

Originally, the acronym "FIT" stood for "foreign independent tour," but now it is most commonly used to describe a fully independent traveler or tourist. You might also see the term "FIT" used to mean "free independent traveler ," "frequent independent traveler," or "foreign independent traveler." All of these definitions share a keyword and concept: independent. These travelers almost always design their own itineraries and arrange their own travel plans—FITs do not travel with group tours or according to any schedule imposed by others.

FITs Shun Group Travel

Tourists who fit the definition of FITs usually travel solo ; in couples; or in small, intimate groups of friends or family. They range anywhere in age from millennials to retirees , but generally, they have above-average incomes that allow for independent travel, which can be more expensive than traveling with an organized group. But what all FITs share, by definition, is a desire to avoid mass tourism in favor of an individualized, independent approach. They tend to want to explore their chosen destinations on their own and at their own pace with an emphasis on enjoying the local food, architecture, history, and culture.

FITs Plan Their Own Trips

The huge rise in availability of all aspects of travel planning online, including even websites devoted to helping you learn how to plan travel , has made it easier for independent travelers to plan their own specialized itineraries and book their own transportation and accommodations. This diminishes their need for traditional travel agents, and this also makes packaged trips have less appeal. As a result, FITs are a quickly growing segment of the tourist market. First-hand travel information about destinations , transportation arrangements such as train and plane tickets , and hotel reservations worldwide are available at the click of a mouse for independent travelers.

FITs Sometimes Use Travel Agents

Although the "I" in FITs means independent, it sometimes could be advantageous to consult with travel professionals who are experienced in providing services to those who want to plan their own trips, especially for more exotic destinations. Doing so does not necessarily mean that independent tourists have to relinquish their, well, independence. As a result of the rise in popularity of independent and solo travel, travel professionals are adjusting their services accordingly. There are now agencies that specialize in customized trips for individuals  and small groups who want to choose their destinations and plan their own itineraries.

The traveling is still independent, but the planning benefits from the professional expertise and inside knowledge of a travel agent . And of course, it takes much less time than searching for all the information you need on your own.

An agent who specializes in FIT travel can help you plan custom sightseeing with a private tour guide, arrange a private cooking class or a wine-tasting tour , and even hook you up with knowledgeable local representatives. The agent will help you plan a personalized travel experience based on the input you provide. If you wish, an agent can often arrange to have someone meet you at your destination and take you to your hotel. Travel professionals are especially helpful in finding non-traditional or out-of-the-way accommodations that do not advertise on the internet, such as villas, farmhouses , inns, and family-run bed-and-breakfasts.

FIT: Free Independent Traveler

Definition of fit.

FIT stands for Free Independent Traveler. It refers to individuals who prefer to travel independently without being part of a tour group. As a FIT traveller, you have the freedom to plan and customize your trip according to your preferences. You can choose your own accommodations, transportation, and activities without relying on a tour operator.

Examples of FIT Tours

FIT tours encompass various forms of independent travel. Some popular examples include solo backpacking trips, self-guided tours, and customized itineraries. FIT travellers often seek unique experiences, off-the-beaten-path destinations, and the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Advantages of FIT Travel

FIT travel offers several advantages:

Flexibility : You have the freedom to design your itinerary and make changes as per your preferences.

Personalization : You can tailor your trip to your interests, choosing activities and destinations that align with your preferences.

Authenticity : FIT travel allows for a more immersive cultural experience, as you have the opportunity to interact with locals and explore local communities.

Independence : You are not bound by the schedules and constraints of a group tour, giving you the freedom to explore at your own leisure.

GIT: Group Inclusive Tour

Definition of git.

GIT stands for Group Inclusive Tour. In a GIT, travellers join a pre-arranged tour package where they travel with other tourists as part of a group. The tour package includes accommodations, transportation, and guided activities.

Examples of GIT Tours

GIT tours cater to travellers who prefer the convenience of travelling in a group. Examples of GIT tours include family vacations, organized group sightseeing tours, and adventure tours where participants share common experiences and activities.

Advantages of GIT Travel

GIT travel offers several advantages:

Convenience : All travel arrangements, including accommodations, transportation, and activities, are pre-organized, saving you the time and effort of planning.

Socialization : Traveling in a group provides opportunities to meet and interact with fellow travellers, fostering new friendships and shared experiences.

Guided Experience : GIT tours often include the services of a knowledgeable guide who provides insights and commentary about the destinations visited.

