This review might not be completely objective as Abel has been my favourite singer for a few years now. However, I can definitely admit the Starboy tour date in Paris was the best pop concert I've been to this year. Even though some songs could have been put out of the tracklist, he mostly sang his catchiest songs of his career, no matter the era. He has great, or should I say, tremendous energy as he continuously sang twenty-something songs with no pause in between. He has no trouble reaching high notes live, his voice sounding even more heavenly in real life. That night, he invited Travis Scott on stage who pumped up the crowd more than him, which is a shame and showcases very well his lack of success and recognition in France, yet, in a sold out stadium. Most people actually didn't even know his real name or the lyrics of his songs ! I would recommend any "real fan" who has known him for a while or who likes his last album a lot to go to a Starboy tour date. I promise you, you won't regret it.
The concert was absolutely stunning. A starship was used and the lights were coordinated very well. Abel sang amazingly in person and I loved jumping up and down screaming with other members of the audience while he sang. The concert was truly magical and I enjoyed every second Abel stood on stage.
As for the other singers who appeared on stage, I was very satisfied with their singing as well. They did an amazing job and captured the entire audience. In between Abel's music, the other singers such as Lil Uzi and 6lack played their hits on stage and the whole crowd became even more alive. If I the concert played out any other way, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as this concert.

The Weeknd Announces 2022 North American Tour
By Nina Corcoran
The Weeknd has announced a 2022 tour in support of his most recent albums, Dawn FM and 2020’s After Hours . The first leg of the trek will see him perform concerts in stadia across the United States and Canada. The tour will feature special guest Doja Cat . According to a press release, there will be more concerts in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East announced soon. Find the dates for the first leg below.
The Weeknd has also partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to launch the XO Humanitarian Fund, Powered by World Food Programme. The fund works toward ending the global hunger crisis. The Weeknd has donated $500,000 to the fund, according to a press release, and plans to contribute an additional $1 from each tour ticket sold. “The goal with this fund is to provide immediate life-saving support to people who are on the brink of starvation,” the Weeknd said in a statement. “I’m so thankful to have WFP as a partner and to further expand our reach to those who need it most.”
Last year, the Weeknd postponed his tour for the third time due to the pandemic . When explaining his reasons for doing so, the Weeknd promised the new version of the tour would be “something bigger and special for you which requires stadiums.”
After announcing the end of his After Hours era with “ Take My Breath ” last summer, the Weeknd revealed Dawn FM just a few days before its arrival last month. Swedish House Mafia remixed “ Sacrifice ” for an “Alternate World” edition of the project, which also included the joint track “ Moth to a Flame ” and Agents of Time’s remix of “Take My Breath.”
The Weeknd has been a busy collaborator in recent months, as well, appearing on new tracks with FKA twigs , Post Malone , and Rosalía , plus a posthumous release from Aaliyah . He unveiled his new immersive television special, The Weeknd x The Dawn FM Experience , through Prime Video in February

The Weeknd Didn't Let The Pouring Rain Stop Him At Stunning Brazil Concert
When it rains it pours, and when Abel Tesfaye is committed to giving a great performance, not even a "Hurricane" can stop him.
Everyone knows that The Weeknd is an incredible performer, and his recent show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil proves that to a completely new level. Moreover, many clips of his concert emerged online that depict him performing to the same standard of quality- despite the pouring rain in the stadium. Of course, it's always pretty inconvenient for the crowd to face rain during a show, but that bother is exponentially higher for artists. It's amazing that things ran as well as they did from the looks of it, and the Canadian superstar still captivated the crowd as they sang along to his hits. Sure, the rain also just adds a coolness factor, so it ended up working out just fine.
Furthermore, the performances during this tour is only part of the greatness it's offering. For example, apparently The Weeknd's trek in Colombia boosted the nation's economy considerably, and that takes a big dent. It's been one of the most sought-after and also acclaimed concert series of the past few years, and it spans two full studio albums- with one project left to complete the trilogy. Abel Tesfaye might be hanging up his moniker soon, but it's clear his creativity and artistry won't be held back, whether by rain or otherwise.

