Explanations.

  • Keto: net carbs 15g If you are following a ketogenic diet (keto), you need to restrict your daily carbohydrate intake so that your body enters ketosis. For most people, this means less than 50 net carbs per day. Net carbs are calculated by subtracting fiber from total carbs. Example: A product with 26 grams of total carbohydrates and 9 grams of fiber will have 17 grams net carbs. Math equation: 26 - 9 = 17 IMPORTANT: Net carbs are per serving. Make sure you know your serving size or else you may go over your planned intake and exit ketosis.
  • 1.5 tsp of added sugars per serving Added sugars are sugars and syrups that are added to foods or beverages as part of their preparation. They do not include naturally occurring sugars found in milk and fruits. Table sugar and high fructose corn syrup are examples of added sugars. Honey and maple syrup are also "added sugars" when added to food products. Per the FDA, they are not considered added sugars when sold as single ingredient products. However, at Fooducate we still consider them added sugars because they are basically the same as table sugar in terms of nutrition. The American Heart Association recommends limiting the amount of added sugars you consume to no more than half of your daily discretionary calories allowance. For women: 100 calories (25 grams, 6 tsp per day) For men: 150 calories (37 grams, 9 tsp per day) The FDA is more "generous", the Daily Value for added sugars is 200 calories (50 grams, 12 tsp per day). Here at Fooducate, we suggest sticking to the stricter option (only 25 grams per day for women, 37 grams for men). More info
  • 3.5 tsp of sugars per serving This includes both naturally occurring and added sugars. According to the USDA, every man woman and child in the US consumes approximately 80 pounds of caloric sweeteners per year! That works out to 25 tsp of sugars per day, or 400 extra calories! More info
  • For dieters: FoodPoints value is 3 * FoodPoints are calculated by Fooducate based on fats, carbs, fiber, and protein. They are not an endorsement or approval of the product or its manufacturer. The fewer points - the better.
  • Highly Processed! This product is highly processed. If you'll take a look at its ingredient list, you'll discover new words to add to your vocabulary. Many of these ingredients are required to increase the shelf life of the product and improve the flavor that disappears when food is not fresh.
  • Contains Carrageenan! Carrageenan is an additive made from seaweed. It is used as a thickener in products such as ice cream, jelly, chocolate milk, infant formula, cottage cheese. It is a vegetarian and vegan alternative to gelatin. It has been used for hundreds of years in Ireland and China, but only made headway into modern food processing in the last 50 years. The processing steps after harvesting the seaweed include drying, grounding, filtration, treatment with potassium hydroxide, removal of cellulose by centrifuge, concentration by evaporation, drying, and grounding. Interestingly, the Philippines account for the vast majority of the world supply of carrageenan. In some animal studies, carrageenan was shown to cause intestinal lacerations and tumors. A 2001 meta-study of 45 peer-reviewed studies concluded that carrageenan consumption may result in gastrointestinal malignancy and inflammatory bowel. The FDA has approved carrageenan as safe, basing its decision on industry funded studies. European agencies and the World Health Organization have also deemed carrageenan safe, with the exception of infant formula. The fear is the a baby's gut may be unable to handle the large carrageenan molecules. In some individuals carrageenan may cause intestinal discomfort or worse. ---- Sources: Tobacman JK. • Contains glycerides Mono and diglycerides are commonly used in processed foods to maintain stability in liquid products and "improve" quality in baked goods. These glycerides could be created using both hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils or animal fats. In theory, this may transfer a small amount of trans fats into the product. The glycerides are synthesized into phosphates by reacting with phosphorus pentoxide, a potential environmental hazard. But that's only part of the problem . . . The presence of mono and diglycerides should discourage you from buying a product for more than just these reasons: their inclusion in a product indicates that it is industrially processed. Choose products without mono and diglycerides not only for health reasons, but because you are getting a better quality food item overall.
  • Contains artificial flavors. Learn why Companies add artificial flavors to products to make them taste better. They are created in a lab and the formulations are guarded as trade secrets. Flavorings can compensate for flavor loss during processing, substitute for ingredients, lower production costs and increase shelf stability. Artificial flavorings are cheaper to source than natural flavors and are perceived as "worse" than natural flavors. They are more stable (and usually less chemically complex) than natural flavors. Artificial flavors are not necessarily bad for you from a health perspective. however, people with food sensitivities or allergies may want to avoid artificial flavors if they are unnamed. You can always contact the manufacturer for more information.
  • Natural flavors added. Learn why Companies add flavorings to make products taste better. They are created in a lab and the formulations are guarded as trade secrets. Flavorings can compensate for flavor loss during processing, substitute for ingredients, lower production costs and increase shelf stability. Natural flavorings are more expensive to source than artificial flavors, but tend to be better received by consumers. People sensitive to MSG, vegans, vegetarians and those with allergies should pay special attention to the phrase "natural flavorings" since glutamates, animal products or allergens may be the source of natural flavors. You can always contact the manufacturer for more information.
  • Learn about corn syrup, found here Corn syrup is often used as a sweetener in processed food. It is NOT THE SAME as high fructose corn syrup. Don't be fooled when looking up the amount of sugar a product contains if corn syrup is listed as an ingredient. This is because corn syrup contains 50% sugar, and 50% of another form of carbohydrate known as ""oligosaccharides"", which is pretty close to sugar. If a product has less sugar than you think it should, but contains corn syrup in the ingredient list, you'll know that the missing carbs are those oligosaccharides, not much better. More info
  • Learn about Xanthan Gum, found here Xanthan gum is an emulsifier. It helps ingredients blend more effectively and stay blended while waiting on a shelf. For example – water and oil mixtures, as well as bits of spice in a salad dressing. Xanthan Gum is made by fermenting corn sugar with a bacteria, Xanthomonas campestris. It’s the same bacteria that creates black spots on broccoli and cauliflower. The result is a slimy goo that is then dried up and ground into a fine white powder. More info

How Convenience Stores Can Improve Meat Snack, Jerky Sales

Mars plans for 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable product packaging, the sweet success of desserts: a cornerstone of convenience store sales, nonchocolate and gum see double-digit gains, kwik trip's ice cream, gelato, yogurt are winners.

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Five dairy products, including milk, ice cream, gelato and frozen yogurt, produced by Kwik Trip Inc. took honors at the annual World Dairy Expo Dairy Products Championship contest.

