Bunnik Tours: Mastering the art of small group travel

bunnik luxury tours

Do you know the number one reason clients want to travel on a Bunnik Tour? Group size! Their worldwide tours never exceed 20 guests and are even smaller on their In-Style and Africa tours.

Bunnik Tours is the specialist in small group touring! With over 25 years of experience, their mission is twofold: to offer personalised travel experiences and to contribute positively to the economic and social well-being of the places they visit.

Thanks to smaller group sizes, Bunnik Tours’ travellers spend less time waiting for fellow tourers, meaning more time to enjoy their holiday.

They also receive more personal attention and additional time to spend with the tour guides, who can share their wealth of local knowledge and with spacious coaches for just 20 guests, clients can spread out and enjoy the view with plenty of spare seats.

Bunnik Tours provide complete, stress-free packages with accommodation, guides, tipping, meals and airfares included on some tours.

Spanning the globe from Africa to Europe, South America to Asia, and the United Kingdom & Ireland, their tours capture the essence of each destination, thoughtfully designed to provide a balance of organised sightseeing and free time for independent exploration.

Small groups also offer more flexibility!

Logistical constraints mean larger groups are often required to stay in sizable hotels and dine at popular tourist restaurants capable of accommodating their substantial numbers simultaneously.

“With Bunnik Tours’ small group sizes, travellers have a chance to venture off the beaten track, stay at smaller hotels and dine at intimate restaurants,” joint-CEO, Bunnik Tours, Dennis Bunnik, said.

Marion Bunnik, the founder of Bunnik Tours, opened her travel agency in 1995, driven by a passion for travel and a commitment to her customers.

Since launching Bunnik Tours in 2004, the team has remained loyal to their travel agency partners, which are a crucial part of their business.

“We have several initiatives and processes in place to make booking a Bunnik Tour as easy and as rewarding as possible,” Bunnik said.

Now, let’s break down why booking with Bunnik Tours is a win-win for you and your clients.

“This includes answering all agent calls without delay, because we know how frustrating it is to be kept on hold,” Bunnik continued.

All calls are answered by fully trained staff who know their stuff and can handle requests from start to finish, meaning bookings and queries are handled as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Unlike other tour operators, Bunnik Tours includes international flights on a range of their small group tours and pays full commission on airfares. These flights are booked by their team of Travel Specialists to save agent’s time so they can get back to helping their customers.

Schedule changes, ticketing time limits, reissues, married segments and waitlists are OUR problem, not the travel agent’s.

Bunnik Tours have a range of travel styles to suit your clients’ needs.

This includes their ‘Short Tours’, which they have dramatically increased their tours in Europe for 2024.

Still making the most of their small group touring philosophy with a maximum of 20 guests and spacious coaches, Bunnik Tours ‘Short Tour’ travelling style gives travellers more flexibility by being able to book their own flights or combine multiple tours together at once.

The tours range from 8 to 14 days, visit one to two countries, and will take your guests to the heart of destinations like Austria and Slovenia, which is a new short tour option introduced this year.

This enchanting small group tour begins in the historically rich city of Vienna, before making its way through Salzburg, Innsbruck, Lake Bled and Ljubljana over the course of 11 days.

The next tour release, North Macedonia, is designed for those looking for a destination off the beaten track.

“This magnificent country isn’t overrun with tourism which means clients will get a very authentic eastern Europe/Balkan experience,” Bunnik said.

The tour begins in Skopje, the country’s capital and largest city, before making its way through Ohrid, Bitola and Kratovo over the course of 10 days.

“We are excited about broadening our selection of European short tours and can’t wait to introduce guests to North Macedonia through this fascinating new itinerary,” Bunnik concluded.

Bunnik Tours remains a wholly Australian owned family business and proudly independent! The family name stands behind every tour they sell.

To help you out at any time Bunnik Tours has a dedicated agent portal. HERE you can access training and marketing material to better support your clients.

