Private Tour

Tokyo disneyland / tokyo disneysea 1 day tour.

Tokyo Disney Land and Tokyo Disney Sea are the most popular theme parks in Japan.

For our tour, a charter vehicle or a charter bus will pick you up to the hotel. Since your ticket will be booked in advance and your driver will hand you the tickets on the day, you do not need to line up in the ticket office and you can enter without delay.

At Tokyo Disney Resort, you would want to enjoy the attractions and the rides at the park all day. Don’t miss the special parades scheduled during the day and at night. If you’re lucky, you may even get to take a photo with a Disney character! There are extensive range of restaurants and shops that sells original goods and souvenirs. Even if you’re exhausted from playing all day and staying until the night parade, returning to your hotel is easy as your charter vehicle or charter bus will come and pick you up.

Tokyo Disney Add-On

Tokyo disney add-on details.

Experience more of Tokyo Disney on the Tokyo Disney Add-On tour. In the middle of the most populous metropolitan area in the world lies two theme parks with a Japanese spin on the worldwide famous creator of magic, Walt Disney. Tokyo Disneyland opened in 1983 as the first Disney theme park outside of the United States. Modeled after Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland is made up of seven themed lands and features seasonal decorations and parades. Tokyo DisneySea opened in 2001 and is a fantasy theme park that is unique to Japan. Inspired by the myths and legends of the sea, Tokyo DisneySea was designed to specifically also appeal to a more grown up audience. The park addresses the Japanese visitors’ strong interest in good food by providing a wider selection of table service restaurants than Tokyo Disneyland and by serving alcoholic beverages, which are unavailable at Tokyo Disneyland.

For this add-on to your escorted or self-guided tour, you can decide to add on 2 days and 1 night, or 3 days and 2 nights. If you decide to add on 2 days and 1 night, you will need to pick between the two parks. If you decide to add on 3 days and 2 nights you can have 2 days at the same park, or one at each park.

You will be staying in the Shinagawa area, 40 minutes by train to the Disney Resort area. We can upgrade you to a Disney area hotel, price and availability dependent on the hotel at time of booking.

Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea Guide (2024) — Maximise your Tokyo Disney Day with these 12 Tips and Tricks

guided tour tokyo disneyland

Here’s the Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea guide we wished we had before going to Japan.

First published: 27 Sep 2017

Man looking at the the Journey to the Centre of the Earth attraction at Tokyo Disneysea - Japan theme aprks

Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea are without a doubt one of the best in the world. The problem is, it’s also an incredibly crowded park all year round. And if you’re a huge theme park fan, you’d know if you want to hit all the best rides in one day, you’re gonna need a game plan.

Planning a trip to Japan? Check out our guides and itineraries across various parts of Japan — from the familiar favourites of Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido, to the lesser-known Okinawa, Kyushu, and Matsumoto.

Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea?

Obviously, both parks are incredibly magical and many swear by them being the best in the world. If you have the luxury of time, spending two days exploring both parks is a no-brainer. But if you only have a day to spare, here’s a brief crackdown on the two.

Tokyo Disneyland Guide - Cinderella Castle

Tokyo Disneyland  is the classic of all classics. If you’re a fan of the immersive, magical experience unique to Disney Parks, this is the one. If you have young kids or are young at heart (aren’t we all? :P), Tokyo Disneyland is without a doubt the one. The shows and parades are also known to be more extravagant and spectacular here compared to DisneySea.

Tokyo DisneySea is totally different from any other Disney Park in the world. Many rides have a spooky theme and the intensity of the rides is generally designed for the older kids. We saw an 8-year-old bawling his eyes out at the end of a ride on Indiana Jones Adventure — he might have enjoyed Disneyland a lot more.

With star rides like Toy Story Mania! and Journey to the Centre of the Earth , even the most skeptical kid will be blown away. If you prioritise thrilling rides for your Disney experience, you’d probably enjoy DisneySea more.

Although we ended up picking DisneySea , these are tips you can apply to both parks and will set you up for a game-changing day at the Tokyo Disney Parks.

New attractions in Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea (2024)

Disney Harmony in Color Parade - Tokyo Disneyland

From now till 31 March 2024, Tokyo Disney Resort is celebrating its 40th anniversary , which means you can buy themed merch and snacks, plus enjoy special attractions as well!

These include the Disney Harmony in Colour Day Parade (Disneyland), and the Sky Full of Colours firework display (Disneyland and DisneySea).

guided tour tokyo disneyland

DisneySea also recently announced that the much-anticipated new land, Fantasy Springs , will open on 6 June 2024 ! It will be a mish-mash of Disney favourites: Frozen, Peter Pan & Tangled. Fantasy Spring will feature Frozen Kingdom (Arendelle), Rapunzel’s Forest, and Never Land… so if you think about it, it’s basically three new lands opening up 😂

Here are four new attractions you can expect:

1) Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey — a musical water boat ride depicting events from the original Frozen film 2) Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival — a water boat ride through the different locations seen in Tangled 3) Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure — a 3D attraction where guests attempt to rescue John from Captain Hook 4) Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies — a family-friendly attraction where guests help Tinker Bell deliver parcels

Plus, the upcoming Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel is available for reservations starting 8 Feb 2024 !

Before your trip

1) buy your tokyo disneyland/sea tickets online.

Disneysea Queue for tickets - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

The counters at the Tokyo Disney Park only open 30 minutes before the park opens.

When you arrive, there will be two separate queues: one for parkgoers who already have their tickets and are waiting to enter the park. The other, to get the tickets. You don’t want to be stuck in the latter queue! Buy your tickets online — this will give you a head start for queueing for the best rides.

Our Tokyo Disney tickets via Klook didn’t even need printing. All we had to do was have our QR code scanned from our phones and we’re in!

Ticket prices vary depending on day of visit and can be purchased up to two months ahead.

*Note: Certain credit cards issued outside of Japan are not accepted when purchasing through the official Disney Resort website .

2) Ultra-crowded days to avoid

Queue to Tokyo Disneysea on a school holiday - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

Weekends This is obvious but other than the weekends, Mondays and Fridays are sometimes equally as crowded. If you have the luxury to choose, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are your best bet. Check the Crowd Congestion Forecast Calendar and try to avoid the dates highlighted in red.

School   Holidays However, come school holidays, it probably doesn’t matter which day of the week you’re going. We visited DisneySea in the last week of the Summer Holidays and despite being there on a Thursday, the popular rides had queue times of up to 180 minutes 😱

Summer: Usually July to August

Winter:  December to January

Spring:  March to April

Japanese Public Holidays

There are 16 different Japanese Holidays but because some of them happen in the same week, a lot of locals take the entire week off for an extended week-long break. Three of the busiest periods to avoid are:

Golden Week: 29 April to 6 May Obon: Mid-July or Mid-August (depending on the solar calendar) New Year:  31 December to 1 January

3) Download the Tokyo Disney Resort App

DisneySea Park Map on Tokyo Resort App - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

In 2024, most things can now be done from the Tokyo Disney Resort app :

– Check queue times – Book Premier Access for rides – Dining reservations – Entry requests for shows and character greetings

It has all the essential information you’ll need about the parks, and the map with your live location is pretty handy when navigating!

Just register your ticket in the app once you’re in the park and create a group for your party.

4) Updates to the FASTPASS System (Disney Premier Access, Standby Pass, 40th Anniversary Pass)

Disney Premier Pass - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

Tokyo Disney Resort veterans will probably remember the FASTPASS system where every ticket holder had a fair chance at one of the popular rides without much waiting time. Unfortunately, that service has been suspended. In its place now is the new Disney Premier Access (from ¥1,500/access) where you can buy express tickets for specific rides.

Purchasing Disney Premier Access: Premier Access is located under ‘My Plan’ in the Disney Resort app. From there you can select the experience and timeslot you want. The QR ticket code will appear 5 minutes before your designated time and you’ll need to scan it to enter via the Priority Access Entrance.

Tokyo DisneySea Disney Premier Access Rides

Disneysea Tokyo Story Mania in the day - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

There’re currently four Disney Premier Access rides available, but since there are limited time slots, you should purchase the tickets on the app immediately after entering the park. These rides include Toy Story Mania! , Soaring: Fantastic Flight , Tower of Terror , and Journey to the Centre of the Earth .

Better seats for the Believe! Sea of Dreams parade are also available through Premier Access.

*Pro-tip: Try securing Premier Access slots for the afternoon as you’ll have more time to queue for other rides in the morning.

From experience, Toy Story Mania! and the Soaring: Fantastic Flight have the longest queues, and Premier Access timeslots also run out quickly.

(1) Toy Story Mania!  (American Waterfront)

Toy story Mania at night - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

Everyone raves about this unassuming carnival-themed ride and you’ll probably question yourself too while queuing.

The queuing area replicates the experience of being shrunken down to one of the characters of Toy Story, and the ride brings you through an interactive 3D course where you get to shoot digital balls at aliens to rack up points. Okay, perhaps this description doesn’t do it justice but trust us on this one, getting Premier Access for this will be well worth it.

