Maude Latour Announces Fall 2022 Tour & Shares New Track 'Trees'
Tickets go on-sale to the general public this Friday, May 20th at 11am local time.
Continuing on a momentous past year, rising alt-pop star Maude Latour announces her Fall 2022 North American headline tour, kicking off September 29th in Boston, MA.
The 16-date run - which follows her completely sold-out spring tour - will make stops across the country, including debut festival performances at Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and All Things Go Music Festival. Tickets go on-sale to the general public this Friday, May 20th at 11am local time here . See a full list of dates below!
Additionally, Maude's latest track "Trees" just premiered last week on Zane Lowe's Apple Music 1 New Music Daily show alongside an official video set in Central Park that feels like a sun-dappled, summer daydream.
Following recent singles "Lola" and "Headphones," the new song doubles as a love letter to nature and an exploration of grief. "Suddenly the trees are breathing like my lungs," the 22-year-old sings on the ethereal chorus. "It occurs to me that I'm forever changed by you, even though you're not here by my side - maybe you'll be listening and understand."
The inspiration for the track was losing a loved one, who feels nearby during moments of transcendent beauty. As Maude explains, "It is about missing the one person I wish I had, and in some magnificent moments, looking at trees, feeling her still."
With a knack for crafting melodic tracks centered on healing and friendship, Maude has established herself as a pop force, amassing more than 62 million streams on Spotify alone. With the poignant, inward-looking "Trees," she unveils yet another vibrant side of her colorful approach to pop.

Alt-Pop Icon Maude Latour Announces Fall 2022 Tour

In 2022 so far, Latour has released three new singles, “Headphones,” “Lola,” and her most recent single, which was released on May 12th, “Trees.” Not only is Maude Latour busy with recording and releasing new music, she’s also graduating from Columbia University tomorrow with a degree in Philosophy and Political Science. She really does it all!
View this post on Instagram A post shared by maude latour (@maudelstatus)
She has gained over a million monthly listeners on Spotify and has over 98k followers on TikTok. This will be Latour’s longest tour to date. Currently, Latour is signed to Warner records. Her first single under Warner Records, Clean, was released in August 2021 and since then, she’s put out an EP and three singles.
Maude Latour is highly popular with Gen Z because of her dreamy, genuine, and sometimes heartbreaking lyrics. These lyrics are paired with pure alt-pop, vibrant, sunshiny melodies. Some of our favorite lyrics include “I fell in love with how you emphasized your sentences And I got a crush on the shape of your name on my phone” (One More Weekend), “If you’re alone, it doesn’t mean you’re lonely, cause I’m never alone and baby I’m still lonely” (Superfruit), and “Supernova, sip your soda” (Lola).
In her most recent single, “Trees,” Latour is vulnerable about how it feels to miss someone important to you who has passed. Her ability to have such raw emotion in her lyrics really shows in this song. Watch Latour’s new music video for “Trees”
Maude Latour is definitely one to watch! Be sure to get your tickets for What Is This Feeling? The Tour, you’re not going to want to miss this one!

Maude Latour, a Columbia Student, Makes Existential Pop
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter just graduated with a degree in philosophy.
By Callie Holtermann
Name: Maude Latour
Hometown: New York City
Now lives: In a four-bedroom apartment near Columbia University, with the same four roommates she has lived with since freshman year.
Claim to fame: Ms. Latour is a singer-songwriter whose plush indie pop grapples with impermanence. She writes about composing a letter to her future self, cleaning a bedroom that always gets messy and, on her recent single “ Trees ,” mourning the loss of her grandmother, whom she searches for in the space between branches. Ms. Latour filmed the song’s music video during her final semester as an undergraduate at Columbia this spring, between classes on Virginia Woolf and the history of philosophy. “I’m majoring in, ultimately as a philosophy major, life being fleeting,” Ms. Latour said.
Big break: A self-described choir kid, Ms. Latour began songwriting at 15 and uploading her music to Spotify at 17. In March 2020, during the early pandemic lockdown, Ms. Latour posted a video of herself singing “One More Weekend,” an upbeat rendering of an early college heartbreak, to TikTok, where it has been viewed more than 455,000 times. (It has more than 28 million streams on Spotify.) In 2021, during her junior year, Ms. Latour was applying to summer jobs when record labels approached her. She signed with Warner Records and released an EP, “ Strangers Forever ,” last October.
Latest project: Ms. Latour went on a North American tour this spring, squeezing in six shows during spring break and the rest on weekends. Ms. Latour said she cried onstage at Bowery Ballroom in Lower Manhattan, while dedicating her song “Lola” to friends in the audience who are survivors of sexual assault. (“Keep my girls protected/ I’m turned on when I’m respected,” she sings.) “Diderot says you can’t have authentic emotions onstage,” said Ms. Latour, referencing the French philosopher’s “Paradox of the Actor.” “I was like, ‘What?’ All I do is go onstage and feel and bleed out my emotions in front of people.”
Next thing: Later this month, Ms. Latour will play Lollapalooza, her first festival, on the same day as Metallica. “I’m on the same stage as them, so their drum kit and stuff is going to be behind me,” she said. Ms. Latour is also working on an EP she described as a queer coming-of-age set in the “enchanted forest” that is New York City. “The way I feel at the old age of 22 is so much more complicated than when I was 19,” she said. “I’m trying to grow up with my music.”
Borrowed threads: Ms. Latour’s iridescent, Y2K-era stage outfits are a joint effort between herself and her four roommates. The magenta corduroys, rhinestone belt and rust-orange Nike jacket she wore on tour were sourced from her roommates’ closets. Wearing her friends’ clothes helps ease Ms. Latour’s nerves. “I feel hugged by their presence,” she said.
An earlier version of this article misidentified the name of a record label. It is Warner Records, not Warner Music.