Cost Savings : Group tours can offer discounted rates and shared expenses, making them more cost-effective compared to individual arrangements.

IIT: Independent Inclusive Tour

Definition of iit.

In addition to FIT and GIT, there is another type of tour known as the Independent Inclusive Tour (IIT). IIT allows travellers to enjoy the benefits of group travel while still having the freedom to customize their itinerary.

Examples of IIT Tours

IIT tours are designed for travellers who desire some level of independence while still enjoying the convenience of group travel. Examples of IIT tours include small group tours with flexible itineraries, private guided tours with customizable activities, and themed tours catering to specific interests.

Advantages of IIT Travel

IIT travel offers a unique combination of group and independent travel:

Flexibility : IIT tours provide a balance between structured group activities and free time to explore independently.

Customization : Travelers can personalize their itinerary by choosing from a range of activities and destinations offered within the tour.

Social Interaction : IIT tours allow for socialization with like-minded travellers during group activities, providing opportunities for shared experiences.

Personal Attention : With smaller group sizes, IIT tours often provide a more personalized and intimate experience compared to larger group tours.

No, FIT tours are suitable for both solo travellers and small groups who prefer to travel independently.

Most GIT tours have scheduled activities, but some may offer free time for independent exploration. It’s best to check the tour itinerary before booking.

IIT tours can vary in price depending on the level of customization and services included. Some IIT tours may be more expensive, while others may offer cost-effective options.

GIT tours generally have fixed itineraries and limited customization options. If you seek more flexibility, an IIT tour may be a better choice.

There are typically no age restrictions for these tours. However, some specialized tours may have specific age requirements or activity limitations.

GIT tours are often preferred by families as they provide convenience, pre-arranged accommodations, and suitable activities for different age groups.

In conclusion, FIT, IIT, and GIT are terms used in the tourism industry to describe different types of travel experiences. FIT allows for independent and personalized travel, while GIT offers the convenience of group travel with pre-arranged arrangements. IIT combines elements of both, providing flexibility and customization within a group setting. Choosing the right type of tour depends on individual preferences, travel style, and desired level of independence. Consider your preferences, budget, and desired travel experience when selecting between FIT, IIT, and GIT tours.

What Is FIT and GIT in Tourism?

By Anna Duncan

Travel and tourism are vital components of the global economy. With the increasing trend of globalization and modernization, more people are traveling for business, leisure, and other purposes.

As a consequence, various tools and techniques have emerged in the tourism industry to enhance travelers’ experience. Among these tools are FIT and GIT.

What is FIT?

FIT stands for Free Independent Traveler. It refers to an independent traveler who travels alone or with a small group of friends or family without any assistance from a tour operator or travel agency. An FIT traveler makes all travel arrangements by themselves, including booking flights, accommodations, transportation, and arranging activities.

Advantages of FIT:

  • Flexibility: FIT travelers have complete control over their itinerary and can modify it according to their preferences.
  • Personalization: Travelers can customize their itinerary based on their interests and needs.
  • Cost-effective: FIT travelers can save money by avoiding unnecessary expenses that come with package tours.

What is GIT?

GIT , on the other hand, stands for Group Inclusive Tour. It refers to a tour package designed for groups of 10 or more people who travel together with a predefined itinerary arranged by a tour operator or travel agency. The package includes transportation, accommodations, meals, and activities.

Advantages of GIT:

  • Convenience: GIT travelers do not have to worry about making travel arrangements as everything is pre-arranged.
  • Cultural immersion: Travelers get the opportunity to interact with locals and learn about new cultures through group activities.
  • Safety: GIT travelers are less vulnerable to risks like theft or getting lost since they travel together in groups.

Differences between FIT and GIT

Despite being two different types of travel, there are a few key differences between FIT and GIT:

  • Flexibility: FIT travelers have more freedom to modify their itinerary, while GIT travelers have a fixed itinerary.
  • Cost: FIT travelers can save money by avoiding unnecessary expenses like those included in GIT packages.
  • Social Interaction: FIT travelers may find it challenging to meet new people, while GIT travelers get the opportunity to travel with a group and make new friends.

In conclusion

Whether you choose FIT or GIT depends on your personal preferences and travel style. If you prefer flexibility, personalization, and cost savings, then FIT might be the best option for you.

To help travel agents stay up-to-speed on the latest-and-greatest, here is a roundup of the newest offerings from the suppliers who participated in Travel Market Report’s latest survey.

