GEAR WE PLAY
As America, the perennial classic-rock favorite, hits the road in 2024, they're celebrating their 54th Anniversary with their powerful performances. America met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song "A Horse With No Name." America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single. Fifty plus years later, these friends are still making music, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound.
America's journey has found them exploring a wide variety of musical terrain. Their best-known tunes, which also include "I Need You," "Ventura Highway," "Don't Cross The River," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair" were cornerstones of 1970's Top 40 and FM rock radio. Yet beyond their impressive catalog of hits, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions. The combination of melodic pop rock and folk-jazz elements, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with other more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics.
America's albums--six certified gold and/or platinum, with their first greatest hits collection, History, hitting four plus million in sales--displayed a fuller range of the trio's talents than did their singles. Their material encompassed an ambitious artistic swath; from effects-laden rockers to oddball medleys to soul-bearing ballads, America displayed a flawless blend of disparate genres and styles as wide-open as the great American plains.
Enjoying massive success early in their career, America earned their stripes as musical soldiers on the battlefield amidst the excess, craziness and chaos of the 70's. The trio won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1972 and began working with George Martin and Geoff Emerick in 1974. This successful team went on to record seven albums and several Top Ten hits, including "Tin Man," "Sister Golden Hair" and "Lonely People."
By the mid-70s, inter-band conflicts combined with an exhaustive touring and recording schedule exacted its toll on the group. With Peek's departure from the fold in 1977, the band rose to the challenge and carried ono. Shifts in sound and direction, changes in producers and managers, and a renewed dedication to the craft of songwriting helped rocket America to the upper reaches of the pop charts in 1982 with their smash single, "You Can Do Magic." During this tumultuous time in their career, the band immersed themselves in their craft, infusing a newfound maturity into their rich body of work. Their growth as singers, songwriters and musicians has continued into the present day as illustrated by landmark releases such as 2000's Highway 3-disc box set, 2002's Holiday Harmony, an album comprised of seasonal classics and live showcases, 2007's Here & Now, 2009's Live In Concert: Wildwood Springs, 2011's Back Pages, and 2015's Lost And Found and America: Archives Vol. 1.
In 2020, the band released their ultimate 8-disc anniversary box set, Half Century (America Records), and streamed their concert special America--Live at the London Palladium for the very first time (it is commercially available as a DVD and CD). 2020 also saw the release of the book America, the Band, An Authorized Biography by journalist Jude Warne. She weaves original interviews with the band and many others into a dynamic cultural history of America, the band, and America, the nation. Billy Bob Thornton wrote the foreword.
From their formative years, America has been a band capable of transcending borders with its uplifting music and positive message. Embracing a rainbow of divergent cultures, America's audiences continue to grow, comprising a loyal legion of first, second and third generation fans, all bearing testament to the group's enduring appeal.

In 2023, you can finally hear “Sister Golden Hair,” “A Horse With No Name” and “Ventura Highway” and “Lonely People” live.
From Feb. 3 through Aug. 26, classic rock icons America will play 32 huge concerts all over, well, North America.
And if you’re in New Jersey, you’re in luck this year.
Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley’s America have five gigs lined up in the Garden State over the next few months.
First, the duo will perform back-to-back nights at Collingswood’s Scottish Rite Auditorium on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18 . From there, they’ll swing into New Brunswick’s State Theatre on March 3, Englewood’s Bergen Performing Arts Center on March 4 and finally Atlantic City’s Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort on June 10.
They’ll also be at Rochester, NY’s Kodak Center on March 11.
Not too shabby for a band that’s been together for 53 years and won the Grammy for Best New Artist way back in 1973.
However, if you follow America’s Instagram , it appears that the 70-year-old rockers haven’t lost a step at their live shows either.
They’re still rocking as hard as ever.
Plus, as a cherry on top of that, we’re happy to report that tickets are fairly inexpensive too.
At the time of publication, we wound some seats that were going for as low as $37 before fees on Vivid Seats.
All prices are subject to fluctuation.
Want to find the right show for you?
Keep reading â we’ve got everything you need to know about America’s upcoming tour below.
America 2023 tour dates
Bunnell, Beckley and the rest of America have big shows all winter, spring and summer .
