Cider Review: Aspall, Dry English Cider

Aspall, Dry English Hard Cider

Aspall is one of the larger cider producers in England and therefore widely distributed. This means it is fairly easy to find outside of the UK.

Cider Name:  Dry English Cider

Cider Maker:  Aspall

Style:  English

Origin:  Suffolk, England

Serving Vessel:  Long neck bottle

Appearance:  Light Straw

Taste/Aroma: Minerals, Light Floral (perfume-like), Light Fruity Esters, Light Earthy/Musty. Very little aroma.

Acid:  Low to Moderate

Tannin:  Soft tannin

Sugar:  Dry

Carbonation:  Low-Moderate

Opinion:

Mark – I love dry cider so I definitely enjoyed this one. To me it tasted mostly of minerals/vitamins with a light fruity estery finish.  I feel like this is a very clean, and mild approach to English style ciders. Probably because it is mass produced they have to stick to certain techniques and blends of largely available apples. Overall much better dry cider than most large US producers put out.

Erin – This was my favorite dry cider thus far; because it was actually dry! It had a punchy apple flavor, and also had a bit of woodsy flavor which I loved. It had enough carbonation to feel like a celebratory treat, and a perfect introduction into classic English cider!