African Travel African Travel is unveiling eight new itineraries for the new year, as well as several new enhanced journeys that feature new hotels, experiences and activities. One new trip offering is "Essence of Southern Africa," a safari vacation that visits Cape Town, Botswana and Victoria Falls. On a separate flying safari entitled "Deserts and Dunes of Namibia," travelers can explore the wildlife sanctuary of Etosha, scale the red iconic dunes Sossusvlei, and discover the rugged beauty of the Skeleton Coast.

Apple Vacations Apple Vacations recently kicked off its 50th anniversary and will be celebrating throughout 2019 with savings opportunities.

In addition, on Nov. 19, Apple Vacations made the switch to MyAppleOnline, powered by VAX VacationAccess. They are currently accepting bookings for travel after May 1, 2019, via the enhanced portal.

Avanti Destinations For 2019, Avanti has teamed up with a number of European rail operators and released a new brochure that will educate travel advisors on the benefits of choosing rail over air for their clients. "The Best Way to Explore Europe" e-brochure includes 26 customizable itineraries linked by rail throughout Europe, including 12 that are brand new.

Avanti also began emphasizing off-season travel to Europe and warm-weather winter vacations in Asia and Latin America, with Go365 itineraries. The 43 new customizable itineraries cost less than peak or shoulder season, and they provide a more authentic experience because there are fewer tourists at those times.

Blue Sky Tours Blue Sky Tours launched its Island Guide earlier this year. It also added the ability to manage contracted groups in VAX VacationAccess via the agent group dashboard. In 2019, the operator will have a “Year of Aloha” campaign with some of their top hotel suppliers; it will include sales promotions and hotel giveaways.

Brendan Vacations Dublin-based Brendan Vacations celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019, offering agents a legacy of experience and relationships that will serve them and their clients travelling to the Celtic Isles well. To celebrate, in the first quarter the operator will launch a new trade incentive program called TAP that is designed to educate, empower and arm agents wherever they are in the customer journey phase. Citing a growing demand for itineraries that appeal to multi-generational families, Brendan Vacations has introduced "Shamrocks & Leprechauns," a 10-day family trip to Ireland which will debut this summer. In 2019, Brendan Vacations will also continue its efforts to assist families seeking their Irish roots and heritage, offering personalized itineraries that follow their family's unique ancestry.

Eurobound Eurobound will be adding more nature-oriented travel to countries like Switzerland and Austria, where clients can combine luxury with outdoor pursuits. In Switzerland, the “Get Natural and More” itinerary combines hiking in Zermatt with spectacular scenery via the Glacier Express and luxe leisure time at the five-star Bürgenstock Spa Hotel. The Austrian theme is “The Best of Nature and Culture;” it is also a custom sample package which can be tailored to individual needs, but is offered at an affordable price.

Following this year's successful launch of the company's "Art, Food & Yoga" personally guided tour to Provence, Eurobound will expand the concept to Italy.

Europe Express The European wholesaler has introduced two new walking tours in Amsterdam. The “Red Light District Walking Tour” is a two-hour exploration of the city’s famous Red Light District and includes free admission to Red Light Secrets, the world’s only museum of prostitution. On the “Amsterdam Walking Tour,” clients can discover the best of the Dutch capital — from Dam Square to the Red Light District — and sample stroopwafels, herring, and other Dutch snacks.

On the new “Best of Italy” itinerary, guests learn how to make authentic Roman pizza; explore the jaw-dropping Cinque Terre; bike through the Tuscan countryside; and explore the ruins of ill-fated Pompeii.

Funjet Vacations Celebrating its 45 th anniversary, Funjet will enter new charter markets including Boston, Detroit, Indianapolis, Lansing, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Rockford. It will also offer agents a new uncapped, flexible commission. The “Set Your Own Commission” can be itemized or bundled into any package at the agent’s discretion.

GoWay Travel Goway Travel is welcoming 2019 with a new multi-day foodie tour plus biking tour through China; and a “Heli and Harley” tour in Southern Africa. New resorts and excursions enhance island itineraries from Greece to Tahiti. In Peru, guests can sleep hundreds of feet above the ground, secured on an Andean cliff face.

Luxury Gold Come 2019, Luxury Gold will introduce five new luxury guided journeys, bespoke independent holidays, and Chairman’s Collection experiences. On Bespoke Journeys, travelers can create their own tailor-made, independent itineraries in Greece, Ireland, Scotland and Africa.