Just a few of the biggest shows on their itinerary include dates in Canton (March 16), Honolulu (April 15), Kansas City (June 2), Milwaukee (July 12) and Detroit (July 14).
The fun comes to an end on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater .
A complete calendar including all America tour dates, venues, show start times and links to buy tickets can be found here .
America set list
Even the most casual America fan knows the band will play their aforementioned greatest hits.
What else is on the band’s 21-song set list though?
Setlist.fm reports that America often opens with “Tin Man” and plays original cuts like “Don’t Cross The River,” “Daisy Jane” and “Greenhouse” among many other classics.
It also appears that they mix in a few classic rock staples from The Beatles, The Mamas & the Papas and Russ Ballard as well.
For those that want to dig deeper, we recommend checking out the band’s exhaustive setlist.fm page which has records of what tracks America played live at shows dating back to their early days in London.
America band member background
Fun fact: 1/2 of America isn’t American born â singer and guitarist Dewey Bunnell was actually born in Yorkshire, England to an American serviceman father and his English wife.
As for Gerry Beckley, he was also born to an American father and English mother. The only difference is he originally hails from Forth Worth, TX.
Bunnell and Beckley ended up forming the band with fellow founding member Dan Peek â who passed away in 2011 â in the late 1960s when the three attended London Central High School in Bushey Hall in north west London.
Classic rockers on tour in 2023
Many 70s rock stars are now in their 70s and show no signs of slowing down.
In fact, dozens of the biggest names from the pre-disco era are still going strong and will perform at arenas and stadiums all year long.
Here are just five of our favorite acts you won’t want to miss when they come to a city near you.
âą Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
âą Billy Joel with Stevie Nicks

The biggest gigs and tours to look forward to in 2023
From reunited legends to rising stars, 2023âs live calendar is jam-packed with unmissable appointments
Times are tough right now, thereâs no denying that. But thereâs also no denying the healing power of music â especially going to witness your favourite artist or new obsession live. Luckily 2023 is already jam-packed with massive tours and big gigs to help brighten up our lives, whether thatâs Arctic Monkeys stepping up to stadiums, rapâs newest star GloRilla showing her mettle, or reunited legends like Blur and Pulp giving us some good old nostalgia. Here are the biggest gigs and tours to look forward to this year.
- Arctic Monkeys
Dates announced: Arctic Monkeys â 2023 dates start early, ringing in the New Year in Australia. From there, theyâll tour Asia and Europe, before coming home to the UK for a massive stadium tour and returning to the US.
Why you should go: To witness a live show as dazzling as the mirrorball the band performed around on their 2022 tour. Something tells us the grandiose strings of latest album âThe Carâ will sound absolutely majestic in the humongous venues the Monkeys will be playing over the next 12 months.
Dates announced: Elton John starts his year in Australia and New Zealand before returning to the UK and Europe for a Glasto finale .
Why you should go: These are quite literally your very last opportunities to see one of popâs most iconic and unique artists. Sure, loads of acts say theyâre quitting touring and then have a big change of heart a few years later, but you donât want to take the risk of missing out on Elton.
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Recommended
Dates announced: Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour New Zealand, Australia and Asia in the first two months of the year, moving on to North America in spring, and Europe and the UK in summer.
Why you should go: Theyâre pros at the big stadium spectacular â theyâve been doing it for long enough by now. Theyâre also bringing some huge names with them in support, from Post Malone to The Strokes and Iggy Pop . Not bad!
- Harry Styles
Dates announced: After three rescheduled LA dates in January, Harry Styles will head to Australia in February, continuing on to Asia and Europe, arriving in the UK in May.
Why you should go: The âLove On Tourâ tour might seem never-ending, but even if youâve been multiple times, itâs still a whole lot of fun to go again. Enjoy the conga lines to âTreat People With Kindnessâ and make friends with your seatmates as you bellow out Harryâs modern pop anthems together. Sounds lovely.
Dates announced: The iconic British girl group will head down under in February before playing a one-off London date in September.
Why you should go: These dates are a continuation of the original Sugababes line-upâs reunion â Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donagh â and will see the women celebrating the 25th anniversary of the group. Theyâve been through a lot of ups and downs in that time, but this feels like a perfect way to mark the milestone.