(2) Soaring: Fantastic Flight (Mediterranean Harbor)

Soaring: Fantastic Flight Entrance - Disneyland Guide

Opened during the pandemic, Soaring: Fantastic Flight is the newest addition to DisneySea and is exclusive to Tokyo. The ride has a consistently long wait time (~180 minutes) which made us skeptical given that it’s not a roller coaster but we quickly understood why. The experience was so realistic that we forgot for a moment we were on a ride. Also trust us on this one #worth.

Tokyo Disneyland Disney Premier Access Rides

guided tour tokyo disneyland

The Disney Premier Access for Tokyo Disneyland works similarly to Tokyo DisneySea. Here are the attractions and parades you can use it on:

Attractions: Splash Mountain , The Happy Ride with Baymax , Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast Shows: Minnie @Funderland (till 19 March), Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights , Disney Harmony in Color

Standby Pass Rides

Certain character greetings and shops might require a Standby Pass to enter but the period and availability for passes are constantly being updated so we suggest checking online in advance. FYI, standby passes give you the right to wait in the regular queue for the attraction at the specified time. So if you don’t have it, you may not be able to go on the ride at all!

*Note: Standby Passes will be available for the new Fantasy Springs attractions on 6 June 2024 .

40th Anniversary Priority Pass Rides

Sky Full of Colours - Tokyo Disney Parks Atractions

The special 40th Anniversary Priority Pass is similar to the Premier Access, such that it will give you line-skipping powers! But the rides you can use them on are different. Check online for availability on your visit date.

Tokyo Disneyland/Sea Day Guide

5) bring a bento box for lunch.

Disneysea picnic area - Tokyo Disneyland guide

Food is allowed in the Disney Resort Parks and you can eat them at the designated picnic area — outside the main entrance on the left. To save money, purchase a bento box or a couple of onigiris before heading in. There’s a New Days convenience store just outside Maihama station .

Re-entry is also allowed here (just remember to get your hand stamped) so you can head out to the convenience store at New Days for a quick bite.

6) Arrive at least 1 hour before the park opens

Disneysea View - Tokyo Disneyland guide

Park opening hours vary by season, so check the Tokyo Disney Park Operations Calendar  before visiting.

Queues get quite crazy 30 minutes ahead of opening, so it’s best to arrive an hour before the park opens. Hopefully, you’d already have your pre-booked Tokyo Disney Tickets  so you can skip the ticket queue and join the entrance queue instead.

7) Start by queueing for popular rides

When the park first opens, head straight for one of the following rides as queues can go up to as long as 3 hours by mid-afternoon.

(1) Journey to the Center of the Earth   (Mysterious Island)

Disneysea Mysterious island - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

The Mysterious Island is another very well-themed area. One of my favourite areas of the park in fact! Since the tracks for this ride are hidden inside the mountain, there was no way we could prepare ourselves for what to expect but it turned out to be a close second favourite ride for all of us.

We enjoyed the whole experience even starting from the queuing area, to the many surprise elements paced cleverly throughout the ride.

(2) Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull   (Lost River Delta)

Disneysea Lost River Delta - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

Another roller coaster in the dark, this ride was laced with many unexpected surprises. The narration for this ride (as with all the rides in Tokyo) was in Japanese but despite this, we could follow the story because of the well-designed track. The detail in the design here is truly unbelievable!

(3) Tower of Terror (American Waterfront)

Tower of Terror - Tokyo Disneyland Guide

Twilight Zone fan (or not), you’ll love the Tower of Terror. The exterior is one of the most iconic sights in Tokyo DisneySea, but the interior is just as beautiful, with a hint of creepiness. It’s possibly also one of the most adrenaline-inducing and hair-raising rides — both literally and metaphorically.

8) Entry Requests for shows

Big Band Beat Broadway Theatre - Tokyo Disneysea Guide

Previously, you’d have to catch the first show or win lottery tickets in person at the Biglietteria to get a seat. Now, Disney Resort has shifted everything online to their app so you’ll need to submit an Entry Request to secure a reservation. You only get to try once for each show, so it all comes down to luck!

Popular shows at DisneySea: Get your tickets from the Disney Resort app!

Jamboree Mickey! Let’s Dance !  — A dance-along program for kids with Mickey Mouse and friends.

Big Band Beat : A Special Treat  — Broadway performance with a live jazz band and Mickey on the drums.

Duffy and Friends’ Wonderful Friendship  — A show at Cape Cod Cook-Off you can enjoy as you dine

Seasonal Shows — DisneySea hosts holiday-themed shows throughout the year. Right now, the Sky Full of Colors firework show is ongoing (also available at Disneyland).

Fortunately, seasonal greetings and night shows are still happening on the Mediterranean Harbor and do not require any Entry Requests.

Check the official Tokyo Disney Website for the latest parades and shows.

Popular shows at Tokyo Disneyland: Get Entry Requests for shows on the Tokyo Disney Resort app.

Disney Harmony in Color — A colourful flower petal-themed day parade featuring Mickey Mouse and Disney friends

Mickey’s Magical Music World   — Catch Mickey Mouse and your favourite characters in a live stage performance in the majestic Fantasyland Forest Theatre.

Club Mouse Beat — A dynamic live song and dance show by Mickey Mouse and his Friends

Minnie @Funderland — See Minnie Mouse and her friends on a glittery float, complete with pop music!

9) Catch the mid-day greeting if you don’t win lottery tickets

Halloween Greeting ship in Disneysea

Entry Request tickets for shows don’t come easy and if you miss the opportunity for shows, save a seat on the Mediterranean Harbor near the railings at least half an hour before the show to secure a good spot for the seasonal greeting.

We caught the Halloween Greeting where Mickey Mouse and Friends sailed around and waved from a giant ship.

10) Escape the afternoon heat and head to Triton’s Kingdom at the Mermaid Lagoon (DisneySea)

In the summer, afternoons can get a little overwhelming. Being stuck in outdoor queues surrounded by lots of people might hinder your experience. The best-kept secret really is at the underground area of Mermaid Lagoon — Triton’s Kingdom.

This area is specially catered for little kids so it’s usually not too crowded. Enjoy the aircon as well as a walk through this spectacular underwater-themed area. It’s the perfect refuge from the prickly afternoon sun.

11) Visit Magellan’s for a midday drink (DisneySea)

guided tour tokyo disneyland

If dining in a themed restaurant sounds like your cup of tea, we’d highly recommend DisneySea’s Magellan’s — especially if you’re craving a midday alcoholic beverage (Disneyland doesn’t serve alcohol at all).

guided tour tokyo disneyland

The decor is an attraction itself with its giant globe at the entrance and hidden dining rooms behind doors disguised as bookshelves. This place gets filled up during the day so definitely get Priority Seating for this restaurant.

*Pro-tip:  From 9AM onwards, you can book Priority Seating with your preferred time later in the day on the app — the other way is to book online the day before but the site is only in Japanese.

Recommended DisneySea Restaurants with Priority seating:  Magellan’s , Horizon Bay Restaurant , Restaurant Sakura , S.S Columbia   Dining Room .

12) Catch the night-time entertainment before the park closes

Fireworks at DisneySea - Tokyo DIsneyland Guide

If you’re still in the park after sunset, catch the stunning firework display at Tokyo DisneySea which happens daily at 8:30PM. We suggest saving a spot at the Mediterranean Waterfront in advance so you get an unobstructed view of the light show.

At Tokyo Disneyland, the Electrical Parade Dreamlights is a night parade you wouldn’t want to miss. With lit-up floats and classic Disney music, the atmosphere is pretty magical.

*Pro-tip: Save a spot for the night parade 45 minutes before it starts!

Bonus: Tokyo DisneySea Itinerary

This is best for fellow kiasu people who want to prioritise the three most exciting rides and the two most popular shows! *assuming the park opens at 9AM.

Tokyo Disneysea Recommended Itinerary

8AM: Arrive at Maihama Station Stock up on lunch at New Days (convenience store) before taking the Tokyo Disney Line to DisneySea. The queue to enter starts piling up by 7:30AM so it really doesn’t hurt to arrive an hour early.

#1: 9AM — Gates open

9:05AM: Book Disney Premier Access Rides for Toy Story Mania! and Soaring Fantastic Flight Right after uploading your ticket in the app, select your desired time slots for Premier Access so you can plan the rest of the rides around it.

#2: Run to Journey to the Center of the Earth Queues can get a little long in the afternoon as this is one of the few roller coasters in the park, located inside the iconic volcano.

#3: 10:55AM* —  Catch Big Band Beat at Broadway Music Theatre Use the Tokyo Disney Resort app and submit an Entry Request for Big Band Beat.

#4: Queue for Tower of Terror

#5: 1PM* — Catch one of the Seasonal Shows If you didn’t manage to secure an Entry Request for this, we recommend exploring the Arabian section of the park and doing some souvenir shopping.

#6: 2PM — Take a breather and enjoy a picnic lunch Explore the different sections of DisneySea, have your packed lunch at the designated picnic area and book Entry Requests for the Meet & Greet Disney Character sessions.

#7: Make way for Indiana Jones Adventure

#8: Cool off at Magellan’s If it’s too crowded that day, ask the Disney staff for a Priority seat and you will get a timed ticket to come back later.