The Weeknd Isn't Bothered By The Rain: Watch
Unfortunately, we're starting to get the final stages of The Weeknd right now, starting off with his final feature under that name. That came in the form of Diddy 's new album The Love Album: Off The Grid , and fans loved what they heard on the R&B-centric LP. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like he will completely cut off music in the pursuit of future endeavors in entertainment and beyond. As such, the XO superstar might just perform and record under a different name, and his catalog will remain a gem in the 2010s and 2020s decades.
Meanwhile, with more shows to go, the 33-year-old has plenty more chances to look cool in the rain. Even without that extra stage design, another incredible run of shows where he gives it all onstage will follow. The sky is stormy, but the future looks bright for The Weeknd. Keep checking in with HNHH for more news and the latest updates on the "Snowchild" hitmaker.

The 11 Best Puerto Rico Tours
Experience island living at its best on one of these guided trips.
Getty Images
Coffee is a staple beverage in Puerto Rico; you can sample local brews on several food tours.
Whether you want to explore the rainforest, soar above the trees on a zip line , taste your way through Old San Juan or cruise to a nearby island, you'll find that each of these Puerto Rico tours boast friendly guides ready to share the beauty of their home. After considering both traveler opinion and expert sentiment, U.S. News determined that the following are the best Puerto Rico tours.
San Juan: Flavors Food Tours San Juan – Classic Old San Juan Food Tour
Sample the celebrated food and drink of Puerto Rico on this three-hour walking tour that visits several eateries, bakeries and coffee houses – usually five in total. Fare featured on this journey through Old San Juan's cobblestone streets typically includes ceviche, chocolate, mofongo (a Puerto Rican fried plantain dish) and a rum cocktail. Along the way, guides share insights regarding the area's history, architecture and culture, which visitors find both informative and entertaining. The food wins high marks, too.
The price – around $125 for adults and $85 for children – includes the food tastings and (for adults) a cocktail. Tours typically run daily at 10 and 11:30 a.m. as well as 3 and 4:30 p.m. Flavors of San Juan also offers a rum-focused tour and private outings.

Fajardo: Yokahú Kayak Trips – Bio Bay Kayaking
Visiting Puerto Rico's bioluminescent bays (which glow thanks to tiny microorganisms who live in the waters) is a must-do for many travelers; this trip will help you check that item off your list. The two-hour kayak tour takes travelers across Fajardo's Laguna Grande to see it glow under the moonlight. It also includes a trip across a mangrove-surrounded canal. Guides provide information regarding the bio bay and the tiny critters shining from within it. Paddlers generally find the guides helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. However, several note that even in the best viewing conditions, the bioluminescence is dim.
Tours take place every day except Sunday at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. (though times may vary slightly depending on the season). Tickets start at $55, and that includes use of a kayak, instruction on how to use it, as well as snacks. Participants must be at least 6 years old; pregnant women may not join the tour. The company also offers a combo tour of the bio bay and El Yunque National Rainforest .
Luquillo: Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park – ATV Puerto Rico
The creeks, hills and trails of Puerto Rico's rainforest can be explored atop all-terrain vehicles on this fast-paced tour. After instruction on how to drive the ATVs, a guide will lead you through Carabalí Rainforest Park (which is nestled near El Yunque rainforest) to explore Puerto Rico's natural beauty. You might even have the opportunity to dismount and take a swim in the Mameyes River, which flows from the rainforest. Motorists regularly describe the ride as great fun, the scenery as stunning and the guides as very professional.
Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park offers both one- and two-hour versions of this tour multiple times daily. Tickets start at $65 for drivers and $40 for passengers for hourlong rides and cost approximately $110 for drivers and $65 for riders during two-hour expeditions. Note: certain age, weight and height requirements apply. Other adventure tours, such as horseback riding in the forest, are also available.
Cataño: Casa Bacardí – Rum Tasting Tour
Despite its Cuban origins, Bacardí brand rum has become synonymous with Puerto Rico. During the distillery's Rum Tasting Tour, you can take guided exploration of the company's museum and learn about Bacardí's history. Your guide will then take you through a guided tasting of its premium rums paired with chocolates. Visitors find the tour highly informative and enjoyable.
The approximately 75-minute activity includes an open-air bus ride around the complex. Tours cost about $75 per person and are offered several times each day starting at 10 a.m. The price includes all tastings. Bacardí's distillery, which sits across the bay from Old San Juan, also hosts mixology classes.
San Juan Pickup: Castillo Tours – El Yunque Rainforest Tour
Explore the hiking trails, waterfalls and scenery of El Yunque National Forest on this 4 1/2-hour guided tour. As the only tropical rainforest in the national forest system, the 28,000-acre park in eastern Puerto Rico is a must-see destination. Highlights during this excursion include climbing an observation tower and snapping photos at La Coca Falls. Reviewers praise guides, who they describe as knowledgeable, personable and insightful.
Tickets cost approximately $100 for adults and $90 for children ages 4 to 11, and that includes round-trip hotel transportation. Pickups occur between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Tours are offered year-round on Thursday and Saturday. Castillo Tours also operates excursions to Fajardo and Cueva Ventana , among others.
Fajardo: Puerto Rico Bio Bay Tours – Bioluminescent Bay Night Kayak Adventure
While the bioluminescent bay (and the organisms that cause it to glow) may be the main attraction of this kayak outing, the journey also spotlights other species of northeastern Puerto Rico's flora and fauna. Birds, mangroves and more may be glimpsed during this trip from the village of Las Croabas to Laguna Grande in Fajardo. Guides impress tour-takers with their professionalism and attentiveness. However, some kayakers express disappointment that the bay isn't as bright as they hoped.
This tour is offered year-round Monday through Saturday. Tours depart around 6 p.m. The tour lasts about three hours, with around two hours of kayaking, plus time for safety instruction and post-ride snacks. Tickets cost approximately $55 per person and participants must be at least 6 years old. The company also operates a full moon kayak trip.
Strolling the colorful streets of Old San Juan is a must-do activity when visiting Puerto RIco.
San Juan: Spoon – Old San Juan Walk & Taste Tour
Stroll among Old San Juan's gorgeous buildings while sampling Puerto Rican delicacies on this approximately three-hour outing. The tour starts near El Morro and stops at four locally-owned eateries for tastes of traditional pastries, beans and rice, single-origin coffee and, of course, mofongo and two rum cocktails. Food enthusiasts rave about both the tasty fare and the knowledgeable guides.
Tours are generally offered daily, starting at 10 a.m. Groups are limited to 12 people. Tickets, which cover food and beverages, cost approximately $130 for adults and $110 for children ages 3 to 12. Spoon also offers a sunset version of the tour, among other options.

