The 2022 Ladies European Tour season is set to present the greatest number of tournaments and prize money in the organisation’s 44-year history and includes a return of the Women’s Irish Open. Thanks to the support of new and long-term partners, LET members will compete for a minimum of €24.5 million across 31 events in 2022. The total annual purse is up €4.5m on 2021 and offers €13m more than in 2019.

“On the back of a strong 2021 season, which featured 23 tournaments, 2022 is going to be a record-breaking year for the LET with the largest total purse and number of events in history,” said LET CEO Alexandra Armas. “We will be launching new events in Asia and South Africa and returning to various territories across Europe and further afield, so it’s looking very exciting for our international membership.

“We have never had such incredible support from partners across the industry and corporations who see the value in investing in the LET. Our players continue to set new performance standards. For example, this year’s Race to Costa del Sol winner, Atthaya Thitikul, reached No.18 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, an amazing achievement which shows what is possible by playing on the LET. The victorious European Solheim Cup Team did women’s golf proud in Toledo, Ohio, winning for only the second time in the United States. We are thankful to all of our partners as we move into the third year of our successful joint-venture partnership with the LPGA.”

The 2022 season will open with the return of the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in February, followed by the Aramco Team Series – Asia. The Joburg Ladies Open will debut in Spring, joining the Investec South African Women’s Open, which will move to Steenberg Golf Club in Cape Town, as part of a fortnight in South Africa. The LET will then return to Australia for a two-week swing with the Australian Ladies Classic Bonville and the Women’s New South Wales Open at Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club.

Europe will play host to 19 tournaments from May to September, with the return of the Madrid Ladies Open, The Mithra Belgian Open and the Women’s Irish Open, set for a venue yet to be confirmed from September 22-25.

The highlights will include the Scandinavian Mixed hosted by Henrik and Annika at Halmstad Golf Club, the Aramco Team Series – London and the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande.

The mid-summer European swing will feature two major championships, starting with the Amundi Evian Championship in France in July. The first week in August, a fortnight later, will bring the much-awaited AIG Women’s Open, which will be played at Muirfield in Scotland for the first time, with an elevated purse of US$6.8 million.

The Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, played during the week in between the majors, will offer an elevated purse of US$2 million, up US$500,000 on 2001.

The ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf Management, played after the AIG Women’s Open, will be one of the most innovative events in world golf. Two tournaments, featuring men and women, play on the same courses at the same time for two equal prize funds of US$1.5 million.

In September, the Tour will visit two first-time venues: Ålands Golf Club for the Åland 100 Ladies Open and Barrière Golf Club in Deauville for the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.

For the final quarter of the season, the LET revisits the United States, India, Dubai and Saudi Arabia for the Aramco Team Series – New York, Hero Women’s Indian Open, Dubai Moonlight Classic, Aramco Saudi Ladies International and Aramco Team Series – Jeddah, respectively.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España will once again play host to the season-finale, with the €650,000 event deciding the season’s Race to Costa del Sol, which is back for a third year after Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul topped the rankings in 2021. The ‘Race’ will offer a bonus pool of €250,000 between the top three finishers on the official rankings, with prizes of €125,000, €75,000 and €50,000 for the players who finish in first, second and third place.

TIPSPORT CZECH LADIES OPEN 2022: Lady golfers looking forward to a record-breaking year

The Tipsport Czech Ladies Open is again one date on the record-breaking Ladies European Tour 2022 calendar, with 31 tournaments and prize money of 24.5 million euros up for grabs .

The biggest event in ladies golf in the Czech Republic will take place on 24-26 June 2022 , for the fourth time in a row now, and for the third time at  Beroun Golf Club. More than 200,000 euros are at stake, meaning more than 5 million koruna in prize money for the best professional lady golfers. The Czech Republic is one of 21 host countries in this year’s tour.

“The Tipsport Czech Ladies Open 2022 has been able to hold on to the same excellent date as last year. I am pleased that the Ladies European Tour will have a record-breaking year in many ways and that we can be a part of it,” said promoter Luboš Koželuh, owner of Premier Sports. “I am also pleased to be following on from the million-dollar Scandinavian Mixed tournament in Sweden and the Aramco Team Series in England. We can therefore expect considerable competition among the players in Beroun.”

The promoter expects up to ten Czech professionals and amateurs to start and is looking forward to seeing a new champion in Beroun. After all, the two previous champions, Dane Emily Kristine Pedersen (2020) and Thai Atthaya Thitikul (2021), earned an American LPGA card at the end of last year. The first winner of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open was Carly Booth from Scotland.

“There are nineteen tournaments in the European part of the LET,” said Luboš Koželuh in reminding us of the expansion of the playing calendar in 2022, when two new events have been added and eight more are returning. This season will be a record-breaking one in the 44-year history of the Ladies European Tour , both in terms of the number of tournaments and the prize money involved. Prize money, in fact, has risen by 4.5 million euros on 2021, and a colossal 13 million on the 2019 season.

“New tournaments will be played in Singapore and South Africa this year. What is more, we will be returning to different places around Europe. This stems from the massive support provided by our partners, who see the rising value of investing in the LET. Thanks to the LET, Atthaya Thitikul, last year’s winner of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open and top of the Race to Costa del Sol season standings, made it up to 18th in the world rankings. This shows the opportunities that the game offers on the European circuit,” said Alexandra Armas , CEO of the Ladies European Tour before the third year of the LET-LPGA joint venture.