#9: If you don’t get a seat at Magellan’s, head to Mermaid Lagoon Character Greetings that don’t require an Entry Request are constantly happening within the theatre so you can snap a quick photo with one of the Disney Characters.

4:30PM – 7:15PM: Enjoy skipping the queues with your Premier Access Once you’ve caught the first two shows, take note of the timing on your Premier Access tickets and make your way to the rides within the time period. Fill up the time in between by looking for rides with the shortest wait times on the app.

#10: 8PM — Get ready for the Fireworks show by the Mediterranean Harbor at 8:30PM Double-check the entertainment schedule but it’s good to get seated 30 minutes before the show begins.

*Showtimes may vary across different months.

Getting to Tokyo Disney Resort Parks

If you’re holding on to a JR Pass , the best way to get to Tokyo Disney Resort is via the JR Keiyo Line to Maihama Station — 15 minutes from Tokyo Station. From there, you can board the Disney Resort Line to get to the park (¥260/one-way).

By Bus from Shinjuku Station

If you’re staying in the Shinjuku area, the most direct way is to take the bus from Shinjuku Express Bus Terminal which arrives directly at both Disneyland and DisneySea in 40-50 minutes. You can pre-book your tickets online via Klook .

Hope you found the tips and tricks in this Tokyo Disney Guide helpful! Don’t forget to order your Tokyo Disneyland/Sea Pass before getting there!

which one is better? disneysea? or universal studio?

It’s really dependent on you! Between Disneyland and Disneysea, Disneysea has more rides while Disneyland has more interesting shows and characters.

USJ is totally different with their other rides and trademark brands. You can check out this guide! https://thetravelintern.com/ultimate-usj-guide-universal-studios-japan-planning/

Are the shows in English or in Japanese?

Is it still worth watching the shows even if it is Japanese?

We’ve been to both parks the last couple of days and we don’t speak Japanese (from the UK) and the language didn’t spoil the enjoyment at all for us.

just a quick update: klook has increased prices for the one day pass at disneyland/sea. it is now SGD 92.90.

Hi xindy, it’s probably due to currency fluctuations. It’s SGD91.2 now!

This is the most helpful post ever!! Can’t wait to go in 2 weeks! Thank you!

hi there, may I know is 1 fast pass can be use by 2 person? meaning I draw 1 fast pass so me and my friend can get into the fast pass lane together. Thank you!

Hi Law, the fast pass is only usable by one person and is tagged to your ticket!

Hi. Does the park have VIP tour guides available like the parks in the US?

Hi Tien Pham,

There are guided tours for sure, though we’re unsure of the VIP ones!

Hi there, the information is really helpful. But I’d like to ask few questions 1. When we are in the queue in fastpass, Is it possible the fasspast running out before our turn? 2. We have 4 persons in a group, can we separate into two groups? For instance, 2 persons queue for ride A regular lane, and 2 persons queue to get the fastpass for ride B. Are they allowed to join the queue in ride A after they got the fastpass for ride B?

Hey Sean, yes! It’s entirely possible for the Fast passes to run out, especially on the really popular rides (mentioned above!). (2) is a great strategy but you’ll have to be a little thick skin and walk through the queue to look for your friends. We only did this for rides with mainly outdoor queues.

hi, the rides that your reccomended, are they suitable for young children below 8?

Toy Story Mania is ok. But the other 2 rides probably not!

Hello! Do you know where are the other FastPass kiosks at DisneySea?

All the FastPast kiosks are near the actual entrance of the rides!

My wife and I went there in 2017 and I produced two vlog episodes out of the entire experience by following some of the tips listed on this page. Feel free to drop a subscribe on my YouTube channel (MervTV) if you like my content. (trying to get to 100 subscribers).

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oys46aVXGao Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Samf6dG0X2E

thanks for sharing!

Hello. We’ll be visiting in two weeks. Do you know if they give military discount? Is it better to purchase the tickets online from the states or does it not make any difference? Thank you so much!

Hi Mikukia, nope I believe there isn’t a military discount as it isn’t a US company. It’s better to purchase your tickets online as you save time and money! https://www.klook.com/activity/589-tokyo-disneyland-japan/?aid=312

Hi, I’m going on a school trip and we only have a half day to go there. Do you know if we can go to both parks with the ticket (like a park hopper) or would we have to pick one only?

Hi Katy, if i’m not wrong, park hopper tickets are only available for 3/4 day passes. So you might have to get two separate entrance tickets. To be very honest though, you definitely would not have time to visit both parks in one day. My suggestion would be to just stick to one!

Wow! This is such a comprehensive and super helpful guide. It is very good and very informative. There is a useful information in it.Thanks for posting.

Hello! I was wondering what are the most popular rides in Tokyo Disneyland and what are their wait time? Also, what rides in Tokyo Disneyland would you recommend? Thanks!

Hey Hailey. Wait times vary wildly from 30mins to 3+hrs depending on the day that you go. Avoid weekends and public holidays for sure. You can get the wait times off the app and website! My suggestion is to perhaps use a proxy to get a sense of the time. For example if you plan to visit on a weekday next month, find a similar weekday before your trip and compare the times.

Personally, I loved Star Wars & Space Mountain.

For the holiday tour as it mentions both parks does that mean you must have a hopper ticket for that day? Or as it a tour & you’ll just be with the guide do they let you do the tour if you just have a 1 park pass for Disneyland that day? Thanks

It will be included in your tour!

Guide to Buying Park Tickets for Tokyo Disney Resort 2024

If you need Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea tickets immediately, check the official app or our trusted third-party Klook .

You’ll need park tickets to visit Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Once you have your hotel rooms secured, buying your park tickets is the next step. Buying park tickets for Tokyo Disney Resort is confusing and frustrating, but I’ll explain the process and how the tickets work.

Level up your travel plans to Tokyo Disney Resort with our digital guidebook !

Table of Contents

Tokyo disneyland ticket prices 2024, disney hotel guests are guaranteed park entry, tokyo disneyland discount tickets, tokyo disney resort annual pass (annual passport), i can’t buy tokyo disneyland tickets online., how do i scan my klook ticket, park tickets faq.

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea ticket prices vary depending on the day of the week. Weekends and National Holidays are the most expensive, while weekdays are generally the least expensive. To help decide when to visit Tokyo Disneyland, read our handy guide !

If you don’t plan to spend the entire day at either park, save money by getting the later entry or weeknight tickets.

Keep in mind that there are only 1-day tickets currently. Tokyo Disney Resort does not offer annual passes and has no plans for them to return anytime soon. For prices and availability, check the official Tokyo Disney Resort website .

How to Buy Tokyo Disneyland Park Tickets

Cinderella Castle Tokyo Disneyland Background

Park tickets are sold two months in advance at 2 PM Japan time. The official Tokyo Disney Resort website has a helpful calendar showing available tickets. Once you have your park tickets, you can enter the park that day. There are no park reservations, unlike other Disney Parks.

Here’s a rundown of where you can buy tickets for Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

  • Klook (the easiest way to buy tickets from overseas)
  • Official Tokyo Disney Resort Website
  • Tokyo Disney Resort App
  • Guaranteed entry
  • The only way to buy physical tickets (see FAQ at the end of the article for more info)
  • 7-11, LAWSON, Family Mart, and Ministop convenience stores throughout Japan
  • JTB Travel Agents in Japan

Keep in mind that you cannot buy tickets at any ticket booths. You must buy tickets beforehand (unless you’re a Disney Hotel guest) .

Disney Stores in Japan no longer sell tickets at their counters without a reservation. You must make a reservation through the Shop Disney Japan app in Japanese .

What’s the easiest way to buy Tokyo Disneyland tickets?

If your credit card works, the easiest is through the Tokyo Disney Resort website. The second way is to stay at Disney Hotel with guaranteed admission and pay at the hotel.

If all else fails, then I highly recommend Klook . It’s a third party that I trust and have used for many years.

A perk for staying at Disney Hotels is guaranteed entry into the Parks. During your stay, you can buy tickets at the hotel with cash or a credit card. You can also buy tickets online with your reservation.

These Disney Hotels offer guaranteed park entry:

  • Tokyo Disneyland Hotel
  • Hotel MiraCosta
  • Disney Ambassador Hotel
  • Toy Story Hotel
  • Tokyo Celebration Hotel

The Official Disney Hotels, including the Hilton Tokyo Bay and Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel , no longer offer guaranteed entry. These hotels only offer park tickets with your hotel reservation, and you must reserve them through their official websites ahead of time. They’re no longer available at the hotel ticket counters.

For full details, check the Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels website .

Discounted tickets are sometimes available during the slower winter season . This is sometimes limited to residents in Japan. If you have a friend in Japan, ask them to buy tickets for you beforehand. Discounts are not much, usually around ¥700 (US$6.00).

Since reopening in 2020, Tokyo Disney Resort has not offered annual passes. Tokyo Disney Resort has no plans to offer annual passes anytime soon.

A common issue is foreign (non-Japanese) credit cards not working with the Tokyo Disney Resort website. If your credit card doesn’t work, the easiest solution is to buy your tickets from Klook . It’s a third-party service that I recommend and trust.

Here are a few other things to try.