The retailer's awards included one for "creative and innovative products."

La Crosse, Wis.-based Kwik Trip, with more than 500 stores throughout Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota, won second-place honors for its 1% low-fat chocolate milk, regular vanilla ice cream and black raspberry frozen yogurt. It was awarded third place for its Cafe Espresso Chip gelato and French vanilla cappuccino.

"It is exciting for the Dairy Team to win an award in that many categories," said Bruce Pronschinske, director of production operations for Kwik Trip.  "It is the most we’ve won in a single competition," he told CSP Daily News .

Pronschinske added: "Time, dedication, hard work and the desire put into making high-quality products for our customers is what we do. Winning awards such as these reaffirms our hard work is paying off."

The cappuccino was honored in the category for creative and innovative products. CTL Foods Inc., Colfax, Wis., took first place for its soda fountain malted milk powder, and Organic Valley, LaFarge, Wis., earned second place for its organic chocolate balance milk protein shake. Pronschinske said the cappuccino flavor is not new for Kwik Trip, but the product was reformulated.

The expo took place in late August in Madison, Wis. It is sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association and is the only national contest that includes all dairy products.

One other convenience-store retailer and ice-cream maker, Stewart's Shops of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., also won awards for its ice cream, gelato and heavy whipping cream.

Make Your Own! Total Time: 25 Minutes 1. Preheat oven to 450°F. 2. Remove chicken thighs from pouch and place flat side (skin side) up on a lined sheet pan. Reserve the extra marinade from the pouch. 3. Heat chicken thighs for 12 to 15 minutes or until thighs have caramelized and are heated through. - Pro tip: set your oven to broil for the last 2 minutes to get the thighs extra golden, but watch them closely! 4. Shred carrots, separate lettuce leaves and prepare rice, if desired. 5. Slice the chicken and fill lettuce leaves with desired toppings. *Carrots out of stock

Make Your Own! Total Time: 10 Minutes 1. Add 1-2 tbsp of cooking oil to a sauté pan. Sauté peppers and onions on high heat for two to three minutes. Season with salt and pepper and set aside. 2. Remove the chicken from the pouch, discard liquid and slice into thin strips. - Pro tip: heating the chicken ahead of time will cut down the cook time and get you oozing, melty cheese in a hurry. Follow package heating instructions, for best results. 4. Assemble the quesadillas: Place shredded cheese on one tortilla, followed by sliced chicken, sautéed mixture, more cheese and top with a second tortilla. 5. Cook quesadilla in an oiled sauté pan on medium heat until both sides are golden brown, crunchy and the filling is heated through. 6. Slice and serve with your favorite salsa and sour cream. *Peppers not in stock

4 Delicious Ways to Celebrate Summer with Kwik Trip

Roasting marshmallows over a campfire, making s'mores in the summer, lifestyle blog

Welcome to the third and final post of my summer series in collaboration with Kwik Trip ! If you missed the first two posts, or just want to read them again, you can find them here ( Hittin’ the Road This Summer With Kwik Trip ) and here ( The Ultimate Guide to Simple Summer Cookouts ). I know I say this every time, but I am honestly SO excited for today’s post because it’s all about my favorite thing ever – SUMMER TREATS.

If you know me at all, you probably know my kitchen skills leave little to be desired. I hate cooking + baking, and with the huge selection of treats at Kwik Trip , I don’t need to spend hours in the kitchen to have a sweet treat! Read on for four really awesome and yummy recipes for treats you can make today – the best part is that all of the ingredients can be found conveniently at Kwik Trip! By the way, I don’t really consider these “real” recipes since they only require one or two ingredients and take 15 minutes or less to prepare… consider them inspiration for making your own delicious masterpiece. Bring on the yummy summer goodness!

Rootbeer Float

I think we can all agree that rootbeer floats are a summer staple. Sometimes (frequently, actually), I’m craving a rootbeer float but not feeling like spending $5 on one at A&W. Kwik Trip to the rescue! You can get everything you need to make rootbeer floats for your whole family in one visit to Kwik Trip. A&W rootbeer paired with creamy Nature’s Touch vanilla ice cream is a match made in heaven. This isn’t really a “recipe”, but here’s what you need to make your own:

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

-Rootbeer -Vanilla ice cream -Spoon or ice cream scoop -A tall cup

This one is pretty self-explanatory… Scoop a bunch of ice cream into your cup and pour on the rootbeer! Keep the rootbeer close so you have easy access for refills. I like mine more liquidy, so I add a lot of rootbeer! It seems like adding a fun straw to your float makes it taste extra delicious, so I never skip this step!

Glazer Ice Cream Sandwich

Glazers and ice cream are arguably my two favorite things EVER; the next treat puts a fun twist on dessert time by combining the two. Could you imagine anything better than a Glazer stuffed with yummy Nature’s Touch ice cream?! I can’t. Sometimes you just can’t pick between a Glazer and ice cream – you just need both. Clear up some freezer space so you have room for all these sandwiches and read on to learn how to make your own!

-A box of Glazers -Spoon or ice cream scoop -Sharp knife -Ice cream

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

-Crushed up cookies -Your favorite cereal -Sprinkles -Chocolate chips

First, cut a Glazer in half. Then add 2 or 3 scoops of your favorite ice cream and gently press the other Glazer half on top. If you want to level up your sandwiches, you can add toppings to the outside of the ice cream by rolling the sandwich on its side. Think things like sprinkles, cereal, crushed up candy bars, or chocolate chips – yum! It’s also fun to experiment with different ice cream flavor + topping combos.