Czech players too will be competing throughout the season, and as it would seem, in unprecedented numbers. Tereza Melecká  and  Kristýna Napoleaová made it through to the lower category at a recent qualifying school in Spain. Sára Kousková reached the highest level, but will play as an amateur in university tournaments overseas until May, with her involvement in the tour after turning professional in June currently being addressed.

Klára Spilková also recently expressed an interest in playing selected tournaments; Šideri Váňová , meanwhile, is still part of the lower player category from previous seasons. Young professional  Tereza Koželuhová is also expected to start in the European part of the tour.

The LET 2022 season will begin on February 10 in Kenya and will continue in Singapore, South Africa, and Australia in the spring. The key period on the tour is the series of 19 tournaments in Europe already mentioned, running from May to September and including the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. Tournaments will then be played in the USA, India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Spain at the end of the year. The LET currently has 316 players from 36 countries.

Caroline Hedwall claims seventh LET victory whilst Linn Grant caps of a fantastic season by winning the Race to Costa del Sol

Caroline Hedwall is back in the winner’s circle for the first time in four years after winning the season-ending Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España.

The Swedish star was locked in a battle on 18-under-par with Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux after regulation play, the duo headed for a playoff and after playing the 18 th hole three times they went to the 17 th hole.

It was a hole where Hedwall has had success all week and she made the green in two and sunk her birdie putt to win her seventh LET title.

Watch the play-off here:

“It just feels awesome, it feels forever that I have waited for that win,” she said. “I wasn’t sure I still had it in me. It’s so nice to get it together and get this win.

“It has been a rollercoaster to be honest, I had an injury in 2014 that was really tough on me, and I had a hard turn on my self-confidence. That win in 2018 meant a lot to me.

“It was tough during Covid-19, I didn’t want to travel as much but now it’s more or less back to normal and it feels great. My game is coming together really nicely, and it was awesome to finish with that.”

Hedwall had a very consistent week with rounds of 70 (-3), 68 (-5), 69 (-4) and 67 (-6) to finish on 18-under-par.

The 33-year-old produced her best round of the week on the final day and was bogey-free rolling in six birdies on Sunday.

She continued:

“I have been hitting my driver really well the last couple of weeks and I could take advantage of the par-fives here and reach and two-putt for birdies and even make a couple of eagles. It’s been great, I have really enjoyed playing this golf course, it was a lot of fun.

“I wasn’t sure I still had it in me, and I think I just showed myself I can, and the 2023 Solheim Cup will be a goal for next season.”

Metraux, who won the Ladies Italian Open earlier in the season, produced a final round of 69 (-4) with four birdies to finish level with Hedwall and ultimately second overall.

Linn Grant caps off a fantastic rookie season

Linn Grant OOM winner

Sweden’s Linn Grant produced an excellent final day of 65 (-8) to secure third place on 17-under-par at Alferini Golf.

The four-time LET winner was bogey-free in her fourth round with three birdies on her front nine, before rolling in a further three on the back nine and an eagle.

She said: “It was very exciting. I came off yesterday quite frustrated, so it was nice to play a solid round today and I didn’t really think about it much until the 17 th when I happened to eagle. All of a sudden, I was in the lead. I’m happy with my round and the tournament.

With her third-place finish, Grant clinched the 2022 Race to Costa del Sol title having capped an incredible rookie season.

She added: “I am just very relieved, very happy. This is huge for Swedish golf, having Johanna as well as number three on the rankings. I’ve had Carro [Hedwall] as a role model myself to just see her out there winning and getting that moment for herself is awesome as well.”

Ireland’s Leona Maguire finished in fourth place with a total of 16-under-par, England’s Alice Hewson and Spanish amateur Cayetana Fernandez were one shot further back in fifth on 15-under.

Three players shared seventh place with Sweden’s Maja Stark alongside Spanish duo Carlota Ciganda and Carla Tejedo Mulet, while Olivia Cowan, Anne Van Dam and Sofie Bringner rounded out the top 10 on 12-under-par.

Golf-ladies european tour to have record prize purse in 2022.

December 24, 2021 — 12:39 am EST

Written by  ->

Dec 24 (Reuters) - The Ladies European Tour (LET) is set to offer players a record prize fund of 24.5 million euros ($27.76 million) in 2022 after it announced 31 events across 21 countries, the biggest number of tournaments in its 44-year history.

The prize money has increased by 4.5 million euros over last season and is 19 million euros more than in 2019, the LET said.

Two new tournaments have been added while eight events will return to the calendar next year, including the Women's Irish Open, which will feature after a decade-long absence.

"On the back of a strong 2021 season, which featured 23 tournaments, 2022 is going to be a record-breaking year for the LET with the largest total purse and number of events in history," LET chief executive Alexandra Armas said.

"We will be launching new events in Asia and South Africa and returning to various territories across Europe and further afield, so it's looking very exciting for our international membership."

The 2022 season will get underway at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open from Feb. 10-13.

Ladies European Tour RECORD-BREAKING 2022 SCHEDULE

The 2022 Ladies European Tour season is set to present the greatest number of tournaments and prize money in the organisation’s 44-year history.

Europe will play host to 19 tournaments from May to September, with the return of the Madrid Ladies Open, The Mithra Belgian Open and the Women’s Irish Open.
