For well over a decade NATASHA DIGGS has been digging deeper to provide the soundscape for parties across the globe in cities such as New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Beijing, Prague, Los Angeles and Berlin.

A record enthusiast and collector from her teenage years, Diggs started her journey as a DJ with the acquisition of her first set of turntables at age 17. Since then she has gone on to play at some of the hottest parties and alongside some of the best DJs and artists in the business. As resident of New York City's premiere all-vinyl 45 party, Mobile Mondays!, Diggs has become a force to be reckoned with and one of the most sought-after DJs in the world. Whether she’s playing all vinyl or Serato, Natasha’s deep knowledge of music has enabled her to rock diverse crowds around the globe and on any given night her sets might dip into hip hop, soul, funk, latin, rock, house, reggae, afro-brazilian, disco, and beyond.

Natasha has played alongside or opened for artists such as Erykah Badu, Mark Ronson, Grandmaster Flash, Just Blaze, Dam Funk, The Pharcyde, Rakim, Slum Village, Foreign Exchange, Kenny Dope, 45 King, Cut Chemist, Spinderella, DJ Scratch, Prince Paul, DJ Spinna, DJ Muro, and many more.

In 2013 legendary hip hop MC/producer Q-Tip recruited Diggs to DJ with him at his weekly NYC party #OFFLINE produced by Giant Step. Here Natasha could be heard on one of the best Funktion One sound systems in the world at Club Output.

In 2014 Natasha was selected as a featured DJ on Damian Marley’s first ever “Welcome to Jamrock” VIP cruise traveling from Miami to Jamaica.

In 2015 Diggs became the official DJ for Ms. Lauryn Hill’s Small Axe Acoustic Set Tour. She was also called on to play D’angelo and the Vanguard’s Black Messiah album release party as well as the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibit opening at Brooklyn Museum.

She is equally comfortable playing a downtown underground loft party as she is rocking New York City’s Central Park summer stage concert series for thousands. Diggs is called on frequently by a growing list of corporate and celebrity clientele which includes Adidas, Google, Harpers Bazaar, Elle Décor, L’Oreal, Pharrell, Spike Lee, Roche-Bobois, Converse, Thomas Wylde, Grey Goose, Heineken, Fossil, Vichy, Alternative Apparel, Thompson Hotels, The W, Ace Hotel, The Standard, and Nickelodeon to name a few. Diggs has even been one of a very small number of DJs to play at the United Nations, spinning for the launch of the World Youth Report.

She's been a featured DJ on ScratchVision TV as well as done guest spots on B-Real TV in LA, Triple J National Radio in Australia, East Village Radio's Main Ingredient Show, Beatminerz Radio, Miss Lily’s Radio, WNYU and The Lord Sear All Out Show on Shade 45 (Sirius XM Radio) to name a few.

Khruangbin Announces Mordechai Remixes Album and 2021 US Tour

Khruangbin announce their very own remix album, 'Mordechai Remixes' out August 6th

The art of the remix has been around for decades, from the fervid imaginations of Jamaican record producers like Sir Coxsone Dodd, Duke Reid or King Tubby to the disco enthusiasts of New York City, such as Tom Moulton. The remix has long acted as a song’s extension – some completely deconstructing an idea or sound, others devastating dancefloors or reaching entirely new audiences.   

Today, Houston, Texas’ multilingual collagists Khruangbin announce their very own remix album, Mordechai Remixes out August 6th and to be released physically October 29th on Dead Oceans, in association with Night Time Stories, Ltd.

Carefully curated by the trio comprised of bassist Laura Lee, guitarist Mark Speer and drummer Donald “DJ” Johnson, each remixer on Mordechai Remixes has a musical or cosmic connection to Khruangbin. Whether it be personal friendships or simply mutual musical appreciation, the selected artists’ reimagining of the band’s 2020 Mordechai album is pure kismet. Kadhja Bonet, who lends her creamy soprano flutters to “Father, Mother Bird” was a fan, along with house legend Ron Trent. Harvey Sutherland and Ginger Roots have both toured with the band, Anderson .Paak and NxWorries. collaborator Knxwledge sampled “White Gloves” on a mixtape, Natasha Diggs and Soul Clap are recent friends of the band, Quantic is a mutual friend of Bonobo who is crucial in the band’s origin story, Lee is godmother to one of Felix Dickinson’s kids and Bill Brewster, one half of the DJ duo Mang Dynasty, has known Lee for years. Plus, Brewster wrote the album’s inner sleeve gatefold notes. 

