Do Some Concert Homework: Listen To Olivia Rodrigo’s Song List Before The Kids Go

Olivia Rodrigo has two albums of great songs, and who knows, she might sing them all at the concert!

We think listening to the setlist is key to preparing your kids for what they’ll hear live.

Parents Guide To Olivia Rodrigo Concert: Does She Swear In Her Songs?

She’s no longer on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!

While she may have started as a Disney star, she’s left that behind.

High School Musical the musical the series day 1 disney plus Nini in red dress auditioning

Her songs (so far) have delved into relationships, breakups, hardships, and the occasional swear word, including the F-bomb.

Olivia Rodrigo does indeed cuss in some songs while talking to the audience from the stage. She’s been political at concerts as well. She openly supports women’s reproductive rights.

The crowd of adults around you at the concert may also sing along loudly. So keep that in mind.

A casual radio listener may be surprised at a few explicit lyrics including sexual references, so listen to the songs on the set list to be prepared for what’s to come.

Check out this list of Olivia Rodrigo lyrics and quotes before you head to the concert.

Any Other Concerns For Kids At The Olivia Rodrigo Concerts?

We’ve seen suggestive dancing and some hip thrusts. Remember that she’s 21 years old and an adult and acts/sings as such.

There are some suggestive moments throughout the show.

Arrive Early To The Olivia Rodrigo Concert: Guts World Tour (2024)

Check your stadium for opening hours and be prepared to spend some time on your feet waiting for the concert.

Parents Guide To Olivia Rodrigo: What To Bring To The Guts World Tour (2024)

Since you’ll be there for a long time- and maybe even longer in the parking lot afterward!- go ahead and use this list to prep what to take to the concert.

Bring and Trade Friendship Bracelets: Parents Guide to One Night At A Time Concert

Are people trading friendship bracelets at the Olivia Rodrigo concerts? We expect they will be.

Fans make bracelets and trade them to create and foster community before the shows.

The friendship bracelet thing all started ( re-started- us olds know they’ve been around for a long time! ) with Taylor’s concerts, and we’ve seen it continue with Pink, the JoBros, and Morgan Wallen.

It’s highly likely this trend will keep going on through the concert season next summer.

Most of these trades happen in the parking lot before the show starts, but we’ve seen many people trading with fellow fans in their seat sections.

before you go tour merch

Some create bracelets with full song lyrics, and some create them with the songs or album titles. Some of them are even more creative and niche- we’ve seen some wild ones!

But this is a friendly community activity that will help your kiddo feel connected to other fans at the concert.

Don’t be afraid to ask to trade with others or to gift a bracelet to someone!

To avoid any issue with security and trying to bring in a bag of bracelets, go ahead and plan to wear them when you walk in. After that, walking up and exchanging with a fellow fan will be a simple process!

You can  buy a friendship bracelet-making kit  here.

Stadium Bag Policies

Each location will have a different bag policy. Some require TOTALLY clear bags only (NFL stadiums).

So check with your location before assuming your normal purse will work.

Size matters!

Ensure you measure your bag before you attempt to bring it in, as some stadiums will refuse entry to larger bags.

List of Things To Bring to The Olivia Rodrigo Concert: Guts World Tour (2024)

  • portable battery for your phone  (plus phone cord!) Maybe consider multiple chargers depending on how long you’ll be at the stadium
  • empty water bottle (can fill inside the stadium)
  • completely clear bag  if an NFL Stadium (12 x 6 x 12 is usually the largest size allowed)
  • snacks for the car after the concert. You’ll be waiting for up to 3 hours in the parking lot, so be prepared with some post-Beyonce snacks.
  • poncho or rain gear
  • Concert Earplugs . We’ve seen a lot of younger kids really miserable because the concert is just too loud for them. Consider bringing earplugs along, just in case.
  • sunglasses for outdoor concerts
  • hand sanitizer (always!)
  • Something to do while waiting for the concert to start that’s NOT your phone. Cards or a book might help pass the time and save that phone battery.

Items Not Allowed At The Olivia Rodrigo Concert (2024)

  • camera bags
  • diaper bags
  • seat cushions (unless medically necessary)

Parents Guide To Olivia Rodrigo: Pack Snacks In The Car For Post-Concert

The best tip we’ve seen for this guide to Olivia Rodrigo Concerts (2024) is to pack your patience after the tour and a snack bag for the parking lot waiting.

There have been reports of sitting in traffic for 1-3 hours post-concerts to leave the parking lot. If that happens to you, you’ll appreciate planning with a small cooler of snacks for the wait.

What To Wear To Olivia Rodrigo Guts World Tour: Comfortable Shoes

Plenty of concertgoers wear jeans and tees for the Olivia Rodrigo Concert.

But… with the whole Taylor Swift and Beyonce dress-to-impress phenomenon, we’ve seen quite a few pictures and videos on TikTok where ladies are dressing up! We expect Olivia’s fans to go all out as well.

So go ahead and dress up with your kids and have fun feeling young!

Think of this as an event, and not just a musical concert. And go all out.

Our number one suggestion is to dress in something you are comfortable wearing for a long time. Because you will be at this experience for at least 3 hours, but it is potentially an all-day event.

But make sure whatever you do, you wear comfortable shoes to the concert.

We cannot stress enough how much you will be on your feet when they go on stage and you will wish you left those high heels or unbroken boots at home!

So comfortable shoes are a MUST.

We know, we know, the cute cowboy boots with the heel are tempting. Make sure your boots are NOT new and that they don’t have too much of a heel.

If you don’t, you and your kiddo may regret that choice by the night’s end!

Make A Plan To Get Ready Before The Show: Parents Guide To The Guts Tour

Your hotel room may not be ready, but you’ll want to get dressed for the show.

What’s a young Olivia Rodrigo fan to do?

First, check with your hotel. Many are opening ballrooms or conference rooms for pre-concert prep if the rooms are unavailable.

We’ve seen lobbies full of concertgoers getting their glam on- so you will not be alone if that’s what you have to do.

But you might also want to plan on arriving a day earlier OR even consider what you can do in the car. This may include bringing portable car chargers for your straighteners or curling wands.

Merchandise Purchases

Merch is a VERY big deal for The Guts World Tour.

If your child is interested in the most popular items, you’ll want to arrive early. Like stupid early.

As early as the parking lot opens early so you can get in line right away.

Items DO sell out, and the lines will get long.

before you go tour merch

The Olivia Rodrigo Concert (2024) Merchandise Tip: Once Inside the Stadium, GO UP.

Most people will stop at the first merch tent, truck, or line they see.

The smartest concertgoers will have read this Olivia Rodrigo Tour guide and know that more merch is being sold on the higher concourses.