Ensure your card has the 3-D Secure Authentication ( MasterCard SecureCode  and Verified by Visa). According to the Japanese FAQ (the English site doesn’t specify), the following credit cards are accepted.

Credit cards that are accepted at Tokyo Disneyland

  • AMEX (American Express)
  • Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS

Your card may or may not work, so it’s best to have a backup credit card. This applies to both the reservation site and for use inside the Parks .

If your credit card doesn’t work with the Tokyo Disney Resort Reservation system, here are a few options:

  • Sign up for Wise and use their card to buy tickets through the Tokyo Disney Resort website (this is confirmed and works).
  • Call your credit card provider to see if your transaction was blocked.
  • Buy your tickets at your Disney Hotel (guaranteed admission; you can use cash if needed).
  • Reserve tickets if you’re staying at one of the Official Hotels like the Hilton Tokyo Bay or Sheraton .
  • Ask a friend in Japan to buy tickets for you.

How do I scan my ticket into the Tokyo Disney Resort App?

You’ll need your park tickets scanned into the Tokyo Disney Resort app to use the Disney Premier Access, Standby pass, Entry Request, and other functions.

If you buy your park tickets through the Tokyo Disney Resort app or website, they’ll automatically show up in your app, so there’s nothing for you to scan. Ensure you’re logged into the same account you bought them with.

For all other tickets, like physical tickets bought from a Disney Hotel, a third party like Kook, or a Japanese convenience store, you’ll have to manually scan them into the app . You can scan them before the day of your visit. Ensure your app is up-to-date, and tap the “Scan Ticket” option on the home screen.

You can scan your Klook ticket into the Tokyo Disney Resort app or any valid ticket bought anywhere. There’s a lot of confusion with Klook tickets and scanning them into the app. The reason is that the ticket says the following:

This ticket can be used to enter the Park only if displayed on a smartphone (printed tickets are not accepted).

I’ve used printed-out versions of the Klook ticket before and never had any issues, so your mileage may vary. If you want to avoid any potential issues:

  • Use the digital Klook ticket on your phone to scan yourself into the park.
  • Have a printed version of everyone’s Klook tickets to make it easier to scan into the app.

If you only have the digital version of the tickets, it can get tricky to scan into the app since there’s no way to upload a screenshot or photo of the QR code. You must use the camera feature in the app.

Tokyo DisneySea 20th Anniversary TDR Explorer

Here are frequently asked questions regarding Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea tickets.

You can scan your Klook Park ticket into the Tokyo Disney Resort app.

Yes, Klook is a legit company that we’ve recommended for years. Klook now offers 60% money back on tickets for Tokyo Disney Resort if you cannot visit for whatever reason for a small fee. Tokyo Disney Resort officially doesn’t offer refunds for tickets .

No, Tokyo Disney Resort doesn’t have park reservations like Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort. Once you buy a ticket, you can visit the park on that date.

You can buy tickets through the official Tokyo Disney Resort website or third parties like Klook .

You can’t buy tickets at either park’s ticket booths ; you must buy them online or through the other methods listed in this article. While you’ll see some booths open, this is for those having issues with their purchased tickets.

Tickets are available up to 60 days (2 months) in advance. You can check the park ticket availability on the official website .

The only ticket available is dated 1-day park tickets for Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea. It’s not known when other ticket types are coming back.

The only way to get a cute paper ticket is by buying them from a Disney or Official Hotel. Unfortunately, you cannot exchange your tickets for paper tickets anymore. You are not given a paper ticket when you go through the turnstiles.

Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea tickets can sell out, so I recommend buying them as soon as you know what dates you wish to visit.

Only 1-day park tickets are available, so no park hopping options exist. If you wish to visit both parks in one day, you can buy two 1-day tickets.

Since multi-day tickets are unavailable, you’ll have to buy multiple 1-day tickets for now.

If your credit card doesn’t work, you can buy tickets from convenience stores like Family Mart, but you must be there at 6 AM when tickets go on sale a week in advance. Another option is to sign up for LINE Pay, use the VISA debit card (make sure you have a passcode setup), and buy through the Tokyo Disney Resort App (in Japanese) or the website.

There is no Military discount at Tokyo Disney Resort since the parks are owned and operated by Oriental Land Company, not Disney.

A one-day ticket for Walt Disney World starts at $109 USD , while a ticket for Tokyo Disneyland is about $53 with the weak yen. Generally, the exchange in USD is cheaper per day at Tokyo Disney Resort.

Tickets for Tokyo Disney Resort are one of the more stressful aspects of visiting the parks, but our guide should have removed some of that stress for you.

I recommend reading through the official website and FAQ if you have questions about park tickets. If you can’t find an answer, please let us know in the comments!

[…] Park Tickets […]

Great info! Would you consider adding a section on the ticket options for hotel guests? I get a ton of questions about this over on Disney Travel Babble, but I know the types and prices of hotel-guest tickets change, so I never have a good answer.

That is a fantastic suggestion! Completely overlooked hotel tickets. It deserves a brief mention. I will look at adding it at a later date! Thank you.

[…] As far as saving money goes, there are a few options, none of which are all that attractive. First up is the “After 6” ticket, which is a 4,200 yen ticket sold after 6pm on weekdays, except National Holidays. Alternatively, there’s the “Starlight Passport,” which allows entry after 3 pm on weekends and National Holidays for 5,400. Finally, there are slightly discounted tickets available at convenience stores for about the same price as the Starlight Passport during off-season. These are pretty uncommon. Keeping in mind that you’re spending thousands of dollars to travel halfway around the world to Japan, our take is that–in most situations–you should just spend the ~$10 extra for full day tickets rather than doing the partial day options. TDR Explorer has more info about Tokyo ticket options. […]

Are those high volume days in which you can’t enter with a 2 park annual passport designated or let’s say ,Christmass day or weekend, will I be allowed to enter if I get there first thing in the morning? Even if then it becomes a high volume day. I just moved to Chiba and I am considering getting an annual pass never lived so close to a Disney Park 🙂

The only time you cannot get in with your 2-Park Annual Passport is when they stop ticket sales. So, if you are there before they do so you will be OK.

Hello again! We updated the article to include information and a link to the special tickets for Hotel Guests! Hope it is useful 🙂

Fantastic! This is super-helpful!

Hi, I’ll be staying at Mira Costa for 2 nights (in 2 weeks time, yay!) With the “Multi-Day Passport Special” for hotel guests, we can visit Land in the day, sit a few rides (I only want to take the Space Mountain and Star Tours actually!), then visit Sea in the evening? We plan to be in Sea for whole of day 2.

That is correct, you can go between the parks! Have a wonderful visit!

I’m staying at a resort hotel in just over a month. I’ve tried buying tickets online but it won’t accept my credit card. Will I definitely be able to buy tickets from my hotel on arrival? I’m worried we’ll get there and tickets will be sold out :/

[…] especially if it’s just you and your son going. A single-day pass for one adult and one child will set you back 11,400 Yen, which works out to around $135. That’s actually cheaper than two single-day passes to Wet N […]

are you only allowed to buy tickets online three months beforehand? tickets in july aren’t available yet

If you have a dated ticket, you are guaranteed entry. No matter where you bought it.

This is correct.

hi! in buying tickets online, and i enter my name, let’s just say, “Anne Christine Huang” it says “given name invalid” because i think it accepts one first name. So i entered Anne Huang instead. the problem is, my credit card says Anne Christine Huang. will it be a problem when i enter the park?

Hi, we want to buy the tickets in advance but we want also the original ticket from de Park. Will we get original ticket in the Disney Store or just oder paper? thanks

If your payment goes through, then you will be fine!

They give you original tickets at the Disney Store. The printed out versions are only the e-tickets, which are purchased online.

Hi, about the hotel exclusive tickets – as it is my first time using those instead of the standard ones, I was wondering if I can already buy these in advance online via my “travel case”? They aren’t available via the normal online ticketing site that I’ve used in the past, and so far I haven’t found an option. I would feel more comfortable buying these in advance instead of at the hotel when we’re there, but as we are repeat visitors and only have a few days, I really think we would benefit from the park hopper option on all days. Thank you!

You will have to login to your reservation and see if they are made available there. If not you will have to purchase them at the hotel. Please let us know how it works out! Thank you.

Hi! My friends and I are planning to visit DL and DS on the exact days pictured in your 3-Day pass. Can you tell me how the crowds were and what to expect? Thanks so much.

I couldn’t book the hotel exclusive tickets online. We decided to book the standard ones and will try to upgrade when we’re there.

FYI – Your link to the parks operation calendar takes you to a “page not found”

Thank you, I updated the link.

Hello, your site is super helpful! Do you have any tips on how a US resident can purchase Tokyo Disney tickets online ahead of time? We are looking to visit the parks on dates that require Fixed-Date Tickets, but have not been able to purchase our tickets online because it seems like the site only accepts credit cards issued in Japan. Thank you!

Please check crowds on this website: http://tdrnavi.jp/forecast/disneyland?lang=en

If it’s busy you can check our guide to help with the crowds: //tdrexplorer.com/tips-for-dealing-with-massive-crowds-at-tokyo-disney-resort/

Hello Stephanie,

The English site accepts most credit cards from outside of Japan. Please check with your bank to make sure you can use it with the TDR website.

