Britax es lo máximo!

Estoy con unas ganas de probar los productos Britax. me encanta todos lo que tienen. Me falta el bebe, pero cuando venga Britax será mi elección!

Muy gracioso Carla. Pero sabes que los puedes recomendar y que estas lista con estos consejos.

Me acuerdo que cuando mi esposo y yo fuimos a comprar el stroller doble para nuestros hijos habian unos colores y diseños muy lindos! Pero eso no es lo importante, sino la calidad y durabilidad. Y si que nosotrs le dimos al strolles con ganas porque viajabamos mucho y nunca nos fallo! Es una decisión que toma tiempo para comparar y ver cual es el mejor. 🙂

Si, yo abri y cerre coches como no te puedes imaginar pero a la hora de la verdad, la seguridad es lo mas importante.

Tienes razón. Esta es una de las compras más importantes. Hay que invertir en la seguridad de los niños, pero hay que seguir orientando a los padres porque con tantas opciones a veces se enfocan en los más lindos y no necesariamente son los mejores.

A travel system, a combination of an infant car seat and stroller, offers convenience and cost-effectiveness for families on the move. Here’s a detailed travel system guide with seven steps on how to choose the best travel system for your baby and family .

Travel System Guide Step 1: Understand Your Lifestyle

The first step in our travel system guide is considering your lifestyle. Your lifestyle should dictate the type of travel system you choose, and specifically the type of stroller that will work best for your family. With a variety of stroller options available , we recommend identifying the type of stroller that best meets your daily needs . For example, for active parents who enjoy outdoor activities , we recommend a travel system with a jogging stroller like the Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Travel System . City dwellers who rely on public transportation or have limited storage may prefer a lightweight, compact system such as the Maxi-Cosi Zelia 5-In-1 Modular Travel System .

For families always on the go we recommend a car seat stroller like the Doona Car Seat to Stroller . For larger families we recommend looking into getting a double stroller for convenience . Whether it is a side-by-side or a front-to-back setup like the Graco Ready2Grow LX 2.0 Double Stroller or the Baby Trend Sit N Stand Travel System , consider if you will be walking in narrow spaces like going in and out of smaller doors.

Travel System Guide Step 2: Check Compatibility

The car seat and stroller should fit together seamlessly for easy transitions. We recommend getting complete sets where the brand for the car seat and the stroller are the same, but often we find families love certain strollers and infant car seats that are not the same brand. If you fall into the category of having non-matching brands for your stroller and infant car seat, check out our Car Seat Stroller Compatibility Guide to ensure your car seat and stroller are compatible or if they require additional adapters or not.

Travel System Guide Step 3: Consider Safety Features

Safety is paramount in any baby gear. In our travel system guide we like to recommend travel systems that meet or exceed safety standards outlined by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) . With that being said we still recommend checking specific features on the stroller, on the car seat, and on the overall travel system when the stroller and car seat are together.

Stroller Safety Features

Here is a list of safety features we recommend in our travel system guide that your family should consider before deciding on what stroller you want for your family:

• Sturdy Frame:  Ensure it feels solid, not flimsy. Ensure it is able to securely lock open before putting your child in.
• Restraint System:  A good stroller should have a sturdy restraint system with a five-point harness that includes shoulder straps, a strap between the legs, and waist belts. Ensure the latches and locks work appropriately and are built from strong material.
• Brakes:  Look for strollers that have easy-to-operate brakes that lock within the wheels. Always check the brakes and the swivel lock mechanisms before buying. Additionally, some strollers include a tether strap that can prevent the stroller from rolling away if you accidentally let go.
• Wheels: Your baby’s fingers should not be able to reach the stroller wheels. Also, consider the size and type of wheels based on where you’ll be using the stroller most often (e.g., larger, air-filled tires for uneven surfaces).
• Warranty and Certification:  Ensure there are no recalls and understand the return policy. Check the certification to ensure the stroller complies with the mandatory federal safety standards, for example check the product for the AS/NZS 2088 label, which ensures it meets certain safety standards. And, of course, no matter how safe the stroller may be, never leave your child unattended in it.

Infant Car Seat Safety Features

When buying an infant car seat, safety is the number one priority. Here are some key safety features to look for:

• Side-Impact Protection: Look for a car seat with side-impact protection. This usually involves extra padding or special foam in the sides of the car seat to absorb energy and protect your baby’s head and chest in case of a side-impact crash.
• Restraint System: A five-point harness is the safest restraint system for an infant car seat. It consists of straps that secure over both shoulders, both hips, and between the legs.
• Base and Installation: A car seat that is not installed correctly can compromise your child’s safety. Choose a car seat with clear instructions and indicators that show when the seat is installed correctly. Ensure it has a strong base that can lock into your car properly with use of the lap belt, latch system or other mechanism.
• Age Appropriate: The car seat should be appropriate for your child’s size. Infant car seats are typically rear-facing and designed for babies up to 35 pounds. Once your child outgrows this, you’ll need to switch to a convertible or forward-facing car seat. For newborns and small babies, look for a car seat that comes with inserts to ensure they are snug and secure.
• Expiration Date, Warranty, and Safety Certification: Car seats expire every six years, so double check the car seat expiration date to ensure it has not expired. Check the manufacturers warranty and return policy, and as always we recommend registering your product to be updated of any recalls. You can also confirm it is certified by the JPMA , which indicates that the car seat has been tested and meets the safety standards set by the federal government.