Go ahead and take that elevator early and head to a higher floor. There usually are more merchandise options up there- and most have ZERO lines.

You can also pop out during a song to hit the merchandise lines- a great plan for parents who feel comfortable leaving their older teens alone for a bit.

Loud Noises And Explosion Warning: Fireworks and Flashing Lights At The Guts World Tour.

For sensitive kiddos, please be aware that there may be pyrotechnic moments and loud noises during the concert.

We put earplugs on the list of things to take for a reason!- HUGE thing to take away from this parents guide to the Olivia Rodrigo concert.

Stand For As Much Of The Olivia Rodrigo Guts World Tour As Possible: Parents Take Note!

The crowd will stand for the entire concert. These fans are PASSIONATE about Rodrigo and won’t miss a second of this gal on stage.

If you have a shorter child going with you, be prepared for them to be blocked or need to be held to see the stage or screens.

Olivia Rodrigo fans will not sit for the performance (at least not for most of it). You might make out a bit better if you have an aisle seat, but those in the middle of the row could be blocked from the view.

Remember when we said to dress comfortably? This is why.

When Can You Pee During Olivia Rodrigo Concerts: Parents Guide To The Guts World Tour

This might be the most important part of the guide to the Olivia Rodrigo Concert.

The concert is about 95 minutes long, so you might be able to hang in there until the end! There is not an intermission in this show.

Likely, you’ll have to pick a song and sacrifice it for the potty run.

We think it’s hard to decide which song is best to leave for, so check out the setlist and pick one you feel you can miss!

Parents Guide To Olivia Rodrigo Concert (2024) Final Tips

Is an Olivia Rodrigo concert appropriate for kids?

She does get a bit spicy on stage and is happy to cuss and talk politics.

If you are not comfortable letting your youngest fans hear that, you may not want to allow them a seat at The Guts World Tour.

But can your kids handle one of his concerts?

For the most part, we’d say yes, kids ages 13 and up could attend an Olivia Rodrigo concert. If you bring younger kids, bring ear protection and prep them for lines, standing, and loud noises.

Also, be aware that big concerts like this are getting a reputation for drunken behavior from the crowd. That could be a reason for some younger kids to wait a few more years.

Pack your patience, and leave the negativity at home.

The Olivia Rodrigo fans are fanatical about their love of this singer-songwriter. And as we’ve noted many times… It’s BIG.

This means many people are trying to enjoy the same great band and singer. Most stadiums are set up to handle large crowds, but keep an eye and ear out for security instructions during the event.

And know that you won’t get home quickly (even if you plan on taking public transportation- the trains and buses are running, but tons of people will use the same modes).

Talk with your kids in advance so they know what to expect. We’d also suggest watching some videos (TikTok and Instagram Reels are great bite-sized moments for this).

We hope this parents guide to the Olivia Rodrigo Concert: Guts World Tour (2024) helps with your concert plans!

There is new Eras Tour merch for Taylor Swift's international shows in 2024.

Your Guide To Getting Taylor Swift Eras Tour Merch In 2024

Every tortured poet needs a blue crewneck.

With the international leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour kicking off on Feb. 7 in Tokyo, the quest for copping the viral blue crewneck has officially begun again. Basically, “look what you made me do” has a whole new meaning as Swifties in Japan are braving the winter weather to get their hands on merch like Eras Tour tees and hoodies.

In addition to waiting in lines almost as long as Swift’s 44-song setlist , heavy snowfall and winds are making it a struggle for fans like TikToker @weeenameco to pick up merch before their show.

To help with demand, Eras Tour merch trucks and stands have been opening up days before Swift takes the stage in each city. Going early is the best opportunity for Swifties to get exclusive Eras Tour merch before it sells out. And according to TikToker @jizellemaia, once an item, like the viral blue crewneck, sells out in your city, they are not restocking .

To give you an idea of how popular some Eras Tour merch is, the $65 blue Eras Tour sweatshirt was so popular that resellers were listing it for over $400 online. After everything fans have already had to deal with just trying to get tickets to The Eras Tour , there should be no bad blood getting merch as well. To avoid your day going down in flames, here’s how to make the most of your time at The Eras Tour, figure out which merch items are worth getting, and know what’s new in 2024.

You Can Usually Find Eras Tour Merch Days Before Your Show

Taylor Swift Eras Tour merch is being sold outside venues.

“Take advantage of early merch” is one of @jizellemaia’s top tips for the Eras Tour, as everything is only available while supplies last. Times may vary from city to city, so your best bet is to keep an eye on Twitter, TikTok, or your stadium’s website for any updates. The merch booth in Japan opened two days before the first show at the Tokyo Dome on Feb. 5.

Since Eras Tour merch is typically found outside the venue, you don’t need a ticket to the show in order to shop. Select items will also be available inside for ticket holders the day of the show, but not every booth may have what you’re looking for if supplies are running low. I attended the second show in Las Vegas, and the merch table I went to inside the stadium wasn’t carrying the blue crewneck or even the show poster that’s exclusive to each city.

International Eras Tour Prices Are Relatively The Same

The prices of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour merch is the same internationally.

Before going to the Eras Tour merch truck or booth, here is a breakdown of the prices to see if it’s in your budget:

  • Hoodies — $75
  • Crewneck — $65
  • Quarter Zip Pullover — $65
  • Long Sleeve T-Shirt — $55
  • T-Shirts — $45
  • Canvas Tapestry — $35
  • Bracelet — $35
  • Show Poster — $30
  • Tote Bag — $30
  • Water Bottle — $25
  • Glow Baton — $15
  • Towel — $17

While prices appear to be the same internationally as they were in the U.S., currency conversion could work in your favor here, depending on the country. For example, the blue crewneck was $65 in the U.S., but is closer to $64 in Japan. Saving a dollar is worth it when being a Swiftie is so expensive .

The International Leg Has New Eras Tour Merch

The Eras Tour international dates have new merch items, like a towel and tote bag.

While most of the Eras Tour merch for 2024 looks to be about the same — minus the change in city names and year — there are a few new items that Swifties peeped in @weeenameco’s TikTok. The first is a brand-new Eras Tour tote bag for around $27 — cheaper than the previous $30 one. Instead of a black tote bag with a colorful Eras Tour logo and the names of the U.S. tour cities, this international version is cream with a black logo on the front and the international cities on the back.

The second new item is a $17 Eras Tour towel that one fan on X, formerly Twitter, has already said they need “so bad.” It appears to be thin, so it’s not something you’d want to take with you to lounge on at the beach. Since these shows are taking place in the winter rather than the summer, it looks like the tie-dye tank has been removed as well, along with the white Eras Tour tee.

