Julio Iglesias (born September 23rd 1943) is a singer/songwriter from Madrid, Spain, who has gone on to become the world's best-selling artist in Latin music history.

Hugely popular, Iglesias is a global superstar, having sold over 300 million albums worldwide and releasing over 80 albums. His smooth crooning and good looks oozes a suave, romantic image that has had widespread appeal, enjoying a career that has spanned six decades.

In his youth, Iglesias was a talented footballer, receiving an offer from Real Madrid to train with the team. However, his career was cut short following a car accident that caused a severe spinal injury that left him in rehabilitation for two years. Although it was in recovery that Iglesias developed his passion for music, teaching himself guitar and writing his first songs.

Success came quick to Iglesias, winning the International Song Festival in Spain, which earned him a recording contract with Columbia Records in 1968. His recording of "La Vida Sigue Igual" was his first number one hit, reaching the top spot in Spain. Following this, he broke onto the European scene, representing Spain for the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in fourth place.

With a keen talent for languages, Iglesias has been able to break into several different markets, recording music in 14 languages, which has allowed him to become popular throughout Europe and South America. Despite his global success, it was a while before Iglesias broke into America. Following a sold-out concert in Madison Square Garden, New York, US in 1976 and a duet with Willie Nelson on the song, "To All The Girls I've Loved Before," Iglesias broke into the American market and by 1984, he was an established star. His album "1100 Bel Air Place" sold over three million copies, cementing his position as an international superstar.

Iglesias began to tailor his music towards an American audience throughout the 80s and 90s, as well as continuing his commitment to his Latin audience with his 1996 album, "Tango." His productivity slowed down towards the end of the 90s and at the start of the new millennium. But Iglesias continued to perform extensively to huge audiences and remains a treasured musician globally. On April 23rd, 2013, his contributions were recognised through his induction into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Live reviews

Julio Iglesias might be one of the biggest selling artists in the world, having sold more than 300 million records worldwide, in 14 languages, over the course of more than 80 albums. According to Sony Music Entertainment, he is the best selling Latin music artist. He still has his distinctive voice to this day, and tonight we are fortunate to experience his world-class vocals through five decades of the singles that he has released. He performs a slew of hits throughout this two hour set with his all star band backing him, made up of traditional flamenco instruments and a full string section. His banter between songs is fantastic, keeping the audience happy throughout. Most people are up on their feet, dancing throughout. “Manuela” is a captivating sing along. (There is just something about 10,000 people all singing the same hook). It is extremely encouraged throughout the set. He closes the set with the fantastic “Lo Mejor de Tu Vida” which makes this huge arena erupt in excitement.

Terrible sound issues, everyone at the concert complained that we could not hear Julio's voice during the songs or when he spoke.

We were sitting quite close to the stage on the floor and yet had a very hard time hearing Julio. People kept shouting to the sound technicians that we could not hear but not much was done to make a noticeable difference.

Julio tried to make people happy and repeated a song 3 times and had to close his show twice.

I hope the venue changes the people in charge of sound for concerts soon since I have plans and already boughttickets to attend another concert.

Toyota Music Factory you had better do something about your sound or you will loose lots of concert followers.

At concert in Duluth GA, he spoke in Spanish often leaving us out of conversations. Love when he sings in Spanish , or any language but please speak in English for concerts in the USA
