Shopping center Berlin Marzahn

The Berlin district of Marzahn was the largest large housing estate in the days of the GDR.

The district of Marzahn has its origins in a medieval Angerdorf – the former village center has been a listed building since the 1970s. By the end of the 1980s, a huge, green urban landscape had developed around the old village, along with the large housing estate made up of prefabricated buildings, for which Marzahn is known today. Finally, in 2001, Marzahn and Hellersdorf merged.

Trend-conscious Berliners rumor that Marzahn could develop into a hip residential area in the coming years or decades – today there are still mainly prefab buildings in which you can find apartments with comparatively low rents, and a few parks.

But a promising art scene is slowly developing. The prejudices that many Berliners who live in the center of the capital harbor against the residents of Marzahn seem to be disproved more and more.

The monumental residential buildings rise up to 24 floors. There are also a number of promising shopping centers between the Marzahn districts – fashion, services, culture and many other sectors are represented here.

Residents mostly meet in the shopping centers to go shopping together, because only a few Berlin tourists take a closer look at the district on a sightseeing tour.

So if you want to go shopping away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, you should take a closer look at the shopping centers in Berlin Marzahn.

In Berlin, pedestrian zones are spread all over the city. In some districts you will find exceptional shopping streets.

Kurfürstendamm in Berlin in Deutschland

1. Kurfürstendamm

The most famous and popular shopping street is Kurfürstendamm, affectionately called Ku'damm by Berliners. It runs from Breitscheidplatz in Charlottenburg to Rathenauplatz in Grunewald and can be easily reached by the U9 U-Bahn line at the stop with the same name.

Kurfürstendamm was originally a boulevard and led the electoral riders from the Tiergarten to Grunewald. In its current form, Kurfürstendamm was created in the 19th century at the instigation of Otto von Bismarck, who wanted to turn Kurfürstendamm into the Champs-Elysées of Berlin.

Nearby is Europaplatz with the famous Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, which as a repaired ruin is a landmark of the city, the Zoological Garden, and KaDeWe, the most luxurious department store of Berlin.

Alexanderplatz in Berlin in Deutschland

2. Alexanderplatz

Alexanderplatz, also called "Alex" by Berliners, is located in Mitte, Berlin and is a central transportation hub. The Alexanderplatz station is one of the largest U-Bahn stations in the Berlin subway, accessible from underneath with the U5 U-Bahn line.

In addition to Galeria Kaufhof and Alexa, and the Art Deco shopping center, there are many smaller stores that invite you to shop, as well as numerous restaurants where you can take a break.

Formerly a parade ground, Alexanderplatz was transformed into a pedestrian zone in GDR times and was considered the center of the city and used for numerous major events.

Alexanderplatz is home to the World Time Clock, the Fountain of Friendship between Peoples, and the 365-meter-high TV Tower. Nearby is the Red City Hall and the Neptune Fountain.

When Berlin was still divided, Hackescher Höfe was located in East Berlin. Many of the old buildings were not renovated and fell into disrepair over time. After extensive renovation in 1990, numerous artists and designers settled here and Hackesche Höfe developed into a lively trendy neighborhood.

Hackesche Höfe was built in September 1906 and renovated in the 1990s and the buildings are now historical landmarks that are considered a special attraction. They represent the largest enclosed courtyard area in Germany and are still used commercially.

After World War II, the GDR began rubble removal, and the street was divided by the Berlin Wall. The Palace of Tears commemorates the sad role played by the Friedrichstraße Station, which opened in 1882 during the period when Berlin was a divided city. After the fall of the Wall in 1989, today's modern shopping district was created between Checkpoint Charlie and the Friedrichstraße Station.

During the First World War and the November Revolution, many violent confrontations took place here.

Humana stores are spread throughout the city, but the Humana Kaufhaus in Friedrichshain is the biggest of the thrift chain. If you plan to go here, make sure you leave yourself enough time to explore all five floors. There’s always more than 30,000 items here, and each section is organised by garment type and colour. So if you’re looking for a red dress, you can head straight to the red dress section – it’s as simple as that. A special highlight is the vintage department on the top floor, where retro fans can find original clothing from the 1950s to the 1990s at reasonable prices.

It’s one of the city’s go-to providers for second-hand clothing, with a huge range of clothes and accessories from decades past. The company prides itself on its curation, always making sure to stock rare, one-of-a-kind pieces that will last.

Paul’s Boutique

Paul’s Boutique is a family of five vintage shops spread throughout the city. On Oderberger Straße 47 in Prenzlauer Berg, you’ll find the original store, Paul’s Boutique, stocked with vintage sneakers, leather jackets and collectable toys. Next door is Fundus, a shop that has become a popular go-to among local stylists – everything here is for rent, rather than for sale. A few doors down at Oderberger Straße 45, the family’s sister shop, GOO, sells vintage designer items from brands such as Dior, Chanel, Marc Jacobs and McQueen. At Torstraße 76 in Mitte, check out the aptly titled Torstraße shop where you’ll find vintage Dr Martens and rock T-shirts. The team carefully curates a selection of progressive clothing and footwear from local and international designers. While its unique pieces often come with a high price tag, you can find a bargain in its new archive space, Compact Market. And when all that shopping leaves you exhausted, grab a coffee at Voo Store’s in-house café, Companion Coffee.

Run by two creative immigrants, Studio183 began as an experimental pop-up shop in 2016. Today, it has evolved into a concept boutique, selling a selection of fashion goods from young and established Berlin-based and international designers and artists. With two locations in both East and West Berlin, the interior is minimal and understated, leaving the pieces to speak for themselves. Each piece has a unique story behind it, making a trip to Studio183 just like visiting an art gallery . Check out the store’s first in-house “Geld” collection in collaboration with designer Veronika Hopponen. Many of the playful pieces are selected vintage items that have been dyed, cut and screen-printed with playful illustrations.