Dates announced: US tour begins January 27.
Why you should go: GloRilla is the hottest new hip-hop talent in the game and itâs not going to be long before sheâs filling massive venues around the world. Get down to this tour and say you saw her first â and enjoy her mix of femininity and boldness in her infectious songs.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Dates announced: US leg begins February 1; the tour arrives in Europe on April 28, with UK dates from May 30.
Why you should go: Thereâs been some (deserved) uproar about very expensive tickets, but if you can find a pass at a reasonable price, Springsteen will certainly give you value for money â his gigs are known to stretch for hours, rattling through the big hits and the fan favourites far longer than most acts would perform for.
Dates announced: US leg runs from February to August, with UK dates nestled in the middle in April.
Why you should go: To hear the brilliant new songs from upcoming album âThis Is Whyâ among all the best cuts from their back catalogue. Plus, itâs been way too long since Hayley Williams and co went on a proper tour â five years, in fact.
- Caroline Polachek
Dates announced: The UK, Europe and North America are all on Caroline Polachek âs schedule, beginning in the former in February.
Why you should go: The alt-pop starâs live shows have been described as a work of art and she always packs surprises into her sets â like at her last London gig, when she was joined by Croydonâs Trinity Girls Choir on âBillionsâ.
Self EsteemÂ
Dates announced: UK tour kicks off in February.
Why you should go: This tour feels like a victory lap for Self Esteem , who arguably has had the best last couple of years out of all of us. Her album âPrioritise Pleasureâ has constantly wowed fans and critics alike, while her live show has been praised as one of the best in recent memory. Give yourself another chance to see why itâs so brilliant before she inevitably pops off to come up with her next mind-blowing record.
Dates announced: US tour kicks off February 21.
Why you should go: Because SZA âs new album âSOSâ is a very late contender for Album Of The Year and, had it been released earlier, would certainly have been nearing the top of a lot of lists. If you need any more incentive (you shouldnât), sheâs also bringing along Omar Apollo in support to add some extra greatness.
Dates announced: The Doncaster rockânâroller will head out on a world tour, beginning in the UK in February before hitting Europe and North America.
Why you should go: Yungblud âs gigs are renowned for being inclusive, euphoric and theatrical celebrations where you can let go, be yourself and find a community of kindred spirits. We could all do with a bit more of that energy in 2023 so get down to a show and make the most of it.
Dates announced: Europe tour begins February, with UK dates from March before continuing onto North America.
Why you should go: Lizzo shows are the ultimate upper â a feel good celebration of life from one of the most infectious personalities in music. Grab your mates and make sure you get there in time for âbad bitch oâclockâ.
Dates announced: The ladies of BLACKPINK will take their BORN PINK tour across Asia, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand in the first half of the year, before heading to London in July to headline BST Hyde Park.
Why you should go: This K-pop girl group know how to put on a show , from hi-tech, futuristic VTs to set the mood between each phase of the concert, to artful and flashy stage production. The songs are equally as good â by the time you leave the venue, youâll have several jostling for place as that dayâs earworm.
Dates announced: Blink âs return begins in South America on March 11, before heading to North America in May and the UK and Europe in September.
Why you should go: Itâs the pop-punk iconsâ first tour with Tom DeLonge since he left the band in 2015 â aka a massive deal. Thereâs also a new album on the way, so this wonât just be a big nostalgia trip.
- Taylor Swift
Dates announced: US leg begins March 17; international dates TBA.
Why you should go: Taylor Swift âs 2023 tour is dubbed âThe Eras Tourâ and, while itâs not entirely clear exactly how sheâs going to honour each of her past albums yet, itâs guaranteed to be the perfect chance to celebrate the many highs of her brilliant career so far (if you can beat Ticketmaster). Plus, the support bill in the US is stacked, with Paramore , Phoebe Bridgers , Gracie Abrams , Haim , Girl In Red , and many more along for the ride.
The WalkmenÂ
Dates announced: US tour begins April 24; one further festival date confirmed so far at Portugalâs Paredes de Coura Festival.