This may be helpful too: http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/faq/guest.html#faq-tdr6

If you’re still not able to buy it online, then you can buy them at the Disney Store in Japan before you go.

Hi, I just want to confirm for 2 day passport, is it the first day to enter one park, then the other park for the following day? For example: First day -> Disneyland, Second day -> DisneySea Appreciate your reply and thank you in advance!

“The first two days you can only visit one park per day.”

That is correct.

Hi I just want to ask if it’s okay if I buy the ticket for someone else? But I will not be joininh them when they go to Disney land, I’m just gone use my account and my credit card. Thank you

You should be OK. I would phone the resort to ask them for sure.

I’ve seen “birthday tickets” on the website! Do you have to have your birthday during your visit for that or can you celebrate after (especially being out of country)? I’ve heard they come with some merch.

Hello. I am trying to get birthday passport for our trip to Tokyo Disney in November, but the web that I found is in Japanese and with the help of Google Translator I understood that birthday passports are not available in 2016. Is it right? someone can confirm? Thanks in advance

Birthday Passports are no longer offered as of 2016 April but instead, you can buy one-day passport with “birthday design” (online exclusive, I think and same price as the ordinary Passport) and the accompanied Birthday goodies in the park or at Bon Voyage for around ¥3500. Hope it helps.

Hi, were you able to the ticket for your friend? I’m trying to do the same for some friends. Thanks

Hello! I will be visiting Tokyo Disneyland in December, and was thinking of purchasing tickets online. However will I be able to get an original ticket at disneyland itself? Or will I only have the e-tickets? Thank you in advance!

Hi there, I am planning to take my 5 y/o daughter to Tokyo Disney on Christmas Day. I’ve been trying to book tickets online as I don’t want to risk missing out, but apparently they no longer accept non-Japanese credit cards for online bookings!!! I’ve tried asking a friend here (Australia) who is a travel agent, but booking through her will cost me $85AUD more than if I booked directly online!! Does anyone have any ideas/advice on how to book tickets from Australia without paying exorbitant extra fees?? Thanks for any help.

Morning Janet (I saw your posts on our Facebook page, I will reply here to keep it in one place).

It looks like the resort made a change regarding credit cards and the site reads:

“3-D Secure authentication can be used for this transaction. From November 1, 2016, a 3-D Secure authentication will be required to purchase Park tickets online using credit cards issued by countries outside Japan.”

You will have to contact your bank to see if they can issue this code to you to use on the site. Then try again.

If that does not work, I recommend buying your tickets through klook.com:

https://www.klook.com/activity/589-tokyo-disneyland-japan/?aid=334

This is a service we have personally used and can vouch for (the link is an affiliate link). You can use PayPal as another method of payment. You buy your ticket and print it off and take it to the ticket gates. Or you can exchange your printed voucher (it must be printed) at any of the Ticket Booths for ¥200.

I hope this helps!

Morning Kathi,

This type of passport is no longer offered at the resort. They do sell the Birthday Merchandise in the stores, which anyone can buy at any time.

You can take your e-voucher to a ticket booth or the ticket center and have it exchanged into a hard ticket for a ¥200 fee.

Hi there, and thanks for the reply!

The information on the Disney site is quite confusing, as it also states that “We’re sorry, but the following credit cards issued outside Japan are not accepted on the Tokyo Disney Resort Online Reservation & Tickets site: Visa, American Express, Diners Club.”

So I’m not sure if the 3D authentication thing will make any difference. I’ll look into it though.

I had a quick look at the “Klook” website, but it seems they are only offering 2-day passes, no 1-day passes. Mind you, their price for 2 days is the same as my travel agent friend could get for 1-day!

Thanks again, I’ll keep exploring options.

Another update. I’ve just spent the past hour on the phone to my bank and the Disney Tokyo Online Reservation help line. My bank said everything was fine with my card, and they could see the attempted transactions so it must have been declined by the vendor for some reason. So a phone call to Japan (with interpreter) led to the conclusion that non-Japanese visa cards are indeed not accepted for online bookings. How ridiculous!!

However, they did say that I could book at a Disney store in Tokyo once we get there. It’s incredibly inconvenient as there aren’t any Disney stores anywhere near where we are staying, but seems like the best alternative at this point.

I will be writing a complaint to Disney Tokyo once we get there!! What’s the point of an online booking system if international cards aren’t accepted?!?!

See my post above re booking online – you may find it’s not possible!

The klook website offers both a 1-day and 2-day pass:

1-Day Pass: https://www.klook.com/activity/589-tokyo-disneyland-japan/?aid=334 2-Day Pass: https://www.klook.com/activity/695-tokyo-disneyland-disneysea-2-day-pass-tokyo/?aid=334

Hi! We bought tickets online at the same time as a hotel booking, so we’ve got paper tickets (for a 3-day pass) we’d love to exchange for a hard printed pass. Is this still possible, and would the best place to do this be the ‘Guest Relations Window’ outside the entrance of the parks? Thanks!

And am I also able to modify the parks of a 2-day pass? As it is required to specify the parks when buying a 2-day pass on Klook…

With the Klook ticket, you can visit either park. You just are not able to park hop on the same day. If you need to modify anything, it is a ¥200 fee (as stated above).

These discount tickets are at the convenience store typically. You have to check the deal to see what the details are.

As mentioned above, you are able to exchange printed tickets for a hard ticket for a fee of ¥200 per ticket. I would do it ahead of time. If you are at a Disney Hotel, you can do it right there.

Hi, this might seem an odd question but if I buy a 3 day passport and go let’s say Thursday and Friday in the same week but then don’t want to go until the week after on a Wednesday. Is my ticket still valid or do I have to use the days consecutively? Thank you.

It’s just the design of the ticket, there’s nothing else different about it. You can ask to buy it for everyone, but they may charge you a ¥200 fee for doing so.

“You can buy tickets for up to 4 days (consecutive)”

You have to use the tickets consecutively, you can’t split the days. So you’ll have to buy a 2-day ticket then a 1-day ticket.

Long time reader to DisneyTouristBlog and came across your website! Thinking of going to Tokyo Disney for 4 days in December and staying at Hilton Tokyo Bay. If I upgrade a 2 day ticket from Klook to a 3 day at the park would the 3rd day be a park hopper?

Hey Aaron, thank you for reading! The hotels will take most credit cards. As long as you have the major ones like Visa and MasterCard.

That’ll be fine, as long as the barcode is visible so you can scan it. The reason for the paper size is they give you instructions to fold is a specific way so it easily fits into the FastPass machines. You’ll just have to fold it a bit differently to get it to fit.

I got my ticket at FamilyMart and was given an reservation, do I exchange it for the ticket at the Disney ticket booths?

Hey there, I purchased my e-ticket off from klook and somehow there’s 3 QR code on the ticket, compared to the e-ticket issued by disney. The website did not offer any information to fold the e ticket at all and was now able to clarify if the e tickets issued by them can be used to redeem fast passes. Could u help with me queries please?

Extremely disappointing since I thought they would be able to handle such issues. after all, it was a site recommended by u guys.

Family Mart should give you printed tickets at the counter after you use the Kiosk. The tickets they give you are the ones you use to get into the park.

Good Morning!

Yes, you can use tickets from Klook for FastPasses and also the lottery shows. It works like a ticket you purchase from the official website.

The 3 QR codes are all the same, and you can scan any of them to get into the park, get FastPasses, and use for lottery shows. As long as you can get the QR code read by the reader, you can fold it which ever way you prefer.

I’ll pass on the information about the FastPasses to our contact at Klook, so they can clarify better on their end.

Thank you 🙂

Thank you so much for getting back, really appreciate it as well as the initiative to update Klook on the info u provided!

Hi! can we buy the 1-day pass on the same day in family part? or we just have to buy it at the park entrance? thank you

Hello! Great info. I had a few questions that I was wondering if you know the answers to.

1) If I stay at value or deluxe Tokyo Disneyland hotel, I know that you can get the multi-Day Passport Special where I can park-hop starting the first day….can you just buy this for one day only? On the website it only showed 2 day or more passes.

2) If I buy a 2 day multi-day pass and stay at a non-Tokyo Disneyland hotel, do I have to use the ticket on 2 consecutive days?

Hello Phoebe. Yes, you can buy a 1-day pass for the same day at Family Mart. I went and checked for you 🙂

1. This is a multi-day passport only, so you cannot get it a park hopper for 1-day. 2. Multi-day tickets MUST be used consecutively. As mentioned above 🙂

Hi, I’ve been doing extensive research on Disneyland and Disneysea and so far I think your page is the most helpful of all!! Quick question, I am planning to celebrate my birthday in Disneyland (finally I just recently decided after long days of thinking) and found that there is 1-Day Passport (Birthday Design) on the web. Will I get anything for my birthday using that pass?

Hello, I have a question because we are going to tokyo next year (february) and we would like to go to Disney Sea. I saw that we can buy tickets at disney store like shibuya. Can we buy the ticket and use it the day after or another day ? We want to buy the tickets the day before our visit to disney sea. Thanks in advance for your answer.

