FAQs and More

Do i need to purchase admission tickets online in advance.

Yes, we sell date-specific admission tickets online only.  We limit attendance each day to help provide a most enjoyable visit, and online advance purchase is the only way to ensure you can visit on any given date.

If the date is most important to you, you can commit to a date and purchase the non-refundable ticket, understanding the weather is unknown, and the park will be open on that date regardless of temperatures and in variable weather, rain or shine or even snow.

If the weather is most important to you, you can wait until you see a forecast you like before purchasing a non-refundable ticket, understanding the number of tickets sold for each day is limited and the date may be sold out before you commit to it.

Why does the park limit attendance each day?

To help ensure a most enjoyable visit, and help to avoid overcrowding, and to help minimize waiting for attractions, we limit the number of tickets sold for each operating day.

Feedback from our guests over the past several years has been very positive about capacity limits, and it was one of the most frequent requests from visitors in prior years.

We have been limiting capacity and selling admission online only since 2016 for our New Year’s Eve event, and since 2020 for our entire schedule.

What if the forecast calls for rain or snow on my selected visit date?

Please purchase tickets only if you are committed to visiting on the selected date, regardless of changing weather forecasts or actual weather.  We do not provide refunds or date exchanges for weather.

The park operates rain, snow, or shine.  We aim to deliver Pure Joy, Family Style, even when wet or cold.  Certain rides and attractions may possibly close temporarily when there is thunder or lightning in the area, or a brief driving downpour, or if snow or ice cause complications.

Similar to a concert, stage show, or sporting event, tickets holders ensure their own admission for a specific date, and exclude others from admission on that date.  For this reason, we do not refund or exchange dates on tickets.

Weather forecasts are sometimes right, sometimes wrong, and often change. That’s why we’re committed to opening each scheduled operating day regardless of forecasts or actual local weather. (There have been only a couple instances of severe weather at the park forcing a last-minute cancellation during our 70 years of operations.)

Do you allow outside food into the park?

Yes, guests are welcome to bring their own picnic lunches; however, glass, grills, alcohol, and narcotics are prohibited. Picnic tables are located throughout the park.

Should you wish to leave and re-enter the park, please have your hand stamped at the Stocking Stuffer Gift Shop located at the Exit.

I have a food allergy, what do you offer?

We have a few food areas that have egg, dairy, gluten and nut ingredients in their products. We would like to have detailed them for you; however, ingredients change on a weekly basis. Please check with each shop for the latest labels.

  • The Sugar ‘N Spice Bake Shop:  All Santa’s cookies contain gluten, egg or dairy products.  We offer nut-free, nut-free and gluten-free, and dairy-free pre-packaged cookies that are safe.  Other than juices, there are no products here without dairy. Some cookies contain nuts, and there is a potential for cross-contamination.
  • Burger Meister Food Court:  This season we offer a gluten-free chicken finger and gluten-free fries.  Please ask Santa’s Helper to special order these.  Hotdogs contain potassium lactate, but the french fries, onion rings, burgers (without the roll), garden salads and fruit bowls are all free from dairy. We do make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so the potential for cross-contamination is great here with nuts and gluten.
  • Frosty’s Freezer:  This building contains a variety of ice creams, sauces and cones. All have dairy products in them, some have nuts. Soft serve ice cream is safe. Cones all contain gluten.
  • Dasher’s Delights: Mostly fast foods here specializing in fried dough, burgers, and fries. This season we offer a gluten-free chicken finger and gluten-free fries.  Please ask Santa’s Helper to special order either option.  Hot dogs contain potassium lactate. Please check the ingredient list there.
  • Nutcracker Sweets: We use Pop-All popping oil, which is made up of soybean and coconut oil, for the popcorn.
  • The Jolly Lolly:  There is a great nut-free chocolate bar here that has been made in a safe environment.
  • Nick’s Pizza:  We offer a gluten-free pizza dough.  Please ask Santa’s Helper to special order.   Nick’s has no ingredients that contain eggs; however, the cheese does have dairy. Cross-contamination might be an issue if sensitive to this. No nuts. They sell milk here too.
  • Fruit Loup’s Farm Stand: Here’s where you’ll find treats of the purest quality. Fresh fruits, fresh veggies, and beverages.
  • Doe-Nut Shop:  Wonderful mini-doughnuts and drinks; there are egg, flour, and nut products here.
  • The Polar Expresso: Gluten products (pretzels), sweetened nuts, and coffees.
  • The Merry Mess Hall: We offer flatbread pizzas.  There are products in this location that contain dairy and tree nuts so there is a potential for cross-contamination here.

