The Rapid Rise of the Clutch Pro Tour
- By Richard Cole
- August 1, 2023
The Clutch Tour , a third-tier golf tour recognized by the European Tour, was founded in 2020 by former professional golfer Tom Hayward, who wanted to create a more accessible and inclusive tour for players of all backgrounds and abilities. It was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted the schedules and incomes of many golfers, especially those at the lower levels of the sport. The Tour aimed to provide a safe and competitive environment for players to showcase their skills and earn a living from the game they love.
The Tour consists of four tiers: the Clutch Pro Tour, the Clutch Amateur Tour, the Clutch Junior Tour, and the Clutch Super Series. Each tier has its own schedule, prize money, and ranking system, but they all share the same vision of providing equal opportunities and exposure for male and female golfers.
The Clutch Pro Tour started with a few events in March 2020, before expanding to a full season of 15 events from June to October 2020. It attracted some notable players, such as Andy Sullivan, who won the Stoneham event in July 2020 with a record-breaking score of 27-under-par. The inaugural Order of Merit was won by Mitch Waite, who is currently playing on the European Challenge Tour.
The 2021 season saw the Tour grow in size and stature, with 22 official events and increased prize money. The tour also partnered with several sponsors, such as Mojo Masters, Bluespace Media, and Simplicity Digital. The season featured some impressive performances, such as Harley Smith’s win at the Prince’s Classic as an amateur, Curtis Knipes’ two victories at The Belfry and Remedy Oak, and Henry Sheridan-Mills’ double triumph at the Bluespace Media South of England Open and Kedleston Park Classic. The 2021 Order of Merit was won by Australian, Daniel Gaunt.
The 2022 season , titled as the Mizuno Next Gen Series for sponsorship reasons, was the third season of the Clutch Pro Tour and consisted of 25 events, including six majors, with a total prize fund of £700,000. The tour also offered 44 Challenge Tour, 5 DP World Tour and 1 LET invite for the top performers. Highlights included OJ Farrell, who won two events and finished second in the Order of Merit and George Bloor , who won the Mizuno Open, one of the majors, and also qualified for the Challenge Tour. The Order of Merit ultimately being won by Giles Evans with two wins and nine top-10 finishes.
In December 2022, it was announced that the Clutch Pro Tour and the Tartan Pro Tour would become official feeder tours to the Challenge Tour in place of the now-defunct PGA EuroPro Tour. The Clutch Pro Tour would offer Challenge Tour status to the top two players on the Order of Merit, as well as invitations to selected events for other high-ranked players.
The 2023 season saw another huge increase in prize money, with 15 Tier 1 events offering a guaranteed purse of £60,000 and another 3 events with a £100,000 purse. The total Tour purse for Tiers 1 & 2 was increased to an impressive £1.8 million. On top of that, the Tour will be providing over 40 invites onto the Challenge Tour and DP World Tour, helping to continue its core mission of developing up and coming talent. As of the end of July 2023, there have been 12 completed Tier 1 events, with Brandon Robinson Thompson leading the order of merit following three wins and six top-10s in the 9 tournaments played. Following his latest win at the end of June, Brandon followed this up by qualifying for the 151st British Open, where he made the cut, eventually finishing 59th. With 5 more events remaining in the season before the Tour Championship at Royal Norwich, it promises to be another exciting season on the Tour.
The Clutch Pro Tour is a remarkable success story that showcases the resilience and talent of professional golfers in the UK. It has provided a platform for players to showcase their skills, earn a living, and progress their careers during challenging times. More importantly, it has also attracted attention from fans, media, sponsors, and other tours, who have recognized the quality and potential of the tour and its players. The Clutch Pro Tour is not only a feeder tour to the Challenge Tour and the DP World Tour hierarchy; it is also a tour that stands on its own merits and delivers exciting golf entertainment.

Six big Masters talking points – part one: The Irish
Is this to be Tiger’s Augusta swan song?