When I was making these, I literally could not contain myself and ended up eating a few Glazers while I was cutting the others in half. While you’re at Kwik Trip , you might as well pick up two or three boxes of Glazers; trust me, you’re gonna want more than 6 sandwiches! They freeze pretty well, so you can make a bunch of them + wrap them in plastic wrap and stick them in the freezer. Next time you’re craving some Glazer yumminess, you can just open up your freezer! Just note that you’ll want to let them thaw a tiny bit before you take a bite because the Glazers do get kind of hard. Another option is pre-scooping the ice cream and keeping it in the freezer without the Glazers. When you want a Glazer ice cream sandwich, just grab your pre-portioned ice cream out of the freezer, slice a Glazer in half, and you’re good to go!

s'mores ingredients, summer treat recipes, lifestyle blog

S’mores

This 3-ingredient summer classic is a simple way to satisfy your nighttime dessert craving. Growing up, I spent most of my summers at our lakehouse – we sat around the campfire and roasted marshmallows for s’mores almost every night. I honestly don’t really like chocolate, marshmallows, or graham crackers on their own, but together, they are a match made in heaven! I’m pretty sure everyone knows how to make the perfect s’more, but in case you don’t, here’s how:

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

-Graham crackers -Marshmallows -Chocolate -A marshmallow roasting stick

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

-Peeps (to swap out for marshmallows) -Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups -A variety of flavored chocolates

s'mores ingredients, summer treat recipes, s'more in front of campfire, lifestyle blog

First things first, you need to roast your marshmallow(s). If you don’t have a fire pit in your backyard, you can warm up marshmallows in the microwave. Toast them to your liking then remove your roasting stick from the fire. My sister likes to light her s’more marshmallows on fire so they are super burnt, while I’m more of a lightly cooked marshmallow type of girl. When it’s perfectly done, sandwich it between two crackers and a square of Hershey’s milk chocolate and there you have it – the perfect s’more!

I’m boring and usually just make my s’mores with a graham cracker + Hershey’s chocolate + regular marshmallows, but I do have a few favorite ways I like to mix it up! You can make it as simple or elaborate as you want.

My first tip is to swap Peeps for marshmallows. I can count on one hand the number of people I know who actually like straight-out-of-the-package-Peeps, but they are a game-changer when you use them in a s’more. It’s also really yummy to swap out Hershey’s chocolate with Kwik Trip’s Nature’s Touch flavored chocolate. They have so many varieties – my current favorite is the Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter. It also tastes amazing to use a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup instead of chocolate! S’mores are a classic go-to dessert, especially on hot summer nights. Next time you are making them around the campfire, try out some of these yummy ingredient swaps!

cookie shake ingredients, summer treat recipes, ice cream, cookies, lifestyle blog

Kwikery Cookie Shake

I’m a sucker for shakes. If I had to choose between sundaes, thick-Blizzard-like ice cream, or shakes, I’d choose shakes every time. They’re pretty great with just plain old vanilla ice cream, but this summer I had an idea that upped my shake game forever. Kwik Trip bakery cookies are the best , and they work perfectly for this recipe because they are so soft and chewy. They blend up really nicely and leave you with the most perfect shake!

-Ice cream (vanilla or any other flavor you want to experiment with) -A little bit of milk (the 8oz one from Kwik Trip is perfect) -2 or 3 of your favorite Kwikery bakery cookies – Blender (I love my Ninja single-serve) -Spoon or ice cream scoop -Tall cup

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

-Whipped cream -Chocolate syrup -Caramel syrup -Your favorite candy crushed up into pieces

making a cookie shake, cookie shake ingredients, summer treat recipes, ice cream, cookies, lifestyle blog

Start this recipe off by adding a crumbled up cookie to the bottom of your blender. Next, add in a few scoops of ice cream. For single-serve blenders like the one I’m using, fill it up about 90% of the way. With the little bit of room left on top, add another crumbled up cookie. Now comes the fun part – you can add anything else you want to your shake! If you need some ideas, you could try adding chocolate chips, caramel syrup, or your favorite candy. Finally, add a splash of milk to make it nice and creamy.

Now, blend it up until your shake is the consistency you like! Pour it into your cup and top with another crumbled up cookie and some whipped cream. You might want to use a spoon instead of a straw to eat it if you still have big cookie chunks after blending. That’s it! The Kwikery bakery cookies paired with Nature’s Touch ice cream make a creamy, smooth, yummy shake. I love this simple treat, and my favorite part is that it only requires a few ingredients!

Okay, so maybe you’re really picky or have dietary restrictions and can’t enjoy rootbeer floats, Glazer ice cream sandwiches, s’mores, or Kwikery cookie shakes. Luckily, Kwik Trip has a huge array of treats available from the minute you walk in the doors! We all know that Kwik Trip is the best of the best when it comes to gas station chains. They have everything ! Some of my favorite grab-and-go treats are the F’Real shakes, rice Krispie treats, Fresh Blends smoothies or cold brew, donuts, bottled iced coffee, and apple turnovers. There are sooo many choices so you can find something for everyone!

Simple, easy treats are the best kind of treats – Kwik Trip is the best place to shop for everything you need to satisfy your sweet tooth. I can’t get enough of the convenience! I hate wasting summer days walking around the grocery store, and Kwik Trip saves me a trip.

Personally, I like to mix up what I eat on dessert nights, so I rotate all four of these treats every few nights! They all have one thing in common (other than being delicious) – I made them almost entirely with supplies from Kwik Trip ! When you’re there shopping for supplies to create your dream dessert, remember to scan your Kwik Trip app to earn rewards that you can redeem for even more amazing treats.

This year has been off to a rough start, but you can still end your summer on a sweet note. Head over to Kwik Trip to get everything you need to make the treats of your dreams so you can celebrate + savor the last few weeks of summer!

If you’ve been following along with my Kwik Trip adventures this summer – THANK YOU! It has truly been a dream to create this series with a company I have grown up loving. Leave a comment letting me know what your favorite summer treat is, and how many boxes of Kwik Trip Glazers you buy every month!!

New Item Is Selling Out Fast at Popular Wisconsin -Based Gas Stations

I spend so much time at Kwik Trip that when I walk inside those front doors near the ATM machines, I can immediately tell when something is different.  I had that feeling this week when I stopped to grab eggs and milk on my way home from work.  As I got closer to the glass door for the milk, I heard a teenager loudly say, "this place has it".  The gangly teenager grabbed something near the milk as his friend was standing there with a smile.

I didn't want to look like a boomer that was stalking them so I tried not to stare too much but as soon as they took off, I grabbed the same bottle that they did.

Check Out The New Item That Just Showed Up at Kwik Trip Stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin

If the teenagers are loving whatever this new item is, my teenager will probably love it too.  I grabbed the same bottle, checked out, heard the "see you next time" and brought this bottle of vanilla milkshake flavored milk back to my house.

After a bit of researching (aka Googling ), I found out that Kwik Trip just told the world the following news:

ATTENTION: New milk just dropped and it tastes like melted ice cream in a bottle.

