Sophie Ellis-Bextor plans Christmas Kitchen Disco Tour for 2023

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is launching a Christmas Kitchen Disco Tour in 2023.

The 43-year-old pop star - who turned her kitchen into a disco amid the COVID-19 lockdown - has confirmed that she will travel around the UK as part of the tour, which begins in Bexhill on November 23.

Sophie performed her Kitchen Disco Tour in sold-out venues across the country earlier this year, and her show at the London Palladium has even been released as a 24-track live album, called 'Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Kitchen Disco: Live at the London Palladium'.

The show featured tracks such as 'All Night Long', 'Dancing Queen' and 'Murder on the Dancefloor', Sophie's 2001 hit single.

The pop star's upcoming tour will also feature some of her best-known pop hits, as well as some festive classics.

Sophie - who is set to release her seventh studio album in 2023 - will visit various cities across the UK as part of the tour, including Liverpool, Cardiff and London, before finishing at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on December 14.

Sophie performed weekly Kitchen Disco concerts during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

And the pop star - who used to perform live on Instagram every Friday night - admitted at the time that she was keen to perform for a live audience.

Sophie added: "I’m lucky as a creative person that I get to interpret the things that happen in my life and make them part of what I do next.

"And I can’t imagine not incorporating the kitchen discos, because it’s been so defining, not just for me, but for my whole household."

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced her ‘Christmas Kitchen Disco' tour for 2023.

The 2023 tour kicks off in Bexhill, before heading all around the country including a date at the London Eventim Apollo. It will feature hits from throughout Sophie’s career, as well as some very festive classics, all in Sophie’s own seasonal disco style.

Earlier this year, Sophie brought her ‘Kitchen Disco' Instagram phenomenon to the stage for the first time to huge success, including a sold-out finale at the London Palladium. 

The London Palladium show was recently released as a 24-track live album: ‘Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Kitchen Disco: Live at the London Palladium’. The setlist featured disco classics such as,  ‘ All Night Long’ and ‘ Dancing Queen’, as well as Sophie’s own floor-filling hits including ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’, ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’, ‘Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me)’, and her most recent Radio 2 A-listed single,  ‘ Hypnotized’ featuring Wuh Oh.

Sophie will also be releasing her seventh studio album in 2023. Fans who pre-order the limited edition signed CD format from her Official Store will get exclusive pre-sale access to tickets from the 5th December.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor will return to the stage in 2023 for her ‘Christmas Kitchen Disco’ tour.

“I am so excited to share with you that the Kitchen Disco is hitting the road again, but this time we’ll be taking Christmas with us.,” she penned in an announcement.

“Yes – a Christmas kitchen disco UK tour for Nov/Dec 2023! I’m already so excited to bring the festive party fun – hopefully to a town near you! Xxx.”

In addition to the tour, Sophie will also be releasing her seventh studio album in June, with pre-orders of the signed CD coming with exclusive pre-sale access to tickets.

Tickets for the ‘Christmas Kitchen Disco’ tour go on general sale from December 7 at 10 am GMT.

Celebrating her recent run of shows, Sophie released her ‘Kitchen Disco – Live at the London Palladium’ album, featuring her biggest hits and select cover versions from the concerts.

In a review of the album, Retro Pop said the live LP showcases “not only Sophie’s versatility as a performer, but also her love of music across the board, drawing on her favourite cuts from across the decades.”

The 'Murder On The Dance Floor' singer will headline venues in Newcastl, Manchester, Cambridge and more next winter

British pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced a run of 2023 UK tour dates. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday 7 December.

The Christmas Kitchen Disco Tour will kick off on Thursday 23 November at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill On Sea before calling at venues in Southend, Newcastle, Manchester, Cambridge, Ipswich, Liverpool, Sheffield and London.

Throughout December, the Christmas tour will hit Guildhall in Portsmouth, G Live in Guildford, Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, the Barbican in York and St Davids Hall in Cardiff before concluding with a show at Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

The shows are inspired by the Kitchen Disco Live shows that the singer did on Instagram during the Covid-19 lockdown in the UK. In 2020 she released Songs From The Kitchen Disco: Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Greatest Hits .

Following on from the huge success of her 2022 Kitchen Disco Tour in which she brought her lockdown online sensation from her kitchen to sold-out stages across the country, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced a very special Christmas Kitchen Disco tour for 2023.

The 2023 tour will feature hits from throughout Sophie's career, as well as some very festive classics, all in Sophie's own seasonal disco style.

Earlier this year, Sophie brought her Instagram phenomenon to the stage for the first time to huge success, including a sold-out finale at the London Palladium.

The London Palladium show has also recently been released as a 24-track live album: 'Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Kitchen Disco: Live at the London Palladium'. The setlist featured disco classics such as, 'All Night Long' and 'Dancing Queen', as well as Sophie's own floor-filling hits including 'Murder on the Dancefloor', 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)', 'Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me)', and her most recent Radio 2 A-listed single, 'Hypnotized' featuring Wuh Oh.

Following the huge success of her 2022 Kitchen Disco Tour, in which she brought her lockdown online sensation from her kitchen to sold-out stages across the country, Sophie Ellis-Bextor announces a very special Christmas Kitchen Disco tour for 2023!

The 2023 tour, which kicks off at DLWP, will feature hits from throughout Sophie’s career, as well as some very festive classics, all in Sophie’s own seasonal disco style.

The Arts Desk commented that Sophie’s Kitchen Disco live show “truly felt like you were dancing your cares away with some friends”, whilst the Mail on Sunday called it “warm and relatable”.

