All-Day Charters or

Multi-Day Charters: If you are visiting Ketchikan for the Entire day or several days, Go Fish Ketchikan’s Charters All-Day and Multi-Day Charters are highly recommended. Clover Pass Resort is the preferred Charter Marina in Ketchikan as it’s so close to the best fishing grounds in the area.

ALL-DAY CHARTERS  allow you to set the schedule for your trip. Early morning usually offers the best fishing opportunities, and we should have enough time to fish for both salmon and halibut on the same day, weather permitting.

All-Day Charters include: All fishing gear, bait, tackle, snacks, soft drinks, and water is provided. Feel free to bring your own.

Trip Length: The typical fishing day starts at Clover Pass Resort at 06:30 and we will return 8-10 hours later.

Fish Processing: There is a variety of affordable options for processing your catch and getting it to your home. We can discuss all these options and the cost prior to your arrival.

MULTI-DAY CHARTERS WITH LODGING: Multiple days of fishing give us the opportunity to fish in different areas and make the most of your fishing and sightseeing opportunities. If you’re visiting Ketchikan for several days book our easy “All-Inclusive Multi-Day Charter” which includes your charter boat and captain.

I have taken care of finding the best lodging in our area and will take care of everything. Based on your group size and wishes, I will book your lodging with one of several comfortable, modern options close to the marina. I will make your reservations and deposits based on your schedule.

Lodging: Clover Pass resort is the preferred location north of town and is considered by many as the most professional marina operation in Ketchikan” There is a wide variety of lodging options close to Clover Pass Resort. I work closely with several nice properties- all of them a short drive or walk from Clover Pass Resort. Depending on the size of your group, length of stay and availability I will select the best location for your needs. All locations will have fully equipped kitchens, washer and dryer, internet/phone access, BBQ and a freezer.

The 6-hour trip gives you 50% more fishing time for only a bit more. The extra fishing time may provide enough time to fish for both salmon and halibut (weather permitting) Having extra time for sightseeing is great. The Ketchikan area has more bald eagles than anywhere in the world, as well as humpback whales, killer whales porpoises and sea lions. We see wildlife on every charter.

How your charter begins: You will call SOURDOUGH CAB COMPAY at 1-907-225-5544 to arrange your ride to Clover Pass Resort. The cabs can take up to 6 adults.

I will be waiting to meet you at Clover Pass Resort. The coffee will be hot and my boat will be clean are ready to go fishing.

Fishing Licenses: Alaska fishing license must be purchased online prior to your trip. The current license pricing can be found on the ADFG site

Your Catch:  Fish processing and shipping is available for your catch. I can provide all the details when we discuss your charter. ________________________________

PAYMENT AND DEPOSITS: I ask for a 20% refundable deposit to confirm your fishing date. Deposit is 100% refundable up to 30 days prior to your fishing date. Inside of 30 days, your deposit is refunded if I am able to re-book the date. Your balance is due on the day we fish. Charter rate does not include Alaska fishing licenses or tags, cab fare to/from Clover Pass Resort or fish processing. Payment is via cash, personal check or Visa M/C. Cruise Ship Guests Can Save Money

Here is where we try to talk you out of purchasing your charter fishing in Ketchikan trip from a more expensive fishing excursion on the ship and to book a private charter with us.

If you get one of the fishing excursions from the ship, you will pay way more and not know very much about it.

You’re not going to know things like the condition of the boat or gear, its size, the number of downriggers or how many fishing poles will be used at one time is it clean, is there a toilet, etc.

You will get on a bus with the other people that are going fishing, driven to the dock where you will be grouped up with others that will be in your fishing group and taken to the boat.

In most cases, there will be six of you on the boat. But in some cases, it could be more. It can still be fun, but you also have to share the fishing poles. If the boat should only catch a few fish, you may not get to be one of the lucky ones. In my opinion, this is all about the bottom line and not what is best for the customer. I can only think of one case where this works out in your best interest, and that is if you’re the only one in your group that wants to go fishing because all of the charter boats have a two – four-person minimum.