Hope this is a little helpful to you. Should you have additional questions now or during your visit, please do not hesitate to ask. We try to avoid cross-contamination in all our shops, however, it cannot be guaranteed.

What rides can my child ride?

visit santa's village

Do you rent lockers in the park?

Yes, we have two locations with lockers available to rent for the day, for $10 per locker.

Just inside the park entrance, on the back outside wall of the Stocking Stuffer Exit Gift Shop, lockers are available to rent any day the park is open.  These lockers measure 18 inches high, by 14 inches wide, by 20 inches deep.  The cost is $10 for the day.  These lockers require inserting cash in $5 or $10 bills (no change given, credit cards not processed here) into an automated machine.  You’ll be asked to choose a color and to provide a number code that will allow access throughout the day; there are no keys for these lockers.

Near the back of the park, on the outside wall of the Elfs Lodge Trading Post Gift Shop at the water park, lockers are available to rent on most days that the water park is open.  These lockers measure 18 inches high, by 15 inches wide, by 17 inches deep.  The cost is $10 for the day.  These lockers require paying the cashier at the Trading Post Gift Shop $10 for the locker rental and use of a key to open the locker throughout the day; you’ll  need to return the key to the cashier by the end of the day.

Do you have wheelchairs or motorized scooters available?

Yes, we have adult wheelchairs (to borrow) and motorized scooters (to rent with advance reservation).

The motorized adult scooters are rented on a daily basis for $40 per day. Restrictions include: only one rider/operator per scooter; minimum age 16 years old; maximum weight under 350 pounds.  Scooters must be rented online, click here for details.

There is no charge for the use of a wheelchair, and they are loaned out on a first-come, first-serve basis as guests arrive at the park.

My child has special needs. What might be available?

We’ve teamed up with Sensory City and the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism to create a Sensory Guide for families who are planning a visit to the park.  Please, click here  to view our guide.

We provide “Preferential Accessibility” to guests who have difficulty waiting in lines. Please stop by the Guest and Family Services Center inside the Polar Theater building.  There, you may explain your situation to our attendant to see if a preferential access pass is available, and learn the guidelines for use of the pass at certain rides and at Santa’s Home.

A universal changing table (accommodates guests who have outgrown children’s changing tables) is available in the North Bowl family restroom near the park entrance any day the park is open.  During water park operating days, there’s also a universal changing table available in the Elfs Lodge family restroom.

Do you allow pets into the park?

Pets can spend the day in our complimentary Canine Condos just outside the park. They’re available on a first-come, first-serve basis; sorry, we don’t take reservations. They are good-sized, individual cages that are in the shade.  When you arrive, check with a Helper inside the Exit Gift Shop (inside the ‘Out’ igloo behind the Soldier Slide when viewed from the parking lot). In the gift shop we’ll collect a $10 deposit and provide you with a key and bowl for use throughout the day; the full $10 deposit is returned to you when you return the key and bowl to the gift shop.

These Condos are not supervised but they are in view of the public and our Helpers in the parking lot. Should your dog have a problem, we’ll usually know rather quickly. You’re welcome to check on your dog at any time during your visit with us — just get your hand stamped the first time out through the exit so you can re-enter the park throughout the day.

We have a total of 36 Canine Condos.  There are two sizes: 3 feet wide, by 4 feet high, by 5-and-a-half feet deep; and, 4 feet wide, by 4 feet high, by 5-and-a-half feet deep.  Each one features a solid ceiling and floor, and two solid side walls; the back wall and front door are chain link fence to allow air flow; pets cannot see other animals while in their condos.

Are the canine condos available at Christmastime?

We do offer these “Condos” at Christmastime, but also feel that your car might serve better as it’s warmer and more comfy for your animal(s). Remember to open the window just a little if you choose to leave your pet in the car during this colder season.

On rides not suitable for babies, do you have a parent swap option?

Yes, mention to our Ride Attendant that you would like to arrange for a “parent swap” while watching the baby as others in your party enjoy the ride.  The Attendant will instruct you where to stand while the others ride.

After the first adult has finished the ride and taken supervision of the baby, you can participate on the ride without having to go through the queue line again.  Your other children on the ride may stay on if they wish and enjoy the ride again with you.

Examples of rides that can accommodate a “parent swap” include: the Yule Log Flume, Rudy’s Rapid Transit Coaster, the Bumper Cars, Christmas Ferris Wheel, the Chimney Drop, Himalaya, S.S. Peppermint Twist, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, Little Drummer Boy, the Great Humbug Adventure, Hot Shots Fire Brigade, Poogee Penguin’s Spin Out Coaster, and Loopin’ Louie’s Little Elf Flying School.