While it was possible to shop plenty of cute Eras Tour merch online last year, Swift’s online store is just in its The Tortured Poets Department era right now. So, going to the venue early is your best bet for getting Eras Tour merch. You could also look for Eras Tour crewneck dupes on Etsy, if you’d rather shop from your cozy, warm couch at home. Since anyone can go to these merch stands and most of these items have been available for almost a year, it kind of takes away the exclusivity anyway.

This slight fade is related to the product’s distressed, vintage look.

Also, Swifties have expressed their disappointment in the quality of the merch before. One specific design, featuring photos of Swift from different phases of her career on items like the aforementioned tote bag, has been known to fade. Swift’s team has come out saying this is an intentional style choice. “This slight fade is related to the product’s distressed, vintage look,” read a statement on Swift’s official online store .

Their statement also called out how fans should care for the items post-purchase, adding, “Please also note it is important to follow product care instructions as listed on the product label when washing and drying your items, to best protect and maintain the product’s look and feel.”

Ultimately, if you just want something to say, “I was there,” finding some of the less popular tour-exclusive items like the water bottle are much easier the day of your show. When I went to the Eras Tour, I only waited about 20 minutes at a booth right past security and was able to get the water bottle, baton, and shirt I wanted. Another booth around the corner had a much shorter line with the tote bag and show poster. There was also a main merch table right inside the stadium that still had everything.

Tips For Getting The Eras Tour Merch You Really Want

A Swiftie showed up early to get Taylor Swift Eras Tour merch in Tokyo, Japan.

If popular merch items are a priority for you, I recommend showing up early when doors open and trying to get to the main table inside ASAP rather than waiting hours for the truck or booth outside. You can avoid some of the cold weather by going inside the venue, but remember to bring Eras Tour essentials with you if you do plan to camp out.

For anyone waiting for the merch outside, try to show up as early as possible to give yourself the best chance of getting what you want before it sells out. Be sure to check the inventory before stepping in line as well. They tend to run out of certain sizes early, and you don’t want to get to the front only to realize they don’t have what you need anymore.

If you do get the wrong size and you find another merch table that has the right one, Jordan Walker ( @fairytaleswift ) told Elite Daily that it’s possible to exchange. “We went to another [table] and they simply swapped sizes, so that was great,” she shared. Just give yourself plenty of time before the show to get all the merch you want. Swift’s set has been starting around 8 p.m., so you have from doors open till then to make all the purchases you need.

5 Things To Know Before Seeing Taylor Swift At “The Eras Tour”

Byline photo of Brady Snyder

Taylor Swift is touring for the first time since 2018 and has released four studio albums — Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights — in the five years that followed her Reputation Stadium Tour. Swift announced The Eras Tour on Nov. 1, 2022, just weeks following the announcement of Midnights, her tenth studio album.

The timing of the announcements led some to believe that The Eras Tour would essentially become a Midnights-centric tour, but that wasn’t the case. Swift opened the tour on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona with a 44-track set list that spanned much of her discography to date.

Since a showing of The Eras Tour is a long concert bringing unprecedented fan turnout, you’ll have to consider different things than other concerts when preparing to see Swift on tour.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

The Eras Tour can extend beyond five hours in length when you consider openers, intermissions and Swift’s lengthy performance. Though exact total times will vary based on the openers and final set list at each venue, Swift’s typical set list runs roughly three hours and 13 minutes.

At the March 17 show in Glendale, fans remained on their feet for the entirety of the show, and other showings to date have displayed the same fan involvement. That’ll mean attendees will need to stand up to catch a glimpse of Swift for hours straight, most likely standing on concrete stadiums. To stay comfortable and avoid missing out, wear running shoes, quality sneakers or other sturdy shoes to the concert.

Don’t Stand In Line For The Merch Truck

The Eras Tour has brought incredible demand for tour merchandise, and some items have sold out at showings within minutes of gates opening. Though some merchandise items are available on Swift’s online store , others — like the highly-sought blue crewneck — are exclusive to the tour.

Gates typically open for 6:30 p.m. showings two hours before the scheduled start times. A large merchandise truck usually opens at noon, with lines forming even before that. Though people have suggested standing in line for the merch truck hours before entering the venue, that isn’t the best way to be successful.

Instead, wait in line after passing through the security checkpoint in front of the stadium’s gates. There are a multitude of merchandise stands inside the venue that have stock of all the most popular merchandise items. Waiting in front of the stadium gates will allow you to be the first to enter the venue, all but guaranteeing access to merchandise.

However, keep in mind that not all merchandise stands have the same items available. Be sure to glance at the red tapestry showcasing available items before getting in line to wait.

Bring Earplugs. Seriously.

A ton of people have suggested that concert-goers wear protective earplugs to The Eras Tour shows, and it’s easy to dismiss the idea. Of course, after paying hundreds of dollars to see Swift, attendees want to make sure they are enjoying the atmosphere to the fullest.

Regardless, people going to The Eras Tour should seriously consider wearing earplugs to the concert. It’s not necessarily to protect the wearer’s ears from the sound of Swift’s music — that sound level is about the same as other stadium concerts.

But not many other concerts have more than 70,000 people scream-singing lyrics at the top of their lungs for hours straight. Ever experienced ear pain because someone was screaming in your ear? That’s essentially what The Eras Tour can be, at times.

And yes, you’ll still be able to hear all of Swift’s stunning vocals while wearing ear protection.

Make A Clear Bag Plan Before You Go

Most people attending The Eras Tour will be going to stadiums near their home, and may have attended those venues previously. However, Swift has enacted her own bag policies that may differ from the stadium’s typical policies.

Generally, The Eras Tour has a stringent bag policy that requires all bags to be clear and not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” dimensions. A detailed list of prohibited items for Swift’s showing at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan can be found here , but check with your venue for the exact policy.

To make sure your items are in compliance, make a plan before leaving to ensure nothing gets thrown away at the security checkpoint. It’s important to purchase a clear bag in advance, because prices will be higher at and around the stadium on the day of the showing.

Ready Your Smartphone

The length of Eras Tour shows poses another problem, this time for your phone. Since the concert is upwards of five hours long — and attendees might have to travel before and after with their device — battery is a concern. To combat this, make sure phones are fully charged, low power mode is enabled and brightness is down when possible.

Consider purchasing a portable charger for the event and remember to bring the right cables for your device. This could extend a phone’s life by hours, depending on the portable charger.

For people that plan to record a lot of photos and videos of the concert, check how much storage is left on your smartphone. A photo can take up as many as 25 megabytes of storage, with videos taking up gigabytes of space based on their length. To free up space, upload media to the cloud, save it to a computer or delete unnecessary apps for the time being.