The Daily Telegraph proclaimed that it was   “An unabashedly feelgood echo of lockdown”.

The London Palladium show has also recently been released as a 24-track live album: ‘Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Kitchen Disco: Live at the London Palladium’. The setlist featured disco classics such as, All Night Long and Dancing Queen , as well as Sophie’s own floor-filling hits including Murder on the Dancefloor, Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me) , and her most recent Radio 2 A-listed single, Hypnotized featuring Wuh Oh.

In addition to Sophie’s Christmas Kitchen Disco UK Tour for 2023 comes the news that Sophie will also be releasing her seventh studio album in 2023. Online: Tickets booked online are subject to booking fees when purchased through our website. E-tickets are emailed instantly on the account you have registered with DLWP, please check your Junk folder if they don’t arrive within 30 minutes. Customers can also download their tickets through our website within ‘My Account’.

In Person : There are currently no charges for booking tickets in person.

There is a £2 charge to post tickets.

Please note that we are only able to post tickets within the UK. If you live overseas please select box office collection or print at home tickets. Tickets purchased for post will be sent 10 – 14 days before the show date.

On the night: If you have pre-booked please come to the bar to order from the gig menu and sit at one of the reserved tables.

Please be aware that we operate no re-entry for gigs. This means that once you have entered the building, you cannot go out and re-enter. This policy is in line with other major music venues across the UK and put in place on police advice. No re-entry is clearly signposted as you come through security on the front door. There is a fenced-off area on the terrace for people who go out to smoke or vape.

There are plenty of welcoming and good value B&Bs & boutique hotels in Bexhill. The De La Warr Pavilion regularly uses the following:

• By Car If driving from the London area: Take the M25, then A21 to Hastings. Turn off at John‘s Cross and follow the signs to Bexhill. OR Take the A22 to Eastbourne, go across the Bishop roundabout to the A271 and follow the signs to Bexhill and the seafront. The De La Warr Pavilion is on the Marina. From the Brighton area: Follow the A27 out of Brighton until you arrive in Bexhill On Sea.
• Parking Please be aware the Rother District car park outside the De La Warr Pavilion operates paid parking until 7pm. After this time parking is free.

Within the limits of this Grade One listed building, the De La Warr Pavilion strives to be fully accessible with a range of facilities to support your visit.

Assistance Dogs are permitted into the building.

No one takes fun quite as seriously as Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Backed by a versatile six piece band, the Kitchen Disco Tour returns in 2023 for a night of reimagined pop classics, highlights from her own discography and even a generous helping of Christmas spirit.

The 43-year-old pop star, who turned her kitchen into a disco amid the COVID-19 lockdown, saw huge success with the 2022 Kitchen Disco Tour in which she brought her lockdown online sensation to stages across the country, including a sold-out finale at the London Palladium. This tour featured tracks such as ‘All Night Long’, ‘Dancing Queen’ and of course, ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’, Sophie’s 2001 hit single.

2024 welcomes the third region-inclusive cast to tell the story of Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker as they battle the Mouse King and his army of menacing mice before venturing to the land of sweets. Through this uniquely fun narrative ballet,  Moscow Movement Arts Center offers community-centered performance opportunities for students of all ages to develop personal artistry and expression while gaining valuable experience and life-long memories. 

What is The Nutcracker ?

The Nutcracker , Russian Shchelkunchik, made its world premiere in  St. Petersburg, Russia in 1892 and is the last of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's three ballets. The story of The Nutcracker is loosely based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann fantasy story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King , about a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. Hoffmann’s story is darker and more troubling than the version that reached the stage; the Imperial Russian Ballet choreographer Marius Petipa chose to follow a light adaptation of the story written by Alexandre Dumas père. The ballet’s big success still lay in the future–during the Cold War, when the Russian ballet, thanks to a Russian choreographer, became an American Christmas tradition.  George Balanchine, helped make the ballet popular in North America. during his success in the early 20th century. Balanchine had been working in ballet in the United States for many years when his company, Ballet Society, performed a version of the Nutcracker in New York in 1955 that became the template and inspiration for all versions performed across North America in the decades since.

Do I need to be an M-MAC student to audition/be cast?

You do not need to be a student at Moscow Movement Arts Center in order to participate--all are welcome! Any interested participant has a multitude of ways available in order to get involved. Whether you are a student in our classes throughout the week or not, if you have a curiosity and/or a desire to join us--welcome, welcome!

Do you allow double-casting?

With over 150 available roles (!), it is possible to be double cast. You are not required to be double cast, but if you are a performer at heart and have an interest in performing in both acts--let us know!

Do I need to attend all rehearsals?

Attendance at rehearsals is vital for the individual dancer. It is the time in which repertoire is learned, committed to memory, and polished it with fellow cast-mates. When a dancer misses rehearsal, it not only puts them at a disadvantage, but it has an impact on their fellow dancers. It is therefore extremely important that dancers attend all scheduled rehearsals.

Does it cost money?

There is no fee to audition, there is a participation fee once cast. Participation Fees are dedicated to the purchasing and maintenance of costumes, venue rental, run crew, etc. For those seeking to offset the cost of performing, we offer financial assistance as detailed below.

Is there financial assistance?

Yes! Inclusivity and accessibility are at the forefront of our value system at MMAC, so it is important to us to offer alternative avenues that enable participation while easing financial stress. Work/Study Scholarship A discounted performance fee of $45 is assessed in combination with volunteer support duties.  In 2022 and 2023 we have been able to offer over 15 full scholarships  with the support of our fundraising efforts.