Bunnik Tour and travel agent

It was good that Bunnik Tours can act as a regular Travel Agent and so I was able to coordinate another tour with another company without having to go through a separate travel agent. So far I have had an easy time organising my holiday to Italy. Thanks also to Nicky Bevan for being helpful.

Date of experience : 20 April 2024

Hello Elana, Thank you for your review here on Trustpilot. It's great to hear that your booking process has been simple and straightforward and that Nicky was able to assist with each piece of your arrangements! We're so looking forward to welcoming you on tour in Italy! Have a great time! Warm regards, Thomas Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

I have done 11 trips with Bunnik, great work by Victoria Hearn and now under the guidance of Paul Mck. Number 12 coming up soon. The work undertaken by the staff in Adelaide is the best, all my requests for extra nights, flight upgrades, extended stays well catered for; the guides on 10 of my trips were the best, only let down by a hopeless woman last year in Portugal/Spain. May do the trip again, if I'm guaranteed a better guide. Recommend Bunnik to anyone who will listen to me and look at my 12,000 + photos....

Date of experience : 25 April 2024

Hello Terry, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review here on Trustpilot. 12 trips...what an achievement! Have a fabulous time, and we look forward to hearing all about it upon your return! Warm regards, Thomas Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

Firstly- I booked the tour and then was…

Firstly- I booked the tour and then was told/ the all inclusive deal with air and land package was actually only for Australians!!! I had to fight as a New Zealander to have my flights included even though I always said I was flying out of Sydney. Also I still have not received baggage labels etc as bunnies only mail within Australia!!! Honestly how much does mail cost when you have spent over $30,000 with a your company, Otherwise was straightforward payment wise and emails were always replied to very quickly. Will be interesting- we have done may small group tours which to date have all been excellent/ so hope this continues!

Great Bunniks Travel Consultant

We had a great Bunniks Travel Consultant in Vicki Rothwell, who understood our plans, kept us up to date & was on top of everything we needed to know. It made the booking experience a seamless exercise. Just sorry we couldn't meet up with Vicki personally in Adelaide, but our plans fell through. Maybe next time!

Great tour options and coordination of travel

Excellent variety of tours offered and the fact the group size is capped at 20 is a big plus. Having previously toured with Bunnik, we had no hesitation in booking another two tours. Our travel specialist did a great job coordinating all our travel needs including the extra travel arrangements to catch up with our family in Italy once our tours finished.

Date of experience : 10 April 2024

Dear Mario & Linda, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! It's great to know that our variety of tours and small group size of max. 20 passengers have been factors in your decision to travel with us again. We believe that smaller group sizes allow for a more intimate and personalized experience, so it's wonderful to hear that this aspect of our tours has resonated with you. We're delighted to hear that Nicky was able to coordinate all your travel needs seamlessly, including the additional arrangements to meet up with your family in Italy after your tours conclude. We're grateful for your continued trust and support, and we can't wait to welcome you on your upcoming tours. If there's anything else we can assist you with before your travels, please don't hesitate to reach out. Safe travels and warm regards, Julie Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

Planning the trip has been easy

Lakshitha has been very helpful - always responds with clear info as requested. And if I ring when he is not there others are very helpful and able to answer all questions. Every step has been as advised so there has been no need to worry on my part and made planning for the trip easy.

Hello Jen, Thank you so much for taking the time to review us here on Trustpilot. It's wonderful to hear that Lakshitha and the team have done such a great job working together with you to organize your travel plans. We can't wait to welcome you on tour to tick another 5 beautiful countries off of your travel list! Have a fabulous time, and we look forward to hearing all about it upon your return. Warm regards, Thomas Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

We have previously travelled with…Bunniks, Trafalgar, Insight, Travel Marvel but can honestly say that Bunniks Tours are comprehensive and, comfortable, have great accommodation and Tour Directors.