Travel System Safety Features

In addition to the items we outlined above for checking the stroller and the car seat individually, we wanted to recommend checking the following for when the car seat is attached to the stroller.

• Secure Attachment: Ensure the car seat is securely attached to the stroller. It should click into place and not move or wobble when touched. Some systems have visual or auditory indicators to confirm secure attachment.
• Stability: Check the stability of the travel system once the car seat is attached. The weight of the car seat and baby can change the center of gravity of the stroller. It should not tip over easily.
• Car Seat Direction: The car seat should always be attached to the stroller in a rear-facing position, so you can keep an eye on your little one. This is the safest position for a baby to travel in.
• Brakes: Make sure the brakes work effectively even when the car seat is attached to the stroller.
• Canopy Alignment: If both the car seat and stroller have canopies, ensure they align well when the car seat is attached to provide maximum protection from the sun, wind, or rain.

Remember, it’s essential to read the manufacturer’s instructions for attaching and detaching the car seat from the stroller. If you’re unsure about anything, contact the manufacturer or consult a child passenger safety technician.

Travel System Guide Step 4: Set a Budget

A budget is not the first item in our travel system guide, but we do know that it can often be a constraint if features aren’t prioritized. For example, when we purchased our first stroller it was really important to me that it had a nice size storage basket, but not too important that it had cup holders. Additionally, it was really sunny where we lived so I knew a canopy that provided maximum coverage was a must!

Travel System Guide Step 5: Consider Comfort and Convenience

Look for a travel system that can provide the most comfort for you and your little one . Consider the features of the stroller as well as the quality of fabrics used on the car seat and the stroller. Consider a stroller with a reclining seat for napping on the go. Consider the wheel type (plastic or rubber) and good suspension to ensure a smooth ride. For parents, features like easy folding mechanisms, large storage baskets, and adjustable handlebars (like in the Graco Modes Nest Travel System ) can make life easier.

We highly recommend taking your ideal travel system for a test drive before buying. Stores like Buy Buy Baby or Target often have floor models you can test. Push the stroller around, fold it up, adjust the seat positions, and attach and detach the car seat. Make sure everything feels sturdy and operates smoothly. Here is a short checklist we put together when test driving different travel systems:

Lastly, for the last step in our travel system guide we recommend checking weight and height limits on both the stroller and car seat. The stroller should be light enough for you to push and lift easily. The car seat should be light enough to carry comfortably, and even for short periods of time. We recommend checking the back seat of your vehicles to ensure the car seat can properly be installed. We have found that some infant car seats are very long and don’t fit well into smaller back seats of cars . We also recommend checking your storage space for your stroller. Whether you plan on storing it in the closet or transporting it in your trunk, make sure you have the proper space to fit your stroller .

It has an amazing amount of high-end features and is a true delight to push—it easily steers with one hand, turns on a dime and can effortlessly take on rougher surfaces like cracked sidewalks and gravel. The Mesa infant car seat is reversible (parent-facing or front-facing) as are the toddler seats, and there’s shade galore with an enormous SPF 50 canopy, a huge storage basket, a telescoping handlebar and a red-to-green light indicator on the car seat base so you know when it’s been properly secured.

The Vista V2 travel system is expensive. It’s a large, bulky stroller and isn’t the easiest to break down. It can also be tough to push when it’s fully loaded with two kiddos. A travel system is a car seat and a stroller that attach to each other. Just unclip the car seat from its base in the back seat, snap it into the stroller and you’re off.

A travel system, sometimes also referred to as a stroller travel system or baby travel system, can be purchased in two ways:

Package deals tend to be more economical than the DIY version and are guaranteed to work together—no adapters required. Unless your stroller comes with a bassinet attachment or fully reclines and is approved for newborn use, it’s not suitable for your little one until they can sit up unassisted—which usually happens around six months of age. And even if that is the case, you’ll still need to move your infant every time you want to transfer them from the car seat to the stroller (and back again).

Here’s where a travel system comes in. A travel system solves for strolling with your newborn before they’re able to sit up independently. It also means you won’t have to disturb your little one every time you need to make the switch between your car seat and your stroller.

When Do You Need a Travel System?

You’ll need a travel system right at birth if you plan on using your car to transport your little one. Most parents choose to research travel systems prior to baby’s arrival and have one ready to go before birth so they’re prepared.

Around six to nine months, your baby will be sitting up and will likely want a better view of the world—and then you can use the full-size stroller on its own. And because you can use the stroller from infancy through toddlerhood, it’s the only stroller you’ll need to purchase.

Yes, travel systems are safe for newborns. There are a few guidelines you’ll want to keep in mind, though.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends against the use of car seats for sleep outside of a car. If your infant falls asleep in their car seat, they should be removed and placed in a crib or bassinet (or other safe sleep space) as soon as possible.

But what if your baby falls asleep in their car seat while you’re driving and is still asleep when you arrive at your destination? According to pediatrician Dr. Kelly Fradin , the best practice is to remove them and transfer them to a safe sleep environment.

“However, many parents, myself included, will want the child to finish their nap for a brief period. If you choose to do this to reduce risk be sure the baby is not overheating by removing hats, blankets and ventilating the car. Also, keep the straps snug and place the car seat on the floor under your direct supervision.”

“If babies are in an approved stroller with the car seat properly restrained, I think of it the same as being in a vehicle,” explains Dr. Fradin. “Keep them cool and supervised.”

