The LSU Urec is literally like my second home besides the dorm. I go there every single day and they have variety of equipment and activities from outdoor to indoor. The place is very clean and a great hang out place to make new friends. One thing I hate about the place is how the crowded the gym is especially around 5-10pm and the big parking lot outside with absolutely no place to park for some reason. Otherwise this is the best Rec center I have ever been to with gym equipment, indoor basketball, track, pool, ping pong, arcade, swimming pools, tennis, study room, rocking climbing, boxing, and powerlifting. Go Tigers!

Disregard the reviews from several years ago because the UREC has been completely remodeled since then, and if it is not 5 stars then nothing is. It is a world class recreational center! I'm not going to waste my time reviewing it--it has everything needed to get in shape and pretty much everything imaginable in terms of exercise equipment and options.

This is where I train to become the next Xena Warrior Princess. Fancy machines and excellent track for practicing chasing my enemies. The staff does not like it when you scream a bloodcurdling victory war cry.

LSU Urec used to be the best thing around... For a while.. But now construction going on and a massive expansion project which ends August 2016 (may be extended). When they were good, they were the very best. You could just stroll around the lake or get a lot of healthy workout done at LSU UREC... Indoor Rock Climbing, Lawn Tennis, Swimming, Sauna, Indoor Basketball, Racquetball, Cardio, Dance Classes, Kayak, Canoe, Race Tracks, Power Lifting etc etc... Fight for parking, and the equipments don't work etc. etc..

I personally like the UREC since I've been coming here on and off for about 4 years. They have a good selection of workout equipment ranging from single target muscle group machines to free weights (good range of weights for the dumbbells) and they have a power lifting section with 6 squat/bench/dead lift racks. The staff is alright, they're just doing their jobs and sometimes they're super friendly but they do keep up with cleaning the equipment. They offer different types of classes varying from yoga to dance. I've went to one of those classes and it does work. After you get over the pain if it's your first time like me. The only issues would be that they are having construction done so all the space isn't available, it's over crowded during certain times and you might have to change your workout routine, and finally the parking is hard to find.

I'm a pretty big fan of the UREC! I came here frequently as a student, and now that I am a staff member, I am very glad to have discounted access to it once again. I love that there are tons of cardio and weight machines that are, generally, in good repair. I go during my lunch break and never have to wait on a cardio machine to open up and only rarely have to wait for someone to finish using a weight machine. I also enjoy the class options. I generally go to the free GroupX classes, especially yoga, but I have tried several of the dance classes too. The classes are enjoyable, and the instructors are all very good. It's also pretty great that you can now sign up for classes online so you don't have to get there super early to camp out in line for those really popular classes. There are additional classes that can be attended for a fee, but I have not yet tried any of those. Other amenities include a heated indoor pool for lap swimming, an indoor track, squash and racquetball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, a climbing gym, and more. My only complaints are about cleanliness, which I suppose is pretty normal for a gym. I wish the UREC would dedicate more staff to wiping down machines at more regular intervals. Some people just aren't great about wiping machines, especially the weight machines, after they use them, so they get gross pretty quickly. Also, I wish the shower floors were cleaned more regularly since there is often hair over the drains of the women's showers. Overall, I enjoy my UREC experience every time I go and will continue to work out at the UREC as long as I am affiliated with LSU!