If you’re really in a pinch for space, Android users can utilize expanded storage with a microSD card or a USB-C flash drive. For iPhone users, the Sandisk iXpand flash drive can add up to 256 gigabytes of extra storage.

Enjoy The Show

After fighting tooth-and-nail for concert tickets, you’ve gotten the chance to see The Eras Tour, so follow these tips for the best experience.

Blxst’s ‘Before You Go’ Tour Provides The Perfect Blend Of Hip-Hop And R&B

Blxst’s ‘Before You Go’ Tour Is The Perfect Blend Of Hip-Hop And R&B

On August 14, singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer Blxst set the city on fire during his stop in Atlanta for the Before You Go Tour. Held at the historic Tabernacle in Downtown’s Centennial Park District, this concert highlighted the Los Angeles native’s vocal ability, as well as his uncanny stage presence.

The show began around 7:15pm, as the opener, Buddy, walked out to a roaring ovation. The liquor store backdrop added to the West coast aesthetic of his set, as he performed several tracks from his most recent album SuperGhetto , along with some memorable cuts from previous releases. Some of the standout songs were “Broad Day,” “Black,” and the fan favorite “Hollyhood.” Upon completing his final song, Buddy thanked the crowd before walking off stage.

After a brief intermission, the evening’s headliner came out to “Before You Go,” the title track from his third studio project, followed by “Wrong or Right,” “Sometimes,” and “Be Forreal.” In what was an intimate moment with the audience, Blxst spoke about how this was his second time touring in Atlanta, and that the city always shows him love. He then dropped “Fake Love in L.A.” and “Pick Your Poison;” the latter ended with a beautiful violin solo from one of his band members.

In celebration of his loyal listeners, Blxst sang “Hurt,” and “Be Alone,” from his debut album No Love Lost , along with “Keep Comin’ Back,” the single he shared on YouTube in April. The multi-talented California crooner then began to serenade the females in the audience with , “Every Good Girl” and “About You.” He then brought out vocalist Cheyenne Wright, who assisted him on the emotionally charged song, “Overrated.”

Buddy reintroduced himself to the fans as he and Blxst danced to their collaborative single “Wait Too Long,” a track that they recently performed together on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! He then closed out his set with “Die Hard,” from Kendrick Lamar ’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers .

Blxst definitely left his mark on the city of Atlanta with a memorable performance at Tabernacle. Be sure to check out the rest of the Before You Go Tour prior to its conclusion on November 16 in Manchester. You can purchase tickets here .

Getting Into the Show: It's a "One-Way" Ticket

MetLife Stadium says tickets are valid for one scan only; there is no re-entry. If you're saying to yourself, "how'd we end up on the floor anyway?" Fans with floor tickets (Sections 1-15) can use any gate for entry and head to HCL Tech Plaza for floor entry.

Be sure to "Pick Up the Phone" because MetLife gate attendants will be looking for the Ticketmaster App. Have your mobile ticket downloaded, out and ready before getting into the security line.

The stadium said it will "strongly encourage" those without tickets to not come to MetLife during days of the show.

How to Get There: Will You Need a "Getaway Car"?

New Jersey Transit is urging Swifties to purchase round-trip train tickets in advance , ideally on the NJ Transit app. However, NJ Transit says they will not cap the number of tickets sold.

According to their website, fans traveling on NJ Transit trains to MetLife Stadium should purchase their roundtrip tickets from their originating station to Meadowlands Station to avoid boarding delays. Tickets purchased on the train will include a $5 surcharge for each ticket.

MetLife Stadium says NJ Transit service will operate from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium starting at 4:07 p.m. on Friday and 4:17 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Coach USA Bus, the 351 Meadowlands Express, will operate from Port Authority in NYC to MetLife Stadium starting at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Return service to Port Authority runs for 60 minutes after the concert ends. Tickets are available here .

If You're Driving, Will You Need to Park "Behind the Mall"?

MetLife Stadium says you must have a ticket corresponding to that evening's show for access to all parking lots. Lots open at 12:30 p.m. the day of each show. It's $40 per car, $100 per limousine and $160 per bus.

Credit cards and cash are accepted. Reminder: the rest of the stadium is cashless. Only credit and debit are accepted.

If we've learned anything from TikTok, there will be traffic, so plan accordingly. Prepaid parking is not available. No pictures to burn here, take a picture of your spot so you can find your car after the show.

Drinking Beer Out of Plastic Cups? Yes, You Can Tailgate (or Taylor-gate)

That will come as a relief to many. However, MetLife Stadium says no additional parking spots may be used.

Taylor Will Never Go Out of "Style," But What Bags Are Allowed at the Shows?

MetLife Stadium's policy states that bags must be clear (a.k.a. see-through): 12” x 6” x 12” or less in size, and 1 bag per person. Small purses (clutch-type bags about the size of your hand) 4.5” x 6.5” or less in size (1 per person) are also allowed, and do not need to be clear.

No camera or binocular cases, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, and briefcases/computer bags are allowed either.

For more information on what bags are allowed, click here .

Additionally, food or snacks in a clear plastic bag, factory-sealed, plastic bottles of water or soft drinks 20 oz. or less, empty reusable water bottles (plastic and aluminum) and small handheld portable phone chargers are allowed.

Put simply, if you're bringing a drink inside, it must still be factory-sealed. Otherwise, a reusable water bottle can be brought in, but it must be empty upon entry. There are water fountains located inside the stadium where the bottles can be filled.

As far as other common items not allowed, be glad the weather looks good for the weekend, because umbrellas are not allowed. Also, the MetLife Stadium site lists banners or signs as forbidden as well.

For a full list of what is and is not allowed, click here .

You May Be Spinning Like a Girl in a Brand New Dress, But What About Merch Stands and Trailers?

Taylor Nation, Taylor Swift's official fan group, says ticketed fans can shop merch and the newly announced special edition CDs (more on that in a second) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m. The merch truck is located in Lot E. Merch is also available starting at 4:30 p.m. at MetLife gates and the Team Store.

Again, as we've seen from TikTok, be prepared for long lines, however, it's a great chance to make friendship bracelets.

As for that new CD, Swift said in a tweet Wednesday there will be a new special edition CD will only be available on-site in East Rutherford. The CD sold at MetLife will have a "never before heard Midnights vault track called 'You’re Losing Me.'"

The new Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) deluxe album will feature Ice Spice o the song "Karma" as well as newly recorded vocals from Lana Del Rey on "Snow on the Beach."