We are visiting Tokyo DisneySea on or around July 11th. We are on the fence wether we should stay in our Airbnb in Shinjuku or double book and stay near Disney the night prior. Should it be an issue getting into the park should we arrive an hour or two after park opening? We are slightly concerned with the long transit getting to the parks as well as the possibility of not being admitted because of the possibility that the park might be to capacity. This possibility also scares us away from wanting to pre-purchase tickets as well. We can still cancel the Shinjuku hotel but must do so by today. We could rebook and do our entire 4 night Tokyo stay near Disney instead. We need to stay in Shinjuku for at least one night because we have a tour leaving at 6:45am from Keio Plaza Hotel one day. So we’d need to double book a hotel over near there one night regardless. We wanted a “home base” to avoid dragging luggage around and moving, etc. Thank you for any advice that can be offered!

You don’t receive anything, it’s just a special design on your e-ticket.

It’s easy getting to the park from Shinjuku by train (takes about an hour) or you can take the Highway Bus from the Bus Terminal from Shinjuku Station which takes about 40 minutes.

Hi, i’m going to buy the ticket from klook, but it saya that the tickets cant be use on certain dates (special events), could you explain about the special events other than new year? Thanks

It’s special events when the park closes early and it’s invite only. Just pay attention to the park hours, if the park closes early then you’ll know there is a special event happening.

My husband and I purchased tickets from Klook (lastnight) for Disneysea the night before the day we were expected to go (which was today) but we never made it to Disneysea because we were only sent a summary order and no tickets/etickets or any vouchers. We checked our bank account and the money has been taken out. We have tried to call customer service and email the support email provided and no response. I was hoping to get a response today so we can get the tickets for tomorrow. This is very disappointing hope someone can help.

Hello! Was this the 2-day ticket? The website indicates that it takes up to 2 business days to issue the ticket (a one-day ticket is instant).

“You will receive a confirmation email and voucher email within 2 business days When you order on Friday, you can receive a confirmation email on next Monday afternoon(because of weekend)”

https://www.klook.com/activity/695-tokyo-disney-resort-2-day-pass-tokyo/?aid=334

You can buy a one-day ticket and upgrade it to a 2-day ticket once you are at the park.

Klook should be able to issue you a refund for the 2-day ticket. I hope this helps.

Just want to clarify that if I can upgrade the Klook 2 day ticket to a 3 day once at the park that then the 3rd day would be a park hopper day? Thanks! 44 days!

Yes, you can upgrade your park ticket at the park and will be a park hopper on the 3rd and 4th days. We answer this question in the article:

“Guests can extend this ticket — while still valid — to a 3-day or 4-day ticket.”

Hi! I just purchased 1 day pass ticket this morning using Pay Pal. The website says INSTANT CONFIRMATION but I dint receive anything except for this message bellow after the purchased. Do I need to wait or I start to worry.

Thank you for traveling with Klook! Your booking confirmation had been placed on hold as our Payment Gateway is carrying out further verification. This extra step is taken to ensure the safety of your account. We will be in touch within 24 hours. For any urgent matters, please contact us: email [email protected] or phone +852-3462-6208.

Since we are just an affiliate, you will have to contact Klook directly.

“In the event that you do not receive an email from us, please check your Spam folder or notify us via email”

I hope this helps. Thank you!

thank you. I do send email yesterday but unfortunately they are asking for more information. Klook false advertisement ” INSTANT CONFIRMATION” is not good. Im still waiting fro the confirmation and e-ticket hopefully they will send it today.

How much does it cost to upgrade from a 2 day pass to a 3 day pass?

It’s the difference between the prices of the two tickets.

1-Day Ticket: 13,200 2-Day Ticket: 17,800

Difference: 4,600

Your third day is a park hopper day.

Hi! I would like to ask if you can help me with this. I am planning to buy disney ticket now. My son is 11 years old but will be 12 during the day we will be in disney. What ticket should i buy for him? Thank you.

Hello, I’ll be visiting from Canada and found your website super helpful! Your blog is so helpful in planning tokyo disney! I have been once before and planning to go again thanks to your site. Quick question, do you know why klook’s e-tickets are only valid until April 30, 2018? Do you know if they will extend that at some point? Can I change my 4 day ticket print out from the hotel reservation site, to a physical ticket at the park?

Hi! I am a lot of questions, but about tiquets: I was wondering if I want to stay 1 day in Disneyland Hotel, and 4 days in Hilton Tokyo bay Hotel . Can I buy my 4-days pass ticket with my reservation in Disneyland Hotel? And then the hotel give me a pass of 15 minuts early for 1 day or for 2 days? How does it Works? Thank you very much for your help, and for all your information. It’s fantastic!! I am planning my first visit a tokyo with all of your tips!!

Regards from Barcelona (SPAIN)!!

I was under the impression that as of 4th June 2019, you can no longer extend your passport from a 2 to a 3 day passport etc.

Are you able to confirm this? We are doing Halloween one week, with a 2 day passport and then 2 days the following week for Christmas – however, we are going Wednesday, Thursday the second week and Christmas officially starts on the Friday so we might want to extend.

Looking at the park schedule for Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th November, the Wednesday everything stays the same but Thursday the times move all over the place – looks to be like it would be to accommodate Christmas ent. previews.

That’s correct, you aren’t able to change your passport to add-more days. It was a detail we missed in our guide and I’ve updated it. Thank you for pointing it out. When in doubt always go with the official website 🙂

Does anyone know how to buy 2-day tickets? Nowhere seems to have them apart from hisgo.com and they won’t accept our visa card from the UK…

Buy them directly from Tokyo Disney Resort on their official website. If that doesn’t work you’ll have to wait until you get to Japan and buy them at the Resort or at a Disney Store.

Thanks! Unfortunately, the online ticket portal only seems to take Japanese cards. I have a friend from Japan, so I will ask her to try and buy them for us online…I am a little worried if her name is on the tickets that they will not let us use them though…Can’t seem to find any info on that

The online site does take overseas cards it just doesn’t work with all of them. It’s a common problem. The names on the tickets won’t matter, no one checks.

can you exchange the online 3 day passport printed at home copy for a disney hard copy ticket at guest services?

Hello! I’m from Morocco and I always wanted to visit Tokyo. Thank you so much for this useful information and great content.

Should I be Concerned about the size of paper that the website says I need to print my tickets at home? it says I need A4 which is bigger than my standard 8-1/2 x 11.

Nope, as long as the barcode is visible when you scan into the park and use it to get fastpasses in the machines.

Thank you. I have been trying to buy my tickets on line for days and it keeps saying unable to process. I have talked with my credit card company and they unlocked it but still not going through. Any suggestions?

Hey Chris, I tried buying my April tickets on the official website I am unable to get my transaction through (managed to get to the 3D verification and then unable to complete booking). I suspect it is due to the price change mentioned above. As such, may I enquire whether purchasing through combinis would give me an “E-ticket” vs an “exchange voucher”? Thanks for your great work.

Hi, I just purchased two 4-Day Magic Passports for May 12th throught the Tokyo Disney Resort Online Reservation web with a VISA card (I already made the hotel reservation about a month ago with other VISA card without any trouble) but after the payment, a “We are sorry” message apeared and it seems I didn’t purchased them. BUT my bank has charged me the 45.600 Y. Should I wait or should I call Disney? I bought them with the price until March 31, 2020, so maybe that’s the error.

Does tokyo Disney land offer discounts for support workers?

They don’t.

Please call them directly.

The best place to visit

I really enjoyed reading your article, interesting and informative blog… Thanks for sharing with us!

Did a spur of the moment trip in the midst of a business trip. I found it frustrating that buying tickets from the Disney website required printing and that I couldn’t buy them directly in the English version of the app. Klook was a lifesaver since it both took my US credit card (though I’ve found my Canadian Interac Card has never been rejected) and, via their app, I was able to get tickets on my phone while I was en route.

*However* once I had the QR code on my phone, there was no way to link it to Disney app since the QR code had to be scanned and as a solo traveler, I had no way to do so. Guest Relations did their best to help me, but by the time I got there, the standbu line for Haunted Mansion was full, so I’m not sure if they would have been able to get me a place. They offered to help me make show reservations, but I declined. I did not ask about priority access.

The day turned out fine as there wasn’t much I needed it for beyond looking up wait times. But I do wish I had known about this issue ahead of time. I might have asked the one other American I saw if they could take a pic of my QR code so I could scan it. Oh well.

I just learned that today cause I was testing using the Klook tickets to write about it. I ran into the same issue today. What I did was send a screenshot of the QR code from the Klook ticket to a friend in a message and open it on my Apple Watch, and scan the QR code so it was in the Tokyo Disney app. I plan to write this in the guide. Klook only recently added tickets again, so I haven’t been able to fully go through all the scenarios.

Very nice service

I have 2 questions! First of all thank you for all the useful information !! My first question is if I can link my Klook purchase with the TD Resort app? and if the calendar map says that tickets for that day are sold out is it just in the Klook app or can I purchase tickets the week of?