Andreas Murkudis

Before opening his first store in 2003, Andreas Murkudis spent 15 years directing Berlin’s Museum of Things. He established his second, current store in 2011, located in the former printing workshop of the Tagesspiegel newspaper on Potsdamer Straße. Murkudis doesn’t follow trends; instead, his selection of fashion, accessories and homeware is based on his fundamental belief in clean aesthetics and quality that lasts. You could spend hours exploring the store, but when you’re done, there’s a variety of art galleries just next door. At Blain|Southern, you can visit the space’s ever-changing collection of international contemporary art, while Galerie Thomas Fischer is known for its rotating photography exhibitions.

Shakespeare and Sons, Berlin

Coffee , books and bagels – what more could you need? Shakespeare and Sons first opened in 2002 in a former brothel in Prague’s Vrsovice neighbourhood before relocating to the Malá Strana district to accommodate the ever-growing book collection. In 2011, it opened a second branch in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, and in 2014, it moved to Friedrichshain’s infamous “party street”, Warschauer Straße. Inside the quiet oasis, you can escape the city chaos, browse a large selection of English books and take a break at the in-house café.

Find a bargain at Berlin’s flea markets

If you’re visiting Berlin during the warmer months, a trip to Mauerpark on a Sunday is a must. The large flea market boasts many fashion, music, art and food stalls. Look out for the huge antique section where you’ll find all sorts of vintage design objects and bric-a-brac, from typewriters to old family photo albums. The surrounding park area provides endless entertainment too. You can walk along the path where the Berlin Wall once stood, stop and watch the many street performers and musicians, and if you’re feeling brave, join the famous Bearpit Karaoke – a giant outdoor amphitheatre where you can perform in front of hundreds of spectators, or just sit and enjoy the show.

Antique Market at Ostbahnhof

A century ago, women used to sell their wares under the old linden trees here, and today, over 120 antique dealers gather every Sunday to find homes for their furniture, art, design items and books. This historical market just outside Ostbahnhof station is perfect for treasure hunters and avid collectors on the lookout for something special. Other than larger items like vintage furniture, expect to find jewellery, stamps, coins, postcards and more.

Nowkoelln Flea Market

Situated next to the idyllic Landwehr Canal , the Nowkoelln Flea Market opens its stalls every Sunday . Here, can you shop second-hand clothing, rummage through records and buy locally made crafts and jewellery. There’s often live music and plenty of food stalls selling home-made cakes and more.

SO36 offers a night-time market once a month

It’s often said that the early bird catches the worm (or the shopping deals in this case), but if you’re more of a night owl, perhaps the flea market at SO36 is more your style. Once a month, the legendary club transforms into a market hall full of vintage clothes, CDs, records, art and much more. It’s open from 8pm to midnight, but go early to beat the crowds.

If you visit the Kurfürstendamm you should most definitely also visit the KaDeWe. This department store was build more than 100 years ago and is an experience by itself: With 60.000 square meters and 6 floors you can spend a good part of your shopping afternoon in this place. The products vary from cosmetics to clothing and from music to furniture. On the sixth floor you can find many extraordinary foods from all over the world.

Inside the KaDeWe

If you love a proper discount you could consider visiting the Designer Outlet in Spandau. It’s like a small town with outlets of all large fashion brands.

Although we just had a beautiful summer, the weather in Berlin can be rather cold in some months of the year. On these days it is pleasant to go shopping in an indoor shopping mall. On walking distance of Alexanderplatz you can visit a mall called Alexa . It offers 56.000 square meter of shops, a large foodcourt and you can even play bowling on the top-floor of the mall.

The entrance of the shopping Mall Alexa

Convenient Shopping – Many shops close together

Alexa might not be the most authentic place to go shopping in Berlin but it is certainly a very convenient shopping area. It goes without saying that Alexanderplatz is easy to reach by both U-Bahn and S-Bahn. Besides that Alexa offers 180 different stores on three different levels. This means you will never have to walk far to get from one shop to another. With shops like Tommy Hilfiger, Quiksilver, Northface, Mango, Mediamarkt and Levi’s there is a nice range of shops for all ages and interests. A full list of shops can be found here .

The side of Alexa near Alexanderplatz

Foodcourt with 17 restaurants

When you get hungry or thirsty during the shopping, you can always take a rest at the foodcourt. Alexa offers 17 different places to eat and plenty of chairs and tables. Alexa is open till 21.00 so you could even decide to have dinner here and do a bit of night-shopping. If you need some relaxation after a day of shopping you can always visit the day spa in the Radisson Blu Hotel which is not far from here.

Name: Alexa shopping center Opening-Hours : 10.00 – 21.00 Public Transport: Alexanderplatz or Jannowitzbrücke Website: Website Alexa Amount of shops : 180 Example of shops: Tommy Hilfiger, Zara, Esprit, H&M, Tommy Hilfiger, Edeka, Bijou Brigitte, Billabong, Quiksilver, Northface, Vero Moda, Mango, Levi’s and many more

One of my favourite places to go shopping in Berlin is Hackescher Markt. Although the amount of shops is way lower than most shopping malls, the atmosphere is way better. If you travel to station Hackescher Markt you will arrive on a small square with some restaurant and a market every Thursday and Saturday. When you walk a bit further in the direction of Rosenthaler Straße you will find many interesting fashion brands like RayBan, Oakley, Fossil, Adidas, Energy, Scotch and Soda, Diesel and more.

The weekly market on the square of the Hackescher Markt

Central location with nice restaurants and bars

Besides a bunch of nice shops and boutiques its great that there are many nice restaurants and bars close to Hackescher Markt. You can grab a good pizza, there is a cosy tapas place (YoSoy) and our favourite Vietnamese place Manngo can also be found in this area. Reaching Hackescher Markt should not be hard because it’s just one station away from Alexanderplatz.

All in all we can summarise that Hackescher Markt is perfect for people who love to do a bit of shopping and enjoy a drink with some proper food afterwards.

