We booked our trip with perillo. They have been nothing short of amazing. Every time we speak with a rep there they are helpful and knowledgeable. Recently we dealt with Janice Charowsky and she was amazing. You should have ten like her. Helpful, knowledgeable and and absolute pleasure to work with. Thank you Perillo for making the dream trip of a lifetime come true.
Came back from an 8 day trip in Italy- Rome, Florence and Venice. All booked thru Perillo Tours. Thank you, Laura @Perillo Tours for booking it all for us. Getting a family of 4 thru it all and like clockwork thru these cities in 8 days, is no easy job. Planes. Automobiles, and trains literally all booked for us. Got us on a 8am flight out of Venice. A taxi was waiting for us @ 515 am at our Venice hotel. Lara, our tour guide in Venice was amazing. She even made it interesting for my preteen (again not easy) and had my 10 year old entertained during a 3 hour "Best of Venice" private walking tour. I am so thankful for the best memories for my family in 3 cities in 8 days. If you are looking for an amazing trip, Perillo Tours are your people. Just do it and don't think twice!!! grazie mille
Very professional tour company. We had 14 days tour to Italy with them. It was put together with personal guides. We left 2 days early with a side to Vicenza , where I was stationed. Plus they put a another side tour to my wife's uncle grave site. Definitely recommend this Company with highest kudos.
Perillo is first class from top to bottom. class act with knowledgeable tour guides and local guides. Our tour guide is a historian- so informative. loved the hotels especially in Venice and Sorrento
Since Perillo tours is so upset that I'm leaving negative reviews because I never traveled with them let me clarify. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Let me reiterate...the FIRST time we heard that there was a problem with this tour was 6/16. If they knew there was a possibility this tour would be cancelled we should have at least been alerted when they became aware. "Janice" said this much when we spoke to her she apologized "for dropping the ball". If Devin is correct about the "private tour" then perhaps he need to tell Janice because she stated we would be on our own most of the time. i will continue to tell everyone about the horrible experience with Perillo snd recommend they tour with another more reliable company.
Here's the voicemail we received. Notice they didn't even get the name correct.

Hello. We have gone over this many time with this client and she continues to leave negative reviews without even having traveled with us. We feel very badly that the tour departure was cancelled but it was beyond our control. A few weeks ago, we had enough participants to operator and unfortunately we had some cancellations. Our brochure specifically states: "From time to time a tour departure may be cancelled due to lack of participation or other operational reasons. In such case, Perillo Tours sole responsibility is to provide a complete refund of money received without any other liability whatsoever." What this client states is false - the North Continental tour that she was booked on includes NO DINNERS. It is dine on your own so why would we include dinners on a custom trip? We offered them a custom vacation package with private guides and drivers, NOT TAXIS. They would have visited all the same cities and visited all the same sites with private guides and drivers - and we were willing to do this all at the same cost. Clients refused and asked for a refund. This refund was processed this morning and now it will take the credit card company a few days to process.
We were booked for the Northern Continental tour of Italy with a departure date of 8/14. We booked it almost a year ago and it's paid in full including airfare to the tune of over $11,000. We just found out TODAY(6/16)it is cancelled and there is no effort on their part to make this right. I thought this was supposed to be the premier touring company but how is it possible that they only knew this 2 months before the tour date? This has left a very bad taste in my mouth and I won't be looking to tour with them in the future and I'll be telling everyone I know to check out other touring companies as well since they are evidently unreliable. Their customer service is sorely lacking. It took 2 days and multiple phone calls to finally speak to someone that was "authorized" to address this issue. They did offer 2 solutions. The first was to keep our tour dates but to offer a "private tour" which consisted of nothing more than a taxi service that would drive us to each tour site but we would be on our own. No tour guide, no dinner, none of the amenities that we signed up for originally. The second option was a trip to Hawaii. Neither of these offers comes anywhere close to making up for their poor handling of our 30th anniversary trip of a lifetime. Now we wait to see how long it takes this company to refund the money they have been holding on to interest free. Of course now they're upset that I have left negative reviews because I "didn't even go on a tour" but others should be aware that when you book a trip with them and pay your money there is no guarantee that they will hold up their end of the contract.
It was a trip my family will never forget. My tour guide Anna and bus driver Mauro did a fantastic job.. I would highly recommend your company.. Vincent E
Just finished booking our first tour with Perillo Tours. We read reviews and felt comfortable moving forward with the company. Went online to make our deposit for our September 2024 tour and somehow our credit card was charged for the entire amount. The same thing happened to my sister and our friend. The rep I spoke with said that I must have put in the wrong amount. My sister was told the same thing by the rep she spoke with. Refunds are being processed but this first interaction doesn't give me great confidence in the company. We will be moving forward with the tour and I hope that this first interaction with the company is not characteristic of our future interactions.
It was been a week since we got back to US from our Marco Polo Tour. It was the trip of a lifetime. The entire country of Italy is a museum. The food, wine and people are wonderful. The hotels were all beautiful and in great locations. Our tour guide Daniela worked tirelessly to make sure that all of our needs were taken care of. She was professional, knowlegeable and did everything with a smile. She is truly an asset to your company. Our bus drive Murko was very professional and careful with the roads and keeping us safe! Cannot wait to return!
This was the trip of a lifetime. Perillo Tours does everything right! Everything is so well organized, hotels were in great locations and the tour guides were amazing. Anyone unsure of traveling in a group, don't be! I feel that it definitely added to the adventure! I can't wait to do this again!
I had a wonderful time on our trip in June. We had an amazing tour guide Sandra who do an amazing job. Our bus driver was wonderful as well. The only thing we were disappointed with the food choice and places Perilllo chose. Food was not good. When we went in our own to eat the food was much better.