Does The New Vanilla Milkshake at Kwik Trip Stores Really Taste Like Ice Cream?

We did a blind taste test at my house to see if the new Vanilla Milkshake lived up to the statement of being liquid ice cream.

I'm lactose intolerant so this new drink is a no-go for me.  I don't care how much Lactaid you offer me, the pain is not worth it.  My kid took a swig though and although he wasn't too sure about the smell at first, he smiled and said, "it actually tastes like ice cream".

What Product Do You Think Kwik Trip Should Bring To Their Stores Next?

A few people I know would love to see a Culver's store inside of a Kwik Trip .  I'm not sure if that would ever happen but it would be pretty awesome to get a Butterburger at a Kwik Trip.  What other genius ideas should Kwik Trip develop and bring to their fans?  Let me know over on my Facebook page - Jessica On The Radio .

12 Grocery Store-Brand Vanilla Ice Creams, Ranked

tops of ice cream containers

Who doesn't love ice cream? No matter the weather, I'm always excited to enjoy a cone, sundae, milkshake, or sandwich — I'll even take ice cream  as part of an affogato  or alongside a glass of whiskey . You get the picture. While there are plenty of  amazing ice cream shops across the U.S. , sometimes you just want a bowl at home. You can no doubt run to any grocery store and find a  great selection of ice cream brands , but I've been wondering: Which supermarket has the best branded ice cream?

To answer this question, I visited seven different supermarkets in the New York City area and tried each of their basic vanilla flavors, whether it was "homestyle vanilla," "French vanilla," or "vanilla bean." If a store carried multiple options — perhaps an organic or premium choice — I grabbed those, too. By the end of my shopping spree, I had enough ice cream to last me the next 87 days. It's a tough job, but as a self-proclaimed ice cream aficionado, I felt I was up to the task. Below, I've ranked the 12 ice cream brands I sampled. Taste and texture were the top factors, but I also considered price, ingredients, and nutritional value.

12. Walmart's Great Value Homestyle Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream

Coming in last on our list of the best store-brand vanilla ice creams is Walmart's Great Value Homestyle Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream. People eat with their eyes first, and when we popped the lid off of this 48-fluid-ounce container, we could tell this ice cream would be okay at best. The vanilla (flavored) ice cream was off-white, which matched the package, but we could tell it was a bit crystallized and likely wouldn't have the best texture.

A taste test only confirmed this assumption. Not only did Walmart's Great Value brand have the worst texture of the group, but it also had the worst flavor; it tasted very artificial, hence the specific "vanilla-flavored ice cream" name. On the back of the container was a laundry list of 16 ingredients, with corn syrup listed fourth and "natural and artificial flavors" listed ninth. The list didn't contain any mention of vanilla.

Surprisingly, each serving only has 180 calories, with each carton containing nine servings. This was also the least expensive of all the ice creams, coming in at $2.78. Since the containers in this ranking were different sizes, we calculated the price per serving to judge them a bit more fairly. Walmart's Great Value Homestyle Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream costs $0.31 per serving, which, by that metric, also makes it the most cost-effective. That said, if you're shopping for vanilla ice cream, you could do better.

11. Aldi's Sundae Shoppe Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

In 11th place on our list is Aldi's Sundae Shoppe Vanilla Bean Ice Cream — and it only edged out Walmart by a hair. This is also a pretty inexpensive option at $2.85 per container (and $0.32 per serving), and each serving only has 180 calories, but like Walmart's vanilla-flavored ice cream, the version from Aldi's Sundae Shoppe just lacked anything that would make you want to come back for seconds. We did like that ground vanilla beans (which were visible throughout) and vanilla extract were among this brand's ingredients. That said, the container listed a total of 18 ingredients, and corn syrup came third.

When we scooped the ice cream, it was almost too soft, but even so, we could tell that it was very crystallized. As a result, it had a strange mouthfeel — both too hard and too soft. Overall, it just tasted a bit bland, with no single element stealing the spotlight.

10. Gelatelli by Lidl Homestyle Vanilla Ice Cream

Gelatelli by Lidl Homestyle Vanilla Ice Cream is the last of the products on this list that we probably wouldn't purchase again. It certainly isn't in the same tier as Walmart, but there wasn't anything particularly great about this ice cream. It scooped well enough, but we could tell it didn't have a perfectly smooth texture. That said, it was a bit creamier than we anticipated — definitely a cut above the previous two entries. It did lack a strong vanilla flavor, so while it wasn't bad, per se, it wasn't a home run, either.

Lidl's Gelatelli brand is also a bit more expensive than the previous two entries at $3.35 per container and $0.37 per serving. Like those above, it's also 180 calories per serving, and its carton lists 13 total ingredients, including a small amount of vanilla bean extract. One other factor we weren't particularly fond of was the lack of any type of seal — whether a strip of shrink-wrapped plastic around the lid or a peel-off seal underneath. We've seen those videos of people licking ice cream at the store — no thank you!

9. Target's Favorite Day Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Target's Favorite Day Vanilla Bean Ice Cream kicks off the products that we would consider purchasing again. This ice cream did have a fairly long ingredient list that included both corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup, but it also contained natural vanilla flavoring with vanilla bean specks. Despite the natural vanilla flavoring, however, Target's Favorite Day brand also lacked a strong vanilla punch (perhaps due to the sugar syrups). That said, it was one of the softest ice creams we sampled, and it had a nice, creamy texture. We also liked that the back of the container featured a recipe for cookie dough ice cream bars that only called for three ingredients: Favorite Day Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, "eat or bake" chocolate chip cookie dough, and sprinkles. Since we certainly have enough ice cream in the freezer, we might just give this a shot.

Getting back to the numbers, this item cost $3.49 ($0.39 per serving), so it definitely won't break the bank. It's also just 170 calories per serving, which is the lowest on our list. Overall, it's a fine ice cream and could make do in a pinch, but if you're at Target, the store does carry another, much better option.

8. 365 by Whole Foods Market Organic Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

365 by Whole Foods Market Organic Vanilla Bean Ice Cream was a tale of two tastes for us. On our first sampling, we really liked it. On our second, we still really liked it, but we felt that some of the other options that we initially ranked lower should actually rank higher on the list. When we opened the lid, we could see lots of organic vanilla bean specks (this was one of seven all-organic ingredients). The ice cream was also a little tough to scoop, but it had a very smooth texture, so we had no reservations about the ice cream being crystallized. Like some of the ice creams in the middle tier, this product had a good mouthfeel but didn't have that ultra-creamy texture that set some of this cohort's top picks apart. That said, from here on out, all the ice creams are pretty solid, so very few factors separate the "good" from the "great."