Name: Hackescher Markt Address: Rosenthaler Straße Opening-Hours: Most shops from 11.00 – 20.00 Public Transport: S-Bahn Hackescher Markt or Tram Website: No official website Amount of shops: 50-60 Example of shops: Scotch and Soda, Diesel, Energie, Pepe Jeans Paul Frank, Adidas, Mavi, Wesc, Strellson, Cos, Swatch, Fossil and many more.

No time for shopping? We have gathered some great Berlin Souvenirs which you can buy online without much effort.

A shopping mall which was opened in September 2014 is called the Mall of Berlin . This shopping-center is located directly next to Potsdamer Platz and should therefore fit perfectly in the schedule of every visitor of Berlin. The Mall of Berlin is about 200.000 square meters and offers more than 270 different shops . With large clothing-brands like Guess, Hugo Boss, Armani, Replay, G-Star and Levi’s this is great place for people who are looking for new clothing. Obviously you can also find other products here: Saturn, Christ, Depot, Fossil, Deichmann are just a few other shops.

An impression of the Mall of Berlin

Largest foodcourt in Berlin

Besides plenty of shops, the Mall of Berlin offers the largest foodcourt of Berlin. You will be able to eat everything from a quick snack to a real meal inside the mall. And if this is not enough you can always walk to Potsdamer Platz to enjoy some exclusive restaurants there. If you are done with shopping it’s not hard to find your next activity nearby: The Jewish Memorial, Cinemaxx cinema and Legoland are all on walking distance and you can even visit a large casino at Potsdamer Platz.

Name: Mall of Berlin Opening-Hours: 10.00 tot 21.00 Public Transport: Potsdamer Platz or Mohrenstraße Website: Website Mall of Berlin Amount of shops: 270 Example of shops: Esprit, H&M, C&A, Douglas, Mango, Peek & Cloppenburg, Guess, Hugo Boss, Armani, G-Star, Levi’s, Zara, Vans, Saturn, Replay, Pepe Jeans. and many more

There are 8 Sundays each year on which the shops in Berlin are open. Some shops in Hauptbahnhof are open every Sunday.

The newest shopping Mall in Berlin was opened in October 2018 and is called the East Side Mall. This mall is located directly in front of station Warschauer Straße and therefore has a perfect location for everybody who is staying in Friedrichshain. Besides plenty of interesting shops you can find a fitness-club, a cinema, two supermarkets and even a bowling-alley here.

The shopping Mall East Side Mall

120 versatile shops and many nice restaurants

The East Side Mall does not have as much shops as the Mall of Berlin or Alexa but still offers many great brands like Bershka, Weeklday, Vero Moda, Monki, H&M, Rituals and more. What’s great about the Mall of Berlin is that besides a foodcourt there are also many very nice restaurants closer to the Mercedes Benz Arena. You can have a lovely hamburger in places like Hans im Glück or Five Guys for example.

Inside the East Side Mall

Mercedes Benz Arena and East Side Gallery

A visit to the East Side Mall can be easily combined with watching a sport-match or enjoying a concert of a cover band . All of this can be found in the Mercedes Benz Arena. On the other side of the street you can find the Spree and the East Side Gallery . All in all the East Side Mall is a nice place for some shopping in Berlin.

Name: East Side Mall Opening-Hours: 10.00 – 21.00 Public Transport: Warschauer Straße Website: Website East Side Mall Amount of shops: 180 Example of shops: Weekday, H&M, Saturn, Berschka, Calzedonia, Only, Jack & Jones, Vero Moda and many more

Cannot get enough of shopping? The Don Xuan Center in Lichtenberg offers products from Asia and delicious food.

6. Friedrichstrasse

As a visitor of Berlin, you might be interested in combining shopping in Berlin with some of the touristic attractions . If this is the case you should consider visiting the Friedrichstrasse. Besides a great place for shopping, you can easily visit places like Checkpoint Charlie and Brandenburger Tor. A highlight in the winter is the Christmas market located at the Gendarmenmarkt.

Shopping Friedrichsstraße Berlin (© www.itinari.com)

Exclusive and expensive shops

But this article should be related to shopping so let us get back to that topic: Friedrichstrasse is known for offering some of the more exclusive shops in the higher price range. Brands like Gucci, Hugo Boss, Marc O’Polo and Breitling are just a few examples. There are also larger department stores like Galaries Lafayette and Dussmann. The fact that the prices are higher does not mean that Friedrichstrasse is not interesting for visitors with a smaller budget. Window-Shopping and getting inspired can be a lot of fun in this part of Berlin.

Name: Shops in the Friedrichstraße Opening-Hours: Most shops from 10.00 – 20.00 Public Transport: Station Friedrichstrasse Website: No official website Amount of shops: 50-70 Example of shops: Hugo Boss, Galeries Lafayette, Escada, Gucci, Breitling, Emporio Armani, Dussmann Kulturkaufhaus and more

The last name in the list of shopping areas in Berlin is the Schlossstrasse. Compared to the other shopping areas, this shopping area is located a little further from the center. Steglitz is 12,5km away from Alexanderplatz but can be easily reached by public transport. During the weekends it can actually be a smart move to stay away from the crowded places in the city. Besides some shops outside in the Schlossstraße, there is also a shopping mall called Berlin Boulevard in this area. It offers brands like G-Star, Mexx, Zara, Hollister and many more.

Inside the shopping mall Boulevard Berlin (© Morgenpost)

Less touristic part of Berlin

Just like all the other malls in this article, the Boulevard Berlin offers a small foodcourt with the usual fastfood-options. The parking in this part of Berlin is a bit easier than in the center so if you want to travel by car this shopping mall could be a good option.