Cameron Raymond came up just short at the Clutch pro tour event at Slaley Hall. Raymond shot a 1-under-par 71 to finish in solo second,1 shot behind winner Jack South. Raymond started fast with birdies on the first two holes and another on the 6th, but a double bogey on the 9th derailed his challenge.
Overnight leader John-ross Galbraith faded with 5 bogeys for a 3-over-par 75 and a tie for 4th place.
Raymond told the Irish Golfer he got nervous on the back nine but says he is happy with his work overall.
“I’m a little bit disappointed with today. I was poor on the back nine, mainly the last 6 holes. Most likely a bit of anxiety creeping in, I had an eye on the leaderboard so I knew where I was at and I struggled hitting it close. I had some nice up and downs coming in, a nice up and down on the last and Jack made a nice two putt on the last to win”, he said
Raymond is now looking to switch his focus to the challenge tour and is hopeful of a place in the co-sanctioned event at the ISPS Handa at Galgorm next week.
“The last month or so my golf has been pretty solid, not a whole lot of mistakes, definitely trending in the right direction. I’m guessing that’s my card kept on the clutch tour so i’m going to try and shift my focus a bit with a couple of challenge tour events coming up and hoping to sneak into ISPS Handa next week”.
Raymond is hoping to take his new found form into the rest of the season after a tough year last year.
“Things have been great. I’ve been grinding with my coach and I’m really happy with this week. It was tough last year being out injured, coming back this year and getting off to an ok start but the last six weeks since Galgorm have been pretty solid, I’ve been enjoying it a lot. Hopefully some opportunities come now and I can kick on ahead of Q-school”.
It was a disappointing day for Raymond’s playing partner Stuart Grehan. Grehan shot a 6-over-par 78 to fall to a tie for 30th place. Conor O’Rourke shot a 7-over-par 79 to fall to a tie for 48th on 2-over-par.

2024 Masters preview: Rory McIlroy's quest, Tiger Woods' streak, and LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour
Everything you need to know as PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars descend upon Augusta National for The Masters.
Michael Corvo
The 2024 Masters should be as rife with storylines as azaleas. Tiger Woods has been prowling around Augusta National Golf Club. Rory McIlroy gets his 10th crack at the career Grand Slam. LIV Golf League stars , including defending champion Jon Rahm, will test their might against PGA Tour regulars, most notably World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
The relatively small field for the 88th Masters features 89 golfers — a mixture of PGA Tour stalwarts, marquee LIV defectors, and a smattering of past champs, amateurs, and special invites. The top 50 scorers (plus ties) after 36 holes will make the cut.
The prize money payout and exact purse are yet to be announced (Rahm took home $3.2 million of the $18 million purse in 2023). 750 FedEx Cup points will be awarded to the winner should he hail from the PGA Tour.
In addition to a green jacket and a name etched in history, the Masters champ earns a shiny bust of the clubhouse, lifetime eligibility, and the challenge of topping Rahm's Champions Dinner menu .
Phil Mickelson (min. 100 rounds), Tiger Woods (75-99 rounds), and Rory McIlroy (50-74 rounds) own the lowest scoring averages in tournament history.
If we're being honest, the Masters hasn't produced Sunday drama since Tiger in 2019, though part of that has been weather-related. As of now, the forecast calls for rain and wind on Thursday.
Here's what else to know ahead of the Masters.

2024 Masters Preview
Course notes.
Augusta National, a par 72, was elongated to 7,555 yards this year, thanks to the tee box at the par-5 2nd being moved back and to the left by 10 yards (the only substantial course alteration ). Traditionally, the 2nd and the 545-yard Par-5 13th have played as the venue's easiest holes.
A first look at the new tee on No. 2 — Pink Dogwood. #themasters pic.twitter.com/luDhBQX0VM — The Masters (@TheMasters) April 5, 2024
Augusta's signature stretch is Amen Corner , comprised of the par-4 11th , the par-3 12th, and the par-5 13th, bisected by Rae's Creek.