Rising Pop Star Maude Latour Went on Her First Tour in Between College Classes: 'It Was Ridiculous'
"I don't want to choose between my passions, and I feel like finishing school was important to me as a soul, as a person," says the Columbia University graduate, whose third EP 001 dropped Friday
Maude Latour wants to create spaces for pure human connection.
After growing up around the world and settling in New York City to study philosophy at Columbia University, the rising pop singer-songwriter earned a dedicated fanbase early in the pandemic on TikTok , where she now holds over 100,000 followers. Since returning to a somewhat normal society, Latour's gone from performing to crowds of a couple hundred people to 1,000-capacity venues in less than a year.
"A huge mission in my life is making strangers feel like they know each other," the 22-year-old musician tells PEOPLE over Zoom shortly before the release of her 001 EP via Warner Records on Friday. Over its seven electro-pop tracks, Latour's third body of work features introspective lyrics about everything from her physical surroundings and self-love to grief, protecting women and staying hydrated, all topics she cares deeply about.
"Nothing on [ 001 ] is about romance, nothing on it is about a boy, nothing is about heartbreak in any of the classic ways. Instead, it's about navigating friendship, sisterhood, trees and people I've lost," she says of the project. "It's me coming back to self-understanding in a new way, wanting to shine bright and feeling a new level of in-touch with my body — wanting to dance."
Born in Sweden to dad Almar , CEO of Dow Jones and publisher of The Wall Street Journal , and mom Abby , a journalist at S&P Global, Latour moved from her birth country to London, NYC and Hong Kong — where she attended middle school — before heading back to NYC for high school and college. Along the way, she learned to speak English, Dutch (which makes up half her background) and Chinese. "I have a very curious world view," she says. "I think it makes me view humanity in this, maybe, idealist way."
That mindset, which influences her support for progressive issues including climate activism and LGBTQ rights both in and out of her music (Latour identifies as bisexual) can be attributed in part to her worldly upbringing with journalist parents. "They both very much taught me to be opinionated and up to date on world events," she explains. "I was raised to really figure out what I believe and stand by it, for sure."
Latour found an interest in music from a very young age, performing in choir and other singing groups throughout her international education and "always trying to get the solo" in performances. "Acapella is, unfortunately, a massive part of my musical upbringing," she quips, noting that after years of singing to sheet music, experiencing her first heartbreak at 15 led to a revelation. "I was like, 'Wait a second. Songs can be about me?' That's when it really changed."
In high school, Latour became an avid songwriter and often put on "little shows" in NYC for handfuls of friends, who learned her lyrics long before the songs were available to stream. "I still look back on those years as my most prolific time of writing," she says. "I would just come home from school, be at the piano all night, write song after song and text them to my friends."
She began uploading music to SoundCloud and Spotify around age 17, but it wasn't until the pandemic hit amid her Columbia years that she soundtracked TikTok videos with her music in an attempt "to go viral." Her songs haven't exactly blown up to "Old Town Road" levels on the platform, but Latour's warm, welcoming online presence has led fans over to her Spotify page, where she now holds over a million monthly listeners. "It's been this weird, steady growth," explains the musician, whose fans have connected with songs like "One More Weekend," which has been streamed more than 31 million times.
"I started doing Zoom parties during my releases, and I went live on Instagram every night," she recalls. "Beyond the music, there's something deeply trying to connect and not feel lonely in my heart."
Thanks to her active online presence during lockdown, Latour and her devoted fanbase soon attracted record labels' attention, and she signed with Warner around summer 2021. Then, it was time to embark on her first concert tour — but one thing was in the way: college. While many aspiring artists would sign a record deal and immediately drop out, Latour didn't even consider that as an option.
"I don't want to choose between my passions, and I feel like finishing school was important to me as a soul, as a person," she says. "I didn't feel like I would be fulfilled just focusing on one half of my brain. If I'm going to have a voice in the world, I want it to be informed."
Given Latour's organic, yet swift rise to success as an artist, her dedication to prioritizing education over an already-burgeoning career is admirable — especially since she stems from an upper-class background, which she's not looking to hide. "That is inextricable from me," she details. "I got to be in college. That's a massive privilege to begin with, and I'm really grateful for the opportunity to even think of pursuing a creative passion."
Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up to date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.
Ultra-committed to school, Latour decided to schedule her tour dates on weekends, so she wouldn't miss any classes. Soon enough, she was unbearably busy. "Once [the tour] started, I was like, 'Oh my God, why did I just give away every weekend? I'm just going to class and shows,'" she says. "It was ridiculous. I was taking so many vitamin supplements. It was not healthy."
Luckily, she can now focus on music full-time, having graduated in spring 2021. Latour's diploma couldn't have come at a better moment, as she's now playing a packed schedule of her biggest concerts to date on a North American tour in support of 001 , which she fittingly considers a coming-of-age project.
"I feel like I'm putting out something that is equally challenging and scary for me," she says, "and I'm excited for people to see me a bit."