Why you should go: Sure, New York in the early noughties had The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Interpol , but it also had The Walkmen , a band who often get left out of top billing when talking about that much-romanticised scene. Take one listen to the indie disco classic âThe Ratâ and tell us thatâs fair, and then go book your tickets to their reunion tour.
Dates announced: The tour begins in Europe in April, heading to the UK for two sets at Download Festival in June, before moving onto North America.
Why you should go: As if you need a reason to go and see Metallica , the titans of metal. But just in case: theyâre masters of their craft â aka big, bruising, headbang-worthy riffs â and have a discography of seemingly endless anthems for you to get lost in the moshpit to.
Dates announced: The Italian rockers will tour Europe across spring with a massive London gig at The O2 in May.
Why you should go: In this day and age, itâs rare for Eurovision contestants to carve out careers post-Song Contest that arenât short-lived or derided as novelty. But MĂ„neskin are living proof that it is doable, so long as you have the tunes and the charisma to deserve more than 15 minutes of fame. The four-piece have both in bucketloads, as you can bear witness to on this tour.
Dates announced: An intimate UK tour in May.
Why you should go: Foals are now one of the biggest bands in the UK and so the opportunity to see them in tiny venues is a rare chance we must grab when itâs presented to us. Dance to âMy Numberâ on the sticky floor of a club in spring, then celebrate their ascent as they headline Reading & Leeds in the summer.
Dates announced: The UK and Ireland-only dates begin in May, continuing til July.
Why you should go: Theyâre back, baby! Just under a decade since their last live performances, Pulp have reunited once more and are taking their show back on the road to liven up our summer. Expect all the classics, but no Steve Mackey â the bassist has confirmed he wonât join the band on tour.
Dates announced: Select European festival dates woven between three headline shows in Dublin and London this June.
Why you should go: When Blur first reunited in 2009, they instantly blew away any fears that the band might not be the same after years apart. This latest reunion should be no different and the members seem in good spirits about it, too. âWe really love playing these songs and thought itâs about time we did it again,â Damon Albarn said when the gigs were announced.
Moldy PeachesÂ
Dates announced: One London show and appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Madrid
Why you should go: Itâs been 20 years since anti-folk icons The Moldy Peaches last performed in Europe. Although they announced their reunion with the slogan âOnce a Moldy Peach, always a Moldy Peachâ, who knows when this opportunity to see New York underground royalty will come around again?
Joni MitchellÂ
Dates announced: George, WA, Gorge Amphitheatre (June 10).
Why you should go: Joni Mitchell might be playing only one date next year but you should move heaven and earth to try and make it. Why? The last time she held a full concert was 23 years ago and itâs unlikely sheâs about to hit the road for even a handful more dates at this point, so it could be your only chance to see the bonafide legend live.
Pet Shop BoysÂ
Dates announced: The UK and European tour runs from June to July.
Why you should go: This is Pet Shop Boys â âDreamworld â The Greatest Hits Liveâ tour so youâre basically assured that youâre going to hear all of the biggest and best songs in their inimitable arsenal.
Dates announced: London, Finsbury Park (June 23)
Why you should go: Itâs Jamie T âs biggest headline show to date and bound to be an absolute riot. This is an artist who can do indie disco bangers, poignant, softer (if booze-soaked) cuts, and everything in between and make it seem effortless.
The WeekndÂ
Dates announced: UK and Europe tour begins in June before covering Latin America.
Why you should go: This huge stadium tour will cover both of The Weeknd âs two latest albums â âAfter Hoursâ and âDawn FMâ â taking you inside the sci-fi-tinged world of both masterpieces.
Dates announced: Stormzy will take over one day of Londonâs All Points East, curating a special âThis Is What We Mean Dayâ.
Why you should go: The whole day will be Stormzyâs vision â something heâs already proved countless times is a great thing. The line-up has yet to be announced but expect to discover exhilarating new talent, big names making surprise appearances and, of course, it all to be topped off by a headline set from Big Mike himself.
The Postal Service & Death Cab For Cutie
Dates announced: US tour kicks off September 8
Why you should go: Ben Gibbard is pulling double duty on the tour, fronting both The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie . The tour itself is a celebration of two albums â the formerâs âGive Upâ and the latterâs âTransatlanticismâ, and youâll get to see both played in full. What more could you ask for?

