Ko, the reigning champion, is one of the lowest-ranked players in the draw, and his tournament-opening encounter with David Alcaide has the potential to be the tie of the round.

Two-time champion Van Boening has also been handed a rough assignment, against Duong Quoc Hoang, who's had joy against the American in the past, while Aloysius Yapp has the talent and form to bounce No.6 seed Jayson Shaw.

The opening round will be first to nine, the quarter-finals will be first to 10, the semis will be first to 11, and the final will be first to 13. Day one went the way of the seeds with Filler, Ouschan and Shaw all booking straightforward enough passage into the Second Round. How will the rest of the early action pan out today?

WORLD NINEBALL TOUR SCHEDULE

Matchroom Pool is proud to unveil the formulation of the World Nineball Tour marking the benchmark for the game of professional pool globally with events reaching all four corners of the world boasting a minimum prize fund of $3 million: minimum of 40 ranking events and a minimum of 1,000 live TV hours for Matchroom events globally in an ever-growing list of broadcasters creating opportunities for all players.

Following in the footsteps of Matchroom’s highly successful model that has seen the Professional Darts Corporation and the World Snooker Tour both with over £15 million in prize money for the forthcoming season. The World Nineball Tour will accelerate at pace to provide a commercial platform for professional pool and change players lives.

The Nineball ranking structure has expanded to new territories to help players turn fully professional worldwide; the Tour will build a fair, transparent, and commercial constitution where players will see a profitable future, break new ground, and inspire stars of the future globally.

2023 will see 10 major events forming the backbone of the calendar promoted by Matchroom with a new signature 256-player field Spanish Open Pool Championship recently announced as part of a wider partnership in Spain. Similarly, the Southeast Asia territory will shortly announce a host of new events aligned to the World Nineball Tour.

We believe a collaborative effort between Matchroom and the rest of the world of pool will be the best way to ensure players have endless opportunities to earn World Nineball Ranking points that provide a gateway to the most-valuable tournaments on the calendar.

This year’s schedule is ever-expanding with the World Nineball Tour keen to work with organisers and federations all over the world as underlined with the launch of numerous new Ranking events across continents including the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and Europe.

It offers a platform for not only the players to earn a fair living but also for local organisers to grow their events with both Matchroom and the third parties set to benefit from unrivalled insight into the game. The direct goal is to also open further ranking event opportunities in the USA, South America, and central Europe.

As part of Matchroom’s ongoing investment and expansion, the World Nineball Tour will launch an independent integrity unit with a remit to focus on anti-corruption, drug testing and more to ensure the continued professionalisation of the players competing in all World Nineball Ranking events.

ATLANTA - Vice President Kamala Harris is headed back to Atlanta.

The vice president announced today that she is embarking on a nationwide Economic Opportunity Tour. The tour will take her back to several states across the country, highlighting the economic opportunities created by the Biden-Harris Administration.

The Economic Opportunity Tour will kick off with a moderated conversation in Atlanta on April 29, followed by an event in Detroit during the following week. Additional dates and locations will be announced soon.

Harris has made multiple trips to Atlanta since she became vice president.

"President Biden and I are committed to creating an economy in which every person has the freedom to thrive," said Vice President Harris. "Our economic approach has delivered great progress, and we will continue to invest in you, your family, and your future."

During the tour, Vice President Harris will highlight the investments made by the Biden-Harris Administration, which have reportedly supported communities and helped people thrive. This includes investments in small businesses, job creation, access to capital for underserved communities, investments in infrastructure, healthcare initiatives, debt relief programs, education investments, affordable housing efforts, childcare cost reductions, and wealth-building initiatives.

Vice President Harris will also outline additional steps that she and President Biden are taking to expand this work. She will be joined on the tour by Administration officials, members of Congress, local leaders, and other special guests.

Since the beginning of 2024, Harris has made more than 35 trips to 16 states, meeting with small business owners and entrepreneurs in underserved communities to discuss challenges and opportunities they face.