Name: Boulevard Berlin Address: Schloßstraße 10, 12163 Berlin Opening-Hours: 10.00 – 20.00 Public Transport: Schlossstrasse Website: Website Boulevard Berlin Amount of shops: +/- 90 Amount of shops: G-Star, Levi’s, Zara, H&M, Mexx, Hollister, Only, Gerry Weber, Karstadt, Pandora, Desigual and more

Frequently asked questions about shopping in Berlin

Below we have listed some frequently asked questions to make sure nothing stands in the way of you and the shops in Berlin. If you have any additional questions, just leave a comment.

Unfortunately the shops in Berlin are only allowed to open their doors on 8 Sundays per year. If you do not want to wait for these shopping sundays, you can always go to Hauptbahnhof: There are a bunch of shops like Esprit, Douglas, Tamaris and Tom Tailor which are open every Sunday.

Just like everywhere else you can find many shops with sale in Berlin. Especially when the seasons are changing (August & February), the shops try to get rid of the previous collection and offer large discounts.

Yes, there is the Designer Outlet in Spandau which only offers clothing with discount. It’s like a small village where all shops offer large discounts.

The KaDeWe is the largest department store in Germany and Berlin. In our article about department stores you can read more about the largest stores in Berlin.

If you want to bring something home as a memory of Berlin, you can visit one of the souvenir-shops. Watch out that you do not buy fake parts of the wall or pay too much for your souvenirs. Or just buy them online like we suggest in our article about the nicest souvenirs from Berlin .

Hi! Thanks so much for your sharing. I’m so into flea market and street food. I’ll come to Berlin the 2 first week of January. May I know if there are any places like that in such cold weather?

shopping tour berlin

there are actually still a few Christmas markets in the first week of January. Maybe that would be a great alternative for you?

If not, I would check out the markets at the RAW-Gelände and Mauerpark. They both take place on sundays but check out there Facebook-pages first.

Hi, I’ve to Berlin in 2010, seems like ages ago. So now I am planning to visit Berlin once again for few days, maybe a week in January 2019. So many places to see, so many thinks to do…I also would like to catch some sales. When do they start? Last week of January?

time flies but good that you are coming back now!

Hello Job, I am visiting from Egypt. I have two questions: 1-Which mall is the one with shops offering affordable prices? is it the KaDeWe department? 2-I wear veil “headcover” and i am a little worried about safety cause of racism. what are the places i should be avoiding? Thank you for taking the time to reply to all those who visited your website 🙂

greetings from Egypt

thanks for the comment.

1. KaDeWe is not a shopping mall, it’s a department store. I would also not describe their prices as very affordable. 2. Unfortunately I cannot answer that question because I have never experienced racism like that or heard someone about it. I have seen it in the news but cannot point out a specific area where the changes are larger that it happens.

Hope that helps a bit anyway. Have a good time in Berlin.

Hi.Will be visiting Berlin in second week of December.Would you advise some inexpensive (branded)shops wherein i can buy household items, clothes and beers(german made). Also would you be able to advise some knowledgeable local guide who can show and brief me about the historic places in Germany in english and their charges.

The first two things can be bought in the larger department stores . Homemade beers can be bought close to Ostkreuz, at Strassenbrau.

I am not really sure what the prices of the guides are but Google will be able to help you there.

shopping tour berlin

Hi… Good recommendations! How about Flea markets? Are there any?

there are still flea markets in October but less than in the summer.

You could have a look in Mauerpark or at the Rathaus in Schöneberg. But it is probably best to check their website out before you go, just to be sure!

the public transport in Berlin is awesome so you will be able to reach almost all shopping areas in this article within 15-30 minutes. The closest one would probably be Alexa.

Regarding the weather: It can be quite cold in October so I would definitely take a solid jacket and some warm jumpers.

Seems all Bench stores in Berlin, Germany, are gone !!??!! The old one on Rosenthaler Strasse 50 is gone The one that (according to the Internet) is suppose to be in ALEXA shopping center – is not there

Anybody who knows some real facts – please advice as to the whereabouts of Bench Berlin ??? Please advise all and to me at [email protected]

Thanks, Ronnie

There is only a Bench outlet close to Wustermark.

Visit the website of Bench, go to the bottom and search for shops in Berlin.

When in your opinion will start Winterschlussverkauf 2016/2017, because on official site they suggest that from 30.01.2017 until half of Feburary. Is it “safe” from sales point of view go to Berlin on 4th-5th of Feburary.. it is not too late ?

I guess the best deals are already gone by then but you will probably still find some discounted articles.

If you need pretty common sizes, it might be better to visit Berlin earlier.

Thank you alot!!

Hello Marja,

The shops are normally not open on Sundays and I do not expect them to be open on the 1st and 3rd of January.

But I just read on the website of Mall of Berlin (Potdamer Platz) that the shopping Mall is open on the 31st of December (till 16.00) and also on the 3rd of January.

shopping tour berlin

Normally August is a good month for Sales. Some of them will be up to 50% off.

Most shopping malls in Berlin will offer the brands you mentioned.

Hi My boyfriend and I are traveling to Berlin from 17-20.december. We would like to experience the many Christmas markets like Berlin is so famous for. Do you have any tips that fits for two 21 year olds?

Hi Elisabeth,

You will probably like all of the markets but if I have to suggest one for young people I would say the one at Alexanderplatz next to Alexa.

The cool thing is that you can combine three christmas-markets which are all located close to eachother there.

What sightseeing tour to see main attractions in Berlin would be recommended for two days and good restaurants such as Indian or others

It is probably easiest to start at Alexanderplatz and walk to Reichstag. You can see Berliner Dom and Brandenburger Tor on the way.

Thanks for the article, it’s very exhaustive and useful. I just wanted to point out an error: I believe it’s Hackescher Markt, not Hackischer Markt

Thanks Cole!

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Supriti,

Thanks for your comment. From Tiergarten you can easily reach Alexanderplatz but also almost walk to Kurfurstendamm. Most shops are closed on Sunday, there are special days on which they are open.

The weather is great right now. Around 30 degrees.

Best wishes and have fun!