Since a travel system includes two products—a car seat and a stroller—you’ll want to think through how you’ll use each piece of gear, both together and separately.

You’ll be using your stroller longer than your infant car seat, so that’s a good place to start. Think about the travel system stroller’s:

A GDS Primer: What is the GDS and Which Travel Agents Need It?

In short, the Global Distribution System (GDS) is a travel agent’s motherboard for booking airline tickets and other sorts of travel goodies (like hotel and car). So it might seem pretty odd for me to show up here and say that many travel agents don’t necessarily need it.

That’s right. If you are a leisure travel agent, there’s a huge whopping huge chance that you don’t need to use a GDS. If you want to become a corporate travel agent though? That's a whole different story. Much more on this later, but before we get there . . . a brief history of the GDS! 1

Before the Dawn of the GDS

It can be easy to confuse the GDS with a Central Reservation System or Computerized Reservation System (CRS). CRSs are automated inventory-tracking systems that were (originally) owned and run by individual vendors (like airlines, car companies and hotels).

American Airlines created the first CRS system in 1946. And while this helped automate inventory for vendors, travel agents did not have direct access to that inventory. Travel agents would need to call the airline’s booking center, who would then contact one of their CRS operators, then relay the results to the travel agent over the phone (literally, like playing telephone). It took a lot of people power to book a single airline ticket. Travelers booking their own ticket? Forget about it! 

Thanks to IBM, these CRS systems became progressively more sophisticated throughout the late 50s to the 70s. Simultaneously, travel agents became progressively more annoyed by all the hoops they had to jump through to book a ticket—they wanted it to be more automated on their end too.

Nowadays, GDSs function as an umbrella for many many CRS systems. It’s like a CRS motherboard. (In fact, many vendors outsource their CRS systems to a GDS.)

The GDS Today

The GDS started out as a distribution channel for many airline carriers and later expanded to carry inventory of hotels and car rentals. But for the purpose of our article, we’re focusing on the airline component of the GDS.

There are many GDS options, and each GDS system will has access to their own pool of carriers. The four largest GDSs are: Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport (which is the parent company of Apollo/Galileo and Worldspan).

Literally hundreds of airlines can be logged into a single GDS system, to which thousands upon thousands of travel agents globally have access. That’s the win win situation of the GDS . . . travel agents have access to zillions of different airline fares, and many airlines’ inventory is accessible to the zillions of travel agents who are booking flights for their many many clients.

The advantage for airlines is that they are spared some of the legwork of trying to market to individual consumers—and their product is in the hands of thousands of consumers through the collective pool of agents that book through the GDS.

The advantage to travel agents is that the GDS not only can show you many fares from multiple airlines, but it also offers a great depth of information about each flight in one place. The carrier, the times, the costs, the class of the seat, aircraft type and so much more. It’s a smorgasbord of options. So if you’re booking a high volume of tickets, it’s great to have access to every minutiae of information from multiple carriers in one go.

Simple, right? Just point and click and get your tickets. Nooooooo sireeeee. That could not be further from the truth.

Green Screen and GUI: The Evolution of the GDS

In today’s world, the GDSs have a bit of a split personality. There is the old school, traditional GDS commonly called “the green screen.” Then there’s the hip side of the GDSs, which people will call “point and click” or “GUI” (Graphical User Interface). Essentially, it’s a more intuitive and prettier looking version of the GDS.

But of course, it’s not that simple. Sigh.

1. The Green Screen: There’s No Such Thing as GDS for Dummies

Most of the time, when people are talking about the GDS, they are talking about the green screen. If an ad for a travel agency job says you need to know how to use Sabre, what they mean is you have to be able to navigate the green screen side of Sabre (not just use GUI).

Let me be blunt: unless you’re some kind of prodigy, the GDS green screens are not user friendly. Be afraid, be very afraid. It’s not like supplier portals and online travel booking sites where you can rifle through your choices, do a price comparison, and click on what you want. Voila. (Watch some videos and read up on what travel agents do and how they do it .)

Using a GDS is a technical skill (think computer coding), and to use it really well is an art. Having experimented with it a few times myself, I have serious respect for travel agents who are fluent in the language of a GDS.

Take a listen (or read the transcript) to our podcast with Karen Hurlbut, of Hurlbut Travel , as she describes working within the GDS and shares what she uses the GDS for, and what she books with consolidators. The answer may surprise you! 

To learn the GDS green screen takes intense training, and to become proficient takes tons of practice and constant use. That means daily use with a mentor (for at least 6 months to a year), not just booking a ticket for a client every few weeks. Even then, you still gotta keep using it on a regular basis to remain a GDS speed demon (think of being fluent in a language).

Here's another great listen (or read the transcript) with Lary Neron of Airfare Consultant . He did price management at WestJet and then left to start his own agency. His knowledge of how the GDS works and tips and tricks to booking is something every travel agent should listen to.

This, my friends, is why host agencies and travel agencies aren’t jumping up and down to teach you the GDS (if they even offer it). It’s hard. Here’s what a booking in an Amadeus green screen looks like:

Are you still awake? Whoa, right?! (FYI: An experienced GDS user will be able to do that at about 10,000x the speed in the video.)