Um. SO much to tell you. I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch. So delighted to say that Karma Featuring the incredible @icespicee_ will be out TOMORROW night at MIDNIGHT ET as a part of the new Midnights… pic.twitter.com/OaRrHBWTUw — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) May 24, 2023

Speaking of...Make the Friendship Bracelets, Take the Moment and Taste it:

Swifties from Glendale to Boston have been making friendship bracelets to trade at the shows. Think favorite song lyrics, Taylor Swift quotes, special dates...get creative.

If You're Hoping to Keep Your Hearing Stay "Safe & Sound":

Swift fans who have attended previous shows have recommended concert-friendly earplugs. There are several options available online for under $20. The earplugs promise not to block all the noise or music, but to make the volume safer.

Standing in a Nice Dress, Staring at the Sunset — How's the Weather Looking?

Our resident Swifties from Storm Team 4 say the chance for "Midnight Rain" will stay south of the tri-state. But hey, maybe an old "Cardigan" couldn't hurt for after the sun goes down.

If You're Thinking About a Dive Bar on the East Side...

Some of Taylor's favorite spots in the city and businesses around MetLife Stadium say they're ready for Swifties. In fact, many are all too happy to get a potential boon for business during what typically is a down holiday weekend. Some restaurants are even offering shuttles to the stadium , which would save you money on parking.

She Wears Short Skirts, I Wear T-Shirts — But What Outfits Are Swifties Looking to Wear to the Show?

The outfit is a key element of the Taylor Swift concert experience (after all, she's going to have more than a dozen outfit changes herself throughout each show), so it's important to do your research into what everyone is thinking of wearing.

According to Pinterest data, "Speak Now" is the most popular era for outfit inspiration searches, followed by "Lover" and "Folklore." So use that to help you form your ideas.

Keep a Wide-Eyed Gaze Around the Tri-State This Week:

Everyone from the Museum of Arts and Design to the NYC Ferry is saying, "Welcome to New York."

All I Do Is Try, Try, Try...for Tickets:

The Eras tour is one of the largest and most sought-after concert tours in history — ticket sales in the first place caused a minor meltdown at Ticketmaster.

If you can feel your heartbeat on the High Line and are still trying to get tickets, be prepared to pay up. StubHub, Vivid Seats, TickPick and GameTime are just some of the secondary market sites that are offering seats, but they'll cost a pretty penny.

As of Wednesday morning, the cheapest ticket listed on StubHub for any of the Friday, Saturday or Sunday shows was for more than $1,400. The most expensive tickets were listed for more than $21,000.

If you've been scouring TikTok looking for tips and tricks, there are some people who have had luck with Ticketmaster the day of the show, even right after the shows have started. If you wake in the night, pacing like a ghost because of ticket troubles, be careful where you buy . Scammers are using different ways to dupe Swifties into sending money online for a ticket that doesn’t exist.

For more on scams,  click here .

This May Be "The Last Time" You Get a Chance for Tickets...

The American Dream Mall, located right next to MetLife Stadium, will be hosting events each day before the concerts from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m., and that includes a shot at a pair of tickets to the show that night.

In addition to a live DJ playing all of Taylor's hits, Swifties will get a chance to sing karaoke, shop, grab a bite or a drink, and enjoy photo ops at the Tour Next Door event.

Those looking for a ticket can enter for a chance to win every day beginning Friday and ending Sunday, with the sweepstakes opening from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Winners will be announced live onsite at 5 p.m. — but an important note: Winners will need to be onsite as well to collect tickets.

Those hoping to snag the free tickets can enter at AmericanDream.com .

The Differences Between Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Merch Online Vs. In Person

From online-only merch to fading tees, buying Eras swag is almost as complicated as getting tickets.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Merch: What To Buy Online Vs. In Person

Buying tickets to Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour was so difficult that it spawned lawsuits that could very well change Ticketmaster as we know it. But believe it or not, there’s one thing that’s almost just as much of a hassle to obtain (and apparently maintain): Eras Tour merch because of extensively long lines, ranges of online-exclusive merch , and reports of certain items fading after just one wash . If you play your cards right though, it is possible to snatch up Swift’s merch with ease – and perhaps even nab some items no one else at the concert will get.

Swift has made merch accessible for fans who couldn’t get their hands on Eras Tour tickets by opening up her dedicated merch truck to the public in every Eras Tour city the day before each show. However, it’s taken some fans almost as long to buy merch as it did to buy their tickets in November, with lines stretching out to more than six hours long. Some people have also been camping out and buying literal cases of merch to resell online, leading Swift’s team to place limits on how many items can be bought per person.

If you have tickets to the show, merch lines aren’t quite as long once you enter the stadium, but you need to plan your day in advance if you’re after something specific. And if you don’t want to wait in line at all for Eras Tour merch, you’re in luck, but only to an extent. Swift’s online store carries a few of the items sold at the show, as well as a wide array of clothing, accessories, and other themed gadgets that are available exclusively online for the time being. However, a significant amount of pieces are only sold at the physical merch stands, making for some confusion on what to get.

Here’s your guide to Swift’s Eras Tour merch, including the whole fading issue.

What To Buy At The Eras Tour Merch Stand

Swift sells a variety of T-shirts, sweaters, and hoodies at the Eras Tour, most of which use the tour poster design and come in various colors, with the exception of a long-sleeve T-shirt that only has the image representing Midnights . Some of the most sought-after pieces, including the half-zip sweatshirt, a navy blue logo crewneck sweater, and a beige hoodie with a black-and-white tour poster on the back, are only sold at the merch truck, not at any of the merch stands inside the venue. If these are what you have your eye on, make sure to buy before heading into the stadium.

Most of the accessories sold at the show are only available in person, including the Eras Tour tote bag, canvas tapestry, water bottle, and glow baton. The only accessory that you can currently buy online is the “Bejeweled” bracelet, which has been sold on Swift’s online store since October. Each tour stop also has a personalized poster with the city’s name on it, which is also made available on the online store for a limited time after the shows.

What To Buy On The Eras Tour Online Store

Before the Eras Tour even began, Swift released a range of Eras Tour merch that fans can buy in advance and wear to their show. Many pieces are similar to those available at the merch stand, but there are slight differences between what’s sold online and in person. For example, the beige T-shirt sold at the stand has a black-and-white tour poster print, while the online shirt is in color , and the navy blue crewneck is sold as a very similar hoodie online. The only T-shirt that’s identical both online and at the venue is the black tour poster T-shirt .

before you go tour merch

The amount of merch available online is vast compared to what’s been sold at shows thus far. Currently, Swift’s store carries individual Eras Tour shirts for each era , from her 2006 debut to 2022’s Midnights , as well as outerwear with new designs not sold at the show, including an Eras Tour poncho in case you want to prepare for a rain show, which Swift famously loves.