At $4.69 per 1-pint container (which is $1.56 per serving), this brand is a bit costlier than our previous entries. 365 by Whole Foods Market Organic Vanilla Bean is also 200 calories — a bit more than our lower-rated ice creams but much less than some of those we ranked higher. We certainly would have this ice cream again, but if you're at Whole Foods, we think the chain carries an even better option.

7. Wegmans organic premium French Vanilla Ice Cream

Wegmans Organic Premium French Vanilla Ice Cream falls into a similar category as our two previous picks: It's pretty good, but you can find a better option at the same store. On our first taste, we found this ice cream to be just okay. While the ice cream wasn't crystallized, it was still a bit hard (both to scoop and bite), and the flavor was only so-so; however, on a second tasting, we liked this much better and even bumped it up a couple of spots.

Wegmans Organic Premium French Vanilla Ice Cream has a good vanilla flavor and is appropriately sweet — perhaps due to its list of just five organic ingredients, which includes vanilla extract. We also liked that Wegmans used 16% butterfat, which really gave this ice cream an unctuous boost. We're also big fans of French vanilla-style ice cream, which uses a custard base  to give it that velvety consistency.

All that said, this three-serving container costs $4.79 (or $1.60 per serving), so it's on the more expensive side. Additionally, due to the butterfat, one serving is 360 calories, which is double all the previous options. To be fair, though, more calories often means more flavor, and since ice cream is a treat, this probably shouldn't be a top concern.

6. Aldi's Specially Selected Vanilla Super Premium Ice Cream

Aldi's Specially Selected Vanilla Super Premium Ice Cream, which came in sixth on our list, had some of the best vanilla taste in the bunch. In fact, it might have been in the top three if we were only ranking based on the strongest vanilla taste; however, this was also one of the toughest ice creams to scoop, and the texture was lacking. It wasn't crystallized, but it was a bit hard, and it didn't have that ultra-creamy consistency you want from an excellent ice cream. We did like that it contained just five ingredients (including vanilla extract) and didn't have any artificial flavors. This was certainly noticeable in its taste.

Like Aldi's Sundae Shoppe Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, it didn't have a seal. Priced at $4.89 per container, it was a bit more expensive than some of the other products of the same size, but it still had an affordable price per serving at $0.54. Like many of the other brands from this point forward, it's also on the higher end calorie-wise at 340 per serving.

5. 365 by Whole Foods Market Vanilla Ice Cream

Each of the ice cream options in our top five is an easy "would-buy-again." First in this grouping is 365 by Whole Foods Market Vanilla Ice Cream. While it has a different taste than 365's organic option, as that was vanilla bean and this was simply vanilla, we found our overall ratings to be similar. It was initially a little hard to scoop (which we chalked up to its location in the back of the freezer), but it had a decent texture, and the flavor was also pretty good. A second tasting after we moved the container closer to the front of the freezer provided a much softer scoop.

As for why we ranked this variety higher, 365's Vanilla Ice Cream cost $5.59 per 1½-quart container, meaning it comes in at $0.62 per serving. It also had the same 200 calories and nearly identical seven ingredients as the brand's vanilla bean option. If all else is the same, let the price split the difference and spring for the option that's less than half the other's price.

4. Target's Favorite Day Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

We have a confession, and we want to get it out of the way: Target's Favorite Day Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream uses artificial flavoring and doesn't mention vanilla among its "natural flavors." (That said, it doesn't list any of these flavors, so it's technically possible that some natural vanilla is included.) To be as fair as we could when tasting and ranking these entries, we didn't look at the cartons' ingredients beforehand — that way, the ice cream could do the talking.

This brand had great "scoopability" and a super creamy texture, plus a really solid vanilla taste. Despite the high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup (third and fourth, respectively, on its list of 10 ingredients), Target's Favorite Day Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream wasn't overly sweet.

Upon our second tasting, we still thought it was one of the best of the bunch. Even better, the nine-serving container only cost $3.49 (that's $0.39 — and 170 calories — per serving). Like Target's other vanilla ice cream, this one had a recipe on the container: rainbow sheet pan ice cream bars. (All you need is butter, marshmallows, fruity crispy rice cereal, and this ice cream.)

3. Lidl Preferred Selection Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream

The most expensive ice cream on this list ($8.09 per container) is also one of those most worth its price. Lidl Preferred Selection Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream had some of the best texture among the ice cream brands we tried, plus just the right level of creamy unctuousness. We also found that it had a really good vanilla flavor. While it was on the verge of being oversweet, it didn't actually hit that mark.

This ice cream also has a pretty long list of ingredients (12 in total), including both corn syrup (listed fourth) and natural vanilla flavor (listed 11th). Like Target's Favorite Day Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, it's a bit puzzling, but at least it lists "natural vanilla" on the carton. Maybe it's best not to ask too many questions when you just want a good scoop of ice cream.

Despite this being the most expensive product on our list based on total cost, the Lidl Preferred Selection Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream contains nine servings per carton, which divides out to $0.90 per serving. This places it close to the middle of our price ranking. Each serving also has 310 calories.

2. Trader Joe's French Vanilla Ice Cream

After sampling Trader Joe's French Vanilla Ice Cream (one of the chain's many frozen desserts ), we're confident that the supermarket has hit another home run. Like the other French vanilla ice cream brands on our list, this one had a really pleasing, smooth texture. It was a bit hard to scoop but melted on the tongue and had a really tasty vanilla flavor. It also had just the right amount of sweetness.

According to  Trader Joe 's website, in order for an ice cream to receive the brand's "super premium" designation (as this ice cream does), it "must have less than 50% overrun, meaning that 1 gallon of mix would create no more than 1½ gallons of finished ice cream." The brand goes on to explain, "Trader Joe's French Vanilla Ice Cream has 26% overrun — aka dense, super, SUPER premium ice cream!" We definitely noted this ice cream's density when scooping it, but we also enjoyed that "premium" flavor and taste.

