Costa Cruises and Hwajing Travel & Tours have revealed a historic collaboration, introducing Malaysia’s first international cruise homeport at Port Klang with the Costa Serena setting sail from March 2024 onwards.

The Costa Serena , renowned for its luxurious European cruising experience, will be the flagship vessel at this groundbreaking homeport.

Costa Serena, in service since 2007, embodies European luxury and Italian sophistication. The ship’s interiors mirror the grandeur of a Roman city, providing passengers with an unforgettable voyage.

Costa Cruises, with a 75-year history, entered the Asian market over 15 years ago and is known for its “Cruising Italian Style” approach. Hwajing, a key player in the ASEAN cruise tourism sector since 1989, joins forces with Costa Cruises in this new chapter.

Muslim-Friendly Cruise On Costa Serena

The collaboration with Costa Cruises and the choice of Port Klang as Costa Serena’s homeport highlight Malaysia’s emergence as a maritime hub, capable of accommodating a diverse international clientele. The collaboration aims to explore the untapped Muslim travel market, customizing services to meet the specific needs and preferences of Muslim travellers, and creating an inclusive and culturally sensitive experience.

The Halal Certification of the Costa Serena further establishes Malaysia as a culturally sensitive and comfortable cruise experience destination. This initiative not only caters to the needs of the over 40% Muslim population in Southeast Asia but also positions Malaysia as a global hub for inclusive travel experiences.

Costa Serena, stretching 290 meters in length and weighing approximately 115,000 tonnes, promises an opulent cruising experience for up to 3,780 guests. With an average of two trips per week, the annual passenger flow could reach 600,000, contributing to the overall economic prosperity of the nation.

A total of 557 balcony cabins provide ample accommodation, offering a range of options for guests to choose from. The cruise experience is enhanced by the availability of eight swimming pools and hot tubs, providing opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment.

Furthermore, the culinary offerings on board are diverse, with ten restaurants and snack bars catering to various tastes and preferences. Guests can also unwind and socialize in the ship’s eight bars and lounges, creating a well-rounded and enjoyable cruise experience.

Accommodation

One of the best resorts we’ve stayed in so far. We took 3d2n package with breakfast, lunch & din provided. Food given large quantity, esp seafood & service was fine. Stayed in Garden Villa chalet. Very clean & comfortable. Housekeeping crew came to clean, very prompt & quick. Clean & nice beach, about 20 paces away from room, as well as clean pool, about 10 paces from room. Surrounding well kept. Resort is, of course, not new but it’s more than adequate to unwind & relax. Came during off-peak season & feels like you have whole resort to yourself! Thank you to staff for memorable holiday.

Booking deposit* (non-refundable) of the full payment should be paid after your booking has been verified by Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours. Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours reserves the right to cancel your booking if you fail to make a full-payment 45 days before travelling dates.

* 30% or more deposit is required at time of booking as it depends on type of package.

* RM 1000/person for group series muslim tour package with travelling date more than 3 months.

Additional info for FIT Tour Package included the air ticket

• Upon registration and confirmation of airline ticket request, Traveller must remit full payment for airline ticket according to the dateline as advised by the person-in-charge in AMI Travel.
• For ground and other payments, traveler must remit booking deposit (a 100 % non-refundable) of 30% from the package price (excluding airline ticket) within three (3) days after registration or according to the dateline advised by person- in- charge in AMI. Balance payment must be made thirty (45) days prior to departure date or according to the dateline as advised by the person-in-charge in AMI.
• No changes can be made within 48 days before departure
• If participant wants to come back later or earlier than the expected date of arrival in Malaysia, participant must send an e-mail or letter 45 days before the travelling dates and it is subject to the discretion of Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours. However, Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours reserves the right to reject or accept it.
• If allowed, any additional cost is participant’s responsibilities. Participant also will be charged for admin fee.