You’ll need to scan the QR code from your Klook ticket into the TDR App once scanned into the Park (you can’t do it ahead of time). I suggest having a second device scan the Klook tickets’ QR codes or print a hard copy for you to scan. If you check the official TDR website, it’ll say if there are tickets available. Klook may only get a certain amount daily (I don’t know for sure).

Not Disney related but why does Klook have multiple choices for Universal Studios Japan 1 day pass but doesn’t say what they are…..just letters??

Those are the different ticket types based on price. When you select from the calendar, it’ll select the proper ticket automatically.

Hi. your blog and youtube helped me a lot! I have credit card issue and I wanted to ask you. I’ve visted TDL lots of times and I never had credit card issues when purchasing merchandise or food at store. But I tried buying admission tickets from their japanese website for the first time but none of mine or dad’s card would work. Anyway I got the tickets from KLOOK(thanks to your blog). my question is- would I be able to purchase Disney Premier Access through the app with a credit card that didn’t worked when buying admission ticket? I know I can buy those at disney park but I wanted to purchase through the app since it would be more convinient. And also one more-If I change language setting to English at their official website, would I be able to buy admission ticket without credit card issue? I am guessing that credit card issues start as I type card holders name in hiragana or kanji. I do have chinese letter name (I am Korean) but I didn’t registered my credit card with chinese letter

Your credit card should work for Disney Premier Access. I tested that theory out in this video with my credit card, which didn’t work to buy tickets. https://youtu.be/EKo0wwRL57w It’s not guaranteed. I recommend having an extra credit card just in case. There’s no way to know for sure until you’re in the Park on the day of your visit. For your second question, you’re just gonna have to try, unfortunately.

Hello! I notice the Japanese language site is selling vacation packages up to 28 January 2023. Have you heard if there are plans to extend the vacation packages to the English site or if there is a way to create a Japanese account? Also do you consider them to be good value?

I bought tickets through the website and received confirmation email. I can’t find any qr codes following the link, what should I do now?

Could you please write a blog on how to apply for Fast Pass & go into the draw to be able to shop duffy & friends merchanise in the designated shops on the tokyo disney resort app (Japanese only)

Contact customer service where you bought your tickets.

I’ve never done a vacation package before, so I can’t say they are worth it. But those that have told me they are worth it. I don’t know when it’ll be available on the English website again. As for the booking with a Japanese account, you’ll need a Japanese address and credit card, so the effort won’t likely be worth it.

There’s no FastPass anymore. For the StandbyPass into shops, you do it through the app. The TDR website explains how it works. https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/tdl/guide/standbypass.html

You can call the Tokyo Disney directly and they will unrestrict your Disney user account to be able to purchase tickets. Number I called +81- 45-330-9697 and they were able to help me. I used my Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Good luck!

For the current system with only 1 day tickets available, can you buy a ticket for each park and leave & re-enter in order to “park hop”?

Thank you for sharing these amazing guidances

Thank you SO much for this blog!!! There are so many blogs on WDW and Disneyland CA, but I was struggling to find help from my usual sources about Tokyo. This will be so helpful for our trip next fall!

When you buy tickets on Kloots, how do you scan the ticket into the app, so you can do fast passes, premier access and etc?

Hi! Yes, you can. In the FAQ of this article, there’s a link showing how to do this.

Thank you TDR Explorer! Love tour blogs and vlogs! So helpful, maybe I’ll see you there at the parks one day!

I loved your blog thank you so much for sharing.

I purchased two Disney at sea tickets directly through the Dinsey site and noticed both have my name, will that be a problem?

We watch your You Tube channel pretty much everyday! So good! Chris please can you tell me if it’s possible to visit Disney Sea without a smartphone? We’re visiting in April this year. Thanks again & best wishes from Australia 🙂

Hi. Thank you for the detail info and video. I have some questions on klook ticket. I’ve purchased Disneysea ticket for 4 pax online via klook. Received 4 individual tickets no problem and all. I thought u can either exchange/redeem the ticket at Disneysea or just scan the QR code printed on the ticket. However, further reading it said : ” This ticket can be used to enter the Park only if it is displayed on a smartphone (printed tickets are not accepted)”. I’ve checked with klook and explanation given is each person should display the ticket on their phone. 1) As I’ve purchased 4 tickets and 2 of them are children, would like to check whether this is the only way or can i just use my phone and take turn scanning the QR code for each person. 2) How do I “link” the ticket I purchased with the Disney app so I can use the standby pass/premier access ? I’ve read this can only be done once I’ve entered Disneysea. Anything that I should do before hand? Thanks

Is it not possible to buy at the counter in Ikspiari? That’s what we did a couple years ago

Hi, I’ve been having the same credit card problems that others have had. Tried MC, Visa and AMEX. Was OK to use Klook, but the site doesn’t have the option of the weekday pass. Any other tips? Thanks!

Just did DisneySea and wished I had found this info sooner. No joke, the tickets are the most stressful part of DisneySea – it took us about 40 minutes to work it all out once we got into the park. Question for my next time with kids: will I have to scan all the voucher QR codes into the Disney Resort App after entrance or will they be automatic since they were all purchased together?

I have a question for you. We have very limited time in Tokyo so we can only devote one day to Disney. However, we are die hard fans and would like to see both parks in one day. Our credit cards don’t work via the Tokyo Disneyland official website and Weekday-night passes are not available in Klook or anywhere else. How can I purchase them? Can I purchase them somewhere as soon as I get to Tokyo? Thank you!

TDR, thank so much for this article. I have been hitting multiple different error codes trying to use my MasterCard from here in the US. Went ahead and ordered a WISE card. Is that still a viable solution?

Hi TDR explorer! Can I buy TDR tickets from Klook for Japan Passport holder? I’ve seen some activities from Klook that’s not allowed for Japan Passport holder. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you!

Weeknight passes are only available through the official website.

Hi, will there be a winter 2 day passport or do you think we’ll need to buy separate tickets?

Hey TDR explorer! Are we still guaranteed tickets for Tokyo Disney sea if we stay at a disney hotel the night before we want to go to disney sea? They are booked for the day off. Hope you can help us out! Thank you!

I’m trying to book my hotels and tickets for three nights & two days at Tokyo Disney (one expensive splurge night and 2 at a lower cost Disney hotel), and it’s very confusing in the app. It keeps offering me “packages” but with little explanation of what the packages are and the pricing?

Tokyo Disney Sea (JDT Recommends)

Tokyo disney sea | magical sea of adventures.

Tokyo Disney Sea | Magical Sea of Adventures

Tokyo Disney Sea opened it's doors in 2001 next to the famous Tokyo Disneyland . Within 307 days of opening, Tokyo Disney Sea was already able to attract over 10 million guests. Ranked the 4th most visited theme-park in 2013 with more than 14 million visitors, Disney Sea is designed to attract an older group of Disney fans while still being a family-friendly park.

Like its neighbor Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Sea also has seven themed-lands referred to as ports :

  • Mediterranean Harbor - Based on an Italian port town, this part features Venice-style canals and gondolas. Located by the entrance, enjoy one of the shows held daily in the harbor featuring boats and water fountains.
  • Mystery Island - Based on science fiction and the depths of the ocean, this area features a volcano in the center of the park and offers attractions exploring the unknown with Captain Nemo.
  • Mermaid Lagoon - Based on the world of The Little Mermaid , enter the whimiscal world under the sea where Ariel, Flounder, and the rest of the mermaids await.
  • Arabian Coast - Based on the adventures of Aladdin enjoy a magical show by Genie or travel with Sinbad in this Arabian themed port.
  • Lost River Delta - Based on the ancient temple pyramids of Central America, the Indiana Jones Adventure Ride explores the temple ruins. After exploring the temple, the Raging Spirits Roller Coaster next door. This is also the hub for the Tokyo DisneySea Transit Steamers for access between both parks.
  • Port Discovery - Based on the marina of the future, guests can explore the sea life with their friends from Finding Nemo or discover the world of Aquatopia.
  • American Waterfront - Based on the 20th century harbors around New York and the East Coast, this American-styled harbor has a charming array of restaurants and shops, and is home to the Tower of Terror.

Disney Adventure Under the Sea

guided tour tokyo disneyland

In hopes to attract an older crowd than Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Sea offers more thrilling roller coasters and alcoholic drinks unavailable outside the park. Much like the special snacks exclusive to Tokyo Disneyland, the beverages at Disney Sea are both super cute and delicious. Among the list of drinks, we recommend The Sparkling Cocktail, Beer Cocktail (Pomegranate Syrup, Sour White, Pineapple), Frozen Citrus Cocktail, Singapore Sling, or the Tres Frutas Cocktail Set. While there are alcoholic beverages, Disney Sea also includes special snacks and meals you won't find next door. The park also offers a larger selection of table service for Japan's growing foodie population, unlike Tokyo Disneyland. Guests from Japan and around the world can agree, Tokyo Disney Sea is the perfect mix for everyone in the family to enjoy. If you want to visit Tokyo Disney Sea after a Japan Tour with us, we can happily arrange it during a post or pre-stay in Tokyo! We can also arrange a day visiting theme parks on an unforgettable custom Japan tour for a luxury Asia trip you won't forget. Come explore Tokyo and reunite with Mickey, Mini, Goofy, and the rest of the Disney gang at Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea!