We have previously travelled with Bunniks in 2019 on a brilliant tour of Jordan and Egypt, which we rate as our best overseas holiday yet. This time, we booked straight through Bunniks, not an external agent, and Penny Marling looked after us to the nth degree. Easy booki g service, excellent, friendly communication and all our questions answered promptly. Would highly recommend Bunniks to anyone.

Dear Stuart, Thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing Bunnik Tours once again for your overseas adventure! We're thrilled to hear that your previous tour with us in Jordan and Egypt was such a standout experience. Thank you for sharing about the service you received from Penny, she'll be thrilled to hear. We truly appreciate your recommendation and can't wait to create more unforgettable memories with you and Cherrilyn on your upcoming tour to beautiful Italy, Sicily & Malta! Warm regards, Julie Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

When I decided to do my upcoming tour…

When I decided to do my upcoming tour to the 5 Stans I contacted David Giddings at Bunniks. He has organised quite a few of my previous tours. For this tour I wanted extra time in Istanbul prior to the tour and as usual we discussed my plans and as usual he was able to put it all together. So am very happy with the service and assistance he has given me over the years and can recommend Bunnik tours

Date of experience : 12 April 2024

Dear Del, Thank you for your 5-star review, it means a lot to us as you have travelled with us many times over the years. Also thank you for your kind words about the service you received from Dave, I'll make sure he receives them. I know that Dennis is looking forward to travelling with you again, this time on our inaugural 5-Stans tour! Very exciting... As always, safe travels and we look forward to hearing all about your adventures via our tour survey once you're home! Warmest regards, Julie Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

David is your best asset

David is your best asset. He makes everything possible without fuss

Hello Anne, Thank you for posting a review here on Trustpilot! Your words are wonderfully kind, and we're so happy to hear that you have thoroughly enjoyed working with David to organise your travel journey. Not long to go until you depart! Have the most magnificent time on tour! Warm regards, Thomas Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

My opinion of the service I received from Bunnik 2 star

I spoke to Vicki about my tri to Japan. I then paid for my trip and have had no contact with Vicki or anybody else. There were occasions when I needed guidance on things like travel insurance and Vicki was never available. I certainly wouldn’t say the service supplied was anything other than 2 star treatment from Bunnik

Date of experience : 03 April 2024

Hello Diana, We're sorry to hear that you are disappointed with our service so far. I've had a look back over your booking history and can see that Vicki assisted with your initial enquiry in early February with regards to selecting your tour and the costing of your flights. Vicki then spent much of March overseas and I can see that another of our travel specialists assisted with obtaining your travel insurance. Vicki is a very experienced and professional travel specialist and I'm sorry that you were not able to take full advantage of her service on this occasion. We are very much looking forward to having you on tour with us in a few days and we wish you a wonderful time discovering the sites in Japan. Should we be able to assist you any further please contact us at: [email protected]. Warm regards, Julie Bunnik Tours - Customer Care

The tour was very well structured and organised. Everything was taken care of. There was no issues and no problems during travel. The tour guide was knowledgeable, helpful and a lot of fun. Many thanks to everyone who worked on that tour. It was a very pleasant experience and I look forward to travel with Bunnik Tours again.

Egypt and Jordan Discovery Tour

Full details below.

Who are Bunnik Tours? Bunnik Tours are a leading guided tour operating in Australia, with destinations around the world.  We are pleased to be able to offer access to their high quality tours here at Oasis Travel Cruise.   They are designated as 4 star tours.  Quality tours with an impeccable customer service record.  .

Adding additional touring in Saudi before or after is possible – or an MSC Cruise of the Arabian Gulf from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha (whichever your stopover point will be) – whatever you may wish to add before or after this Egypt and Jordan Tour by Bunnik Tours, we can assist with that.

Day 1 – Depart Australia

Day 2 – Arrive Amman

Welcome to Jordan, a country that is home to some of mankind’s earliest settlements. We begin in Amman, Jordan’s bustling and vibrant capital and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world.