Cancellation

• Booking cancellation from the participant should be done through email or letter and must be sent to Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours for avoiding any misunderstanding
• Price is subject to change which based on currency fluctuation.
• Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours reserves the right to amend the itinerary without prior notice.
• Malaysian traveller, travel insurance is compulsory for international packages. Travel insurance click here.
• There will be no tour leader from Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours that will join this tour.
• Refund will not be paid immediately and will take more than 2 months.
• All hotel and flight details are for reference only and subject to change till you get the verification from Al Masyhur International Travel & Tours.
• Not all hotels provide electric kettle and ironing facilities. It is advisable to bring your own.
• Not all hotels have triple room. So that, triple sharing room is based on twin sharing room with extra bed. Each room must be at least 2 adults paying full fare then only follow by child fare.
• This package is not includes flight ticket unless it is stated, you will be charge RM 40/ticket/person if you want to book flight tickets with us.
• Validity of the passport must be more than 6 (six) months from arrival date.
• A copy of passport should be emailed to the tour officer 45 days before departure
• It is advisable to check and ensure that you are eligible to go to overseas and your name is not being blacklisted. (’Blacklist’: Bank Debts, PTPTN and others). We will not hold any responsibilities if you are not allowed to travel on the day of your departure. Check status here
• For package with Halal meals, meals are suitable for Muslims except breakfast which will be served in standard international buffet menu. In places which Halal meals are hardly to find, we will serve meals based on seafood, vegetarian or packed halal meals.

• No refund or reduction will be made to any member in for accommodation, meals, sightseeing tours, transport or any other services which are included in the tour fare but not utilized by the tour member due to personal reasons.

Admire Kuala Lumpur's skyscrapers, including the symbol of the city: the Petronas Twin Towers. Tickets to the Skybridge sell out early; it might be easier to get a ticket up to the observation deck of Menara KL Tower, which stands 1,000 feet tall. The KL Tower is also the official observation point for sighting the moon to determine the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

See some of Kuala Lumpur's older buildings too. The Sri Mahamariamman Temple is covered with Hindu statues, and Jamek Mosque is in the Moorish style (you can tour parts of the inside enter if dressed conservatively). The National Museum is beautiful, too, and has replica Malay houses inside. The intricately decorated six tiers of Thean Hou Temple are a Kuala Lumpur landmark.

Holy Spelunking

The Batu Caves, in the Kuala Lumpur suburb of Selangor, have Hindu shrines within them. You'll need to climb 272 steps to see the largest Cathedral Cave; there are several smaller caves, too. The 140-foot-tall golden statue at the entrance is Murugan, a Hindu deity.

Local Cuisine

Kuala Lumpur is a street-food mecca. Pick up satay skewers of grilled meat in peanut sauce. Cruise to Kuala Lumpur and try Malaysia's national dish nasi lemak , coconut rice with pandan leaf, spicy sambal, cucumber slices and a choice of meat — fried chicken is a favorite option. Indulge in the flatbread dish roti canai : Enjoy it in savory form with chicken or mutton, or try the dessert version with bananas and ice cream.

Kuala Lumpur is known for its excellent shopping and for having prices better than Hong Kong and Singapore. Try the downtown neighborhood of Bukit Bintang, Suria KLCC below the Petronas Towers, or Chinatown's Central Market, also called Pasar Seni. During your Kuala Lumpur cruise, look for traditional fabrics like batik and Malay brocade.

CHANEL and Virginie Viard have chosen to present the Cruise 2024/25 collection in Marseille, the pulsating heart of the Mediterranean, at the crossroads of contemporary cultures. In a film directed by Ladj Ly, with a choreography imagined by (LA)HORDE, dancers of the Ballet National de Marseille and dancer and friend of the House Marion Barbeau explore the landmarks of the Phocaean City, from the Vieux Port to the Cité radieuse.

CHANEL goes on air with Radio CHANEL, a special programme broadcast on the day of the Cruise 2024/25 show and animated by House ambassador Caroline de Maigret, journalist and producer Géraldine Sarratia as well as music curator Pedro Winter. Radio CHANEL will bring together artists and personalities from Marseille along with ambassadors and friends of the House for an eclectic dialogue about creation. It will be followed by the reveal of the film of the show.