The 12th is probably the most recognizable par-3 in golf. It's only 155 yards, but the wind and pressure create a stiff precision test. It's the only hole that has never seen its yardage change.
In terms of style, Augusta, by design, rewards experience, creativity, and strategic aggression. Second-shot/approach accuracy supersedes power.
The favorite: Scottie Scheffler ( +450 outright , per FanDuel)
Scheffler will make his first start since his putt on 18 at the Texas Children's Houston Open lipped out , depriving him of three straight victories. (Scheffler dominated the Arnold Palmer Invitational and overcame neck pain to close the Players Championship.)
Nobody is sniffing Scheffler at the moment. He leads the PGA Tour in 2024 in Strokes Gained (SG): Total and SG: Approach, and he's fourth in SG: around the green. He won the Masters in 2022. He has top-10s in eight of his last 11 majors.
Assuming he strikes the ball as usual, Scheffler can contend at Augusta without putting great — he ranks 99th in SG: putting — but he'll need to execute at least a handful of timely rolls. If so, he'll be borderline impossible to beat. Keyword: borderline.
Hideki Matsuyama, outright (+2200) : Matsuyama's Sunday 62 at the Genesis Invitational remains arguably the most impressive round on the PGA Tour in 2024. Matsuyama also contended at the API and Players. He's coming off a T7 at the Valero Texas Open.
The 2021 Masters champ has been a mainstay in the top 20 at Augusta throughout his career.
Si-Woo Kim, Top 10 (+450) : At 28 years old, Kim already has a wealth of Augusta experience: Eight starts, seven made cuts. He's 9-for-9 on cuts in 2024 and contended at TPC Sawgrass.
Brian Harman, Top 10 (+500) : The reigning Open champ has been solid in 2024, factoring into the Sentry, API, and Players. The Georgia Bulldog hasn't missed a cut since July, and will surely want to contend in his home state.
Russell Henley, Top 20 (+150) : Henley flies under the radar but he's amongst the steadiest competitors on the PGA Tour. Henley is elite with his irons, contributing to a T4 at ANGC last year. He rarely misses a cut.
Corey Conners, Top 20 (+190) : Based on his ball-striking ceiling and statistical profile, Conners is a reasonable pick for every PGA Tour stop, and the Masters is no exception. Outside of two Valeros, however, his putting has kept him out of the winner's circle. Ideally, his iron play will create makeable putts this week.
One and Done — Matt Fitzpatrick (+4000): Fitzpatrick's PGA Tour season has been random. The 2022 U.S. Open champ missed cuts at the Genesis and API, then pulled out a back-door fifth place at TPC Sawgrass. In February, he realized he had been using the wrong weight on his driver for months.
The 29-year-old Englishman has a strong track record in majors, including two top-10s at Augusta. Nobody would be stunned to see Fitz atop the leaderboard.
Collin Morikawa (+250), Justin Thomas (+270), Jordan Spieth (+370) to miss the cut:
I want these major champions on the course this weekend, and I'm certainly not expecting all three to come up short. I just can't trust them right now.
Since turning pro in 2020, Morikawa has ranked in the top three on the PGA Tour in SG: Approach. Not coincidentally, his track record at Augusta has been strong, with a pair of top 10s before an MC in '23. This season, though, he's 80th on approach. His last three results? A missed cut at the API, T45 at the Players, and T75 at the Valero.
Thomas seemed to be emerging from his year-long fun, until missed cuts at Riviera, Sawgrass, and a T64 at Innisbrook. His approach game ranks sixth, but his putting ranks 174th. Parting ways with a prolific caddie the week before the Masters doesn't exactly engender optimism.
Spieth will always have the short-game chops to win green jackets. That said, 2024 has been a roller-coaster for the 2015 Masters champ — best evidenced by his recent adventure at TPC San Antonio.

(Of course, Spieth finished 10th.)