Swifties aren’t the only ones taking advantage of this exclusive merch. After attending Swift’s show in Arlington, Texas, on April 1, her close friend Selena Gomez donned a pair of Eras Tour sweatpants, which are only available online for now.

Selena Gomez is seen filming "Only Murders in the Building" in Washington Heights on April 04, 2023 ...

Swift is also selling a huge variety of fun accessories not available at tour venues, including AirPods cases , a special Eras blanket , coasters shaped like guitar picks , actual guitar picks , and even a phone case with interchangeable frames for each era. Speaking from experience, it’s very easy to spend more money on merch than you did for your actual ticket, so be sure to plan wisely.

Will Your Eras Tour Merch Fade?

After the first shows of the Eras Tour, merch-buyers complained that their T-shirts drastically faded after just one wash. In a statement on Swift’s online store, the merch team explained that the “slight fade” is intentional for “the product’s distressed, vintage look” and is a result of the “particular ink curing process” that was used on the shirts. “Please also note it is important to follow product care instructions as listed on the product label when washing and drying your items, to best protect and maintain the product's look and feel,” they wrote.

However, Swift’s team is offering exchanges if buyers notice a “dramatic loss of pigment or ink bleeding” on their shirts, simply asking them to contact [email protected] to see if their case would fall under the exchange policy.

Manor Lords artwork of a lord on horseback surveying a large castle as well as some fields, sheep, and huts

Manor Lords is complex, fidgety, and more than a little impenetrable. There’s a lot that will be familiar about it if you’re a veteran of city-building games, but Manor Lords has it’s own idiosyncracies even with those. And that makes tips and tricks less important than just general advice and quick explanations of those quirks, so that’s what we’ll focus on for this beginner’s guide.

Below, we’ve got nine things to know before you get started playing Manor Lords with advice on things like building your town, how labor works in the game, keeping your town fed, and managing your resources. If you’re looking for more detailed explainers, we’ve got separate guides for growing your town , increasing Regional Wealth , and setting up your first farm .

Expect more construction than combat

Like the dev said on Steam , Manor Lords is “a citybuilder with battles,” not a grand army simulator. It’s a city and resource management game first. With peaceful settings, it can even be downright cozy.

Manor Lords armored soldiers in a pitched battle

Don’t make combat your focus going in — and, for that matter, don’t expect combat to be a focus at all, really. Even with aggressive opponents — bandits and other lords — battles are pretty rare. Building up an army means building up a lot of infrastructure — mines, bloomeries, blacksmiths, logging camps, joiners, and more — before anyone even picks up a weapon.

Manor Lords is one of the more infrastructure-intensive city builders out there. For example, let’s say you want to start producing yarn — not even clothes, just yarn. You’ll need a livestock trader, a sheep farm, and a weaver’s workshop at a minimum. But each part of that process requires a family to be assigned to the building(s), and families require burgage plots to live on. That’s a bare minimum of four buildings already, and that doesn’t even touch on keeping the town supplied with food and fuel — which increases the number of buildings you’ll need in place before you can get a single sheep much closer to eight or 10.

Manor Lords large town

That sort of infrastructure interdependency and complexity holds true throughout Manor Lords . Getting a town humming along smoothly takes a lot of planning (and trial and error) to make sure you’ve got everything you need in place.

All of that planning and infrastructure starts with burgage plots

Burgage plots are the basic unit of your town

Think of burgage plots as mixed-used zoning where your town’s families will build houses and workshops. Depending on the size and shape of the burgage plot, there might be room for additional housing (adding a house for a second family to the plot) or an extension (for a garden or a workshop).

Manor Lords small village with 5 burgage plots

Burgage plot extensions are a weird aspect of Manor Lords because they mix together housing and industry. But that industry is often vital to your town. Early on, burgage plots can grow vegetables and collect eggs from backyard chickens. Later, upgraded and extended burgage plots that you turn into workshops are how you’ll make everything from ale to weapons.

There are still single-use buildings you’ll have to build — things like logging camps and sawpits, sheep farms and weaver’s workshops, barley farms and malthouses — but the final step in the supply chain is usually built at a burgage plot.

Those standalone buildings all have to be run by a family that lives in your town because…

Families are the work units in Manor Lords

You don’t have any control over individual people in Manor Lords . Instead, you’ll assign families to buildings and, by extension, assign them to jobs. Think of it like the way surnames and bynames evolved in late Medieval western Europe — people working in a bakery took the last name Baker, sheep herders took the last name Shepherd, etc.

By default (while they’re unassigned), families in Manor Lords do, basically, whatever the town needs. Usually, this is construction — any buildings or upgrades you have happening — or escorting the town’s oxen around to haul timber (usually for construction). They also seem to (but don’t quote me on this — those little people are hard to follow around) pitch in by moving goods to the granary, storehouse, and marketplace.

Manor Lords assigning a family to a job with the small stone church’s menu

Once you have a building built, you have to hit the plus button to assign a family to work there. This takes one of the unassigned families and makes them dedicated to working at that building. They still tend the garden or livestock on their burgage plots and, more importantly, if you pause or remove the assignment from the building, they’ll go back to the unassigned pool.

Speaking of tending gardens…

Vegetable gardens are more important than farms

Farms and farmland are a thing you’ll deal with in Manor Lords as your town grows. But, especially starting out, they’re not as important as you might expect. They’re a lot of work for not a lot of reward. And, on top of that, farms require even more infrastructure.

Manor Lords villager working in a backyard vegetable garden

Instead, it’s better to just build the vegetable garden extension onto a burgage plot. For example, if you give your first couple burgage plots huge backyards, you can build two vegetable gardens that will grow enough for an entire game — we have one town with a population of over 200 people that still get their vegetables from those first two vegetable gardens.

Gardens and the other burgage plot extensions cost Regional Wealth to build. And Regional Wealth is a little confusing.

Burgage plots and Regional Wealth are related

Regional Wealth is basically how much cash your town’s families have on hand. Regional Wealth is where the town’s taxes come from. It’s also what your town will use to import goods. Confusingly, it doesn’t have anything to do with your town’s marketplace . Instead, as the name implies, it’s about wealth instead of just money and that wealth comes from either exporting surplus goods or just from upgrading burgage plots.

Upgrading your burgage plots is also how you’ll advance in the game. But upgrading comes with new requirements, so…

Expanding too fast will make villagers unhappy

Development points are a reward you’ll get as your town reaches certain milestones — building five burgage plots, upgrading two of those five to Level 2 burgage plots, and so on. Upgrading burgage plots gives you access to more and better extensions (like backyard workshops — see above), but they also increase the requirements for those plots. For example, you’ll need access to two kinds of food to upgrade a plot from Level 1 to Level 2. We’ve got a whole guide to upgrading your town that walks you through the first few settlement levels.