Hi, Do you know where there are some good toy shops for 3-10 year olds? Thanks Justin

There is one in the Alexa on the top-floor. I guess you will find something cool there.

Hi. I am from Brazil. I will be in Berlin next winter and I am worried about the cold weather. Please, where can I find very, very warm clothes? I don’t mind to pay for the warmest coat. What are the best places to find it? Thank you, so much.

Hi Cristina,

Depends on the style you want. There is a Quicksilver and Nortface-shop in the Alexa but there are also plenty of good brands in the Mall of Berlin.

shopping tour berlin

Hi, I’ll be at Berlin this weekend, wonder if Alexa and KadeWe open on Sunday?

Hi Ivan, thanks for your comment.

Most shops in Berlin are closed on Sunday. The KadeWe is closed and in Alexa only the Foodcourt is open…

Have fun in Berlin!

I’ve just moved to Berlin for a few days and currently living in Marzahn. I want to find a nearby place that sell cheap baby products like clothes, cribs, strollers, baby and mother care products and so on. Could you suggest any place? Thank you.

Welcome to Berlin! Unfortunately I am not very familiar with the are Marzahn so I will not be very helpful in this case.

Maybe you can check on Google directly? Or use the Public Transport to reach one of the centers in this article?

shopping tour berlin

Hi I want to travel on 5.4.2015 to Berlin and want to know where i have to visit to have good remain on berlin in this 3 days. I am with my family . Thanks

Hi Alan, thanks for the comment.

Berlin has a very good public transport system. I live here for more than 3 years now and never had to wait for a train or subway longer than 5-6 minutes.

Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg are probably areas you would have a good time with your family.

shopping tour berlin

I will be in Berlin on the 24th and 25th of April … I will be staying in the Heart oft he City East Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg .. can you recommend good shopping spots that are reasonably priced? (General shopping, jeans shoes etc.)

Also, what is the weather like during this period of the year?

Thanks, Leesha

The weather should be fine in the end of April. It has been good the last couple of weeks already so normally that should be fine.

There are no big discounts around that time of the year. But you could easily get to shopping centers like Alexa and the new Mall of Berlin.

shopping tour berlin

Hi, I will be in Berlin on march. Is there any clothes shopping center with sales and discounts in this time? Thanks in advance.

The biggest sale is in January/February and after the summer but there will probably still be some discounts in the big shopping-malls.

Check the new Mall of Berlin out, there are 300 shops.

shopping tour berlin

I am travelling to Berlin in 2 weeks, I would like to visit stores where I can find scented candles like Yankee candles. Ideally, I would like to visit a variety of gift and home deco stores, department stores but also garden centres. Could you suggest a few retailers in the town centre and/or around Berlin?

Many thanks!

Hi Carolina,

Sorry for my late reply, I have been away for a while. That is a difficult question: There is a large garden-center close to station Ostbahnhof. Maybe have a look over there?

Best wishes and good luck!

Hi , Im from Adidas India. My team and I are travelling to Berlin to do some key store visits of Adidas Sports Performance, Adidas Originals & Neo . Could you recommend the biggest stores of the same. Thanks in advance. 🙂

shopping tour berlin

Hi! I am going to H2 Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz with my class in april. We will stay for 4 days. Are there some places near by that we should visit? And where can we find shops like Zara, H&M, Urban outfitters, Mac cosmetics, Mango and Victorias secret (if those shops are in berlin) ? 🙂

Alexanderplatz is very central and you will be able to visit a lot of cool attractions. The Fernsehturm is probably the first one 🙂

I do not know about all these shops but there is a shopping center close to Alexanderplatz: It is called Alexa.

shopping tour berlin

Hi, i will be in Germany during April, where can i find sports direct shop, and Primark ? Thanks.

Hi Maya, There is a Primark on Alexanderplatz now. Across the street is Alexa and there are plenty of sport-shops. Have a good time!

shopping tour berlin

Hi, Thank you very much for the article. I will be in Berlin during 10-15 March 2015. Is there any sale that time? where can I buy reasonable price clothes, electronics, cosmetics and kitchen staff?

If you are going to be in Berlin for 5 days you can see several shopping centers.

There will not be a big sale, that one is going on as we speak. But there will be enough discounts I guess.

shopping tour berlin

Hello there, Please can you tell me where is the biggest Vero Moda store in Berlin? Many thanks!

I am not completely sure, I do not shop in Vero Moda that often 😉

But i guess there should be a large one in the Mall of Berlin.

shopping tour berlin

Hi, Between 25-29/12 what dates are shopping centers closed for holiday?

It depends on the shopping center Tal. But during christmas most shops are closed. After christmas you will be able to shop till 20.00 in most case.

You can also check the websites which can be found in this article.

Hello, I’m Mint and I come from Phuket, Thailand

shopping tour berlin

Hi all. could you please help me to know about near shopping center to the address; Friedrichstraße 151, 10117 Berlin . I will be there in 26th of November. and is this sale time in Berlin?

The nearest shopping center is the one in Friedrichstraße. It will be very close to your accomodation.

But from station Friedrichstraße you will be also able to reach Hackischer Markt (1 stop with S-Bahn) Shopping-Mall Alexa (two stops with s-bahn) very easily.

shopping tour berlin

Hello, I’am living in Bernburg(Saale) and I planned to visit Berlin in December. Indeed, I would like to know the most important historical places and museums there and if 2 days iare enough or no, also I would like to know if there is any sale at that period and which are the suitable mall or shops .

Hi Moufida,

Normally there is no large sale in December but some shops will have some minor promotions.

Two days will be hard if you want to do shopping and see some nice attractions but it is possible if you get up early and use a tight schedule.

shopping tour berlin

Hey, I’m planning to visit Berlin in January with my wife and kid. We are coming from Norway, and this article really helped us to plan some shopping. Would like to know if there is any specific sales during January.

Hi Chaminda,

In January I expect some after christmas-sales. It depends on the week in January though.