Other plausible contenders: Nick Taylor, Sam Burns, Taylor Moore, Shane Lowry, Bryson DeChambeau
Key storylines
- At this stage of Rory McIlroy ‘s career, nothing matters besides the Masters. He missed the cut in 2021 and 2023 but was T2 in 2022, and has finished top-10 in seven of his past nine majors overall. He's been plagued by giant mistakes in 2024, and his elite driving has been wiped out by erratic approach performance. But, Rory is coming off his first top-1o of the year, at the Valero — where his approach game was elite — and a reassuring pilgrimage to swing guru Butch Harmon. The pressure will be immense.
- Jon Rahm has four top-10s in four LIV appearances. He's finished top-10 in five of his last six Masters starts. Rahm will be joined by 12 LIV mates — seven of whom own green jackets. Fortunately, thanks to last year's tournament, we know that LIV players can show up to Augusta and hang. We know it won't lead to audience growth for LIV. And, we know that once the golf starts, that's all anybody will be focused on — at least for four glorious days.
- Cameron Smith is the LIV player I'm most intrigued by. He's finished T2 and T3 at Augusta, thanks to a short game tailor-made for the hallowed venue. The 30-year-old Aussie has already won a Players and an Open. His inconsistent health has rendered his LIV results tricky to gauge, and he withdrew from last weekend's LIV Miami due to illness.
- Brooks Koepka will be laser-focused on avenging his 2023 second-place. Koepka, openly indifferent to non-majors, is one of the most prolific major participants ever: 17 top-seven finishes, five wins.
- In total, 18 green jacket winners are in the '24 field: Tiger, Phil, Spieth, Scheffler, Rahm, Matsuyama, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Jose Maria Olazabal, Fred Couples, Vijay Singh, Mike Weir, Zach Johnson, Danny Willett, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed and Adam Scott. DJ set the tournament scoring record in 2020 (20-under 268).
- Can Max Homa , Xander Schauffele , Tony Finau , Viktor Hovland, or Patrick Cantlay get serious? At least one of these top-20 guys has to break through a major … right? The PGA Tour would surely love a few of its stars not named Scheffler to make a grand statement. Schauffele has a case for the tour's second-best player in 2024, with six top 10s in eight starts.
Xander Schauffele with a masterful tee shot on No. 12 during today's practice round. #themasters pic.twitter.com/k3ldeQaM1l — The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 2024
- I'm pumped to watch Sahith Theegala and W ill Zalatoris . Theegala finished ninth in his Masters debut in 2023 — highlighted by an electric chip-in on Sunday. The 24-year-old has since won his first PGA Tour event (Fortinet Championship) and registered three top 10s in 2024. Theegala is of the Bubba/Spieth/Phil/Burns ilk — casually creative, bold, and inventive. In other words: just what Augusta is looking for.
- Zalatoris' T2 at Riviera was hugely encouraging post-back-surgery, though his putter has since let him down. The 27-year-old boasts a sterling track record in majors , with six T8s or better in nine starts. Willy Z has already banked a runner-up and T6 at the Masters. He's an absurd ball-striker who can win any golf tournament with half-decent putting.
Tiger Woods and Will Zalatoris embrace the skipping tradition at No. 16. #themasters pic.twitter.com/MpHrP6hng0 — The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 2024
- Three players received special invitations from ANGC: Joaquin Niemann (for his work in non-LIV tournaments), Thorbjorn Olesen , and 2023 DP World Tour Rookie of the Year Ryo Hisatsune , the 21-year-old from Japan. Considering Niemann's well-publicized efforts to earn a place in the field, his dominance on LIV (two wins this season), and his triumph at the 2022 Genesis — Riviera success correlates to Augusta — all eyes will be on the talented 25-year-old Chilean this week.
- Amateurs in the field: Jasper Stubbs, Neil Shipley, Santiago De La Fuente, Stewart Hagestad, Christo Lamprecht. The 6-foot-8 Lamprecht, a senior at Georgia Tech, is the top-ranked amateur in the world. He led the 2023 Open Championship after Round 1. An amateur has never won a green jacket, though Sam Bennett began Saturday in the penultimate group last year.