Credibility Check
On the USTOA (U.S. Tour Operators Association) and Travelstride site, Perillo gets 4.8 out of 5 . Perillo is not BBB accredited but earns an A+ rating from the organization.
Tour Destinations
Perillo is best known as an Italy specialist, with tours that range from nine to 15 days all across Italy. The company also offers a limited number of itineraries to Greece and Spain. And for 30 years, Perillo has also been hosting guided tours to Hawaii.
Perillo’s group Italy tours focus on either a geographical region or a theme. So for instance, you could opt for a tour that focuses exclusively on Rome and the Amalfi Coast, or Sicily and Italy’s South; or you could choose a themed tour like Renaissance and let the topic take you to cities (like Florence) that were important during the period. Some tours are more food-focused (for instance, Green Heart of Italy) but all Perillo tours are focused on good food experiences.
COMFORT AND STYLE: How to Choose the Best Walking Shoes for Travel
Perillo’s Greece tour itineraries are more limited in number, but most offer a mix of land and sea excursions. The company currently offers just one Spain tour, a 13-day trip that covers much of the country. Perillo’s Hawaii tours focus on multi-island excursions that give travelers an easy way to experience the different islands of Hawaii on one itinerary. Hawaii tours range from about nine to 13 days.
Tour Guides
Perillo uses both tour directors and local guides, and both must pass a rigorous series of written and oral exams before becoming Perillo tour guides. According to Perillo: “This is a very difficult process, with approximately only one in 10 applicants passing the examinations.” And All Perillo guides are trained in the “Perillo style of ‘over-the-top’ guest service.”
Excursions/Extras
Perillo tour prices include hotels, sightseeing with expert guides, transfers, baggage handling, daily breakfast, select scheduled meals, tips, taxes, and complimentary WiFi on all Perillo coach buses. While Perillo does offer competitive airfare, it’s not included in the base price of the tour.
READY FOR ADVENTURES: Best Tour Companies for Older Travelers
There are often additional optional activities offered at (a fair and modest) extra cost during tour free time. Examples of such extras include a gondola serenade in Venice, the Illuminated Rome at Night experience, a Lake Como boat cruise, and a visit to Villa D’Este in Tivoli.
Typical Travelers
The majority of Perillo Tours’ guests fall in the 59-77 age range, and most are from the United States. Perillo Tours are popular with couples, but about 13% of tour travelers are solo travelers.
SOLO BUT NOT ALONE: 10 Best Tour Companies for Solo Travelers
Communication
Perillo communications come via via phone, email and website. Payment reminders and alerts are emailed. Final documents are mailed along with baggage tags, instructions with a travel wallet, and a travel pouch.
Loyalty Program
Perillo offers a discount, a special gift, and best available rooms for repeat travelers.
Private Options
Perillo Tours, offers private escorted tours for groups with a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 people. These tours are popular with multigenerational and extended families, and groups of close friends. Eight of Perillo’s signature itineraries are available as private tours, and all feature hand-selected, immersive experiences like olive oil and wine tasting in Tuscany, private boat rides around Capri, and parmigiano cheese sampling in Parma.