Hope you have a great time!

shopping tour berlin

I will be coming to visit Berlin 2nd week of November. I am from South Africa and I’m addicted to shoes, perfumes and hand bags. Where can I shop for them and what time do shops close?

Shops are open till 20.00 most of the time. Alexa would be a great location and there is also a new shopping Mall close to Potsdamer Platz. I will update this article soon with that location.

Hope you can find what you need!

Cheers, Job

Hello, me and my Girlfriend are coming to Berlin from the UK for NYE! We arrive on the 30th and we’re staying until the 4th! Can you recommend any where for Trainers, more Adidas Originals?

Great that you coming to Berlin. There is an Adidas Shop at Hackischer Markt.

My husband stay in Berlin now and he needs buy things for babies, toys of Fisher Price and accesories of Avent. People recommended Kadewe.. Do you think that is the best place for buy? Will He find all things there?

The Kadewe is defenitely a great suggestion. Also Galeria Kaufhof at ALexanderplatz has a lot of products for babies. Across the street you can find shopping mall Alexa for more shops.

shopping tour berlin

Hi, Thanks for the article

Its my first time to visit berlin, Where do you recommand me to stay in which area ? A place in the middle of the city where everything is down and near , clubs, bars and shopping streets ?

This all depends a lot on your preferences. How much do you want to spend and what are your plans?

Most people like Friedrichshain because there are many great clubs and the area is very “alive”. The great thing about Berlin is that you can reach every corner of the city in about 30 minutes with public transport. So in general I anything in Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg or Mitte is fine. Good luck!

shopping tour berlin

I am planning to travel to Berlin 20th Sept. I have been in Berlin twice but have never found a shopping street like other European countries, where there is many shops and no cars. Can you recoomend the one in Berlin.

Thanks a lot

The suggestions in this article are some great spots to do shopping in Berlin. I agree that many other big cities have their shops more centrally together but a shopping-mall like Alexa will give you a few hours of shopping-fun for sue.

shopping tour berlin

Hi, I am in Berlin Aug 31- Sep 4 and i am hoping to do some Shopping. I am staying in Mitte will it be easy to get to Kurfürstendamm and Friedrichstrasse from my Hotel? Also looking to go to Hard Rock Cafe

Hi Charlotte, thanks for your comment.

Yes it will not be difficult. You can take the S-Bahn to Zoologischer Garten and this will take you about 15-20 minutes. From there it is about 5 minutes walk. The Hard Rock Cafe is located in at Kürfurstendamm so it should be quite easy to combine that with some shopping!

shopping tour berlin

Hey,, I’m from Australia and was just wondering where a good spot or best shop is for street wear, eg skate wear, indi button ups and surf wear .. Thanks

I know that there are a few cool shops on the topfloor of the Alexa. One is Quicksilver and I think also a Northface and one other shop which sells that kind of clothing. Maybe have a look in the full list of shops in the article.

Good luck man!

shopping tour berlin

Hi, could you recommend any good skateboarding shops in Berlin and maybe their address if possible.

Titus is one of the most famous ones. It is located at the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 9.

shopping tour berlin

I am in the United States and would like to purchase a gift card for the Gerry Weber store in Berlin for a friend who live in Berlin. I cannot read German so have been unsuccessful in doing a search on line for this service. Any help would be appreciatd.

I would suggest typing “Gerry Weber gutschein karte kaufen” in Google and pressing at the House of Gerry Weber link. Than you can just put the Gift Card in your “Warenkorb” and pay.

You can also put a full URL in Google-Translate and it will translate a whole website for you.

shopping tour berlin

I am in Berlin at the end of the week and looking to do some street shopping for casual clothes. Where would I find the big Puma store. Also would there be places on sale around Mitte. Thanks V

There is sale in many shops in Berlin at the moment. If you really want to shop and not much more I would suggest you visit Alexa: Three floor full of shops and many interesting brands.

There are three puma-stores in Berlin but none of them is close to my suggestions. Maybe visit the one at Alte Potsdamer Straße 7, it is not far from Mitte by public transport.

shopping tour berlin

I booked flight to Berlin in the beginning of August. Being male in ~30 years, I am surprisingly tough in shopping clothes, shame on me 😀 Anyways, what do you think of this so called outlet area outside Berlin? Have you been there, is it worth it? (good discounts etc.)

I mean this one: http://www.mcarthurglen.com/de/designer-outlet-berlin/en/

Hi Timo! That outlet is quite cool but in August you will find a lot of Sale in Berlin anyway. Maybe you should visit some of the places in this article and if you do not find what you are looking for you can always visit the Outlet. It is a bit out of the city and not so easy to reach.

shopping tour berlin

Hello can I know when is the sale will be in berlin?

Hi! Thanks for your comment. The sale will probably start during this month and will continue till the end of August.

shopping tour berlin

Thanks for your article! It helps me a lot. 🙂 Would you recommend some shopping areas for baby and kid’s clothing plz?

Your comment got stuck in the spambox, my apologies for the late reply.

I absolutely loved the fashion tour: I learned a lot about the local fashion scene as well as the fashion industry in general. During the tour we visited several unique and alternative shops, and Josie, the guide, provided useful context about them. I definitely wouldn't have been able to discover them on my own!

This tour is a nice selection of stores that focus on upcycling and sustainable clothing/ fashion. I really enjoyed the neighborhood aspect of the tour. That the shops were not in touristy areas. Tania was a great host spending time with each guest :)

Really enjoyed this tour with Lilla. She takes you to some unique shops and her passion for sustainable fashion and support to local designers and businesses is what I really admire. Berlin is Europe 's undisputed Capital of Cool. After all, it's home to Berghain, Highsnobiety, and the Berlinale. It makes sense, then, that the city is also home to a thriving fashion scene. If Berlin shopping is one thing, it's in tune with the zeitgeist: from independent brands to concept stores, it's always on the cusp of the new. If you want to bring that specific brand of Berliner Stil back home, these are the brands to buy and where to buy them.