- Akshay Bhatia secured the final spot in the field — and his first Masters appearance — with his thrilling playoff win over Denny McCarthy at TPC San Antonio. (The 22-year-old prodigy will become the first Drive, Chip & Putt finalist to start at Augusta.) Bhatia will have to navigate the shoulder injury he suffered fist-pumping on the 18th green at the Valero. “I'm hoping my shoulder should be good, but I might be a little scared to hit some shots, and we just have to find out tomorrow,” he said Monday. McCarthy, meanwhile, will hope his putter stays historically hot through the drive down Magnolia Lane.
- Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Aberg, Grayson Murray , Lee Hodges , Adam Schenk , Nick Dunlap , Peter Malnati, Adrian Meronk , Nicolai Hojgaard , Matthieu Pavon , Byeong-Hun An , Stephan Jaeger , Eric Cole , Austin Eckroat , and Jake Knapp will also be making Masters debuts.
- Aberg, 24, is already ranked No. 9 in the world. He hasn't even played in a major, yet has a Ryder Cup, a PGA Tour win, and two 10s in 2024 Signature Events. His positive across-the-board stats align with the aesthetic beauty of his swing. Is he ready?
- Clark went from journeyman at 29 to No. 2 player in the world at 30. He's coming off runner-ups at Bay Hill and TPC Sawgrass, though recently tweaked his back . He possesses the iron game, shot-crafting, and refined mental approach to win a jacket. He ranks 10th in approach, ninth in tee-to-green, and second in total SG in 2024. Only three players have won in their first appearance at Augusta, and none since 1979. However, it's unprecedented to have two players this accomplished making their debuts.
- Tom Kim explained to me why he loves the Augusta locker rooms (once he found them ), so hopefully, that helps him find his game, too. Fellow Full Swing subject Rickie Fowler — making just his second appearance since 2020 — has also struggled in 2024.
- Luke List has missed every cut since his T2 at Riviera, though he does live in Augusta. Smart man.
- Phil Mickelson is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his first of three Masters wins. Somehow, Lefty ended up with a back-door runner-up in 2023, thanks to an out-of-nowhere Sunday 64. On the course, the 53-year-old has been largely irrelevant on LIV.
- Finally, Tiger Woods is vying for a record 24th consecutive Masters cut . He's also hoping to complete four rounds of a PGA Tour event for the first time since February 2023. The 15-time major champion may not agree, but at this point, sticking around through the weekend would count as a hugely successful result for the 48-year-old.

“He played great today,” Zalatoris said Monday about Woods. “He outdrove me a couple times, so there was some chirping going on. He looks great. He's moving as well as he can be.”
Expectations have literally never been lower for Tiger Woods at the Masters, and that's a good thing.

2024 Masters odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from same golf model that's nailed 10 majors
T here is a gap between Scottie Scheffler and the rest of the 2024 Masters field according to oddsmakers. Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, is the 5-1 favorite in the 2024 Masters odds. Scheffler has won two of his last three starts on the PGA Tour and finished 10th or better in his last six tournaments. Should your 2024 Masters picks include backing the clear-cut favorite, or should you look elsewhere in the 2024 Masters lineup for value?
The Masters 2024 field is loaded with major champions, including Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Tiger Woods, and play gets underway from Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday. Before locking in any 2024 Masters picks of your own, entering picks on sites like DraftKings or FanDuel, or finalizing Masters props and Masters Pick Six entries, be sure to see the 2024 Masters golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .
SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
McClure's model predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.
The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.
In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend, including the past two Masters. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
Now that the Masters 2024 field finalized, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.
Top 2024 Masters predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Masters: Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion and one of the co-favorites, fails to complete the career grand slam and barely cracks the top five at Augusta National. The world's No. 2-ranked golfer is off to a rough start in 2024, with his highest finish through his first five starts being 19th at the Players Championship.
