Combined front row seat weight must be under 470 lbs and individual passenger weights must be 240 lbs. Should actual weights during check-in exceed any of these limits guests will be accommodated in other seats and a refund will be made for the premium upgrade fee. • From Waikiki (8mi, 20-30min): Head west on the H1 Freeway towards Honolulu International Airport. Take exit 18 to merge onto Nimitz Highway (HI-92W). Turn left onto Lagoon Drive and then right onto Kaulele Place. Go straight to the end of the road and pass through the gate. Parking is free.
• Please Note: Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is a Part 135 On-Demand Air Carrier. Preferred times may be adjusted due to demand and availability. Flight departures are approximate and may change according to seasonality.

• This activity is wheelchair accessible.
• If less than 4 participants are booked, the activity may not operate.
• Children of all ages can participate in this activity.
• Do not go SCUBA diving within 24 hours or SNUBA 12 hours prior to your tour. You may snorkel or swim prior to your tour and there is no risk in SCUBA or SNUBA after your helicopter tour.
• Wheelchair Accessibility: The Front Row Upgrade is NOT wheelchair accessible.
• Wheelchair accessibility: The tour is wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. Each base has a custom built chair lift to assist passengers into the helicopter safely and comfortably. The chair lifts are only able to access the rear row of seats therefore guests requiring a chair lift to board the helicopter cannot be accommodated in the front row. The chair lifts are able to accommodate passengers up to 250 lbs. However, wheelchairs and portable oxygen tanks will not be allowed on board.

• The additional cost for guests weighing 240 lbs. (108.86 kg) and over is to secure an adjacent seat that will remain empty for the duration of the flight. This is to help properly balance the aircraft and ensure the comfort of all passengers. For each guest weighing more than 240 lbs., an adjacent, empty seat purchase is required.
• You must check-in at least 45 minutes prior to your activity start time.
• All mobile phones must remain in airplane mode while in the helicopter.

Is there a safe place to store my belongings during the flight?

Personal belongings can be safely stored at the Blue Hawaiian Helicopters office prior to your departure.

Can you get a guaranteed window seat? Will you need to pay extra for this?

Seating is determined by computer software used to balance the helicopter. Upgrades are not offered for guaranteed window seating. If you are a party of two people, one person will be guaranteed a window seat.

We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last minute availability is often possible, but limited.

How many people are there per flight?

Helicopters can hold up to six (6) passengers plus the pilot.

Do you make a video of the flight tour?

Yes. Every flight is captured in high-quality video. Each helicopter is equipped with four cameras; three external and one in the cabin. The video recording begins during the boarding process. The recording is continuous until landing and includes digital quality music chosen to complement the changing scenery, plus all the pilot's narration. The video is available for purchase right after you return from your flight.

Do you recommend taking anti-motion sickness medication?

The flights operated by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters' professional pilots are very smooth and turns are slow and gentle. If you are particularly prone to motion sickness, taking a precautionary anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea.

What To Bring

Wear solid dark-colored clothing.  Our helicopters are temperature controlled so dress comfortably but wear dark clothing. This will cause less reflection in the windows to allow a clear view of all the sights. It will also allow you to take better photos and video without clothing items or light-colored logos or patterns from your clothing reflecting in the photos that you and other guests would like to take of the magnificent scenery.  If your tour includes a landing, closed-toed shoes such as athletic shoes are recommend.  The ground at our remote landing sites can be uneven and sometimes a bit wet. Bring lots of film.

• Flights may vary depending upon weather conditions
• FAA regulations require them to weigh all guests and bags at check-in. this is done discreetly for your privacy. Please be accurate as possible when providing weight information.
• Combined front row seat weight must be under 319 lbs for A-Star tours and 470 lbs for Eco-Star tours and individual passenger weights must be under 250 lbs for A-Star and 260 lbs for Eco Star. Should actual weights during check-in exceed any of these limits guests will be accommodated in other seats and a refund will be made for the premium upgrade fee.
• Front row passengers must occupy their own seats and must be able to refrain from interfering with the pilot and instrumentation. At least one of the front seat occupants must be 15 years of age or older and capable of performing emergency aircraft egress procedures. Lap children cannot be accommodated in the front row.
• In the event of an emergency front row passengers must be able to receive instructions in English and be physically capable of operating exit doors. Our chair lifts are only able to access the rear row of seats therefore guests requiring a chair lift to board the helicopter cannot be accommodated in the front row.
• For each guest weighing 240 pounds or more, an adjacent, empty seat purchase is required to safely balance the aircraft. The charge for a comfort seat is reduced to 50% off of the regular tour price.
• Children under 24 months and less than 25lbs are considered a “lap child” (no charge), however, we do not recommend or encourage “lap children” on the flight.

Current staff members include a pilot and manager, with room for growth. Matt is their full-time pilot and is on-site daily. His passion for aviation peaked when he saw a crop-dusting helicopter in action and realized what niche jobs and locations helicopters could operate in, allowing for a unique lifestyle. Upon seeing his first air show, along with feeling the sense of power a helicopter could produce, he was hooked!