Examples where babies can join the other family members on a ride include: the Reindeer Carousel, Skyway Sleigh, Antique Cars, and Santa’s Express Train.

I'm pregnant, can I ride on all of the rides?

There’s plenty to see and do and share with your family.  We do ask that women who are pregnant exercise additional caution when deciding about participating on rides; we ask that you please avoid using any rides that include the pregnancy icon on the guidelines scroll sign posted at each ride.  Some of these rides are:

  • Yule Log Flume
  • Rudy’s Rapid Transit Coaster
  • Bumper Cars
  • The Chimney Drop
  • Joy Ride Slides

Many of our rides are fine, and lots of fun, even when pregnant.  Most will be appropriate if the safety latches can be secured.  We provide a comfortable family park where benches and rest stops are easily accessible.

Do you have nursing facilities available?

Yes, Mary and Joseph’s Nursery is located off the Polar Theater lobby, with a large sink, microwave, changing spots, and separate rooms for nursing moms with chairs for those who desire privacy.

We also have a room for nursing mothers at our North Bowl facility near the entrance and exit of the park; and one during the summer months at the Elfs Lodge near the water park.

Do you close during inclement weather?

Historically, we open and operate regardless of the weather — we know it can be a bit of a drive to get here, so we’re almost always open as advertised when you arrive.  (There have been only a couple of very rare exceptions, due to extreme weather events, over the past seven decades.)

Rain is a part of summer, and it rarely lasts all day.  Our rides and shows operate even in the rain, and visiting on a rainy day (or even a nice day that had rain in the forecast) often results in a most memorable and enJOYable visit.  We will temporarily close some rides and our water park features while there is thunder or lightning in the area.

Snow can be a part of our Christmastime season, and it usually adds to the holiday spirit.  Usually, we are able to plow and shovel the snow away to give a wonderful sense of the holidays.  Snow, rain, and freezing temperatures may limit the operation of some rides (such as You Tubing, Rudy’s Roller Coaster, Poogee Penguin’s Spin Out Coaster, the Christmas Ferris Wheel, or possibly others) while having little impact on other features and attractions.

What are "Rein-Checks?"

“Rein-checks” are return-admission tickets sometimes issued if stormy weather unexpectedly ends your day shortly after arrival; precipitation must be hard and steady for an extended period of time with no let-up in sight.  Sorry, no refunds.

Are there discounts or coupons available?

Our commitment to our guests is to deliver a good value every day, and to assure everyone that whatever day they purchase an admission pass they’re getting the best deal available.  That means we include and deliver a lot in the cost of admission – parking, stroller use, the Elfabet scavenger hunt, a blacksmith ring, unlimited rides, shows, water park access, visits with Santa and his reindeer, the option to bring in your own picnic and snacks, and more – and it also means that we stay away from offering any sorts of coupons or promotional discounting.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes, historically during the Summertime and Fall Weekends through October we’ve offered a military discount off the regular admission rate.  A military ID is required for this discount to apply.

Is there a charge for parking?

No, there is never a charge to park at Santa’s Village.  RVs and larger vehicles are asked to park in the lot across the road from the park. Our Parking Lot Helpers are a jovial group. Please ask them for any assistance.

When are the water park and other water rides open?

The water park — including HO, HO, H2O, the Joy Ride water slides, Polar Paradise, and Poogee’s Splash Pad  — are scheduled to operate from the season-opening day through Sunday, September 10, 2023.  The water park is scheduled to open at 10:30am; because the  water is unheated, we may sometimes wait for air temperatures to reach 65 degrees F before opening the water park on any given day.

Use of the water park is optional and it’s included the price of admission, subject to availability, based on guest traffic flow and the water park area’s capacity for maintaining appropriate distancing at various points during the day.  We may sometimes limit the number of guests in the water park at one time, to help with distancing between parties when conditions require.

Other water rides — including the Yule Log Flume, Red Hot Racers, and the squirting portion of Hot Shots Fire Brigade — are open from the season-opening day through September 10, 2023.

How long does it take to visit Santa's Village?

It depends upon the individuals, because Santa’s Village is a theme park designed to be  enjoyed with family and friends, rather than a collection of rides to ‘get through.’ Some guests enjoy an entire day, while others may visit for two days.  Admission includes all the fantastic shows, visits with Santa and his reindeer, fun-filled rides, and more—including the water park in season.

What are the best days to visit?

Any day we’re open is a terrific day to visit!  The park takes pride in providing a day or more of activities for the entire family.