Putting was an issue for McIlroy at the start of the season, as he previously ranked 129th in that area (-0.246). While he has improved to 83rd on the PGA Tour (0.036) and his total shots gained (0.610) is 40th, he is still 123rd in shots gained approaching the green (-0.176). While there appears to be small improvements in his game, his finishes this season are why the model is low on him.
Another surprise: Justin Thomas, a 28-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Thomas is a seasoned veteran on the PGA Tour and will make his ninth appearance at the Masters. He has secured a top-25 finish in six of his past seven starts at Augusta National, finishing fourth in 2020 and eighth in 2022.
Thomas is a two-time major champion and enters the 2024 Masters Tournament ranked fifth in strokes gained: approach to green (0.795). He's struggled on the green this season, but if he's able to drain putts this week, he'll have a shot at being in contention on Sunday. See who else to pick here .
How to make 2024 Masters picks
The model is also targeting four other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer to make a strong run at the green jacket. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

2024 Masters odds, picks, golf predictions: Tiger Woods projection from same model that's hit last 2 winners
Tiger woods, an 82-time pga tour champion, is expected to be part of the 2024 masters field at augusta national golf club.
Brooks Koepka became the third golfer born since 1960 to win five majors when he took down the 2023 PGA Championship, joining Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Unlike Woods (100-1) and Mickelson (100-1), Koepka is one of the top 2024 Masters contenders at 21-1 odds. He is tied with Jordan Spieth, Will Zalatoris and Viktor Hovland for the fourth-shortest Masters odds 2024, while Scottie Scheffler is the 13-4 favorite. Rory McIlroy (10-1) and Jon Rahm (12-1) are also two of the 2024 Masters golfers heading into the first round on Thursday, April 11.
Woods has won five times at Augusta National, including his unlikely victory in 2019, but it could take a heroic effort for him to win a sixth green jacket this year. He has only played in one tournament this season, which resulted in a withdrawal at the Genesis Invitational in February. Before locking in your 2024 Masters picks or Tiger Woods props, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Now that the Masters 2024 field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.
Top 2024 Masters predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Masters: Patrick Cantlay, a 28-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Cantlay is one of the top golfers on the PGA Tour who is still seeking his first major victory as he gets set for his eighth appearance at Augusta National. He earned Low Amateur honors in 2012 and has three top-20 finishes in the past five years at this event.
Cantlay was the 2021 PGA Tour Player of the Year and represented the United States in the Ryder Cup last October. He has recorded top-12 finishes in Maui, Pebble Beach and Los Angeles already this year after posting seven top-five finishes in 2023. Cantlay has eight career PGA Tour wins, so the model is confident that a breakthrough major win could be right around the corner.
The model has also examined where Tiger Woods finishes. The 15-time major champion last played competitively at the Genesis Invitational in February, when he withdrew after one round due to an illness. Reaching the finish line of a tournament has been an issue for Woods since returning from his Feb. 2021 car crash. Over the seven ensuing competitive events, he's played all four rounds just three times, while also withdrawing three times and missing one cut.
However, no one knows Augusta quite like Woods, and while full-timers on tour have to go through the grind of weekly tournaments, Woods can focus his attention on this event. He's shot under par in all four rounds of a single Masters tournament a record five times, while no other golfer has more than three. He also owns the all-time lowest scoring average at Augusta of 71.1 (min. 40 rounds), and only Jack Nicklaus (15) has more top-fives at the course than Woods' 12. The model just locked in its Tiger Woods Masters picks here .

The model is also targeting six golfers with Masters odds of 20-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's PGA picks here .

Georgia native Steven Fisk wins Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club
Daily Wrap Up
Change Text Size
SAVANNAH, Ga. – Steven Fisk is Georgia through and through. He was born in Atlanta and grew up on a par-3 course and driving range his father built (and still operates) in his childhood hometown of Stockbridge. He played college golf for Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, a little under 200 miles from home. He and his wife, Edith, wed last month in Augusta. And Sunday evening in Savannah, roughly an hour drive from Georgia Southern, the 26-year-old Fisk earned his first Korn Ferry Tour win.