AMERICA ROLLS OUT INITIAL 2023 TOUR DATES
Getty Images
America has rolled out its initial 2023 tour dates. The band, led by co-founders Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell , kicks things off on January 12th in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania at the Luhrs Center and has shows booked through August 19th when they hit Lowell, Massachusetts' Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
America is known for playing a high-octane hit-filled show, and Gerry Beckley told us that they've never underestimated the importance of America's core fanbase: “We have the most loyal fans; I think you'll find that across the board, no matter who you tap in to, if you go to a lot of these classic acts — I mean, we have people come 20, 30 times a year. There isn't millions of them, but there's enough to fill 100 shows a year. We go all over the planet.”
We asked Dewey Bunnell if after all these years working with Gerry Beckley he ever thinks of it almost like a marriage: “People say that, of course, yeah, and Gerry and I have had a few marriages that didn't last as long, but nevertheless, we've worked together since we were teenagers — y'know, we really went to high school together. Then, once we got established, made the first albums, had some success, moved to California — then you set up your own lives a little. You know where the areas are in your lives that you want to keep private and you know where you can blend your work with your lives.”

Pulp live are an experience worth having. I saw them at the Brixton Academy in 2011. Jarvis Cocker is a modern miracle. He danced across the stage, strutting, high kicking and leaping, like a herky-jerky marionette animated by the audience, by the music and by his immeasurable ego.
The band brought out many favourites from their huge catalogue, energising the crowd and persuading them to sing and dance along with passion. This was one of those occasions where the music genuinely rejuvenated - we were, audience and band alike, flung back into the 90s of our youth. We danced, we sang, we screamed at the sky. Jarvis, for that moment, was our tinpot god and we worshipped him like false idols were going out of fashion.
Pulp's music live is a little faster, a little more energetic than on record. The crowd lifts the band and urges on the tempo. They bite into tunes like Disco 2000 - a personal favourite - Wickerman, Lipgloss and Common People and elevate them to something hardcore, passionate and occasionally terrifying. These are the great heroes of Britpop, you deserve to feel them live.

Top 10 Highest-Grossing Rock Tours of 2023
Check out our recap of Billboard Boxscore's top 10 rock tours of the year, featuring blink-182, Metallica, and more.

Last week, Billboard revealed its year-end Boxscore charts , ranking the top tours, venues, and promoters of 2023. That coverage included analysis of the new wave of genre diverse artists crashing stadium stages, and in turn, our charts. This week, we are breaking down the yearâs biggest tours, genre by genre . Today, we continue with rock.
Rock music has been at the center of the touring industry for decades, with legendary acts like The Rolling Stones , U2 , and the Eagles controlling stadium calendars and delivering record-breaking grosses. That is still the case, as rock is responsible for more entries in the all-genre top 10, 20, 40 and 100 than any other genre.
But at 32.4% of all top 100 toursâ grosses, rock takes a dramatic hit from last yearâs 42.5% figure. Combined with pop, the two central genres have lost a third of their total market share since the pandemic, as pockets of Latin and K-pop acts take up prime Boxscore real estate. And as rock accounts for many of the oldest artists in the top 100, with Latin and K-pop bringing up the chartâs youngest names, the future of rock bands as touring titans is blurrier than it was 5-10 years ago.
But with a new round of legacy tours from â90s and â00s bands, plus steady arena grosses from 21st century acts like Arctic Monkeys, Greta Van Fleet and Imagine Dragons, there is still plenty of juice for the coming years.
Scroll to check out the top 10 highest-grossing tours by rock artists, with such acts qualifying due to recent performance on Billboard âs Top Rock Albums and/or Hot Rock Songs charts. Rankings are determined according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. All reported shows worldwide between Nov. 1, 2022 â Sept. 30, 2023 are eligible.
$76.8M / 597K tickets / 41 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 24
Phish is among the most consistent touring acts, regardless of genre. From its annual destination event in Mexico to its reliable runs of shows at Madison Square Garden, the jam-band legends continue to one-up themselves, after winding up at No. 31 on last yearâs all-genre ranking.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
$77.2M / 657K tickets / 18 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 23
Red Hot Chili Peppers repeat in the year-end rock breakdown with shows in Asia, Europe and North America. Still, the bandâs $77.2 million total doesnât include the $48.2 million from its co-headline shows with Post Malone in Australia.