We limit the attendance each day to help provide the best experience available, and to help minimize any time spent waiting in line.  (If you see a line at a feature or attraction, you can be pretty certain that there’s no line at another, allowing you to adjust your visit to maximize your enjoyment.)

Does the park place any restrictions on concealed-carry permit holders?

Weapons are prohibited at Santa’s Village.  While we recognize that some of our guests may have training, certifications, and permits, we reserve our rights as private property owners to prohibit weapons of any sort on the premises.

We Believe:

  • We believe in the goodness of Santa and the Christmas spirit all year round!  We’re committed to delivering Pure Joy. Family Style.
  • We believe in providing a good value for every visit.  Admission includes parking, stroller use, Elfabet game, blacksmith ring, rides, shows, visits with Santa & his reindeer, water park in season, and other attractions.
  • We believe everyone deserves the best rate.  We have fair & simple everyday pricing without sales gimmicks.
  • We believe every visit is special for your family.   We treat every day as though it’s a special event.
  • We believe everyone deserves the best experience we can deliver.  We open our attractions and operate our rides with minimal disruptions.
  • We believe everyone deserves the best service we can provide.  We open our gift shops and food shops with minimal exceptions, and our own staff.

Capacity is limited each day.

Tickets will be sold online only.

Let me start by saying, If you've been indecisive about visiting, trust me when I say It's absolutely worth it. It is the ultimate holiday experience in the mountains. The moment we step foot inside the park the festive holiday cheer immediately takes over. Every holiday season we drive up for the day and open and close the park. There is so much to enjoy! I'm going to share all about our experience and give you an inside look at what to expect once at the park. Plus some helpful tips and tricks and even our review of their all new 2023 VIP pass.

The Ultimate Holiday Experience In The Mountains

Why You Should Visit SkyPark At Santa's Village

SkyPark at Santa's Village is exactly what they call themselves, a Nostalgic Christmas in the Woods. There are trees, festive decor, and the beautiful sounds of nostalgic holiday music playing all throughout the adventure park. There is something to do for all ages. You can come with the family, friends, or even plan a day date. Makes for a full fun filled day. Everyone is bound to have a great time and you will see exactly why on the next paragraphs. This season they are open through January 7, 2024.

Things To Do At SkyPark At Santa's Village

Im going to start by answering a question many have asked, "Are all the activities included in an admission ticket?". The answer is most are with the exception of a few. I'll highlight down below what has an extra fee. However, the general admission ticket already allows you to do tons of activities so if you rather not pay for any additional add on, you most certainly don't have to.

Santa Visit

You can't visit Santa's Village without visiting everyones favorite guy! We were able to have a private chat with Santa in his beautiful North Pole Cabin. Inside you can tell him what you'd like for Christmas as well as take professional photographs. The picture is an additional fee HOWEVER, they allow you to take your own pictures and will even take them for you. Thats what we did! Right outside the cabin is a mailbox where you can send in your list or write Santa a nice thank you note for last years gifts, so bring that with you ahead of time. There are 3 ways to see Santa, sign up for a reservation upon arrival, use the standby line or purchase a VIP Ticket to make your reservation ahead of time. More on the VIP ticket down below.

TIP: There are lines all day long! If you decide to purchase a general admission ticket make a reservation immediately on arrival. It will save you time. If you don't care for Ziplining, make a reservation with Santa your first stop to make a reservation, If you want to zipline this will be your second stop and I'll tell you why down below.

Santa's Pictures at SkyPark At Santa's Village

Ice Skating

Ice Skating was another fun activity we love to do. What else screams winter and holidays like ice skating right?! We enjoy it so much we usually do it during the day and go back for a second time at night. Skate rentals are included and there is no need for reservations. You are free to ice skate for as little or as long as you'd like. The ice is always smooth which makes ice skating a fun and enjoyable experience even for beginners.

TIP: Make sure you bring some thick socks but some are available for purchase.

Ice Skating

The Wacko Magic Show

The Wacko Show is a magic show that always leaves us all speechless. He always makes us laugh and is very entertaining. Wacko really gets the audience involved which always adds to the fun of the show. Definitely a good way to rest while having a good laugh. Check mobile app or entertainment QR code on arrival for show schedules and parade information.

Kids Imagine Nation Show

This is a high energy show with tons of dancing, singing and music. Combines fun and laughs with some of our favorite holiday songs. Audience participation is encouraged and the kiddos love to dance and sing along. Check mobile app or entertainment QR code on arrival for show schedules and parade information.

The Village Tree Lighting Parade

The Village Tree Lighting Parade is always another favorite. Right as the sun starts setting all of the fun characters along with Santa walk towards the beautiful Village Christmas tree for the Village Tree lighting ceremony. It's a fun and beautiful celebration.

