Dark Star Orchestra Add October 2023 Tour Dates

Dark Star Orchestra have announced a pair of October tour dates. The new concert appearances will arrive during the Grateful Dead tribute band’s impending fall tour, which is expected to drop in full shortly.

The group’s first newly announced show will occur on Saturday, Oct. 14 at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, followed by a gig at Washington, D.C.’s The Anthem, the following weekend, on Oct. 21. The pair of concerts, are the first of the group’s fall tour to be announced to the public, according to their official post via social media. 

The October dates serve as Dark Star Orchestra’s only fall concerts on the books, arriving after a full-fledged summer tour, which kicks off over three-days,  July 7 through 9 at Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole, Wy. 

In addition to the fall dates, Dark Star Orchestra recently announced their annual Jam in the Sand event, which will unfold from Jan. 9, 2024 through Jan. 12, 2024 in Runaway, Jamacia. A part from the event hosts, additional guests include Melvin Seals & JGB, Circles Around The Sun and Donna The Buffalo. Learn more .

Dark Star Orchestra Announces NYE Run + Adds Dates to 25th Anniversary Fall Tour

Today Dark Star Orchestra announces their Cosmic New Year's Run. The band will perform a pair of shows at the State Theatre in Portland, ME on December 28 & 29, and then ring in 2023 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on December 30 & 31! Tickets to the Cosmic New Year's Run shows go on sale this Friday, details, more information and tickets are available at www.darkstarorchestra.net .

Additionally, more dates have been added to Dark Star Orchestra's 25th Anniversary Tour! The band adds stops in Nashville, IN, Cleveland, OH, and Montclair, NJ to the Fall Tour schedule.

Progressive jam giants Umphrey's McGee‘s return to Las Vegas for the seventh installment of the massively popular UMBowl production was marked once again by a stand-out tour closing dual evening extravaganza where all stops were pulled out and the power given directly to the fans, for better or for worse.

On June 24, Round Records & ATO Records will release GarciaLive Volume Six: July 5, 1973 – Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders, the latest installment of the celebrated GarciaLive archival series. The three-CD set was recorded at the 200 capacity Lion’s Share club formerly located in the small town of San Anselmo, CA, just 20 miles north of San Francisco. The performance features Jerry Garcia performing with friend, mentor and legendary keyboardist/vocalist Merl Saunders. The duo is joined by drummer Bill Vitt and bassist John Kahn, who soon became a lifelong Garcia collaborator.

Show was great musicaly, the venue Maine State Pier needs to do away with the fence thru the middle og crowd, i guess one side is drinking free but you have to go to thedrinking side for water and you have to go to the sober side for bathroom, all this side switching occurs at one small break in the fence. i felt like a sardine at times. parking was wayyyy to much.

I've had the privlege of seeing Dark Star Orchestra quite a few times. I try to always see them when they are in the area. They are the best Grateful Dead cover band in my opinion. They're unique in the fact that they recreate an actual Greatful Dead show that was done in their extensive career. I've never had a bad show, NIR have ever witnessesed anyone else having a bad time! I recommend everyone see them at least one time. Guaranteed, it won't be the last! And, their sound is spot on. You'll feel as,if you're at an actual Grateful Dead show. The tickets are very affordable, and believe me, you'll get a bang for your buck! Check them out for yourself,I'm positive you'll agree!

Dark Star Orchestra has performed throughout the entire United States, including a sold out debut at Colorado’s Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater, plus shows in Europe and the Caribbean with the band touching down in seven different countries. DSO continues to grow its fan base by playing at larger venues for two and even three-night stands, as well as performing at major music festivals including Bonnaroo, Milwaukee’s SummerFest, The Peach Music Festival, Jam Cruise, Wanee Festival, SweetWater 420 Festival, Mountain Jam, and many more.