San Juan Pickup: Bespoke Lifestyle Management – El Yunque Rainforest and BioBay Combo Tour
This full-day tour combines two of the best-known things to do in Puerto Rico: a hike through the island's rainforest and a paddle through a lagoon illuminated by tiny light-emitting organisms. The day begins with a trek through the rainforest that includes a lesson about the region's ecology and history, identification of different flora and fauna, and a swim in a natural pool. After the morning's expedition (and lunch), the tour continues with two hours of paddling around Laguna Grande. The driver/guides who conduct the outings are consistently described as friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
In all, the eventful outing takes about 12 hours. The approximately $165 price includes round-trip transportation to San Juan hotels , but does not cover lunch. Tours are offered daily starting at 9 a.m. Bespoke also runs coffee plantation tours, a Vieques snorkeling tour and other trips around the island.
Fajardo: East Island Excursions – Culebra Snorkeling Tour
Cruise to the beaches of Culebra – an island about 18 miles off Puerto Rico's northeastern coast – via motorized catamaran on this roughly six-hour outing, which departs from the Puerto Del Rey Marina in Fajardo. The itinerary usually includes snorkeling at an underwater nature preserve, as well as a stop at the celebrated Flamenco Beach (or another nearby beach if water conditions aren't optimal at Flamenco Beach). Patrons find the shorelines breathtaking and the crew friendly and helpful. Others noted some disorganization during their trips.
The ticket price – around $125 for adults and $105 for children ages 4 to 11 – includes a boxed lunch, alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, and games. Tourgoers are asked to bring their own snorkeling gear for sanitary reasons. Tours are offered daily starting at 9 a.m. East Island Excursions also runs boat tours around San Juan.
San Juan: De Tour Con Ali – Let Me Show You MY Island
Visitors hoping to see as much of Puerto Rico as possible in a single day can opt for this six-hour bus ride around the island. The tour, which is led by a local, takes visitors to beaches, caves and rivers as well as various historical sites. Drivers provide commentary about the island's history and its scenery, which riders generally regard as insightful. To make the most of your trip, De Tour Con Ali recommends wearing comfortable clothes, shoes and bringing water shoes and a swimsuit.
Tickets start at $95 for participants 12 and older, $50 for kids 3 to 11 and $25 for infants 2 and younger. Tours depart San Juan at 8:30 a.m. daily. De Tour Con Ali also offers guided hiking tours and airport shuttles.
San Juan Pickup: Caribbean Breeze Adventures: The Casual One
Caribbean Breeze Adventures promises you'll spend the day like a Puerto Rican local during this seven-hour tour. After picking you up from your hotel, guides take you to El Yunque for hiking, water slides (it's all natural!) and swimming. Then, you'll stop by Luquillo Beach and its family-owned kiosks for a dose of culture, food and drinks. Reviewers say the tour activities are excellent and particularly appreciate their guides, who they describe as funny and informative.
Tickets cost about $80 per person. Pickups start at 9 a.m. daily. The company operates a series of tours around the island, including one that visits the popular Crash Boat Beach, which sits on Puerto Rico's west coast.

