CLARITY: PHOENIX SESSIONS 2-LP ANNOUNCED

The limited edition two-LP (Exotic Location Recordings) set was recorded live at the Icehouse art studio and warehouse in 2021 will now be available for the first time on vinyl. The two- LPs are pressed on translucent sun-kissed colored vinyl and the gatefold package includes never before seen photos by Steve Thrasher and personal notes from each band member.

This Phoenix Session of Clarity is our best attempt to play the album faithfully as who we are today. I would like to think we’ve learned a thing or two over since 1999. We’re grateful for the opportunity to document where the songs are now. And, thanks for coming along with us for the ride.

How we play songs evolves over time. One person adds an embellishment and then the next night someone else picks up on it and adds their thing with it. It becomes more or less cannon. The music from Clarity has had a couple decades of drifting around. Never getting into something we would describe as experimental. But definitely less representative of what we recorded back in 1998-ish. We were pretty sure we’d never have the resources to record “for real” again, so we threw everything we could think of into the recording of those songs.

Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins ready for ‘rabid’ My Chemical Romance fanbase on tour: ‘There’ll probably be a full back tattoo of Gerard Way’s face’

Jimmy Eat World are heading on tour with My Chemical Romance , and all is right with the world.

The emo renaissance has seen one of the most joyous reunions ever as MCR embark on a massive world tour, two years delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, after getting back together in 2019.

After an incredible UK tour which saw the Foundations of Decay rockers descend on Milton Keynes for multiple nights, as well as sold-out arenas across the island, the New Jersey natives are back in the US to continue the tour.

Next year, MCR will jet off to Australia for yet more carnage as they’re welcomed back with the sort of furious adoration the fandom is known for , and they’ll be accompanied with another staple of the scene.

Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins spoke to Metro.co.uk ahead of the When We Were Young festival taking place in Las Vegas, USA this weekend, where he reflected on the ’emo’ label as well as the changing demographics of their fans in the 30 years they’ve been making music.

As well as reflecting on the past, Jim spoke of his excitement to play with My Chemical Romance again, after the ‘disappointment’ of the pandemic cancelling their planned shows together in Japan.

‘I was really bummed out,’ he admitted.

‘Japanese fans are so loyal. It’s like, once they’ve decided “OK that’s my thing,” that’s their thing. I was so disappointed when the world took a dive and we lost out on that experience, to see what an Osaka My Chemical Romance die-hard fan is.

‘I can imagine a full back tattoo of Gerard’s face – I’m sure it exists. There’ll probably be a full back tattoo of Gerard’s face at When We Were Young though, I’m going to watch out for that.’

While the two legendary bands won’t hit Japan together, there’s still plenty to look forward to from the Australia shows, with Jim almost in awe of the connection Gerard, Mikey Way, Frank Iero and Ray Toro have with their fans.

‘I’m super excited… we’ve played with them before, before they broke up. I remember they were an incredible live band.

‘They developed a connection with the audience right off the bat when they were performing. People were rabid fans of them back then, I can only imagine what it’s like now. I’m so curious about watching what the crowd does.’

Jimmy Eat World themselves have a massive fanbase spanning generations, as young people connected with their tracks across their 29-year career.

But, as Jim put it, ‘we’re not really at the full back tattoo level of crazy fandom.’

The frontman has, however, seen his own face tattooed into a fan’s skin, and while it’s a ‘compliment’ to be looked up to in that way, he didn’t know quite how to react.

‘It’s like, “Dude, you did what? Really? Okay, I’m gonna go talk to them now,” he joked.

‘I understand what it feels like to be a rabid fan of somebody. I understand what it feels like to really look up to an artist, or be inspired by them. I know what that feels like.

‘So it’s a big compliment to be that person for somebody else. That being said… it’s weird! It’s just weird!’

Jimmy Eat World’s fanbase may not be as ‘rabid’ as My Chemical Romance’s, but they’re no less dedicated, with Jim telling Metro.co.uk that the fans who have been there from the start still come to shows – now with their grown-up children in tow.

‘In some ways it hasn’t changed at all because the same people who helped us promote shows and let us sleep on their floors in 1996 are still coming.

‘What’s changed is they have their 20-year-old kid with them now. That’s weird. It’s weird! We’re all about cradle-to-grave marketing here at team Jimmy Eat World.’

The band have just released their newest single, Place Your Debts, which delves into the idea of how ‘at any moment there is a cosmic number of other choices you could have made.’