TIP: Show times can vary so make sure you check your entertainment QR code on arrival. You can find that right at the entrance even before entering the park or download and check toe mobile app.

Northwoods Characters roam around the park throughout the day and are always very friendly and happy to chat and take pictures. Alexias favorite is always Arrow and we have even brought a toy stuffed Arrow home. Why Arrow you ask? Well if you know my daughter, you know she loves dogs so her attention immediately went to this character. We got this awesome picture by the tree with most of the characters during one of our visits.

Northwoods Characters

Northwoods Express Train

The Northwoods Express Train ride is the perfect way to explore the the Land of Sweets. We saw visitors riding the train all times of the day, specially the smaller little visitors or those train fanatics. Closed toed shoes are required to ride the train.

We all love to add a little adventure to our festive day, and what better way to do that then with ziplining 30 feet above the forest floor! We do it every year and absolutely love it. It was a first for all 3 of us during our first visit and always feel completely safe with all the precautions they take. It's such a great experience. Harnesses are provided for full safety of all age groups. If you are a thrill seeker this is a MUST. Requirements: you must weigh 60-250 pounds and have closed toe shoes.

TIP: This is known to be the FIRST thing that fills up at the park. Immediately on arrival head straight to make your reservations. Per SkyPark employees, reservations have been known to fill up for the whole day within 30 minutes of the park opening. On arrival we walked straight to make these reservations and it worked out perfectly.

Royal Games

Right after Ziplining we like to head straight to Ax throwing, Archery and to do some shooting. It a great way to follow our adventurous zip lining and keep the adrenaline going. Ax throwing is for ages 12 and up, Archery 6 and up and shooting is 3-8 accompanied by an adult. It's always tons of fun!

Rock Climbing

This is another favorite of my daughters. They have an indoor area (Magic Tree Bouldering Room) or this rock climbing wall. Another great and adventurous experience to enjoy.

Arrows Adventure

We also love to hop into a pedal car to zoom through the ice cave to continue being adventurous. For this, helmets are provided and as with most of the park activities, closed toe shoes are required.

Think this is already a lot to do? Well there's more. Yes, theres actually other activities and shows included in a general admission ticket. Told you there's tons of things to do! I'll list them down below but you can read more about them over at SkyPark At Santas Village Website .

-Balance Trail

-B-rail (coming soon)

-Meadowlands Trail

-Discovery Playscape

-Skypark Puppet Theater

Nominal Fee Activities

The following activities are for a nominal fee. We loved including 2 from the list below in our visit and if you have the option to, I highly recommend it.

Cookie Decorating

This is an additional $7 for 2 cookies, frosting and sprinkles. It's the perfect way to do a fun activity and enjoy a sweet treat.

Toy Decorating

This cost an additional $12 to $15 per toy. You get to choose your toy and paint it right inside Santas Workshop. Makes for a good souvenir, holiday decorations or activity to continue at home.

Toy Decorating at Santa's Village

Gemstone Mining

This one we've yet to try since it's in water and during this time of years it's too chilly for us to do but if you've hot a gemstone enthusiast it can definitely be a fun option.

Food & Drinks

Of course all these fun activities always make us hungry and there's no lack of delicious food, snacks, or drinks. I'll share what we've had and some of the other options available. w

The Gingerbread House Bakery & Sweet Shoppe: This is usually our first treat stop. We have had gingerbread man cookies, chocolate chip and our latest cookie was the chocolate cookie with candy cane bits. Cookies are always crunchy on the outside but gooey on the inside. Our favorite so far is the chocolate candy cane cookie. We also love the drinks here! We have tasted the gingerbread hot chocolate, peppermint hot chocolate and the traditional apple cider. You can't go wrong with any of these choices but we all agreed that the peppermint has been our favorite.

Billy's BBQ House: is great for an early dinner and it is delicious. We are all BBQ fans so the moment we smell the BBQ and see a tray of perfectly cooked brisket, we all know this is where we should be eating. Meat is always tender and the BBQ sauce is very savory. My daughter LOVES the mashed potatoes too.

St Nicks Patio and Grille : This restaurant has such awesome outdoor patio seating and we've relaxed with a pizza and some drinks around the firepit.

Where to eat at Santa's Village

The Pedal Pub: 21 and over listen up! This is an indoor outdoor pub with crafts brews and specialty drinks. We ordered from the holiday inspired menu and went with a Merry Mule , Santas Sangria, and a Jack Daniels with hot apple cider. All were tasty but both hubby and I agreed that the Nightcap (Jack Daniels/hot apple cider) was our favorite. That is by no means my usual drink of choice but the hot apple cider made a world of a difference. Perfect for our chilly evening.