The Weeknd Dazzles Philadelphia With High-Tech ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Tour Opener: Concert Review

It’s difficult to imagine that an intensely theatrical performer like the Weeknd — whose videos, concerts, 2021 Super Bowl Halftime performance and lyrics are loaded with vibrant, at times disturbing imagery — would launch his first-ever stadium tour without spectacle.
And thankfully, after several incidents of unwanted drama — including two Covid-related delays, the postponement of the tour’s intended opening date in Toronto last weekend due to a Canada-wide wireless outage, and original opening act Doja Cat dropping out due to tonsil surgery — for the belated first night of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour in Philadelphia, the theatrics were all onstage.
The concert took place on a humid July night in Philadelphia, which had a temperature of 87 degrees as the show opened with sets from producer-artist Mike Dean and Canadian electronic act Kaytranada, but it had cooled down by the time the Weeknd’s headlining set began at around 9 p.m. The Weeknd’s best music traffics in mood, nuance and a mixture of ecstasy and darkness, and that carried over onto a sprawling, technically complex stage, which broadly resembles a towering, crumbling cityscape and spanned much of the Lincoln Financial Field’s grounds. For the two-hour set, the singer, decked as usual in black, was accompanied by a gang of sheathed dancers — and a crowd of nearly 70,000 people, many of whom were devotees in red jackets and bandaged noses, in emulation of his “After Hours” look .
Rising onto the set’s centerpiece with his shrouded dancers below, the Weeknd emerged wearing a clear face mask and a car-length coat, easing into an oscillating, electro take on the “After Hours” opener “Alone Again” with a clear, warm voice that conveyed both despondence and a world-weary ennui.
Dropping down to stage level, he followed his dancers into a new-wave-inflected take on “Gasoline,” picking up the pace and dancing, holding out his arms to the audience even as the lyrics held them at bay.
The set that followed was heavy on his two most recent albums, this year’s “Dawn FM” and 2020’s “After Hours,” with his earlier hits dropped in strategically to keep the crowd hyped — although the arrangements of many of the songs were revamped. His angelic voice soared through the Swedish House Mafia remix version of “Sacrifice,” a disco-fied “How Do I Make You Love Me?” and a jittery version of “Can’t Feel My Face” that featured a break reminiscent of vintage New Order. Those three tracks, performed as a medley, turned the venue into an apocalyptic dance party, with the Weeknd as its jovial, devilish host.
Although musicians were not visible on the sprawling stage, they certainly made their presence heard: Mangled guitars and wheezing church organs dominated his recent hit “Take My Breath” and “Hurricane,” followed by the sultry “Often.”
He brought the energy level down with spacey takes on “Starboy” and “Heartless,” with cobalt-blue lighting adding to the cool atmosphere; the ambient R&B songs acted as a cooling agent to the heated emotions and red hues of the night’s first half.
That mood continued through the evening’s more ruminative second half as the Weeknd moved gently but no less theatrically through the ‘90s-Motown vibes of “Out of Time,” a celestial “Less Than Zero” and a cinematic “Save Your Tears.” Through these songs, which were filled with bluesy guitar licks and soulful synths, he brought down his voice an octave, adding to the lovelorn emotions of the lyrics.
Of course, the two-hour show wound to a close with the biggest of his many hits, the ‘80s inflected global smash “Blinding Lights,” a song that in many ways summed up the contrasts of the show, the music and the performer: an avant-garde superstar, an aloof lover man, a combination of beauty and madness, all contained in a concert that somehow felt intimate in a football stadium with nearly 70,000 fellow devotees.

