Arundel Historic Tours Now incorporating Talks and ‘On Tour’ bringing Arundel alive Wherever you are.

Martin  and  Gwenn  Alderton locals  from  Arundel  have developed  a   fascinating  tour  of historic  Arundel.  People  living  locally  as  well  as  Tourists,  Language  Schools,  coach  parties  and  day  trippers have  been  introduced  to  the  intriguing  insight into the Roman and Victorian  through  to anecdotal  facts  and   changes  throughout  the  town.

During  the  walk  they  make reference  to  photo  books showing  the  town  100  years ago,  the  changes,  the  changing face  and  the  unusual. The  pictures  are  fascinating in  themselves but  being  on  the  tour  and  seeing  the  places  now  and  how  they  were  and the  history  or  story  behind them,  sometimes bizarre, makes the  tour  a  must  for  history  lovers  and  for  people  intrigued by  local  knowledge.

For  coach  parties  to  small groups  they  have  devised  an illustrated talk,  if  walking  is  difficult  or time  is  short  they  take  groups to  the  town  square  and  relate all  our  knowledge  and  display the  pictures  they  have.

Arundel  Historical  Tours and Talks  are  educational  to,  so  they  are looking  to  use  their knowledge and  pictorial  history  to  do  presentations  at  local  schools and  colleges.  The Arundel Walking  Tours  ‘On  Tour’  is being developed  to  take  to  those who  are  unable  to  get  to   Arundel  or  just  unable  to  do the  tour  for  whatever  reason. They  are  looking  to  present  to care  homes, family gatherings,  WI's,  rehabilitation centres,  retirement  clubs and  the  like.

Martin and Karen locals from Arundel have developed a fascinating tour of historic Arundel. People living locally as well as Tourists, Language Schools, coach parties and day trippers have been introduced to the intriguing insight into the Roman and Victorian through to anecdotal facts and changes throughout the town. Printed paper voucher required Arundel, Castle town, Cathedral Town and the town with one Church that has two denominations. That's the headlines but it doesn’t scratch the surface of the history, architecture, businesses and attractions that fill the town. A Tour is the best way to learn and see why the town is here and is unique in many ways.

Arundel has had a Castle since 1067 it is said although there has been some kind of fortress there, probably Saxon, for much longer. The history of the Castle and the Dukes are baffling, and so I suggest a visit to get acquainted with both. Outside the Castle are the delights of the town for you to explore, enjoy the hospitality, the feel of the small arcades, the galleries and antique shops. Explore the variety of cafes and restaurants, check out the take home gift shops or just sit beside the river. A visit to the Cathedral is a must, although it was only built in 1868 and not a Cathedral until 1964, its Gothic design and impressive Rose stain glass window is a sight to see, and the acoustics inside, if your lucky to hear the organ playing, is awesome. So, Arundel, why so special, it’s hard to say precisely, ambling along Tarrant Street, the towns array of different architectural styles, the coffee shops and pubs, the lovely independent shops. The events across the year from Corpus Christie, Farmers Markets to Festival and Christmas, the walks, the river bank, the lake, the park, so much to see and do at a leisurely pace.

2024 Tulip Festival Now On