Jil Sander Spring 2024 Ready to Wear

Some of fashion’s chicest wardrobes are built on the foundations of Jil Sander ’s minimalist collections. The German designer founded her namesake label in Hamburg in 1968, and, over fifty years later, it is still synonymous with modern style. The brand’s less-is-more approach to fashion still resonates today, especially among shoppers with a penchant for quiet luxury.

Where to shop: KaDeWe (pronounced Kah-Day-Vay) is Germany's premier department store. A destination all on its own, it's called the "Department Store of the West" for a reason. Its roster of brands includes the world's leading luxury fashion designers, as well as emerging labels-to-know.

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld

The first thing that comes to mind when we hear Karl Lagerfeld is Chanel — the epitome of French design. But this German multi-hyphenate spent his childhood in the posh enclave of Blankenese, just northwest of Hamburg. Among his many enduring contributions to fashion is the eponymous Karl Lagerfeld brand, which features a logo of his silhouette complete with the unmistakable ponytail and aviator sunglasses.

Where to shop: There’s more than one location in Berlin (including an outlet store), but we suggest visiting the sprawling flagship on Kurfürstendamm, a major shopping district that the locals call “Ku’damm”.

Exterior of Hugo Boss

Hugo Boss needs no introduction: it’s famous in the world of men’s fashion for those perfectly tailored suits. But between its two premium fashion brands, BOSS and HUGO, it offers more than just menswear. It has a full range of women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories; children’s styles; and even a home & lifestyle segment.

Where to shop: Ku’damm, of course. Located at Kurfürstendamm 25, the Boss Store offers the Hugo Boss experience for both men and women. But if that location happens to be out of your way, you’ll find a sprinkling of Boss boutiques throughout the city – including a men’s store at the Mall of Berlin.

Kauf Dich Glucklich

Credit: ullstein bild/Getty Images

Kauf Dich Glücklich

Kauf Dich Glücklich began as a café that sold mid-century furniture. Over two decades later, it's a lifestyle store with Berlin's signature quirkiness written all over it. It carries playful décor and fashion for all ages, including the store's own line of sustainable goods. The name means "buy yourself happiness” – which we're going to make our new motto.

Where to shop: Visit the brand's spacious and bright outpost in Berlin Mitte. Turn your shopping excursion into a full morning outing by visiting the KDG Café in Prenzlauer Berg –it's touted as having the best waffles in Berlin.

Blue Adidas product

Adidas store in Berlin

You no doubt know the name and recognise the three-stripe logo. But did you know that two of the biggest names in street style, Adidas and Puma, were founded by brothers Adi and Rudolf Dassler in Bavaria, Germany ? Since 1949, Adidas has released some of the most coveted sneakers in the world, like the Gazelle, Samba and Campus sneakers. The brand has also collaborated with fashion stars like Stella McCartney, Grace Wales Bonner and Yohji Yamamoto. Runners and yogis alike will find sports shoes, activewear and training accessories among the brand’s expansive offering.

Where to shop: It’s hard to choose between the two adidas flagships in Berlin. The Adidas Originals Flagship Store in Berlin Mitte offers limited edition products, as well as select items from its special collaborations, while the Adidas Flagship Store on Tauentzienstrasse is a modern, interactive concept space that spans three stories. You can’t go wrong with either.

Handcrafted footwear

Credit: Andreas Rentz/Getty Images

Speaking of shoes: Berlin-based Aeyde has garnered a cult following for its handcrafted footwear. The leather goods label also carries bags and other accessories, all made in Italy from high-quality materials.

Where to shop: If you visit Berlin before the end of July 2024, you’ll have a chance to stop by the famous Galeries Lafayettes before it bids adieu ! to the city. Don’t worry if you miss that opportunity, though. You can find a range of Aeyde styles at KaDeWe or at the luxury shoe store Budapester .

Mykita model

If Aeyde is the “sole” of Berlin, eyewear label Mykita is its face. Not only has it called Berlin home since it was founded in 2003, but it also has that iconoclastic vibe felt in every corner of the city. Designed and manufactured at the Mykita Haus in Kreuzberg, its range of optical glasses and sunglasses can be described as unconventional, innovative and unique. There’s a reason that they’re fashion’s favourite frames.

Where to shop: Andreas Murkudis is part-boutique, part-gallery. Housed across three distinct spaces on Potsdamer Strasse, this highly curated collection is staged like an exhibition. In addition to fashion, this store also carries artisanal goods from other German brands and heritage houses.

Woman handling Rimowa suitcase

Have you run out of space in your suitcase by now? German brand Rimowa is the leading name in luxury luggage. Founded in Cologne in 1898, the brand is most famous for its aluminium suitcase – a style that has endured for decades. Whether you’re the over-packer who needs that extra checked bag, or the frequent business traveller looking for new carryon luggage, Rimowa has a design to match your lifestyle.

Where to shop: Apropos is a concept store located in a grand historic building on Berlin's Luxury Mile. Those with an appreciation for design will find there's more to love than just the fashion here. Take in the atmosphere by sipping an espresso at the Apropos Café on the mezzanine level

2NE1 Comeback 2024: World Tour Cities & Concert Schedule

By Arpita Adhya

YG Entertainment’s iconic girl group 2NE1 will reunite and even go on a world tour in the coming days. The music label has revealed the girl group’s plan to hold their 15th-anniversary concert in October and tour more countries in the forthcoming months.

2NE1 debuted in 2009 with four members: Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy. While most K-pop groups disband or some members leave a group after their initial seven-year contract is over, 2NE1’s unity has impressed fans. Even when the group was on a continuous hiatus, they kept their bond intact and assured fans that they would return as a whole group.

The girl group has kept their word and is finally returning to the music scene in 2024. With the backing of YG Entertainment, fans also expect that 2NE1 will release new music and keep up their artistic momentum.