Monograms (Globus Family of Brands) With its new YourWay format, Monograms takes the customization concept one step further by inviting travelers to choose the number of nights they wish to stay in select European cities. With Monograms YourWay, guests can design their stay from two to five nights in popular cities. On the heels of the program’s success in five cities, the tour operator has extended this option to Madrid and Barcelona for 2019.

With Globus, travelers can discover uncrowded England, Scotland and Wales on nine “Undiscovered Britain” tours, including seven new tours for 2019, ranging from 6 to 14 days.

For travelers looking for more of an á la carte option, the Globus family of brands’ new Cosmos Lite vacations offer the freedom to tailor each day according to individual travelers’ interests, budgets and pace.

Pleasant Holidays and Journese In the fourth quarter of 2018, both brands launched new destinations for 2019 vacations, including Hong Kong (Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories), Colombia (Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin), and the U.S. (Branson, Missouri; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Bar Harbor, Maine; and Savannah, Georgia). Pleasant Holidays also added new hotels, including more than 140 hotels to its U.S. and Canadian portfolio for 2019 travel.

New selling tools have also been introduced. Pleasant Holidays and Journese will reduce Caribbean and Mexico deposit requirements by 75 percent to $50 per person, from $200 per person. Both brands added Cruise Protection Plan Coverage for U.S. and European river cruise vacations; as well as for Caribbean, Alaska and Europe ocean cruise vacations.

Southwest Vacations Southwest Vacations will launch Hawaii in 2019. It also debuted several new programs in 2018, including Vacations Plus and Upgrade Bonus Commission. Additionally, advisors can now use unused Southwest ticketless travel funds as a form of payment toward a Southwest Vacations package.

TravelBrands TravelBrands has expanded its destinations, with more new hotels and resorts. In Europe, new locations include: Greece, Portugal, Iceland, Poland, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, and Cyprus. In Asia and Africa, TravelBrands is now offering: Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Morocco, and Egypt. Colombia and Australia were added, as well.

Travel Impressions Travel Impressions is now using the VAX VacationAccess booking portal by Trisept Solutions, after switching over this past fall, and they are working with agents to train them on how to maximize efficiency with the enhanced capabilities of the portal. This will be a big emphasis for 2019.

Travel Impressions is also adding Cuba tours with a targeted launch date of May 2019.

Additionally, Travel Impressions’ LoyalTI First rewards program will be enhanced in 2019 with the addition of a LoyalTI First Virtual Mall and, eventually, integration with other ALG brands’ loyalty programs.

United Vacations United Vacations has added new nonstop service for SFO/PPT (Tahiti). It also introduced uncapped, flexible commission, allowing agents to set their own commission to be itemized or bundled into any package at their discretion. The Agency Seat Incentive will continue for 2019, as well.

Yankee Leisure Group The group is the operator of three travel brands: Yankee Holidays, which offers American city packages; Amtrak Vacations, a branded rail vacation package product in partnership with Amtrak; and Railbookers, a service for booking European and international rail packages.

Railbookers has seen increased demand for pre- and post-river cruise options beyond the port cities, adding new rail excursions that extend the river cruise experience.

Amtrak Vacations, meanwhile, is producing new itineraries based on the demand of the customer, including “Grand National Parks with Yellowstone,” “Yosemite and the Grand Canyon,” and “Northern Rail Experience.”

If the word “safari” conjures up images of sitting in a jeep all day, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by Volcanoes Safaris , which takes travelers on gorilla trekking tours in Uganda and Rwanda. The gorillas live in thick forests, up steep mountains, and in other places inaccessible by vehicle, so be prepared to walk a lot. Charlotte Pokoik, who represents Volcanoes Safaris, advises, “Depending on where your gorilla family is located, the hike to get to them can take anywhere between 2 and 6 hours! Many parts of the hike are through thick forest at heights of up to 3,000 meters and visitors will be traversing steep-sided mountains and ravines so it’s definitely a work out.” The once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing these majestic creatures in the wild should be workout motivation enough to get in shape for the trip.

On Foot Holidays

Sure, anyone can lose weight when they’re isolated at a fitness retreat having healthy meals cooked for them and plenty of free time to exercise. But it can be a lot harder if you want to keep that wholesome lifestyle going once you leave. FIT vs Escorted Travel: Which is Right for Your Clients?

Written by: Michelle on March 20, 2019

fit tour packages

Two travelers can visit the same destination and have vastly different experiences depending on their travel styles and preferences. For instance, determining whether a FIT trip or an escorted tour means taking the time to qualify your clients , and figure out what they value about traveling. Do they want to have more activities included in the package, or is having a flexible schedule more important?