Looking for some motivation to help power you through the start of another work week? We feel you, and with some stellar new pop tunes, we’ve got you covered.
These tracks from artists including Leigh-Anne, BABYMONSTER, Frank Turner and more will get you energized to take on the week. Pop any of these gems into your personal playlists — or scroll to the end of the post for a custom playlist.
Coolest Pop Song of the Week: Maude Latour, “Too Slow”
It’s easy to picture rising alt-pop star Maude Latour enjoying the kind of breakthrough hit that Tate McRae recently enjoyed with “Greedy” later this year: after a string of encouraging singles in which the former philosophy student prodded at the existential quandaries of pop stardom, Latour is gearing up for a debut album this summer, and will be joining Fletcher on tour in the fall. Most importantly, new single “Too Slow” finds Latour zeroing in on a style and persona that cuts through the pop-playlist clutter and grabs you by the shoulders — a brash post-teen spirit singular enough to stand out in a crowded field.
“Too Slow” opens with a mix of ascending vocal chants and aggressive handclaps that immediately announces its mischievous streak, and from there, Latour fulfills that early promise. “So I took a shot from the fountain of youth / But babe, if you’re not drinking with me, I’ll have nothing to do, okay? / ‘Cause me and my friends are meeting up under the bleachers / Where the band kids kiss the football team and I keep kissing cheerleaders,” she sings, while dressing up as a cheerleader in the track’s music video.
A song like “Too Slow” doesn’t work if it comes across as overly bratty, but fortunately, Latour boasts the charisma and chorus to have the listener follow her when she beckons you toward her joyride. The new single suggests a corner turned for the singer-songwriter as she gears up for a mainstream shot — when the hooks are delivered this confidently, the sky’s the limit.
Here are some new pop songs worth checking out this week…
Leigh-Anne, “Stealin’ Love”
Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock is forging ahead as a solo artist, and new single “Stealin’ Love” carves out a rhythmic pop lane in which she sounds self-assured, crooning over a chattering vocal sample and asking open-wound rhetorical questions about a broken romance.
Frank Turner, “Letters”
“Letters” races, and with the galloping drums and nimble guitar work in mind, nothing moves faster than Frank Turner’s scorched-earth vocal performance, in which the singer-songwriter reflects on a withered relationship like he’s going to explode unless he unleashes his feelings.
BABYMONSTER, “SHEESH”
K-pop girl group BABYMONSTER spin pop-rap magic on “SHEESH,” a thunderous showcase for the collective that deploys its titular exclamation with jubilation — BABYMONSTER strikes a balance between playful and cutthroat on the track, which is not the easiest line to toe.
Rico Nasty & Boys Noize, “H.O.T.”
Neither rapper Rico Nasty nor producer Boys Noize specialize in subtlety, and “H.O.T.,” from the new collaborative EP Hardcore Dr3amz , clangs forward with a boisterous energy that leaves nothing to the imagination — they’re hot, they declare as much, and the song matches that description.