2. GUI: A Brighter Future for the GDS?

The GUI is the point-and-click version of the GDS. You may have heard of options such as Sabre Red 360 and TravelPort+ . So why doesn’t everyone use it? Here’s the problem: At its current stage of development, even GUI users need to understand the language of the green screen. As Ann Waters, president of the $40M Conference & Travel agency and Apollo user said,

“It’s not inputting the information new agents have problems with, it’s interpreting what the GDS is sending back to the agent.”

Essentially, the GUI interface isn’t quite there yet . . . and developing this technology is reeeeeally expensive and comes with a lot of growing pain. Sure it’s got perks (like being easier on the eyes and allowing agents to book airline ancillaries) but here’s what happens: You type in that you want a ticket from JFK to LAX on [enter date] and click search. You think, “That was so easy, just like searching online. So intuitive! I’m definitely a natural at this.”

That is, until it spits back at you the cryptic type and command lines you see on the green screen GDS. What in the world?!? Yup. That’s the problem. While new agents can partially navigate the GDS with the GUI interface, the code that comes back still has important information like fare types and rules that the agents really needs to understand. So many agents, in the end, need to learn the green screen (and find it faster) regardless.

If they don’t know exactly what they’re doing . . .

Risks of Booking with the GDS

To book in the GDS, you must have an IATA/IATAN accreditation number , in addition to an ARC accreditation number if you’re located in the United States.

As a new agent, you can’t get these accreditation numbers because they require a lot of experience. So you come into the industry under a host agency ( more on what a host agency is and a list of host agencies ) and use their accreditation number instead.

And heck, your new host agency has a GDS! They’ll just give you that login information along with your Disney log in, right? Wrong. No freakin’ way. Because of the complexity of booking air tickets (or anything) with the GDS, there’s a huge margin for error. And these errors can cost a pretty penny. And this is to say nothing of fraud , which is another can of worms in the GDS world.

Enter travel agency debit memos . In short, debit memos are fines to travel agencies for making a mistake when booking with the GDS. Yes, even an itty bitty innocent mistake or typo. It may not seem like a biggie when you have one or two, but when you sell hundreds of tickets, these fines risk start adding up right quick. In 2015, there was a total of $530-capital-M-million-dollars issued to ticketing agencies.

This is why a host agency cannot afford to let a new agent use the GDS without rigorous training. It’s just too risky. At the end of the day, since the ARC accreditation number is assigned to the host, they will be the ones responsible to pay the big bucks to the carrier or carriers that issue the debit memos.

And the risk doesn’t even end there. When a host or travel agency uses the GDS, they must negotiate long, complicated and specialized contracts with their GDS provider. Somewhere in this contract, the agency commits to selling a certain amount of air segments. And if you miss your goals? Expect there to be financial penalties.

So even if you do have mad GDS skills, you may be better off going with a host agency's accreditation.

Do I Need the GDS?

The GDS does have a time and place! Here’s a few reasons why an agent might want/need to use the GDS:

• Corporate Travel Advisors: Corporate travel agents book a whole lot of air, so the GDS is pretty much a must for them. This can either be a travel agent who books on behalf of corporate clients, or an appointed individual at a corporation who has the capacity to book air for all their employees.
• Agents Booking Complex Itineraries: If your specialty is around the world tickets or you have a steady stream of clients with multi-stop air itineraries, the GDS will be a necessity. 
• High Volume Booking of Air-Only Travel: I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what other travel agents other than corporate agents book reeeally high volumes of air. It might be an advisor who focuses on booking air to a specific international destination. Who knows! But if that’s you, let me know what your niche is!!

If you fall into one of these categories, check out this article on how to become a corporate travel agent . Even if you don't want to sell corporate, it offers strategies to learn the GDS system. Essentially if you’re not booking airline tickets multiple times each working day and you were never trained in the GDS, you probably don’t need to use it. This includes most Leisure Agents.

One of the reasons that most leisure agents don’t need the GDS is because the air will be included in a vacation package by the tour operator, or you can book it with the cruise line and you don’t need to use the GDS.

If you’re only booking a few flights here and there, there are ways to nab tickets for your clients without having to labor through the GDS.

Booking Air Without the GDS

If the GDS doesn’t seem practical for your agency, and you have a client who wants an air-only reservation that’s not already included in a package you’re selling, here’s a few strategies:

• Use an Airline Consolidator: When you become a travel agent you will have access to airline consolidators. A consolidator is a wholesaler of international airfares that works with travel agencies (not the general public). You can either book net fares, published fares (the rate available to the general public), or commissionable fares. This article is a great resource that will provide more detailed information regarding the types of airline fares .
• Book air directly through the airline's site and charge a service fee: Just remember to compensate yourself for your time . . . especially if the client is, errr, particular. Charging a service fee is one way to offset the cost of your valuable time .
• Ask clients to book their own air-only reservations: If it’s not worth your time, it’s not worth your time. 
• Use your host’s or consortium's online booking tools : Your host may have an online booking engine for air. Revelex is one example of these tools . . . they are user-friendly booking engines that are linked to the host’s GDS (so agents get the advantage of a host’s airline contracts in the GDS without having to learn the process). 
• Ticketing Desk: Some hosts have a ticketing desk service that can book flights on behalf of agents (see image below on how to find out if a host has a ticketing desk) . Usually there are applicable fees and certain service hours, so you'll want to ask about that. If your client is flying international, first or business class, always look into a ticketing desk at your host agency or a consolidator first to see if there are any commissions (rather than booking it on your own).