The Lunch Box: has great handcrafted sandwiches, paninis and ice cream. We've had a quick lunch here on several occasions and we always enjoy their sandwiches. Great place for a quick and easy lunch.

Kringles coffee: is your stop for caffeinated beverages for a morning or late evening pick me up. They also have non caffeinated specialty beverages or morning sandwiches. Think of it like the Starbucks of Skypark at Santas Village.

New VIP Package 2023

Unfortunately this package is no longer available for the season, however I think it's important for me to review it for those interested in purchasing it for next years Holiday Season.

VIP Package

The Holidays are the busiest time of the year and they created this experience to make everyone's visit extra magical before even stepping foot inside the park.

With this package not only did we get to enjoy everyday park activities, entertainment show and bike park but we got to experience the nostalgia of Santa's Village and the additional holiday offerings.

With this package we received and exclusive gift box shipped directly to our home containing:

Day pass wristband

Parking pass

Adventure passport

Santa's Village Sticker

Parchment for writing a letter to Santa

Arrow reading book

Letter from Santa

Cookie decorating during visit

Toy decorating during visit

Securing your reservation to visit with Santa in advance

Skip the main line entrance

The last few items on the list were the BIG ones for me. No more worrying if reservations to visit with Santa would fill up due to high demand or wasting time in line waiting. Another big one, we didn't need to rush up the mountain in the morning to be first in line even before they opened. We were able to walk right in through the VIP line and went straight to the ziplining sign up since we already had our Santa reservation. Plus we loved the additional goodies we got in the box that made for great souvenirs as well as pre holiday fun activities.

Purchasing the box actually helps save money as opposed to purchasing it all separately. Plus you get all the awesome perks I mentioned above.

Is the box worth it? It absolutely is. It's so convenient. Can you still enjoy the park with a general admission ticket? You absolutely can. We've visited with both options and our visits have been equally magical so don't be discouraged if you are not ready for a VIP experience box or missed it this year (2023)

Things To Know Before You Visit

Some tips I have already mentioned above but are all worth mentioning again in this section. These have all helped make our visits go super smooth, with no wait times or delays of any kind. Im sharing them in hopes that you will find them helpful and help answer some questions you might have.

Arrive 30 minutes before opening time. We arrived at 9:30, park was opening at 10am and there was already a decent line. This will help guarantee some reservations.

Everyone entering the park requires a waiver. Make sure you do them online before arrival otherwise you will need to make a separate line in the morning before entering the park.

Purchase tickets online ahead of time. Days do sell out, in fact some already have, so if you have a date in mind don't wait and book now

On arrival if you want to zipline go straight to make that reservations FIRST. Right after that go make your Santa Reservations SECOND.

If you plan to purchase or want to see any of the professional Santa Pictures taken, DO NOT wait until the end when everyone else wants to see them. Save some time and go look at them in the middle of the day to avoid any lines at the end of the day.

This is an all day visit. There is tons to do. Get your moneys worth and plan to spend the whole day at this outdoor festive adventures park.

Most activities required closed toe shoes so save yourself a headache and just wear closed toe shoes on the day of your visit.

During this time of year it is very chilly in the morning and at nights. Wear layers and come dressed for chilly nights and lots of walking.

In Conclusion

This has definitely become a yearly tradition for our family. We highly recommend it. It made for the perfect festive and adventurous day. In addition to all the fun I mentioned, the park was spotless and every single employee we came across was so nice and happy to answer any questions. We really cant ask for a better experience. Hope you will get the opportunity to visit this season!

California's Winter Escape: SkyPark at Santa's Village

Santa's Village is California's most underrated holiday attraction, perfect for the whole family.

California.com Team

November 28, 2023

As the holiday season approaches, excitement builds for the magical experience awaiting at Santa's Village in Skyforest, California. Nestled in the picturesque landscape , this enchanting destination offers a blend of festive joy and outdoor adventure. Whether you're planning a family trip or a solo visit, Santa's Village is a winter wonderland that promises unforgettable memories. Let's explore what this charming village has to offer from November 16, 2023, to January 7, 2024.

Before diving into the attractions, it's crucial to plan your visit. General holiday tickets are priced at $49 for ages 13 and up, while children aged 4 to 12 can enter for $39. Weekend visits and dates closer to Christmas see a rise in ticket prices, so planning ahead is key. Although tickets are available at the door, it's wise to purchase them in advance to avoid disappointment, as they tend to sell out quickly.