‘It’s a getting older thing, but a younger thing, too. If you’re in your mid, late twenties, you’re always going to be thinking “I should have my s**t way more together.”

‘But that’s part of the waves you’ve got to ride, and eventually, you get to a place where you’re like “Oh yeah, this is what I’m doing – holy s**t, this is what I’m doing.”

Punk-pop pioneers Jimmy Eat World have announced several tour dates across the UK. This tour follows the release of their seventh studio album Damages .

After spending time in the UK performing at Download Festival and Radio 1 Rock Week (co-headlining with Queens Of The Stone Age ) the Damages tour will be a welcome return to the rock legends. Front man Jim Adkins had this to say:

Jimmy Eat World Announce UK/European Tour – Including 2000trees Headline Slot

Jimmy Eat World are headlining next year's 2000trees Festival as part of their upcoming UK and European tour.

Fresh from the release of their 4K-rated album Surviving , Jimmy Eat World have announced a whole bunch of UK and European 2020 tour dates.

As well as taking on Manchester's O2 Academy and London's O2 Academy Brixton in England next summer following an extensive European run, the band will also be headlining one of the UK's best independent festivals, 2000trees, on July 9.

“We don’t usually announce trees bands before Christmas, but having Jimmy Eat World as Main Stage headliner just got us too damn excited," says 2000trees booker James Scarlett. "I’m honestly absolutely certain this is going to be our biggest and best line-up ever. We have another 50-odd bands ready to go but I’m afraid you’ll have to wait until January for details. My advice is get your tickets now before it sells out!”

The rising Emo stars, who featured on the cover of last week’s NME, will perform a number of dates in March, before a larger string of shows in May and June – including the NME show at London’s Brixton Academy, tickets for which cost £12.50.

This is my first time seeing these guys live and they really put on a great show. Lots of energy for a group that's been around for awhile. Nice small venue that wasn't packed, also made this night enjoyable. Would see them again if they play within 2 hours of me.

Jimmy Eat World was awesome as usual. They are maybe the purest sounding band of their era. Their vocals are amazing, and the instruments sound great as well. The only issues I had last night were with the venue. They are not set up for a crowd of that size. The speakers were only on the stage, so from where I was on the lawn the sound didn’t carry out real well. Also, if Levitt Pavilion is planning on having big shows like that again they might want to increase their bathroom facilities. In summary, the band was great, but the venue not so much.

The Palace (formerly Flames Central) is my favorite venue to catch a show. It's very intimate and personal. You are RIGHT THERE with the artist.

As expected Jimmy Eat World blew the lid off the joint. I never thought I'd say it, but there were so many crowd surfers at this show! Jimmy Eat world really got the crwod going crazy, played nearly every song you'd ever want to hear. They seemed to be having a great time.

I know I did. This is my 4th Jimmy show and I can't wait to go again given the shot. Thanks for a fantastic time!!

Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra are officially on tour together!

The Amplified Echoes Tour kicked off a couple weeks ago with each act performing 70 minute sets each.

During the first show in Montana, Manchester Orchestra performed first and Jimmy Eat World closed out the night, though the order of their sets will change each night.

Jimmy Eat World is celebrating three decades as a band and 10 albums in their catalog. The tour will continue through the end of August.

Today, Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra announced their upcoming co-headline The Amplified Echoes Tour , produced by Live Nation. The 29-city run kicks off on Tuesday, July 11 in Missoula at Big Sky Brewing Company Amphitheater, with stops across North America in Los Angeles, Nashville, New York and more before wrapping up on Saturday, August 26 in Philadelphia at Skyline Stage at the Mann. Middle Kids will be joining the tour across all dates. 

TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with the Citi presale (details below) beginning Tuesday, March 14. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on sale starting Thursday, March 16 at 10am local time on livenation.com.

Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra have announced their upcoming co-headlining The Amplified Echoes Tour. The 29-city run kicks off on Tuesday, July 11 in Missoula at Big Sky Brewing Company Amphitheater.

Stops across North America include shows in Los Angeles, Nashville, New York and more before wrapping up on Saturday, August 26 in Philadelphia at Skyline Stage at the Mann. Middle Kids will be joining the tour across all dates.

Tickets will be available starting with the Citi presale beginning Tuesday, March 14. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on sale starting Thursday, March 16 at 10am local time.