$92.7M / 1M tickets / 45 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 20
Muse makes its first appearance among the year-end top 10 rock tours since 2013, when the glam-rock band earned $43.2 million while on The 2nd Law World Tour. The European leg did the heaviest lifting, with nine of the top 10 grosses of the year.
$95.7M / 692K tickets / 45 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 19
Blink is back with the biggest tour of its career. The original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker reunited for 45 sold-out shows in North America and Europe. Things came to a head with two nights at Los Angelesâ BMO Stadium, where blink-182 grossed $8.8 million and sold 43,600 tickets.
Guns N' Roses
$96.2M / 888K tickets / 31 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 18
Guns Nâ Roses logs a second year between $90-100 million after being No. 8 on 2022âs genre Boxscore breakout. More shows after the tracking periodâs cutoff puts the rock icons on tap for the â24 ranking with $19.7 million already in the bank.
Dead & Company
$114.7M / 845K tickets / 28 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 15
Dead & Company played its farewell tour between May 19 and July 16, yielding its first $100 million summer since launching as a touring unit in 2015. The peak was a three-night run at San Franciscoâs Oracle Park to end the tour, earning $20.4 million from 118,000 tickets sold.
$125.8M / 1.2M tickets / 19 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 14
Metallica grossed more than $10 million in seven markets between Europe and North America, doubling up in Montreal, Paris and more. The M72 World Tour continues with scheduled dates through Sept. 29, 2024.
Depeche Mode
$175.2M / 1.8M tickets / 47 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: No. 9
The first of three rock acts in the all-genre top 10, Depeche Mode scores the biggest year of its touring career, blowing past 2017âs $123.5 million. Three shows at Mexico Cityâs Foro Sol on Sept. 21, 23 and 25 delivered the bandâs biggest gross ever, at $15.4 million from 195,000 tickets sold.
$210M / 1.3M tickets / 65 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: No. 7
Elton John notches a fifth year on the year-end Boxscore recap with the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, having topped the abridged 2020 report. After all was said and done, set a new record as the highest-grossing tour in Boxscore history, regardless of genre. Over 329 shows, the trek earned $939.1 million and sold six million tickets.
$342.5M / 3.2M tickets / 55 shows
All-Genre Top 100 Rank: No. 2
Switching places with John from last year, Coldplay takes top honors as the highest-grossing rock act of 2023. The bandâs spread covers shows in North and South America, as well as Europe, with dates in Asia and Australia in the 2024 tracking window. After kicking off in 2022, the Music of the Spheres Tour has brought in $664.5 million and sold 6.7 million tickets.

Legendary rock band The Who have announced a UK tour which will see the band performing with a full orchestra each night with shows from 6th to 23rd July in Hull, Edinburgh, London, Derby, Badminton, Durham, St Helens and Brighton. Joining them will be UB40 featuring Ali Campbell across all regional shows except for The O2 London and Edinburgh Castle dates.
Pete Townshend , Roger Daltrey and band will be performing music from throughout the bandâs nearly 60-year career, including sections devoted to classic albums Tommy and Quadrophenia as well as other beloved Who tracks and songs from their 2019 WHO album, their first studio release in 13 years.
The 2023 UK shows include Edinburgh Castle, the bandâs first show in the Scottish capital in over 40 years as well as shows in Derby, their first since 1966, The O2 London, Durham and Brighton Cricket grounds. The gigs follow last yearâs highly acclaimed The Who Hits Back! tour of the US, where the band shared the with some of the finest orchestras in America.
The 2023 UK tour will feature The Who âs full live band comprised of guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend , keyboardist Loren Gold , second keyboardist Emily Marshall , bassist Jon Butto n, drummer Zak Starkey and backing vocals by Billy Nicholls , along with orchestra conductor Keith Levenson , lead violinist Katie Jacoby and lead cellist Audrey Snyder .