Once you do start upgrading burgage plots, though, the families on that plot will expect two kinds of food to be available from then on. And if your town can’t supply that, they’ll start to get unhappy, which lowers your approval and slows down your town’s growth as well as makes your militias lose morale.

Manor Lords marketplace

Keeping your town supplied is as much a exercise in building up a surplus as it is in laying out your town carefully — we’ve got a guide to how marketplaces distribute goods here.

Try to limit yourself to only building as many burgage plots as you need for the next upgrade and development point instead of just expanding your town to get more and more families moved in. Sometimes, this will mean assigning and unassigning families over the course of a year. Which is possible because…

Everything is seasonal

A year in Manor Lords is divided into the typical four seasons — spring (March through May), summer (June through August), autumn (September through November), and winter (December through February). Things happen in the world depending on the season — for example: you can’t gather berries during winter, crops grow during spring and summer and then are harvested (and replanted) in autumn, and your sheep farms don’t produce wool in the winter (the sheep would get cold). The winter’s temperature also means that all of your burgage plots and families consume twice as much fuel to keep warm.

Manor Lords town and landscape covered in snow

That ebb and flow of resources is how you can get away with having fewer families than available job assignments. You can have a family work on a farm during the autumn, and then swap them to a forager’s hut come spring while the crops grow. Or you can move a family back and forth between a clay mining pit and the clay furnace that turns that clay into rooftiles.

You also have a couple ways to manage renewable resources, like…

Forester’s huts offset logging camps

Manor Lords logging camp and forester hut

Logging for timber is a pretty destructive process and you’re going to run out of easily accessible trees pretty quickly. You can move a logging camp for free, but even then you’ll still run out of trees eventually. If you build a forester’s hut (2 timber), though, a family assigned there will plant trees. Those trees take a while to grow — they’re trees, after all — but pairing a forester’s hut with a logging camp can actually provide a steady (if slow) and renewable supply of timber.

You can even switch a single family back and forth between the two jobs if you need to — have them grow trees for a couple years, and then spend the next year cutting them down.

You keep your families healthy by upgrading forager huts

Manor Lords adding a herb garden to a forager hut

One final upgrade that’s a bit harder to notice is the add a herb garden (25 Regional Wealth, 2 planks) for a forager hut. There’s a mechanic happening in the background where your townsfolk can get sick — all you might see about this is a quick notification. This is probably going to become more obvious and visible as the game continues through its early access.

Sick villagers are less efficient at work, and the way to heal them back up is with herbs . Those herbs come from the garden upgrade to a forager’s shack. Once they’re gathered, they’re stored in the granary and distributed at a marketplace.

Originally from Orlando, Florida, the pop band Before You Exit is now based in Los Angeles, California. The group consists of singer-songwriter brothers Connor, Riley, and Toby McDonough. Since the very beginning, the band has worked in their home studio writing and producing their own music. The name Before You Exit originated from their desire to make a difference with their fresh and life inspired original music and throughout their career, they have exemplified their efforts to do just that.

Since their conception, BYE has enjoyed worldwide recognition with several major milestones marking their evolution and success. From beginning in their garage at home to chart topping singles and worldwide touring, the group has come a long way. As a touring band, they've headlined numerous tours and also toured alongside artists such as The Vamps, Olly Murs, and Fifth Harmony. BYE has also made appearances alongside artists including Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and One Direction among others, and they also participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. In 2015, they signed to RCA records (Sony – RCA) and co-headlined a European – UK tour with Christina Grimmie, third place winner on season six of 'The Voice'.

A year later they released their innovative and dynamic EP “All the Lights". The recording’s release coincided with their now well-known US tour on which they were supported by their dear friend, artist Christina Grimmie who met her demise following a performance in Orlando, last June.  In the aftermath of the 2016 US tour, Connor, Riley, and Toby mourned the loss of their dear friend while devoting time to writing in the studio. Thereafter they released “Clouds" written in memory and honor of Christina. The song is structured with a heartfelt melody and deeply reaching lyrics and has been well received by all. It would be six more months until their next live performance.

The tragedy of 2016 proved to the three brothers that their most cherished asset continues to be the love and support they've known from their family, friends, and fans around the world. Miraculously, it was that same love and support along with the experiences the band went through that manifested itself into inspiration. With the goal of an album in mind, Connor, Riley, and Toby made the decision to move to Los Angeles to continue in their musical pursuit. After a few years of writing and even self-producing a majority of their album, the band announced that this goal had become a reality, with an LP to be released in three parts. On June 28th, Before You Exit released their debut album titled ‘love, pain, & retrospect’, a fitting name given the band’s recent history.

A quote from the song ‘Solar Eclipse’ off ‘love, pain, & retrospect’ speaks volumes of the overall message of the album:

“…But remember, within the darkest of days, the biggest dreams are formed and come to light, a light otherwise never discovered were it not for the dark. A new love exists because of the pain. And in retrospect, we can clearly see the rainbow through the rain.”

Q&A: Neal Schon On The ‘Freedom’ Of Journey, His Friendship With Carlos Santana And Much More

Journey will release Freedom , their first album in 11 years, this Friday (July 8). With the 11-year gap between records, the band's longest break between albums, and the presence of drummer/producer Narada Michael Walden, Freedom , according to guitarist Neal Schon, is a true representation of who Journey is in 2022.

Neal Schon on Journey’s New LP ‘Freedom,’ Ambitious 50th Anniversary Plans

It’s been 11 years since Journey released their last studio record, and for a while it was looking like they’d never get around to making one. “Nobody was really interested in making new music,” Journey founder and guitarist and Neal Schon tells Rolling Stone via Zoom from his California home. “It’s very difficult to get new material played and to get people familiar with it before you go out and play live. Everybody in the band was like, ‘I don’t want to do it.'”

Penn Relays 2024: Time, tickets, parking and everything you need to know before you go

The return of the Penn Relays, now in its 128th running, will also signify the return of a partnership with World Athletics. Ahead of it all, here’s what to expect from a busy three days of events.

The high school boys’ 3000-meter championship race takes place on the second day of the 2023 Penn Relays at Franklin Field on April 28, 2023.

If you’ve been around the Penn Relays , are a track-and-field enthusiast, or have lived anywhere in the vicinity of Franklin Field over the last decade, then you know just how electric the final Saturday of the event can get.

This year, you’re in for a treat.

The return of the Penn Relays, now in their 128th running, brings the expansion of a partnership with World Athletics, global track and field’s governing body. That should help bring the sport’s big names back to Franklin Field, five years after the popular USA vs. the World races ended.