In addition to appearing at some of the nation’s top festival, Dark Star Orchestra hosts its own annual music festival and campaign gathering, titled the “Dark Star Jubilee”, currently in its eighth year where DSO headline all three nights and are joined by a mix of established and up and coming national touring acts. Beyond the shores of the United States, DSO has taken its internationally-acclaimed Grateful Dead tribute to the beaches of Jamaica in the dead of winter for the past six years, with their event appropriately titled ‘Jam in the Sand’. Featuring an ocean-side stage, DSO sets up camp to perform shows for four nights along the tropical sands of an all-inclusive resort, selling out the event each year for hundreds of lucky attendees.

Fans and critics haven’t been the only people caught up in the spirit of a Dark Star show. The band has featured guest performances from six original Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay, Vince Welnick, Tom Constanten and even toured with longtime Dead soundman, Dan Healy. Other notable guests have included Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman of Phish, Keller Williams, Warren Haynes, Steve Kimock, Peter Rowan, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot and many more. “For us it’s a chance to recreate some of the magic that was created for us over the years,” keyboardist and vocalist Rob Barraco explains. “We offer a sort of a historical perspective at what it might have been like to go to a show in 1985, 1978 or whenever. Even for Deadheads who can say they’ve been to a hundred shows in the 90s, we offer something they never got to see live.”

Dark Star Orchestra Details 2024 Winter Tour Dates

Dark Star Orchestra will carry the flame of the Grateful Dead experience into 2024 with a 12-date tour focused around the West Coast.

After kicking off on January 24th in Tempe, AZ, the tour will continue with a run in the Dead’s native California with stops in Del Mar, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Menlo Park, San Francisco, Monterey, and Napa. DSO will then shoot up like a north-bound train for three stops in the Pacific Northwest including Bend, OR, Bellingham, WA, and Seattle, WA. The tour will conclude in Portland, OR on February 10th.

An artist pre-sale for the early-2024 Dark Star Orchestra tour dates will begin Wednesday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. local time for select shows with code: RIPPLE. Tickets for all shows will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 27th at 10 a.m. local.

Dark Star Orchestra will return to the road next month for a run of 2023 fall tour dates in the Midwest and East Coast culminating in the band’s New Year’s celebration at The Capitol Theatre on December 30th and 31st. Dark Star Orchestra offers much more than the sound of the Grateful Dead, they truly encapsulate the energy and the experience. It’s about a sense of familiarity. It’s about that contagious energy…in short, it’s about the complete experience and consistent quality show that the fan receives when attending a Dark Star Orchestra show.   Dark Star Orchestra has performed throughout the entire United States, including a sold out debut at Colorado’s Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater, plus shows in Europe and the Caribbean with the band touching down in seven different countries. DSO continues to grow its fan base by playing at larger venues for two and even three-night stands, as well as performing at major music festivals including Bonnaroo, Milwaukee’s SummerFest, The Peach Music Festival, Jam Cruise, Wanee Festival, SweetWater 420 Festival, Mountain Jam, and many more.   In addition to appearing at some of the nation’s top festival, Dark Star Orchestra hosts its own annual music festival and campaign gathering, titled the “Dark Star Jubilee”, currently in its eighth year where DSO headline all three nights and are joined by a mix of established and up and coming national touring acts. Beyond the shores of the United States, DSO has taken its internationally-acclaimed Grateful Dead tribute to the beaches of Jamaica in the dead of winter for the past six years, with their event appropriately titled ‘Jam in the Sand’. Featuring an ocean-side stage, DSO sets up camp to perform shows for four nights along the tropical sands of an all-inclusive resort, selling out the event each year for hundreds of lucky attendees.   Fans and critics haven’t been the only people caught up in the spirit of a Dark Star show. The band has featured guest performances from six original Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay, Vince Welnick, Tom Constanten and even toured with longtime Dead soundman, Dan Healy. Other notable guests have included Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman of Phish, Keller Williams, Warren Haynes, Steve Kimock, Peter Rowan, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot and many more. “For us it’s a chance to recreate some of the magic that was created for us over the years,” keyboardist and vocalist Rob Barraco explains. “We offer a sort of a historical perspective at what it might have been like to go to a show in 1985, 1978 or whenever.