But . . . I’m Losing out on Airline Commissions! (No, you’re probably not)

Yes, airlines do have commissions. No, they are not as common as you think.

The simplest way to say this: If you’re booking domestic non-premium seats, forget about commissions. If you’re booking international air, especially first and business class, commissions are a possibility. A possibility. Not a certainty.

I won’t go into things here, but you can read more on travel agent commissions here (airlines and otherwise). But at the end of the day, for most leisure agents, it’s frankly not worth their time to learn the GDS.

Conocido por prácticamente todos los viajeros que quieren ir a Suiza, este pase te permite utilizar toda la red Swiss Travel System, sin restricciones y de forma ilimitada, durante 3, 4, 8 o 15 días. Además, incluye la entrada gratuita a más de 480 museos y descuentos en la mayoría de las excursiones de montaña e incluso, algunas totalmente gratuitas como la Rigi o Stanserhorn que están incluidas al 100%.

¿Qué es el Swiss Travel Pass?

Tal y como te hemos comentado anteriormente, el Swiss Travel Pass es un abono de transporte con el que podrás viajar gratis en tren, autobús y barco por Suiza . Pero no solo eso, ya que este pase turístico también incluye otros beneficios, de los que hablaremos a continuación, que lo convierten en el mejor compañero de viaje si quieres ahorrar dinero en tu viaje por Suiza .

Sabemos que no siempre es fácil encontrar información completa sobre este tipo de pases y que a la vez, sea fácil de entender y sobre todo práctica y directa. Ese tipo de información que, cuando acabas de leerla, realmente te ha servido y no te hace sentir más perdido que al principio. Es por eso que, para que conozcas todas sus características principales de forma clara, te dejamos un resumen de los detalles más relevantes , que creemos, te ayudarán a entender los motivos por los que siempre recomendamos comprar el Swiss Travel Pass :

• Abono de transporte con el que podrás viajar gratis en tren, autobús y barco . Con él podrás utilizar toda la red Swiss Travel System de forma ilimitada. Esta es la red de transporte público más densa del planeta con 29.000 kilómetros de red de transporte público, incluidas vías férreas, cientos de líneas de autobús y otras tantas de barco que en conjunto, llegan a todos los puntos de interés del país.
• Podrás utilizar el transporte público de forma gratuita e ilimitada  en más de 90 ciudades.

• En el Swiss Pass  están incluidos todos los trenes panorámicos . Si quieres incluir alguno en tu viaje, únicamente tendrás que pagar un suplemento por hacer la reserva de asientos.
• No es necesario hacer ninguna reserva. Sí, estás leyendo bien. En Suiza no es necesario reservar ningún tren regional, ÚNICAMENTE deberás reservar asiento en los trenes panorámicos, ya que estos tienen una disponibilidad limitada y las plazas se agotan rápidamente.
• Los niños NO PAGAN. Sí, también estás leyendo bien, ¡los menores de 16 años no pagan! Para disfrutar de este beneficio solo tienen que presentar la Swiss Family Card, una tarjeta que les darán de forma gratuita si mínimo uno de los padres tiene un título del Swiss Travel System. En caso de que ninguno de los padres tengan el STP,  otra opción es comprar la Junior Karte en cualquier estación de tren por CHF 30, que en este caso, tiene una validez de todo un año.

¿Ya lo tienes claro? Entonces, si quieres comprarlo por adelantado, que es lo más recomendable, puedes  comprarlo aquí . Además, haciéndolo así tienes la opción de cancelación gratuita, algo super beneficioso si tienes cualquier problema y tienes que cancelar el viaje.

¿Qué incluye el STP?

Antes hemos compartido contigo un resumen sobre las características más relevantes de este abono turístico pero queremos resaltar qué incluye el Swiss Travel Pass para que puedas ver también, de forma clara, los motivos por los que comprarlo te permitirá ahorrar mucho dinero en tu viaje a Suiza .

• Viajes ilimitados en tren, autobús y barco. Incluye toda la red Swiss Travel System de forma ilimitada.
• Incluye también los viajes en trenes panorámicos a excepción de la reserva de asiento (dependiendo del tren suelen ser entre CHF 9 y CHF 39).
• Transporte público en las ciudades suizas.
• Entrada gratuita en más de 490 museos en Suiza.
• Los menores de 16 años viajan gratis siempre que un progenitor tenga el STP.

Trenes panorámicos con el Swiss Travel Pass

Esta es una de las consultas que más hemos recibido después de haber recorrido Suiza varias veces en trenes panorámicos. Y sí, aunque no lo creas, el Swiss Travel Pass incluye todos los trayectos panorámicos por Suiza . Lo único que no incluye es la reserva de asientos, que es obligatoria en la mayoría de ellos, ya que son trayectos muy solicitados y en muchos de ellos, si no reservas, no tendrías disponibilidad.

Las reservas puedes hacerlas directamente en las webs oficiales de cada uno de los trenes, indicando en el momento del pago que tienes el STP. Una vez lo hayas indicado se te cobrará únicamente el precio de la reserva de asiento que tiene un precio de entre CHF9 y CHF39 dependiendo del tren.

Tipos de Swiss Pass

Y ahora llegamos a uno de los aspectos más importantes de este abono turístico: ¿cuántos tipos de Swiss Travel Pass existen? No te preocupes, no son muchos pero sí que nos atreveríamos a decir que existe un Swiss Pass para cada viajero .