Fisk birdied three of the final four holes of regulation and defeated Rob Oppenheim in a sudden-death playoff, capturing the 2024 Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club with a two-putt par on the Deer Creek Course’s par-5 18th hole.
“Such a long day that somehow went by really fast at the same time,” Fisk said. “To get my first win right here in Savannah, so close to where I went to school, is kind of crazy. I haven’t had much success here in the past, but to get it done today is extra special to be this close to what’s kind of my adopted home.”
Fisk began the final round one stroke off the lead but trailed Oppenheim by three strokes with four holes to play. Back-to-back birdies at the par-4 15th and 16th, followed by a clutch par save at the par-3 17th, opened the door for a tying birdie at No. 18. Fisk came within inches of a hole-out eagle from the greenside bunker, but tapped in for a bogey-free 4-under 68 and matched Oppenheim at 14-under 274.
Steven Fisk nearly holes bunker shot at Club Car Championship
For the fourth consecutive event, the winner would be determined via a playoff, tying the Korn Ferry Tour record for consecutive events with a playoff. The previous instances occurred in 2004 and 2019.
In the playoff, Fisk found the right side of the fairway, while Oppenheim drove it into a fairway bunker up the same side. Both had chip shots from behind the green, with Fisk’s rolling out to roughly 12 feet. After Fisk’s two-putt par, Oppenheim had a 7-footer for par which would have extended the playoff. It grazed the left edge of the cup but never fell, sealing the win for Fisk.
“Definitely could feel the crowd on my side,” said Fisk, whose gallery included his wife, parents, as well as his former head coach and several members of the Georgia Southern golf program. “I had a great group of people following me all week, and for them to come out and continue to support me is so special.”
Fisk’s victory in his home state was more than two decades in the making.
When Fisk was 4 or 5 years old, his father, Christopher, built Rum Creek Golf, a nine-hole par-3 course with a driving range and putting green. Even in its infancy, when there was more dirt than sod laid, young Fisk had a club in his hand. By the time he turned 8 years old, Christopher said his son’s hands looked as though they belonged to a bricklayer. As he grew up, Fisk played the par-3 course four or five, maybe even six times a day.
Fisk developed a strong iron game and a unique grip, with the latter eliciting a wide range of critiques through the years.
“If you ask anybody else, my grip probably sucks,” Fisk said. “But I’ve always done it this way. I’ve tried to tinker with it over the years with my coach. It’s just not something I’ve ever been able to get comfortable with. I figured if I’m going to have success in this game, I’m going to do it my way and be stubborn, and do everything I can to make myself the best player I can be and rely on some of my natural instincts.”
Steven Fisk holes lengthy putt for birdie at Club Car Championship
Unique grip and all, Fisk racked up nine career wins in four seasons at Georgia Southern, including six as a senior in the 2018-19 season. Fisk capped his collegiate career with a runner-up finish at the 2019 NCAA Championship and turned professional.
After an undistinguished 2021 season on the Forme Tour (a one-year substitute for PGA TOUR Canada amid the COVID-19 pandemic), Fisk earned Korn Ferry Tour membership and guaranteed starts with a T19 finish at Q-School. A year later, Fisk was right back at Final Stage of Q-School, as he finished No. 119 on the 2022 Korn Ferry Tour Points List with 13 missed cuts in 21 starts.
The second time around was much different for Fisk, who spent nearly the entire 2023 season inside the top 75 and finished No. 64 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, earning fully exempt status for the 2024 season.
The flexibility of fully exempt status was a blessing for Fisk, as the Korn Ferry Tour events in Argentina and Chile bumped up against his and Edith’s wedding plans. Without fear of reshuffles or a significant setback on the Points List, Fisk skipped the two events and hardly worried about the results.
Although the newlyweds were only able to vacation for a few days in Florida following the wedding, they discussed a proper honeymoon. Edith had her heart set on Cabo San Lucas.
“I told her we’d see how the year went,” Fisk said. “I think she’s looking pretty good right now.”