We don’t want you to miss out on any aspect of your small group tour. To ensure that you don’t, we recommend you arrive at your starting destination by 5.00pm.

We’ll enjoy some free time to relax and freshen up, before meeting our fellow travellers at a group welcome dinner this evening.

day 3 – Amman – Jerash – Amman

This morning we will visit Jerash, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world. The ancient city was buried in sand before being gradually revealed through a series of excavations starting in 1925 and continuing to this day. We’ll tour through the colonnaded streets, amphitheatre, churches, temples and the vast Roman Forum.

Later, we’ll take a short drive to the impressive Ajloun Castle or ‘Qalaat Rabadh’ (Arabic for ‘Hilltop Castle’). This Islamic Castle was built in the 12th century and served as a military fort to protect the region from invading Crusader forces

SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

Delve into the Islamic practice of Arabic calligraphy at the Calligraphy House and try your hand at perfecting this ancient art form.

We’ll then return to Amman where the evening is at leisure.

(Breakfast)

Day 4 – Amman – Madaba – Dana

Dana is one of Jordan’s hidden gems. The 15th century stone village of Dana is a wonderful place to enjoy some village atmosphere and spectacular scenery.

En-route to Dana, we begin with a visit to the amazing Amman Citadel that is perched atop the Jabal Al Qal’a, one of the cities highest hills and one of the seven Jabals that originally made up the city. We will walk through this ancient ruin to gain insight into Jordan’s history while also enjoying incredible panoramic views.

Next we’ll stop in Madaba, known as ‘The City of Mosaics’, where underneath almost every house lies a fine Byzantine mosaic. We will visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St George, home to Madaba’s main attraction, a wonderfully vivid, 6th century Byzantine mosaic map showing the entire region from Jordan and Palestine in the north, to Egypt in the south. We’ll also stop at Mount Nebo, the centre for pilgrimages since the earliest Christian times. Mount Nebo is one of the most sacred holy sites of Jordan as it is said to be the place where Moses was buried.

We head to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dana Biosphere Reserve where we walk a section of the Dana Village Trail.

Dana Biosphere is Jordan’s largest nature reserve and home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna.

(Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 5 – Dana – Aqaba (Red Sea)

Jordan’s only coastal city, the picturesque Aqaba on the Red Sea is our destination for today. Aqaba is Jordan’s major tourism resort and only seaport, with its Red Sea coastline, fascinating history and prime location attracting thousands of tourists each year.

We will cruise through the crystal-clear waters of the Aqaba Marine Park on a glass bottom boat and enjoy a delicious lunch.

The evening is free to relax or explore more of Aqaba.

(Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 6 – Aqaba (Red Sea) – Wadi Rum

Today we’ll journey to the breathtaking Wadi Rum, a protected desert wilderness in southern Jordan. Traces of ancient civilisations exist in the many carved inscriptions to be found throughout the Wadi Rum area, from pictographs to Thamudic, Nabatean and Arabic texts. The most lasting monuments in Wadi Rum, however, are those carved by nature – the natural rock bridges, the towering rose-coloured sand dunes and vast peaks.

Enjoy an exclusive BBQ lunch in the heart of the Wadi Rum desert.

In one of the most stunning desertscapes in the world, we’ll take an exciting 4WD tour and spend an unforgettable night in a Bedouin-style desert camp.

(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7 – Wadi Rum – Petra

Today we make our way towards Petra, stopping to visit the fascinating ‘Little Petra’, also known as Siq al-Barid. Little Petra has a history dating back some 9,000 years and is one of the oldest archaeological sites in the Middle East. Famous for its ancient buildings sculpted out of solid red sandstone, Little Petra has been a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site since 1985.

Tonight, we’ll enjoy a group dinner at a local restaurant in Petra.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION

Camel Ride – Experience an iconic aspect of Bedouin life, taking a camel ride through Wadi Rum. 1 hour – from $25pp US (cash only).