Entering the tight-knit world of a Khruangbin song can be daunting task, though it has been done – previously in 2016, with the highly collectible EP on Boogiefuturo, the off shoot label of Bristol-based Futureboogie Recordings, with a special collaborative 12″ disc featuring remixes/re-edits from a veritable line up of cutting edge producers including DJ Milo, Maribou State and more. Khruangbin has created an entire universe in which they seem to function telepathically in the way the genre-bending music is composed, arranged and played to the audience. To mess with their delicate ecosystem can invoke feelings similar to that of an unwanted guest crashing a good-time party. But Khruangbin reassures, “We write our music to be interpreted; this is another wonderful interpretation of the music. There is something very vulnerable about letting others work on your music,” they continue. But through the correspondence with the different artists, we gained a bigger connection to the songs themselves.”

A recurring visual theme, and further tethering of the remixers to the band, Laura Lee has also hand drawn inner gatefold illustrations of each remixer. Also, over the past couple months Khruangbin has been in the process of releasing a very limited number of 12” records in select record stores. There has been zero promotion or announcement of these 12’s inches until now, and it’s one for the heads, honoring the electronic music sphere’s word of mouth tradition of releasing music.  

This Sunday, June 27th, the band will debut their Khruangbin Curates live set on Boiler Room with three sets from Mordechai remixers – Kadhja Bonet, Felix Dickinson and Ron Trent. 

There is lots to come from Khruangbin this summer and fall, too, including festival performances at Newport Jazz, two headlining shows at Red Rocks, three sold-out nights at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre and Atlanta’s The Eastern, III Points Festival, Outside Lands and more. 

The band recently announced a two-night run at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall in March 2022, too, marking yet another milestone in a journey which will see them touring the majority of the next year, playing major festivals and showcasing their incredible, immersive live show that puts emphasis on the band members themselves. To watch Khurangbin perform live, after all, is to see them.

About Khruangbin

Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2009 with Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960’s Thai funk – their name literally translates to “Engine Fly” in Thai – Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. By the summer of 2019, the trio had been on tour for nearly three-and-a-half years, playing to audiences across North and South America, Europe, and southeast Asia behind its acclaimed albums The Universe Smiles Upon You and Con Todo El Mundo. As resident of New York City’s premiere all-vinyl 45 party, Mobile Mondays!, Diggs has become a force to be reckoned with and one of the most sought-after DJs in the world. Whether she’s playing all vinyl or Serato, Natasha’s deep knowledge of music has enabled her to rock diverse crowds around the globe and on any given night her sets might dip into hip hop, soul, funk, latin, rock, house, reggae, afro-brazilian, disco, and beyond.

Natasha has played alongside or opened for artists such as Erykah Badu, Mark Ronson, Grandmaster Flash, Just Blaze, Dam Funk, The Pharcyde, Rakim, Slum Village, Foreign Exchange, Kenny Dope, 45 King, Cut Chemist, Spinderella, DJ Scratch, Prince Paul, DJ Spinna, DJ Muro, and many more.

In 2013 legendary hip hop MC/producer Q-Tip recruited Diggs to DJ with him at his weekly NYC party #OFFLINE produced by Giant Step. Here Natasha could be heard on one of the best Funktion One sound systems in the world at Club Output.

In 2014 Natasha was selected as a featured DJ on Damian Marley’s first ever “Welcome to Jamrock” VIP cruise traveling from Miami to Jamaica.

She is equally comfortable playing a downtown underground loft party as she is rocking New York City’s Central Park summer stage concert series for thousands. Diggs is called on frequently by a growing list of corporate and celebrity clientele which includes Adidas, Google, Harpers Bazaar, Elle Décor, L’Oreal, Pharrell, Spike Lee, Roche-Bobois, Converse, Thomas Wylde, Grey Goose, Heineken, Fossil, Vichy, Alternative Apparel, Thompson Hotels, The W, Ace Hotel, The Standard, and Nickelodeon to name a few. Diggs has even been one of a very small number of DJs to play at the United Nations, spinning for the launch of the World Youth Report.

She’s been a featured DJ on ScratchVision TV as well as done guest spots on B-Real TV in LA, Triple J National Radio in Australia, East Village Radio’s Main Ingredient Show, Beatminerz Radio, Miss Lily’s Radio, WNYU and The Lord Sear All Out Show on Shade 45 (Sirius XM Radio) to name a few.

Ever since Just Blaze smashed his way into the Hip Hop world with his pioneering Blueprint beats, he’s never looked like he was going away. While many producers come and go as their styles fall in and out of favour with the trends of the day, Just Blaze (real name Justin Smith) has always found a way to keep his sound in demand.

From when he arrived on the scene alongside a fresh-faced Kanye West with his early soul-sampling style, Just has kept it fresh and has recently adopted more contemporary trap elements to his sound so that his style can now get Dancefloors going crazy. Having always been a master with the decks, Just Blaze takes his style into a live setting with ease, mixing seamlessly between classic hip hop and cutting edge, face-melting trap, Just injects a bit of Hip Hop history into the new scene. Its worth seeing Just Blaze for the fact that he’s probably been the man behind your favourite rap singles over years and he just happens to put on a hell of a live set as well – that’s an added bonus!
