In 2022, The Gaslight Anthem returned to the stage for the first time in four years.

Unlike those shows (which celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their breakthrough LP The '59 Sound ), last year's tour explored every corner of the band's discography in festival and headline dates around the world.

Having recorded their first album in nearly a decade and with a new single "Positive Charge" out now, these 2023 shows mark a new beginning for The Gaslight Anthem.

Gaslight rocks.

Love them so much I am so excited to go to the next one. Whoo hoo

Unreal gig!!

The band were in blistering form and played a fantastic set list!! Brian was a little feisty but performed excellently.

(Second) Best Show of 2023

Second only because we were fortunate enough to see Taylor Swift earlier this year…Brian and the Boys put on a HELL of a show! They rocked their hearts out and interacted with the fans (sorry Benny!) like we were all long-time friends. My kids and I love Brian and are so happy to see TGA back together (this was our second time seeing them, so we’re pretty new to the scene, considering). Will go again when we get the chance 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Better than the first time I’ve seen them

They are definitely back, The Gaslight Anthem did not disappoint at all and the venue was pretty dope as I hadn’t been there in years. Would gladly go again for another show especially TGA.

Amazing show and venue

The Gaslight Anthem didn’t disappoint. The Brooklyn Bowl is an amazing venue. Staff and facilities very nice. Will be a go to spot for future Vegas trips. Purchased upper balcony tickets. Not sure it was worth the up-charge. But it gives you full access to the whole venue. So not that bad.

Disappointed Fan

To be clear, we are long-time fans of The Gaslight Anthem, and we were so excited to drive 4 hours to see them live at the Hard Rock Wheatland. But from the start of their set something felt off. The band walked on stage without even a glance or a word to the audience and started playing. The mix was terrible and guitar so loud that we could not even hear Brian’s voice. If I didn’t already know the lyrics and the songs I would have had no idea what he was singing. Every few songs brian would head back to the drums for some banter with Benny but barely said two words to the audience the entire show, which made for many awkward and silent moments for the crowd. The one time he did talk was to reprimand a fan for playfully tossing his hat toward stage. We noticed Brian eye rolling while singing and generally gave the impression that he did want to be there, the crowd was an inconvenience, and he couldn’t wait to be done. We generally love their music and know that all bands have off nights, but when your job is to entertain and give your fans a show and you barely acknowledge their presence for 2 hours straight it really made us question his sincerity as an artist and would make us think twice before paying good money to see them perform again.

Fantastic jam

So good to jam to some nostalgic hits - great band and great set. Only issue is the long time b/w the opener and Gaslight - after a long sound check and 45 minutes, we were ready for the show only for them to bring a .... comedian... ? I do not understand why this happened. I bought tickets to a concert and there was an entire hour of no music in-between artists and they threw in a comedian. This made no sense and really took away from the event. I bought tickets for music... I would appreciate the event focusing on music.

Excellent as always

Attended with my daughter for a girls’ night with a band we love. Couldn’t have had a better evening together dancing and singing in an excellent venue. Can’t wait to do it again!!

Awesome venue and band. Sad 4 Early ending

Super awesome new venue. GLA was amazing. Just wish they had more time to play and talk. Ended at 10:30. I guess I thought it would be 11. But they were rushed off stage at 10:30. Super disappointed. :(. Will be back though.

Great show!

Awesome show, Gaslight brought the energy and we enjoyed the venue. Was nice to see ticket prices not gouged like most other tickets bot bought and resold on ticket master these days. Keep the fans at the shows ticket master stop this scalping/gouging!

The Gaslight Anthem (formed in 2006) is an American punk rock band from New Jersey, U.S., signed to Island Records.

The Gaslight Anthem are formulated of Brian Fallon on lead vocals and guitar, Alex Rosamilia on guitar and backing vocals, Alex Levine on bass and backing vocals and Benny Horowitz on drums and percussion. Previously Brian Fallon had been in a number of bands, although the most recent This Charming Man featured all the current members except Alex Rasamilia who replaced Mike Volpe. His departure signalled a change in musical direction and subsequently a change in name to The Gaslight Anthem.

The band’s first two releases “Sink and Swin” and “Señor and the Queen” received positive reviews however it wasn’t until the album “The ’59 Sound” that the band really found its feet in the music industry, receiving glorious reviews from a whole host of sources including: 'emusic' who named “The ’59 Sound” 2008’s best album of the year; and Pitchfork who gave the album a glowing 8.6/10. Critical acclaim brought Gaslight’s music to the forefront, Gaslight are an old breed of punk rock that follows in the tradition of bands like Social Distortion, Alkaline Trio and Bouncing Souls, the former of which Gaslight supported on their European tour in 2009.