Read on to learn about the difference between FIT trips and escorted travel, and how to determine which is right for your clients.

fit tour packages

FIT is an abbreviation that refers to either “foreign independent tour” or “free independent traveler.” The key to both versions is the word independent. This means that the traveler or small group of travelers (less than 10 people) will be taking a trip that does not follow an itinerary preset by a travel supplier and will not have a set tour guide or leader. Their travel agent creates an itinerary of their flights, hotels, and transportation as requested, but the agent is the one who designs this trip, not the travel supplier.

For example, imagine a couple tells you they want to visit London. They ask you to book the flights, hotel, and provide them with information on the London Underground system. They want the freedom to decide each day where to go and what to see in the city. They may opt to take a tour of Westminster Abbey or the Tower of London, but they do not want to have their schedule for these activities set by the travel supplier. This type of self-determined trip is a FIT experience.

fit tour packages

FIT travel provides travelers with the benefit of flexibility and customization that they may not experience on an escorted tour. However, it can be harder for clients to budget for a FIT trip since it will not include meals, in-destination transportation, or sightseeing costs. Creating a custom itinerary usually means more time planning on the travel agent’s part. However, many agents enjoy planning FIT trips because they can work closely with clients to craft a tailor-made trip specifically for them. In some cases, travel agents can add excursions, sightseeing tours, and in-destination transportation if their clients request it.

fit tour packages

Escorted tours provide a more structured and inclusive option. These vacations are expertly designed, led by travel experts, and usually have preset dates and itineraries to choose from. These packages usually include the hotel, bus or rail transportation, some meals, and admission costs to the activities scheduled. Flights may also be included or available as an add-on option. In destination, your clients will join the larger group of their escorted tour, which will vary in size depending upon the supplier and the destination.

For example, imagine another couple tells you they want to visit London. They ask you to book the flights and hotel. They want to see all of the major highlights of the city, like Westminster Abbey, Hyde Park, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. They would also like to travel to Stonehedge and a castle if possible, but they don’t want to rent a car. They feel a tour guide would add value to their experiences at these locations and plan to use one. They want to spend their evenings seeing shows in London’s West End or enjoying a relaxing meal. To give them the best chance to see and do everything on their list, you should suggest an escorted tour.

fit tour packages

Escorted tours appeal to clients who want to see the best of a destination. The exclusive connections that tour operators have allow escorted tour groups to bypass long entrance lines and partake in experiences that are not available to the public. In many cases, these tours are fast-paced, allowing clients to see more and save time. Most tours keep evenings open and some even have free days to allow travelers to experience the destination at their leisure.

Clients may worry that an escorted tour is more expensive than a FIT trip, but in reality, a traveler on an escorted tour is a cost-effective way to travel. Because the price of escorted tours includes transportation, admission, and usually some meals, escorted tours allow travelers to anticipate the total cost of their trip before they even leave.

fit tour packages

Others may argue that escorted tours are only for retirees. Escorted tours cater to everyone, from millennial travelers and families to wellness travelers and foodies. For example, the Globus family of brands offers the Legacy of the Incas tour through Peru, which explore archaeological sites and traditional South American meals. The important thing to remember for agents is to match your clients to the right travel supplier and tour option to ensure they have an excellent escorted tour experience.

Trav Cut V2 Op

The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the biggest marathons in the world with close to 50,000 finishers every year, so don’t miss out! The atmosphere alone will get you through those 42.2 kilometres.

Run alongside amateurs, professional competitors and world record holders as you weave your way through the 5 boroughs of Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan, over 5 bridges and finish in the world renowned Central Park. The course is broken down as follows (description from Runners World):

Staten Island (Miles 1-2) Not much time is spent in Staten Island: only two miles. When the race starts, runners cross the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, which offers sweeping views of the New York Harbor and skyline, including the Statue of Liberty. The first mile is an uphill climb up the bridge, while the second mile is downhill, heading off the bridge to Brooklyn.

Brooklyn (Miles 3-12) These next 11 miles is run in the relatively flat streets of Brooklyn. Runners are able to enjoy the colourful quirks of each neighbourhood in the borough, from the trendy restaurants in Park Slope to the charming tree-lined streets on Lafayette Avenue to the lively crowds in Williamsburg.