This option cost $4.49 for 1 quart — that's $0.75 per serving, which isn't too bad for such a high-ranking entry. Its six ingredients, which include natural vanilla flavor (listed fifth), culminate in 330 calories per serving.

1. Wegmans Madagascar Vanilla Premium French Ice Cream

We had never tried Wegmans Madagascar Vanilla Premium French Ice Cream before this ranking, but it will almost certainly be in our freezer from now on. It's that good — store brand or not. Yes, it's $4.79 for 1 pint (which equates to $1.60 per serving) and 350 calories, but the flavor makes it all worthwhile.

Like Wegmans' other branded ice cream, this variety uses 16% butterfat, giving it an excellent texture (although not necessarily the best on the list). This was a welcome surprise, as it seemed a bit freezer-burned when we popped the lid. While we were a bit concerned that it would be hard or a bit crystallized, these fears were never realized.

Where it stands head and shoulders above the rest of the brands on our list, however, is its vanilla flavor. Made with "Real Madagascar Vanilla," it's immediately obvious that the ingredient is of much higher quality than the others we tried. Beyond vanilla extract, this ice cream contains only six other ingredients. Overall, Wegmans Madagascar Vanilla Premium French Ice Cream was clearly and immediately our favorite of the bunch, and we would highly recommend it to any ice cream lover.

Methodology

I sampled 12 different store-brand vanilla ice creams from seven different supermarkets found in or around New York City. As such, I couldn't sample offerings from other popular grocery stores across the U.S. like Kroger, H-E-B, or Publix. That said, I tried one spoonful of each ice cream back to back (with a sip of water between each), took notes, and then repeated that process on a separate day to compare and contrast. I didn't include any flavors like vanilla chocolate chip or other variations that used a vanilla base; I also didn't include any dairy-free desserts in this ranking.

I made sure to rotate the containers within the freezer to minimize variations in texture. I found the contents to be fairly consistent with this method, leading me to believe that each ice cream was fairly represented. When judging, I mostly considered flavor and texture. Other post-tasting factors, as mentioned above, included each carton's price, ingredients, and nutritional value, as well as whether or not the supermarket offered a better option.

What’s summer without ice cream? As the temperature in the South Bay climbs, there’s no better way to celebrate warmer days than with an icy, decadent sweet treat.

Though a scoop of vanilla ice cream may be a tried and true option, shops in the South Bay have gone beyond the basics and embraced new renditions of frozen desserts that range from soft serve, froyo, gelato, rolled spirals, and even ice cream tacos, with flavors that incorporate unlikely mix-ins or a variety of cultural ingredients.

So, for all the local ice cream lovers, here are the spots with the most splendid scoops in the South Bay.

Health experts consider dining out to be a high-risk activity for the unvaccinated; it may pose a risk for the vaccinated, especially in areas with substantial COVID transmission.

Sugar Mama Desserts

Sugar Mama Desserts is a true labor of love that began at a farmers market 10 years ago when a pharmacist decided to quit her job and shift to creating ice cream full-time. Ingredients and fruit are sourced locally without the use of preservatives, and the shop is most well known for its 40+ sentimental and creative flavors, such as Caramal Passionfruit, Chocolate Malted Krunch and Malted Milk Double Chocolate. Henny Penny, one of the shop’s most eccentric flavors, is an unlikely blend of Hennessy and Chinese Haw Flake candies, while saffron rosewater pistachio is a mosaic of Persian flavors.

Sweet Fix Creamery

For some all natural, premium ice cream that comes in eccentric flavors, Sweet Fix Creamery is the way to go. With 16 percent butterfat, the ice cream’s texture is extra creamy and smooth. When it comes to variety, Sweet Fix isn’t afraid to get creative with its repertoire of 95 flavors — 26 of which are available at any given time. Banana Brownie, Frappuccino Almond Crackle, horchata, and Mexican hot chocolate are some of the most loved, and toppings like fudge, whipped cream, and marshmallow fluff are made from scratch. And if traditional ice cream isn’t your jam, their homemade Italian ice is a great dairy-free, fat-free, gluten-free, and vegan option.

For those craving Indian-inspired flavors, Nirvanaah serves a vast variety of desserts, including scoops, sundaes, cakes, shakes, and special concoctions. Though the shop’s offerings may all be vegetarian and egg-free, they’re still as rich, delectable, and flavorful as any desserts in the area. The shop sources its frozen treats from Kwality Ice Cream, a premier supplier of Indian desserts, with flavors that range from fruity to nutty. Visitors rave about the unique flavors they may not be able to find elsewhere — ice cream infused with fruits like fresh chickoo or sitaphal, as well as more traditional Indian sweets like the summertime drink, falooda, and mixed nut ice cream, rajbhog.

Rocko's Ice Cream Tacos

Who would’ve thought that ice cream could be eaten as a taco? What started as an ice cream cart serving homemade Choco Tacos became a full storefront and production facility in Santa Clara. At Rocko’s, liquid nitrogen is used to assemble the signature house-made waffle cone taco shell that’s filled with ice cream, dipped in a variety of sauces, and then rolled into toppings for the ultimate crispy, crumbly, and creamy bite. Visitors most commonly order the cookies and cream and espresso flavors, though Rocko’s also takes inspiration from in-season produce for rotating flavors like ube, lemon blueberry, and mango sticky rice.

Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream Inc.

In the heart of San Jose’s Vietnam Town, you’ll find Marco Polo, the home of handcrafted gelato infused with fruits or classic Italian flavors. With natural ingredients, customers can taste ripe fruit chunks mixed in the ice cream itself. The shop was founded in San Francisco more than 40 years ago by a chemist who studied the gelato creation process and wanted to churn gelato with an extraordinarily smooth and rich texture. Customers get most excited about Marco Polo’s special Asian-inspired fruity flavors like durian, pandan, and guava, though the shop’s nutty flavors like pistachio and arcobaleno are also a hit.

Hailing from Southern California, SomiSomi has made a name for itself with its Korean dessert known as “ah-boong” — a crispy, fish-shaped waffle cone lined with dollops of filling and topped with creamy soft serve. The shops source milk from farms in California, though select flavors are lactose-free. The seasonal summer flavor, pink guava, has been a hit, and some of the most commonly ordered soft serve flavors include cookies ‘n cream and ube. For those looking for something a little warmer to pair with their ice cream, SomiSomi also serves taiyaki, fish-shaped pastries reminiscent of hot pockets, with a warm, toasted exterior and soft-mochi like filling in a variety of flavors.