A few years ago, I took Field Trip Girl and Field Trip Boy on a merrymaking adventure to visit the all new  Santa’s Village near Lake Arrowhead, California.  We were among nearly 300 adults and children who braved the cold temperatures, with wind chills as low as 20 degrees, to attend the reopening of the park, now officially called SkyPark at Santa’s Village .

Then last year, SoCal Field Trips sent our blog contributor, Fran Sawyer, and her family went back up the mountain to check out the latest enhancements they had made to the Christmas theme park.  We have been following the theme park’s restoration process for sometime now on social media, and wanted see the outcome for ourselves.  So when Fran arrived early in the morning, the village was slowly awakening from years of slumber.

Santa’s Village History

Santa’s Village originally opened on Memorial Day weekend in 1955.  Glen Holland, a local Crestline resident, built the original park on 15 acres of the total 230 acres, which were leased to Santa’s Village by the Henck Family.  The holiday theme park operated for approximately 23 years and became the first franchised theme park in the country .

Due to lack of finances, the “Old Fire” of 2003 and a bark beetle infestation that weakened the already drought stricken trees, Santa’s Village was left desolate for many years. But then in 2015, new owners purchased the land and made restoring the historic qualities of the park paramount in their efforts to bring the old theme park back to it’s full glory.

However, waiting in line to see Santa outdoors can be tough when it snows, especially on the weekends.  Baby, it’s cold outside!  So to help cut down on your wait time, I recommend that you have one adult save your spot in line, while another adult takes your child to visit other areas of the park such as Santa’s Workshop, Arrow’s Adventure or Santa’s Village Mining Co.  Keep your cell phone close by though, so you can be notified when your time to see Santa is up.

Children can mine for gemstones and arrowhead in Santa’s Sleuce Box.  The fun part is that children get to take home what they find and they give you a handy guide to learn about the rocks.  Take note though, in the winter you need to wear water proof gloves.  My children’s hands were freezing afterwards and we had to spend a lot of time indoors warming up.

This indoor cave climbing experience is good for all ages and experience levels.  The room is bright and cheery with lots of room for climbing.  The staff provided us with complimentary climbing shoes and spotted Fran’s son as he surveyed the wall.  He did quite well for having no previous experience!  The cave is also a great place to warm up and get out of the cold.

St. Nick’s Patio & Grille  is where you’ll find burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads.  The food was fairly decent.  I ordered a chili cheese hot dog and had my children each had a kids meals – pepperoni pizza and grilled cheese.  It is  equivalent to what you might order at Denny’s or Norm’s Diner.   For those more willing to bear the cold, you can sit outside on the patio and cozy up around the fire pit.

If you are looking for a more fine dining experience, I recommend that you make a reservation to eat at the Guardian .  Enjoy fine dining in this bistro style restaurant and patio with a rustic and elegant ambiance.

For those more willing to bear the cold, you can sit outside on the patio and cozy up around the fire pit.

K’s Kandyshoppe and Creamery – At the previous old “Mill Wheel Toy Shop”, you can treat your family to homemade chocolates and confections.  I found a wide variety of nostalgic candies and gifts from yesteryear that I purchased as presents for my kids.  The prices were fairly reasonable with candies starting at $1.

Gingerbread House

The Gingerbread House, one of the original buildings at Santa’s Village, serves deliciously tasting homemade gingerbread cookies, pastries and baked goods.  The gingerbread cookies were outstanding and I purchased one for the trip home.

Routes North - Nordic travel guide

The best places to visit Santa in Sweden, Norway and Finland

Of course, the exact location of Santa’s North Pole workshop is top secret.

But the good news is he’s set up satellite offices at several locations in Scandinavia and the Nordic countries.

All of these spots are worth a visit for more than just Santa, so if you’re considering a Christmas-themed trip to the top of the world, plan on giving yourself a few days, at the very least.

You’ll need time to visit the big man, drive a dogsled, take a reindeer ride, do some skiing, warm up in the sauna, and even get some Christmas shopping done while you’re at it.

Here are some of the best places to see Santa in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Take a reindeer sleigh ride when visiting Santa at Christmas

Rovaniemi, Finland

As any Finn will tell you, Santa is Finnish.

And while perhaps a few Swedes and Norwegians would beg to differ, thanks to the fact that Lapland also stretches through their countries, there’s no question that Finns do Christmas very, very well.

Santa’s most visited ‘official’ residence is Santa’s Village in Rovaniemi, Finland, right on the Arctic Circle. If you’re looking for the full-on, magical Santa experience, this is it.