Day 8 – Petra

Located in Jordan’s southwestern desert, Petra is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites.

This morning we explore the famous lost city of Petra on a guided tour. Carved into the sheer rockface by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago, it was an important junction for the silk and trade routes. Attracting visitors from all over the world, much of Petra’s appeal comes from its breathtaking setting deep inside a narrow desert gorge.

Our guide will explain the history of this great city and our tour will include a visit to Petra’s most famous monument, the Treasury. We will also visit Pharaoh’s Castle, the Triumphal Arch, the Amphitheatre situated near the top of a large hill and the stunning Monastery. The view from here is worth the climb!

After our guided tour, enjoy the rest of the day free to explore this delightful city independently.

CHALLENGING DAY

Today is a particularly challenging day, where there will be extended periods of walking time, often across uneven ground and in areas of high altitude or heat and humidity.

Day 9 – Petra – Dead Sea

If you’re feeling adventurous and like to rise early you could take the option to re-visit Petra this morning.

Leaving Petra, our first stop today is the incredible Shobak Castle, perched atop a hill that was formerly called Mons Realis or ‘Royal Mountain’. This imposing castle was built by the crusader King Baldwin I in 1115, and throughout history was the subject of numerous attacks, reflected through the site’s weathered architecture.

Next, we venture to the lowest point on Earth – the Dead Sea. As its name evokes, the Dead Sea is devoid of life due to the extremely high content of salts and minerals that give its waters its renowned curative powers, therapeutic qualities and buoyancy. Because the salt content is four times that of most oceans, you can float in the Dead Sea without even trying.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Why not take a dip in the Dead Sea and cover your body in the therapeutic mud, said to have amazing benefits for your skin?

Day 10 – Dead Sea – Amman – Cairo

We will transfer to the airport today, for our flight to Cairo. Set on the Nile River, Cairo is the capital and largest city of Egypt. Home to many famous Egyptian landmarks, visitors will find it to be a fascinating and often bewildering mixture of old and new.

Meet your guide and transfer to the hotel before a group dinner to welcome us to Egypt.

Day 11 – Cairo – Giza – Cairo

Our touring in Egypt begins at the oldest structures in existence and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the amazing Great Pyramids of Giza. We’ll visit the nearby Great Sphinx, with the body of a lion and the head of a king, often referred to as the national symbol of Egypt. Our tour will also take us to visit a weaving workshop, with an opportunity to purchase a locally made Egyptian carpet.

Take in the incredible views of the Great Pyramids of Giza while enjoying a delicious lunch at the 9 Pyramids Lounge.

We’ll also discover the incredible Step Pyramid of Sakkara, believed to have been designed by the famous vizier of King Zoser, Imhotep before continuing to the Pyramids of Dahshur. This site was used as funerary grounds beginning in the time of the Fourth Dynasty, where King Senefru built two of his three pyramids: the ‘Bent’ pyramid, named for the angle of the sides, & the ‘Red Pyramid’ named for the red limestone used in its construction.

Sound & Light Show at Giza – Taking place on the Giza plateau at the Great Pyramids at night. 1.5 hours – from $65pp US (cash only).

Day 12 – Cairo – Alexandria

After breakfast we will travel to the city of Alexandria on Egypt’s north coast. The port city located on the Mediterranean Sea was founded in 331 BC by Alexander the Great. Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt and is best known for the Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos) one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

We will take a half day tour around Alexandria and visit the Graeco Roman Museum, home to an array of artifacts from the Greco-Roman era that provide a fascinating glimpse into the civilisation of ancient Egypt. Other highlights include Pompey’s Pillar, the Catacombs, and the New Bibliotheca. Our last stop is for a photo at the Citadel of Qaitbay, a spectacular 15th century fortress overlooking the Mediterranean.

Day 13 – Alexandria – El Alamein – Cairo

Our journey takes us westward through the dunes along the Mediterranean coast, following the route of Field Marshal Montgomery to El Alamein. The coastal town was the site of two major battles between British and Axis forces during World War II.