2009 also brought fellow New Jersey, U.S. musician Bruce Springsteen into view, who made a special appearance during Gaslight’s Glastonbury set, and in return Brian Fallon of the band accompanied Springsteen for his song “No Surrender” for his headlining show. The result of which saw sales of “The ’59 Sound” grow over 200%.

Since then the band has released three more albums entitled “American Slang” released in 2010, “Handwritten” released two years later in 2012, and 2014’s “Get Hurt.” The albums show a progression of the band’s music, steering away from the tiring Bruce Springsteen connections and utilising other musicians for influence and in doing so challenging their listeners.

Live reviews

Walking onto the stage The Gaslight Anthem are here to do a job. That job is to play some music and it is clear that the band mean business.

With little introduction or fan fare Brian Fallon gets right into it, much to the delight of his fans. Dedicated fans line the pit, fists pumping and lungs bursting as they sing along to every number. Several crowd members are almost frenzy like in their adoration of the band.

Touring to promote their latest album " Get Hurt" the New Jersey quartet of rockers take to the show with minimal fuss and polished perfection.

The crowed has been warmed up by Indie Rocker Chris Farren and are chomping at the bit to hear the latest from the very popular American band as they play to a packed room.

Playing crowd favourites such as "59 Sound" and " Hand Written" it is a mix of old and new music for the 90 min set. At one stage Fallon teases the crowd by playing a few bars of the classic " Jesse's Girl." The crowd laps it up so he basks in the adoration and plays a few verses.

He's not a talkative man, not tending to introduce the songs much, Fallon would rather just play.

The only time he really does talk is when over enthusiastic fans yell out song requests. Then we see glimmers of a cheeky personality shine through. At one stage a fan yells for an autograph, holding up what looks to be a picture of the band. Fallon responds by hauling the guy on stage, introducing him as Matt and dedicating the next song to him. It's a song about "Not being a dummy when you grow up" and it's called "How".

For much of the show the band are pretty consistent, playing each song with ease; transitioning from one song to the next. The songs have a tendency to sound the same, but it is a good sound and enjoyable to listen to.

Closing with the crowd clapping to "The Backseat" at 10:15pm the evening abruptly comes to an end without an encore and the band promptly leaves the stage as the house lights come up. There is no need for any thing more, the band have come to do a job, and they did that well.

Seven times in for this reporter and The Gaslight Anthem are the gift that keeps on giving. The New Jersey rockers have matured from scrappy yet literate and emotional punks to an assured and righteous rock sensation who’ve claimed every stage from coffee shop to stadium as wel-and-truly theirs. One only has to see them live to witness that fact for themselves, it’s in every part of their performance, from Alex Rosamilia’s subtle, flowing guitar lines to Brian Fallon’s truly magnetic charisma and heart rending voice imbuing every song with the right amount of wit, soul, power and depth they need.

The chemistry on display is palpable. The four members of the band (expanded to five when playing live with extra guitarist Ian Perkins needed to capture the expanded sound of the bands later albums) are so road-hardened that they seem born to play together. Dextrous enough to handle everything from The Navesink Banks’ hushed folk rock, The 59 Sound’s heart-in-your-mouth punk rock and Biloxi Parish’s crunching riffage like it was as natural as breathing. Coming very soon is a new album entitled 'Get Hurt,' which promises a sizeable overhaul in sound and style but we can all bet money that whatever they come up with, The Gaslight Anthem will be able to put on a truly unforgettable live show with it. See you down the front!

Complementing the relentless energy of punk with the blue-collar fervour of Springsteen is no mean feat, but New Jersey four-piece The Gaslight Anthem have been doing it for close to ten years now. The band have come a long way from their humble New Brunswick beginnings – nowadays their unique brand of American punk rock is filling theatres the world over. Over the years London seems to have become a particular home-away-from-home, with The Troxy chosen as the setting for a live DVD, and Alexandra Palace set to play host to their biggest UK date yet. Still, despite their reputation as a veteran live band, don't expect a The Gaslight Anthem show to involve pyrotechnics. You can leave your 3D glasses at home, too. This band are storytellers first and foremost, and the romanticism and nostalgia of singer Brian Fallon's songs needs no embellishment: ‘The '59 Sound’, for example, harks back to “grandma's radio” and “old gospel choirs”, while ‘45’ pays homage to the rapidly ageing 7" record. The Gaslight Anthem's live show is equal parts poignant sincerity and muscular urgency: they are a rare breed of punk band that's unafraid to wear their collective heart on their sleeve, and they are not one to be missed.