The Who wound up their The Who Hits Back! tour of the US in November last year having wowed audiences in over thirty cities, with media and fans agreeing that the band were as good as, if not better than ever and that the orchestral arrangements, most of which were done by the legendary David Campbell , brought a new depth and excitement to Pete Townshendâs music.
Performing with The Who and an orchestra had been a long-held ambition for singer Roger Daltrey âHaving not toured the UK for six years, it’s great that at this time of our careers we have the chance to go to places that are not on the usual touring map Edinburgh Castle and Derby, as well as the other cities across the country that we havenât been to for decades, will make this very special for me. This opportunity will give our UK Who fans the chance to hear our current show, which, with the addition of an orchestra, takes our music to new heights.â
Pete Townshend âRoger initially christened this tour with an orchestra Moving On! I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. Iâm really looking forward to bringing this show to the UK.”
The Who are calling upon fans to add an optional ÂŁ1 donation onto their ticket price at point of sale in support of Teenage Cancer Trust . Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are longstanding supporters and Roger has been the driving force behind Teenage Cancer Trustâs Royal Albert Hall concerts since they began in 2000. For more information visit www.teenagecancertrust.org
For more information about The Who 2023 dates, visit www.robomagiclive.com or www.thewho.com
In July 2019, The Who headlined Wembley Stadium in London for the first time in forty years. The show was the only UK date on their Moving On! Tour and featured the band accompanied by an over 50-piece orchestra performing classic tracks and more as well tracks from their WHO album. The Who With Orchestra Live At Wembley will be released as a limited edition yellow, orange and red 3-LP set, triple black vinyl, 2-CD / Blu-Ray set which features the audio remixed in Dolby Atmos/5.1 mixes and a 1-CD edition.

Ok, Great news about the Tour but looking at the Live Album 2 points.
1/ The Album miss’s out the whole Tommy Section at the beginning….why oh why release an incomplete set.
2/ I was at the show and Im pretty sure Tea and Theatre was not played. The show finished with Baba O’ Riley. (I have just also confirmed this ny looking at Setlist fm)
Will fan club members be able to obtain tickets close to the stage for Edinburgh during pre-sale or am I best waiting until Friday for general sale? In other words will sections 2, 3, 14, 15, 31 & 32 be included in pre-sale. Thanks.
You just can’t keep a good, no, scratch that…Keep a Great Band down..The Who still sets the bar high after all these years…Just Amazing !! Will definetly have to add thier new live to my collection of every other Who Album I have…Rodger, Pete,”John and Keith”, Thanks for all the great Music…Long Live Rock…
Will there be an Irish date? Had tickets for Dublin in March 2020 and been looking forward to it being rescheduled since.
The 2020 tour was cancelled and tickets were refunded.
How much will Hull tickets be?
You stated the cut-off to join the fan club to be eligible for early pre-sale tickets is midnight GMT 31st January. Can you clarify if this means the end of Monday (i.e 11:59pm on Monday 30th January) or end of Tuesday (i.e.11:59pm on Tuesday 31st January) Thanks
11.59pm Tuesday 31 January.
Are there any plans to come to Ireland?
Will there be an Irish date? Been looking forward to the cancelled March 2020 Dublin show ever since.
The Who are my all-time favorite band… Townshend, Daltrey, Ox and Moon are unequaled… Bring on another chapter!
The best rock+ orchestra published concert to date I feel is Collective Soul + Atlanta Youth… Daltrey Plays Townshend a close second… c’mon boys blow ’em out of the proverbial water! đ
I have two tickets for Edinburgh 8th, so looking forward to being in an iconic venue as in Edinburgh Castle and with an iconic band, but my wife needs to know why UB40 especially Ali Campbell are missing from the Edinburgh Gigs ? Please help sheâs threatening to not go Lol.
Great news on the forthcoming tour and new album release. Had tickets for the original Birmingham Show but alas not rescheduled Might there be a midlands show announced?
I read that if I join the fan club this month that I would be entered into a lottery.
If I win, Roger and Pete will come over to my house and perform deep cuts from “Face Dances” and “Endless Wire” in the garden.
If that’s true, I would indeed like to sign up. Please tell me whether the rumour is accurate.
Have you any plans to play in Ireland.
No current plans for appearing in Ireland on this tour.