• Swiss Travel Pass: este es el abono más conocido y solicitado. Se puede adquirir para 3, 4, 8 o 15 días por lo que seguro, hay uno que encaje con tu viaje.
• Swiss Travel Pass Flex: con esta opción tendrás también un abono para 3, 4, 8 o 15 días pero en este caso, podrás escoger las fechas para utilizarlo sin que los días sean consecutivos.
• Swiss Half Fare Card: si te decantas por este abono podrás comprar billetes de tren, autobús, barco y algunos trenes de montaña con un 50% de descuento.

Además de estas opciones recuerda que si viajas con un menos de 16 años, este podrá viajar gratis siempre que uno de los progenitores haya adquirido un Swiss Travel Pass.

¿Cómo funciona el Swiss Travel Pass?

No hay nada más fácil que moverse en tren por Suiza . Y esto es extensible a todo el transporte público y al funcionamiento del Swiss Travel Pass ya que este está pensado para que puedas viajar por el país de la forma más cómoda posible. Y te lo decimos por experiencia. La primera vez que estuvimos en Suiza recorrimos el país en coche. A partir de ahí, y pese a que esta experiencia también fue increíble, todas las veces que hemos repetido, que no han sido pocas, siempre hemos optado por movernos en tren, autobús y barco y siempre, comprando el STP.

Estos son los pasos a seguir:

• Compra el Swiss Travel Pass: esto puedes hacerlo por adelantado, que es lo más recomendable o directamente en las taquillas de las principales estaciones de ferrocarril como la del aeropuerto de Zúrich o Ginebra o en las oficinas de turismo de Zúrich, Berna, Ginebra o Lucerna. Puedes  comprarlo aquí .
• Si lo has comprado online recibirás un email con el ticket electrónico Swiss Travel Pass en un plazo de 72 horas. No es necesario llevarlo impreso, puedes llevarlo guardado en el móvil. Eso sí, recuerda llevar siempre tu documentación personal (DNI o pasaporte) ya que el revisor puede pedírtela junto al STP (este es personal e intransferible).
• ¡Ya puedes utilizar cualquier transporte público de Suiza! No es necesario activarlo, ni recoger ningún ticket ni hacer nada más que no sea disfrutar de tu viaje. En caso de que hayas comprado el Swiss Travel Pass Flex , sí que deberás activarlo en esta web .

Precio Swiss Pass

Sabemos que inicialmente el Swiss Travel Pass puede parecer caro pero te aseguramos que solo tienes que hacer cuentas para ver cuánto dinero podrás ahorrar. En las siguientes tablas puedes ver los precios del Swiss Travel Pass y del Swiss Travel Pass Flex .

Es importante saber que si compras el Swiss Travel Pass normal, deberás utilizarlo en días consecutivos. En caso de que hagas paradas intermedias en ciudades en las que no vayas a utilizar el tren, puede que te compense comprar el Swiss Travel Pass Flex, que te permitirá utilizar este abono en días no consecutivos, en un plazo de un mes.

Recuerda que, si quieres comprarlos por adelantado, que es lo más recomendable, puedes comprar aquí el Swiss Travel Pass o aquí el Swiss Travel Pass Flex .

¿Dónde comprar el Swiss Travel Pass?

El Swiss Travel Pass puedes comprarlo directamente en las taquillas de las principales estaciones de ferrocarril como la del aeropuerto de Zúrich o Ginebra o en las oficinas de turismo de Zúrich, Berna, Ginebra o Lucerna.

En caso de que quieras comprarlo con antelación, que es lo más adecuado para no tener que invertir mucho tiempo durante el viaje y puedas empezar a utilizarlo directamente cuando llegues, puedes comprar aquí el Swiss Travel Pass o aquí el Swiss Travel Pass Flex . Recuerda que en el primer caso no debes hacer nada más que llevar el ticket electrónico y una identificación para enseñársela al revisor cuando este te la pida. En caso de comprar el abono flexible sí que deberás activarlo en esta web

¿Merece la pena comprar el Swiss Travel Pass?

Y ahora vamos a por lo más importante: ¿merece la pena comprar el Swiss Travel Pass? Esta es una de las preguntas que más recibimos y aunque nos gustaría, no podemos darte una respuesta cerrada ya que el beneficio del STP dependerá de dos cosas: los días que vayas a estar en Suiza y la ruta que vayas a hacer cada día. Es por eso que esta respuesta únicamente la podrás responder una vez hayas planificado todo el itinerario y hayas comparado el precio de todos los trayectos con el precio del Swiss Pass. Sí, sabemos que lo ideal sería tener una respuesta afirmativa o negativa ahora mismo pero lamentablemente, como te decíamos antes, esto es imposible si queremos ser estrictos con la respuesta. Para consultar los precios de los trenes tienes que entrar en la web de Sbb.ch , la web de los ferrocarriles suizos donde, además de los precios, también puedes consultar todos los horarios y combinaciones e incluso, saber de qué vía saldrá cada tren con más de un año de antelación. Otra herramienta super útil es la aplicación SBB Mobile App, con la que podrás hacer lo mismo que desde la web pero desde el móvil.

Pese a lo dicho anteriormente y para adelantarte un poco de trabajo, sí que podemos confirmarte que en el 95% de los casos, merece la pena comprar el Swiss Travel Pass ya que como hemos dicho en varias ocasiones, este te permite utilizar toda la red Swiss Travel System, sin restricciones y de forma ilimitada .