I've seen a lot of bands live but few can even hold a candle (or a gaslight) to the Gaslight Anthem's live performance. September 27 2014 was my second time seeing them and they completely outdid themselves. New setlists every night ensure that you will have a unique experience from every other show on the tour, and when they're performing, Gaslight just kills it on every song. These guys are such tight musicians. Brian told us that he actually has a chest infection at the moment and he considered not playing, but then he said, "That's not how we do things," and launched into a spot on Tom Waits impression. They played songs from every release, including my favorite 1930 off of Sink or Swim, and Brian engaged in some classic bashing of Southern California with us, which is about the one thing you can do to most endear yourself to a NorCal crowd. I love Gaslight. Please go see them. For your own sake.

What can I say??? From Matthew Ryan, Dave Hause, Tim Hause... and then... the main attraction. Kicking off with Handwritten... bloody hell. It was magic... we were in the Accessibility part. The security again.. we're so helpful... I was blown away. And then the 59 Sound what we were all there for. The atmosphere was electric... I thought I may explode... songs from the 59 Sound album and Hanwritten... with some extras thrown in. This concert was 10years in the making... I hope we don't have to wait too long to see them together again..

Amazing show, this is the second time I have seen The Gaslight Anthem and their stage presence has improved immensely! I loved how talkative Brian was with the crowd and how much he praised Seattle. I flew down from Canada to see them at the Showbox, as this is one of my all time favorite venues and I was not disappointed. I loved the set list and the rendition of "Wish you were Here" was very well done.

Fantastic Band + perfect venue = Amazing night !

The Gaslight Anthem add extra dates to UK and Ireland 2024 tour

The Gaslight Anthem’s 2024 headline tour has gotten even bigger, with new shows announced in Edinburgh, London and Dublin.

The Gaslight Anthem add extra dates to UK and Ireland 2024 tour

Due to massive demand, The Gaslight Anthem have added three more shows to their 2024 UK and Ireland headline tour.

Fresh from the release of incredible comeback album History Books, the band have announced a brand-new gig in Edinburgh (at the O2 Academy), as well as adding a third show in London (at the Roundhouse in Camden), and a second night at Dublin’s 3Olympia in March next year.

On top of all that, the band released a music video for History Books’ wonderful opening song Spider Bites, which you can check out below. Speaking to Kerrang! about the lyrics to that track, frontman Brian Fallon shared: “The way that I write songs is I just sit there and type whatever – I’ll sit down and be like, ‘It’s raining… the house across the street has got a brown roof…’ and start typing. I was sitting there with the guitar, and I was writing the lyrics, ‘ My teeth are crumbling structures ,’ and that was because my wife was at the dentist – she had a massive infection in her mouth. I wrote that because I felt bad for her.

“And then I was thinking about different things happening, and I said, ‘What’s the point? Why do we go through all this stuff in life?’ When we’re kids we think everything’s gonna be cool, and we grow up and find out everybody sucks, and it’s all about money and politics and that’s it, and no-one cares about anyone. I was like, ‘Why do we do this?’ And I thought, ‘Well, for each other. That’s why.’ So I literally just wrote, ‘ So we struggle for each other .’ It just came out and I was like, ‘My god, that’s it!’ It really hit me, and I thought it was one of the best things I’d ever written.”

The concert began with an epic, 15-minute version of ‘Cortez The Killer’ that featured extra lyrics recently unearthed by Young. Guitarist-singer Micah Nelson, Willie’s son, very ably assumed the role in Crazy Horse of Nils Lofgren, now on tour with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.

E Street Band members returned to MetLife Stadium for Devils and Flyers NHL game

E Street has left its mark on the NHL.

Mighty Max Weinberg and Jake Clemons, both members of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, were in the house at the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers NHL Stadium Series game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Feb. 17.

Weinberg introduced the Devils, who were serenaded by the Gaslight Anthem when they came onto the ice, and he also introduced Clemons, who played an instrumental version of the National Anthem on his saxophone before the game. Clemons is the nephew of the late Clarence Clemons.

“We have a special guest here tonight, currently performing on Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's world tour and here to play our National Anthem," Weinberg said. "Please welcome Jake Clemons!”

Gaslight Anthem, which formed in New Brunswick, played “Howl” as the Devils took the ice and after every Devils' goal, and “45” during the broadcast. Before the game, the Jonas Brothers , raised in Wyckoff, played a concert in the stadium.

Jay Weinberg, Max's son and fill-in E Street Band drummer, went for a skate on the ice before the game.

“Such a fun time ripping it up on the ice today,” said Jay, a Middletown native, on social media.

The Devils won 6-3. The New York Rangers defeated the New York Islanders 6-5 in overtime at MetLife on Feb. 18.

Max Weinberg’s Jukebox was the house band in 2018 for the outdoor New Year’s Day game between the Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres at Citi Field in New York City.

Springsteen and the E Street Band played MetLife late last summer, on Aug. 30, Sept. 1 and 3. The shows were the last for the band before Springsteen took a break from touring to treat his peptic ulcer disease.

The tour starts again March 19 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.
