**Staying a couple of days before starting our road trip with family in Buffalo where we will be visiting the Falls on the Canadian side, going to the power station, and Journey Behind the Falls .**

Our plans are as follows:

Leave Buffalo and head towards Niagara Falls . Visit the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, check in at our hotel, and hang out at Clifton Hill since it is near our hotel.

Butterfly Conservatory , White Water Walk , and Niagara-on-the-lake .

Leave Niagara and check in at our hotel in Downtown Toronto. Visit the Museum of Illusions, St. Lawrence Market , Eaton Centre, and anything else while we are walking around.

CN Tower, Toronto Railway Museum, and Ripley's Aquarium

Royal Ontario Museum OR Ontario Science Centre . (I am planning on going to one or the other BUT could we get away with going to both? If not, which one is "better"? Anything else to see/do near one or the other?)

Check out of the Toronto hotel and go to the Toronto Zoo . After the Zoo, travel towards our next destination which I was thinking of heading towards the Ottawa / Kingston /Thousand Island area.

Things I need advice/help with:

1. What do to on Day 7 - Day 12? Was thinking of driving up towards Ottawa and Kingston, visiting Gananoque and the Thousand Islands , and then moving on towards Syracuse and Rochester, NY. I think Quebec City is too far. (Day 12 needs to end in Buffalo since on Day 13 we have a very early flight )

2. We would love to visit a U-pick farm to pick raspberries or strawberries, any recommendations?

3. Thoughts on the days I have planned so far?

4. Good places to eat that aren't chain restaurants since we like to promote local restaurants.

5. Anywhere else we can visit that a family that likes to explore, walk, see new things, and have new experiences might be interested in

Thank you in advance for all the help you can give me, it is greatly appreciated!

Since you appear to have an interest in railways, you might stop in the lovely beach town of Cobourg. The Sifton-Cook Heritage Centre includes an exhibit and model of the historic Cobourg- Peterborough rail line.

https://www.cobourgmuseum.ca/

https://experiencecobourg.ca/historic-cobourg/

Also if you went north towards Peterborough and then on to Ottawa via Hwy #7, you could stop at Peterborough to see the brand new home of the Canadian Canoe Museum, and the adjacent Liftlocks, which lift boats through the Trent Canal system.

So a route like this:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/j2Qc79re5Udi6SLy5

I would skip the Museum of Illusions and go to Little Canada instead. It's close to the Eaton Centre.

The Science Centre is located quite aways from downtown in an inner suburb. I think you'd be hard pressed to do both it and the ROM on the same day. IMO the ROM is better.

Here is a map showing berry farms in Ontario with links to their websites. You'd have to check which offer U-pick and when their season starts and ends https://ontarioberries.com/

Sounds like a fun trip.

Day 5: It would be rushed to fit both of these into one day. I like the ROM better and it is closer to other attractions but your 4 yo might have more fun at the Science Centre. Check out the CityPass.

Day 12: The STRONG Museum of Play in Rochester is awesome so check that out.

- there is a nice little free zoo in Peterborough and the lift locks mentioned above are a unique attraction.

- Jungle Cat World has some animal encounters that are a blast.

- there is a lookout tower, boat cruises , and lots of nice hikes in the 1000 Islands region.

- Kingston has an old fort and jail you can tour as well as a nice waterfront.

- Upper Canada Village shows what pioneer life was like in Canada.

- not too far from Ottawa is a good place to see some Canadian wildlife close up at Parc Omega (bring a crazy amount of carrots).

- the scenery in Lake Placid, NY is amazing.

- not paticularly fond of Syracuse. The zoo is ok but I prefer the one in Watertown even though it's smaller.