Santa's Village in Rovaniemi, Finland is a great place to see Santa at Christmas

Santa’s Village has a charming ‘office’ set up, where Santa meets his visitors.

It’s free, you don’t need an appointment and, naturally, Santa speaks perfect English, so no worries there. After your visit, you can go for a reindeer sleigh ride, a dog-sled ride and, of course, shop and eat.

You can also post letters in the official North Pole post office where they’ll be stamped with the official Arctic Circle postmark. No matter the time of year, if you put your letter in the special red post box, it’ll be held for Christmas delivery.

Mrs. Claus has a house at the holiday village , too, complete with singing elves and cookies.

And, you can step over the actual Arctic Circle which cuts right through the village. It’s all a little touristy, some might even say kitsch, but it’s a fun, memorable experience – and not just for the kids.

Once you’re here you may as well take advantage of everything else that Finnish Lapland has to offer, including snowmobile tours, husky-sledging , hiking trips, sauna and hot-tub experiences, frozen waterfalls and, of course, the northern lights.

There are plenty of tours available from Rovaniemi, including this northern lights by snowmobile trip, this reindeer and husky farm trip where you can drive a sleigh pulled by reindeer and, for the hardy, this ice-fishing and ice-floating trip .

Go husky-sledging when visiting Santa at Christmas at the North Pole.

The dog-sled experience at Santa’s Village is budget-friendly, quick, and surprisingly beautiful, so don’t miss it, especially if you don’t have the time or funds for a full or half-day sled excursion elsewhere.

Getting there

Rovaniemi, the de facto capital of Finnish Lapland, is a ninety-minute flight from Helsinki, and there are direct flights from abroad in season.

The most festive way to get here, though, is on the Santa Express Night Train from Helsinki, which takes about twelve hours.

Once you arrive, you can rent a car, catch a taxi, or pick up the Santa Village Express Bus , which circles between the airport, the train station, downtown Rovaniemi and Santa’s Village.

Visit Santa at Christmas at Santa's Village, Rovaniemi, Finland

Where to stay : It’s worth paying a little bit extra to stay right in the heart of Santa Claus Village – these classic cabins come with a private sauna – and Father Christmas is just a two-minute walk away.

Santaworld (Tomteland), Sweden

For a much more low-key Santa experience, head to Santaworld in Gusunda, central Sweden .

This Santa destination is, well, very Swedish. Instead of what many might consider “traditional” holiday fare, expect a Swedish fairy-tale experience with actors roaming the grounds in costume –including Santa and Mrs Claus.

Meet Santa and his animals at Tomteland, Sweden at Christmas

Swedish characters such as trolls, witches and dragons mingle with the elves. It’s very geared to small children, with carriage rides, pedal boats and plenty of magical places for kids to let off steam.

Plays are performed throughout the day, involving Fairytale Land being saved from the Troll King – these can be challenging if you don’t speak Swedish or know the fairytales, but there are a few English performances, so look out for those.

And there are plenty of other things to do too, including meeting Santa’s reindeer and other animals, plus Juleljus, the dancing Christmas tree, and Dusty the living snowman.

The best part of Santaworld is interacting with the characters, who speak English and are unforgettably delightful. And of course, Santa, who is as low-key and friendly as the rest of his friends.

The nearest airport to Santaworld is Mora airport, about 15km away. Buses are possible from Sweden’s major cities, but a car is really the best option – it’s about a 4hr-drive from Stockholm.

Where to stay : A short walk from Santaworld, the Gesundaberget Lodge & Stugby has quad rooms for families, plus a sauna and children’s playground. There’s also skiing to the door, and they can sort out ski gear and lift passes.

Drøbak, Norway

Don’t tell the Finns, but the Norwegians have their very own ‘official’ home of Santa, Drøbak , a small, charming, former maritime village about 35km south of Oslo.

There’s a post office where you can send postcards with an official Santa postmark, and the tourist office has a permanent exhibition of 250,000 letters to Santa from all over the world.

Drøbak is Santa's official residence in Norway at Christmas

Santa is in residence here over the festive season, and occasionally out of season too: you can check the exact dates here . The Julehuset (Christmas House), a huge Christmas-themed store where it’s always Christmas, is open all year round.

And when you’ve had enough festive fun, Drøbak also has a small aquarium or you can take a ferry over to the Oscarborg Fortress .

Getting there : You can get to Drøbak in less than an hour from Oslo by car, bus or ferry. Drøbak Getting there : You can get to Drøbak in less than an hour from Oslo by car, bus or ferry.

Where to stay : Just five-minutes walk from the Julehuset, the Reenskaug Hotel has comfortable rooms in a historic building right by the Oslofjord.