A Weekend in Puerto Rico: A 3-Day Itinerary
John and Tina Reid / Getty Images
So you've decided to spend a weekend in Puerto Rico. Three days is enough to see plenty but nowhere near enough to see it all. How should you allocate your time? Relax; we've got you covered.
This three-day itinerary lets you enjoy a few different sides of Puerto Rico. You'll start off in Old San Juan, the historic and cultural center of the island, and home to some of its best museums, monuments, shops, restaurants, and hotels. Day Two will take you out of the city, to a tropical rainforest, a beautiful beach, and a unique, finger-licking dining adventure. Your last day is reserved for the beach, the shops, and the casino.
Remember to pack the following:
- At least one good pair of shoes: the trails in the rainforest require good walking shoes, and you'll want to be comfortable as you explore the old city.
- Light, summer clothes: It's almost a sure bet that you won't need coats and sweaters here.
- Sunblock: whether you're walking the streets or lazing by the ocean, sunblock is your friend in Puerto Rico.
- Your camera: You'll be happy you did.
Day One: Old San Juan
Unless you're really trying to avoid it, you'll be flying into Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, which is located in Carolina, about three miles away from San Juan. Assuming you get here in the morning, you'll be checked in and ready to start your vacation before noon. And your first stop will be Old San Juan.
- Maximize your time in the Old City by taking a walking tour .
- When you're ready for lunch, you'll have a myriad of options to choose from. If you want to eat like a local, head to La Fonda del Jibarito on Sol Street for cantina-style Puerto Rican specialties.
- Spend the rest of the day in the Old City, where there is never a dearth of things to do. Browse through one the city's many art galleries; shop for arts and crafts, jewelry, or fashionable clothes; visit one of the many museums; or simply walk around and enjoy the ambiance of a city that was prospering before The Mayflower set sail.
- If you're not too tired by the evening, book yourself on a tour of "Night Tales of San Juan" with Legends of Puerto Rico . This is a fun, two-hour evening romp through the city's streets and buildings, full of historical anecdotes, folklore, and ghost stories. At night, the streets take on a different vibe, and Guide Debbie Molina brings them to life.
- You can eat very well in San Juan. Walk down Fortaleza Street. Many of these hotspots have a roaring bar and lounge scene after hours.
- If gambling is your thing and you're staying in the old city for the night, head to the Sheraton Old San Juan.
Day Two: Getting Out and About
Day Two has you getting out of the city and seeing a whole new side of Puerto Rico. And there is no more dramatic change of scenery than the one from San Juan to the El Yunque National Rainforest .
- Pick up your rental car (you can take a guided tour, but the flexibility of having your own car will come in handy). Don't forget to bring your bathing suit!
- Take Route 3 east until it intersects with Route 191. You'll see signs for the rainforest. (By the way, on the road to the rainforest, in the town of Palmer, you'll pass by the Palmer Bakery; this is a good place to pick up sandwiches and pastries for a picnic lunch.)
- Make your first stop in the rainforest the El Portal Visitor Center, where you can pick up maps and hiking trail information.
- Take the La Mina Trail to the La Mina Falls, where you'll have the deliciously refreshing opportunity to wade through a shallow pool and dive under a natural waterfall.
- Enjoy El Yunque , ("The Anvil," so-called for its flat plateau) at your leisure, but be prepared to leave by mid-afternoon.
- Make your way back to Route 3 and continue east until you see signs for Luquillo Beach. This beautiful, palm-tree-lined beach is extremely popular with the locals both for its unspoiled view (there's not a high-rise in sight) and its excellent facilities. After the dense canopy of the rainforest, it's another dramatic change of scene.
- Heading back onto Route 3 towards the city, you'll soon come to a line of Kiosks. Do not drive on! Stop at this famous roadside institution and have a blast going from stall to stall, sampling all kinds of fried goodies and other snacks.
- Recharge for a bit and then hit the nightlife in Isla Verde. Mist Rooftop Bar + Kitchen, the rooftop lounge at The San Juan Water & Beach Club and Brava, the club at the El San Juan Hotel, are two of the best places to go after the sun goes down.
Day Three: Rest, Relaxation, and Retail
And on the Third Day, He (or She) Rested.
Your last day in Puerto Rico is a time to take it easy, and the best way to do that is to hit the beach in the morning. It's also a good idea to do this early, so you can shower, check out of the hotel, and go out to enjoy shopping for souvenirs, jewelry, clothes, or anything else that catches your eye.
- You have a few choices on which beach to hit in San Juan. If you're staying in Puerta de Tierra, you'll be best served by the El Escambrón public beach nearby. For those of you staying in the resort strip of Condado and Isla Verde, or in the Ocean Park neighborhood, the choice is easy, because the beach is right in front of you. You can't go wrong with either option, but I'm partial to the Ocean Park Beach for its laid-back ambiance. Nearby, Punta Las Marías Beach is a haven for surfers.
- For your last lunch, try to make it out to La Casita Blanca , a short cab ride away but well worth the trip for authentic Puerto Rican home-cooking. Closer to home are Pinky’s in Ocean Park for health-conscious wraps and shakes and Ceviche House in Isla Verde for Peruvian specialties.
- Spend the remainder of your day getting some shopping done. If you're looking for a souvenir, check out this listing of recommended shops . If it's jewelry you're after, head to Fortaleza and Cristo Streets in Old San Juan. For high fashion, stroll along Ashford Avenue in ritzy Condado.
- If you hate shopping, there is always a casino ready to welcome you. In Isla Verde, head to the Ritz-Carlton.