Who (no pun intended) is the support at the o2 and how long roughly will the gig last?
Any concert dates for the U.S. Tour? The Who is on my Bucket list đ
Can’t find the link for my Derby tickets 2023… Help

Just a Few of the Biggest Concert Tours of 2024, from Olivia Rodrigo to Bad Bunny
Posted: April 14, 2024 | Last updated: April 14, 2024
Listening to your favorite musician at home is fun, but there's nothing quite like the experience of singing along with them, and tons of more fans, live. And as luck would have it, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for some of the world's top musical acts, so chances are your favorite performer might be stopping at a city near you soon.
Ahead, we rounded up some of the biggest concert tours of 2024, ranging from Taylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour to Drake and J. Cole's exciting It's All A Blur Tour - Big as the What?âset to kick off this winter. You can also expect tour dates from classic icons like Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and more.
1) Taylor Swift
Undoubtedly one of the biggest concert tours ever, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will continue right through 2024. The international leg of the tour kicked off in Japan, where she played four shows in Tokyo. She'll also stop in Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, London, Milan, and more before returning to the States to play in the fall.
There's nothing like seeing T. Swift IRL, but don't fret if you're unable to nab ticketsâthe Eras Tour movie is now available to stream from the comfort of your home.
2) Olivia Rodrigo
This is not a drillâ"Drivers License" singer Olivia Rodrigo will be hitting the road on tour starting at the end of February. The Guts World Tour runs from February through mid-August and has dates in Nashville, Toronto, Chicago, and New York City, among others. Even cooler? Rodrigo will have a stacked list of special guestsâlike PinkPantheress, Remi Wolf, The Breeders, and Chappell Roanâwith her.
3) Red Hot Chili Peppers
Did you hear the good news? The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their global tour through summer 2024. The buzzy stadium tour, which kicked off in June 2022, will now run until July 2024 and bring the California-based band to places like Los Angeles, Tampa, Toronto, and Salt Lake City.
4) Bad Bunny
It's fitting that "Monaco" rapper Bad Bunny titled his tour Most Wanted âit's slated to be one of the year's hottest tours. Planned to help promote his latest studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Most Wanted will kick off in Salt Lake City on February 21 and run through May 26.
5) Billy Joel

A fractured larynx and vocal cord damage are no joke for a hard-rock singer to recover from. Especially a 76-year-old frontman with a still-big voice, like Steven Tyler .
Nearly a year after Aerosmith put the brakes on a long-gestating farewell tour just a few shows in after Tyler injured his voice during a Sept. 9, 2023 show at a New York arena, the bandâs about to be, ahem, back in the saddle.
The âPeace Out Tourâ will resume September 20 in Pittsburgh. The 40-date arena tour runs through February 26 in Buffalo and includes a New Yearâs Eve show in the bandâs hometown of Boston. Complete list of tour dates at aerosmith.com .
Aerosmithâs decades of hits include âDream On,â âWalk This Way,â âSweet Emotion,â âBack in the Saddle,â âJanieâs Got A Gun,â âCrazyâ and âI Donât Want To Miss A Thing.â
The band features Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton.
Unlike many classic rock groups, Aerosmithâs original lineup remained intact through most of their history. However in recent years, original drummer Joey Kramer has been replaced onstage by John Douglas, Kramerâs former drum tech. Buck Johnson , an Alabama native who also tours with Brother Cane and Hollywood Vampires, is Aerosmithâs touring keyboardist/backing vocalist .
Blues-rockers The Black Crowes , known for â90s hits like âJealous Againâ and âRemedy,â are the support act for all dates of Aerosmithâs âPeace Out Tour.â
The Black Crowes previously opened for Aerosmith on the Crowesâ first-ever big tour, back in 1990. Led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson , on vocals and guitar, respectively, Black Crowes recently released âHappiness Bastards,â their first album of all-original songs in 15 years .
Aerosmithâs classic albums include their 1973 self-titled debut, 1975âČs âToys in the Attic,â 1976 release âRocks,â 1987 comeback LP âPermanent Vacationâ and â93 mega-seller âGet a Grip.â Aerosmithâs most recent album was âMusic from Another Dimensionâ from 2012.