TouringPlans Travel Beat 4-27-2024

At Travel Beat we have all the “other” news from the last week or so—the stuff that wasn’t big enough to stop the presses for. What did the newsroom bring us this week? Bullets are just ahead if you’re in a hurry, and more details follow below. Don’t forget to check out the Headline News Recap, in case there was something you missed!

Two Guided Tours Return to Disneyland

Popcorn installed for smellephants on parade, dates announced for epcot international food & wine festival, full roster of character outfits shared for lookout cay, droid depot & savi’s workshop now pre-paid experiences, marvel season of super heroes debuts new drone show in hong kong, buzz lightyear’s astro blasters closing at tokyo disney resort, only online ordering for chicken guy in disney springs during refurb, headline news recap.

Can you guess which story inspired this week’s cover image? Leave your guesses in the comments!

Two more of Disneyland’s guided tour roster will be returning in April. The Cultivating the Magic Guided Tour, which focuses on the plants and botanicals at Disneyland, and the Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour will restart on May 11. Booking begins on April 30.

You may remember hearing about Smellephants on Parade, a scent-based attraction coming to Storybook Circus in the Magic Kingdom. As you wait to ride Dumbo, you can find and sniff the Smellephants. The first Smellephant was installed late last week as Popcorn made his (her?) way into the display.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

The Smellephants feature Scentsy-provided scents, and for those with scent-induced migraines Disney assures us that the area will still be safe to visit. (The super-sensitive may want to double-check that, or else wait until the new elephant smell wears off.) Two new Smellephants have arrived this week (with less fanfare), and the installation should be complete by the end of the month.

Ladies and gentlemen, polish your forks! The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be returning to Disney World from August 29 through November 23, 2024. What details do we have right now? Well, only a few gimmes like “The Germany Kitchen will be returning”. But we promise to keep you up to date here on the blog as news of the Eat to the Beat schedule, dining packages, and most importantly, THE MENUS are released.

Do you feel like you’ve seen this headline before? Well, not quite. Ever the master of the slow roll reveal, back in January we got a look at the Lookout Cay outfits for Mickey & Minnie . But this week, we got a look at the outfits for the whole lineup . Check them out below.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

Until recently, the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge experiences where you can Build Stuff™ required a credit card guarantee at the time of booking, and full payment upon check-in. Now you’ll be required to pay during the reservation process, with no further dosh due at check-in. Cancellation policies (currently 24 hours in advance) and prices (currently $119.99 to build a custom astromech unit at Droid Depot & $249.99 for Savi’s, plus tax) remain the same.

A new “Heroic Drone Show” opened at Hong Kong Disneyland this week as part of the Marvel Season of Super Heroes celebration. During the day, you can join some of your favorite Avengers as they battle Hydra, and in the evening the Swarmbots rise to the skies in the “Find Your Super Power: Battle in the Sky” nighttime experience. The Super Hero celebration also includes themed food and merch, and it runs from April 26 to June 10.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

You’ve still got 6 months or so to get a ride in on Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters in Tokyo; the resort announced this week that the attraction will be closing sometime in October 2024. The attraction’s space will be reused for a Wreck-it Ralph-themed attraction based on the Sugar Rush racing game, currently scheduled to open sometime in 2026.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

Chicken Guy in Disney Springs is doing some work on its outdoor seating area. Walls are up and – most importantly if you’re planning to eat there during the construction – there’s only online ordering available at the moment (and presumably until it’s done.)

guided tour tokyo disneyland

It was a slow week as far as headlines go; the Food & Wine dates might have made the bar if there had been more details but … yah no.

On the left coast though, Pixar Fest kicked off on Friday and we have photos of the event parade.  Photos: New Pixar Better Together Parade at Disney California Adventure . Pixar Fest will run through August 4, 2024.

That’s it for this week’s Travel Beat. What news are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!

What it's really like to stay at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

Summer Hull

  • Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is a crown jewel of the Tokyo Disney complex and the closest hotel to Tokyo Disneyland itself.
  • You will likely notice some styling similarities with Disney's Grand Floridian, but you could argue that the decor of Tokyo Disneyland take things to an even more 'grand' level.
  • The 15-minute early entry to Tokyo Disneyland you get by staying here is very valuable and the character themed rooms are not to be missed.

Are you visiting Tokyo Disneyland and hoping to stay as close to the park as possible while still enjoying comfortable rooms and whimsical decor? The Tokyo Disneyland Hotel may be the best Tokyo Disney hotel for you. Here's what a recent stay there was like.

What it's like at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

The Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is directly off the Disney Resort Line Station (aka the monorail) and the entrance to Tokyo Disneyland. It feels like an extension of Main Street crossed with the Disney Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Florida , thanks to its grand, festive stylings like sweeping staircases and soaring chandeliers.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

Though slower lines can form at check-in, the public spaces were orderly and in good condition, and the service was very polite and helpful. The presence of various English-speaking cast members was an added perk.

How much Tokyo Disneyland Hotel costs and how to book

While prices vary by date and room type, currently, the least expensive rates start around $390 per night. Conveniently and somewhat unusually for Japan, there are rooms for three and four adult guests, which is great for families. Listed room prices are generally for two adults and up to two children 11 or under, with per-person fees applied otherwise.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

You can book stays online starting four months in advance; certain room types sell out fast, so reserve early. There is a $200-per-room deposit at the time of booking. The rest is payable at check-in.

I recommend the themed rooms based on movies like "Alice in Wonderland" and characters like Tinkerbell. We selected "Beauty and the Beast," which had three single beds and cost about $570 for our one-night mid-March stay.

Rooms at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

Our "Beauty and the Beast" room had fanciful, jewel-toned furnishings and sumptuous accents. It featured sconce lighting, fairytale castle-inspired drapes and exaggerated bed headboards with rose motifs that made it feel like a castle room filled with Belle's books and friends. It took the theme of this story into much more detail than you'll typically find at Disney hotels in the U.S. Even the cups and amenity kits in the bathroom were themed.

The beds were a bit firm, but that is common in Japan; the multiple pajama sets we found in the wardrobe to borrow were a convenient touch.

We couldn't have loved this spacious and characterful room more, as it was both functional and thematically bright, happy and full of fun.

Insider tip: If you happen to have a window view toward the park when it closes at night, turn off the light in your room and use your phone's flashlight to wave to those heading home for the evening. Odds are high they will signal back.

What we ate at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

There are three restaurants at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel: Sherwood Garden (buffet-style dining), Canna (higher-end dining) and Dreamers Lounge in the lobby. You can make online reservations for the first two restaurants, but we just popped into the lounge for breakfast.

The buffet was just $24 for adults, $14 for kids 7 to 12 and $8 for children 4 to 6 years old — a steal compared to Disney prices in the U.S. There were Japanese and Western staples such as miso soup, rice, scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, sliced fruit and juice. It was a simple breakfast, but one that felt elegant, given the refined service and grandeur of the space.

Amenities and things to do

The hotel offers several useful amenities, both Disney-related and not:

  • Two shops — one for market items and one for Disney souvenirs.
  • Bibbity Bobbity Boutique for princess makeovers. Prices here start at about $60, but for packages that include a full princess makeover with a gown (which looked much nicer than U.S. versions), expect to pay over $200.
  • Pool (summer only, currently scheduled for mid-July 2024 opening and there are fees to use it).
  • Smoking lounge.
  • Laundry room.
  • Luggage transfer service if you are moving to another Tokyo Disney hotel.
  • 15-minute early Happy Entry each morning to both Tokyo Disney theme parks. Tip: Line up for the service at least 30 minutes before the scheduled Happy Entry time. That way, you can line up your daily rides in the app and avoid long lines. (Note that starting June 6, 2024, Happy Entry will only be available for Tokyo Disneyland when staying at this hotel until further notice.)
  • Accessibility: The Tokyo Disneyland Hotel has accessible Deluxe Rooms with wide spaces for maneuvering personal devices, grab rails by the toilet and bath tub and a sliding door to the bathroom. For more details and to ensure you can reserve a room that meets your requirements, contact the hotel directly.

Insider tips for staying at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

Here are some other tips when staying at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel:

  • When using Happy Entry, make sure you are directed to the right security line for that service; it's much faster than the normal line.
  • Online ticket purchases can sometimes be challenging with U.S. credit cards, but staying here guarantees you can buy tickets to the park when you arrive.
  • You can request child-size pajamas from the front desk when you check in.
  • Pre-order early-morning room service the day before or you might not get your preferred time slot. It offers a set menu for $32 per adult and $19 per child.
  • Some of the many room types have trundle beds, which can help with sleeping arrangements; read each room description carefully to choose the best one for your needs.

guided tour tokyo disneyland

Bottom line

While our time at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel was brief, it felt magical and grand — a true highlight of our trip.

Although it's the closest hotel to Tokyo Disneyland, you could spend some time here and then move to one of the two hotels nearest Tokyo DisneySea (Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel and Tokyo DisneySea MiraCosta Hotel) and its soon-to-open Fantasy Spring section for the rest. Plus, the staff will move your luggage for free.

But to feel like you're sleeping in an actual castle, the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel takes the crown.
