Terra Travel has been operating in the Rushmere Shopping Centre since 1982 and is one of the company’s three branches – the others reside in Lurgan and Portadown. Headed up by director Terence Murphy, who took over the day-to-day running of the store from his father and present chairman Terry Murphy, it’s clear this family has a knack for selling travel. terratravel.co.uk
The team of six experienced agents have a dedicated approach to keeping on top of travel trends, which has seen them undertake extensive training in areas including adventure touring, cruise and social media.
Such is this team’s devotion to their brand, assistant manager Janine Barr recently had her car bedecked in Terra Travel branding – so if you see her cruising down the M1, be sure to give a friendly honk.
Social media, in particular Facebook, has been proving to be a huge success for the agency, with a daily minimum of five holiday ideas generating at least one booking in the first 24 hours of going live. A December New York city break, which Terra offered with a £300 discount, resulted in 10 confirmations on the first day for a trip that otherwise may have been unaffordable for many.
Placing considerable importance on customer care – including working after hours to reclaim luggage misplaced on a cruise, liaising with an airport to replace a missing expensive watch and assisting with insurance claims – has seen Terra Travel receive 200 positive reviews on Facebook, along with a 70% repeat business rate and an abundance of chocolates and thank you cards.
Regular in-store client evenings, appearances at Portadown’s Country Comes To Town heritage festival and a resolve to help as many charities as possible not only ensures the brand stays relevant but also helps promote its friendly and down-to-earth business style.

Terra Travel was founded in 1972 by its present chairman, Terry Murphy. Originally dealing with school and group travel, the company has grown to become one of the best known brand names in travel in N. Ireland, with offices in Lurgan, Rushmere Shopping Centre (Craigavon) and Portadown. Still very much a hands-on family business, Terry has as fellow directors sons Damian and Terry (jnr) and daughter Marie Murphy. With a total staff of around 20, Terra Travel covers the whole travel spectrum including flights, package holidays, cruises, coach tours, short breaks and shipping.