Visit the Commonwealth War Cemetery and Military Museum associated with the Battle of El Alamein.

The cemetery encompasses 7,367 tombs of war victims from Britain, New Zealand, Australia, France, India and Malta. We’ll also stop to visit the El Alamein Military Museum including five main halls (representing the countries that participated in the battle) and view the unique paintings of the war scenes.

We’ll then return to Cairo and the evening is for you to explore at your leisure.

Day 14 – Cairo – Luxor

This morning we will fly to Luxor in Upper Egypt. Located on the east bank of the Nile River, the city surrounds two huge, surviving ancient monuments. Upon arrival we’ll meet our guide and transfer to the hotel before some sightseeing.

Our touring begins with a visit to the intriguing Luxor Heritage Centre & Public Library. Here we’ll get a chance to delve into the rich history and vibrant culture of Upper Egypt, a perfect introduction to this alluring region.

We continue on to the fascinating Karnak Temple, dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun. Approximately 30 pharaohs contributed to the temple’s structure over time, which explains its monumental size! We’ll then visit Luxor Temple, once connected to Karnak Temple by a 3-kilometre-long Avenue of Sphinxes. Luxor Temple is also home to a 25-metre-tall pink granite obelisk, which was part of a matching pair until the 1830s when one was given to France. It now stands in the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. We’ll also visit a local gallery to appreciate the ancient artform of papyrus craft, with an opportunity to purchase the artwork to take home.

Day 15 – Luxor

Take a half-day tour to Dendera Temple complex and see one of the best-preserved temples and most important sites of ancient Egypt, the Temple of Hathor (the goddess of pleasure and love).

Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to relax or explore at your own pace.

Sound & Light Show at Karnak Temple at night. 1.5 hours – from $65pp US. Cash only.

Day 16 – Luxor – Nile Cruise

This morning we discover the sights of Luxor on a half day tour. Our first destination is the spectacular Valley of the Kings. Serving as a royal burial chamber for around 500 years, it is home to legendary kings and queens, their families, and their possessions for the afterlife. Here we’ll explore tombs carved deep into the limestone rock, where each tomb has a similar pattern of three corridors, an antechamber and a sarcophagus chamber.

Descend underground into Tutankhamun’s Tomb, adorned with intricate corridors, ancient artefacts, and well-preserved hieroglyphic paintings.

Our next destination is the Temple of Hatshepsut. Queen Hatshepsut was one of only a few women to be given the title of pharaoh. We’ll then visit the Colossi of Memnon, a historic landmark consisting of two massive statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III. We then stop at a nearby alabaster workshop, to learn how the locally quarried stone is carved and crafted and can purchase a souvenir piece to take home if so inclined.

This afternoon we embark on our Nile River cruise ship. Lunch is served on board and the rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy at leisure.

Hot Air Balloon Ride over the West Bank in the early morning. Includes transport from hotel. 1.5 hours – from $170pp US (cash only).

Deir El Medina & Medinet Habu – Visit one of the most well-preserved ancient settlements in Egypt and the Mortuary Temple of Ramses ll. 3 hours – minimum 4 participants required – from $105pp US, including Nobles Tombs; from $160pp US, including Nefertari’s Tomb (cash only).

Day 17 – Nile Cruise

Today will be spent cruising along the Nile as we set sail for Edfu, crossing the lock at Esna and continuing south. So, kick back and relax as you take in the serene views of the passing Nile River.

Day 18 – Nile Cruise

Located on the west bank of the Nile River between Esna and Aswan you will find Edfu. The Egyptian city has a population of approximately sixty thousand people. It is famous for the Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God, the main attraction which we’ll visit this morning. This beautiful ancient temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt and the second largest after Karnak Temple. We’ll then cruise to the riverside Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris, before continuing to Aswan this evening.