Salt & Straw

The smell of waffle cones is a sure sign that Salt and Straw is near, and most ice cream fanatics would deem it a must-try. Founded in 2011 by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek, Salt and Straw started as a push cart in Portland, Oregon and now has 27 locations along the West Coast and in Miami. With new flavors launching each month, Salt and Straw relies on housemade add-ins and partners with local producers to source specialty ingredients. From the list of classic flavors, the sea salt with caramel ribbons threads ribbons of hand-burned caramel, while Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is made with the same malt used to brew amber ale.

16 Sweet Halloween Treats to Try in Los Angeles

Yumi Yogurt

Family-owned Yumi Yogurt first opened in San Mateo in 1985, offering relatively healthier froyo with fewer calories and less sugar than other frozen treats. Now, in the Santa Clara location, they’re carrying out that same mission with simple, silky frozen yogurt offerings in flavors that change daily. The chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, and cookie-based flavors are usually in high demand, and customers love the generous portion sizes. But for those who are looking for something sweet with a different mouthfeel, Yumi Yogurt also serves traditional ice cream scoops, as well as an assortment of drinks.

La Original Paleteria y Neveria

In a bright green building on an unassuming San Jose street, you’ll find La Original Paleteria, a snack shop that offers a bit of a transcendent experience, with an ambience and flavors that make customers feel as if they’ve teleported to Mexico. Even with a full menu of Mexican specialty desserts, fans most frequently order the mangonadas — velvety mango ice cream topped with a generous amount of juicy mango slices, Chamoy sauce, and Tajin seasoning. La Original Paleteria also offers a variety of other fruity flavors like mamey and guava, or more chocolatey ones like Ferrero Rocher.

Willow Glen Creamery

Willow Glen Creamery serves a Midwestern favorite at a quaint shop in San Jose. The shop is most well-known for silky frozen custards, which are churned and blended every day with vanilla and fresh bananas. Aside from their frozen custards, patrons also love the Marble Blackberry and Tin Roof Sundae ice creams, as well as the Irish mint and red velvet frozen yogurt flavors. And treats aren’t only for humans at Willow Glen Creamery. Dogs are always welcome, and they even get a free doggie yogurt treat when they visit. Since opening in 2002, the team has expanded to a second location in Campbell.

Ice cream and a show? Look no further than Icicles, a shop specializing in rolled ice cream — a frozen dessert created by scraping a thin layer of ice cream off a cold metal pan into tight spirals. Each ice cream is crafted to order, so visitors can watch as their desserts are rolled and customized with a seemingly unlimited assortment of toppings. Some of the most popular flavors include Oreo Blast, Strawberry Fantasy, and Nutella n’ Chill, and the shop also offers non-dairy options. Icicles may have started with one small shop in San Jose, but today there are nine locations sprawled across the Bay Area.

Tin Pot Creamery

Tin Pot Creamery started in 2012 as an “Ice Cream of the Month Club” that was spearheaded by one of the shop’s founders. As she ideated and experimented with two new flavors each month, she began hand-delivering them to her neighbors in the Bay Area. When these sweet deliveries gained traction, Tin Pot Creamery was born. Even today, the shop emphasizes and prioritizes its hearty, homemade quality, focusing on the basics with a fun spin. One of the most common ice cream flavors, dubbed Cookie Monster, has swirls of cookie dough pieces and chocolate cookie crumbles, which are both made at the shop.

Sweet Retreat

Sweet Retreat has been a long-time favorite ice cream and froyo spot for many South Bay locals. After the shop’s initial location was destroyed in a fire in 2016, the business thankfully recovered and now has two locations — one in San Jose and another in Morgan Hill. Every flavor scooped at Sweet Retreat is crafted from start to finish by the shop’s team without any premade bases or flavor pastes. Visitors can find 40 flavors being served at any given time, with 35 classic flavors and five rotating ones. Some of the most beloved orders include the mango banana froyo and the Oreo cookie ice cream.

Sweet Rendezvous is a family-owned store that sources ice cream from two top-tier local creameries — Marianne’s in Santa Cruz and Loard’s in San Leandro. Serving more than 52 flavors at the homey shop, Sweet Rendezvous offers a wide range of flavor options, such as ube and Persian Nutella. Blended with spices like cardamom and saffron, the Persian frozen desserts include a refreshing homemade faloodeh and a decadent saffron pistachio ice cream. And for those looking for some additional desserts, the shop also serves an assortment of European desserts, pastries, and candies.

Calling all Kawaii Gals!! You know, the girls that be the biggest thooters for anything being sold, stamped with a hello kitty sticker on it... yeah those girls, you know who you are. Scrolling through Yelp religiously got me stumbling across this dessert stand MoMaCaDo. The name makes me feel as though I'm a kid trying to learn how to speak or animal sounds. ANYWAYS just look at the pictures as they have a small variety of different dessert, and what caught my attention was the ice creams. This stand is located in the EastRidge food court, keeping the vibes casual. After looking at the menu, i decided on getting the Pompompurin ice cream with chocolate ice cream. The cashier failed to notify me that my dog was going to be the same shade of the ice cream instead of them coving the color in a sort of colored chocolate which caught me off guard. My Pompompurin came to me looking.... Extra tan. After receiving my order my girlie changed her mind and decided not to get a dessert with me. The ice cream date was broken all because Pompompurin decided to go to Hawaii right before my visit. There was nothing special about the ice cream, it's just regular ice cream. So, if they didn't pride themselves upon the cute ice cream characters, you could and should pass. I am deeply sorry and might regret this decision in the future, but i gotta keep it 100 with the Thooters