Im having the same problem. My daughters and i are planning a trip in November 2016. Need to know what to expect from Perillo
Tripadvisor staff removed this post at the original author's request.
Yes, they do keep you moving, but I guess that's the point. You paid to see Italy and they want to give you your money's worth. And they do herd you to their "preferred" stores. I guess I'm not much of a shopper but the merchandise looked good to me.
I would recommend if you never traveled oversea's before but for a repeat visit probably not the way I would go.
Well stated, James.
When are you going? We are taking the Northern Classic tour leaving Nov 4th. My husband, myself and my granddaughter (20). This is my first Perillo tour. I am hoping it is better than GoAhead Tours. We just came back from Spain and weren't thrilled with them. When are you going?
attest to the fact that they are the worst tours imaginable.

Generally tours are morning to late afternoon, loaded on a bus and staying outside the city. Bags out early and get on the bus.
They take you to the sights and to stop where they want you to shop and they get a cut.
Do hope you had some time to take in all the sights and enjoy.
Perillo tour October, 2012
I'm so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the tour. Please understand that we make it very clear in both our brochures and final instructions that optional tours are NOT included and are available for purchase from the tour guide.
Over the past few years, we have made imprivements to the hotels we use and the meals that we serve. We change our menus throughout the year to always make sure we are serving authentic Italian dinners. We use only 4 & 5 star hotels IN the city centers and the hotels for each tour are listed in the brochure.
We list each day's itinerary in detail in the brochure so everything is very clear as far as what's included and what's not.
We hope you give us another chance in the future!
- Diana, Perillo Tours
I do think it is very nice of you and Perillo Tours to respond to these above posts. BUT, let's be honest, when has Perrillo Tours used a 5* hotel in a city center? I think a 3* would be more accurate and maybe not city center.
All of the hotels we use are listed in our brochure and on our website for each city. There are no surprises at all.
The 5 star hotels we use are:
Westin Europa & Regina - Venice
Grand Hotel Majestic - Bologna
Villa Medici - Florence
Ambasciatori Palace - Rome
ALL the other hotels we use are 4 star city center. We are very proud of the changes we have made over the past few years. I invite you to view the hotels we use online: http://www.perillotours.com

way too agressive. One tour was supposed to be a morning tour
and lasted till 7:30 PM. Was supposed to be a vacation and turned into a marathon. We booked two extra days and they were the
best., we did what we wanted. The trip was pricey.

Not sure what etc and which tour you are referring to. When we go on tours we actually look for tours where there is some free time in each city for eating and exploring ( esp Florence, Venice and Rome etc.) . . We try to research the cities (e.g. Rick Steeve Books) and find lot of interesting places ( away from shops/shopping areas that might be providing "pay back" for the tour guides. Perillo has two tours we are considering. The both have the same amount of days (14) and cities, but one has a not more free time and less group meals in each city . If we select Perillo, we will go for the one with less meals and more free time. That's why we continue to search TA , post questions and widen our tour company reviews.
F you are on a tour, you should find lots of people (community) to travel with. I find that most tour complaints related to "Too many people" on the tour with too many group activities. Since you have already had three tours and travel alone, I am sure you will do just fine. Surprised that you waited so late to post your first comment on TA about your trip/concerns. You have a few more days to post questions about the specific cities that have the "Free time". Suggest you bang away on the Italy Cities TA Forums. Good luck and have fun.
Re :Wow, was I surprised. This tour far exceeded my husband and my expectations. What particularly surprised you ?
Thank you for your throrough review. My husband and I are leaving in 3 weeks to do the North Continental Tour and with some of the reviews I was a bit nervous. I am glad to see that you and your husband had such a great time and so recently. I am now much less nervous about our trip. We too do not expect much down time since we want to see as much as possible and it's our first trip. Thanks for adding in that the the bus trip is a long one, that is very helpful.
Thank you, I expect we will! And, I will certainly come back here to post our thoughts when we return.

The food was great and the hotels were all first-class with large, clean rooms, located in the heart of the areas we visited.
Re: perillo tours. my first trip to Italy was on a Perillo tour about 20 years ago. Biggest complaint was that the hotels were NOT centrally located in Rome, Florence or Sorrento. Especially in Florence, was way on the outskirts. The tour we did had some optional (for a price) meals and they were all very good.

Perillo tour October, 2012. This was the worse trip that we ever took. The meals were terrible -the breakfast each morning in every hotel was not good. You only had a choice of (chicken, fish, calamari) every night for dinner in each City. There is a 10hr bus run that you are not told about & the next day there is a train ride that is over 6 hrs.