There is so much that is misunderstood about these islands. Yes, it’s a territory of the United States. But to think of it as merely the “American Caribbean” is to miss the whole point of this all-star island and its charming capital city, Old San Juan. Here is our must do Puerto Rico itinerary for a long weekend.
First off, this is still technically the United States. You don’t need a passport to visit. You don’t need foreign currency. And just about everyone speaks English. So, traveling here is easy, even for a long weekend. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t rewarding too.
These islands are historic. The capital, San Juan, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . The three fortifications (San Felipe del Morro, San Cristóbal and San Juan de la Cruz) guarding the harbor are pristine examples of early Caribbean architecture. Christopher Columbus arrived in San Juan, on his second trip while re-discovering the “New World” in 1493. History is around every corner in this beautiful capital city.
Our Ideal Puerto Rico Itinerary
Day 1 – explore the historic city of san juan, day 2 – scuba diving at fajardo, day 3 – natural activities in el yunque national forest, day 4 – casa bacardi distillery tour, tips for puerto rico vacations, best time to visit, best places to stay, best restaurants.
Old Town San Juan is one of the most beautiful cities in the Caribbean. It’s also one of the oldest cities in the Americas. By day, Old San Juan is filled with charm as visitors wander the cobble-stoned streets peeking into a few stores and doing a little shopping.
Understanding the history of the islands begins on the broad esplanade in front of the San Felipe del Morro, with its stunning views of the ocean and San Juan harbor.
As the sun sets on Old Town, we were able to take in the festive holiday lights around Plaza de Colon and sample some of the local gastronomy. In the summers, the party is just getting started as patrons fill the bars and restaurants before carrying the festivities through the streets.
We’re big divers, and the scuba diving here is among the best in the world. Head an hour to the east of the capital to the town of Fajardo. This oceanfront community is the launching pad for a lot of dive trips. The closest and most common trips are to the La Cordillera Reef, where divers can explore the reefs, submerged caverns and walls.
The massive coral formations have abundant marine life and there’s also the chance to see manatees in the wild. The area around Fajardo is known for its extremely clear water and extreme visibility.
If you’re not a certified scuba diver, snorkeling is also possible. Or you could simply lounge at one of the Puerto Rican beaches and let the sand in between your toes. We recommend bringing your own equipment for snorkeling or diving with you. Check out our guide to snorkel equipment .
Not far from the capital on the slopes of the Sierra de Luquillo Mountains, the El Yungue National Forest is the only tropical rainforest under U.S. National Forest Service control. This is a chance to go hike, take in waterfalls and the flora and fauna of the rainforest.
For those into birding ( we’re not birders ), this is the only place in the world to see the elfin woods warbler. We’ll stick to the waterfalls, like the La Mina Falls. El Yunque Forest is one of the top day trips from San Juan.
If you’re visiting Puerto Rico with kids , this makes a great destination. Start by hiking the Caimitillo Trail. And then end your visit by splashing in one of the waterfalls.
These islands are synonymous with rum. And there’s good reason for it. The Bacardi Rum operation occupies a massive section of shoreline on the western side of the harbor. Originally started in Cuba by Spanish immigrants, the Bacardi family moved the recipe and production out of Cuba just before the communist revolution nationalized all assets in the country. Cuba’s loss was our gain.
Today, the Casa Bacardi Tour is one of the best things to do on the island – and makes a great stop before heading to the airport and flights home.
On the Bacardi factory tour, you board a little open-air bus that drives you about 100 yards, let’s you off to explore a four room museum (which begins with a 7 minute video). Unfortunately, you can’t see any of the rum production (due to food production and hygiene), but the Case Bacardi creates a magnificent experience center.
They also have one of the most extensive gift shops we’ve ever seen and make perfect souvenirs to take home from your weekend trip to Puerto Rico!
There are so many things to do on this all-star Caribbean island; it’s tough to narrow down everything to a single weekend. However, our must-do weekend trip to Puerto Rico packs a punch!
Given its location, the island can be impacted by storms during the autumn hurricane season in the Caribbean (such as Hurricane Maria in 2017, which devastated the island). For us, the best time to travel to here is near the end of hurricane season, but before Spring Break (so, from mid-December through the end of February). The weather is warm without being too hot.
When it comes to visiting the island, a lot of people choose from one of the many all inclusive resorts ( such as these ). While these resorts can be extremely popular because they simplify your trip, we recommend skipping the all inclusive resorts and staying at one of the Old San Juan hotels instead. Check current prices on hotels here.
Food here is far more than just mofongo and you have to try out all the dishes (check it out at the local restaurants ).