A cute thing...as a food product??? Even better! Once I saw that Momocado had cute character ice creams (that I have NEVER seen elsewhere in California, unless you're counting the ones at Belly Good Crepe SF), I KNEW that I had to go. It was so cute, that I ended up going TWICE on the weeklong trip that I was on in NorCal and I know its going to be a must stop EVERY TIME I go to NorCal now! It's a kiosk located at the Eastridge Mall food court and you can't miss it with how cute it is! Cute dog and cat decorations all around. If you're not in the mood for their animal/character ice cream, they also have taiyaki, soft serve ice cream, and boba drinks here too! Ordering is simply done through their touch screen tablet. For the animal ice creams you can choose the character/animal decoration and the flavor of the ice cream. Just know that the flavor won't necessarily match your character's canon color if you're okay with, let's say, a vanilla PomPomPurin or something. I got the: 1) Lolita Kuromi ice cream: -I got this in ube flavor to match her purple color. 2) Chef Kirby ice cream: -I got this in strawberry flavor to match his pink color. All the decorations on your ice cream are made from white chocolate and are cute and detailed too. Doesn't look bootlegged at all and if you told me you got this off the street in an Asian country and not in a random mall in San Jose, I would believe you 100%. The ice cream isn't too sweet nor is it too icy and they fill all the way to the bottom of the cone. You also have the option to use their sprinkles decoration self-serve bar after you get your order and add extra pearls, gems, stars, etc. to make your ice cream even cuter! Even the wrapping on the ice cream cone and the little cover to make sure it doesn't melt everywhere are cute too! They do not skimp out on the cuteness and that's already a 5 stars from me. I can't wait to see if they add more flavors in the future since I think they only have ube/taro, strawberry, vanilla, and lemon and to see if they are going to add more characters too! When I visited they no longer had Lina Bell and Stella Lou (Duffy and Friends characters from the Disney Asia parks), so I was a bit sad about that. Hopefully they make a comeback and hopefully we can see more cute characters (would love to see Hangyodon, Tuxedo Sam, some San-X characters - Rilakkuma, Sumikko Gurashi, Chiikawa, or even more Poke'mon!

Such a cute and fun place to go to! As a Sanrio lover, I had to try this adorable place. It's located inside the food court at the Eastridge Mall in East San Jose with plenty of seating. There was no wait time and you order on the kiosk. The service is very quick and efficient. There was only one worker at the time but she prepared and decorated the ice cream very fast and we got our ice cream in less than five minutes. We got the Mymelody ice cream in strawberry flavor of course since Mymelody is pink, and Kuromi ice cream in ube/taro flavor. There was even a decorating station where we got to put edible charms and more decoration on the ice cream. As for taste, the ice cream tasted like your average ice cream and the decorations were chocolate. In my opinion these ice creams were worth the price, even though it's only one scoop, the presentation looked perfect.

What a cute concept for a dessert. Our little one loved it as not only did it look cute, but she enjoyed the actual ice cream. They are located in a kiosk in the middle of the mall eatery. Ordering is done through a kiosk. What was odd was that the prices on screens mounted on the walls didn't match the kiosk prices. Just be advised that the prices for the character ice creams vary based on the complexity of the character. The service is excellent as there were only two employees filling orders at a rapid pace and did it with a smile. We came before closing so the line was non existent. We will definitely be back as the prices are reasonable and the product was great.

The good: I got a combination which was a soft serve ice cream in a cup with 2 Japanese fish-shaped pastries (takoyaki). You could choose the filling for the pastries. I chose custard and Nutella. For the soft serve I chose mixed (matcha and milk tea). This place is located in the food court so there's plenty of seating. It's across from the movie theater. The thing I loved most about this place was how you could decorate your own soft serve afterward and they had seasonal decor items like a pumpkin and bat toothpick. You could add your own sprinkles and it was all super kawaii (cute). The ice cream texture was great. The texture of the mochi in the pastry was great. It was chewy on the inside and had a nice crunch on the outside. I liked how they were freshly made in front of you. They also make super cute character ice creams on cones but I didn't try this. The bad: The takoyaki had very little filling inside so you couldn't taste much of it. I wish there was more of the outer crust and a little bit less of the mochi pastry as well. The sprinkles were hard to place because they mostly rolled off of the ice cream. The ice cream flavor wasn't deep/strong enough. I wish there was more of a matcha flavor and I wish the milk tea flavor didn't taste so much like the cheap Lollicup-style powders you find online in bulk from China. This place is more cute and photo-worthy than it is exceptional in taste. The interesting: I think the name is mom mixed with avocado?

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

Sooo cute! My order was served was surprisingly fast considering each item is made to order. They have a limited amount of flavors: ube, mango, chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. The price for the character ice cream is about $6-7, which is worth it for how cute it was. The ice cream was very soft and airy, which is not my preference. I like my ice cream more firm and dense (if that makes sense). The sugar cone was actually pretty delicious and crunchy! This is definitely more of a place for aesthetics and posting on social media. If you're looking for a cute treat to make your day, this is where to go. But if you're looking for some tasty, quality ice cream, I would go to a different ice cream shop.

Very very cute ice cream! But beware long lines! My friend and I came here wanting to see the cute character ice cream--since the location is inside a mall, it was very easy to find parking, but even though the stall itself is quite small, the line is formidable: we ended up waiting almost an hour and a half for two ice creams. The desserts are definitely as cute as a look online! Almost all the decorations are edible and it comes with a cute cover so the ice cream doesn't drip, but ice cream itself is just regular, and the decorations are just chocolate. Swing by if you want a cute dessert!

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

Ordered a combo with Ube ice cream, strawberry taiyaki, and custard taiyaki. Ube ice cream: 2/5. It had 3 scoops. It barely had any Ube flavor. Taiyaki: 0/5. Undercooked. Very little filling. Do not recommend.

kwik trip vanilla ice cream

Trendy? Yes. Tasty? Meh. If you're looking for ice cream shaped like your favorite trending Sanrio character or a cute animal, go here. But beware--there's a 20-minute + wait if you go on a weekend. My bf and I came on a Saturday afternoon and were faced with a crowd of 20+ people. It was clear that they weren't staffed to serve large crowds; there were two employees who were working at a snail's pace (not blaming them; I just think the business owner could've staffed better for opening). I'd recommend coming back in a couple of weeks when the hype dies down a bit. Aside from the aesthetic, don't expect much flavor from your ice cream. I got the mango ice cream and I could barely taste the mango; my boyfriend got strawberry and it was decent--better than mine--but nothing mindblowing. I was happy with the serving size since I get tired of ice cream pretty fast, but objectively, the scoop is quite tiny--about less than half of a standard ice cream cone. For $6-$7, I think you can get better-tasting, more flavorful ice cream elsewhere--and it'll be served quicker too. It's a cute one-time photo/video experience but I wouldn't come here again.