» READ MORE: After a back injury, this Penn senior’s record-breaking track success is ‘a long time coming’

Saturday, or the main day for the Global Relays, feels like the final return to normalcy to an event that was modified in its return post-pandemic in 2022. It showed too. The signature “wooos” from fans as racers reached the final turn were gone. So were the eclectic smells of global eats emanating from the Carnival Village. Well, it’s all back, with the first starter’s pistol scheduled to go off at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Ahead of it all, here’s what to expect from a busy three days of events.

How long are the Penn Relays?

The three-day event begins Thursday and will culminate on Saturday with more than 100 high schools and colleges combined, and other top races ranging from Olympic hopefuls to Masters (60 and over) participating in running and field events.

Here’s how to watch the Penn Relays

General admission tickets are on sale for $26, which will provide an all-day pass for both Thursday and Friday. A ticket for Saturday’s finale is $29. There are also discounted tickets for Penn students and schools participating. All of that information can be found here . Unable to make it out but still want to watch? All three days are scheduled to be streamed live via FloTrack , but be forewarned it costs $30 per month for the service.

» READ MORE: Liam Murphy is one of the best runners in Villanova history. The Penn Relays are next on his docket.

What’s the best way to get to Franklin Field?

If you’re savvy with public transportation, take it — the area around Franklin Field can be a cluster on race days. SEPTA has a regional rail line, several bus routes and the Market-Frankford Line all with stops just blocks from the stadium . If you’d rather drive, the following parking locations below are available starting at $25. For more information, visit upenn.edu/parking .

Museum Garage, South & Convention Street

Chestnut 34, 34th & Chestnut Streets

Walnut 38, 38th & Walnut Streets

Walnut 40, 40th & Walnut Streets

What are some of the events to watch?

Thursday will feature a good portion of high school events, but the evening will feature college championships in both middle- and long-distance events, including the men’s and women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with the women up first.

Friday is Championship of America race day for high school teams in various events, featuring the nine fastest teams from Thursday’s preliminary round. In addition to a host of American talent, there are always schools from the Caribbean that offer an early look at who the next phenom could be from Jamaica and other islands. Like sprints? Both the high school girls 4x100-meter (2:15 p.m. scheduled start) and the college men’s 4x200-meter (3:10 p.m. scheduled start) highlight Friday.

Saturday is the marquee race day. In addition to a host of single-leg and relay championships for both colleges and high schools, the Olympic development races featuring some of the best track athletes from the United States and the Caribbean are scheduled to compete in sprint, middle- and long-distance events in addition to the men’s and women’s high-jump competitions.

For the full schedule of events, in addition to the schools and athletes participating, click here . Also, there’s a store on the north side of Franklin Field where you can buy T-shirts and other souvenirs.

The best thing to get might be the program, which costs $15. As is our tradition at The Inquirer , we’re here to let you know it’s a bargain, even though the price went up a little this year. Not only does it have this year’s race schedule, but it has all the records for almost every race you could think of in Relays history.

Who are some of the athletes and teams to watch?

U.S. Olympian Bryce Deadmon is the highlight of Saturday’s 400-meter event. Deadmon, who captured gold in the men’s 4x400 three years ago at the Tokyo Summer Olympics , heads to Franklin Field ranked among the top 10 in the world in the 400.

If you’re an Eagles fan, you’ll want to root for Olympic high jumper Vashti Cunningham, who will headline the women’s field in the elite high jump (Saturday) in the first running of the competition. The daughter of former Eagles quarterback Randall Cunningham has finished first in the high jump in every USA Track and Field championship event since 2017.

Anyone local to keep an eye on?

Yep. In addition to the scores of area high schools and colleges that will field teams over the three days, you’ll want to make sure you’re in the stadium for the homecoming of middle-distance runner Nia Akins, who is scheduled to compete in the women’s 1,500-meter event.

A 2020 Penn graduate, Akins is still the program record holder or was part of a relay team that still holds the record in five events. She holds the records in the 800 and 1,500 meters and was a member of the record-setting outdoor 4x400 and indoor and outdoor 4x800 relay teams.

What is there to do near the venue?

Franklin Field is situated squarely on Penn’s campus and across from the city’s medical hub. However, there are many places to shop, dine, and explore in and around University City . Looking for something to get into when you’re not watching racers zip around the track or compete on the infield? In addition to the food trucks featuring dishes from around the world situated behind the Palestra, here are a few suggestions, courtesy of The Inquirer.

‘Forbidden Broadway’ Scraps Summer Broadway Run, Citing Crowded Season

The parody show was scheduled to begin performances in July at the Helen Hayes Theater.

A man in a yellow and black striped shirt and a woman in a black leotard are performing with their left arms in the air.

By Michael Paulson

In a sign that there are not enough investors and ticket buyers to sustain all of the Broadway shows now onstage and in the works, the producers of “Forbidden Broadway” said Friday that they were canceling a planned summer run.

The scrapped production, “ Forbidden Broadway on Broadway: Merrily We Stole a Song ,” was announced in February and was to be the first Broadway venture for the satirical revue, which has been performed periodically since 1982, mostly Off Broadway but also on tour. The show, consisting of comedic sketches that parody Broadway hits (and misses), has been frequently rewritten to remain reasonably timely and topical; the Broadway run was to feature a number of Sondheim spoofs, reflecting the heightened interest in his work since his death.

In a statement, the producers, Ryan Bogner, Victoria Lang and Tracey Stroock McFarland , called the move a postponement, and cited the volume of offerings on Broadway — there are currently 36 shows running, 12 of which opened in a nine-day stretch before the Tony-eligibility season ended Thursday night.

“The Broadway landscape is enormously crowded at this moment,” the producers’ statement said, “and while we adore Forbidden Broadway, we are disappointed that the show will not open at the Hayes on Broadway this summer.”

The show, written by Gerard Alessandrini, was to begin previews July 15 and to open Aug. 5 at the Helen Hayes Theater, and was to be capitalized for $3.2 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is not clear if the producers had successfully raised all that money, and ticket sales, which began earlier this month, had been slow.

“Without getting into the details of the financials or sales, it is self evident by looking at the current offerings on Broadway and their sales that in this incredibly crowded environment without recent precedent, the title would not have been served by launching at this time,” the producers said in a written answer to questions about the show’s economics.

This is the second show to cancel a Broadway production this year; in February, the producers of a planned run of Rob Madge’s “My Son’s a Queer (But What Can You Do?)” announced that they were postponing that production less than three weeks before previews were to begin.

As for Madge, the performer is planning to take “My Son’s a Queer” back to the Edinburgh Fringe, this summer . But first, next month Madge is planning a show in London, reflecting on the Broadway disappointment. The title, of course, is “ Regards to Broadway .”