Fishing with Captain Mike was one of the best fishing experiences of my life. We quickly limited out on decent sized halibut. We were reeling in 3 coho at the same time. Lots of fun fishing.

We had an amazing time on our 2 day charter on the Alaska Catch with captain Chris! He was so helpful and such a cool guy. The boat was so nice! It was our 1st time fishing in Alaska and we can’t wait to go back next summer! We HIGHLY recommend the Alaska Catch! You won’t regret it!

We had such a great day of fishing! Captain Joey was great! He knew where to take us to find fish and his sense of humor made it extra fun! We did a combo salmon and halibut charter and all six of us caught a lot of fish that we’re shipping home to enjoy.

We were limited by the time our cruise ship was in port, but that didn't stop Joey from putting us on fish! He worked very hard to keep us in the bite. We caught multiple species: Coho and Pinks, a couple Ling Cod and Rockfish that had to be thrown back and the tiniest halibut also thrown back to grow bigger.

We couldn’t have been happier with our trip and fishing for salmon in Ketchikan. Captain Teddy picked us up from our cruise ship, and we walked to the boat to go fishing. Captain Teddy knew right where the fish were and how to catch it hen. We had two in the boat in less than 10 minutes! After under three hours of fishing, we had 14 fish in the boat with 11 pinks, one chum, one silver, and a huge 30 lb king.

We had an awesome time on our halibut charter with Chris! We caught our limit, he definitely knows what he’s doing. Awesome smooth experience from booking with Mike all the way to the end of the charter. A great addition to our yearly trip to Ketchikan and look forward to booking again!

Have you ever dreamed of fishing in protected, calm waters?

Ketchikan Alaska, known as the Salmon Capital of the World, is your best chance to catch fresh Alaskan salmon or halibut. No big waves! Ketchikan’s location along the inside passage is called the Tongass Narrows. It is a protected waterway that is seven miles long and over a mile deep in places and offers some of the best salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska. Not to mention top-notch sightseeing opportunities abound. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a fishing trip or a wildlife tour. Chances are you will get some great photos. Do not forget the camera. Getting ready to go.

Before Setting out from Ketchikan, your Captain will get ready by giving you a quick safety brief. IE: Start and stop the fishing vessel and steer to find all the gear for safety flares, medical and life vests. And how to hail the US Coast Guard on the marine radio. Channel 16.

The Captain also gets all Alaska state fishing licenses filled out and collected in USD. All guests ages 16 and older must have a state of Alaska fishing license. As you head to the fishing spot, there is a seven-knot no-wake zone to navigate. Travel time only takes about 20 minutes. At that point, it is time to fish for Alaskan salmon. With your Ketchikan fishing excursion, your experienced Coast Guard-licensed captain will answer your questions about fishing and the local Ketchikan area. Depending on the time of year you are in Ketchikan, Alaska, these are the four Alaska salmon we fish for out of five Alaskan salmon species. King, silver, pink, and chum salmon are the runs that abound in Alaskan Tongass Narrows’ sheltered waters.

About your captain:

All our certified Ketchikan fishing captains have learned exactly what catches any of these salmon or halibut over the many years fishing the Ketchikan Alaska Tongass Narrows. As you start to fish, the Captain will take care of everything. He will get all the bait, lures, and downriggers set up for you. On the longer Halibut fishing trips, the distance you travel before fishing will vary as it takes a little longer to get to these spots.

How we catch all the best salmon:

All local Alaskan fisher Men & Women trolls and uses downriggers. A downrigger is a device used while fishing using the trolling method; this gets the bait or lures down to the fish’s depth. A downrigger is similar to a small winch with a two to a five-foot adjustable pole or boom that carries a lead cannonball shaped weight, commonly 12 to 20 pounds, by a stainless steel cable (Or Heavy Duty Braided Downrigger Line). A clip, also known as a release, attaches a fishing line to the cannonball or steel cable above the lead weight. And allows the bait or lure to attract and excite the fish in just the right way.