Otra cosa que creemos importante resaltar es que los trenes de Suiza y todo el transporte, está perfectamente acondicionado y tiene características y condiciones que podríamos incluso, comparar con cualquier opción de primera clase en España. Es por eso que si no quieres gastar un extra, no es necesario pagar el extra de primera clase. Nosotros hemos viajado en ambas opciones y realmente, a día de hoy, únicamente optaríamos por esta opción si quieres ir más tranquilo, ya que en primera clase no suele ir tanta gente.

Ejemplos prácticos

Y como siempre decimos que una imagen vale más que mil palabras y en este caso, un ejemplo, compartimos contigo los precios de algunos de los trayectos o excursiones más famosas para que puedas ver claramente que comprar el Swiss Travel Pass compensa (y mucho) ya que con este, podrás hacerlos de forma totalmente gratuita (excepto el Jungfrau para el que tendrás un descuento de un 25%.

• Tren Interlaken – Jungfrau: CHF240
• Cataratas del Rin desde Zúrich y visita a Steim am Rhein: CHF30
• Stanserhorn desde Lucerna: CHF46
• Rigi desde Lucerna: CHF60
• Barco Lucerna a Lugano: CHF44
• Bernina Express (tren panorámico de Lugano a St. Moritz): CHF60 + CHF16 (reserva asiento)
• Glacier Express (tren panorámico de St. Moritz a Zermatt): CHF150 + CHF49 (reserva asiento)
• Interlaken – Mürren: CHF50 (ida y vuelta)
• Interlaken – Grindelwald: CHF30 (ida y vuelta)

Ten en cuenta que los precios no son exactos ya que dependiendo del trayecto, el precio puede variar por los horarios o incluso, las fechas. Pese a eso, ten en cuenta que son lo más aproximados posible y que con estos, puedes hacerte una idea del ahorro que supone comprar el Swiss Travel Pass .

¿Para cuántos días puedo comprar el STP? Puedes comprarlo para 3, 4, 8 o 15 días consecutivos. En caso de querer utilizarlo en días no consecutivos puedes comprar la opción Flex.

¿Qué precio tiene el Swiss Travel Pass? El precio depende de los días. El más barato es el de 3 días que tiene un precio de CHF232 y el más caro es el de 15 días que cuesta CHF429.

¿Los niños pagan el Swiss Pass? Los menores de 16 años no pagan siempre que uno de los progenitores haya comprado un STP.

¿Puedo utilizar el Swiss Pass en días no consecutivos? Sí pero para hacerlo deberás comprar el abono Flex.

¿Merece la pena comprar primera clase? Inicialmente no creemos que merezca la pena a no ser que quieras viajar en vagones con menos gente. Ten en cuenta que la segunda clase en los trenes suizos es como primera en cualquier otro país.

Buenos días! Mis dudas son las siguientes. Queremos ir en Navidad a Suiza. Nos planteamos esta tarjeta de tren para viajar. Vamos solo 4 días 2 adultos y una niña. Entonces: – Si nos montamos en Montreux para ir a Berna pero queremos parar antes en Gruyer a verlo y comer, ¿Se puede parar y luego volver a montarte para finalizar el trayecto en Berna sin problemas y sin pagar nada extra?. -Vamos a subir a ver la casa de Papá Noel en un tren cremallera y salen a la venta a mediados de septiembre. Si ya tuviera comprada la tarjeta Swiss travel pass, cómo hago para comprar ese tren cremallera por internet y obtener los beneficios de la Swiss travel pass en el tren cremallera para ir a ver a Papá Noel? He visto que te venden los trayectos de ida y vuelta más la entrada a la gruta de Papá Noel pero no me atrevo a comprar la Swess travel pass hasta no tenrr claro que me beneficia en la compra de la cremallera a Papá Noel? Buenos días Inma, Si compras el Swiss Travel Pass no debes realizar ninguna reserva de tren más allá de los trenes panorámicos y algunos servicios puntuales como el Jungfrau. En el caso de los trenes «regionales» puedes subirte y bajarte las veces que quieras sin tener que reservar ningún billete. En caso de que no tengas el STP, para el primer ejemplo que pones deberías comprar un billete «Montreux-Gruyères» y otro «Gruyeres-Berna». Para ir a la casa de Papa Noël en Montreux debes coger el tren cremallera que te llevará hasta Rochers-de-Naye. Es muy recomendable hacer la reserva con antelación y esta puedes hacerla a través de la página de SBB. Para que se aplique el 50% de descuento que te dan por tener el STP en el momento de la compra, en el último paso, debes indicar que tienes la STP y se aplicará directamente. Saludos

¡Hola! Mi pregunta es la siguiente: Viajamos en autocarava a Suiza este verano por lo que no necesitamos coger trenes para desplazarnos por los distintos lugares. Pero sí queremos obviamente utilizar los teleféricos, barcos y demás para las atracciones turísticas (subir al Monte Rigi o Pilatus con ferry desde Lucerna, Grindelwald First, tren cremallera a Mürren, etc.. ¿Vale la pena sacar la STP igualmente?