2NE1 comeback: YG K-pop girl group world tour 2024 schedule

2NE1’s reunion will happen through the group’s 15th anniversary tour. The girl band will hold the first world tour concert in Seoul in October. Later, they will travel to Tokyo and Osaka for more concerts in November and December.

YG Entertainment’s head producer, Yang Hyun-Suk, teased in a video that fans can expect the group to visit international cities for concerts next year after the beginning of the much-anticipated world tour.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 had previously surprised fans with a surprise reunion at Coachella 2022. The reunion likewise sparked a frenzy within the fandom. Two years after their Coachella reunion, the group will return officially to the K-pop scene in October 2024.

Music-wise, 2NE1 dropped their last single, “Goodbye,” in 2017, which earned over 160,000 downloads within the first week of its release. The song charted at 23 on South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart (named Gaon Digital chart at the time of the release).

Warren Haynes strums his guitar in concert.

If you’ve always dreamed of a concert with a little Allman Brothers Band , some Grateful Dead , a touch of Gov’t Mule, and a bit of Warren Haynes Band sprinkled in for good measure, we’ve got the show for you.

The inimitable singer-songwriter — and former member of all the legendary aforementioned groups — announced he’s embarking on his fall ‘Million Voices Whisper Tour’ in support of his new album, due out in late September or early October.

Toward the end of the fall run, the 64-year-old rock vet will headline at Syracuse’s Oncenter on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre on Friday, Oct. 11.

“We’re going to play as much material as we can that will span all of my solo records, some Allman Brothers songs, some Gov’t Mule songs, covers of choice,” Haynes told The Pitch .

Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming ‘Million Voices Whisper’ shows on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, July 26.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Warren Haynes Band tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Warren Haynes Band set list

Although Haynes likes to mix it up, here’s a good idea of what he’ll take to the stage based on what he performed at a recent gig in Grand Rapids:

1st Set – Without Orchestra

01.) “Man in Motion” (Warren Haynes song) 02.) “River’s Gonna Rise” (Warren Haynes song) 03.) “Invisible” (Warren Haynes song) 2nd Set – With Orchestra

04.) “Dreams & Songs” 05.) “Dreams” (The Allman Brothers Band cover) 06.) “Banks of the Deep End” (Gov’t Mule cover) 07.) “Spots of Time” 08.) “It Makes No Difference” (The Band cover) 09.) “Terrapin Station” (Grateful Dead cover) 10.) “Slipknot!” (Grateful Dead cover) 3rd Set With Orchestra

11.) “Raven Black Night” (Gov’t Mule cover) 12.) “Thorazine Shuffle” (Gov’t Mule cover) 13.) “Fire in the Kitchen” (Warren Haynes song) 14.) “Black Peter” 15.) “Instrumental Illness” (The Allman Brothers Band cover) 16.) “Whipping Post” (The Allman Brothers Band cover) 17.) “Dreams & Songs reprise”

Warren Haynes Band new music

Ahead of the new record’s release, Haynes has released one song this year.

The searing, bluesy “No Need To Worry” featuring Cactus and Jorgen Carlsson is four minutes of wailing guitar riffs, impassioned yowls, and show-stopping tempo changes.

While we don’t know if it will appear on “Million Voices Whisper,” we still recommend giving the six-minute jam a spin here .

Warren Haynes Band members

According to Rock and Blues Muse , Haynes will be joined by a “new all-star lineup” that includes “Gov’t Mule bassist  Kevin Scott , veteran WHB member and two-time Grammy Award-winning drummer  Terence Higgins,   Greg Osby  on sax and…longtime friend and famed keyboardist  John Medeski  (most notably known as one-third of the groundbreaking trio Medeski, Martin & Wood).”

Huge acts on tour in 2024

For those that like their rock and blues Southern fried, the live music options are aplenty this year.

Here are just five of our favorites you won’t want to miss in the next few months.

•  Allman-Betts Family Revival

•  Chris Stapleton

•  Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats

•  Joe Bonamassa

•  Tedeschi Trucks Band

Travis Kelce reportedly went on a European shopping spree for his girlfriend , Taylor Swift, before her Eras Tour shows in Milan earlier this month.

The Kansas City Chiefs player spent nearly $75,000 on several stylish pieces from lavish designers including Valentino, Prada, Bottega Veneta, and Fendi to add to Swift’s wardrobe as they hit the fashion capital together, the Sun reports .

“Travis knows Taylor loves these brands,” a source told the outlet. “He wants her to have a true Italian touch in her closet.”

“Travis loves Valentino, both for him and Taylor,” said the insider.

Kelce, 34, allegedly settled on four Valentino pieces for Swift: a $16,000 short embroidered dress, a $5,200 tweed dress, a $3,330 calfskin hobo bag and Garavani Escape large shopping tote.

He also purchased a few more pieces from Prada including a $3,200 mini dress.

At Bottega Venetta, Kelce reportedly bought a pair of Sharp Chain Pumps for $1,350 and another pair of Cha-Cha Lace-up calfskin shoes, which retail at $1,600.

He finished up his shopping trip by hitting Fendi where he purchased another bag, a pair of silk pants, and a silk dress for a combined total of $11,500.

“This Euro part of her tour is turning into an exceptional experience because Travis is supporting and showing her love 24/7,” the insider said.

“Their time spent in Milan was a unique experience for Taylor, as Travis showed just how much he loves to gift her meaningful presents.”

In addition to the costly gifts, the outlet also reports that the couple is allegedly looking to buy a home in Lake Cuomo together.

Reps for Kelce and Swift did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The new report comes shortly after it was revealed that an American man, who was allegedly stalking Swift, was arrested on Wednesday night ahead of her show in Gelsenkirchen, Germany .

The man allegedly made threats against her and Kelce on social media.

When event organizers warned authorities, he was detained after “an initial investigation couldn’t entirely rule out a risk” and was held behind bars until the singer finished up her shows in the city.