She continued, “Five days a week I undergo athletic, physical and vocal therapy. I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, my voice… I have to learn to live with it now and stop questioning myself. At the beginning I would ask myself: why me? How did this happen? What have I done? Is this my fault?”

Dion says she doesn’t have the answers as to why she got this illness and she only has two options, “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer says that it’s her family, children, and fans that keep her strong and is grateful she has the means to have good doctors and treatments, adding, “I have this strength within me. I know that nothing is going to stop me.”

Since being diagnosed with SPS, Dion has been largely kept out of the public eye. In February of this year, she made a surprise appearance at the Grammys and presented an award to Taylor Swift .

When asked about getting back on stage and touring again, Dion said, “I can’t answer that… Because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready… As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months’ [I will return]. I don’t know… My body will tell me.”

Trump reiterates that he'll debate Biden 'anytime he wants, including tonight'

Speaking to reporters after court adjourned, Trump called this case a "Biden indictment" and accused Biden of trying to use the case to win an election.

He also responded to reports that Biden would be "happy" to debate Trump, saying, "I've invited Biden to debate. He can do it anytime he wants, including tonight."

Later, Trump added, "I'm ready, willing and able, and if he wants, I'll do it on Monday night, Tuesday night or Wednesday night."

Prosecutor asks Farro about Cohen bank documents

Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Mangold is questioning Farro about bank paperwork associated with Cohen opening an account for an LLC.

Prosecutors are asking Farro about the meaning of a series of bank-related documents and communications.

Farro, the banker, said Cohen was assigned to him in 2015 after a colleague left First Republic Bank.

Cohen had been a client of the bank for at least a couple of years, Farro said. He added that he was told that he was selected to work with Cohen because of his knowledge and his “ability to handle individuals who might be a little ... challenging.”

Farro went on to say that Cohen “did a lot of his own business” and that he didn't find him “difficult.”

Farro says there are other industries the bank won't do business with

Farro testified that there are lines of business that the bank decided it won't do business with, including gambling, adult entertainment and check cashing.

Farro explains that he works at Flagstar Bank but worked at First Republic Bank for 15 years, beginning in 2002.

He allegedly helped set up the home equity line of credit through which Cohen paid Daniels. He is the third witness to testify.

Necheles highlights casting as reason for Trump to have Daniels' phone number

Trump attorney Susan Necheles began to suggest that casting for the show "The Celebrity Apprentice" was why the former president had Stormy Daniels' phone number.

“He thought that she would be an interesting addition to 'The Apprentice,'" Necheles said during questioning this afternoon.

"That was the office chatter, yes," Rhona Graff said, noting that she vaguely recalled hearing at the office that Trump had referred to Stormy Daniels as a potentially appealing candidate for the show.

Graff, a former executive assistant for Trump, said she had a vague recollection of seeing Daniels there. Asked if she knew Daniels was an adult film actress, Graff said she did.

Graff says working for Trump was 'very stimulating'

Trump's lawyer Susan Necheles asked Graff what it was like to work for Trump.

“I never had to do the same day twice in all that time," she said. “It was a very stimulating, exciting — just fascinating place to be."

Asked if Trump was a good boss, Graff said, "I think that he was fair."

Trump had McDougal and Daniels contact information saved

Hoffinger is still questioning Graff and has shown her several images of contact pages for McDougal and Daniels in the Trump Organization computer system.

Asked if she had created the contact pages for the two, Graff said, "I believe I did."

Analysis: Bove misjudged in the questions about McDougal's brand

Bove miscalculated in trying to get Pecker to agree that McDougal was a celebrity or a brand; this is a person with precise knowledge of who and what sold in the time frame at issue — and McDougal, Playmate of the Year or not, did not meet Enquirer celebrity criteria.

It was also a tactical error to reuse Steinglass’ best phrase of the day: "Enquirer gold."

Prosecutors call Rhona Graff to the stand

Prosecutors just called Graff, Trump's longtime executive assistant, to the stand.

Graff is dressed in black and says she is no longer employed but was a 34-year employee of the Trump Organization, from 1987 to April 2021. She was an executive assistant, a senior executive assistant and eventually became an assistant to the president and an executive VP there.