Tonight, we enjoy a traditional Galabeya party on board.

Day 19 – Nile Cruise

An early start this morning as we cross the desert to Abu Simbel. Our destination is the incredible UNESCO listed twin temples of Abu Simbel. The temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, as a monument to himself and his queen, Nefertari. We will spend a few hours exploring the temples before returning to our Nile cruise ship. We’ll enjoy lunch on board and the afternoon is at your leisure.

Sound & Light Show at Philae Temple at night. 1.5 hours – from $65pp US (cash only).

Day 20 – Nile Cruise – Aswan

Today, we disembark the Nile cruise ship and bid farewell to the crew. Today will be spent exploring the incredible sights of Aswan. On a half day tour, we visit the High Dam and the picturesque Philae Temple on Agilkia Island.

Uncover the fascinating Nubian Museum, before navigating the waterways of the Nile to a Nubian village, visiting the local market and enjoying lunch with a Nubian family in their home.

We’ll return to our hotel where the evening is at leisure.

Day 21 – Aswan – Cairo

We’ll transfer to Aswan airport today, for our flight back to Cairo.

Upon arrival we’ll meet with our local guide and transfer to our hotel before an evening at leisure.

Day 22 – Cairo

We begin today in the heart of lively Cairo with a visit to the world-famous Egyptian Museum. We’ll then visit the 12th century Saladin Citadel of Cairo and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. Our last stop is the 14th century Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.

We’ll also visit a local jewelry shop that specialises in customised gold and silver cartouches, which will be available for purchase.

Tonight, we’ll enjoy a group farewell dinner.

Day 23 – Depart Cairo

Today marks the completion of our incredible adventure across Egypt and Jordan. Our tour concludes after breakfast this morning. We bid farewell to Egypt and begin our journey home. We hope you leave with fantastic memories!

A woman in central Asian heritage-style dress serves David Cameron a tray of finger food on the runway in front of red-carpeted stairs to his jet plane.

David Cameron under fire for hiring £42m luxury jet for central Asia tour

Foreign secretary’s use of Embraer Lineage 1000 follows £348,000 bill for James Cleverly’s eight-day trip in similar plane in 2023

David Cameron has been criticised for hiring a luxury jet worth an estimated £42m for a recent tour of central Asia.

The foreign secretary travelled on the Embraer Lineage 1000 for a five-day visit to Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia last week, the Mirror reported.

Union Aviation, the charter firm that operates the jet, said on its website that a sommelier helps pick the onboard wine selection and that it provides a food menu suitable for “the most demanding passengers”.

The plane’s other features include its own dining table, in addition to a separate relaxation zone with extra-long sofas.

The shadow attorney general, Emily Thornberry, posted on X: “I get that David Cameron may need to charter a plane when travelling to multiple countries in one week, but that does not justify spending hundreds of thousands of pounds at taxpayers’ expense to hire one of the most luxurious private jets on the market.”

Prior to Cameron’s tour, the government said the foreign secretary would use the visit to promote opportunities for British businesses and announce £50m of new funding to support the sovereignty and independence of states across the region.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: “The foreign secretary’s job requires him to travel abroad to pursue the UK’s interests. This was the most time effective way to do this in this instance. Value for money is taken into account in all travel decisions and costs are routinely published for transparency.”

Last year, Cameron’s predecessor James Cleverly was criticised for a bill of about €400,000 (£348,000) when he used the same type of plane for an eight-day tour of the Caribbean and Latin America.

Rishi Sunak has also been criticised for his fondness for short-distance air travel for journeys within the UK.

In February 2023 the prime minister travelled to London from Dorset by helicopter and flew back to south-west England by jet the next morning, Downing Street said.

The previous month, Sunak took domestic flights in RAF jets three times in 10 days . He took a 40-minute flight on a 14-seat aircraft to an event in Blackpool, Lancashire, where he took questions from the public. It came after flights to Scotland and Leeds.