The pole is Placed in a pole holder until the fish bites the hook. When the fish bites the hook and pulls the line out of the clip, the pole flips up. You lift the pole straight up out of the pole holder, and it is you and the fish. (sometimes it may need to be pulled out of the release). It is sometimes a problem for guests to feel they are fishing when they are not hanging on to a pole. However, this is the only way to catch Alaska salmon.

What you may see:

Even though this is a fishing charter, there is an excellent chance to see some local wildlife. Birds – whales, seals, sea otter, porpoise, sea lions – Might be surprise guests. Ketchikan’s Majestic bald eagles fly overhead, and at times they may swoop down near your boat, fishing for its catch of the day and allowing you a stellar Alaska wildlife photo opportunity.

With this Ketchikan charter, All Fishing gear, tackle, and bait needed to catch your Alaskan salmon or halibut, soda, and water, and, of course, raingear, Although you may bring your light rain jacket and be more comfortable.

Our business North Pacific Charters is locally owned, owner-operated, and we have over 27+ years in the fishing industry in Ketchikan, Alaska. This fishing adventure takes place on an average thirty-foot in length US coast guard safety inspected charter vessel. All have inside heated cabin space and a private restroom and plenty of deck space for up to six people. Soda, water, and raingear are onboard every vessel. This adventure is a High-quality, enjoyable trip that is customizable to your needs.

My name is aaron ramirez and i am the owner and operater of ketchikan fishing expeditions..

Aaron was born and raised in the Sierra Nevada mountains of central California. From a young age he developed a love and passion for hunting and fishing that surprised even his parents who were avid outdoors people themselves. From offshore fishing the California coast to hunting mule deer in the high sierra, Aaron left no stone unturned and no adventure as a mere dream.

The need for adrenaline and excitement didn’t stop at fishing, hunting, and winter sports. Through high school and college Aaron rode bulls competitively in the CCPRA (California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association). This was a way to make some money and scratch the adrenaline itch while pursuing his bachelors degree at California State University, Fresno. Through this community Aaron met a good friend who would lead him to Alaska and a new adventure.

After a few conversations with this new friend a goal was made, Aaron was going to secure his captains license and head to Alaska to try his hand at professional guiding. This was no small feat while pursuing a degree, rodeo, work, and balancing a social and family life. Over the next year Aaron studied and acquired the last of his needed sea time to qualify for the USCG exam. Just a few months before he was due in Alaska the goal was completed and he had a USCG 50 Ton Masters License. 

This was now over ten years ago and Aaron has continued pursuing his outdoor passions to the fullest. This is what makes him the captain and guide that he is. Not only does he have the intimate knowledge of the waters surrounding Ketchikan after a decade of guiding and thousands of days on the water but he knows how to help his guests immerse themselves into nature in a way that will leave them wanting more.

Water and light snacks are provided on board for your trip. If you do have any special requests for certain snacks or drinks (within reason) please make sure you make them known in advance at the time of booking.

Please bring your own Dramamine/Bonine/Queeze-Ease/Patch for seasickness (if you’re affected or even concerned about it), rain gear, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, binoculars, and cameras.

I do ask if there are any underlying medical issues such as walkers, leg braces, knee issues, back issues, or any impediments that would require special assistance getting on or off the boat, or special awareness while underway that you please disclose that at the time of booking so I can do my best to accommodate your group.

Capt. Ryan Cunningham has been a licensed USCG captain for over 12 years. Professional Guiding, Commercial Fishing, and Commercial Diving all across the world. I am active in our Board of Fish meetings as well as an advocate for the Sustainable Future Fisheries movement in SouthEast Alaska. Alaska is truly the last wild Frontier we have left and it’s going to take loud voices and education to keep our fisheries sustainable!

Things happen and sometimes plans change. I offer a refundable deposit policy within 36 hours of your trip. Your deposit holds your trip in place, and if a cancellation occurs it leaves me enough time to re book your spot. No call, No shows will not be refunded.