Can I still Scuba Dive even though I'm not certified?
Lance Longwell
Sunday 12th of November 2023
Short answer is yes. Longer answer is that many resorts and scuba dive shops offer an expedited "resort course" that will allow you to dive, however, if you ever want to dive again, you'll need to re-do the course again. A resort course will give you the fundamentals and you'll usually need to do some kind of pool or shallow ocean "check out" go make sure you are comfortable and won't panic.

I'm a food, so every local eatery, in the area. The flamingo dancers, the local Local Bamba, night life. Also the Ricon beach eatery and Ponce day life around the square weekends are a must.

We took a small charter plane to Culebra. I would highly recommend doing this! It's so much faster than the ferry, and the views are breath taking. The beach is the one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Next time hope to get to Vieges for a bio bay tour.
I really want to get to Vieques! Perhaps that will be on our next trip.

I love Puerto Rico! It's one of my favorite winter time spots to visit. ;) Old Town is always a lot of fun to explore and the beaches, well I can spend most of the days there.

The scuba experience around Fajardo sounds really nice. Happy to hear that despite the uptick in tourism here the water clarity seems to have remained!
On another note, you mention the local gastronomy throughout Old San Juan. What are some of the main food staples in the area that are worth trying?
Well, the Pina Colada was born in San Juan, so that's a "must drink." For our tastes, we also recommend trying the local Cuchifritos - fried pork bits - which is native to the Capital region.

"My boyfriend and I loved every second of our tour. Although it was mainly an in car experience due to covid restrictions but we had a BLAST. Narayan, our tour guide, was so informative and knowledgeable on the history of San Juan. Please ask for him if you go on a tour!!! He’s literally the best and has a great personality as well. He takes AWESOME pics of you too. He made our vacation so much more memorable. 10/10 recommend :)"
"My favorite part of the experience was the personality, professionalism, and great tour guides Narayan & Lismar. They made sure we were educated about the history of the island, they had a great amount of knowledge, and were so kind. They made sure we were safe at all times (even when some of group was a little daring) I look forward to booking with them in the future."
"We loved the tour. Both guides were very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico. They showed us a lot of the different cities and different beautiful beaches. They made us feel like we’ve known them for years. They are family oriented, easy to talk to and very down to earth. Excellent tour!!! Thanks so much Lismar and Narayan."
"Narayan De Jesus took us on a wonderful tour of the rain forest, very informative guide. The hike up the hill/mountain looks a little daunting when you first get out of the van but with the winding path it is not that difficult. Took walking stick, did not realy need it. Was glad we took our binoculars, at the top we were able to see seven differnt islands, St Johns was one of them."