Hola Belén, Para saber si el STP compensa o no es imprescindible hacer un listado de trayectos con sus precios y comparar el total con el precio del STP. Inicialmente, en un viaje turístico normal podemos decir que compensa pero como te decimos, es imprescindible hacer las cuentas para comprobarlo. En tu caso, si solo es por el descuento en teleféricos, remontes…etc, creemos que no te compensará. Saludos

Hola Norma, Tal y como explicamos en este post, los niños (menores de 16 años) no pagan. Para disfrutar de este beneficio solo tienes que presentar la Swiss Family Card, una tarjeta que te darán de forma gratuita si mínimo uno de los padres tiene un título del Swiss Travel System. Saludos

Buenos días! Estoy viendo para coger la tarjeta para mi viaje a suiza. Resulta que por 5 dias de diferencia me toca pagar 150€ ya que cumplo los 25 años que me posiciona como adulto en la reserva. En la información que tienen en su web ya se especifica que recibirás un correo electrónico con el ticket electrónico oficial Swiss Travel Pass en un plazo de 72 horas por lo que lo ideal, hubiese sido reservar algunos días antes. Hola, Para los trenes regionales «normales», no hace falta reservar. Las únicas reservas necesarias son para los trenes panorámicos (en este caso hay que hacerlas desde la página oficial de cada tren) y para las excursiones «especiales» como el Jungfrau. La página oficial para hacer las reservas es SBB . Saludos

Primero agradecer su contenido que nos esta sirviendo para armar nuestra ruta, hemos leido las guias de varios paises.Tienen idea si el pase de ahorro de un dia, lo puedo comprar para dos dias consecutivos!? Para saber si te compensa más o menos, lo ideal es hacer un listado de los trayectos que vas a hacer con sus precios, puedes verlos en la página SBB, y cuando tengas el total, compararlo con el precio del pase. Sentimos no poder ayudarte más pero este dato depende únicamente de los trayectos que vayas a hacer. Saludos

Hola buenos días, me asaltaba exactamente la misma duda que a Virginia. Entendido. Te mandan un Qr para llevar en el móvil verdad? que no es necesario imprimir ni nada. Luego tengo otra duda…Si yo activo la STP de 8 días el sábado 23 a las 12 del medio día, me caducaría el sábado 30 a las 24:00 horas o el domingo 1 de octubre a las 12 del mediodía?

Hola Juan, Sí, tal y como se indica en la web, recibirás un correo electrónico con el ticket electrónico oficial Swiss Travel Pass en un plazo de 72 horas. Este ticket (no el cupón GetYourGuide) es lo que debe mostrarse (impreso) al revisor del tren. Si entras en la web que enlazamos para hacer la compra, se pueden ver todas las características.

Respecto a la vigencia, si compras el STP de 8 días y lo activas el sábado 23 (sea la hora que sea), caducará el día 30 a las 23h59. Saludos

Si compramos la Swiss Travel Pass Family porque tenemos dos hijos menores de 16 años, ya se indica que no pagan. Pero para los trayectos de montaña que si se paga algo, ni que sea el 50% con la Swiss Travel Pass, los niños no pagan nada de billete o tienen que pagar el 50% como los adultos? Gracias

Hola Sílvia, Los menores de 16 años no pagan si viajan acompañados de un progenitor. Si entras en la página de SBB y haces una simulación de compra, poniendo la edad, puedes ver como se indica que el precio es «0». Saludos

Hola Lourdes, Sentimos mucho no poder ayudarte demasiado ya que el beneficio depende únicamente de los trayectos que vayas a hacer. Te recomendamos hacer un listado con sus precios, puedes encontrarlos en la página SBB y cuando tengas el total, compararlo con los precios de los distintos Swiss Travel Pass para ver cuál es la opción más beneficiosa en tu caso. Nos encantaría poder darte una respuesta que fuese «sí o no» pero como puedes ver, depende de cada caso. Saludos

Hola Carolina, En los trenes «normales» no es necesario hacer ninguna reserva ya que siempre hay disponibilidad, tal y como explicamos en el artículo. En los únicos trenes que sí es necesario hacer reserva es en los panorámicos y tal y como también explicamos, esta se puede hacer a través de las páginas oficiales de cada uno de los trenes panorámicos (Glaciar Express, Bernina Express…) Saludos

Hola Víctor, En este mapa puedes ver el área de validez. Respecto a la primera y segunda clase es extremadamente fácil localizarlas y además, en los cárteles informativos de los andenes, podrás ver incluso en qué vagones se ubica cada una de ellas. Saludos

Hola Víctor, Como dices, la mayoría del transporte está incluido en el STP, de ahí que sea un pase super recomendable para los viajeros que quieren recorrer el país en tren, autobús o barco. Además, al incluir un 50% de descuento en remontes de montaña, también es muy beneficioso para hacer excursiones. Saludos

¡Hola! Tengo algunas preguntas relacionadas con esta conversación, espero puedan ayudarme si no es mucha molestia:

Con respecto a usar la STP y las actividades que incluye o en las que oferta descuento (como la del Monte Rigi), ¿tengo que estar personalmente en las taquillas de los lugares de interés para comprar los tickets o puedo hacerlo online? En el caso de que pueda hacerlo online (Rigi y Zermatt son mis dos excursiones señaladas): ¿en qué portal web podría reservar y añadir la información de mi STP para disfrutar de sus ventajas?

Hola Enrique, Los tickets puedes comprarlos/reservarlos directamente en la página SBB indicando que tienes el abono STP. De todas formas comentarte que no es necesario hacer este tipo de reservas ya que siempre hay disponibilidad y las frecuencia de los trenes es altísima. Saludos