Queens (Miles 13-15) Near the midpoint of the race, comes the Queensboro Bridge at mile 14. While the vantage point offers beautiful views, the climb up the bridge is tough, and the absence of spectators on this stretch can be mentally challenging. This section is quiet compared to the rest of the race.

Manhattan Part 1 (Miles 16-18) After descending the Queensboro Bridge onto Manhattan’s First Avenue, runners are swallowed by a swell of spectators. This is a flat, three-mile stretch.

The Bronx (Miles 19-20) Whilst crossing into The Bronx, the crowds have thinned from First Avenue. There are bands and dancers at the Entertainment Zone at 139th and Morris Avenue.

Manhattan Part 2 (Miles 21-26.2) The final 10K of the marathon is long and possibly painful but with the roaring crowds in the heart of the Big Apple, plus the final miles through iconic Central Park, the last push is worth it. From here it is a quick spin through Harlem and a run up Fifth Avenue, reaching the northern edge of Central Park around mile 23. The next mile is fairly flat along Fifth. Once inside Central Park around mile 24, there are a couple rolling hills. At mile 25 you’ll be surrounded by deafening crowds near Columbus Circle. Then it’s just two quick turns before the finish.

We at Travelling Fit have run the TCS New York City Marathon on many occasions and with many years of travel experience, both in organising and travelling to many amazing running destinations, so you can rest assured that you are in good hands.

Benefit from our first-hand experience by booking your Marathon travel package with us to include guaranteed TCS New York City Marathon entry, perfectly located accommodation, warm up run through Central Park, city tours, social functions and much more.

The Great Adventure

I truly enjoyed traveling with the group. Europamundo did a good job facilitating the trip. Though, we did have a little trouble keeping to the itinerary near the end. I would make a few changes to some of the highlighted stops in order to add in a little more free time.

Best of Central Europe Tour

Best of Central Europe

I though the Intrepid tour was fantastic. The group leader did a great job in looking after us and providing us with good orientation in all the countries we visited. The only point that could be improved, was in relation to accommodation. In Prague, five people were placed in the one hotel with one bathroom and toilet. This is not really ideal, however, when we raised this issue, our group leader went out of his way to provide an alternate accommodation for my husband and I. I felt that this was really good and we were very pleased with the outcome. The other tour participants were great and I recommend this to anyone who is interested in a great holiday. Thank you Zsolt.

Zagreb to Athens: Adriatic & Ancient Capitals Tour

Zagreb to Athens: Adriatic & Ancient Capitals

This trip was overall in one word... amazing. The destinations covered were amazing & beautiful. It was handy to have everything sorted out : the accommodation (mix of hostels & hotels), the transportation and many of the activities. Most of the places stayed did not have breakfast, but it was stated clearly that they wouldn't. Some of the places that had breakfast included a selection of breads, cereals and coffee - everything that you need. Croatia blew my mind.. The Croatia part of the tour was very in depth and I have a great idea of what the country is all about now & I also want to go back to see more in the future - The tour goes to cities, lakes, medieval villages, islands, beaches and has stops along the way to each usually. Note that on occasion there are stops along the way & the activity isn't always included in the tour.. I found that out the hard way in Albania. The transportation was a mix of using local transportation, personal buses and ferries. Note that in Albania MOST places do not accept credit card & we had troubles using the bank machines to take out cash.. Albania accepts the Euro as currency so make sure you have lots before you go (I also found out the hard way and didn't have any Euros as i Spent them in Montenegro) The groups for the tour are really what made the trip amazing.. Both groups were super friendly & alot of fun.. being a smaller tour and with the age restrictions it did make for a better trip because we were all around the same age, so had more in common! It was great having a smaller group too because we all became closer & spent even the "free time/Free days" together doing the activities. Our guide Marco was with us for both parts of the tour and overall he did a great job covering the information needed and I felt like we could always go to him if we had questions about anything. That was a part of the tour that I liked: knowing that I had someone to ask questions to who knows the area..Overall, HIGHLY recommend doing BOTH parts of this tour, as Many who didn't do the 2nd leg of the trip were super jealous and wishing they did! You won't regret doing this tour!!

What people love about Europe Tours

Great experience. Very fun.
The tour was awesome. Too bad it was short. Our Tour leader Noddy perform extremely well job organizing and controlling our big group so we was on time everywhere. Our driver Dennis professionalism is off the charts. Especially when we was driving through narrow streets of Italy. I would recommend this tour to others
Very good tour , something’s we didn’t find out right until the moment. But, overall good tour.
