Queen were a British rock band originally consisting of 4 members – Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon. Officially, the band is considered a rock band but in fact, its music was so diversified that it is really hard to count to among one specific genre.
Mostly they played many different kinds of rock but there are also pop ballads and much harder sounds. However, regardless the music genres the band played one is certain, Queen was the music band of all time. Though the leader and incontestable star of the band was Freddie Mercury, these were actually Brian May and Roger Taylor that decided to set up the band. Before they had used to play in another rock band – “Smile”.
Smile was not very popular band but it had its devoted fans. One of them was a certain Farrokh Bulsara who thereafter started to use a pseudonym instead of his real name – that was actually Freddie Mercury . Finally, Farrokh joined the group. The name of the band was an idea of Farrokh. For the first three years they were playing in trio. It changed right before their very first album release. Then they invited John Deacon to cooperation. The beginnings were not easy.
Their first album remained meaningless. But once they recorded their second album the world has finally heard about them! The album named Queen II charted in the UK. Then, they released “Bohemian Rhapsody” . This single was a total bull’s eye. It stayed at number one in the whole Unitet Kingdom for more then two months! Next albums were only better. A few singles from “News of the World” have become anthems at the most important world’s sporting events and actually they are very actual nowadays as well.
Well, after all, Queen has released almost 20 number-one albums and the same amount of singles. It is also worth mentioning that Queen influenced on the music video industry. They popularised it widely and released 10 number-one DVDs.

Heh, those times when men were wearing tight pants, mustache, taped hair and leather. Anyway, they were really lucky that Freddie joined them, didn’t they? Now even children recognize Queen.
God safe the Queer! Thanks for representing all the queer group on the world Fred!

'It changed me': The night Brian May played 'God Save The Queen' on the roof of Buckingham Palace
14 January 2022, 10:35 | Updated: 16 September 2022, 12:03
Brian May was taking part in the concert 'Party at the Palace' in 2002 when he played an incredible guitar solo of 'God Save The Queen' on the roof of her Majesty's primary residence, Buckingham Palace.
The performance has since become a highlight of British music history, one that Brian May – nor anyone present – will ever forget.
The lead guitarist of Queen has recently spoken out about the experience and how it has 'changed him' as a person.
It was June 3, 2002 and May was due to perform at ' Party at the Palace ' – a concert in celebration of the Queen 's Golden Jubilee – when it was decided he would do something out of the ordinary to open the night.

The Queen guitarist then made his way all the way up through the floors of the palace and out onto its roof high among the battlements, for an extraordinary performance of 'God Save The Queen'.
Brian performed the lonely solo high above the city and was accompanied by an orchestra far below him in the palace gardens, whilst being projected live to millions of people across the world.
Speaking about the performance 20 years later, May said it had a profound effect on his life.
“The roof was a very special thing, that’s something you do once in your life," he told Express.co.uk , adding: "It was riveting and it was terrifying for me and it changed me as a person.

"After I’d done that I felt I’d never be afraid of anything again," he continued. "That was truly walking on the edge of a precipice."
The Queen star gave a nod to how dangerous the stunt was and what a miracle it was that it all went smoothly.
"Forever I will be proud of that moment because that was really breaking barriers, breaking frontiers. And so much could have gone wrong. I’m so grateful that it didn’t!”
The event saw the great and the good of pop and rock music come together in Buckingham Palace Gardens to celebrate Her Majesty's 50 years as monarch.
Brian was later joined on stage by Roger Taylor to play ' Radio Gaga ' with Phil Collins on lead vocals and ' We Will Rock You ', 'We Are The Champions' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody', with the cast of the west end's We Will Rock You .

Other musicians who performed on the night included Paul McCartney , Rod Stewart , Ozzy Osbourne , Annie Lennox and Tony Bennett , who performed in front of a 12,000 people, with an estimated 1 million people in the streets surrounding the palace and over 200 million watching on TV worldwide.

The Philadelphia Orchestra turns its London concert into a memorial, with "God Save the Queen"
The Philadelphia Orchestra offered an impromptu memorial tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday in London. The orchestra was scheduled to perform Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony and works by Samuel Barber and Valerie Coleman at the fabled BBC Proms in one of the final concerts of its European tour.
Ticket holders were reportedly lining up to enter Royal Albert Hall when Buckingham Palace announced the Queen’s passing. Though the concert was immediately canceled, the audience was admitted to the hall for a very brief performance. After a moment of silence, Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducted a somber rendition of “God Save the Queen.”
Tonight’s @bbcproms was cancelled but the Philadelphia Orchestra performed the National Anthem #GodSaveTheQueen @BBCRadio3 pic.twitter.com/QmAtKU8Vkf — Karen Woods 🇺🇦 (@kwjourno) September 8, 2022
Then, as a hush fell over the massive hall, the orchestra played “Nimrod” from Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations – solemn and poignant music that captured all the complicated emotions of the moment.
Though not composed with any funereal intent, “Nimrod” has traditionally been played at major memorial events in Britain, such as the annual national service of remembrance, dedicated to those who lost their lives in war, and state funerals, notably that of the Queen’s late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. In a mere five minutes, it encompasses mourning, consolation, nostalgia, and patriotic feeling.
Here is a 2014 performance at the Royal Festival Hall in London by Academy of St Martin in the Fields, as part of a concert celebrating the 90th birthday of the Academy's founder, Sir Neville Marriner.
After The Philadelphia Orchestra’s performance, both orchestra and audience departed in silence. The BBC has also canceled the final performances of the Proms on Friday and Saturday.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reaction revealed as God Save the King is sung - watch
The sussexes stood up as the british national anthem rang out.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were greeted with open arms during their three-day tour of Nigeria over the weekend.
Although they were not representing the British royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen standing up as God Save the King was sung at a Nigerian charity event on Saturday. Watch the clip below to see their reaction…
God Save The King is the national and royal anthem for the British territories, Commonwealth realms, and the British Crown Dependencies. The author of the lyrics remains unknown although it is often attributed to the composer John Bull.

Prince Harry and Meghan were at a lunch event in Abuja which took place hours after they watched a volleyball match and were mobbed by fans. Meghan, 42, looked beautiful in a white strapless St. Agni dress, whilst her glossy brunette tresses were swept into a low chignon.
The couple were the guests of honour as they sat in specially marked chairs. They were both poker-faced as the British and Nigerian national anthems were played - Harry, eyes front, with his arms by his side.
The Duke and Duchess then enjoyed the energy of a group of dancers and drummers before watching some testimonies of wounded warriors. After the reception, they were shown a computer-generated tour of the new planned Invictus Centre which provides a haven of physical and mental rehabilitation for wounded service personnel.
During the series of addresses, Abike Dabiri Erewa, chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission brought wide smiles and claps from Meghan — and applause from around the room when she exclaimed: "Princess Meghan is a Nigerian!"
Abike confessed she wasn't surprised when Meghan said on her podcast she had Nigerian heritage, saying: "I was excited but not surprised. Because she is beautiful, intelligent, diligent and hardworking and she stands firm in the midst of challenges.
LISTEN - Why Prince Harry and Meghan's kids did not accompany them to Nigeria
"Prince Harry you married the best — our daughter, our friend Princess Meghan. I hope you come back again, again and again." She continued: "Princess Meghan, you married the best man. He is handsome and gorgeous and the best man."
The three-day trip marked Meghan and Harry's first visit to Nigeria as a couple. The country holds a special place for them both, with Meghan having spent time with the Nigerian team at the Invictus Games last year and was even bestowed her own Nigerian name, Amira Ngozi Lolo.
